General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible. There are occasional roles to keep things organic, but mostly it goes by voters choice. Unless specified otherwise, the best of 3 rolls is the result, and rolling high is good.

Write-ins for all votes or always welcome and encouraged. Put your own spin on it, suggest dialogue, add an addendum, or anything else. Just because some options specify to write in, doesn't mean that they aren't welcome for anything else. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat currently it works just like dialogue and other options. Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, be creative!

You float under the water, reflecting on the battle with that legendary Pokemon. You and your friends had almost all of your Pokemon knocked out, you feel the harsh sting of a thousand cuts and bruises from all the debris. Your body’s requests for air become harsh demands, and you take out Destiny to help you surface.

Your friends are already at the surface of the water. Robin rushes over to help get you onto land. She hugs you tightly.

“Are you alright? What happened?”

You tell them how Regirock fled as you all head back up.

Clair flips through Jeanine’s Pokedex. “That makes sense. It says here that when it’s damaged, it will seek out new suitable rocks to repair itself.”

“I don’t remember telling you it was okay to go through my stuff,” Jeanine says as she bandages Vance. He took a few nasty hits.

Robin lifts the back of your torn shirt. “Oh. We should have brought disinfectants.” She applies some water to some of your cuts. “Why do you always do reckless things like that!” There’s an edge to her voice.

You glance over at the intricate door. It looks like it’s still making everyone crabby.

Then again, those Team Imperium members might be in trouble or be up to something.

You figure the danger has mostly passed with Regirock defeated. Plus you’d hate to leave now after all that work.

“Let’s check out the rest of the area,” you say as you force yourself to your feet.

Clair is applying a potion to her Alakazam. “What about those Team Imperium people?”

“What are they going to do?” Vance grimaces as Jeanine tries cleaning one of his cuts. “They don’t have any food or water. They’re stuck without us.”

You turn your attention to the door. That’s odd. There are three keyholes, each with their own symbol. You give it a little tap, listen quietly, and study it for awhile.

Only one of these keyholes opens the door. The other two are false. You’re not sure what they do.

“They’re symbols about human relationships to Pokemon. This one is Dominance. This one is Harmony, and this one Unity.”

Without a key, this is extra tricky. Maybe there's another way.

You look over your friends. Clair’s already hard to handle without the aggravating whatever that’s making everyone angry, and Vance looks pretty roughed up.

“Clair, Vance, why don’t you two look after our friends? Who knows what they might get up to.”

“Fine! Miss bossy! Maybe somebody there can actually give me some stimulating conversation!” Yeesh. Touchy.

Vance gets up and goes with her. “Are you going to help us with Levi or what?”

Right! You toss out Levi. She roars in triumph. It echoes all around the cave.

As they head off, you tap the door again. You’ve got this. In fact, you’re going to really show off. You take out a few of the matches from that matchbook you have.

Robin leans in. “Won’t they snap?”

You expertly push the tumblers into position in a few swift decisive motions. The door lifts open and you retrieve the match, striking it on it’s way out. In the absence of a cigarette to light, the toss the match behind you in time for Levi to return. It lands squarely on her nose as she slides in next to you, flame-side up. She stares cross-eyed at it until you retrieve her into her ball.

“That was the coolest thing I've ever seen and I hate you for it,” Jeanine mutters and follows in behind as you swagger through the door.

There are 4 different waist-high platforms and stand in the center. Each one has a different symbol.

A few small crystals sit on the stand. It looks like there was one large one in the center, bit it’s been ripped off.

“I think I know what this is. Or, what it was. Time flowers are made out of a crystal-like material that can be imprinted with events when people or Pokemon are nearby. This was probably an Aura Stone.”

A what? Does this bitch ever shut up? You could probably figure all this out faster if she’s shut up and let you think. You shake your head and get it together.

“It’s like a Time Flower, but instead of an event, it reflects the aura and personalities of anyone that touches it. Watch.” She touches all the little crystals. The more of them she touches, the more calm and confident you feel. “The last person who touched these was a very angry, crazy person. They took the biggest ones too. These are just leftovers. I can clean them up.” Jeanine thinks. “They shouldn’t be this powerful though. I don’t think they’d work half as well outside this temple. The effect should be barely noticeable.” Jeanine starts collecting them and putting them in her bag.

You start tapping them as Jeanine tosses them in her bag. You feel more like yourself than ever.

“Kat! Stop that!” Jeanine says as she holds her head. She let’s her hand stop covering her face for a second and gives you a confused look. She gets up and wanders the room, looking at the platforms and carvings.

“What are you doing?” You ask.

“I don’t know. I just feel restless. Like if I stop doing something I’ll fall into a self-loathing funk. I can feel it coming on.”

Robin hugs you from behind and nibbles your ear. “I think can think of something we can do to avoid that.” Her hands slide up your body. “Oh, are you going to blush in front of Jeanine?” She switches ears. “Good. I like making you do that.”

Jeanine bites her finger. “Now there’s a good distraction.”

Oh come on! That’s not...Hnnnng… you! You quickly break free of Robin’s soft pleasant hands and rush over to the crystals and have her touch them.

“But I wanted to touch you~!” She pouts before she taps them all.

A gentle but nervous feeling comes over you as Robin gets a handle on herself. She turns red like a stove top element. You hug her and hold her hand. You just want to help.

Jeanine joins the hug too. “How are you two doing? I haven’t really been asking. Are you feeling okay? Do you need water?” Jeanine’s such a nice friend. You know you can always trust her.

Robin has a powerful need to feel useful.

You all sit around holding hands and making sure everyone is doing fine, everyone insisted that they're totally alright and glossing over any personal things that might actually need addressing. You'd never want to burden somebody else with your problems. You want to be helpful even if you're scared. Trunks joins in the little friendship circle too.

Eventually, you agree to have Jeanine touch them all and put them away. Calm confidence seems like the best approach for now.

"Let's pretend my part didn't happen," you say as you direct everyone to the platforms. "Are these things always going to be like that?"

Jeanien shakes her head and looks at the braid Trunks made with her hair "No. I think something in the temple makes them stronger. They'll be very weak when we leave."

You investigate The 4 waist-high platforms. Each one seems to be a test. One of them is what you guess to be a complicated math puzzle. The other Jeanine tells you has something to do with Aura. Another is a strength test, and the last is a little puzzle that requires a lot of manual dexterity.

"That's right! I remember reading that the ancient people around here were made up of all sorts of different villages and tribes. They'd protect their treasures by making sure someone from each place had to be there to unlock it."

Treasure?

Well, it doesn't take a genius to figure this out. "Robin, you take the puzzle, Jeanine, you're on the aura thingy, I'll take this one."

"Wait," Jeanine says. "I think we have to time this so we do it in sync."

Well that makes it trickier. No wonder those Team Imperium people messed it up.

"What are we going to do about the strength one." Robin investigates hers.

You look it over. There's a small hole you can put your hand it to pull the lever. Levi wouldn't be able to get a grip.

You quickly go fetch Vance. There's no way you're missing out on this treasure.

When you arrive to the temple entrance, you see Vance and Claire playing cards with the Team Imperium people. He explains that they were actually going to come back to help you. He seems to have warmed up to them a lot.

"Oh hey, you guys done yet?"

You fill them in. Vance pushes himself up. "I'll do my best, but I really hurt my ribs in that fight."

"You should be careful. We tried to do that puzzle and when we failed, it dropped us into that room." Quinn cautions. "Besides, Hornbeam only had us do it because it was there. He didn't even care about it. It might not be anything valuable." He feeds his Tropious some more water as she basks in the sunlight.

Clair pats him on the back. "Are you chumps trying to get out of the game that badly? Come on, play your hand, I'm not done winning yet." She looks back to you. "I can come get you out again if you take too long."

Sounds like a plan! The four of you rush back, eager to get this show on the road already. Each of you takes a position at the platforms.

Before you start, you notice Trunks looking up at you, like he's wondering what he should do.

"Trunks, why don't you wait at the lever." He looks at you, confused. "I'd feel really safe knowing you where there to help us out if we mess this up." Trunks perks right up and scrambles off. That seemed to make his day.

"Alright everybody. Try to time this so we finish at the same time."

"That's what she said!" Jeanine blurts out. She's obviously not to worried about screwing up.

"Ready? Go!" You quickly get to work on your puzzle. It's a complicated series of things you have to click into place without touching the wrong areas. Then you guide a small ball on a thin platform without it falling off.

"Ahhh!" Vance yells as he pulls. He's having trouble! "I...can't..."

You expect the floor to give way. Instead, a blade comes swooshing out of nowhere. Vance jerks hard and pulls his lever, and the blade takes off one of his hair spikes. You and everyone else try to finish your puzzle in sync just as you see more blades starting to appear.

Kchunk. The blades go back into the walls. Vance collapses against the floor, holding his hurt muscle. Everyone runs over to check him out.

"I'm fine. I mean, I'll be fine." He struggles to get to his feet. Jeanine assists. "Ow."

Another hidden door opens up. This time instead of a dark room you need to use torches on, it glows with a feint blue light. Small crystals line the walls. In the center of the room is a strange wind instrument. As you approach, suddenly a tune plays.

It's a beautiful, mesmorizing song. You listen and don't move a muscle in case you interupt it somehow.

You're deeply saddened when it ends. But it begins again right after.

On another stand are what look like scrolls.

You approach slowly and carefully. Wary of any traps. Inch by inch you get closer. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the platform.

You reach out and quickly grab the flute, then immediately get ready to jump or dodge.

Nothing happens.

You see Jeanine approach the scrolls in the same way. Careful. Careful. Snatch!

Again, nothing happens.

"I guess that's it," you announce to your waiting friends. Robin looks like she was on the brink of a heart attack watching you.

You look over the scrolls. It doesn't really make any sense to you.

"Oh! These ones are about the ancient Aura Guardians!" Jeanine pours over them. "I know like, 10% of these symbols, but I bet I can figure something out!" She usually doesn't get so bright eyed.

Robin looks at the one scroll that doesn't look like the others. "These are music notes."

You smile sheepishly. "Ah yeah. I don't really read notes. I just sort of play by ear."

You and your friends start on your way back to the entrance. You pick up Trunks who's very eager to see you again. "Calm down! It was only a few minutes!" He nuzzles your leg and walks beside you.

The four of your arrive near the exit, except this time there's a new door.

It has a picture of the flute you have carved into it.

"I think you're supposed to play the tune from before," Vance says as he leans on Jeanine's shoulders.

Jeanine looks at one of the signs. "And I really think you don't want to mess it up."

That's a lot of pressure. You just heard it a few times back there.

Robin steps forward. "We can record the song from the other room in my Pokedex, and then play it back here."

You put your hand on Robin's shoulder and smile. "It's fine, I can do this."

She smiles back. "Okay. You were great with that lock. I trust you." It warms your heart to hear her say that with that bright smile. You don't know what you'd do without her.

You take out your new flute. "Alright, I can handle this." You crack your take, stand tall to make sure your diaphragm has room to expand, and bring it to your mouth.

You play the song. So far so good. You can do this!

A note goes way off pitch and you lose focus. It's grating to the ears, but made even much worse knowing something terrible is going to happen.

Everyone braces, ready for action.

"Huh, I guess there isn't a trap this-" Thunk! An arrow flies from a hidden slot in the wall and strikes Robin. You see her head jerk back as she goes down.

Your world shatters. You don't even hear Vance and Jeanine screaming as they run over to her.

Truly, this must be witchcraft, Anon. I don't like going in to play the song without practicing beforehand anymore than you do.

The PokeDex idea probably wouldn't have worked, they wouldn't have had a special flute in that chamber if any given instrument could do it. In the best case, no response. In the worst case, auto-fail.

No.

You rush over, pushing Vance and Jeanine aside. You hold her and feel her blood pour onto your hands.

Robin screams. It's the most painful and amazing thing you could think of. Your brain scrambles to make sense of what's happening.

The arrow struck her through the right eye.

Vance rips his shirt. "She's alive, but we need to stop the bleeding. Hold her steady."

"Robin, can you hear me?"

Robin cries. "What happened? It hurts!"

You can't even think right now. You do your best to hold her as Vance and Jeanine get to work. Robin keeps reaching for the arrow and Jeanine keeps trying to push her hands away.

"Hold her hands. She's not thinking straight. She can't just pull it out!"

You try to concentrate enough to hold her arms down. She fights against you.

"I need my bag," Vance and Jeanine say at the same time.

This is Pokémon where people have been consistently at risk of crippling injury or death, Pokémon have died (offscreen, granted), and psych issues are a big thing.

It's frankly a goddmaned miracle something seriously horrible hasn't already happened.

And everyone who's implying this clusterfuck is somehow Gobble's fault is goddamn deluded. This is entirely on the player's backs.

If she got hit in the shoulder or something yeah that'd be good. Kat would be in panic mode and blame herself, Robin would be our damsel in distress, and no one would be dead or permanently injured.

>>37317260
It's one of the rare times where I'd actually say yes, it should be retconned. It was THAT far out of right field, and it seems SO excessive for one botched roll that wasn't even that badly botched.

>>37317273

You hold Robin.

"Please don't leave me, please don't leave me!" You're crying and begging and there's nothing you can do to make any of this better. Vance dashes off with Robin's Pokedex.

Her hand touches your face. "Kat? Kat, I love you."

You can't even speak. You blurt out some words that don't make sense.

Jeanine works around you. You're vaguely aware of her instructions to keep pressure as she hands you a rag. You press it tight against Robin. She can't die. Not like this.

Vance comes barreling down the hall again, the song playing.

As soon as the door opens, Clair and the others come running in. You were right at the exit.

"What happened!" Clair screams. The Team Imperium people are equally shocked.

Even Clair is frazzled. "What do we do? Gardevoir can Heal Pulse!"

Vance rummages in his bag "You know that doesn't really work well on people. Especially for situations like this."

"I think I have a plan!" Jeanine steps up. "If we can funnel the Heal Pulse through the crystals inside the temple, Maybe we can amplify it."

"You're both not thinking straight. We need to get the arrow out, control the bleeding, and disinfect." Vance takes out the booze. "You! Start a fire and boil that water," he directs a Team Imperium member. They get to work quickly.

Robin holds your hand that's trying to keep the bleeding in check. She doesn't seem to be all there.

Eh, derailed the quest hardcore though, for whatever is left of it (not a lot). Since there's no way Kat isn't running the fuck away now, and it'd be weird if anyone would want to chase after her.

But we're ~50 threads in and nothing even close to this bad has happened yet. The closest I can think of is us getting Toxic'd by a Corsola but we just had a trippy dream and woke up. This is so out of pace with the rest of the story it's crazy.

No, it's actually collective suffering for bad rolls, seeing as that we're leader of a party. If we failed at 40 or 50, we'd probably get shot, 30, Vance or Jeanine. if we failed at 10, both we and Robin get shot. we fail at 1, everyone gets shot. Or something like that.

Gobbles did give a chance for us to back out and save game ourselves, but we didn't take it. Hindsight a shit.

Going back in there is only going to get people even more fucked up. She's bleeding out. Even with a fire Pokemon, boiling the water will take a minute that she frankly doesn't have. It SOUNDS like the worst option, but a failed heal pulse will take less time than a fire, and you can do two things at once.

>Use Heal Pulse now! There's no time

If this doesn't work we still have plenty of time

I'm just trying to explain why I think people are upset, since I see reasons flying all around that don't seem to quite fit the tone of anyone's argument? Iunno, I can see why people would get upset and I'd rather it happen to us than to another character (since it was our action that failed, our bad rolls, etc), but all in all, as long as Robin doesn't die, I'll put up with it. We can at least get some neat character development out of this.

>Try the crystal Heal Pulse plan
>Vance is right too

We probably need to get the arrow out before we try a heal pulse thingamaboober. It'd be pretty awkward if the wound closed and the arrow would still be there. Or the eyeball regenerating around the arrow. Or any of the aforementioned but with an infection because we didn't disinfect the wound.

tl;dr: Try Vance's thing while Claire sets up the supercharged Heal Pulse.

"Time is a factor! We can't just debate this!"

"Exactly. So let's do what I said. Hurry!"

You finally take your eyes off Robin and look at everyone else. "We do Jeanine's plan first, Vance, we'll treat her your way after."

You must be giving them a hell of a face, because nobody questions it.

They set out a makeshift gurney. Jeanine takes one end. "Help me carry her." Clair steps up. It makes sense. Vance hurt himself, the Team Imperium people are frail, and you...you shouldn't be trusted with anything important.

You rush over to the large gap.

Clair grabs you by the shoulder. "Kat! Kat, focus. Can Levi make this jump gently?"

Are you sure you can read, anon? Have you tried taking deep breaths yet?

Anyone want to explain to anon why rolling a maximum of 27, on three dice, is less than a 27% chance?

Sterling example of Tg's not being able to deal with consequences of it's own stupidity and hubris.

>>
>>37318745
Pretty sure restoring the eye, which is likely impossible, isn't even good enough because Robin got injured in the first place. The only thing left to determine now is when Kat runs away. Immediately after it looks like Robin won't die, at night when she's brought to a hospital, or after Robin wakes up?
>>

>>
>>37318772
It doesn't count if the waifu's in danger. I give it maybe two more choices until we wake up from the poison dart we got to the neck. A tweest to end the session
>>
>>37318764
And yet it's the BEST of three that is taken, and the 4chan dice are flawed in that several rolls in a short period are not statistically independent.

Now shut the fuck up and wait for the next update like the rest of us.

>>
>>37318764
Except that's not how rolls on /tg/ work. It's not random, it's based on when your posts are. Which means when you have 3 posts simultaneously the other the rolls usually come out similar.
>>
>>37318764
But that foesnt matter, because the chances of the rolls happening dont fucking matterrrrr. The only thing that matters is the fucking top roll, unless we roll a crit fail. which happens to be a 27. Shut up about shit that doesnt matter and stop trying to rationalize the unrational
>>
>>37318772

You take out Levi. "You need to do this gently. Do you understand?"

"I can help smooth the landing," Clair says. "But not much."

Levi looks at you, then Robin. She has an unusally soft face. Everyone helps load Robin up, and you step back. "Levi, I'm trusting you on this. You can do it."

She nods, then leaps off. Clair and Alakazam focus intently. The Gyarados comes to a gentle halt at the other side and gently puts her down.

Clair stumbles and wipes away a nose bleed. "Guess I'm overdoing it lately."

This is all your fault.

You quickly get you and your friends across much quicker. Everyone works fast to get Robin into the room with the crystals.

"Set her down there. Careful," Jeanine directs. "Vance, the arrow."

What?

Jeanine "We have to take it out, otherwise it might heal around." Jeanine places the crystals around and focuses. "Clair, have the heal pulse go here."

Vance nods grimly. He still has the alcohol and other things, just in case.

"Gardevoir's still hurt from the fight," Clair says. "Alakazam and I will help her focus. Kat, Raistlin might be able to help too."

Vance has a needle. "I think this might help give a temporary boost."

Clair blinks. "What is that? Some sort of steroid?"

"I don't use them. I just have this because... This isn't the time," Vance says. "It can help you fight."

Jeanine stops focusing for a second. "We don't need unknown factors here. Put that away, get the arrow out. Hurry!"

>Wait, you'll pull the arrow

>Maybe you can help Jeanine focus

You don't know how serious an eye injury is once they've gone to hospital. They may be able to grow a new eye out of nothing. This could be JUST AS HARMLESS as if she got an arrow in the shoulder. Character development will still happen, this has just added a sense of urgency and drama.
