Psychic Rebel Thread 13

You are Shee Hyul, rebel and psychic. Your world is ruled by inhuman creatures and this has gone on far too long, it’s time to fight back.

You wake up in the dorm at the Psychic Research Facility in a comfortable bed with a proper blanket over you, damn that feels good. Yoou were worried that you’d godden too used to the wooden pallet and rags you usually slept on in Dust Town and that you wouldn’t be able to sleep in a proper bed.

Lirael is cuddled up at your side and gives a non-verbal protest as you rise to go visit the bathroom, but quiets down when you tuck the blanket around her before leaving. When you return you look over at Rainyas bed to see how well she sle- wait, where is Rainya? Her bed is empty and the blankets are gone! You rush over, only to see Rainya sleeping on the floor, the blanket wrapped around her. You smile yeah, if sleeping in a proper bed was weird for you, for someone raised in Dust Town it must have been really strange.

You peek into the other dorm and see Dev likewise sleeping on the hard floor wrapped in a couple of blankets. You head to the kitchen and try to make an edible breakfast out of the dried foods there. Eventually the smell of your cooking brings Dev, Lirael and Rainya wandering sleepily into the kitchen where they eat the food you’ve prepared with gusto. Despite the rather stale taste it’s apparently the best food they’ve eaten in a long time. Once the four of you have finished breakfast you teleport everyone back to your shack in Dust Town. You take Lirael to school and Dev, Rainya and you head to your jobs in the Hive.
>>
Work passes without incident and before you know it you are heading to the bus to go back to Dust Town. Tomorrow is your day off, you have 2 days until you’re due to meet Sergeant Yonsul again and 3 days until your next mission with Charun and the rebels.

What are you going to do tonight?

>Head to Psychic Research Facility (with whom?)
>Just hang out (with whom?) – not doing anything
>Seek the favour of one of the Five (which?)
>Go see Charun

>>
Didn't we have some sort of plan last time?
>>
>>37395226
We still need to:
Talk with Charun about the mech
Talk with the other guy about our psychic powers, but we can do that right before the mission too
Get Rainya a proper gun
And possibly get a new psyhcic power, depending on how the Mirror gift revote goes.
>>

We could probably do both of these.

We should get a new psychic discipline regardless of the mirror vote.

Seems it's locked in as head to Facility with Rainya, Dev and Lirael, gun training plus warmech.

Writing this (gun training first).

[Meta]

There will be a re-vote upon which of the Gifts of the Infinite Mirror to gain. Re-vote will be called in 10 minutes or so and will last 5 minutes.

The three gifts to choose from are:

Clouded Reflection
None of your Gifts with obvious physical effects show on your form unless you are using them or wish them to show. This Gift does not have higher ranks, sufficiently powerful magic can pierce this disguise.

Bleached Mind
You may remove memories from your mind and hide them in glass or other reflective objects. You are not aware that the memory exists unless you look at the glass (or object) – though you may recall that the glass or object is important to you and that you do not want to lose it. You may fully recover the memory from the glass or object at any time whilst looking at it and you automatically fully recover the memory if the glass or object is destroyed. Powerful magic can be used to extract the memory from the glass or object but the memory cannot be read from your mind whilst held in the object (unless you are looking at it whilst your mind is being read)

Willpower of the Infinite Mirror
Of the Five, the Infinite Mirror is the most skilled sorcerer. Willpower of the Infinite Mirror increases the Willpower of the bearer of the gift, as well as grants them additional mystical energies.
Initially this increases Willpower by 2 and Psychic Energy by 5.
Later levels increase these bonuses and unlock specific magic-themed powers.

Well, shit.
I was primed on getting Clouded Reflection just to be safe in case of a failed shaping roll.
But then you go and add something this amazing.

Looks like competition between Bleached Mind and Willpower, depending on if you want to show everything to Kae or not.
>>
>>37395391
Bleached Mind certainly seems the most immediately useful, especially since in this version we can get it all back.

Getting more willpower is pretty fine too. Especially since we are capped, and it would be our only way to get more willpower currently.

Bleached mind is kinda restricted in use against Kae, due to the fact we can't really get that many mirrors to hide all our Old God bargaining in it.
Which is really my main concern, the deal with Yonsul isn't really something we need to hide, since Kae will see we never intended to betray her to begin with, and we can't use the power as excuse to Yonsul how we avoided mind-reading.
>>
>>37395606

Psychic Shield under Metapsionics, which has a large number of useful abilities in addition to that.

It's also Willpower-based.
>>

Other ways exist, but the only one we know for sure of, would betray to her we are hiding something.

I guess I don't really need to count the votes on that, ok, update soon.
>>
>>37395669
We don't have any mutations at this point and willpower is just good. But these new powers make we want to get more IM favor.
>>
>>37395669
It would have had better chances if it would have been the exact same choice again. But Willpower is way too shiny.
>>
>>37395716
>We don't have any mutations at this point
The issue is really we need something that allows us to hide mutations we get from a failed hsaping roll.
Its possible we won't be in a position to ask for a favor fast enough to get the hiding power if we need it.
If Willpower weren't so great, I'd have picked CR.
>>
>>37395742
Failed shaping rolls don't necessarily mean mutations, and Willpower will help us with passing those in addition to it's other benefits.
>>
>>37395781
>don't necessarily mean mutations
But they very well can mean mutations.
As I said, Willpower is definitly better, but hiding mutations will not only become important once we 'want' mutations.
There aren't that many we would want in the first place, and for those, getting a perhipheral to physically hide them, would be more reliable.
>>
>>37395670
>Psychic Shield under Metapsionics
Doesn't really do what we want. Psychic Shield prevents mindreading outright, it won't help us with letting Kae read our mind while preserving some secrets.
If anything, Psychic Surgery under Telepathy, would be the alternative.
>>
You know. It might be easier to gain favor for Baalzamon if he were the god of manipulation and deceit instead of just straight up lies.
Basically every time we see his name he's asking us to make a stupi lie, or to lie to our friends in a way that could come back to bite us very easily.

Just a random thought.
>>
>>37395908
He is what he is.
And nominally, he is exactly that. It just that his favor choices sofar haven't really shown that.
>>
>>37395908
I know and I do intend him to be more about manipulation etc. I will try to think of options that are not just lies for lies sake.

You head out to pick up Lirael from school and find Rainya and Dev at dinner with the rest of the Dusters. You and Lirael grab a quick meal and then you lead everyone away back to your home. You’re not sure why but teleporting to places from your home feels easier, the privacy and familiarity perhaps?

Once you’re all assembled in the dorms of the psychic research facility Dev flexes his arms to make sure they’re still attached and asks “So are we working on the robot suit today? I’ve been wanting to try it out.”

“What makes you think you’re going to be using it?” asks Rainya

“Hey it looks like a front-line kindof weapon” says Dev “That’s a mans job.”

You shake your head and smile “First” you say “We need to see what sort of weapons you’re good with, Teacher?”

The Teachers image materialises next to you, Dev jumps back a bit “What the?” he exclaims.

“Students Hyul and Halms” says the Teacher “How are your classes progressing?”

“Well enough” you say “But we want to try weapons training, do you have a shooting range?”

“Scanning records” says the Teacher “Accessing clearance level, yes Cadet Hyul, you are permitted access to the simulated range.”

“The what?” asks Dev, you shrug, you’ve never heard of it.

“I know this!” says Lirael “Sim ranges are fun.”

The Teacher leads you to an explored part of the facility and you see a dusty firing range with targets at the other end, as you enter the lights go on and you get a better look. It looks like a standard firing range except where the shooters would normally stand are some sort of harness hanging from the roof, holding a model gun of unknown design.

“What is this?” you ask the Teacher.

“A simulated firing range” says the Teacher “Each of the SimGuns can accurately model the action and recoil of various types of energy and solid-ammunition weapons.”

“Is it any good?” you ask sceptically.

“Its fun!” insists Lirael, strapping herself into a harness.
>>
“It is a widely used training tool across the Cooooore-” drones the Teacher before continuing “Besides, you do not have the clearance to access the weapons lockers.”

You mentally file away *weapons lockers* for later consideration and look at your companions.

“I guess it can’t hurt” says Rainya with a shrug.

Dev shakes his head “Lets just find an abandoned room” he suggests “and use real guns, not this fake computer stuff.”

What do you do?

He said protect our thoughts from Kae, not selectively alter our memories so we can let her see all our thoughts.

Can we even do Psychic Surgery on ourselves? That seems like it could end really poorly.

It wouldn't really solve the problem, either, since we'd either need to remove the memories entirely or risk our alterations being spotted and undone. It might be possible to undo memory removal as well, I'm not sure. We'd be gambling on the Fae either not noticing the metaphorical surgical scars or failing to beat our Willpower roll.
>>
>>37395980
>>37396012
Seconding this taunt.
>>
>>37396262
I never said it was a good solution.
But Psychic Shield is no solution at all, since the entire point was to gain Kaes trust with letting her read our memories.
We don't need a power to keep her from reading our mind, because she has no intention of doing it on her own to begin with, its a prove of trust.
>>
“Ammo costs money Dev” you say “this doesn’t. Besides, you afraid Lirael can beat your score?”

Dev gives you a disbelieving look and says “Oh it is on!” and straps himself into a harness with the rest of you, as Lirael happily blazes away with the SimGun.

In the harness you see holographic targets appear as well as the option to pick a weapon, or run a tutorial with different weapons, ah what the heck, you’ll try a bit of everything. You cycles through various ranged weapons, most of which you’ve heard of, some you haven’t. You take a few shots with each, getting the feel for them at then start blazing away at the targets, losing track of time. Thanks to the body harness the SimGun gives a realistic kick when using slug-thrower weapons and gives you a feel for the way plasma guns splash burning fuel everywhere.

Eventually it’s over and a computerised unemotional voice lists off a string of numbers, adding “Cadet Hyul, you display a talent for solid ammunition long-arms, have you considered enrolling in the Rifle Elective.”

No need to enrol, you think smugly, you already know how to shoot. Your companions fare...differently.

Rainya is apologising to the computer “I’m sorry” she says “I just couldn’t hit the far targets very easily.”

“You hit 2 out of 50 long range targets” drones the computer “but 20 out of 50 close targets.”

Yeah that’s not great but...the close targets come in swarms and move around a lot, you only got half of them. Seems Rainya isn’t going to be a sniper, but can hit close fast moving targets fairly well, perhaps some sort of rapid-fire weapon or a pistol would suit her better?

Dev seems to be over his initial misgivings, firing his SimGun on some sort of shotgun mode and yelling “Yeah get some! Oh you want some, here have some more, yeah you too, plenty more here!”

“Dev” you say, he ignores you “Dev!” you yell. Dev turns to look at you and sheepishly stops firing.
>>
“Sorry” he says “The kid was right, it was fun...”

The computer reels off his scores – quite frankly his accuracy sucks, but he doesn’t seem bothered despite shooting off hundreds of shotgun rounds – your shoulder feels tender and you only tried a dozen or so shots. He’d probably do best with some sort of shotgun, or maybe a heavier repeater slug-thrower.

Lirael continues to plug happily away at targets. According to her scores she’s good at all ranges, and with any weapon, but then it seems like she’s tried this before. You’re not sure what weapon is best for her.

This is fun, but maybe it’s served its purpose.

You feel an echoing inside you and then it fades. You feel stronger somehow, more confident.

[Willpower of the Infinite Mirror 1 gained]

“Enough shooting for today” you say “We’ve got a Warmech to fix.”

Rainya and Dev take off their harnesses, Lirael continues to fire.

“C’mon Lirael” you say “You can play with the SimGuns later”

“But my high score!” whines Lirael, though she eventually follows you.

You all head down to the Warmech bay and you continue to fix the Warmech. Each of your allies takes their turns helping you and you talk them through what you’re doing. You spend several hours on your project, until you feel it’s almost ready for a test-run.

[Warmech repairs 91% complete]

Still, it’s getting late and your allies are looking bored. Lirael is fully occupied with a computer game on a datapd and Dev and Rainya are exploring the rest of the repair bay.

“Hey what’s this?” asks Dev, calling you over to a huge bulkhead that is covered in dust. Eh, you might as well take a short break, you join Dev and Rainya as Dev wipes the dust off the bulkhead and reads the words written upon it “Warmech Manufactory” he says, repeating it again, then adding “Shee does whatever is behind this door make warmechs?”

“Not just warmechs” you say, wiping more dust off the door “apparently it was built to be able to repair Hunter-Class Great Engines, whatever those are.” The name rings a bell in your mind but you can’t quite place it.

“Well it can wait until tomorrow” says Rainya “I’m tired and it’s late, we should turn in.”

You should, but you’re so *close* to finishing. Of course you’ll be tired at work tomorrow...

“Yeah” you say “let’s turn in.” The four of you head up to your beds in the dorms and get some rest.

You wake up the next morning feeling refreshed and energised. After breakfast you teleport everyone back to your shack and you each head you separate ways for the day. Work passes in a blur, there’re a lot of contracts starting now and you’re kept bust filing work orders and correcting mistakes made by others. There’re a lot of requests for people with mechanical/engineering experience, far more than your firm can keep up with. It’s all on some sort of big project that’s taking place outside the Hive. You’d be tempted to volunteer for the extra pay but the job description states that workers will be living on-site for several weeks at a time.

It also doesn’t say what the job is, from the description its some sort of large scale project though, a power reactor? A weapon?

Still, the pay is fantastic...they’re paying four times market rates....

You mentally shake your head, no, you have too much going on with the rebellion and your friends for now. You plan to alert Charun to it, whatever it is, the rebellion may be interested in it.

After work you head back to Dust Town and collect Lirael from school, taking her to the mess area as you keep an eye out for Rainya and Dev. As the two of you grab some stew and some seats a plump older Duster woman sits next to you, she looks kinda familiar....

“I’m Gisel Mosul” she says, ah yes, you remember as she confirms it “I’m Dev’s mother, I just wanted to talk to you Shee, if you have a moment.”

“Sure” you say, doesn’t hurt to be polite.

“What an adorable child!” says Gisel, fussing over Lirael for several minutes, Lirael eats up the attention. Then Gisel says to a cheerful Lirael “Shee and I need to have a short chat, we’ll only be but a moment child.” Lirael nods happily and goes back to her dinner, as Gisel walks away, beckoning you to follow. Oh yeah, this doesn’t feel ominous.

You stop a short distance away, Gisel keeps walking but seeing you’re not going to go too far from Lirael she comes back and says to you in a low but firm voice “I don’t know what you’ve gotten my boy into” she says “But I know a scheming up-hive girl could probably wrap a simple duster lad around her fingers easily.”

What?

Before you can protest she adds “I know he’s been spending the nights with you, and that Halms girl, I don’t care which of you he’s bedding, I don’t want him getting hurt, you leave my boy alone, you hear!” despite her calm tone and quiet voice she gives you a fierce glare and her hand fondles a bulge on her hip, a weapon of some kind?

Gisel gives you a hard glare and says “see that it stays that way.” Looks like you’ve convinced her, sort of.

You head back to Lirael who is just finishing her dinner and you catch sight of Rainya and Dev and beckon them over.

Dev drops his head into his hands as he walks “Yeah thanks ma” he says, adding to you “Thanks for putting her off Shee, I mean, I love my ma but she can’t get that I’m an adult now.”

You tap on the head in question “You’ll get it” you reassure him, adding “Just make sure you tell her we aren’t” you feel yourself starting to blush “Y’know, what she seems to think we’re doing.”

Dev looks away “of course” he says “I mean, I don’t where Ma gets it from, sorry about that Shee.”

“It’s nothing” you say, eager to have that conversation over with. The four of you get down to the repair bay and you set to work with a will, Dev assists you and you explain what you’re doing every step of the way.

“Ok” you say, barely two hours later “If I just start it up aaaaand....” Everyone watches as you power up the warmechs reactor, sat in the pilots seat but with the canopy open.

The Warmech takes a faltering step, and then another.

“It works!” says Dev “Alright Shee, can I have a go?”

Rainya applauds and Lirael says proudly, folding her arms “That’s my Shee.”

[Warmech repairs Completed!]

Finally, you’ve done it. The Warmech you’ve been working on has been fully repaired!

[Meta]

The Core Worlds Light Infantry Warmech stands close to ten feet tall, has a heavy laser rifle and charged plasma sword as its main armament, it has thick armour plates and a heavy particle shield. Though you currently only have the basic version you have guides on how to upgrade it, you just need to find the parts and spend the time to do it.

Vehicle Sensors
Perception checks in a vehicle are made as normal but gain a bonus from the vehicle (listed in the vehicles statistics block) and the pilots Use Computer Skill. In addition a Vehicles sensors reveal more about a target, depending upon how much it beats the required DC to spot the target by.
5 or more points: Presence of active shield; presence of energy weapon used in the last minute; presence of living crew. (E.g. “Target has an active force shield and a recently-used energy weapon.”)
10 or more points: Location, number, type and rating (shields-only) of those listed under ‘5 or more points’; Presence of non-active energy weapons, presence of non-energy weapons. (E.g. “Target has an active particle shield, 2 recently-used plasma pistols concealed in their jacket and a non-energy weapon.”)
15 or more points: Location and type of those listed under *10 or more points*; Allocation of power from reactor. (E.g. “Target has an active particle shield, 2 plasma pistols concealed in their jacket and a knife strapped to their ankle.")
>>
Reactor Output
Many (not all) vehicles are powered by long-lived reactors. Reactors power all the vehicles systems and can channel additional power to certain systems to boost their effects. If a reactor can do this safely the number of systems it can safely simultaneously enhance will be listed in the reactor section of the statistics block. It does not take an action to allocate additional reactor power.

The effects of enhancing systems are as follows:
Engines: Increase speed by 25%, increase vehicle strength by 25%
Shields: Increase Shield Rating by 10
Weapons: Increases damage by 50% - this applies to energy damage only
Each weapon system is a separate system when it comes to enhancing them.

Reactors can provide additional power to more systems than they can do so safely, each additional system they are enhancing beyond their safe limit has a cumulative 25% chance that something will go wrong.
Most commonly the reactors safety systems kick in and the reactor shuts down – taking several minutes or more to restart.
However a reactor operating beyond safe limits may experience power surges that damage the vehicles systems or (very rarely) result in a reactor overloading and exploding.

Vehicle Hit Points
Enclosed Vehicles (like Warmechs) provide full cover to the crew. Any attacks that hit the vehicle deal damage to the vehicles hit points only, until the vehicle reaches 0 hit points, at which point the vehicle is non-functional.
Particularly powerful attacks may cause some damage to the crew, as well as attacks capable of penetrating or bypassing the vehicles armour.
Vehicle hit points and damage reduction function like normal hit points and damage reduction and all conversions (i.e, damage dealt to or by vehicles) is 1:1.

“Sure” you say to Dev, climbing out of the Warmech and helping Dev get settled in, talking him through the controls “It should be fairly intuitive, it moves its legs when you move yours, your arms as you move yours, here’s the power, sensors...”

It doesn’t take long before Dev is stomping around the repair bay in the Warmech as Lirael and Rainya look on in amazement. “Yeah look at me!” he says “I’m unstoppable!”

“Try shooting that scrap” suggests Rainya, pointing at a pile of broken Warmech parts. The weapons systems do need testing you suppose...

Dev obliges and melts the pile into a slag heap with a few shots, which he then proceeds to carve chunks off using the warmechs sword. Lirael laughs in delight at Devs antics.

Dev is kinda slow in that thing, he just needs to practise, well he has a good 3-4 hours to practise with it and he seems happy to just go at it.

You could stay and watch, maybe try it yourself, or you could do something else tonight. You don’t have work tomorrow so you could stay up late, but then you’d probably wake up late too.

You decide to stay and watch. You’re in no rush to do anything and the Warmech might break down after all. You spend the rest of the evening talking Dev through the warmechs systems, how to use it. You make sure that he understands how to use all the warmechs systems, and you have him practise walking around, practising using the plasma sword in combat and generally making sure that he actually spends his time using it and learning, rather than goofing off.

Rainya and Lirael find the whole process interesting and stay to watch. Eventually however Lirael starts to flag and curls up on a bench, Yeah it is kinda late after all.

“Ok” you say to Dev “That’s enough, time to turn in for the night.”

“Aww c’mon Shee” he says “five more minutes”

“No” you say with a laugh “It’ll still be here tomorrow.”

“Awww” complains Dev, but climbs out of the Warmech “Say Shee, how are we going to get it to the surface?”

Rainya picks up Lirael and heads up to the dorms, leaving you and Dev alone

“This is a repair bay” you point out “There will be a lift or shaft to the surface somewhere, we just need to find it.”

“And if we can’t” says Dev “Will you teleport it?”

“I dunno” you say “Maybe”

“Can you?” he asks “It’s pretty big.”

“I don’t know” you reply

“Maybe you should try” he suggests

Will you try?

>>
>>37400137
It's not actually that risky. We'd only misjump if we fail by a huge margin or autofail, and I don't think it's malus due to mass is great enough for that to be possible between the skill modifier and familiarity bonus due to repairing it. Teleporting it back down again isn't a problem if we can Teleport it out in the first place.

If you're really worried about the mass being too great, we could try Apporting it instead, it's bonuses lower the DC gained from high mass.

We could also just Teleport a couple of meters to see if we can, since distance is irrelevant to Teleport until you hit the range limit.

“Lets look for a lift before we head to bed” you suggest to Dev. The two of you search the repair bay from top to bottom. Finally you locate what might be a lift door behind a pile of scrap. With Devs help you force the doors open. Yup, it’s a lift shaft that goes up and up and up, probably all the way out of the facility, but where it comes out you don’t know. Also there’s no sign of the lift and the thing doesn’t seem to be working anyway.

“Any good?” asks Dev

“Maybe” you say “but we don’t know where it comes out, and even if we did, that’s a long climb.”

“The mech can handle it” says Dev confidently

“It can” you say “But if you fall whilst climbing, not even the Warmech can completely protect you, and it’ll take me days to repair. For now, let’s just rest and we’ll look at it in the morning.”

“Sure thing” says Dev, letting the lift doors close.
---
The next morning you all rise and eat breakfast together. You teleport Rainya and Dev back to Dust Town – although you have the day off, they don’t. Once you get back Lirael complains about how thirsty she is and you spend a highly pleasurable hour feeding her, healing and then feeding her again. Oh wow, you can’t believe you gave up this feeling, you never want to be without this ever again.

You and Lirael lie together on your bed, arms wrapped around one another as you just bask in the feeling of joy and happiness running through you, your muscles feeling like liquid and a content smile on your face – mirrored by Liraels own happy smile as she snuggles up against you.

“So what are we doing today Shee?” asks Lirael

You have stuff you need to do, but you don’t care. Cuddled up with Lirael you just enjoy the feeling as occasional jolts of pleasure still fire from where she bit you, arching through your body. You’re relaxed and happy and content, all the stresses of your life seem so far away and unimportant, all that matters is this glorious feeling and the little girl in your arms, her head resting on your shoulder as her tongue darts out to lick the last few drops of blood from where she bit you.

As her tongue touches the wound you writhe in pleasure as your body and mind flash back to the best parts of the last hour. You recall Lirael feeding hungrily from you, biting deep and drawing blood from you in a rush as you held her close to you, your eyes rolling back in your head, her arms wrapped around your neck...

As you come back to the present you kiss her tenderly on the forehead “You’re the best” you whisper to her. Lirael mumbles something.

“What was that Lirael?” you ask.

“You’re my feeder, right Shee?” asks Lirael

“Well unless I’m imagining the last hour” you say “Yeah, I think I am.”

“I mean” says Lirael, considering her words “You’ll always be *my* feeder right, and not feed any other vampires?”

“I might not have a choice” you say “Some vamps” you think of Quinn “Don’t understand *no*, besides, what if I need to save someone’s life by feeding them?”

Lirael rolls her eyes “Other than that” she says “You’ll be my feeder won’t you Shee, mine alone?”

“I do have other friends who may feed on me,” you say as you get up, tousling Liraels hair “Ash for example. But I will always be here for you Lirael.”

“That’s not how it works!” complains Lirael “Feeders are for one vampire at a time Shee!”

“So your parents never shared with you at all?” you ask Lirael as she sits up on the bed

“That’s different” insists Lirael “That’s family, not, not some other vampire.”

“Lirael” you say, facing her “I’m sure your parents cared about their feeders, but did they-”

Lirael interrupts “They didn’t have any” she says “Not exclusive ones, we were always moving from place to place. We had to pay feeders or sometimes mum would find someone and we would feed and she’d take their memories. But we always saw other vampires with feeders, best friends and family and so happy.”

Tears start to fall from Liraels face into her lap, her head hanging down “I miss my mum and dad” she sobs “I just want, I want them back.”

Ah dammit, poor thing. You hug Lirael tight and she clings to you and bawls. She just wants some sort of family or permanence or something in her life and maybe she thinks having you as a feeder will do that.

“It’s all right” you say, sitting beside her and hugging her tightly “I’m going to look after you, I promise, and we’re going to find your parents. I’ll feed you whenever you need it Lirael I’m not going to abandon you.”

Eventually the sobbing subsides and Lirael is quiet.

“Feeling better?” you ask. She nods, still a little red-faced “C’mon” you say “I have some stuff to do but afterwards we’ll do something fun together, like SimGuns, ok?”

“Yeah” says Lirael, smiling a little.

You head to the Psychic Activation Chamber, the Teacher appears as you enter.

To be fair, that custom was to the most part samefagged anyway, so its not actually that many retards. Just the guy who keeps ranting about how bratty that orphan girl is for wanting someone to give her attention and love
>>
>>37401790
Being her feeder is different from giving her attention and love.
>>
>>37401790
But that's wrong.

Writer of write in here, i hate samefagging i only dropped my one vote.
>>
>>37401803
No, its basically exactly that.
She doesn't have anything but that, and she needs a feeder,a nd vampire culture encourages her to see a feeder as personal thing.
So obviously she is gonna see it like that.

As Lirael settles down with her datapad and a game you strip naked and climb into the tank marked *Telepathy* after setting it to run for 3 hours. Once again the cold liquid fills the tank and you breathe through a tube, body held in a harness, you pass out.
----
All around are voices, too many to listen to, too many to count. In the background there is the buzzing of thousands upon thousands of insects interspaced with roars of some sort of animal. A thought not your own forces its way into your head before you cast it out, rejecting it as foreign, unnatural.

Before you cast it out the voice said *You are one with the Hive*
----

You wake up in the tank, the fluid draining away as you shake your head, what was that? The Hive? You’re a Duster now, not a Hiver.

You climb out of the tank, dry yourself off and get dressed. It’s just after midday and you have a good chunk of the day ahead of you before you need to speak to Detective Yonsul.

Across the room you see Lirael speaking to the Teacher. What are your plans?

>Explore facility
>Activate psychic power (very risky, this pleases Jagganatha)
>Simguns
>Try get into Manufactory
>Talk to Lirael (topic?)
>Other (what?)

----
Thread ends there, thank you for playing. Next thread in just over 12 hours.

Please do vote – I’ll use the results for next OP.

For your actions today you gain 8XP

I’ll stick around for a few minutes to answer questions, but then I must sleep.

Because of the time you have spent with Rainya and Dev, both will be added to allies pastebin.
>>
Why did we go for Telepathy instead of Metapsionics?

My ISP was acting up.

Take Lirael.
>>

We promised Lirael
>>37402169
I personally do not intend to hide our mind from Kae, so Telepathy was the the better choice, since we will soon acquire something that improves our mind-influencing disciplines.
>>
>>37402163
>Simguns
>Lets see who gets the higher score

So much progress down the drain.
oh well, got enough time to work on it.

>>37402169
Dunno. Wasn't exactly a overwhelming victory for Telepathy either. I guess those other 14 voters must have left already.
>>
>>37402306
I didn't even vote during the power thing. So if the vote is close you know what happened.
>>
I forgot to add, you gained the telepathy power: Illusion. This has been added to the character sheet.
>>
>>37402329
Oh great.
That would have been one of those I would have tried to get.
>>
>>37402219
>Telepathy was the the better choice
Psychic Shield wasn't for Kae, it's useful in general; Alter Power is amazing; Psychic Sense is fairly useful and would allow us to learn Divert Teleport; Psychic Static and Drain Power would be very useful against enemy magic-users (e.g. the Gifted we're probably going to be fighting *tomorrow*) and allow us to boost our own powers, in the case of Drain Power.

It also has only 5 disciplines compared to 11 meaning we could get the Master bonus relatively quickly.

There aren't very many good Telepathy abilities. Better than if we had gotten Clairsentience, at least.

>we will soon acquire something that improves our mind-influencing disciplines
If you mean the crown, it doesn't do that.

>>37402306
My ISP needs to eat 50 dicks.

>>37402329
We got one of the better disciplines, at least.
>>
>>37402350
>If you mean the crown, it doesn't do that.
It augments mind-affecting powers. So yes, it does exactly that.
>>
>>37402414
>Charisma of the King of Hell 5: You can summon forth a crown of flickering flames at will, when using this you add you your rank in this power to any check that involves commanding or leading people as you summon infernal authority to aid your argument. Once this level is gained you decide upon the appearance of your *crown*: It might be a simple band, a literal crown with ornate decoration and jewels, an insubstantial aura, or something else. Once chosen this appearance cannot be changed unless the holder of this power undergoes a shift in attitudes about leadership and authority, whichever appearance is chosen the visual effects of this power are obvious.

>At Charisma of the King of Hell 6 you gain a +2 bonus to your Fellowship ability score. This does not count against your Fellowship score when calculating XP costs and can exceed normal human limits.

>At higher than 6 this power accumulates power flaws
>>
>>37402163
How much does Willpower cost to upgrade at this point? Does it follow the same model as Charisma (e.g. 2 XP/Degree until Fifth Degree, then 5 XP/Degree)?
>>
>>37402350
It was the better choice from my perspective.
Our Fellowship sucks, so getting something to make people see things our way is good.
We are afraid of mutations betrying us, Illusion can help us with that.
Sense Minds is good for our sniper build.

>>37402433
>At higher levels you can summon a crown of green flames to augment any mind-affecting powers
If Pally changed it since then, I could see why anon got it wrong.
>>
>>37402163
Thanks for running Pally.

Looks like I need to reset my "X Threads since blatant samefagging"-Clock.
But we're getting somewhere!
>>
>>37402433
>Its not a crown of green fire anymore

EXPLAIN THIS SHIT PALLY!!!

But seriously though. I need my Crown of green fire.
Can't be green sun princess without.
>>
>>37402491
Yeah, things change behinds the scenes somewhat frequently. Might need to start making changelog metaposts at the beginning of threads, actually. I wonder if anyone has even noticed the Tech Specialist feats.

The ability to boost mind-affecting talents might still be after 6th degree, but I don't think any of us want to risk getting a flaw for that, at least not now.

Our Fellowship is actually pretty good now. Persuasion is at +7, Intimidate and Command are +5 and Deception is +2. Command jumps up to +10 if we activate the crown.

Illusions is pretty good. Sense Minds is good, but situational. I feel like we'll regret not having Psychic Shield when Quinn is trying to mind-fuck us more than not having any particular Telepathy power when it would be useful. Subtle Talent (Alter Power) is something I know we're going to wish we had the next time anything fun happens in the Hive.

Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk, lets just make sure we get Metapsionics next time. Starting to get nervous about still not having a Psychic Shield.

>>37402709
We can probably specify green fire when deciding appearance.
>>
>>37402783
>wonder if anyone has even noticed the Tech Specialist feats
I did, but most of them aren't exactly overwhelming.

My reason for not wanting Psychic shield right now, was mainly because we already got a lot of willpower.
But Metapsionics is definitly next on the list.
>>
>>37402860
Mastercraft and Expert Mechanic are pretty good, especially if we're planning on upgrading the Warmech. Being able to make Masterwork weapons could be extremely profitable and would let us upgrade our guns and armor.

We have an alright amount of Willpower, but remember that the skillmod for a psionic discipline would be (Willpower + Adept/Master Bonus + Power Specialization), so we could get a +25 to our Psychic Shield check using only the currently available boosts with no further Willpower. And, more importantly, our enemies can do the same with their mind-fuck disciplines. Lirael only has Command 6 and she has a +18 to her Telepathy checks, for example.
>>
>>37403023
>Mastercraft and Expert Mechanic
Those are the ones I would suggest getting, once we have some down-time ahead of us.
Making our crews guns and tech would be useful.
>>
thanks for running Pally!
