Gawain is big and physically strong, but has no actual melee weapons. If we can get inside the firing arc of the Hadron Cannons we can cut away at our leisure. Especially with the fighting inside the cockpit keeping them from coordinating the limbs properly.

Your harkens fly upwards towards the black machine and arc, the blades themselves flying over the shoulders of the machine with the harken lines catching and wrapping themselves around the exposed joints connecting the Gawain’s arms to it’s torso making a perfect and secure grapple.

With the lines taut you practically slam your hand down onto the controls and are jerked back as the harkens lines begin to reel in, pulling you and the Club up towards the Black machine with a surprising amount of force and speed.

The Black machine ceases wavering long enough to throw up it’s arms and fire off it’s fingers. However the shot is poorly aimed and you’re able to block the finger harkens that come towards you, with the blow knocking your remaining MVS blade out of your head, sending it spiraling to the ground below.

Even with the loss of your blade your excitement and anger don’t weaver. All you can do is laugh gleefully as the Lancelot Club all but smashes it’s knees into the Gawain upon begin pull up to it, the harken lines practically tying you and Zero together.

“AhahahahahahaAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yes! I think I like being this close to you Zero, it feels so goooooood! Now I want to see you, I want to see your face! I want to see your real face and tear it off with my bare hands!!!!”

You begin wildly smashing the Club’s fists into the black Knightmare’s head, remaining blows faster than you ever thought you could. The black machine is rather large compared to the Club and it’s frame rather tough, but even with the Club’s bare hands you manage to smash one of the optical lens and crush the two golden ‘ears’ atop it’s head that probably contained important communication equipment.

At first the thick covers of the cannons shield them from your blows, but with your manic strikes and the Gawain’s inability to restrain your arms you quickly mangle them to the point of being able to reach inside.

Just as you strike at the cannon barrels with your make-due punching daggers, Zero throws up the arms of his machine and you hear the whirring of energy collecting in the barrels. You barely pull the Club's hands away in time as two red streaks fire out of the Gawain's shoulders.

Your cockpit grows warm and you can see parts of the Club visibly heat up from being so close to the beams, but nothing is damaged and you grin as you realize you've somehow unfocused the energy cannons.

Before you can continue your attack the Black machine jams it’s large arms underneath the Club’s own arms and you hear the rush of firing slash harkens. For a brief moment you think that Zero is trying to hit your cockpit with his harkens, but you don’t even hear so much as a scrape against the outside of your cockpit.

Whatever Zero fired at, he missed.

“That won’t save you! Nothing will! You’re mine Zero, all mine! AHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!”

Suddenly your stomach gurgles and you feel your weight drastically shifting. Turning the Club’s head you see the Black Machine’s harken lines stick firmly into the ground and reeling in like mad. The Gawain rushes towards the ground at a near ramming speed, with you all but strapped to the front of it.

The Gawain isn't up very high, but it's moving fast and your cockpit is going to be the first thing that hits the ground. It's unlikely that the impact will kill you, you've survived worse, but if you're knocked unconscious or staggered for too long Zero will be able to free himself of you and disable you...

It’s a bit of a reach, but even strapped to the front of Zero’s machine you can just reach the cockpit and the wings protruding from it. You don’t know how to properly disable a Float System, so you settled for hacking off the wings and wildly gouging out important looking chunks from the side of the Black Machine’s cockpit.

Your work immediately shows as the Gawain goes from rushing towards the ground at an angle to dropping straight down like a stone tossed from an airliner.

The Gawain winds up landing on it’s back and saves you from the brunt of the blow, though you smash your head off the side of the cockpit and begin to bleed you don’t notice it and just giggle with joy at seeing Zero’s machine downed.

Unable to untangle yourself the crashed Gawain you're forced to purge your hip slash harkens and move over to retrieve your nearby weapons. With the V.A.R.I.S back on the Club's hip and the MVS and Revolving Blade Katana in your hands you march over to the Gawain just as it begins to struggle to right itself, the previously air born machine struggling under the pull of gravity.

"What's the matter? Are you stuck Zero?" You ask over the speaker, laughing gleefully as you roll the Club over.

"Here, let me help you out of there!"

You raise your blade to slice the cockpit from the black machine when a shot rings out, throwing dirt into an air as a grenade round lands a mere foot from you.

Turning you see a familiar red machine rushing through the woods at you...

Your words seem to fill Kallen with uncertainty and cause her to hesitate. She throws up the Guren’s radiation arm one second too late, allowing your shot to hit her machine directly before she can activate the Radiation surge to block it. This hesitate costs her greatly as the V.A.R.I.S shot rips through the Guren’s arm and punches through it’s torso, gouging off a chunk of her cockpit in the process.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-” You can practically hear the blood spitting from Kallen’s mouth as her cockpit ejects mere moments before the Guren explodes in a brilliant purple haze. All you can do is cackle with mad laughter as you watch Kallen’s cockpit smash into a tree and tumble to the ground.

“Oh goodness, Kallen are you alright? Hmmm, I don’t think you’re dead just yet so I won’t forget you until I can make sure!” Your voice is filled with the old sound of your genuine concern, but your ecstatic laughs give away the true malice of your intentions.

Raising your blade, you look down to strike Zero’s cockpit…only to see it open and empty.

You immediately thrust down, twisting your blade and shredding the cockpit to ensure Zero wasn't hiding inside. Your suspicions are confirmed when you see Zero and a green haired girl running towards the forest. Though 'running' seems like a poor description, the green haired girl is all but dragging Zero along who looks like he barely as the strength left to walk.

"Where do you think you're going? You can't escape me!"

Stepping on top of the Gawain, you raise the Club's arm and aim one of your remaining Slash Harkens to kill them both.

Probably not. But we did completely destroy the Guren beyond the point of repair, so that's pretty good. Combine it with wrecking the Gawain and the Black Knights are down their two strongest Knightmares. Really we just have to shoot Todoh's Gekka and they're left with nothing but grunts. That makes me oddly happy. Probably won't be that big a loss for them, but it's just satisfying in some weirdly sadistic way.

With you banged up and Suzaku covered in enough blood to be mistaken for an Axe murderer, you decide it’s best if you just focus on getting the Lancelot Club and the other disabled machines marked for recovery.

It’s dark, but Suzaku brought a flashlight with him and you’re able to navigate through the dark, finding the wrecks and highlighting them with flares taken from the emergency box in your cockpit.

There’s nothing left of the Black or Red machine, but you find a few semi-intact white machines and a mostly intact white machine with nothing but it’s cockpit blown off. After a little bit of waiting the Avalon finally landed on Ashford grounds, deploying a few trailers to recover the Club and the other damaged machines.

Cecile drives out to meet you and practically screams at the sight of Suzaku. After all but forcing you two into the truck, you’re taken aboard the Avalon and stripped out of your clothes.

Suzaku is given a shower and you’re looked over by a medic instead of Dr. Pailsen due to the sheer influx of passengers aboard the Avalon, with several injured students being wheeled by to the infirmary. The medic says you’re fine, cleans your wounds, bandages you up, and gives you a few mild painkillers.

All the while Cecile is watching over you and prodding Suzaku to get looked over by the medic too.

"Are you alright?" Cecile asks for the seventh time.

"Yes, no internal bleeding or anything just some nasty cuts and bruises." You state, reiterating what the medic told you.

"I found a dozen holes in the bottom of your cockpit Shirley, two through the bottom of your seat. I don't know how that shrapnel didn't hit and kill you, but I'm thankful."

Cecile hands you a bottle of water and you drain it in one go.

"I'm going to go help with the evacuation now, there are some people I need to find. I shouldn't take too long."

You turn to leave, but Cecile stops you.

You approach your friends, making no attempt to hide who you are. As you walk towards them some of the students stop and stare at you with confusion and disbelief in their eyes. You continue to walk until you’re arms length away from Milly who turns around and locks eyes with you. A gasp of relief escapes her lips and she pulls you forward, hugging you tight enough that she begins to physically hurt you.

“I knew it, I knew it.” Milly mutters as you return the embrace.

“Wait, you knew I was in the Special Corp?”

“Well Lloyd IS my husband after all, but to be honest I didn’t know for sure. I just thought it suspicious that a girl matching your description showed up working for him the same time you said you were in therapy…”

There’s no hate, or bitterness, or anything but happiness in Milly’s voice as she pulls you ever closer as Rivalz looks on.

“I think I should save the questions for later, but was that you fighting out there Shirley? Suzaku was fighting off those Black Knight guys when it happened, but I swore I heard your voice coming from the forest. I didn’t hear much after that due to the gunfire, but it sounded like you were in trouble…”

“Yeah I was fighting. Me and Suzaku came here to rescue all of you.” You reply, smiling. “None of you got hurt though, right? Did any of the students or teachers die in the fight?”

“Thankfully, no.” Milly replies. “A few got hurt of the teachers got hurt and some of the more thick headed students nearly got shot trying to run off, but they’re all getting medical treatment now thanks to you.”

"What about Nunnally? Is she OK? The poor girl must be scared..." You ask, suddenly remembering the blind and crippled girl who attended the school.

“Nuna-who?” Milly turns and stares at you like you’d asked where the sentient lobster men were.

“Nunnally. You know, the little blind girl in the wheelchair? About this tall...sitting down? She's been an honorary student council member for years?” You hold you hand out to give a rough approximation of the girl’s height and Milly just shakes her head.

“Shirley, there’s never been anyone like that at this school. The only new student we'vehad in the last week or so was that silver haired boy and he went on a trip shortly before all this started…”

You freeze up and stare at Milly, hoping for her to be making some kind of joke, but she looks back as serious as ever and you’re left questioning yourself.

Did Nunnally ever really exist? Are you not only forgetting precious memories but manufacturing them as well?

You question Suzaku about the whole affair and he seems equally confused.

“Come on Milly isn’t the time to be joking around!” Suzaku’s formal and respectful tone vanished as slight traces of anger flooded through his voice.

Seeing the confusion and outright worry in Milly’s eye’s however made him stop, his expression turning into a grimace of terror.

“Milly, where’s Nunnally? Where’s Lelouch for that matter?”

"Suzaku, there's never been a Nunnally here, at least not that I remember. As for Lelouch he disappeared about a week ago, mentioned something about going to the Chinese Federation or something..."

Suzaku looks like he's about to have some kind of panic attack and you place your hand on his shoulder.

"It's alright Suzaku, we'll figure this out later. Right now we need to get all the students on the ship. Once that's done we can go look for Nunnally..."

Suzaku looks to you, thankful and relieved as ever, but the tension and anger in his body movements don't leave.

As soon as you got Milly, Rivalz, and the rest of the students on board you began searching the school.

You got to Nunnally and her brother’s room, what was his name? You think on it hard and all you get is a big fat headache. He was someone on the student council with you. If you can’t remember him he probably wasn’t all that important.

Finding the room isn’t as hard as you’d imagine, it’s as if you’d been to Nunnally and her brother’s room quite a lot before now. The door isn’t locked and you walk right inside to start looking around for any clues.

It’s a nice place, though it’s less a ‘room’ and more a little house with bedrooms, a dining room, and a small kitchen.

You didn’t talk to Nunnally too much, she was younger then you and wasn’t even in high school yet, but you remember seeing her quite a lot with her maid Sayoko. She was a sweet girl and her being blind AND crippled still breaks your heart. Her brother must have been a pretty nice guy if he set up allowing her to live her at the school with him, it’s strange that you don’t remember meeting or speaking with him.

Mulling that over you search the room for any clues…

Just like when you were investing that Drill Sergeant back in boot camp, you seem to pick things out and notice small things. The first is that everything is very clean, almost purposefully so. There’s no signs of struggle or fighting, in fact it’s just the opposite. Things have been put away and cleaned up as if whoever lived here prepared to leave for quite some time.

Some clothes are missing from what you assume to be Nunnally’s room and her wheelchair isn’t anywhere to be found, but there’s nothing missing from what you believe to be her brother’s room which is pretty bland despite the mountain of discarded pizza boxes you find stashed away in his closest.

Seeing the pizza boxes makes you hungry for a slice, but you ignore the craving and turn your focus back to searching.

Eventually you check the dining room and notice the paper.

It’s surprising it didn’t catch your eye before with how out of place it seems amongst the spotless house you’ve looked through. A single sheet of paper sits between two paper cranes, a blue one and a pink one, one looking better made than the other.

You pick up the paper and notice immediately that it’s written in a dark red ink...or is it blood?

Scrawled in the center of the paper is a strange bird-like symbol that you recognize seeing when you were going through the tunnel that the rebels made back at that old shrine. Something about the symbol is unnerving and you avert your eyes down to the small, flowery writing underneath that seems to be written in blood as well.

“All I want is a power to change the world into a kinder and gentler place….that is my wish and I sacrifice my name in order to have it granted.”

You can't be sure, but this seems like Nunnally's hand writing...

"Did you find anything?" Suzaku asks as he enters the room, making you jump.
