Lets do this!
>>
>>37224061

Some days you question the wisdom of getting a security sector job.
You're a bright guy; you could've done anything you wanted, and your biotics are a nice plus to all that. But no, you had to join the Alliance and even get N7 qualification, and even after that you had to go to work with a security company.

And what has it all gotten you?
Now you do things like fight huge semi-metal mutant goop corpse killing machines."

Kal'Reegar stares at the swiftly growing monstrosity, reloading his Vindicator rifle. "So uh...what the hell do we do?"

Get comms to our ship. Tell them to prep the main weapons, get ready to blow this ship apart. Have the soldiers start ferrying civvies onto the shuttle. We might be able to set up a couple of blockades via blast doors, delay it long enough for multiple shuttle trips.

"We need to fall back!" you say, pumping out a slug from your Crusader into the thing, the warp-slug tearing through the flesh and bone and whatever the hell else it's made out of now.

Captain Garm fires a shot from his massive krogan-made shotgun into the monstrosity as well, falling back as he does so. "Agreed! Whatever this thing is we don't have the tactical knowledge necessary to engage it!"

The ECRS soldiers open fire with their M-8 Avengers, but slowly begin to fall back, trying to keep it suppressed.
You're not sure how well the tactic is working; you're clearly damaging it's body, but you aren't sure how much of it's body of it is really critical for it's existence at this point.

"Warp on my mark!" you shoot suddenly, taking your left hand off the Crusader and activating your biotics.

"MARK!" you shout, throwing your hand forward just as Aeson and Garm do, sending a trio of spatial distortion blasts into the creature, tearing it apart with rapid fluctuations of gravity and mass!

THAT seems to slow it down a bit, and you fire one last slug for good measure before turning and running!

"Go! Go! Get back to the Hammerhead!" you shout, tapping a panicked soldier on the shoulder as you pass buy him, stopping him from firing wildly at the thing and snapping him back into reality!

Aeson and Kal'Reegar are behind you, and from the heavy thumping sound you're guessing so is the Captain!
>>
>>37224432

You keep running, and as you move around one of the massive storage creates you see one of the ECRS troopers get snagged by the thing, a massive arm-like tendril grabbing him and tossing him like a ragdoll into the crate ahead of you, killing him instantly!

"Shit!" you mutter, watching as the swiftly-growing thing shambles and pulls itself after you like some kind of obscene slug.

Long story short, we stopped a pirate attack on a ship that turned out to be smuggling the nanite paste that Dragon's Teeth pump into corpses to make husks. Then some idiot damaged the canisters containing it. Now we've got pure unadulterated Reaper goo coming after us.

You hoof it even faster now, desperately looking for something to slow it down!

"Grenades?!" you ask as you vault over a guard rail and slide under a low-hanging crate.

"Nope!" Reegar says.

"On an infil mission?" Aeson asks.

"Used mine!" the Captain admits.

You roll your eyes and look for alternative methods, and see one; a massive cargo container being suspended by a lifting crane, obviously in the process of being moved when the Blue Suns boarded the ship.

"Kal!" you say, pointing at the crane, and the red-suited Quarian immediately begins fiddling with his omnitool, and the crane partially lets go!

"Dammit, still isn't working! We left it up there when-"

He says, but you run past him, turn, and begin to concentrate, dark energy flaring around your body as you pull down with all of your might and RIP the crate off the lifter by amplifying it's mass!

"Chew on this," you mutter as the multi-ton storage container finally gives away, slamming loudly to the ground right on top of it and sending shrapnel everywhere, forcing you to duck as secondary explosions tear through the crate and begin blasting apart the surrounding area!

"What the HELL!" you shout, staggering to your feet and running.

"Fuel cells, you set them off!" the Quarian says, running past you.

>>

"What the hell kind of fuel cells BLOW UP when they get dropped?!" you shout over subsequent explosions as you run out of the massive cargo hold.

"The Batarian kind, damn four-eyes can't make anything right!" Reegar explains.

You rush into the hallway leading to the airlock and then shut the door, manually sealing it shut!

"That won't hold long," Aeson notes, and you just respond with a nod as you hear more explosions tear through the cargo hold.

"Neither will the ship it sounds like," Reegar notes as you head towards the airlock.

You all step inside and begin loading up onto the Hammerhead, hurrying in case the ship decides to split in half.

Then there's a loud BANG at the airlock door.

"Did we leave someone?" Aeson asks.

A second BANG hits the door, and it deforms slightly from the impact.

"I....don't think so....we should-," you begin to say, backing away towards the Hammerhead when a third BANG warps the door enough to allow a huge metallic tendril to snake through!

"SHIT!" Reegar says in surprise, hopping backwards onto the shuttle as you draw your monosword and Biotic Slash at the thing, severing the huge tentacle with one glowing stroke!

You turn and leap into the Hammerhead as it takes off as a fourth BANG bursts open the airlock just as the ship takes off!

The Hammerhead pulls away, and you glare out the viewport as the weird creature flails in the swiftly-shrinking airlock and more explosions blossom along the SS Anubis.

"That went well I think," Garm says confidently, causing EVERYONE to look at him in surprise.
>>

You arrive back on the Firewalker's cargo hold, and stagger out of the Hanmerhead alongside the others.

"You ECRS boys sure know how to throw a party," Kal'Reegar admits.

"Yeah? You're not half bad yourself," you compliment, taking off your helmet.

"Seeing as you blew up my previous place of employment, I don't suppose I could catch a lift to the next planet over?" he asks.

Garm speaks up.
"In fact I was about to discuss with you future employment opportunities in private security, Mister Reegar. You showed a great degree of aptitude back on the Anubis."

"Like I told Logan, the Migrant Fleet trains it's marines pretty damn well," he says modestly.

They walk off, talking to you what sounds like some kind of contract negotiation, while you sit down, panting.

"You alright Sir?" one of the ECRS troopers asks.

"Yeah...just...a lot of shooting an biotics in the last hour and half. Wears you down pretty fast, and I didn't get many calories put into me before I jumped over to the Anubis."

You head up the elevator to the mess and grab yourself something to snack on, one of those flavored energy bar things.

"Fruity Oaty Bars, make a man out of a mouse, dum dum dum dum....," you sing, remembering the ridiculous little theme song on the brand's commercial as you tear off the wrapper and bite into it.

"Hi Doc," you say, walking into the infirmary.

"Oh! Lieutenant!" she say with a smile, pushing back her hair. You wonder if it's ACTUALLY red; red hair is pretty uncommon these days.

"Jack is fine Doc, it's not like we're a military vessel," you explain.

"Then you must call me Chloe," she says with a smile.

"Could use a checkup," you say, sitting on the patient bed.

"I'd heard you were uninjured though?"

"Yeah, but I'm exhausted. More then I should be," you say, shaking your head. You have a headache too.

"Alright, lie down; I'll run a diagnostic," she says, turning her chair to the computer console.

"Not gonna make me take off my shirt first?" you say with a smirk.

"Not unless you feel the need again," she says, smiling back.

"No, I'm good. Any serious injuries on the team?"

"Minor gunshot wounds, blunt trauma and bruising, some burns. Nothing serious or fatal. Medigel will heal most of it," she admits, tapping a few buttons and letting the machine begin scanning you.

"Good. We lost one down there and I didn't want to loose more,"

"Most of the injuries were the Captain's, but he seemed untroubled by them," she notes.

"Krogan are tough as hell," you say with a shrug.

"Indeed. Is it true we have a Quarian aboard?" she asks.

"Yeah, Kal'Reegar. Good soldier. I think Garm is drawing up an employment contract with him right now."

"I 'ave 'eard he is very handsome," she says with a smile.

You raise an eyebrow.
"Uuuh...couldn't tell ya Doc. He was wearing his environment suit the whole time," you note.

"One of the marines, Danielle, said he had wonderfully broad shoulders," she explains.

"And just like that he's attractive?"

"How different is zat from men deciding a woman is attractive from just her rear?" she notes and a wry smile.

"Point taken," you admit. "So what's wrong with me?"

"Mild malnutrition, exhaustion, and excess static built-up; when did you last discharge your biotic amp?" she asks.

"Crap, I KNEW I was forgetting something," you say closing your eyes and shaking your head. "No wonder I have a damn headache."
>>
>>37226730
How do our shoulders compare doc? Also ( insert discharge joke here)
>>
>>37226730

"Do you OFTEN forget to eat and discharge static?" she asks.

"Been a busy couple of days," you say, getting up and pressing a bare finger to the side of the doorframe, feeling the weird burning pressure behind your eyes leave as you discharge the electrical build-up from your biotics usage.
Next person who touches the door is gonna get a surprise.

"You said you grew up on Omega?" she says, changing the subject back to you.

"Yeah," you say with a nod. "Like the Citadel, but fewer people in less space and all the aliens who hate your guts are real open about it instead of hiding it."

"Sounds....difficult...," she says sympathetically.

"Wasn't easy," you admit. "Most of the scars you saw I got BEFORE the military," you confide.

"Was life truly so violent there?" she wonders.

"Wasn't my choice. You gotta do what you gotta do sometimes," you say with a shrug.

"Any family there?"

"Not really," you say. "My mom died of cancer awhile ago. Too much eezo exposure mining I guess. My dad's a deadbeat merc. Haven't talked to him in years. Don't much want to either," you admit.

"Oh! I'm...I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-" she begins.

"No worries Doc, you didn't know. Old wounds, long healed and all that," you say, brushing it off.

"I was wondering...,"

"Hm?" you say, turning towards her and finishing your protien bar.

"Would you like to get a bite to eat next time we set down some place civil?"

You think about it.
"Sure. Not sure we're going to be reaching 'civilization' anytime soon though," you admit.

"I can wait," she says with a smile.

"I gotta check up on Nagase and find out ETA to Illium. We'll talk later though," you say with a nod and a smile and head up the elevator.

Weird. You don't think you've ever been hit on before. Your life hasn't left much room for that sort of thing.

You walk past the CIC into the cockpit where Nagase is working on the controls.

"Lieutenant," she says without turning, focused in her job like usual.

"Nagase. Where are we?" you ask, checking the readouts.

"Need refueling," she notes. "Had to pull some fancy maneuvers back there and we were off-course by responding to the distress call anyway."

"We're in the Terminus Systems? Refueling can get dodgy there," you note.

"No, we're still in the Attican Traverse, the Shadow Sea. We could refuel at Horizon, but we'll loose time catching up to the guys that we're after," she explains.

You see where she's going with this. Unfortunately.

"And there's only one relay route here that'll carry us in the right direction and get us fuel reliably," you say with a sigh.

"Yup, Omega. Problem?"

"I used to live there," you admit.

"Huh. That can't have been easy."

"Do you have any friends who can help out?"

"Uh...'friends' is not the word I would use to describe my relationship with people I know on Omega," you admit.

Later you're called to the CIC, and from navigation you can tell you're near Omega.

"Logan," he says, nodding back. "We're nearing Omega Station. I'm told you have a history here. Given the likelihood of finding information here, especially about Eclipse, can I trust you to command the ground team?" he wonders.

"Absolutely Sir," you say with a nod.", standing ready.

"Excellent. Who shall you take with you?"

Some time later you finish heading out the airlock with your shore party and make your way through the docking tube to the station.

A Salarian with greenish skin walks up, arms wide and begins speaking.

You holster the gun, then turn to see Aeson and Reegar staring.

"Sure," you say. "First Rule of Omega; make it seem like you're pissed off and dangerous and violeng even when you aren't. Keeps away the minor problems."

"So where we going?" Aeson says as you flag down an auto-cab.

"My Doctor's clinic," you say.

"Feeling sick?" Reegar quips.

"No, but Professor Solus is pretty well-connected on the station. I think he's some kind of ex-military. He's also the only person on here that probably won't try to screw us over when we ask him for info," you explain.

"Why not? It seems like that's kinda par-for-course around here," Aeson notes.

"No idea. He's just a decent guy. Takes his medical practice very seriously," you say with a shrug.

You arrive outside the clinic in a few minutes, and walk past the security mechs he has posted out front.

You wait politely in line before a human walks up to you, looking exasperated.

"Look, if you're here for protection mon...wait, Jack? Jack Logan?"

"Danny?" you say, surprised. Daniel was one of your only friends growing up. You're surprised he's working at Omega; he left to get a medical degree.

"Jesus, Logan! It's been, what, seven years! You look good, what are you, Alliance now?" he says, patting your shoulder.

"Elanus Risk Control Services actually. I was in the Alliance for awhile though," you admit.

"You want to talk to the Professor I guess?"

"Yeah. He can talk and work, we don't mind. Seeing as he'll do it anyway and all," you say wryly.

You follow Danny inside to the clinic where Mordin works on a Turian female.

"Doctor Solus? I don't know of you remember me, I'm-"

"Jack Logan, Block 2112 nervous system high inundation with element zero over fourty percent dark energy output measured at 32.3 kilowatts potential mass effect generation at over 900 newtons with proper training mother deceased father absent Talons affiliation but falling out with leader after disagreement," he says all at once, ending with a sharp intake of air and turning towards you with a smile.

"You too Doc," you say, shaking his hand. All salarians talk fast but Mordin really takes the cake.

He shakes it back and begins talking again.

"Grew up, excellent, always felt you had promise rare to find such high biotic potential in human shame to let it go to waste here without exploring more of Galaxy heard about the thing with Jarrut don't blame you was always a bit of an ass likely prejudice against humans mixed with usual devaluation of life common to gangs heard you shipped out to Grissom Academy in my suggestions too, excellent training program there good learning experience get to know other humans get good education always were very bright can't use that here, see you have military posture, good, Alliance? No, equipment not uniform have turian and Quarian with you (hello), private industry blue coloring scheme suggests Elanus Risk Control Services very good, professional outfit not like Eclipse or Blue Suns not a bad career choice!"

Sharp intake of air.

"But why ARE you here?" he questions, putting a pair of fingers to his chin.

"Thanks Doc, I will. This is my commlink number," you say, sending it his way. "See you later."

You turn and walk out with your until then silent companions, and Reegar speaks.

You head out of the clinic and on the way to the taxis you bump into a batarian who deliberately shoulders you.

"Watch it human!" he says turning towards you.

"Whatch yoursel-" you begin, meeting his gaze, but pausing once you see his features,

His face is covered in red tatoo markings.

There's a pause, and suddenly he turns and attempts to run, but before he can you activate your biotics and grab him with a TK field, holding him and grabbing him physically by the throat and throwing his back onto the hood of a nearby parked car!

You draw your M-11 pistol (suppressor removed at the moment) and shove it's black barrel right into his face on his nose and lower right eye!

"WHAT DID YOU SEE!?" you shout, startling your squad.

"Jarrut-" he begins and then you hold his throat tighter, tight enough to let him know that with a simple application of biotics you could pop his head off like a bottlecap.

"I ASKED YOU WHAT YOU SAW!!" you say, thumbing off the safety, letting him know just how much the length of rest of his life depends on his answer.

"N...nothing!" he wheezes.

"SORRY, I DIDN'T CATCH THAT!"

"Didn't...see anything!"

You let him go and he falls off the hood, gripping his throat and gasping for air.

"Just so we're clear," you say, holster ing your pistol and heading for the cabs without another word.
>>
>>37231237
I take it that was a member of the Talons?
>>
>>37231237

"So....who was that?" Aeson says.

"Old friend," you say in a tone that suggests you are not going to elaborate.

You hail a cab to Afterlife and head inside after slipping the guards some extra credits.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ATIFjrjXgNw

The familiar music hits your ears and you sigh. You always hated this place.

"Not that I don't appreciate the scenery," Aeson begins, nodding at a light blue ass in a thong wiggling at him from a nearby stage, "but what are we doing here?"

"Aria T'Loak is the crime boss who runs Omega. This is her place. I can't arrange a meeting with her or anything, but we can see who comes and who goes. That'll tell you a lot right there," you explain.

"So...what? We just sit here?" Reegar says, clearly not comfortable with the idea.

"We can have a drink too," you say, sitting at the bar and paying the tender.

You keep your eyes open as you order a bit of asari liquor watching people go see Aria in her private booth.

You catch some Eclipse men heading over and sip your drink, when suddenly a shapely blue ass sits down on your crotch and grinds in a very direct manner.

"Hey cutie, how about a dance? Discount for you!" the asari says coquettishly.

"No offense but I'm kinda busy..," you say, moving to push her off just as she turns to face you.

>"Better luck next time~"

There's an awkward pause as you recognize each other.

"Oh...hi again," she says, giving an awkward smile.

You immediately grab her by the throat and flip her onto the bar (she makes a "Whoop!" sound as you do it) and draw your gun, and flare up your biotics.

Immediately as you do you hear a CHA-CHAK! as the bartender pulls a shotgun and Aeson and pulls his M-3 Predator to cover at him and then seemingly half a dozen other guns pop out of nowhere as Reegar draws his battle rifle and covers your back and you begin to wonder of if you simply have REALLY poor impulse control.

"Hahahaha...," she laughs, her fingers going around your arm. "We GOTTA stop meeting like this Handsome~"

"Don't," you say simply, but still smiles and doesn't move her fingers away. She doesn't fight back, but she doesn't let go either.

"Boss, next time let's discuss the plan before you put it into action," Reegar says, clearly wary of all the firearms pointed your way.

"Kinda lost here too Jack," Aeson admits, keeping his pistol trained on the bartender.

"She's the commando who I fought back in New Seattle," you explain, trying to keep your eyes on the room and wondering how the hell you'll walk out of this one alive.

"It was pretty exhilarating Handsome. Jack, is it? Is that a common human name? I like how it sounds," she says, still smiling and wiggling a bit under you.

"Enough with the Catwoman routine already," you say, rolling your eyes. "Call off your friends and we'll keep this...," you say, then notice that the nearby Eclipse mercs are watching...but are NOT among the people pointing guns at you.

You slowly turn to face her and she raises one of her white-marked brows as she recognizes the thought process going through your head.

"Who are you?" you say, suddenly feeling a bit lost.

She just smiles.

You feel another assault rifle press up behind you and turn to see a batarian, one who was guarding up the way to Aria's booth behind you.

"Aria wants to speak with you human," he says.

"I...can explain?" you say lamely.

"Explain to Aria," he says without any sympathy or even care.

"She's coming with me," you say nodding at your captive.

"Yes. She is," he says, looking at her with his lower pair of eyes.

"Nice to see you too Anto," the asari says, still smiling.

The batarian says nothing.

You let her up and put your hands up, holding onto your pistol. She slides to her feet and brushes past you, whispering "Buy me a drink next time we're that close Handsome, you'll get more out of it,"

You roll your eyes as the group escorts you up the stairs and into the private booth where Aria sits waiting.

You've never met her in person, and right now you honestly are kind of wishing you never had; she's scary as hell.

"Scan them," she says coolly, and the turian behind you works his omnitool.

"We aren't here to cause problems," Aeson says.

"Nothing on them except what they're carrying," the other turian says with a shrug.

You note that the asari you held hostage is simply standing by the door, arms cross and one hip thrust to the side (she smiles at you when you notice it), and she wasn't scanned either.

"I'm Aria T'Loak, and you've just broken Omega's only rule," the crime boss says icily, and then nods over at the commando you had hostage.

"I see you've already met my daughter Aleena."

"She a suspect in a terrorist attack on the colony of Vendexa, and Elanus Risk Control Services is contracted to protect the colony and solve the crime," you say simply.

"Is she now?" Aria says, looking over at Aleena, who just shrugs.

"I was there, yeah," she admits.

"Pursuing your little vendetta again?" Aria says, and it's not really a question.

"Not really any of your business, now is it?" the stripper-dressed commando says, pretending to examine her nails.

"It BECOMES my business when you drag ECRS who might get more official Citadel or Alliance attention here because of it, girl," the crime boss says, none too pleased.

"A little late to act like my mother, Mother," Aleena sneers.

Aria shakes her head then turns back to you.

"My daughter is not a member of Eclipse, Mister Logan, and hasn't been for some time," she clarifies. "However she makes it her business to interfere in their affairs now and then."

"I didn't tell you my name," you say cautiously.

"I've known your name for eight years. You're Nyreen's little friend," she says simply. "I don't suppose you know where she is?"

You pause in surprise before answering.
"No."

She examines you, trying to decide if you're lying.

"Too bad. I was fond of Nyreen," she says wistfully, or as wistfully as she can muster.

"Probably why she left you," Aleena comments off-handedly.

Aria gives her another glare.

"I won't have you killing my daughter or my employees, Mister Logan. But ask your questions of her. Just do it elsewhere; you're disrupting my business," she explains.

"If you think she needs a time out her being guilty gets her cobsiderable jail time," you say lightly.

Aria glances at her daughter briefly before shrugging.

"If she gets put in jail because of her actions, fine," she says simply.

"You'll save me from getting killed but not from jail, huh?" Aleena says irritably.

"You chose this, girl. Live with the consequences," she responds coldly.

"Fine. Well come on Handsome, let's go to a private room. Your goons can stay outside, I don't take care to being strong-armed," the commando says, leading you out with her ass.

Aeson watches her go.

"I don't trust her Jack," he says simply.

"Me neither. There's shit going on here we aren't told about yet," Reegar agrees.

I opened my mind on 4Chan once.

It was terrible.
>>
>>37235265
....yeah, fair point.
>>
>>37235265
Opening mind on 4chan it's like swimming in cool murky pool- it's kinda refreshing, but you don't wanna do it again any time soon.
>>
>>37235407
It is closer to swimming in lake Ontario.
Sure it might seem like a good idea, then you grow a third eye.
>>
>>37234915
Hate to be the party crasher, but didn't Aria's daughter have the defect of killing people they bounded with? Thought that i read that somewhere.
>>
>>37235552
Not Aria. You're thinking of the Justicar's girls.
>>
>>37235536
Can you see with it ? If yes, then it went kinda okay.
>>
>>37235579
Ok, just thought i would voice it just in cause.
>>
>>37235754
You're probably confused because Omega is where you end up fighting the one that didn't want to be a monk in 2.
>>
>>37233782
>[Do not agree]
>>
>>37235754
It was Samara's daughters who were the Ardat-Yakshi, not Aria's (and in ME2 at least they were the ONLY Ardat-Yaskhi in existence).
Aria DOES have one mentioned daughter previoisly, but she's dead as of this point in the timeline.

Aleena's name is of course yet another reference to the backstory.
>>
>>37235793
Morinth, though that apparently wasn't her actual name.
>>
>>37232739
oh no, we're going to hatefuck the crap out of her

it will be soo good
>>
>>37235552
That was Morinth, Samara the Justicar's daugther.

I just caught up, thanks for the thread Sage.

Now I'm imagining we'll see this from our squads perspective once the actions starts when they'll start hearing grunting and screaming and the sound of things being thrown around the room and then some less violent grunting and screaming before we both come out with the best case of sexhair ever recorded and both of us discharging static electricity.

Oh jesus, no
ME2&3 Vanguard?
>>
>>37237382
More like lore Vanguard, with sick powers and not puny man from games
>>
>>37237398
So, a durable Biotic shock trooper?
thank god.
>>
>>37237421
If you need a game comparison, he's an N7 Slayer Vanguard; he's extremely agile and has a high degree of precision and emphasis on melee proficiency as well a lot of weapon skills.

There's no "restricted" biotics because the "powers" are mostly gameplay, and in lore there's only three actual powers; Telekinesis, Kinetic Fields, and Spatial Distortion.

All Biotics have all three, but some are better at certain things then others.
Jack has the highest proficiency with Kinetic Fields (altering mass) and Telekinesis, with Spatial Distortion as a secondary skill for him.

He is EXTREMELY powerful for a human biotic, having training surpassing any other Alliance biotic program from his time at the N-School and Grissom Academy, and has a raw power output greater then most asari can manage.
>>
>>37237484
Alright, I'll keep that in mind.
I just stopped liking Vanguard after ME2 and 3, but lore/Story Vanguard that you've described seems really solid.
I'll read through the older threads on the archive to get to speed on everything, and join in next thread
