Previous threads: https://archive.moe/tg/search/subject/Kabbalah%20Hero%20Builder/Google docs I've made for each player that are a simple aggregation of their choices and updates. Makes it easier to read through and let's me remember where they got to: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2Qypb3FIXuMMFFaSGxYRWs1NkE&authuser=0We return to the world of Kabbalah: an odd, ever-changing, and moderately erotic place. It is a world of cyborgs and elves, of submachine guns and sorcery, of demons and gods. It's a world where nothing can be taken for granted, or taken too seriously. And like it or not, you're a part of this world. But you aren't about to sit back and get assraped by hellspawn, you're going to rise to the top and make a name for yourself! No longer accepting new character requests, we're got plenty on our plate to handle right now. Each turn after my second post, you may take 2 actions. For these, you roll 2d100. The higher the roll, the better the result of that action. This is based on an on-going quest by the same name, archives for them here:suptg: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Kabbalah%20Questmoe: https://archive.moe/tg/search/subject/Kabbalah%20Quest/
>>37233372You resolutely ignore the boy beside, training your attentions instead on the monster that writhes before you."My dear... Sir Sandal." you say sarcastically, "Why exactly were you attacking that poor old man just now?">32"Paaahhaaahaaaaa." comes the reedy reply, "Whyyy nooot? Heee'sss jusst ssso eassy to sstaaaand on!""Hey mister, can I touch your sword?! Pleasepleaseplease?!""That cannot be the real reason, I can see that you are a creature that possess more reason than that. No don't bunch those beady eyes at me, I know that you were doing it for some-""Yoouuu knoooww noothiinng!""When I grow up *I* want to be a swordsman too!""Look, my dear sandal, I just want to know why you did, what your troubles are... I don't see why we can't better understand each other. Indeed, depending on what you say I may just let you go.""Fiiiiine, I'll teeeell you whyyyy. Peeeopleee thiiink they caan treaad all oveeeerrrr meeee?! I'll show theeeem whaaat it'ssss liiike!""Well, I don't think your owner would have trodden on you if he knew how you felt about all this. Why don't you come back with me and we'll talk it out with him, hm?">52"Pah! Aaand yooou thiiink he'd eveeer seee iiit frooom my poooint of viiiew?!""Well, yeah, and if he doesn't I'll give him my own thoughts on the matt-""I'm gonna touch your sword!""Hey, no wait-" you say turning to fend off the boy messing with your blade, "You might hurt yourself, or us!""Haaah, I kneeew iiitt, yoouu caaree mooore foor thaat boooy thaan yooou dooo fooor meeee, thaat'sss why yooou saaaved theeeem, yooou're nooot here to beeetter my liiiife at aaaall!""Hunh? What? No! No, that's not the case at al- No STOP THAT you blasted child!""Hehehee!""Ufufufuuu... It seems you have your hands full, Eriasu-san..."You crane your head round to find Umeko stepping toward you, snapping her fans shut.>(Cont.)
>>37301867"The others are on their way, I can make a much speedier journey after all. It seems you found our mysterious missing sandal, a bakezoori no less...""Ah, yeah. Could you get that boy to stop messing with my sword by the way?""But he can barely lift it...""Which is what worries me, if he somehow DOES lift it he's very likely to drop it and I'm nearby!""Ufufuu... Okay then," she says, stepping round to apprehend him, "Knock it off dear or I'll dangle you from the air.""Dangle from the air?! That sounds like fuuUUAAAAHHHH"Your sword clatters to the floor beside you and you heave a sigh of relief."Now then, it'll only be few minutes for me to draw up the requisite talismans needed to banish and bind this bakezoori. Just sit tight for now, Eriasu-san.""Banish and bind..? Surely there's another wa-""Yooououu willll neeeveeer baaaaniiiish meeeee! I'll TREEAAAD OOON YOUUU AALLLL!""Another way? It seems not."You sigh, disappointed at this turn of events. Still, you have to admit, this sandal is particularly antagonistic to all and every... You just can't shake the fact he waited for you to be ready before resuming you fight though. You know that those black beads belie more complex thoughts and motives than the brusque surface demeanour would sug-"All done Eriasu." says Umeko, stepping round the gurgling child held aloft by her magic and kneeling to paste a strip of paper with a series ink shapes onto the 'face' of the sandal-man. He stiffens, going completely rigid and then she places a secondary one beside it. Dusky smoke spews from the body of the youkai, swirling around as it flows towards the secondary talisman which seems to suck it up and visibly eject it, purple flames consuming it as it goes, flickering hypnotical-"It is done." says Umeko, and you look down to find you're simply kneeling in a pile of straw with a pair of sandals left where the head once was.>(Cont.)
>>37301884You close your eyes a moment, a quick thought for the being that is no longer here before you push yourself up and wipe the worries from your mind. What's done is done and you've freed the people up here from a threat. You retrieve your broadsword, stashing it away on your back and turn to face the flailing miscreant."Come on Umeko, I think that's enough.""Ufufuu... Little boys should mind their manners more..." she says as she gently lowers him only to drop him the last few inches. You check in on the old man but find that he'll be alright. The family up here make a living gathering mountain plants for medicinal remedies, they're more than capable of healing him up."Will these sandals ever become like that again?" you ask Umeko as the pair of you descend the mountain."I do not think so, at least not within our lifetime. These sandals have been well looked after but you can tell from design that they are several generations old. When objects last for that long the thoughts and feelings of beings around them leave an impression that becomes unto its own. I have separated this from our world, those sandals are utterly mundane now.""I see." you say, not really sure how you feel about learning this.---You met back up with Kanada and Yuki halfway up the mountain, red in the face as they were hurrying up the steep slope. You filled them in with the tale of your fight as you all made your way back, Kanada getting a laugh from Umeko's recount of the boy that had been pestering you. The conversation moved on to what everyone had learnt about that missing wife but you still don't have much to go on beyond one person's account that they'd seen her running into the forest in the middle of the night.>(Cont.)
>>37301900You stop by the sandal-owner to hand them over and he thanks you graciously, stating that they'd belonged to his father, and his father's father and so on before handing you 23,000 yen for your troubles, listening eagerly as you told him what had happened to them.> +17,250 yen (like, $144.00!) (You gave Umeko her cut)It's dark now so you all return to the inn, ordering a meal that comprised of long thin pasta strands in a bowl of thin soul with chopped vegetables bobbing about.> -1200 yen (meals were 300 yen a head)"So all that's left is to find that wife tomorrow and we'll have cleaned this place of jobs!" says Kanada jubilantly, waving his chopsticks around for emphasis that causes Yuki to duck an errant 'noodle' as they're apparently called."Watch what you're doing, baka!" she cries, flicking him on the nose with her own chopstick."Ufufu... Still, as Kanada says we're nearly done here. We should make plans for where to go next.""Ahh, well it's just like I said! I should be able to find something a bit tougher but more rewarding from one of my siblings, just gotta track 'em down first.""And how hard will that be?" you ask."Depends on whether they want to be found, but even then I have a few tricks up my sleeve.""Sounds good then." you say, finishing your bowl, "Shall we all get an early night then? It'd let us be up nice and early to find that wife.""Up to you, boss-man, but I have a couple more bottles of sake if anyone here's interested. Umeko? How about you? You seem the sort to appreciate a good sake...""Ufufu..."
>>37246103>98You foe takes this opportunity to turn to the crowd, arms held aloft in display of his victory over you, the cheer ringing loud and long throughout the arena. This will not stand. You reach down and grasp the trident by the prongs to give you better grip, the shaft too slippery against your gauntleted fingers. The joints creak and groan as you muster your strength and pour it forth, the ground slowly giving way around it."Oh, now Romulus is looking desperate here and what do you know, our other contestant just doesn't even care that he still struggles! Perhaps he hopes for a better fight?"With a wrench that nearly dislocates your arms you pull it free, stumbling back but lashing a foot out to steady yourself. Ignoring the commentator you busy yourself at the edge of your prison, thrusting the trident into the earth and using the prongs to loosen it away from the sharpened weight that holds the net down. With the third one freed you drop to the floor and slide yourself out from underneath it, leaving the trident as you draw your gladius and rush towards your captor, who even now still strikes poses for the crowd. You make your final step towards him and begin to swing your blade at his nape->34-only for him to drop to a crouch at the last second and you watch in slow motion as he spins and thrust his palm out into your chest, your blade serving only to nick his shoulder before you're sent flying across the ring, sliding to a halt on the dirt to a deafening roar from the crowd which serves to drown out Domenette's presumably snarky thoughts on this turn of events.Still. You're free, the net's not and he's yet to pick his trident back up. Certainly a turn for the better.
>>37270632>43Your voice quavers a little despite your efforts and you hear the conversation around you halt, a drop of pure silence to let you know that you have irrevocably disturbed the waters. You hear footsteps coming your way and one of the voices sounds out again in a wheedling tone."Welllll lookey here then, seems our 'esteemed guest' is awake..."You can hear him leering in your face and then your head is tugged to the side and the blindfold comes loose, the light piercing your retinas causing you to squint."And 'e know's why we're all 'ere too, now ain't he astute. Tell me then, why ARE you here?""Well obviously you've kidnapped me, though whether you wan-""Right you are, sonny jim." he says, cutting you off before you can voice your thoughts as to whether they were trying to recruit you as a superhero. "And as you may well surmise the reason for tha' is because we want your parents' money. Count yerself lucky lad, you're a privileged person to be here right now."This last comment sends a wave of eagerness through you at being told you were privileged before you realised that he probably wasn't being too serious about it. Rather, you WERE from a privileged background and are NOW being held ransom. The man gets back up and paces around in front of you, pretending to follow his movement you scan your peripheral vision and surmise that there are three people in here - or at least three in front of you. Their attention seems to be satisfactorily on other things so you start wiggling your hands and feet about surreptitiously to feel for restraints. Your legs are free it seems but your hands are bound together, though not to chair as far as you can tell.>(Cont.)
>>37301953"-have to ask, why exactly ARE you wrapped up in bandages anyway kid? You that much of a mummy's boy? AAAAHAaHaHaaa!" he bursts out, laughing at his own joke. His cronies follow suit. "Aaaaahhh, no, but seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you? You got some kinda skin condition under there?""Hunh? No! I uh, well, it makes me look cool and mysterious, yunno? Like, people see me, they thinking 'ooh, who's that guy, and why's he all bandaged up?'"There's a stunned silence as they all look at your again before falling about laughing. The nearest one has tears trickling down his cheeks.>76Well, that does it, you're done sitting around here. The bonds on your wrists are loose now and with juussst a twist of-There we go! Hands nice and free, yup, legs free too, quick wiggle to check the rest of me is... And they don't seem to have noticed anything yet either, bunch of bastards still busy laughing...
>>37276238Well with that taken care of you suppose you best track down another source of magical power to head to towards. A moment of concentration later and you've pinpointed your next target.>84You're not prepared to hang around, not now, not whilst that fight still lingers in your veins. You deign to unfurl your wings, blessing this marred earth with your radiance, a myriad of colours shattering and dancing across the surface as your crystalline wings scatter the light about you. You stretch your wings wide, strainging on each muscle and ligament in turn to fully feel them again, the tensions sending shivers of pleasure through your body, you close your eyes and envisage each and every twitch as a dancing note in your mind...Yes, your wings are ready to bear your majesty.>98You inhale the cool clear air that is being drawn down through the hole wideing in the smog and hold it in your lungs, bathing them in the sweet nectar. You raise your wings high, crouch your legs and jump with your full being, streaking through the air and coming to a slow a good twenty metres up only to beat your wings down, catching and thrusting the air earthwards with them, propelling you up and up through the billowing clouds around you...>(Cont.)
>>37301988And then you break through, cresting the seas of smoke and gleaming in the dazzling sunlight, ripples of divine pleasure cascading through you, leaving you trembling and quaking, tears of euphoria streaming across your face as you dip into a glide and soar onwards to your destination. You blink, clearing your eyes of the moisture and gazing around with renewed clarity, you hadn't realised quite how much the ash below had cluttered your lenses until this moment.Turning your attentions to that overwhelming source of magical power you rise on the thermals provided by the burning land below and make your way onwards.---You're circling over a walled city, filled with ruined buildings and crumbling rubble. The one largely intact structure is a great tower, jutting forth from the land like , well like a thing that juts really proudly. Your keen vision traces across the ground and you spot a sign at the base, "Tower of Deathrape" scrawled in what appears to be dried blood. How crass. And somewhat out of place, this whole area looks like a pit of despair only it is dazzled by pure sunlight that strikes forth from clear blue skies. The incongruity is perplexing.Still, as you revolve around the tower you ascertain that it is indeed inside that the magical power resides. At this range you also note that it is a cluster of several magical powers rather than the singular one you had anticipated. Which only means that the individuals are weaker than you believed.>(Cont.)
>>37302019You alight at the entrance at the tower's base and set foot inside, bemused as what seem to be creatures made from food skitter around. You pay them no mind as you ascend the tower, eventually coming out at the top. You step forth into a chamber with no ceiling, the skies above, sun shining twixt the proud pillars ringing the place. Before you are six figures. At the base of the dais stands one of the food-people, next to her a gir- no, wait, a boy dressed in pink. Behind them is a brute of a man lying on a chaise longue, muscles rippling as he accepts the fruit a girl tucked up beside him offers. At the top of the dais in a golden throne more ornate than anything you've ever witnessed sits a young girl in scruffy attire, curiously her presence dominates the space despite this. Perched on a cushion beside her is a woman with pointed ears and closed eyes, she's makes no indication that she's recognised your entrance. The man let's out what is a mixture of a hum and a sigh, locking his gaze on you with dreamy eyes. You cannot help but feel enrapt at the perfect shape of his body, oiled muscles practically twinkling in the light. The enthroned one claps her hands lightly together to regain your attention."Welcome to New Heaven." she says, "I am Punch Rockgroin."
>>37281074"Well... I think that a trip to Ireland would be too dangerous right now, I have no idea how likely this... thing inside me is to act up when I least expect it. That and going to the place we obtained the ritual involved with its arrival... That said, what's the best way to get there?">90"Hmm, well you would need to catch a ferry to cross over. The nearest port is Plymouth but the ferry would have to sail round Cornwall, it's probably faster to head to south-west Wales and take it from a small place by the name of Fishguard across the narrowest point this side of Scotland. Of course, it might well depend on whereabouts in Ireland you'd be heading...""Right, thanks. That said, I think it would be best for me to speak with a practitioner of eldritch magic. I... I don't suppose you know anyone who could help me in that capacity?">92He stays quiet for a moment before replying in a careful tone."As a matter of fact I do. He... He's currently on parole. Tried and convicted for practising an eldritch summoning ritual. I know him well, it was out of curiosity for the unknown that he did it, nothing more, nothing less.">(Cont.)
>>37302049The meaningful way he looks at you conveys what he doesn't say - that your own situation would land you in much the same place as his old friend were the authorities to learn of it."I am reluctant to involve him in anything that could violate his parole and quite honestly it's his own enthusiasm that's most likely to end up the cause rather than anything you would beyond simply being there... However, your situation is worrisome enough that I cannot bear to starve you of the help you require, especially if the repercussions have bearing beyond yourself." He sighs, full of melancholy. "Here are his contact details. Wales, you'll note, so on your way to Ireland already..."You accept the slip of paper with thanks, tucking it into your pocket."And now I wish to ask you when you intend to leave. How is your magic on that note? You might wish to stay here a few days, I'll see if we can arrange a few private lessons for you if you wish them."Hmm. A place to sleep, presumably food too and lessons? That's an offer you'd struggle to turn down if you weren't anxious about... the thing inside you.

The worst thing that happened last time was mistaking a room for another one, hardly a terrible event!2. This should be a great opportunity to talk more with Umeko in a more casual setting, as well! Vitamin supplements.""Well that won't do, c'mon, let's get you something hot to eat..."You drag them after you and quickly find a vendor.Mmm, hotdogs.Buying four (you're pretty hungry) you step back against a shop window to avoid the bustle of the street and dig in, realising quite just how famished you are after the day's events. The slick warm oil from the onions trickles down the back of your throat and you moan in content, gnashing your jaws as you wolf it down.> -$8 ($2 per hotdog)Having finished you look up to see how the dryads are enjoying what is apparently their first real meal.>17Lilo is making a funny face, she either likes it so much or-Oh, and Apane is flailing about as she looks around for somethin-Oh, seems she's found it and-Yup, she's vomiting down the drain. And Lilo's gone and joined her. Well, today you learned that Dryads don't enjoy eating hotdogs.---"What are we doing back here again?" asks Lilo as you all head back to the cultist base."Rifling through the documents they left behind, hopefully we can pick her trail from it. Important documents, some kinda identification, her name, anything really...""But we already know her name, it's Jillian Mercer. And how is knowing her name going to help you track her anyway? You just planning to walk around the city asking if people saw her?""I, uh, well..." you reply. It's true, you hadn't really thought this through..."Look, if you're just going to waste our time then Apane and I will just head to their next base by ourselves. Houston's the closest of the two and not knowing which facilities were at what you've got no better plan to work from. 'Sides, good chance that the receptionist fled to their closest base of operations. All that remains is finding a way to get there. Taxi would be nice and discreet but likely to be pretty darn expensive. A bus would be a lot cheaper but you'd have two mysterious robed figures to somehow keep from nosey passengers. You suppose you could try jack a car, free barring fuel and no issues with privacy but certainly a bit riskier...Should probably leave another message for your old team too, lest they try to find you around Dallas.

Perhaps..."That's right, Fat-ass! Over here!" you shout at the demon as you brandish your axe and knife. The demon chuckles as it turns around, tail swaying dangerously towards your men. Most of them duck, some are knocked over. You charge towards your opponent, and jump at him yet again.>57He brings up a hand to catch you, which he does."GYORKGYORKGYORKGYORKGYORKGYORKGYORK! Once you climb up the tree, you silently crawl along the branch until you've come up over the camp perimeter. You hear whispering underneath you, as well as growling behind you, distant. I dunno about your room but ours has a table and a couple chairs...""Same for us, we'll just grab the seats and move them over.""Then what are we sitting around here for then, eh?!"---"-and then, well, I said him I did, I said 'Gama, my old pal, you're too old for school, what're you still doing there?' and he just says 'Kanada, your discipline is lacking! I know that taking him head on in a brawl will definitely spell trouble for me so when he throws his punch I jump right? High enough to clear that punch and without even meaning to I ended up landing on his outstretched fist! Now, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth so I take that opportunity to get a front kick in, BAM, right in the chops!""Aaah, kakkoii!""So then I follow through with a backwards flip and land before him, and I say 'I see now that perhaps you DO still need to learn. Umeko's comment snaps you out of your reverie and you spin your head round to face her.>93"Oh, you had a mentor? What were they like?" you ask, sensing an opportunity to learn more about her. Normally she's tighter than a clam."Hm... What's it now, must be... getting on for five years since I last saw her. As for what she was like, well she was always energetic, always looking forward to tomorrow when all that it would bring was the same old shrine duties she'd performed daily until then... She was the sort of person who could brighten a room just by being there.""Wow, she sounds like a great person! The man who taught me sword-fighting was as grouchy as the come, we trained in the rain because the sun pissed him off.""Ahahahah, sounds like you had it tough Eriasu!""Well, it wasn't too bad really. Anyway, how come you haven't seen them in five years Umeko?"She falters slightly as she replies."I- I haven't been back to the shrine since then... I er, I've been too busy adventuring." she says before brightening visibly, "But what about you two-" she says gesturing at Yuki and Kanada, "What were your teachers like?""Aaaaah, well I'm from a ninja clan y'know? I was taught by me old man and let me tell you he drove us hard! As the rest of you finish up, a bit unsteady on your feet and sleepy to boot you look across to the inviting beds..."Let's all just crash here tonight, eh?" murmurs Kanada, "Eriasu and me will take the other futon, you can share with Yuki.""Ufufu... sounds good to me."And with that you snuff the candle and join the pile, settling in as you swiftly drift off...---You're half asleep, the scatters of a dream amusing you idly as you watch it unfold. You realise that you're aware of a weight on your arm, contact on your back and front. Then you realise that your forearm and hand are feeling kinda numb and groan internally at the prospect of the pins and needles that will arise. The niggling thought drags you back to consciousness and you experimentally try wiggling your fingers to ascertain quite how uncomfortable they're going to be...In response to this you feel movement in front of you and it dawns on you that someone's managed to roll onto your arm during the course of the night. And now they're nuzzling into your chest...

We here are all blessed by our Lord and Saviour Baby Jesus. I have not heard of a god name Dethan, which domain is his?""He is the god of beauty and music, the ruler of the entire concept of passions!" you say, spreading your arms wide to emphasize. The man quirks at this, sitting upright and pulling the girl beside him onto his lap, softly stroking her neck as he regards you with an intent look."The ruler of passions you say..." he rumbles in a sultry tone, "Then perhaps we are more familiar with him than we realise. My name is Slab Bulkhead, the former demon king of New Hell." He chuckles, rich with mirth. You forehead creases at this, you are amongst MORE demon kind?! The foul blight this man must have been responsible for...Your thoughts start to shift into intricate articulations as you begin to weigh up the beings before you, calculating..."Tell me about this place." you demand to keep them talking, give you time to follow your thoughts to their preordained conclusion. Your tainted tapering points begin to be moved by a wind that does not exist."It is as Slab said." chimes in the girl beside him, "This place was once New Hell. The epicentre of the recent demonic insurgence to this world." As you process the words she utters your eye start darting back and forth across them all. They sit there, in this radiant light, idle, unmoving, a mask of beauty that starts to crumble before your gaze, the air eerily silent, deathly silent. For would there not be music if this place truly was a drop of perfection?>(Cont.)
>>37346689"We had fallen into the depravity one would imagine from such a place and we revelled in it, until our current Queen arrived and fought her way to the top. She blessed every vanquished foe and this marked the birth of what you see before you now - New Heaven."Your eyes once more rest on the so-called Queen of New Heaven as she sits on that throne idly, robed in grubby cloth that is of ill fit. The facade before you cracks further and you hear a rattling sound from your right, turning to look but realising only that your taint is thrumming with vehemence at the tangle of lies around you, catching you, drawing you into their false paradise. Your flicking gaze catches that creature of food, the preposterous manner in which leafy vegetable comprises its hair...>1No. This cannot stand. This place is an affront to all you and your god hold dear, an abomination. At least the previous rule had the decency to name it what it is - HELL."So, Lorenth." comes the dirty girl's lofty voice, overbearing in its mock sincerity, "Tell us more of your god. He sounds like a noble entity, I should like to know more of his influe-""ENOUGH OF THIS FARCE!" you screech, spittle spraying in your rage, "I SEE NOW THAT FOR THIS WORLD TO BE BEAUTIFUL ONCE MORE I MUST ERADICATE THIS PLACE."You bask in the reactions, the two beings closest to you reel in shock, Slab cocks an eyebrow, the girl beside him covers her mouth with her hand, presumably to hide her gaping mouth at this turn of events, taken aback that someone would dare challenge them. The woman on the cushion, well, she lies unmoving - perhaps she is deaf then - and Punch, Punch looks bemused."Eradicate you say..." she begins, only for you to cut her off."IT IS AN BLIGHT UPON THIS LAND, SPILLING FORTH THE NOXIOUS SEEDS OF DECAY! IN THE NAME OF MY GOD-""Dethan." she says with a twitch of her lips."YES DETHAN. IN HIS NAME I SHALL. KILL. YOU. ALL.">(Cont.)
>>37346701You watch them take it in whilst you breathe heavily after shouting that loud, shoulders heaving, chest rising, falling, rising... You vision darkens around the edges as you focus all of your intent at those before you."So shall it be. As is customary you may choose your first combatant from those you see before you-""YOU THINK YOU CAN FIGHT ME ONE ON ONE?!" you bellow in your fury, clenching your fist tight enough to shatter your bones before releasing it, the endorphins flooding you as it rapidly regenerates."It is dishonourable for anything else." replies Punch evenly, bring a hand up to steeple her fingers across her temple."And besides," cuts in Slab with uncovered enthusiasm, now sitting up straight, "If we all fight then it'll be over too soon. We'll miss out on valuable entertainment."
>>37305150You think over it. A week or two would be incredibly useful to have to focus on improving your magical capabilities. It certainly wouldn't do to be waylaid on your journey by something just because you were too impatient. And besides, if the being within you starts to... get out of hand... you can simply pack up and leave earlier than you'd intended."Thank you very much for the offer, I should very much like to stay a little while. If it isn't too much trouble I'd like to decide precisely when I leave a little later but I'd say tentatively a week's time, maybe two if- if I'm not being too overbearing.""You're welcome, we have a fair number of spare rooms nowadays. The young blood these days are more captivated by the marvels of technology than the wonders of magic, though I don't blame them, not when the government pushes that augmented reality system so persistently with all it's bells and whistles."You idly wonder how old Mr Penrose is in comparison to Geoffrey, their opinions feeling like they belong to the same generation. Magic use does prolong one's time on Earth after all... Then again, you realise, you too share the opinion. Old before your time, as your mother used to say."Thank you. As for my magic, well..."You proceed to give him a rundown on the spells you know and the level at which you can perform them. Penrose reacts curiously when you describe your affinity with your more unusual spells; Wall of Force, Blink, Vanish and Banishment Ray."Going back to your more complex spells again, I have to say that's quite the eclectic repertoire you have there. Wall of Force for example, well there's little wonder you struggle with it - it's an advanced spell typically only known by fully qualified magi. You need great dexterity of the mind to be able to refine the barrier and as for being able to use it in a fight, well, I've only ever seen a handful of people who can claim to truly be proficient at that.>(Cont.)
>>37346736You Blink is astoundingly impressive if you're capable of what you've said, I'll have to find time to come and watch you demonstrate whilst you're here, but from what you're told me about your struggles with it I believe the issue is actually something different entirely. It's not your mastery of the spell that's lacking, rather your mental constitution overall. I dare say you've been too busy over the years from what you've told me to really find the time necessary to improve it because it requires you to push the levels of your fatigue. Most practitioners have the luxury of time devoted to simple repetition of their spells which serves to both further their understanding of them and gradually extend the duration they can focus their mind for. Unfortunately you do not have the time for that, for it is years of practise that builds this. There is, however, another way that can have pronounced results in a much shorter timeframe. Simply put, in a life and death situation people are forced to go above and beyond what they are normally capable, the mind retracting its comfort limits in order to survive. This practise is inherently risky and whilst it has been refined over the years, typically by the young and impatient, there is still the danger of failure. In your... current state... I would be even more wary of taxing yourself in this manner since it is unknown how the entity that inhabits you will react to you enduring undue mental stress. If you wish to try it you will have to convince me it is wise through several sessions that build up in intensity first.I realise I got a little sidetracked with that explanation, but back to your spells - your Vanish likely suffers primarily in the same manner as Blink. We could also find someone to take a look at your technique, see if we can't improve the quality.>(Cont.)
>>37346753And finally, your Banishment Ray. I'm afraid to say that we have nobody present that would be capable of assisting you in determining whether your ray will indeed expel its target from this plane - summoning magic is not lawfully practised. It's possible that someone here might be capable of casting that spell themselves for you to compare with, I'll have to ask around. But yes, all in all a most curious collection you have. Clearly your father was keen on teaching you spells that would lend their favour to keeping you alive. I think perhaps the most impressive aspect is that you've learnt high level spells, at least to a degree, without having picked up a myriad of lesser spells that offer a mage the mental framework that makes it a lot easier to comprehend the conceptual fundamentals involved."You blush and give an embarrassed smile at these words of praise. It's a nice contrast from what that woman said earlier."Anyway, we won't be able to start on that until tomorrow, it's getting late and I need to arrange your stay with the housestaff."He sits back and opens one of the desk drawers, fishing around a moment before handing you a key. At that moment the door behind you opens and you turn to see that blasted woman again."Ms McKinley here will show you the way, it's room thirty five." he says, addressing McKinley, "And could you show Mira the various facilities too? Dining room, that sort of thing."Shutting the drawer and turning back to you he continues, "I'll be ready to view your performance at nine o'clock tomorrow morning, meet me in the entrance hall. If you've any further questions feel free to ask me now, otherwise Ms McKinley should be able to help with them.">thinly veiled attempt to stay here so i can meet with AyaI feel I should point out that you're currently in England and that Aya is in Ireland.

Firstly, why it's always a good idea to tie a hostage up properly. You take a deep breath to ready yourself, exhale, and repeat to hyper-oxygenate your blood and then spring from the chair->31-only to find that you're pretty stiff from your time sat on it, sending you staggering slightly as your muscles wake back up. It costs you precious seconds and the furthest thug is already pointing at you in alarm so without further ado you spin deftly and grab the chair you'd been tied to, carrying on the momentum of the spin and raising it at head level->63CRACK.You smack the chair over the leader's head, impact shaking it from your grasp as it goes falling past him and there's the moment of truth where he doesn't react and you wait to see how much effect if any you had on him and then he's tilting slightly, everyone's eyes focussed on him before he topples backwards and slams bodily onto the floor, a small plume of dust being thrown up around him.You look back up at the others and they meet your gaze whilst you slowly ready yourself, assuming your fighting stance. The furthest away one is reaching into his pocket, oh god you hope he hasn't got a gun, surely it can't end like thi-And then he draws a flick-knife, snapping the blade out with sharp twist of the wrist. You're not too happy about seeing that appear but at least it's not a gun right?

Look, this is beside the point. Niamh, where can I go to try and find out....things, and can you help me?""Aye shall indeed help yew dear. Aye think that we should go and visit someone who will know more than Aye can tell yew about this. A wise-woman of sorts."You brighten at this suggestion. Yes, a wisewoman sounds like just what you need!"Where do we find her?!" you ask chirpily."...In a barrow.""What's a barrow?""A form of burial chamber.""R-right. So, er, this woman... Is she human?""...No. She's a banshee."---It's about midday that you and Niamh arrive at the barrow, fortunately a relatively short distance outside the town. You're dressed in a new set of clothes that Niamh provided and you're clutching your pipe tightly, lest it slip from your hands. You have a feeling it holds some key part in unravelling the mystery of yourself, though you haven't a clue what that might be.You stand beside an earthen mound, grassy surface broken only on one side by a stone built entrance way leading within."Right, now when we're inside leave the talking ter me. Fair warning, she can take many forms, some more... troubling than others. Try not ter let it bother yew. Ready?""I... I think so. As much as I ever will be.""Alright, come along then.">(Cont.)
>>37346804You follow Niamh down through the low entrance way into the murky gloom, following an unlit tunnel with a shallow gradient downwards. Patches of blackness on either side mark branching passages but you stick close to her, hand clasped firmly over hers to make sure. You turn to see the entrance only to find it a pinprick in the distance.Shortly Niamh slows and you stop sharp to avoid bumping into her."Badhbh, we come seeking yer knowledge" she says and from the darkness before you comes a reply in a clipped, firm tone."Well you better come in then."Niamh squeezes your hand and tugs you after her as she files into the small chamber that your eyes now accustomed to the dark can pick out the surface details of despite no obvious light source. The woman before you appears middle aged, ample bosom and lined face, hair done up in a bun. >>37388110>15You squirm in his hands some more, but you can't get free. Stomping, biting, kicking, nothing seems to work against this guy.Well, YOU can't get free, that is.>90You shift and squirm until you've rummaged battleaxe down to where you can grip the blade between your feet, and lean down to retrieve it with your free hand. The demons tongue snakes out at you, making a slick hiss as it uncoils, and then it turns into a fuckin' serpent. You bring up the axe and cut the side of his tongue a big before he retracts it and howls in outrage. Blood seeps through his chubby lips once more."YOU'RE DEAD!" he shouts as he brings you up in the air. As you go up, though, you see that the area around his wrist looks less firm than his fingers and torso. The same with his elbow and other ambulatory joints. Not wasting what precious time you have, you bring down the battleaxe on his wrist, chopping deep into his skin. His fingers loosen, and you drop towards the earth in a shower of demonic blood. The fat demon's wrist is pouring out blood, his tongue is cut, his wings are torn, his tail is limp, and he has many bullet wounds. However, you get the feeling it's going to take a bit more than that to finish him off.
