After dying in a plane accident and being reborn in an rpg world, our MC has befriended a wide array of individuals, from slaves to demon princes, helped advance technology and magic, and made himself useful and dear to many of the thrones in the world.

Now, his vampire count friend needs help to rescue his sister, kill his monstrous sire, and sit upon the throne of the Black Spire, far in the north.

Hi hi

Sorry I didint start earlier but my working eye was hurting so i was laying down.

Got so many exams done, and have to see the doctor on monday again to talk about what will finally happen

o.o?

Oh, unrelated, but I just found out that Hagure Yuusha no Estetica has a manga. I didint like the LN as much as the anime, but there's no rules to taste.

Link here http://bato.to/comic/_/comics/hagure-yuusha-no-estetica-r5477

The idea is that, since it is so common for people to be summoned/reborn/sliders into other worlds, save them and go back home, an actual school has been built for those youngsters that saved a world and came back home.

So its a school full of max level heroes. The story follows one in specific, who is lewd, base, but a pretty cool guy, really.

Anyway let's wait a little bit for someone else and we can start

Do we even have any plan on how to penetrate the defenses?
Are we getting there via airship or flying using our mounts?
>>
>>37243158
Well, I assumed a land trip on the centipede carriage since its a lot harder to spot than a flying ship, tho we'll probably go to Eopolis by treestride first since its relatively close.... no wait, we cant treestride the carriage... I guess we will have to go by rockit ship, then finish the last leg on the carriage
>>
>>37243158
take down the mana network, kill some things, save some people, take our research back go home call it a day.
>>
>>37243241
Wouldn't flying via dragons be faster an just as hard to spot?

Our dragon and Atruma are about the size of a Predator and Reaper drones, and those cant be seen by people on the ground when they're cruising.

Well, i think we can start now?

***
"Eldric, where are you going?" ~called Lyann as she started chasing after him
"We may still catch them!" ~he cried back

Asmund opened the window and called out for Eldric.

"Eldric, stop!" ~he calls out~ "They probably used treestride already. Father wouldn't be the type to fool around when there's faster methods available." ~he says as Eldric reaches the garden

Eldric takes a look at him, and when Lyann catches up with him, gently covers her eyes.

"Eldric, what is it?" ~she asks
"Ah, you don't want to see that"

Asmund's face is just that terrible right now.

A few minutes later, they're back in Asmund's room. The young count has calmed down a bit, and is busy packing as he thinks in how to reach Sbastia as quickly as possible.

"We should take a rockit ship to Eopolis and then use the enchanted carriage to reach Sbastia. The terrain is swampland, right? its many legs will be much better than hooves and wheels." ~says Okaba
"Can't we just treestride to Eopolis and take a rockit to Sbastia?" ~asks Lyann
"That could cause a huge diplimatic problem" ~says Okaba

>"Not if we succeed. Who would complain then, Asmund?" (daring)
>"We could treestride and then take a normal ship to Sbastia." (moderate)
>"Alright, let's go with Okaba's idea" (politically safer)

Finally I catch one of your threads! I just spent the last week catching up.

Reading the whole adventure at once made me notice some things that fell by the wayside that I would like to bring up again.

First, what happened to that ability to summon angels The Lady gave us when we restored her shrine by the beach? Have we been practicing that during skips, or are we ignoring it?

Are you not updating the pdf anymore? I haven't seen it posted in a few threads.

For a few threads there was discussion that one of our projects should be creating a sentient/sapient golem. Is that abandoned as well? I'd think we might be able to use one of the dungeon hearts to accomplish this; but I don't know if we've been practicing that type of skill in our downtime.

I'd like to put a reminder that when we turn 15, we have an obligation to return to our original village and restore The Lady's shrine. She said she would give up a gift on our 15th birthday, and that's something we need to do for her.

We were working on gunpowder for one post, but I haven't seen that mentioned since.

Time for opinions:
I've really enjoyed the quest so far, but I feel lately you've been rushing too hard. I think you yourself have realized this two threads back when you retconned those huge timeskips, but please take your time. I know you're a bit scared about your eyes going before the quest is done, but please don't let that be an excuse to let the story become sup-par. I liked the slow threads where we were tinkering with products we were making, or taking time to min-max things. I'd rather have an incomplete, but solid piece of writing than a rushed ending.

Personally, I'd like to try to find ways to portal back to our own world. Mainly to bring technology over to further our own research. A nice side project to have once we have wealth and privacy.

And I enjoy the concept of sapient golems, so I would like to see that happen sometime, if possible.

Thank you again for running this quest!

>terrible idea
Well, I'm not even sure if its possible. But when we're older and we have time, it would be a huge boon to our technological innovation of this world. It would also help serve as proof when it does eventually get dropped that, mentally, we're from another world.

Plus taking Mako and others on a date in a modern city is something that tickles my heart.
>>
>>37243726
It is very risky for starters.
It greatly increases the chance of our exposure from negligible to very likely, it would make it very likely for an invasion of our planet due to magical "terrorists".
Huge risk for minimal reward.
>>
>>37243795
It's likely impossible to boot. This world and ours work on fundamentally different physical laws. It'd be like going to a world where 2+2 really does equal 5 or something. You'd be extremely disoriented there at best, unable to exist there at worst.
>>
>>37243637
We havent used the angel job at all because it compels us to hunt demons, which dont exist in the setting right now so it would be a waste

I want to update it, but my eyes hurt so bad... sorry. I will try and update it when possible

The golem hasnt been mentioned again. Honestly I think its fine to leave some stuff for later.. As it is, we already have lots of projects and stuff going on.

Yup. Ive been thinking on what will that be exactly. Have two options atm but i like them both

It was decided guns wouldnt be that effective, so it was abandoned, at least for now. Lets add it to the list behind the self aware golem

Yeah, I decided we would go slow, too

I wonder if magic on earth would work? im thinking it may work, but magic would not recharge on earth, so only people with huge mote pools... I mean, mp, can go and return safely. *insert exalted cup size joke here* Other than that, I don't know... i mean, we didint get transported to another world, we got reborn into it. Physics dont quite work the same and the worlds have different rules for reality so it may be a bad idea to cross the streams?

That being said, I was thinking of a story where some elven refugees escape the hell of elven tribal wars by using a gate to flee to earth, and then have to adjust, Would it be a sector 9 situation? or would it be more like Alien Nation?

http://youtu.be/q9Y8-EF4qAU <-- alien nation

http://youtu.be/DyLUwOcR5pk <-- district 9

Well, the aliens in district 9 are basically cockroaches but what if they had been pretty elves?
>>
>>37243795
The way I'm imagining it happen is that we're older and we'll have much more power than we already do (dear god we're already OP as fuck). Given our accumulation of wealth, we'd be able to conduct research on it in private. As long as we don't brodcast it to the public, which I don't see why we would, it would be able to be kept for our own use. It'd be pretty safe that way.

Plus, how are people going to exploit something they don't even have a concept of? I'm pretty sure the concept of parallel worlds is something that no one in this setting has thought of. And if/when we create this method/device/mcguffin to travel back, I'm sure we'll be skilled enough at that point to create plenty of safeguards to keep Magical Terrorists out. If we even tell anybody.

But like >>37243827
said, it's probably impossible. I would still like Eldric to tinker with this idea in the future. It'd be a fun way to push our skill/knowledge of the arcane.

Anyway... you guys rolled pretty well, so, who are we taking along for this?

Honoria is up for a roadtrip. She's not especially fond of Asmund, but she IS friends with Dawn so she wants to help her friend.
Mako?
Ren? probably not. I sort of doubt it, for several reasons, don't you agree?
Stella? Zoe?
Okaba/Aura and Asmund are fairly obviously coming along.
Brass? he'd be happy to help us any time
Python? he likes punching bad guys
Are we inviting our cousin along? (picking him up in Eopolis)
>>
>>37243863
It would have turned out a lot better for them. Hot elven lovers would have become a thing. Hell, if they got the langauge down fast enough they could pass for humans in some areas. Hell, some people even get surgery to get elf-like ears.

And touching of elf ears, so much touching of elf ears would be happening.
>>
>>37243863
I'm glad you've decided to slow down a bit. Don't push yourself about updating the pdf if your eyes are hurting that much. And there's no rush on those projects I mentioned, I just wanted to make sure they weren't forgotten.

I like the idea of manapools on earth. It would be the thing keeping our use of magic in check if we ever went back. Thats if we can.

As for the elves, I think it would be a situation like district 9, or maybe a homestay situation if theres not a lot of them.
>>
>>37243950
Are we doing one party only? Assuming Lyann is coming along thats one more person we can bring.

I don't think Mako/our cousin/Honoria are good choices because it'd be a political nightmare to bring them with us. I'm thinking Brass as he would be a really good pure tank to use. However, this might be an all magical battle, so I'm not sure how effective he'd be. So then maybe someone with more magical focus. But I can't imagine who. Maybe mom? We've never been on an adventure with her, and it could be funny to have the bbeg scolded by our mother after his defeat.
>>
>>37243950

"You brought your mom!? that's just not cool, man!"

Well, IIRC at some point the idea was to make two parties, one going down to take out the mana grid under the city, one climbing the black spire to take out Asmund's dad (who if anyone cares, I haven't decided between calling Femto or Vries)
>>
>>37243950
Bring Lyann, Stella, Zoe, Brass, Python.
I assume we will bring Atruma and some of the adventurous Miel's.

As much as I would like to bring our cousin and Honoria, I don't want to deal with the precedent that Coalition members can regime change other members.

Maybe bring Mako and her shadows to help with the mana grid.

So, 1vote to bring Mako, 1 not to. Same with Honoria, it seems?

Oh right, we can probably insert Atroma and Miel into parties to get that multiracial party bonus that we havent gotten in a while.

That makes me wonder... theres like a thousand different beastmen tribes, would they count as different tribes, or the system just classifies them all as beastmen in general?

I was implying a false flag so they can land grab from a bunch of godless terrorists and install freedom and democracy for all.

So then we need two teams?

Ground Team:
Zoe
Stella
Brass
Mako
Honoria
Mom

Strike Team:
Eldric
Okaba
Asmund
Aura
Lyann
Python
Logic for this is for the strike team, we want lots of magic and people who know how to deal with Asmund's dad. Plus Okaba should be there to keep Asmund in check if he goes power crazy at last minute.

For the ground team; they want to cover as much ground as possible, so we want a lot of fast movers with them. But they need some serious magical support; hence mom (I can't think of anyone else whose heavy magic that can support the ground team that isn't in the strike team). I imagine the reason our mom wants to come is we made the charisma check, so she's somehting like this:

"So you want to topple an evil magical kingdom? Well, if its you I'm sure you can do it sweeite, but I need to be there just in case."

Leave our cousin out of this.

I'm not sure they would do so well. Once they got here it would be a case of "You came to the wrong neighborhood, motherfucker." But there is a risk involved, I agree. However, we've been keeping a huge secret for 12 years; I'm sure we could come back to our own world and use some discretion.

"Uhmm..." ~Brass frowns a little as Aura moves her knight into place.~ "Can I convince you to take that move back?"
"Don't be a sore loser" ~Python says while lying on his side and watching the game.

Ami, Aura, Brass and Python are riding on the roof and on top of the suitcases on the back of the centipede carriage while it crawls at full speed through the swamps north of Eopolis.

Rather, it would probably be more correct to say that it is swimming at high speed. And even if you call it a swamp, its more like a wetland. There's none of the life you would see in a real swamp.

It is simply a wasteland created by the magical pollution flowing out from Sbastia, causing the ground to sink and be invaded by sea water, creating an area flooded by salt water and wild magic where things can't live.

If you expected to see black lands full of much, however, I'm sorry to say that there's none of that.

Instead, it is more like a sea of bone white small islands surrounded by water.

Have you ever noticed how in some areas the sea is dark, and in others it is clear? the clear waters on tropical islands sure look pretty on a picture, but the reason they are so clear it's because they are mostly dead.

With no planctom in the water, they become clear. Thus, you could say that all those beautiful tropical islands surrounded by a clear green sea are like dots of life surrounded by a mostly dead sea.

Here, its the same. The white dunes and the clear water are really pretty to look at, but they are both dead and poisonous. The only things "living" here are spells run wild, having collected something similar to animal sentience, and monsters that have been deemed flawed and expelled from Sbastia's magical labs.

There is no way a road would survive here. Even the slightest hint of wind picks up the fine dunes and carries the poisonous sand around, so even if the roads weren't swallowed by the dunes, any beasts pulling a wagon would die in a few hours.

As for why they are riding on top, its because Aura said she wanted to feel the cleaner wind some distance from the floor.

Brass agreed, albeit the huge wolfman is just self aware of how uncomfortable it is to share a small cabin with his hairy and warm body.

Python has nothing to talk about with the prince, the count or Eldric, so he too wanted to go on the roof.

Ami and Mai simply said that they were on watch.

Honestly, it is not that small inside the carriage. It was meant to carry six people comfortably, so with just Asmund, Mako, Lyann, Okaba and Eldric, it feels quite ample. The problem is that they have to keep the curtains up closed and endure the stuffy air since the sand-loaded wind would get in if they didn't.

The carriage itself doesn't seems to mind. It simply walks or swims at full speed, climbing dunes and crossing small waters canals without letting its passengers notice.

"What is that?" ~asks Ami as she notices a small blast of sand reaching up into the air in the distance.

Python looks over, squinting his eyes.

"It doesn't look like a geyser. Some kind of monster?"

He knocks on the roof and shouts of what he's seen.

"It's probably some beast from the labs. There's too many of them around" ~says Asmund

All according to plan?

We make our way across the dead lands, and Asmund asks Okaba to steer the carriage towards the east. There is a large tunnel reaching under the labs, through which monsters are expelled into the dead lands.

The idea is to go in through that, reach the labs, and then split in two teams to take out the mana network as the strike team begins fighting his father, using the linked notebooks to communicate and time things.

The city is hard to describe. The wall surrounding all of it looks alive. Its black surface looks organic, rather than stones or bricks.

Asmund advises us not to think too much about it.

The entrance is where he said it would be, a gaping mouth of darkness under the city.

"Should we take the carriage? it could scare off smaller monsters" ~suggests Lyann

"If the ladies are done...?" ~asks Asmund
"Sure"
"Yes"
"Thank you for waiting"
"Alright. We can't use torches down here, there may be pockets of volatile gases, so remember to only use magic lights, and do not cast fire spells"

Well, a swarm of small flying monsters welcomes us as we go into the tunnel, but other than creeping out Mako, they do little else.

I guess screechy flying monsters are yucky in every world. Lyann seems fine, however.

"Lyann, are you alright?"
"..." ~shes saying something really softly
"What?"
"...."

Eldric leans over to hear her say...

"IdidnotseethattheyrenotonmyhairIdidnotseethattheyrenotonmyhair"

I guess she was creeped out too, after all. She's actually walking really stiffly. Well, she'll be alright. Probably

The sludge (calling it water its too generous) is almost a foot deep now. It is ... at least it doesn't smells like anything.

As we are moving forth, Brass quietly suggests we stop, and look at the roof.

The bodies of ... no, rather, the skeletons of various creatures are hanging from the roof. It looks like they are trapped in the same substance of the floor, glued to the walls or literally dripping from the roof.

What could have glued them to the roof like that, and what for?

They're not just human skeletons, there's also animals and strange beast bones in there.

Dozens... no, hndred of such skeletons, in either direction down the tunnel. They begin dripping from the roof all around and even directly on top of us, then rise to attack us.

Brass smashes one that was landing on top of Aura away, the sound of bones breaking and creaking is sickening.

The tunnel ground seems to come alive as the skeletons, dripping the ooze, get up and attack us!

sounds good.
>>
Ah, just the one thing, which job does Mako has on? archbishop or bard?

>>37246562

Well, unlike mom, we took mostly summoning reinforcement spell tricks, so we can't really kill a dozen or so monsters with a single spell.

Also, only Mako can also use chantless magic, so if we want to move quietly, we have to rely on just two casters while the rest do their best to fight them off quietly.

Honestly, its a major pain. These things are ugly, dirty, and look like getting even a single wound would lead to some horribly nasty infections.

I thought so too, but in the end it ended being Miel and Atroma. By the way, are we letting them out of our magic items to help us fight, or keeping them hidden for now, in case we are being watched anyway?

>>37246723

Ami mostly just stands still, ignoring the shambling masses of bones and ooze unless they somehow make it past everyone's ring, focusing on being a steady platform for her princess.

Well, these are just swarms of low level monsters. They're not particularly dangerous, but their numbers seem endless, and you can't really take them down unless you break the bones to the point where the skeletons become useless.

Brass is having an easy time, but he can't just rampage without filling the hallway with the sound of crushed bone. Aura is also having a surprisingly easy time, since she is smashing them with the edge of her brass shield.

Lyann is having troubles, however. Her sword whip does slashing and piercing damage, which doesn't seems to bother the ooze at all, and she has a hard time breaking bones other than the largest ones.

Okaba has the same problem. We didin't even knew the prince could use his scimitar. It always looked kind of decorative only.

Asmund.... is this guy a mage, or isint he? he's just grabbing them and ripping them apart, popping off the skulls and throwing them away, breaking their spines with his hands, and disassembling them as if they were mannequins.

2/?
>>
>>37247058

>>37247058
Well, it is a dirty and ugly fight, but we make it through and reach higher ground. The skeletons, or rather, the ooze containing them, seem unable to move into this area.

Far above us is a large, closed trap door through which they drop whatever failed experiment they are getting rid of.

"Alright, we fly up, blow that up, and then help you up as well, right?" ~says Aura

***

"Miel, please go take a look. If possible, try and open the gate quietly, but if that's impossible, just come back, alright?"
"Yes master" ~she says, energically.

She's probably pumped up about being in a real adventure instead of just another dungeon.

She flies up... well, bees aren't exactly stealthy, but it's bad for our nerves to hear the echo of the tunnel enhancing the buzzing of her wings.

How does she fly, anyway? it doesn't feels like it should be possible... well, I think there was something about how bees shouldnt fly back on earth, either. Defying all laws of aerodynamics or something like that

And then there's these two...

Eldric looks at Okaba and Aura. Aura looks back with a smile and a expression that says she wants to know what we are thinking about.

Miel makes it up, and finds a couple of rails on the floor, probably used to push/pull cages to the trap doors.

There's a lever nearby, but she goes back down when she spots 3 figures in full plate walking towards her.

"I think there's a patrol going around upstairs. I can open the gate, but we are likely to be spotted." ~she says

"How come she can call you master and you don't mind?" ~says Lyann with a small pout
"...she's basically a pet"
"Yes, me too!" ~says Atroma, with zero tension

This dragon is too relaxed. Why are all the girls around us this relaxed?

Aura chuckles.
"What is it?" ~asks her Okaba
"Take them from behind" ~she covers her mouth trying not to laugh
Okaba sighs

That girl, too, is too relaxed,

The trap door opens by degrees. Aura and Okaba fly upwards, and then throw down some ropes for us to climb.

"Atroma, why aren't you flying up?" ~asks Asmund
"I don't know how to"
"But you have wings..."
"I used to live in a single room, you know?"

This hikkikomori dragon... Asmund just sighs and swarms up like a bunch of bats. We asked him once why didint he fly with his vampire powers, right? guess he took it seriously

Mako is tied up safely into Ami's back, and the ninja just climbs the wall using climbing claws/gloves.

The room bove is quite ample, but it is obviously a garbage disposal room. Security is minimal. Those guys patrolling back and forth could be doing regular patrols, or just happened to be stretching their legs.

Well, for now, we ask Mai to go take a look at them and let us know if they come back, while we help Atroma and Ami up.

Atroma is just hanging from the rope, upside down. She looks like a cat being pulled up for whatever reason.

Really, this dragon has no tension.

Come think of it, we could have just summoned her up and saved us the pulling, but she's already here, anyway.

It's our fault because we don't really think of her as part of our menagerie, isn't it?

Anyway, we get ready. According to Asmund, we can reach the grid building on foot once we go up into the street, then the strike team will make its way to the spire, and we will coordinate our teams actions with the notebooks.

Mai comes back after a few minutes, and lets us know that the guards are returning.

We wait for the guards, and when they come into the room, a demon prince, a vampire, a dtagon, a faery, a princess, a slavegirl, a succubi, and two ninjas, beat the crap out of them.

No, seriously, there was an actual cloud of dust, like in the cartoons.

Well, we took their uniforms... and by we I mean Asmund, Ami and Eldric, because their armors don't come with wing slits... then lowered them into the passage and left them there.

One of the guards does approach us, but Asmund greets him and talks with him for a bit. Well, he's a local, so of course he knows the local mannerisms and what not.

He says we are important guests that they are escorting around, and to not bother us.

The guard seems sattisfied, and goes back to what he was doing.

Thus, we make it out of the garrison without a fight, and out into the street.

The streets are... sparkling clean. Not a single bit of dust or trash anywhere. They're actually paved with tar like a modern city, and the pedestrian walkways at either side are both wide and tall, at least a foot off the street level.

The people is dressed in a very similar style to Eopolis, with the men wearing full suits with fluffy sleeves and necks, and the women wearing wide and ornate dresses that accentuate the waist, many of them carrying purses or other such marks of the nobility.

(remember, no pockets or item boxes)

Both geners seem to favor high heels, albeit the women's are noticeably higher. You can't see a villager anywhere, let alone a slave.

The street signs are written, with barely any sporting an illustration like they would in other cities or towns, for the benefit of those who can't read.

(I dont remember the word in english, in spanish is analfabeta)

A passing noble takes his high hat off in greeting, and continues along his way, carrying a fine cane on his free hand while holding a gold clock with the other. He keeps looking at the clock as he walks with long strides, obviously late for something.

"Why are the streets black?" ~asks Mako while holdingMai's hand
"I... don't know, my princess"

A carriage pulled by two skeletal horses rolls by, the things trotting as one, their hooves making a mechanical sound as they pull the carriage behind them. Sitting on the driver's post is the first villager you've seen.

He looks slightly chubby, but healthy and well dressed.

The carriage's curtains are open, so you can see a fine lady inside, idly looking out in your general direction, if only for a moment.

After a while, you spot a shambling zombie... dressed in a white and grey suit, sweeping the streets and keeping them clean, going back up and down the street towards eternity with a bright "5" floating over its head.

Right, the poor and destitute's bodies often end up in service to the city.

The shops look well supplied and quite expensive, with an obvious preference towards serving spellcasters.

"Alright, let's take a carriage to the grid building" ~says Asmund as he gestures an idle coach driver.

Brass looks at the wandering zombie with scorn, while Python seems curious.

"What will happen to these when we take out the grid?" ~he asks
"They should just collapse in place"
"Uhmm"

Well, the coach its too small to carry both groups, but there's no need for that. We can send the ground group there while we go to the spire.

Thus, Mako, Ami, Mai, Brass, Python and Atroma go to "the water and power" building, while we go to the "government spire" together with Lyann, Okaba, Aura, Asmund and Miel.

Asmund scribbles in the notebook, sketching a simple map of the water and power building for the other group.

"It also goes down into the ground." ~says Asmund as he notices our expressions
"Uhm" ~Okaba looks at it for a bit~ "Does it use rockit to rise that high?"
"No, it is made out by magically created metal plates, entwined into eachother to create a mesh like fabric"

It would be funny if elves were unfamiliar with all technology. Even funnier would be an elf landing an IT job due to an affirmative action program (law requires it or maybe its just for tax breaks) and not having a single idea about computers, not even turn it off and on.
>>
>>37253843
oh and while it would be interesting to see conflict arise from sudden overpopulation a KKK twist seems a little hamfisted. In general if a population has too many refugees ( or the people keep swording the metal dragons/ cars) conflict is inevitable without the racist bent. A good plot element to have to move elves from camps into protagonist's house would be super cold (well for them anyway) winter many american towns are having. It seems not too bad from my perspective in northern alberta, but then again if we didn't have snow plows and other such things (which logically you wouldn't have if snow was never a factor before) we'd have a tough time of it here too.
>>
>>37254028
Alright so no KKK.

As for titles...

"My new stay home guest is from another world!"

Sorry not really familiar with how you would word it in english so need your help with it

I like the new girl but she's not from around here

I like the new girl but she's from another world

or would it be better from a refugee point of view?

These jeans and boots beat the crao out of my old duds

Everyone wants to touch my pointy ears!

"How did humans change so much in 3000 years?"

The idea there is that these elves are actually interdimensional nomads, and it is simply part of their regular travels to switch between earth and the other world every few thousand years.

"My new jeans are awesome"
>>
>>37254259
What might be hilarious is elves trying to do large scale spell to travel to paradise and then ending up in a field somewhere. A police officer would investigate and when they challenged him with their champion for the right to rule the land the cop, who doesn't understand their language, would just tase him and then these fantasy elves would try to fit in to society, and be completely bewildered by these humans and their amazing technologies.
>>
>>37254427
Also all the titles are good, I like the manga naming style.
>>
>>37254427
>just tase him

that must be a very nice town. Where I live, the cops would shoot anyone wielding a stick at them, let along a magic sword or a spear or whatever

But yeah, that does sound nice.

Help with the title? and what do you think would be funnier, the story from a male human or a female elf point of view?

More titles:

"My cute next door neighbor is from a parallel world!"
"I like a girl from another world!"
"My life with elf"

"I crossed into another world and all I got was this shirt"
"Everyone wants to feel my ears, but im not that kind of elf!"

>>37254512
I like the Male human perspective although its very easy, and probably humorous, to shift perspectives to the elves at random times (he just did what to what!). One funny title could be And then Elves Happened. As for the police I think they would be so bewildered by the elves that the normal tension in a confrontation would be replaced by bewilderment. It would be hilarious if the cop came across them by running into a unicorn or the champions mount or something on the road, a total wtf moment.

One thing to remember, is how many area there coming over?

A country like the US could absorb like 100-200k of them pretty easily, especially if they are spread out all across different states.

Even easier if they have a work ethic + a will to learn.

Magic, I guess. Maybe they can use magic but on earth their MP reloads super slowly, so an average elf goes from empty to full in like 2 years on earth while on another world it takes a couple of days.

Or maybe it recharges super slowly on urban areas, but if they were living in say, a national park, it would be faster? so the government tries to locate them into small towns whenever possible.

Healing magic would be super useful. Hell, I'd love a healing spell to the eyes.

>Human-san what does this button do? (pointing to microwave)

I really want to avoid the -san. And nothing while the door is open.

This is another image I could use for the OP banner. I only had to flip it horizontally and cut it a little.

Oh yeah, I know the US could like absorb another few million easily

A few hundred thousand would get lost in the noise, which would be a good idea.

After all, there are over 41million immigrants in the US currently.

There are hundreds or more of US cities with a pop of 20k or more. An elf population that moved in of about 100-200 would not be hard to fit in there.
>>
>>37254949
Not from the US, but can and want to handle are two different things. Millions could be taken but integrating a people group who might not understand a ton of basic concepts we take for granted (don't run across the street or play with power lines) plus people can be resentful, if the recent opposition to integrating illegal central american immigrants is any indication. Of course if you could magic away cancer or something the general population would be more accepting.
>>
>>37255021
I think several tribes (lets say 11 all over USA?) would work, each about as big as maybe a thousand individuals.

Which part of the US used to have the most forests? their ancient migration routes may have referred them there.
>>
>>37255075
Oh god i can't wait til they find the bows...
"And human's made these!?!"
>>
>>37255016
how about when they come over into our world they have magic leak out witch slowly brings it back to the world.

>>37255071
i see were you coming from and you make a good point

>>37255075
depends on the tribe and what there looking for we have like ever type know.
>>
>>37255123
what do you mean? composite bows?

Lets see... it would make more sense if they popped all over the world, but I would just feel SO bad for the poor fuckers popping in Africa, for example.

I think its better if its just a very small population, like 11k TOTAL just in the US

Which pic did you like the most? which title?
>>
>>37255198
Yep composite bows
>>
>>37255075
maybe more than a thousand per tribe, it would have a more interesting impact on society if there were enough to be at least above 0.1% of the population.
>>
>>37255075

Take your pick.

What do they want as the weather really?

Alaska of course has the largest forests. Washington and Oregon have a lot of forest. So does California. The whole North East US has a lot of forest. Even a lot of small town US has a lot of city/town owned land that is not used or lightly managed.

And a lot of other states have a lot of open land that is sparsely settled. The plains states have a lot of open land.

Also, if they brought any material goods, or trade goods at all, it could be worth a fortune on the open market or any auction house.
>>
>>37255222
That would have a much more hostile reaction
>>
>>37255198
I liked the second pic better but thought the first pic made a better title pic.
>>
>>37255198
i like the first one for the tittle just slightly more then the second.

I think you are thinking of Compound Bows will all the pullies. Composite they would be familiar with.

So like at least 400k?
>>
>>37255275
Yeah that sounds good. 400k sounds like alot but spread out isn't that many people, especially for a whole race.

I think its too many, honestly. Maybe 200k, tops.

Alright, let's see...

1) They bring magic back with them
2) Adding magic to steel manufacturing = mithril?
3) Healing spells are a thing, but their mp recovers really slowly on earth, at least until the magic level worldwide goes up
4) They are assigned to mostly rural areas.

I think it can go one of two routes
Completely from day one. A young sheriff suddenly has 2000 or so strangers pop up in Breadbasket town USA and has to deal with them.

or

About 10 years ago, the newcomers started popping all over oregon and california. Now they are integrated into society, but they are still a ultra minority group. A former army officer and his adopted elf daughter move into breadbasket town USA. He is finally living his dream and trying to own a farm (ranch?) and she is helping him or maybe working as a nurse in the town clinic. She and the young local sheriff start a relationship.

What sounds more interesting to you?

The empty space is to paste posts from people in the thread, I think.

Honestly didint want to cover her face with the title

i say day one since it gives more moments of cultural clash then the 10 years.

Not bad, but a small town, they might only have 100-500 move in likely.

Of course a lot of them would be just adapting culture wise.

If they bring magic they will of course be in demand and can get good jobs.

Cure cancer?
Cure Aids?
Improve Crop yields?
Magic/Material R&D to finally get room temp super conductors?

A lot of them could even sell 'Elven Craft' stuff to suckers and make money.

See them trying to adapt to modern power tools when they are used to doing everything by hand.

See them walk into a Super Walmart and see all the STUFF there is.

Lumber yard where there is a ton of wood available in different cuts.

alright, so instead of a tiny town, just a small city?

I like the idea of making him a cop, a very straight lace, honest, brand new cop. It just seems to scream "stiff" you know?

helps create contrast with the free spirit elf

Jesus christ on a bike! its HARD to find a cop thats usable for this pic!

Well, applying eyedrop #1. in 10 minutes ill use the other and go to bed so any comments make them now

Small citys range in the US make sure to define the population cause 50K-100K is what classifies as a small city in the US.
>>
>>37256314

US city populations is weird for a lot of people.

And that is because of how spread out cities are

A small town in say, NJ might have 10-20k people, over 2000 square miles. (a 40mile by 50 mile area). Most of the population would be in suburban of a few hundred homes developements with a lot of unused land between them.

Might have 20-40 police officers too really.

You can have a small town of like 2000 people, say a mining town, absorb like a dozen families, 50ish elves, and have a 5 man police department.
