"Aw. Well, damn." Dani gives an exaggerated eye-roll, sighing and wistfully looking into the distance. "I could really go for something delicious right now: those crepes just whet my appetite! Girl's gotta eat, ya know!"

"Oh? Oh, okay. I see." You laugh, kneeling down and giving her a light knuckle-rub to the head. "Well that's fine, close your eyes and open your mouth and I'll give you something!"

Dani blushes a bit at that, causing you to review your statement; you blush a bit too before coughing. Mittens starts laughing, rolling about in the grass and kicking her legs. "L-look, just... uh. Just close your eyes, damn it!" You're not angry, just flustered. You and Dani both laugh, your girlfriend closing her eyes as requested.

You take out a container ball and quickly release a small piece of chocolate and the Hawlucha man figure you purchased with "Wrestling action and a slam-able chair!" You unwrap the chocolate and delicately put it in Dani's waiting mouth: it lights upon her tongue, the corner slipping between her lips. Her eyebrows light up at the taste and she moves her tongue up and out, maneuvering the chocolate further in her mouth. A moment later and you've pushed it all the way in, the sugary delight barely fitting in her mouth.

Dani puts a hand to her mouth, tongue moving in order to savor the taste and manage the surprise you've given her. A moment later and she swallows with aan audible gulp, laughing and opening her eyes.

"I thought you said it wasn't food!"

"Yeah, but then you complained." You bop her nose, laughing with her. "That wasn't the surprise... this is!"

"Uh, well..." Dani's face is happy, expectant, loving, and excited. You love that she is, for the most part, very open and readable with her emotions. Her heart's on her sleeve, as it were, and her heart has a lot of room for you. You smile at her. "If you really want to give something to me now you can, Dani. But, hey, we still have a whole night together: you can wait. Maybe give it to me after the wrestling match?"

It's like seeing a light bulb flick on. "Wrestling match?!"

You laugh. "Yeah, I saw a couple posters for it, looked it up online... It's over by the boardwalk. They're doing shows right now since it's a Sort week. Wanna go?"

"Of-fucking-course-I-wanna-go! When is it? Right now?" She holds the boxed figure up to her face, looking over the details and features with pure joy. "Can I bring Hawluchaman?"

You and Mittens laugh and giggle. "Of course you can, Dani. Uh, lemme look it up..." You flip through your history and find the site on the wrestling performances. There's one in an hour and a half. "We have time to do other stuff, ya know. They have later showings, yeah?"

"Yeah, but I need to break in my new toy! I need me some lucha!" You both laugh.

You give a fond smile. "Alright, next showing it is. We better head for a bus or the train if we're going to make it." You help Dani and Mittens up off the ground, brushing off before heading towards the street. "I'm really glad you like your gift so much, it means a lot to me."

Dani reaches up, pulling you a bit closer so she can close the gap and kiss you on the lips; it's sweet, soft. "You mean a lot to me, Grey. You're so sweet."

Mittens can't help but snuggle into your embrace, trying to get in on the love sandwich. You ruffle her hair and Dani bends down to give her a peck on the cheek.

Dani leads the way, half dragging you out of the bus and half proving to be a pain as she stops in front of you every few seconds to look at the crowds and merchandise. Eventually, however, you are able to make your way towards the front of the venue and buy your tickets. Sortie discount, thankfully, so you don't have to break the bank. You debate on whether or not to buy Mittens a ticket; you could easily sneak her in, but it's numbered seats only...

Regardless, your little Starter has set her sights on getting her face-painted. Between Mittens pulling you towards the face-painting booth and Dani pulling you towards the autograph signing you doubt you'll make the match timely or in one piece. Hawluchaman have mercy on you.

You give Dani a shout, asking her to "wait a second, please? Mittens wants her face-painted." She turns to you, looking a bit ashamed of herself and nodding meekly. You sigh, turning to your favorite purple midget.

"Mittens is no midget, Grey!" She turns to you, puffing out her chest and trying to stand on her tippy-toes. "I'm a big girl, just like you!"

You laugh. "I'm a big girl, Mittens? I thought I was a boy?" She opens her mouth at that, throwing her paws to her face and mewling in dismay. You ruffle her fur and laugh harder.

"Nonono, Mittens mean... Mittens mean I'm big like you!" She mentally sighs, rolling her eyes, and crosses her arms. "Gosh, Grey. You... you are such a dork!"

You're taken aback but still laughing. It's hard to be mad or offended by such a cute cat. "And who told you that?" Mittens points to Dani, and you nod knowingly.

"Well you're definitely not getting your face painted now!" Her face and ears fall at that, the Espurr slumping over sadly. "Aw, it's alright. Maybe some other time: it'll get stuck in your fur, anyways. Besides, you can always wear your pirate hat!" Thankfully, Mittens brightens at this. You bring out the hat and set it on her head, between her ears.

"Come on, girls. Let's head inside, alright?" You're shouldered aside by a black-shirt-wearing neckbeard wearing two foam fingers. "This crowd is driving me NUTS!"

Dani offers a weak protest which you barely hear. You smack your head. "Oh, of course! Let's get an autograph first!" And you do so, after a few minutes of standing between sweaty, noisy, very excited wrestling fans. As they say: love the sport, hate the fans.

Dani now clutches her brand-new figurine and a tiny, signed poster of El Lombre Hombre as the three of you head inside. As an apology to Mittens you bought her a ticket and some popcorn, which she greedily clings to while eyeing anyone that comes close to it (other than you or Dani).

The lights dim and traditional Lucha music starts up.

You watch as the portly, brightly-dressed mustachioed man throws off his suit and shirt to reveal a tattoo'd, rippling body. He flexes before proceeding to beat on his stomach while shouting "LUDILUDILUDILUDILUDICOLOOOOOO!" The crowd and, you note, Mittens and Dani all join in.

The crowd goes while as two...

"Dani?" Your girlfriend stops mid-cheer to look at you. "Are they.. uh... midgets?" She nods excitedly.

"They're awesome! So funny! The one in red is Plusle, the blue is Minun. Just watch for their Helping Hand!"

The two new wrestlers do a bit of a synchronized dance down the entryway, eventually coming to stop before El Lombre Hombre. Then, Plusle pulls Minun onto his shoulders so that the blue-bastard can reach Hombre's face for a light smack. The Luchador just growls and flexes at the two who act frightened and run away comically, Plusle running into a table and flipping backwards.

"Is this, uh... what they meant by David and Goliath?"

Dani just shrugs before going back to cheering and screaming.

You and Dani are laughing, Mittens chuckling through a mouth full of popcorn, when the lights all go out. The crowd goes quiet for a bit. Silence, and then a song starts up: drums and cymbals beating, a trill, and then it explodes into trumpets. The lights come back up, a spotlight on a black-hooded, burly man standing front and center. The crowd goes NUTS. You swear one particularly-sweaty guy faints nearby, and a trio of women start throwing...

"I thought people only threw underwear in moves?" You're dumbfounded. "Dani, please tell me you don't..."

"What?" She acts very surprised. You're not sure if it's an act. "Me? No! Never! Fuck that!" Nervous laughter before she goes back to cheering.

>Jim: "And he's back, John! The Dark One! The Champ! The King in Black! UMMMMM-BRAWN!"

The wrestler throws back his hood, raising his arms and shouting to the crowd. He grabs a nearby mic and starts singing along with the lyrics to his theme song before pointing to the wrestlers already at the ring. "You's about ta get smacked by a DARK-type, HOMES!"

The crowd erupts once more, popcorn and foam fingers flowing about in a tidal-wave of fandom.

El Hombre Lombre motions for silence, pulling a mic out of... somewhere. "Claro, pero... Yo soy... Un tipo LUCHA!" It's quiet. You get a sense from the tension that these two wrestlers may have some sort of history. "BITCH-O!"

The crowd goes nuts again. You're slightly tired of clapping and screaming at this point. You're pretty sure "bitch-o" isn't Spanish whatsoever.

Four other wrestlers take to the floor: BloodRanger, PanChampion, The Dragon, and the headliner:

DuskTaker.

You wondered if the crowd could get any more excited. And, well, they delivered: all seven wrestlers climbed into the ring. You wondered where the eighth was, asking Dani. She just shook her head and shushes you, eyes glued to the ring. You sat back and watch, the silence only being broken by Mittens's crunching.

Eventually, the crowd started chanting. You couldn't make it out at first, but eventually you got it: Dusk. Taker. Dusk Taker.

The lights dimmed once more and the music cut, the soundtrack switching to an eerie, dull roar. Smoke filled the ring from above and below.

"What the fuck...?"

Dani shushed you again.

A cage descended by wire along with a black coffin. The coffin was kicked open: the smoke cleared, revealing a slender woman dressed in black and brown with a visor flashing an eerie red light. You have to admit, it was one hell of an entrance.

The referee goes over the ring before slipping under the cage and locking it. He left a chair in the middle of the ring. It's eerily quiet, all 8 wrestlers standing in a circle, just staring at each other.

The crowd cheers and whoops around you, a sea of adoration and cheap face-paint. None of the wrestlers have moved yet, and all eyes seem to be on DuskTaker.

"How the hell can she stand up to these guys, Dani...?" Dani quirks an eyebrow at you before turning back to the ring. "DuskTaker? Not, uh, not because she's a woman: she's so slim! They're huge! I'd get crushed too!"

Dani just punches your knee. "Just shut up and watch, Grey!"

You laugh a bit before tickling at her side. "What'd-you-just-say-to-me!?"

She starts laughing, fighting off your hand and trying to tickle you in return. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding! But seriously, watch babe! She's so cool!"

You do. The big screen focuses on DuskTaker's face; you can see a tiny mic wrapped around her face.

"Good luck hitting a ghost type, boys!"

That gets the fight started. El Hombre Lombre smacks his chest and roars, charging at Umbrawn. Plusle turns to El Dragon and headbutts him in the crotch while Minun uses the chair to jump up and onto PanChampion's back. BloodRanger tries to lasso DuskTaker: the rope goes around her, and he pulls, but it goes right through her!

"What the hell!?" You cheer, leaning forward on your seat.

Dani's too busy cheering and shouting "USE THE CHAIR!" to notice you. You look to Mittens, as if the little psychic has an answer, and she's busy chewing on more popcorn. You reach for the bucket, hoping to get a bite, but the purple monster just flinches away with the bucket.

"Mittens! I can't have even a bite?" You plead, a little peeved she won't share. "Please?"

And then she gives you the most sad, adorable stare everohmygosh-so-cute!

"Fine. You win this time. Enjoy your popcorn!" She grins and goes back to shoveling it into her mouth.

You look back to the ring, and... There! Out of the fog erupts a leather-clad form: DuskTaker! She leaps out of the fog they poured onto the ring, legs shooting out and hitting Dragon square in the chest. He backs up, tripping over Minun who knelt down behind him. Plusle comes up and sits on his face, giggling before standing back up and dropping an elbow.

"LUCHA!" You shout, aiming to give strength to your champion. "Use the LUCHA, HOMBRE!"

Umbrawn throws Hombre Lombre into the center of the ring. The luchador spins about, dazed, before sloppily falling into the chair. Umbrawn advances on him, hands in the air. You're on pins and needles: is this the end of Hombre Lombre?

>John: "Things aren't looking good for him, Jim! I think this Tex-Mex is gonna be a Tex-Mess!"

Things are looking bad until... Boom! Hombre Lombre steadies himself, grabbing the chair and slamming it over Umbrawn's head! You cheer and whoop.

Hombre Lombre celebrates for a moment, crying out and flexing to the crowd. You match his call, as does Mittens. Dani laughs at you, rolling her eyes before belly drumming herself. You're glad she's having fun; you are too.

DuskTaker manages to slip past Die-Electric's double-team before pile-driving Minun. You're silently cursing her when Hombre Lombre comes up behind her, nailing her with the chair.

"Yo soy SCRAPPY!"

"YEAHHHH!" You might lose your voice tomorrow, but it's worth it.

The final moments come down to Hombre Lombre and DuskTaker on opposite sides of the ring, both panting. They nod, acknowledging that one last blow will decide things.The fog has long since dissipated, and you note that DuskTaker's ghostly abilities seem to have ceased with that. You're still not sure how, but she was doing SOMETHING to trick the other wrestlers (along with you).

DuskTaker stands up, cracking her knuckles, before screaming and running at Hombre Lombre. He, too, starts screaming. He takes off from the ropes, running down the slender, frightening woman. They cross paths, Hombre Lombre ducking under a blow and careening into the ropes on the far side. DuskTaker also turns, bouncing off the ropes and back towards the LUCHA.

This time, however? This time there's no ducking or dodging. Hombre Lombre leaps, twisting into a horizontal position. DuskTaker tries to stop, but can't switch her momentum in time: belly meets face, chest, arms... Hombre Lombre is, what, twice her size? He hits her like a truck!

She's down on the mat. The refs count, the Ghostly woman trapped underneath the tan mass of muscle and manliness.Pin and win! Hombre Lombre is the winner!

You and Dani stand, applauding and cheering. Mittens spills her bucket over when she, too, clambers to her feet. It was a long match, but a good one. You had a great time.

Outside the venue, Dani is hanging on your arm, chatting up the event and how much fun it was. "Nobody's ever taken me to a wrestling match before, let alone an 8-man cage! Thank you so much, Grey!"

Mittens just waddles along, quietly, grumbling about an upset tummy.

"Did you have a favorite part, Grey?"

Dani snorts at that, covering up her mouth and looking around, embarrassed. "Grey! I..." More laughter. "Can't believe you just said that! But, uh..." She smiles deviously. "That was my favorite part too!"

The rest of the night proceeds as more of a "typical" date, with the two of you walking alone together, alone, often holding hands and sharing quick kisses. You explore the boardwalk, enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells.

Cotton candy, candied fruits, sweet popcorn. You note that beyond exploring Southern Shores there's a whole culinary world to show Dani: you're not well-versed yourself, really, but she had never tried a corn dog before!

You moved from place to place, spirits light and movements breezy: never staying in one place long, laughing and loving your little adventure together. The place that finally got some hooks in you was the arcade, which Dani insisted on jumping into so that you could win her some prizes. Thankfully, your arm didn't fail you and Dani walked out with a large Cosplay Pikachu under her arm.

You settled on a seafood restaurant for dinner, not opting for reviews and the internet this time but on your senses: the outside appearance was tidy yet exotic, and the smells promised spices, flavor, and excitement. It was a sort of traditional seafood-meets Islander-meets Gulf place, with cornbread next to sweet-chili-sauce fried shrimp and a sort of coconut-laced grain dish on the side.You and Dani indulged, sharing bites and dipping different dishes in the wide variety of sauces. Dani got an awesome curry chicken as her entree; one serving wasn't enough for you!

Getting Dani to the Ferris Wheel while hiding your intent was hard, but not impossible. You snaked your way there, pointing out different points of interest or drawing her attention back to wrestling when she seemed to focus on the Wheel too long. Eventually, though, you were able to sneak away and buy a couple tickets while she tried her hand at a Lotad-and-rings stall. Dani seemed to worry at the loss of you, and you noted with a tinge of guilt (but happiness) that she immediately started looking for you and dialing your number. It's nice, yet sad, that you can make someone miss you. You didn't know much about being missed before Dani.

"You ready for the grand finale?" Dani starts, your voice shocking her from behind. She turns, relieved.

"Where were you, dork?" You hug, and Dani laughs before punching your arm. "You scared me!"

"I was getting these!" You flash the tickets. "Come on, we have a date with a Ferris Wheel!"

Dani seems excited enough, and so you ascend...

The Wheel's huge, one of the largest you've ever seen. The cool breeze that high up just encourages snuggling even more, though, so you have no complaints. The cars are sturdy and well-enclosing. The stars and waterside provide a beautiful backdrop.

"Want to exchange gifts now?"

"Sure, handsome!" Dani smiles and pulls off her container. A flash of light later and a small box is in her hands. You take it, open up, and are met with a pleasant surprise:

More kisses, hugs, and lots of reminiscing about Siegeball. You never played, really, just a couple pick-up games when you found a game short of a player. Even then, it's hard to be good without cooperation, and you weren't much for communicating with the other kids. Part of it was emotional scars on your part, part of it was many kids not liking your reputation.

The Ferris Wheel had set to spinning again when you remembered your gift. "Dani!" She looks away from the view of the boardwalk, content smile on her face. "It's my turn to give you something, alright? A, uh, a bear helped me pick it out!"

"... What?"

You laugh. Dani's expression is certainly one of bewilderment. "I'll explain soon. Close your eyes again: I like surprising you." You pull out the two jewelry boxes, putting the one for Dani closest to her. "Alright, you can open your eyes now!"

She does, and she smiles at the boxes. She opesn them carefully, fingertips tracing the edges and trim of the boxes with great love and reverence. Her eyes dart between the boxes and your face, her mouth done in a content-yet-excited pucker. "You... really didn't have to, Grey." She kisses you. "Thank you; thank you so much, babe..."

She opens the first box. Her eyes go wide. "Oh my gosh, Grey! It's so beautiful...! This is for me?"

"Open the other one. It's for, uh, for us. To share."

She does so, and you'd like to bottle up that smile, that light that just fills up her face and makes you feel like you're burning with love. You wish you could hold it forever. "Grey, this... this is so cool! So beautiful!" Tearful laughs, "Thank you!"

She's crying! Uh, and now she's tackling you.

There's only one way to get over that fear, and that is to write.

Look, there have been numerous quests that don't have large updates and are very successful. The key is to care and to try. Think about it. Try to be smarter than the game you're playing.

If you have character creation, make it short unless you're really confident. If you don't want futa votes out the butthole, kindly state that you won't be running a futa MC.

Have characters in mind, and make them different but realistic. It's going to suck writing if you don't have things going on to write about. I'm here... what, 10 hours out of the day every day. Ask for help if you need it (on twitter or in plug.dj).

You're probably going to have to offer a sacrificial lamb before you write a quest you love. Do a one-shot, let it die, and learn from it. Or just go with the Pokemon quest and be strong. Who's going to stop you? The worst that can happen is few people will play.

Personally, that's a LONG time coming for this quest in particular.

I don't think we need to worry about it now; my initial idea is to have players vote on it or just run the nationals in each quest separately, with different "results" playing out in each. So, basically, no one true canon: multiple routes.

Part of the reason SS runs its sort in the Spring and Winter is because the US is plagued by Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno.

These birds aren't Pokemon to be caught: they are forces of nature. Destruction. Death.

Zapdos brings hurricanes to the East coast, Moltres brings firestorms from the West inwards, and Articuno descends from the north bringing winter storms.

That's just the way things work.
