Waiting friend

"It's time for dinner, you guys," you tell everyone.

Your friends make their way to the house, Icarus following.

Nappa rises to his feet and starts to walk. Falling into step next to him, you think out loud.

"This planet could be your home if you want," you tell him.

He stops for a moment, seeing to give that some thought. But, all you get is a grunt as he makes his way inside.

You enter the house last, and find the table set, with chicken, corn, and mashed potatoes prepared for everyone. Nappa, as promised, has also received his own pot of stew.

You take your seat at the table, digging in as everyone else does the same. Dinner proceeds rather quietly, and you wonder if you should say something.

Nappa growls and rises, but backs down after glancing in your direction. Your friends watch in confusion as the Saiyan sits back down, grumbling to himself.

Dinner goes on in relative silence after that, and once everyone is done eating, you help your mom with the dishes.

Your friends all say goodbye and return home for the evening, and, excusing yourself, you go outside. Icarus follows, returning to his spot near the chickens.

You briefly consider visiting Kami's Lookout, but decide to visit the Son household instead. As you prepare to leave, Nappa strolls outside.

You elect to ignore the fact that Nappa called you squirt.

"I'm going to Goku and Gohan's house," you inform him. "Want to come?"

"Goku...oh, Kakarot!" Nappa says. "Sure, I want to see how strong he really is."

Before leaving, you decide that it might be a nice gesture to bring Goku and his family some food you grew on the farm, and so you round up a bag of corn, and depart with Nappa.

The two of you move swiftly through the sky, until you realize that you don't really know where exactly Goku and Gohan live. You were told what District they live in, and about a mountain in that District, but, you don't really know where any of those things are. Still, you know what direction East is, and, you're eventually able to sense Goku's energy signature. Before long, you locate his house.

You and Nappa land and approach the house. You knock on the door, and a moment later, Gohan answers.

He smiles upon seeing you. "Hi, Kaguya!"

His expression grows a bit less cheerful as he sees Nappa.

"Goku's still out of commission," King Kai replies, dread in his voice. "Not that it would have made a difference. They don't stand a chance against Frieza!"

"Nah, relax King Kai," Yamcha says. "Kaguya has this."

"I'm afraid you're wrong, Yamcha," King Kai tells him. "Frieza is the most powerful being in the universe. Even Kaguya is no match."

"I'm telling you, the kid's gonna squash Frieza," Yamcha responds confidently.

"You don't get it!" King Kai snaps. "Frieza's destroyed countless worlds, and slaughtered billions of people! You really think Kaguya's the first one to stand against him?"

"No, but he'll be the last opponent Frieza ever has," Yamcha answers.

"You're crazy!" King Kai yells.

"Wanna bet?" Yamcha asks.

King Kai snorts. "What did you have in mind?"

"If Kaguya beats Frieza, you teach me one of your special techniques," Yamcha says.

"And what if I win?" King Kai asks.

"I'll wax your car and clean your house," Yamcha tells him.

"Deal," King Kai agrees.

But, King Kai suddenly tenses, then jumps back in shock. Tien and Yamcha tense, knowing that King Kai's reaction can only be to bad news. After Chiaotzu perished mere minutes ago, the two warriors dread what could be coming next.

"King Kai, what's going on?" Tien asks.

"Frieza's transformed again," King Kai says softly.

"So? What's the big deal?" Yamcha asks. "Kaguya was able to handle Frieza the last two times he transformed."

"No, this time's different," King Kai tells him. "Frieza's power has increased immensely, and I can feel that this is only a fraction of what he's capable of in this new form."

"Come on, King Kai," Tien says. "Once Goku's better, him and Kaguya can handle Frieza together."

"Yeah, they've got this in the bag!" Yamcha agrees

"WOULD YOU TWO IDIOTS STOP AND USE YOUR BRAINS FOR A SECOND?!" King Kai snaps. "You can't sense what's going on down there! I can feel Frieza's power, and it's like nothing you can imagine. Even together, Goku and Kaguya are doomed."

Tien sighs, then tenses when he glances at Yamcha.

"Don't do I-" he starts before Yamcha speaks up.

"Wanna bet?" Yamcha asks.

As Goku desperately attempts to gather energy for the Spirit Bomb, and both Kaguya and Vegeta fight to fend off Frieza, all is quiet and tense on King Kai's world.

The silence is shattered as King Kai cries out in shock.

"What is it?" Tien asks fearfully.

"It's Kaguya!" King Kai replies. "The level of power he's using is unbelievable!"

Yamcha and Tien grin, taking some pleasure in watching King Kai react in disbelief over the next minute before going into a stunned silence.

"I...can't believe it," King Kai says. "Kaguya...he's done it!"

Tien laughs happily. "Yes! That's the way!"

Yamcha stays silent as King Kai and Tien celebrate, a smug look on his face as he waits for them to calm down. Once that happens, he walks up behind King Kai and drops a hand on his shoulder.

"So, I think that means I win," he says, laughing as King Kai grumbles.

She stops her verbal crusade against Nappa for a moment to look at you, smiling as she takes the bag from you.

"Really? Well, that was very thoughtful," she says.

"Oh, and Mr. Nappa has agreed to be good and wanted to come visit Mr. Goku," you explain. "I wanted to see how everyone was doing. Sorry it's so late."

The angry woman seems to calm down quite a bit at that, smiling surprisingly sweetly for someone who looked ready to rip off Nappa's arms and use them to strangle him.

"Well, I guess that's okay," she says. "It was very sweet of you to be thinking about all of us. And such good manners. Goku's-"

"Hey, Chi Chi, we're out of noodles," Goku says as he comes into the room, grinning as he sees you.

"Hey, Kaguya! Good to see you!" he tells you with a grin. His eyes shift to Nappa, and he gives him an equally friendly greeting.

Nappa seems taken aback by this. "Uh...hi, Kakarot."

"What's a Kakarot?" Chi Chi asks.

"It's my Saiyan name," Goku says like it doesn't really matter to him.

"Oh. Well, Mr. Saiyan, his name is Goku," she tells Nappa.

Nappa looks like he's getting annoyed with Chi Chi, but luckily, Gohan seems to have picked up on it.

"Dad, Nappa wanted to see you," he tells Goku.

"Oh? How come?" Goku asks.

"I want to see just how strong Kakarot really is!" he replies.

Goku grins. "Oh, is that so? Then what do you say we go a few rounds?"

"Goku!" Chi Chi yells in exasperation.

"Come on, Chi Chi..." Goku pleads.

As Goku and Chi Chi get into an intense discussion about him sparring with Nappa, you deice to ask Gohan for help.

"Hey, Gohan?" you ask.

"Yeah?" he replies.

"Do you think you can tutor me?" you ask.

He grins and laughs. "Sure!"

Gohan takes you to his room, where you get a good idea just how much time he devotes to studying. Besides a desk and bed, a blackboard, stacks of books, and some other things you don't really recognize fill the room.

Gohan instructs you to take a seat and pulls up the blackboard.

The tutoring begins, and you're quite frankly amazed at how effortlessly Gohan is able to go through the subject he's teaching, in this case, math. He recites rules and formulas so fast it makes your head spin, and you just can't seem to keep up.

Gohan seems to be having a blast, smiling as he goes through the lesson. It takes some time, but you do begin to understand what he's saying, and soon you're able to solve the problems he lays out for you. Addition and subtraction are, of course, easy. And you pick up multiplication and division, writing down multiplication tables in a notebook Gohan provided.

You notice Chi Chi looking into the room on multiple occasions, smiling proudly at her son. You can't blame here. Gohan's a smart kid.

After about an hour, Gohan asks if you want to stop for the day.

He nods. "You did a great job!"

You thank him, and the two of you go to look for Nappa and Goku. As you make your way through the house, a thought occurs to you.

"Hey, Gohan, do you know the science behind energy?" you ask.

He stops, thinking about it. "No, I don't think so. That sounds pretty interesting, though."

The two of you step outside, and find Nappa and Goku sparring. You can tell that Goku is suppressing his power level quite a bit, fighting on about the same level as Nappa. The Two Saiyans block, dodge, punch, and kick back and forth, each one grinning and clearly having a blast.

Nappa flips and attacks Goku with an axe kick, but his opponent jumps back, landing in a crouch and launching himself at Nappa, landing a solid kick to his chest.

Nappa laughs and jumps back up. "Alright, Kakarot, not bad. But let's see if you can deal with this!"

As Nappa charges at Goku, and the match resumes, you look over at Gohan.

"Hey, do you want to come play with me and my friends tomorrow?" you ask.

Gohan smiles. "That sounds great! But...I'll have to ask my mother. And I'd have to find out where you live."

"Well, alright," Chi Chi agrees. "You've gotten right back into studying since you got home, and I guess it is important for you to spend time with kids your own age."

This time around, you seem to be grasping what Gohan is teaching much better. You're able to answer most of the questions Gohan asks pretty easily, much to his joy. You're sure your parents will be happy with your progress, as they've expressed a desire to make sure you get into a good school when you get older.

After another hour, Chi Chi knocks on the door, telling Gohan that it's time for him to get ready for bed.

"Kaguya, would you and your friend like to spend the night?" she asks.

You shout to Nappa, asking if he wants to spend the night, and his response is an enthusiastic "YES!". You're guessing he just doesn't want to stop sparring with Goku any time soon, but a yes is a yes.

You go inside and call your parents, asking if you can stay at your friend Gohan's house.

Your mother tells you that you can stay, provided that you make sure you get home early enough to help with work around the farm.

Soon, an air mattress is set up for you in Gohan's room. You can sense that Goku and Nappa are still going at it outside, and wonder how long Chi Chi will let them keep that up for. Saying goodnight to you and Gohan, she turns off the light and leaves the room, shutting the door behind her.

If it was both of them together I don't think they would have a last stand really. Gohan managed to do alright even solo for quite some time. His biggest disadvantage is that Trunks wasn't up to the task of watching his back when the Androids got tired of playing around with him. If Kags was able to keep from getting killed they probably would have had some victories mixed in with those defeats.

"Yeah, I have nightmares too," he tells you. "After Raditz came, I had nightmares about him all the time. I kept seeing my dad die, or my mom, or Piccolo, or you. And, after Vegeta killed Piccolo, Yamcha, and Tien, I had nightmares about him too."

You arrive to find your parents already up and about, and, after a quick breakfast, you go outside and complete the various chores your parents have given you.

It doesn't take long. In fact, you finish before noon.

Heading to Kazuma's house first, you find him sitting on the porch, wiping sweat off his brow. He looks up and waves upon seeing you, rushing to you as you land.

"Hey, Kaguya!" he greets. "Are we going to your house?"

You tell him that you are, and that it's time to get the others. But, that proves unnecessary, as Haya and Billy meet you half way to Haya's house, flying right up to you. The four of you change course and go to your house, landing out back, not far from Icarus.

"What are we gonna do today?" Haya asks.

"More training?" Kazuma asks.

"We don't need to train!" Billy says. "We already know how to do everything we wanted to learn!"
