You make your way gradually across the city to your Master's home, still at least partially lost. What you'd initially intended as a shortcut seems to have turned into a massive black hole of time. You must have spent hours in that damned seaside estate. Still, a small price to pay for the knowledge and material wealth you've gained.

You eventually emerge from the dockside markets into the Vatis District proper, passing through the nearly abandoned streets. By and large foot traffic in the Vatis district uses the raised walkways which stretch between residence, rather than soiling themselves by stepping upon the cobbled streets everyone uses. You make good time to your Master's residence and find that the place hasn't yet burned down. At least, it doesn't appear so from the outside. Perhaps the interior tells a different story.

You knock on the door front door and step aside, waiting. Eventually the door opens to reveal your Master's new apprentice, Rasim, staring up at you wide-eyed and terrified. Before you can speak, he bombards you with a slur of panicked speech. “Thank god you're back the Master has been trying all day to keep the dragon calm but-”

You clamp a hand over his mouth and drag him inside, slamming the door shut behind you with a simple spell. You wait a few moments, before gently prying your hand off of his mouth. He looks up to you expectantly. “Now then, slowly. Explain to me what's going on and don't shout about my son in public.”

Rasim takes a deep, shaky breath before continuing. “Your son has been tearing up the house all day! First he just sloshed water out of the bath and made it boil and steam, and that was fine Master didn't really mind, but then he ripped up the oven and crawled inside to sleep and now he's tracking ash all over the house and he set the master's favorite curtains on fire and-” He steadily increases the pace of his speech until it all just blends together into one stuttering mess. You cut him off with a gesture and push him aside, striding into your Master's home. The stones around the edge of the bath are charred black and water is everywhere, even on the ceiling and around the stairs. However, you don't see Zahak.

Climbing the stairs you find your Master sitting in the wreckage of his sitting room, the cushions torn to shreds and smoking where they've had holes burnt into them. Zahak has curled himself in a corner, tongue lolled out the side of his head and tail slapping against the floor rhythmically. Your master is smoking from a hose attached to his favorite silver hookah, a dazed look in his eyes. Seems he's quite far gone after the stress of the day.

You make your way first to Zahak, he is your son after all. As you draw closer you come to find that his thoughts are sluggish and thick. Happiness and lethargy seem to roll off of him in waves, you start to feel sleepy just because of the mental connection you share. You don't think anything's wrong with him, he's just high out of his mind. You don't even want to know how much opium your master had to give Zahak to get him in this state. Pounds of the stuff, you imagine. Then again you suppose you can't be certain.

Scolding him in his current state would do you no good, he wouldn't hear or remember a thing you said. Instead you merely reach into your cloak and extract his burning blanket, draping it over his curled up frame so only his head pokes out the end. You tuck him in, using fire magic to prevent yourself from being burned, then scratch at the base of Zahak's horns before turning your attention finally to your Master.

You cross the hall and take as eat on a pillow next to the hunched form of your master. He doesn't look at you, staring off with glazed eyes at a space on the wall. He used to do this to trick you when you were an apprentice, he'd wait until you tried to shake him awake and then make a lump of ice smash you in the back of the head. It hurt terribly, you always hated it when he did it.

Hesitantly, you reach out to shake him by the shoulder. Fortunately you feel him channeling vys and manage to turn the ice to steam before it smashes you over the back of the head. Instead of a painful concussion, you're just left with slightly moistened hair. Your Master whips his head around to face you, launching into a tirade.

“I'd call you a son of a bitch, but that would be an insult to your mother! Do you know the trouble you caused me trying to keep that beast contained?! You can't just leave someone alone with your adopted dragon son for two fucking days and expect to show up again like all is right with the world!” You shrink back instinctively. You're not sure why, but something about your Master yelling at you makes you feel like a child again, it's humbling.

“I raised you to be more considerate than this, Mikhael! Your mother raised you to be more considerate than this! Gods above, this is worse than the time you called Rajani a dyke and she challenged you to a duel. Far worse! At least that was an opportunity to bring honor to me and your family! Then there was that time you and Ismail got caught stumbling out of a whore house together; do you know how much I spent on bribes to keep that quiet? Six hundred gold, down the drain! I had to feed a pound and a half of good opium to that beast of yours to finally get it to calm down! How do you think you're going to make this up to me?!”

You hold up your hands in mock surrender. “You have every right to be upset, Master. I have wronged you. I have neglected my duties as a father and left them in your hands. I had no idea he would react this way to my absence, but I've learned my lesson and I won't leave you to deal with this again in the future. I'll be sure to dole out proper punishment and make sure that he understands this sort of behavior is unacceptable.”

Somewhat mollified, your master sighs deeply and begins to massage his temples. “Well at least you know when you've fucked up, you've got that going for you. None of that is going to fix my oven or get back my dope though. I mean I guess we could run over to one of the neighbor's to get a hot meal but it's hardly proper for a Vatis in my position to be seen begging for food. I'll just need to cook dinner myself, I suppose...”

You reach into your cloak, withdrawing bricks of thick, black, fragrant opium covered in greasy wax paper. Your master raises an eyebrow as you set them down in front of him. “At the very least, I can restore and grow your stockpile. It's the least I can do considering the damage Zahak has caused.” You state humbly, while your master is busy peeling back the wax paper and inspecting the goods.

He breaks off a chunk and rolls it between his fingers, wafting it under his nostrils and tasting it briefly. After a time he needs, tearing off another chunk and packing it into the bowl of his hookah pipe. He waves a hand, a flare of light emanating from the bowl, and then takes a deep drag from his hose. After what seems like several minutes of holding his breath he exhales a veritable cloud of rich, blue smoke.

“This is really good.” He mumbles quietly, mostly to himself you think. He's slumped a little further into the pillows around him, his eyelids starting to droop. You're pretty sure if you don't do something he's going to doze off.

You reach into your cloak and extract the brooch you have left over from the deaths of those pirates by Ricky's hands. You wave it in front of your master's face, his eyes tracking it slowly. He's still conscious, then. “This is a artifact which will let me communicate to you mentally, my father wants me to give it to you so he can have a way to get in touch with me if he needs to.” Your master nods slowly, taking another drag from his hose. You go on. “I'm going to prick your finger, and attach it to your collar.”

You wait until he nods again before pricking his finger on the sharp point of the brooch, doing the same to yourself. Once that's done, you attach it to his collar and feel a new connection force its way into the growing knot of foreign presences at the back of your thoughts. Carefully you reach out and open the connection, his thoughts drifting lazily into your own. They mostly seem to revolve around Zahak, you, and his apprentice. Nothing specific really.

{Can you hear me, Master?}

Wow, that opium really must be strong stuff. You wonder how long it had been locked in that vault before you uncovered it. {That sounds great, Master. We'll talk later. Get some rest now.}

He doesn't give you a reply, his mind disconnecting from your own. Seems he's dozed off. He must have been really high to start with if two hits was all it took to knock him out. Surely no dope can be that powerful. You glance at the hose for a moment before ultimately shaking your head, you've still got more to do today.

When we spent the night at our parents Soma strongly hinted that we should sleep, and when we started the day, for the first time in almost 100 threads it was specifically mentioned that after we finished our meditation we still weren't feeling rested. We're getting the hints, and I'd rather not wait till we start hallucinating and chop off our own arm when we can just rest for 8 hours and reset the system.

Can we compromise that could be wise to sleep every now and then instead of meditating all the time. Can we all agree on that?

You sigh, picking up the bricks of opium and carrying them into the kitchen. You open the cabinet where you recall your Master used to keep his supply and find that little has changed in the last... well, you suppose it's almost been two years since you earned your robes and got a place of your own. You'll be turning twenty-seven years old in only fourteen days. It's a little strange to think that in such a short time you've advanced so far.

With the drugs out of your son's reach, you make your way towards the stairs and climb up to the third floor. The third floor is where the apprentice and the Master sleep, as well as where the master's study and the guest bedrooms are usually relegated. If you recall correctly your master's study and bedroom are both one room, the center door on the right, and the apprentice's bedroom is directly across the hall. The other four doors are guest bedrooms, so some of your party members must have doubled up. You don't see anyone in the hall.

At first you think about going door to door, but then you realize that's silly. You merely reach out to each of them via the brooches and send out an announcement. {I'm back! Sorry for keeping everyone waiting, I was waylaid in an old mansion by a spirit.}

Chrys is the first to respond. {I expect you'll be telling us all about this adventure of yours at the earliest of opportunities. Are you just getting back?}

{Of course Chryss, I'll tell you all about it. I've actually been back for some time but I was speaking with my former Master regarding the havoc Zahak has been wreaking in my absence. I'm in the hall right now.}

Her head pokes out the door to your left a moment later, Darzi standing behind her. One by one your companions filter out into the hall; Mortia shy admitting she's glad to see you, Chrys merely nodding, Darzi scolding you for being so long in returning but admitting she had a fun time with your family, Skull Kid saying he hopes you had a good time at least. Even Fulvia seems glad that you're back. There is, however, one face missing. You don't see Profectus anywhere.

{Prof, where have you gotten yourself lost? Don't tell me I need to drag you out of another whore house.}

His response comes after only a brief delay. {Sorry Mik, I'm on my way back now. I had the weirdest fucking day, let me tell you. Met an old Vatis who took me to this amazing library. Anyway, I'll tell you more when I get back. It was great.}

Huh, the last thing you expected was Profectus to seek out the tutelage of an experienced Vatis while you were away. You're glad he's starting to take some initiative when it comes to the advancement of his magical power. Maybe he's really going to try and impress that hermit girl living in the mountains.

That was an odd series of thoughts. You never really expected to care about whether or not one of your friends will impress a mountain hermit.

You hold up your hands, begging your companions hold their questions. “I'll tell you all about my adventures once Profectus gets back. For now I'll leave it at this: I think I've found us a base of operations here in El-Amin. At the very least it should be a good place to relax that's out of my Master's and my family's hair. I assume Darzi has already filled all of you in on what happened at my family home.”

You're met with a sea of nodding heads. Gods above, your party has gotten big. Seven people. Pushing that thought from your mind you turn on your heels and make your way down two flights of stairs to the first floor, where the bath lies. You carefully slip off your fancy new robes and fold them on a rack designed to hold such garments. Then you go about the process of stripping off your under robes and your trousers and hanging them on hooks made available for the purpose.

You slip into the steaming hot water with a grateful sigh, letting the warmth seep into your aching joints. Today had really taken a lot out of you. You started the day well enough with a training session, but having forgotten knowledge forced into your mind by an ancient spirit would tire out anyone. You take a few minutes to yourself, merely relaxing, but eventually your peaceful soak is disturbed by the sound of a door slamming open.

Profectus strides into the room. “Mik! Good to see you're okay. Why on Earth did the people who designed this house think it was a good idea to have the front door open up into the baths?”

(1/2)
>>
You sigh, sitting up on a stone bench set beneath the water line. “It's because the entire district is connected to a system of pipes which deliver running water. The pipes run mainly using the force of gravity, so they couldn't be placed on a second or third story. As for why there isn't a curtain or something to preserve modesty; well, ask my master. I'm not sure.” You shrug. He's always been an odd one.

Profectus shakes his head. “I don't think I'm going to go asking an old man about his proclivities. You can feel free if you'd like. Anyway, find me upstairs when you're done and we can swap stories. I'm curious to hear about this spirit you met.” You nod, and he makes his way across the room to vanish up the stairs. You happily return to soaking in the hot water.

Once you feel sufficiently relaxed, the soreness and aching in your muscles and joints alleviated, you rise and quickly dry off. It takes only a moment to get dressed, at which point you make your way upstairs. You find your companions in your master's seating area, your master and Zahak still fast asleep among the pillows. Most of your companions are out on the balcony. It's a pleasant night; the temperature is perfect and there's not a cloud in the sky. Most of them are chatting pleasantly amongst one another and you see at least a few bottles being passed around.

You hadn't noticed at first, but at least Chrys and Mortia are wearing new robes. Chrys bought a set of black robes with dark blue trim and some sort of thin geometric design on the shoulders in gold. It's all quite minimalist. Mortia on the other hand went with robes colored a rich gold, the trim dyed in imperial purple. She has a black shawl with silver patterns thrown across her shoulders, presumably to keep warm. It must have cost her a fortune. Come to think of it, don't you have Chrys' money with you? Maybe she borrowed from Mortia...

There were multiple hints, and I'm not going to bother looking for them all, but the one I think is probably the most worrying is,

Slowly the world slips away, until all that remains is the blackness of your trance and the bright, flowing strands of vys. They almost seem to sing to you, humming a subtle tune as they weave through the air. Old friends pleased to see your return. It's quite the surreal experience, meditation isn't usually like this.

You lean forward, elbows resting against your knees as you launch into your story. “Well, I took a detour to avoid the crush of bodies in the market and I wound up wandering through the docks. I got a little lost and I wound up stumbling across this old abandoned merchant's guild headquarters. I asked a passer-by, a fisherman, and he told me it used to belong to some guild or other which got conquered by that Elven warlord rampaging across the north. Anyway, a sign out front proclaimed the building for sale and directed interested parties to inquire inside.”

You pause to make sure that you've got everyone's attention before continuing. “Now, the gate was chained and locked so I found it a touch odd that the sign would say to inquire inside. I broke the lock and poked around for a bit, didn't really find much of interest. A few knick knacks here and there. That is, until I came across a big fat tom in one of the old bedrooms-”

Profectus interrupts with a snap of his fingers. “Ths spirit, calling it now.”

You shoot him a glare. “Yeah, maybe it is maybe it isn't. All will be revealed, my friend. Patience.” You clear your throat. “Anyway, I didn't think much of it at first. It started following me around. Then I came to a library and used my staff to see if anything was lurking in the stacks. Wouldn't you know it, the cat wasn't actually alive.” You ignore Profectus mouthing the words 'called it' in favor of carrying on with your story.

“So I tried to communicate with it for a while, but it wasn't saying a word. After awhile I just decided to ignore it and carry on with my investigation. Then this cat runs out in front of me and starts leading me around like it owns the place. I keep ignoring it, but then we get to this old study and things got a little... well, odd. There was a mirror which portrayed me as cloaked in darkness being controlled by black tentacles, and a desk with no obvious entrance. Then there was this ladder stretching up into the void of the ceiling. This was a seriously huge room. I climbed the ladder, took forever to reach the top. The cat was waiting for me at the top, of course.” You're met with a chorus of 'of course' in return.

“So by this point I'm convinced I'm in the company of a spirit, but what I found in the next room. Let me tell you, it was amazing. Books as far as the eye could see, a massive pillar with the biggest telescope you've ever seen sitting in the center, star charts and strange maps. You'll never guess what was behind one of the bookcases.”

Mortia speaks up this time. “Don't tell me it was a secret door.”

You sigh. “Apparently it's a cliché for a reason. It was a secret door to a room that seemed, in my opinion, designed for enchanting. The cat was waiting for me next to this carved orb at the back of the room, and there were all sorts of tools scattered about. I didn't take two steps into the room before that orb started glowing and knocked me unconscious.”

Darzi sighs in exasperation. You, in turn, switch to using the brooches for the rest of the conversation. After all, you don't know who might be listening. {The cat turned out to be some sort of dragon-lion hybrid. It was a spirit, of course. Very strange. The first animalistic spirit I ever met. It called itself Mahana Atma'agaprthvi and acted all high and mighty, claiming to be one of the greatest of spirits. I have no doubt as to the validity of its claim, but it didn't really seem all that powerful. Long story turned short, I agreed to acquire an ancient key from the Grand Library of El-Amin in return for forgotten knowledge.}

Silence.

{Oh, and I'll be building a few shrines in its honor.}

Much to your surprise, Profectus is the first to break the silence. {Soo, I take it we won't be stealing from that massive compound of armed guards and incredibly powerful magic users. That would seem unwise, to say the least.}

Darzi seems to blame herself more than anyone else. {Gods, when will I learn to never leave you alone? I could've prevented all of this if I'd merely stayed the night. I'm a fool! You're a fool!}

Your other companions seem to be in various stages of shock. Save Chryssa. She merely calmly inquires {Could we not simply purchase the artifact?}

That is, in fact, a possibility. However, display artifacts are often prohibitively expensive. They're at least actually for sale, but it won't be cheap.

Hmm, yeah I see your point. But can we try not to steal it. Even we can't buy it maybe we can convince the people in charge of it to come with us and see the book themselves and convince them open it (I know its far fetch and the other problems it could have), or study it closely and make a copy of it. The spirit only seems to care about about getting the book open. We should probably investigate and find out more about it, the mansion and the key.

Isn't this the perfect opportunity, though?

Chrys wanted us to keep this a secret for fairly obvious reasons, so when we leave for the killing with our companions safely in that house we can claim its a father son bonding trip or somesuch. Also, if we want to distract him during the assassination we can just give him a particularly difficult meditation challenge, or be really creative in some made up game.
>>
>>37276313
Before we do anything for any kind of assassination we need to meditate on Hidden.
>>
>>37276313
Maybe? I'm trying to internally balance the risk of leaving him in that spirits house with our companions and the risk of him coming with us and taking up some sort of murderish bad habit. Don't really want to leave him on his own, but having him observe us killing someone for no apparent reason would be bad.

You grin. {That's actually exactly what we're going to do Chrys. I'll make a trip to the palace tomorrow to inquire about getting my Grandmaster's robes. Once I have my robes, I can waltz right into the Grand Library with impunity and ask about purchasing the artifact. It's going to be expensive, but we ought to be able to afford it. In exchange, we get a rather impressive manse.}

Chrys merely nods in approval, where as Darzi and Profectus sigh almost in unison, clearly relieved. Mortia, for her part, visibly relaxes. You hadn't really realized she'd tensed in the first place. Only Skull Kid and Fulvia seem utterly unphased by the news.

{Here I was looking forward to putting my new inventions to use. Ah well, such is life. I'm sure there will be other opportunities.} Skull Kid laments. You suppose that armed robbery would prove quite exciting, but it's not really how you'd like to go about this.

“For tonight, we'll rest and relax. Tomorrow, I'll go and take the test. I need to scold Zahak for the trouble he's caused once he becomes cognizant of his surroundings again. I'm not optimistic that will happen any time soon, considering the sheer amount of opium my Master funneled down his throat. He'll probably be out until morning, at least.”

Profectus passes you a bottle of dark red wine, and you take it gratefully. As you kick back the first swig you're surprised to find it's an especially fine vintage. It's sweet, without being overbearing. You detect subtle hints of a variety of fruits and berries as well as cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and aniseed. The wine is hot and mulled, serving well to drive out the slight chill of the Pidjatan night. You suck down another mouth full before passing back the bottle.
(1/2)
>>
“Lets drink and be merry; when was the last time we actually got to relax without the looming threat of pirates and death?” Profectus ask.

Darzi wryly responds. “Not even a week ago. Remember those three days you spent lounging on the beach with that woman of yours? You seemed pretty relaxed.”

Profectus holds a finger to his lips, shushing her. You get the feeling there's some sort of mental exchange going on that you're unprivy too. You must admit, you're a little peeved you didn't have three days to lounge on the beach. That sounds pretty wonderful.

The flying predators are probably not several hundred meter tall worms that kill entire caravans, and we have guns. Futuristic ones. I feel better about our chances up rather than down. You turn your attention to Profectus, gesturing to him broadly. “So, my friend. I believe the stage is yours. What adventures did you have last night?”

Profectus lowers the bottle from his lips and quickly swallows his mouthful of wine, passing the bottle in turn to Darzi. “Well, we all started off wandering the markets together. Then Mortia and Chrys split off to go look at robes, and Skull Kid saw a smithy he wanted to check out. Fulvia and I ended up in a tavern shooting dice and playing cards until we got separated. I must have tried to stumble home by myself at some point during the night because I got horribly lost all by myself.”

He takes the bottle back from Darzi, kicking it back once more and passing it next to Chrys. “So anyway, I'm slumped against the side of an alley feeling sorry for myself when this old man whacks me on the back of the head with his cane. While I'm rolling around on the ground hoping I'm not concussed, he starts talking about how much of a giant wuss that I am. He told me to follow him, and idiot that I am I agreed.”

He rolls back the sleeve of his shirt to display a slightly bloody bandage. “Our first stop was this shady little hole-in-the-wall shop where the old guy had me strapped to a chair. I thought I was about to be sacrificed to some dark god. Instead he got out a needle and started to stitch up my skin. Turns out he was just giving me a tattoo. It hurt like hell, but it actually turned out really well. The old guy turned out to have a real knack for design and he could control the ink beneath my skin.”

I'm thinking of the desert like the Zone in the stalker games, you can "pretty" much travel the outskirt of the area in jeans and shit but a raid into the heavily radiated/anomalous area would require a lot of gears/skill to pull off.

Only the best can make it into Pripyat proper and from these there's an handfull that can reach the NPP & the wishgranter(kek).

Don't even get me started about C-cons

lost your name.

He taps the bandage, wincing. “I can't remove this yet, but he carved two concentric rings into my skin with these weird symbols all across them. He told me I'd understand their purpose when the time is right. Anyway, then he dragged me off to the library and started to lecture me about the nature of the universe and how to be a man and all sorts of other crap. At first I was bored out of my mind, but I've got to admit. By the end of it he hand my attention. He told me all about what it was like to live in Hiacia, and fight the Rhynian Empire. He sort of reminded me of the Varistha, except more ornery. Then one minute he's sending me into the stacks to fetch a book, the next he vanishes into thin air.”

He rolls down his sleeve, sighing. “I miss that guy. He was a real great person once you got to know him. A little rough around the edges, but I really learned a lot.”

To you, concentric circles and strange symbols says enchanting. Yet, surely, no old Vatis would just enchant a person on a whim. Besides you, there aren't even any enchanters left. Right?

Fulvia frowns slightly. “Is that what you abandoned me to go run off and do. I will have you know you will receive none of my five hundred silver in winnings. They will remain with me until such a time as I believe you responsible enough to receive a share.”

Profectus pouts, and starts to argue that he contributed just as much to her winnings as she did. Apparently he corralled suckers to play her and she in turn robbed them blind. She states that she would've done just as well without him, and in fact did just as well after he left. It turns into quite the amusing little back and forth.

>>
As the various bottles go back and forth you start to feel a little tipsy, and the conversation starts to flow a little easier. Eventually you find yourself leaning precariously over the railing with one arm around Chrys and the other around Profectus, you and all seven of your companions screaming a bawdy Rhynian drinking song into the night air. Even Chrys, straight-faced as always, ends up participating.

You decide to retire for the night shortly after. Darzi announces that she'll do the same, and the two of you unsteadily make for the stairs. Getting up the stairs without falling on your face is a feat which ought to earn you a medal of some sort. As you're standing outside the door to the bedroom you'll be sharing with Profectus, Darzi stops you.

“Listen, Mik. Chrys told me about what happened back at the temple.” You groan, letting your forehead smack lightly against the door. Darzi is quick to clarify. “No, no, I just want to apologize. You see, I've been pressuring her to be more forward and assertive. I get the sense that's the wrong strategy for her. I'll ease off, going forward.”

>Honestly, it's fine. You'd just rather not discuss it.
>Encourage her, it's the only way she'll ever work up the courage to take initiative.
>Thank her. You don't want to have to deal with Chrys drunkenly mouth-raping you again.

I was thinking to use them as a detergent more than anything else. This is the most lethal environment in the world; stupid creatures don't survive here, and stupid creatures don't hang around enormously loud, unfamiliar metal creatures that can sting them from hundreds of meters away. They can also output shots more accurately and more shots downrange, which would be better suited for lighter built, more agile creatures. Seeing as most avian creatures have hollow bones, we won't really need hand-cannons either.

I like Chys, and in other circumstances I would really want to see if things could work with us. The thing that has me worried is that if we start seeing each other, I can never come home again. She deserves better then to be hidden, but it's worth my life if it gets reported that I'm together with a foreigner. I'm actually not sure what I should do here.

>future guns are shit compared to our enchanted guns

No. Firstly we only have the one gun. Which has two shots before a reload. Really big shots, if we want to pours some vys into them, but still. 2 Shots. As opposed to the pistol or SMG we have. And a needle gun. And a shotgun. Different strokes for different folks, by which I mean use those in people sized enemies and the fireball vys pistol for bigger/weirder shit.

You turn to face Darzi, back leaned against the door frame. She's paused by her own door at the opposite end of the haul. Once you've confirmed that nobody is coming up the stairs, you respond. “Thank you, Darzi. I know you meant well but I get the sense that Darzi is completely inexperienced when it comes to matters of the heart.”

Darzi winces. “Bad kisser, I take it?”

You nod. “Absolutely terrible, I'm afraid. It felt more like she was attacking me.”

Darzi adopts a wicked sort of grin. “Perhaps I ought to teach her the ropes. You wouldn't mind, I'm sure.”

You shoot her a glare. “You know I'd always heard that the women in the City Guard swung that way but I'd never believed it. Guess I owe Ismail a gold piece.”

Darzi sticks her tongue out at you teasingly before responding. “Oh please, I'm not actually interested in girls. There's too much drama with women. I should know, I am one. I prefer the strong, silent type.” With that, she slips inside and shuts the door behind her. The last you hear is a muffled 'good night'.

You sigh, slipping inside your own room and making your way over to the bed. It's a wide, rectangular mattress set upon a raised wooden platform. You know the guest beds to be comfortable enough, although you'll be sharing this one with Profectus. It won't be the first time the two of you have bunked together, but you have to admit you're glad you get here first.

You strip down to your silken trousers and crawl beneath the sheets, making yourself comfortable. You intended to only rest your eyes for a moment, just to remind yourself what it's like to sleep. However, the moment your head hits the pillow you feel your consciousness start to fade. Struggle as you might to stay awake, the blackness envelopes you in its warm embrace.

We have been very fucking non-racist in every interaction we have had which wouldn't disadvantage us to act as such.
