"We're going to find my ally, Cael'la, then we shall find the krayt dragon."

Loric's face pales slightly, though you suspect he had known that you would not have changed your mind and he relays your message to your new companion. The tuk'ata seems to pause and gaze at you for a moment before muttering something.

"Um, he says he guesses that he's already sworn himself to you. Not much point in regrets now."

>What do you do?

>Try to sense Cael'la using the power of the force
>Try to get an estimate of the direction you saw her walk in when you parted ways
>Just go back to where you parted ways, she'll likely run into you along the way
>Just start walking you'll find her eventually

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Just a reminder, we voted to name the tuk'ata 'Taral' which means 'He who protects' or 'protector' in Sith.

You guys also wanted me to come up with some not so canon pet names that we could use for Nivah down the line.
Now I only found one translation that directly insinuates a feminine inclination in the word so I couldn't pinpoint anything that detonates femininity, so I chose to go for something that just sounds good.
Here's a few.

>Taral'jhan - 'She who protects'
>Nuyak'jen - 'My shadow'
>Nuyak'kintik - 'My blackest'

These are what I have mashing together canonical words and phrases
I can work outside of canon entirely if you guys want but that's up to you

I agree and second the name choice.

Two pluses as well.

One, it can be used more generally and people not always see it as a really loving relationship term of indearment.

Two, it kinda makes her seem, on a subconscious level, more dependent on us.

You close you eyes and open your mind to the Force. You expand your sphere of awareness, feeling out for Cael'la's signature and manage to hone in on it. You sense that it is.. sporadic... in flux like she is under stress. You suspect that she is currently in danger based off of this and you manage to get a good header.

"I found her, I think she may be fighting something."

Ordinarily you would expect a grudging willingness to help when it comes to Cael'la, however she seems uncertain of her own hesitation to help. You are uncertain if this is because she was willing to help fight the krayt dragon, because of her complimenting Nivah's improvements or... other interesting suspicions you have. Regardless your team is ready to move onward.

>What do you do?

>Gun straight for her, no point wasting time

You choose to advance with caution, aiding Cael'la is important, however considering how competent she is as a warrior anything that could pose such a threat to her is nothing to be taken lightly. The tuk'ata leads with you not far behind. You sense that Cael'la is moving toward you rapidly, faster then you suspect she should ordinarily be able to move on her own, and as you cross over the final massive dune you can see why.

Cael'la's blades are dug into the side of a massive dune worm that she appears to be... essentially riding, though it looks more like thrashing about on top of. At this point it appears that she is simply hanging on for her life. Because you chose not to charge head first you have a moment to consider your next course of action.

>What do you do?

>Scan the perimeter for any other threats
>Force jump down on top of the dune worm and try to help her

With a thunderous clap of kinetic energy hitting the ground below you soar through the air, a terrible angel of death. Your blades sink keep into the carapace of the dune worm which shrieks in anguish. You have successfully landed and while you are being violently thrashed about by the worm's wriggling you manage to keep yourself stable enough to turn to Cael'la.

"I KNEW YOU ENJOYED RIDING WORMS BUT THIS IS A BIT RIDICULOUS."

While it's hard to tell with the wind your cybernetic eye is capable of seeing quite clearly that Cael'la has turned a deeper shade of blue and is trying unsuccessfully to stare you down with venom in her eyes.

>Critical Failure

You attempt to rip one of your blades from the back of the dune worm however as you do it thrashes violently and you cannot hold onto your second blade. You are thrown with a force that could kill a more fragile man, however Nivah uses the force to cushion your fall as best as she can. You hit the sand hard however, and your already injured arm is now screaming with pain. You're alive however and still armed. You take a moment to stand, stumbling and taking a moment to regain your senses before turning to Nivah whose face is struck with worry.

Meh, depends. We can still try sticking at range and battering the thing with our pretty well developed Force Push while the pet and expendable close.

Speaking of developed Force Push - we ever gonna insert some more stats into this thing Brine? Once we have developed a bit more?

Lately, all our heavy hitting has been done with our force jump - and our main arm is still fine.

We have also shown some serious Push ability. Battering the thing could have good results - batter it as a group, then alternate between Pushs and people darting in to slash at it before darting back.

I was thinking of just having you guys get better as your training progresses, your connection to the force is naturally strong, however you are technically still in the earlier stages of your training.

If you guys want however I can come up with a skill point system that will allow you to give more focus and definition to the skills that you want to improve faster.

I was actually trying to determine how whether I should allow your skills to progress depending on what abilities you use more, like since you guys force jump so much just make it something you guys are baller at once you graduate, but that might give a better way to come to that decision.

What do you guys think?
>>
>>37455953
If we want to do anything more than a gentle 3 point landing, we need both our hands to steady ourself, especially if we're jumping onto a fucking dragon, so go be a stupid armchair general elsewhere.
>>
>>37455970
I rather like the idea of just developing the abilities we use more often - it encourages us to 'train' the abilities we like in our choices.
>>
>>37455970
I think the issue is that we just don't know where we are at, we can't look to a label to see our progress, what we've got now seems to work, though it would help if we knew where we stood.

If you do go that route, I'd be completely fine with it. But I do like the "Use ability = get better" system as well, as long as we have time to practice outside of combat instead of just experimenting. Either way, Im down, this is a cool quest.

Nivah will submit to us as will our new guy, the dog thing has no use for it. Only the Chiss woman, and if she has an issue with it she is now facing the rest of the group. We've staked our claim on the crystal.

>>37455981
>>so go be a stupid armchair general elsewhere.

Firstly, go fuck yourself. Secondly, why would we jump onto a fucking dragon? We don't need both our arms to force push and pull it around as was discussed earlier. Team effort in force pushing it around to batter it, and having people make quick strikes at it.

Or would you rather we all just go "Nope, one of us is a little hurt, time to go home and mope about missed opportunities?" This is a discussion, you attempted to outright state a fact, you were wrong. We can use the force to guide us in our jump, not that we'd jump onto a dragon.

This is a horrible idea. We use abilities suitable in situations. Improving this way would heavily bias us towards skills that have been useful in situations we face the most while leaving skills we may want to be able to use later weak just because we haven't gotten into situations where they would be useful yet.

IC is a meaningless idea in something like quest because it means some choices are wrong, which means the QM is intentionally giving options that can't be chosen and then we're on railroad tracks and that's bad. It isn't necessarily OOC to choose a less strategic choice because you want to improve it though.

I think having most improvement occur doing some generalized training/time skips is the way to go, with improvement of skills in narrative being tacked on top of that working better. That way we can improve Force Manipulation without trying to mind fuck everyone we run into in the course of the narrative sections.

"CAEL'LA, PULL YOUR BLADE OUT OF THE WORM AND JUMP, WE'LL CUSHION YOUR FALL."

You nod to the others signaling to be ready and they nod in response. Cael'la manages to catch her footing and heave. The moment the blade is freed from the worm she is thrown by it's thrashings and you and the others channel the force to form a cushion for Cael'la. This one is much more effective than the one Nivah had to supply on the fly, and Cael'la manages to land on her feet.

"Alright now together let's try to lift this thing into the air!"

Cael'la looks at you as if you told her you were the Emperor's bastard son.

"Just do it this thing is going to come after us in a second!"

Nivah shouts in support. Cael'la merely nods and you all focus on the force in an attempt to life the gargantuan creature.

thanks for running brine,
How many non-human students are their at the academy? And are there any pureblood sith or do they get their own fancy academy?
>>
>>37456374
Pft, so I take it she's a Cael'la rather than a Nivah?
>>
>>37456374
How many HK-51 are there at the Academy?
>>
>>37456299
Because in the context it implies you have a strickly defined character that must act in a certain way. That doesn't mean that a PC can't have peronality traits but there will always have to be a level of uncertainty to justify the fact that there are 20 or so people voting on his action and no matter what they will not be consistent in the way the PC should act in a situation. This is actually the reason to why any quest featuring a pre-defined protagonist from a pre-defined series always ends up becoming a completely different character; maintaining a strict character, the kind that would force players to think IC, is silly and would cause the medium to lose the point.
>>
>>37456385
Think a mix of the two, Nivah's cuteness both in appearance and action blended with Cael'la's demanding nature. Make her a bit shorter than Nivah with tug old buddies and you''ve got my gf
>>
>>37456380
Purebloods share the academy with you, however there are none in your class. There's a fair dispersion of aliens however humans are predominant

Isn't Nivah like 5'2''? Jeez, she's tiny.
>>
>>37456512
