The Wrights already know those secrets and taught them to us as part of a deal, though we could work more actively towards befriending and maybe assimilating them into the civ with enough effort. They'd be powerful allies against anything but a pack of holy dogma spewing priests.

We could try to bargin for the secrets of reanimating corpses from them this early on though and skip a research tier or two... not sure if sift would say okay.

Its happening is the resounding noise echoing in the den. The brood is hatching. 69 of your brood are normal spider bros. But 20 of them are roid spiders. This is new due to magic experimentation. The females all go to tending the brood and scare away the males. The apes are going insane as they can hear the brood hatching you drag in 10 monkeys as food as a precaution. The eggs hatch and many of them are hungry and dive for the food immedietly. The roid mongers hatch and they come out meticulous and careful. These monstrosities are almost like you except double the sized covered in ridged armor and in between the spikes magic crackles. They come forward as a unit and neel before the ambassador female and -insert name- they say we are here to serve loyally we are your soldiers your spear head and we are the hammer to crush the knife ears. Suddenly you understand what the niggling you have felt for the past few months was. It was these 20 learning

Sorta. You can but because you are forcing the spirit back its like pulling teeth they speak in riddles and such so its often more productive to capture living if possible.
>>
>>37318748
Wow you guys are crazy breed again? the younglings aren't even grown yet! We got 89 mouthes to feed. well minus 20 since those things are pretty much adults and badass

I'd say start assigning research, we should look into increasing our base tech level, herbalism, stone working, architechture, maybe even figure out mining and diggy dig a hole until we find some metals. I'd say spider burrows but monsoon season floods the ground round here.
>>
Rolled 80 (1d100)

>>37318822
True about the holes but maybe we could find a way around that later. For now id say research herbalism as it leads to medicine and more poison which will help us kill the knife ears.
>>
>>37318822
We can force the young ones to hunt for themselves. They're an army, they shouldn't have any problems hunting.
>>
Also, I want the queen to be named Sift.
>>
Alright I am gonna do a broad form double research. Since I am not gonna torture you with a second brood just yet. Thats just not fair.

Your original counsel come together to try and figure out what it knows from before and you sit there and think and think and think. Your queen as you have named her steps forward and points at one of the females and shouts a command and on reaction she throws herself into casting towards the door and a gout of fire shoots forth. The knowledge floods back and she realizes she knows fire magic. In your midst was a mage the whole time a pyromancer.

You go back to thinking to discover what you know and one steps forward and stacks some small blocks of wood and begins to describe a forge. It genuinely seems that you now have a chance at something of a semblance of war tech but you need ore to smelt and make into new things. However you are a step closer

On this list is
Sex Toys
Wood carvings
Metallurgy (alloys)
Bows and arrows
Armor smithing
Scrimshaw carving
Bone amulets
Suicide pills
Acute grog
Siege weapons

You sit there and decide to build and waterproof the house the work goes slow as the broodlings are under foot constantly but with the new help it does goes smoothly and as such you begin to get better and better and it finally just has water bead off and fall. Finally you research better sex toy.

Holy shit when I said random I didn't expect THAT random! Hah

This gives us some useful things though. trade goods, new weapon choices (spider ambush archers sound epic) bone amulet charms for necromancy focus(?), siege weapons, and some armor smithing. that sounds like fun times if we get industry setup.

Should we start attempting to jumpstart a metal industry?

Its time, you get to work inside your nest and send out your queen with an honor guard to do trade with the wight. Your mages transmute several pounds of steel and help you erect a temperary forge to begin work on your newest research. You melt down the steel that they have transmuted and go to work without hesitation. You pump out several weapon designs. Finally you pump out a sword that is agreeable to the assembled council so far. You have created a khopesh of beauty and strength. You carve into glyphs and wish the females present to breath power into them. They feed it magic and you now have a gift for your queen a proper symbol of the monarchy. You also produce 10 more of these weapons.

Your queen meantime comes forward to the wight and presents to him what you have learned and offered up trade goods. He considers it and says to you "You have been good to me, I will trade you at a 4:1 ratio of bone for mithral ore. You can meet this and I will fairly trade it no complaints. The bone needs to be carved into amulets and inscribed with runes. Actually thats a lot of work I will trade at a 1:1. For every pound you give me I will give you a pound of mithril. It is fair and I have mines that I will allow access in return for a favor later."

We need to figure out Wrightlords name sometime. He's rather agreeable for a undead!

>Inb4 its Phoenix or something.

So either 4:1 for raw bones or 1:1 for taking the extra time to inscribe and carve them ourselves. Gives a metal supply and we can proberly be ready to fuck up some elves once the broods grown up.

I can be pretty okay with this how about you bunch?

I say with the bigger population and the ability to make weaponry we outfit an army for now lets try to capture an elf hunter/fisher while we arm ourselves? get inside info?

yes but thats the bueaty of the zerg if we found a small hunting party or a lone elf it wouldnt matter that they were unorganized amirite?

I am currently cooking so your time frame to make a decision is extended farther I encourage discussion because the favor may be harmless or may pertain to the knife ears or pertain to greater gain
>>
>>37320956
I'm half tempted to try and diplomance the elves( Ha HA oh god we wont win that without a 80+) and if it goes bad just fucking their shit up.

Then again they might attack outright. We don't konw if they're nature (hippy) elves or high elves or what. if its high elves we probably don't have a chance without massive bribery.

>>37321014
I'm kind of against commiting the kid horde just yet. We don't know how well equipped the knife ears are yet. that swarm tactics could get over half the brood killed if we're unlucky.

>>
>>37321070
I see them as future workers/fodder if needed. We got 20 elite grade shocktroopers thanks to the experiment into infusing necromancy into the eggs and them fuckers are HUGE. Plus loyal to the Queen as her honor guard at the moment.

Imagine what having a 100 of them huge ass fucks decked in mithril could unleash.

>>37321090
Traps work great on the defensive but we'll have to learn how to best play our offensive strength eventually.

true enough, but till we gain a little strength I am loath to waste the babies.

>>
>>37321200
One of the higher grades but typically its known for being on par with steel and having lower weight. Far as I know the highest tier stuff is more adamantine or orchiclarium. first for being stupidly good metal that stops near anything and the second because its...somewhat useful for spells? I'm not too well versed.

either way mithril is more a low weight steel/iron that might (MIGHT) have a capacity for channeling magic depending on the lore. LOTR gave it the reputation for being some kind of super metal.
>>
>>37321314
less on par with steel more aluminum but denser
>>
>>37321259
>>37321314
Danke. I was thnking of adamant then.
>>
>>37321348
So that'd make steel better? like I said I'm not a dwarf so I don't know too much about the metals entirely just from my past experiences with other lores and fantasy games. mithril tended to be up there but not god tier.

Could make a good supply of metal anyway since we have to use hoodoo alchemy powers to get steel as it is. at least until we can find more permanent sources of ore ourselves.
>>
>>37321410
Mithril is better when mixed with steel shit gets dope.

Your queen looks at him and accepts the offer. She twitches her back legs a bit and your already impressive alphas swell up in size and look a bit more intimidating. It has the effect you want and the wight notices this. He doesn't fold but he does lean back a bit. Loth looks at him and smiles amiccably. "What would you say to prisoners of elves?"
The wight cackles and says "I do not need them alive. I just need the corpses. For every elf corpse you bring me I will give you 50 pounds of the ore of your choice. Steel or otherwise. If you give me the elf settlement I will later return the favor and help you open a mine in the monsoon area. It will be for the better really. I know of several unfriendly elements in the area, as a sign of good faith here is a map of them.

The map details 6 elven settlements far to the north, 2 dwarven settlements in the west. 3 orc settlements that have migration patterns but could be anywhere now and a settlement of celestials far to the south. "these are just the unfriendly ones there are others that I have not kept track of. I hope that you agree to this. At this he walks off into the woods back to whatever it is he lives in.

Welp I'm out for the ngiht. need sleep.

Seems like the Wright Lord enjoys having an attack dog of sorts. Thankfully for him its a good arrangement.

I'd say work up on prepping for some war on elves. If sift is following the civ bonuses/negatives for diplomacy we basically have no chance at convincing the elves to be nice. It'll be all "blarhg back evil creatures of the darkness! Oh noes the spidermen of fostokoghaogha have come!" and other inane drivel.

Make allies with the darker races, don't be afraid to just flat out take it from the goody two shoes ones. Just for the love of god if you meet demons DONT make a deal with them without going over the terms with afine tooothed comb or something. Or get lawyers, research lawyers and make lots of lawyers.

God I need fucking sleep. have fun guys.

You gather up the bones and locate them and catalogue. You begin work on the amount and carving them out and making the amulets for the weight. After a weeks work you have 30 pounds of amulets ready for trade. this is good for you and your men but you have plenty of raw bones still to be carved so you decide to finish your work before going on to the trade.

You send out a group with the amulets and you contact the wight bringing him forth you tell him the weight and he double checks it. The trade goes through and in 2 days time he comes back and as promised hands over 30 pounds of refined mithril to you. He expresses his pleasure at you maintaning your side of the bargain and your men express delight this gives you time to work the metals now.

>>37323310
OP we got iron/steel yes? Can we combo that with Mithrill?
>>
>>37323368
You have transmuted steel yes. You could do the combination but it will more than likely eat all of your opening batch of mithril.

I guess call it a night then? Or are there plenty who want to keep going?
