>Previously, on Mage: the Awakening Quest!

After accidentally stumbling upon the vampire's plans, you and Elizabeth engage in some mild paranoia, having your allies look for magical or electronic bugs in the Library while you took all her pertinent paperwork on a sojurn through the Shadow World to an old, familiar campsite north of the city. After determining no bugs in the Library or on anything you had in your possession, you began to suspect one of Liz's aids may be the mole. After returning to the Library to begin interrogating them, you've cleared three of the 4, though not without some minor hiccups along the way.

> And now, back to the action!

You sigh in frustration as Maher leaves, cracking the built-up tension in your neck. "So, all that's left is Shawna, right?"

"Yeah, I'll go get her." Liz leaves as you pour yourself a glass of water, trying to unwind. This whole thing is starting to go sideways and so far, nothing you've done is working to stall or fix it. A hand pats you on the back as you tense in shock.

"Relax, I'm sure we'll find the leak." Jemma stands beside you, also pouring herself a glass. "It's just taking some time, that's all."

We are currently sitting on 25 exp. built up from the last few threads. No one's come to a consensus just yet on what to spend it on. The main ideas so far are:

1 Dot in Occult
Buying a Dot in Fate
Getting the Familiar merit
Getting Gnosis 4

The resource document has all the information on what we can buy with the experience, along with Michael's current stats.

"It's just... She's my wife, and there's God knows how many vampires all looking to snap her neck and drink her blood like they're tapping a keg at a frat party." You set the glass down, barely noticing at the heavy clunk it hits the table with as you struggle to contain your anger. "There's nothing from a magical or electronic side that's indicating where they got this info., and the aids are all looking to be clean too. The only reason we even know their plan is because I'm so fucking paranoid about losing her again that I'm doing and thinking of as many worst-case scenarios as I can, and what I can do to stop them!"

Jemma just nods, rubbing your back. "I know... You get stuck in that loop of fear and anger and you start trying to figure out how you're gonna save her, and what you'd give up to keep her alive. You're not alone in this. Besides," she leans back, her hand now resting on her hip, lips curling into a sneaky smile. "You still owe me a drink."

At that, Michael blinks. A drink...? Your mind clicks as you remember the deal you made with her way back when you freshly Awoke, telling her that you owed her a drink for all the help she gave you with tracking Elizabeth down in the first place. "None of the cheap stuff, either," you grin back at her. "Only the finest for you, Jemma."

"And me," Sarah says, hand waving in the air like a kid in class trying to get the teacher's attention. "I want some too!"

"so long as you promise to hold your liquor and not cast any spells," you say to Sarah, as the last thing you want to have happen is her cast a black hole because she gets sloshed on the good stuff. "After this business with the vampires then, all of us get together for a night and get completely hammered. Deal?"

"Sounds good to me," Elizabeth says, walking into the room with Shawna in tow. You do a double-take on Shawna, as your brain tries to process that 'she' is technically a guy when your manhood springs to attention. Her sandy blonde hair flows down to her back, as loose strands dangle down to the growing mounds on her chest. She certainly holds herself well, and has curves appearing in all the right places. The treatment must've been going on for a long while to show this degree of change. Elizabeth shows her to the main interrogation chair, and she sits down with a smooth, practiced fashion, not trying to reveal anything underneath her knee-length skirt.

"So, what do you need me for, Mystic," she asks, a soft, feminine voice coming from her lips.

You let Elizabeth take the lead, and she begins asking her (rather aggressive) questions to Shawna about the information leak. And her replies are certainly rather interesting. Instead of Lucas' fear-filled voice, Tiny's disappointed tone, and Maher's '0 fucks given' attitude, she is rather emotionless in her answers, as though she expected them. You click on your Spirit Sight to check her soul out, and it certainly seems like the others; the same grayed out color with moments of color breaking through. Jemma pokes you, so you lean your head over to hear her whisper to you better.

"Her life Pattern is odd."

"How-so?"

"Well, she looks like her 'male' tendencies are all but erased, replaced instead by 'female' ones. Granted, I've never analyzed a person transitioning, so that might just be how it looks to Life magic."

You nod, heading over to replace Elizabeth with your own questions.

"Excuse me, but I was wondering how long you've been in transition?"

Elizabeth looks rather disappointed at you asking such a personal and invasive question, but Shawna just shrugs. "Hmm... Just under two years for the medication, with 6 months of therapy beforehand to make sure that I fit the criteria for gender reassignment. Why, thinking of switching sides yourself," she grins out, eyes darting over to the Mystic for barely a half second before looking back at you. "A little tall and muscley, but you've got the bone structure to accomodate such a change, given enough time."

"And hormones," you reply, noting the glance and lack of mention of medication. "May I see your neck and arms, please?"

"Sure," she replies, brushing her hair back, head tilted to the side to show you both angles of her neck. After seeing no visible signs of bite marks, you motion for her to roll up her sleeves. And there, on her left arm, is a small piece of cotton taped down to the vein in her arm.

"Donate some blood recently," you ask, as Jemma tenses slightly in her seat. Sarah's head stops bobbing back and forth, now intently looking at the young woman.

"As a matter of fact, yes." She pulls out a flier in her pocket, showing you where she went. "I'll admit I was surprised they didn't care that I was in transition, but blood is blood, I doubt gender comes into play with that." You glance at it, noting that it is the exact same flier that the nurse from earlier in the day gave to you. You hand it off to Elizabeth, who scowls at the paper before tossing it onto the table.

Before you can utter another word, you notice one of the spirits you asked to tail Henry float into the room, being one of the few you granted permission to bypass the wards. "<Hey, the guy you wanted us to tail? He's talking with some rather unsavory folk, like the kind you won't see in the waking hours.>"

You sigh in frustration, motioning for Elizabeth to join you. "Just a second, Shawna." You pull her over to Sarah, with Jemma right behind you, still keeping an eye on the aide. "So at the very least she donated blood, at worst she's the mole. But one of the spirits just came in and told me Henry's meeting with some vampires right now."

"I think we should split up," you say to them. "I'll go deal with Henry. Jemma and Mystic, continue working on Shawna, see if she is the leak or not."

"You aren't going alone against an unknown number of vampires," Jemma scowls at you. "I'd be better off with-"

"I'll do it," Sarah says, looking at you directly. Liz and Jemma give the other a worrying glare before turning it towards you.

"You sure," Jemma asks her twin, eyes still looking at Michael.

"It'll be fun," she grins out. Now you are sort of wishing you didn't suggest splitting up. But Jemma is right, you can't go at it alone. Elizabeth needs to stay here to interrogate Shawna, and Jemma would probably work better at restraining her than Sarah, who's more likely to disintegrate her. She at least seems to have taken a fancy to you, so hopefully this won't mean she accidentally kills you if the vampires go to attack.

"All right..." You reach out for Sarah's hand, who grabs onto it like a little schoolgirl getting ready for a walk home with daddy. "Be back soon." you get the address for where Henry is located from the spirit based upon the description of the place; a nightclub in the club district of the city. You brace yourself for the incoming wave of nausea, as everything around you distorts and shifts from the office room in the Library to a back alley just behind the club. You succeed (barely) in keeping your stomach's contents inside your body, as Sarah pulls you along.
>>
> [2/2]

"I wanna dance," she says, tugging harder on your hand. "Let's dance!" You barely blink before realizing she's pulled you past the line and into the club, the two burly bouncers at the door not even noticing you rush past them.

Inside your senses are bashed with the noise of club dance music, people chatting and partying, glasses clinking together and the thumping base pounding next to your ears, even if there's no speakers within eye-sight. The dim lighting is filled with smoke and haze from Lord knows what substances are alight in the club, the dance floor a plexiglass display of flashing lights and colors in-tune to the beat.

"<Your guy is on the balcony,>" the other spirit says, unseen hands guiding your gaze up towards the second level's VIP area, as the sounds from the Shadow World pierce through the club noise as clear as day. "<There's a couple of bouncers blocking the stairs up, and another 3 undead getting all hot and heavy with him.>"

"<Thanks... Now get out of here before things get complicated,>" you reply back.

You go to pull Sarah along with you, only to notice she's no longer in sight, slipping through your gentle grasp on her hand. "God damnit woman," you mutter to yourself. You don't have time for this. You hurry over to the bouncers at the stairs, who immediately tense up and mostly block the way up them. "Hey, fellas, I got a friend up top and I wanted to let him know his ride was leaving soon."

"Tell us his name and we'll pass it along," one of them grunts out, looking down slightly at you. "Only VIPs are allowed up those stairs."

"No exceptions," you hint to them, fingers rubbing together to denote you're willing to pay a bit to get up them.

"No exceptions," the other one mutters out, meaty hand reaching for his holstered sidearm. The fact that he's already reaching for a weapon is worrisome, and signals that he doesn't want anyone going up there, no matter how much you want to pay them. You barely turn around, thinking about other ways to get up there, before you feel an arm wrap around you. You glance down to see Sarah in an entirely new (and very revealing) dress, with makeup applied, clutching your arm like you're her arm candy.

"Misses Robinson," one of the guards mutters out. "Is this gentleman with you?"

"Indeed he is, and we are here to pick up our friend," she replies, voice and posture rather firm and secure in her thoughts and actions, definitely not the childish, naive girl she usually is around you. "Now if you'll excuse us..." She pulls you along with her as the guards part like she was Moses at the Red Sea, her heels clicking on the stairs.

"What... Where... How?"

"Zz'kula frequented the clubs here, stashed away clothes on the Shadow side... Used my body for it's pleasures," she mutters to you, leading you up the stairs and towards where Henry is located. "Now be careful, there is more going on than what it appears." She turns her gaze to the four people on the couch, all engaged in some form of physical contact. One of them is busy with their head bobbing up and down, a second pinching and rubbing, a third kissing and biting. And all three are busy giving such carnal pleasures to Henry, who is struggling to keep himself from blowing his load, hips betraying his mind's intentions.

You turn on your Sights, cycling through them as fast as you can. Henry's soul is grayed out fully, and the other three seem to lack a soul... Or at least, all they have is a pale, wispy aura. From a life standpoint, Henry's going as hard as he can to keep active and to not orgasm right away, his heart pumping as hard as it can while not giving him a heart attack. The other three are dead, not a single pulse to be found.

The three vampires don't seem to notice you two there, instead focusing on their current act of delivering as much carnal pleasure to Henry as they can.

"<They're going to Turn him soon,>" Sarah says to you through the Shadow World. "<We stepping in?>"

"Excuse me," you say, walking up and quickly shoving all the bodies aside, pulling Henry off the couch, his shirt being torn to shreds and pants dangling around his ankles, his rather impressive cock glistening in the club lights. The three vampires all hiss in anger at you, canines elongating into fangs.

"He chose this," the one who was giving him head snarls out. "He belongs to us."

"Not today," Sarah says, hands glowing black. "You let him go, you get to continue un-living. Otherwise..." Her hands pulse out a wave of black, and while you feel nothing, the three vampires all flinch in pain. "Now, bye-bye." She motions for you to follow her down the stairs, and you are all too welcome to do so, as Henry struggles to pull his pants up before tripping and stumbling down the stairs.

"... Michael? What the fuck are you doing here," he asks, as you begin escorting him downstairs and towards the main exit.

"Joseph was worried about you," muttering to him as you exit into the cold night time air. You barely have time to stick a hand out to hail a taxi before one pulls up, as you shove Henry inside. You give directions to the office, as Henry sits there in a rather stunned silence, stuck between you and Sarah. She keeps glancing back at the club, seeing if someone or something is following us, but nothing seems amiss. "What were you thinking," you say to him. "Cheating on Joseph? Come on man!"

"You wouldn't understand," he yells at you. "Being the one that doesn't know what is going on, the one without power. I just feel like arm candy whenever we go out. But they... They were welcoming! They cared about me for me! They even said they were going to give me real power, so that I could stand on equal or higher footing than Joe!"

"They were 2 seconds away from draining you dry," Sarah says, eyes looking Henry over, seeing if anything else is amiss. While you can't see it, you're certain she's using various Sights to see if something is wrong with him. You also aren't sure what they told him, but he certainly doesn't seem to know that they were vampires.

"It'd be more than what Joe's done for me the past few months," he mutters out.

"Did you try talking to Joseph about all these worries you have, or did you just get a stick shoved up your ass and decided to cheat on him in spite?"

If he could get any angrier you're pretty sure it's not possible without any magical aid. "Of course I tried talking to him, but he just brushed me off and focused on his fucking job!"

"Well, he was worried about you, because he sent me to look into what you were up to," you yell back.

"Oh, so he sent his butt boy to spy on me!?" He goes to grab you, before Sarah smacks him on the back of the head. "What the hell, woman!?"

"Fuck your partner when you see him, THEN talk to him," she calmly says to him.

He snorts and glares at her, before sitting quietly in the cab. The rest of the cab ride passes in silence as you send a text message to Joseph to meet you out in the lobby, knowing that even though it's almost 11 PM at night, he's still at the office. And sure enough, when you pull up Joseph's pacing about in the lobby, ringing his hands in worry.

"Henry, what happened?" He hurries over to the cab as you three climb out the back, as you hand the taxi driver a $100 bill to keep quiet about what happened in the cab. As for Henry, he just grabs Joseph by the wrist, pulling him inside.

"You. Me. Your office. NOW." Joseph looks back at you in a mix of shock, fear, and growing arousal. At that, you just shrug your shoulders.

"Just call me when you can," you yell back to Joseph as they head inside the elevator, Henry literally tearing the shirt off Joseph as the doors open into the carriage.

"Can I spy on them while they do it," Sarah asks, face blushing red.

"No." At that, she sticks out her bottom lip in a pouting, pity me manner. "Please, your puppy dog eyes are not nearly as good as Elizabeth's. I'll show you some guy-on-guy porn later or something." You grab onto her hand, which she reluctantly takes. You lead her down the street and into the alley, and within seconds you re-appear back at the Library, as Elizabeth and Jemma are busy looking at something on the table.

"Welcome back," Liz says, eyes barely glancing up to acknowledge your arrival.

"Where did you get this dress, Sarah," Jemma runs over to her sister, grabbing the silky fabric. "It's gorgeous."

"In the bad days," she replies, peeling out of the dress itself as though it were made of poison. You quickly turn your eyes to the sky, already having seen her nude you don't need to get any more aroused than everything you've seen tonight. The sound of a zipper being yanked open echoes behind you, and several seconds later Jemma pulls your head back down, revealing Sarah is wrapped in a large, thick, and rather comfortable looking blanket, the dress itself thrown aside on her duffle bag.

"Shawna checked out fine," Elizabeth says, still looking at something on the table. You walk over and see her analyzing the map from before, with some new annotations made on it. "But she revealed something interesting."

"And what's that?"

"So... The blood drive locations are also outposts for the vampires?" That seems to make sense; they're safe spots that they have control over, so why not have their allies also be able to hide out there?

"Makes sense to me," Liz replies. "So at the very least we have an idea of where they are hiding during the daytime hours."

"We still have to figure out where they got the info. from," Jemma says. "And if it's not from a mole, electronic or magical spying device, then the only things left that I can think of is one of the Mages are working with the vampires, or we're dealing with a VERY powerful vampire."

"How powerful of a vampire are we talking here?"

At that, Elizabeth shrugs. "Honestly, I don't know. The last cabal I dealt with had their strongest person be a little over 150 years old, and she was pretty difficult to kill. Admittedly I know little about vampires, as they aren't usually willing to share or divulge information, where-as werewolves are usually tolerant of Mages so long as we don't meddle in spiritual affairs."

"Not to mention that their definition of 'magic' is not the same as ours. When we do spells, it's us forcing our Will upon the Fallen Realm. For them, it's some innate ability they have," Jemma replies. "So it may be that we're dealing with a vampire that's not easily detected by our wards and countermeasures."

"Great.... So, what now?"

At that, the room goes silent.

You barely notice it but catch what looks like a hanging cloud of mist high above you, hovering almost exactly over where Elizabeth is standing.

Everything seems to freeze for a moment as your mind shifts into overdrive, and before you're even aware of it, a bolt of concentrated Spirit energy is flying from your hands at the mist cloud. The cloud itself instantly coalesces into a solid shape, the bolt of energy whizzing harmlessly past the humanoid figure hanging in the air above you. The figure's eyes flash red, pale skin descending quickly onto Elizabeth, hands turning into a clawed shape, a fanged smile acknowledging your existence.

"Liz!" You reach over and pull her aside as a clawed hand strikes where her head was just at not even a quarter of a second ago, threads of her silvery white hair tangled in its grasp. Jemma and Sarah turn in shock as the vampire impacts the table, shattering it into a million pieces of wood.

"Mikheil," Liz hisses out, hands glowing purple. "You should be dead!"

"Not as dead as you are about to be," the vampire hisses back. You barely have time to shoot your eyes above you, as another dozen clouds of mist begin to filter in through the ventilation ducts for the room.

I did a bit of research on Vampires in nWoD, and found that the mist was the most logical explanation of how they got inside.
>>
Damn, I missed it again.

We should've ganked those vampires in the club though, they will only bring more trouble in the future.

Wasn't the Library warded? I suppose they could brute force it, but they'd need their own magic.

The Library is warded, and said wards will go off next quest.

Aren't wards supposed to keep people out? Were they brought down by something?
