JEDI ACADEMY MASTER Quest 5

Wow, five already. I love nothing more than a new gaming keyboard and an energy drink. Let's force.

What is JAMQ: XCOM meets the Jedi Order. Take the role of a Jedi leading a new Jedi Temple during the time of the Old Republic. Part RPG Quest, Part Civ management Quest.

You are Jedi Academy Master Akiva, in the time of The Old Republic Jedi Grand Master Zym has tasked you with starting a new Jedi Temple should something horrible happen to the Jedi on Coruscant. You are a Jedi Consular with experience as a diplomat. You are on your way to Enarc III to settle your new temple.

Last time you were pulled out of hyperspace by pirates. A battle ensued between the pirates and the ragtag group of unfortunates they had interdicted. You defeated the Pirate Frigate and Corvette (as well as associated fighters) but the pirate freighter got away. In return you lost a gunship, two freighters and a passenger liner.

Warden-1 was heavily damaged and still is under repair. You declined LT Morgans offer for escort to Naboo and instead decided to scavenge what you could from the wrecked ships and look for survivors.

You're currently aboard Warden-1 on the bridge, having just finished guiding the stand in Rodian pilot, Yuri, aside the Passenger Liner. You can see the name blazoned in blue along the ships scarred bow -Seacost Servant-. Yuri plants the control stick into hoverlock, keeping the corvette in it's position relative to the asteroid and the other ship.
You pat the shellshocked Rodian on the back as he sighs, staring at the stagnant pool or grey blood in the front bridge section as you make your way back into the liesure area. Duke's bounty hunters are relaxing about the central area as spacers rush about securing damaged panels and hot wiring the wounded ship.

You know that Warden-1 has two armoured EVA suits near the air lock, but there's no telling what might be aboard the Seacost Servant. You also know that quite a few people are wounded or otherwise tired from the adrenalin of battle.

You point at the Trandoshan who is lazily laying around on the couches in the liesure area.
“Didn't have your fill of violence? Well grab one of the suits from the airlock. You're headed over to the Passenger Liner.” You command, eager to show the upstart Hunter that you're in charge here. The yellowed lizard glances at Duke who crosses his arms and nods, returning to his discussion with PD0-7. The Tradnoshan snarls and grabs the quiet Imperial sitting next to him.

“Come on pinkskin. Let's see if theres anything worth taking.” Snarls Vek'assk. Theyad rolls his shoulder, removing the Trandoshans grip and snarls back.
“Get your hands off me you dumb lizard. I'll grab my gear.” He stabs back, his Imperial accent ringing through true. He grabs a small carbine and a utility pouch as the pair make their way to the airlock. Duke gives you a slight nod and returns to his conversation.

Without the pair of hunters clogging up space the liesure area appears far calmer and far dirtier with scrap metal, ordnance and food wrappers spread about. Tax looks like she's been shifted to another area, leaving you largely alone.

The sooner we get out of here, the better. Remember, our comms are shot thanks to the battle. I honestly didn't expect that much battle damage out of the fight, for a prototype at least.

From ONE skirmish. And the Jedi are going to make this their flagship craft now that we've got our hands on it.
>>
You opt to check on repairs, knowing that Duke is (hopefully) a professional and that the Jedi can handle themselves. Taking the short walk to the right engine bay you find the Rodian 'Sickie' organising the remaining seven spacers in the place of Caja. By the looks of things he's got them split into two teams of three and four. The larger team is spread out over the ship doing spot repairs on damaged panels, consoles and wiring. The other group of three is attempting to get the communications system reactivated.

Sickie shakes his head when you approach. “She's a good ship but we're still learning how she works. With time we'll get those shields spread out better, but that heavy turret gave us a run for our credits. Thankfully the superstructure of the whole thing is fine, it's harder to repair the skeleton of a ship rather than the comms.”

Apparently the spot repairs are going poorly due to the lack of on board communications causing the spacers to spend as much time running around as repairing. The comms repairs are going better, they're going to try to scavenge enough from the on board comms to create a local channel. In regards to possible salvage he grimaces.

“That passenger liner won't have much, it's too old. Tools would be useful but not parts. The BT-7 if any of it is left might be useful, and you never know with freighters.

You'd like to trust the Bounty Hunters but....you don't. You make your way up to the bridge and listen to the actions of Vek'assk and Theyad over a small commlink with Yuri and Duke. Yuri listens with a worried stare, ready to pull Warden-1 away in case of danger. Duke simply sits almost motionless, clicking his pointed teeth every other moment.

“Thiss hall way is clear.” Hisses Vek'assk.

“Moving. Cargobay clear.” Replies Theyad.

The pair clears the whole ship in about twenty minutes. They report not survivors, although the ship seemed almost full judging by the amount of personal supplies in the cargo hold. They find the bodies of the flight crew stuffed into the bridge along with a smattering of blaster holes. They loot a number of small handheld blasters from the vanquished crew before making their way back to Warden-1. Vek'assk notes that aside from the massive breach and the blaster holes, the ship is in largely good shape. He appears not to mind the dead bodies and blood.

The pair return to Warden-1 with a case of holdout blasters, looted personal affects and not much else. They stow the EVA suits as the Sickie enters the bridge.

“Comm's should be back up within the local area Master Jedi, you'll have to use the terminal in the left engine bay but we should be able to talk with any other ships nearby.”

You tap Yuri on the shoulder and motion for the wrecked freighters. “Bring us over there, we'll see if they've got any strange parts for us to salvage.” The Rodian nods and begins pushing Warden-1 over towards the wreck. You make your way down into the engineering bay, following Sickie as he shows you to the rudimentary comms controls. You get yourself situated and take a long awaited sigh before opening up a communications channel.

“You ok over there Captain?” You enquire, seeding your voice with genuine kindness.

{I am well but saddened Warrior-Jedi. My kinsmen drift in space and now it is left to me to pick the wounds and find profit in death.} He responds in deep Wookie tongue.

“I am sorry to hear of your loss Captain Brakkuk. This never should have happened.” He console the starship captain.

{True but it did. I thank you for your kind words and saving what is left of my crew. We will take what we can salvage from the Guile Wolf before jumping to Naboo, I hope to see you there to offer thanks.} Finishes the Wookie before cutting the channel.

You return to the bridge and can see a trio of wookies in oversized EVA suits hauling trunks from the Guile Wolf, back to the Gatekeeper. The remaining wreck is badly charred from Turbolaser fire and is mostly spare parts. But spare parts could be useful. One of the Spacers and Vek'assk head out this time, looking for scrap. They find some useful engine coolant and the remains of an Astromech droid they think can be repaired, but little else.

You look about you, the death and damage of the combat beginning to fade from your mind and you yearn for home. But your consciousness reminds you that you are here to push for a new home, not yearn for an old one.

“So where are we Yuri?” You ask with a matter-of-fact curiosity. The Rodian brings you up to the Navigation terminal and brings up the galactic map, pointing out the little flashing blip that is Warden-1.

“Here Master Akiva, between Dargul and Naboo. It seems the Pirates were hoping to prey on weak tourists jumping off from the Hydian Way. We can jump to Naboo if you wish or we can try for a clean jump to the Enarc system. Your call.”

It's a last minute spot and grab, and unlikely would not have been an option if Warden-1 was traveling under full power. But shortly before your jump Duke points out the front of the bridge at a piece of scrap floating in the void. What you had originally assumed was just more durasteel ship parts is actually a Pirate fighter, floating empty with its canopy open.

It requires some carefully maneuvering and some questionable docking, but you manage to force the ship to calm to Warden-1's airlock before making your jump to lightspeed.

Once underway the crew collectively sighs before continuing the tiring work of returning Warden-1 to operational status. You too begin to feel the exhaustion of the past few hours and days. Yuri informs you that the jump will take about twelve hours at your current speed before you reach Naboo.

Yes. See picture.

You say your quick goodbyes and ask not to be disturbed until you reach Naboo before heading back to your quarters. You pass Kiandra on the way and she days not stop you, simply opting to give you her standard, blank stare as you pass her in the hallway before shutting your door behind you.

Sleeping is not hard, the adrenalin in you system is well and truly spent and thankfully meditation is not either. Perhaps Stargazer is busy elsewhere or hopefully he is properly contained. You may not be perfectly at one with the force when you drop out of hyperspace but you at least feel more yourself.

The bridge is clear once you return to it and Caja is once again at the helm. She is conversing with another spacer you can't hear clearly over a commlink as you come up on Naboo. She gives you a weak smile as you stand next to her.

“Looks a lot nicer than asteroid, I'll say that. What do you want to do Jedi? Dock at the station? Or land at Theed?” She asks.

“Dock us with the station, I want Warden-1 factory new as soon as possible.” You inform Caja. She nods and begins speaking into the commlink, conversing with the Spacer manning comms in the engine bay at the rear of the ship. It takes some time but eventually you communicate properly with NAB-1, the orbiting station and dock in one of it's free landing bays. As you come in you spot 8 other ships in port; a pair of heavy transports, two wrecked freighters, a noble yacht, a mining ship alongside the transports and a republic gunship emblazoned with Hunter-2.

You are given your own docking bay, complete with a small living quarters and tools to do minor repairs. You call a meeting in the meeting room with Caja, Sickie, Duke and the Jedi to ascertain what needs to be done.

“Naboo is a pretty advanced planet, their royal ships use premium parts so we should be able to get a new comms unit and replace the engine here. It won't be cheap though.” Sickie informs you.

Naboo is still loyal to the republic, you should be able to swing a free holocall from the stations customs office.

You head out into the main ringway that goes all around the station acting as the thoroughfare connecting all the hangars together. You make your way down a few hangars before coming on one which has a single Zabrak in light Republic armour guarding the door. He lets you in with a smile and tells you that LT Morgan is in the living space.

Hunter-2 is undergoing heavy structural repairs in order to right it's wounded wing and return it to combat ready status. An army of smally droids pick over it like fussy family members as you enter the living area.

LT Morgan is a human male with dark skin and short black hair. He is currently talking with afew other soldiers but steps away from them as you approach. He seems unsure on how to greet you.

“Jedi will do fine lieutenant, I haven't served in a long time so I doubt I still have the Jedi General Rank.” You inform LT Morgan with a smile.

“Understood.” Replies Morgan, offering you a seat at a small table to the back of the living quarters. The rest of his soldiers either file out or begin stripping their armour to catch some rest on the bunks at the front of the room.

“I must say I was surprised and thankful to find a Jedi out here. You really saved our hides.” grins Morgan as he taps the table with a hand. “I doubt things would have gone as well without you and your ship.”

“Well we just happened to be in the right place at the right time lieutenant, the force is like that.” You assure him, staying friendly.

“So what does bring you out here?” He asks.

“Doing some scouting for the order on some out-of-the-way planets.” You lie with your best diplomat smile. Morgan does not seem inclined ti disagree with a Jedi and nods vigorously.

“Much the same here. We prospecting, seeing what would happen if the war turns this way and looking for sith involvement in the Galactic south.” Morgan informs you. He clears his throat before continuing. “So where do you plan on starting?”

“I'll try the Enarc system then see where it takes me.” You say in a bored tone.
“Not a bad place if your a merchant, Enarc Prime is a pretty busy place.” He agrees. “So is there anything I can help you with?”

“What can you tell me about Enarc Lieutenant? I'd like to know what I'm walking into.” You ask, trying to hide you burning curiosity and succeeding. Morgan sighs and rubs his forehead.

“Well what is there to tell? Ran by the Banking Clans based out of Enarc Prime. They use Enarc II as a refueling station and base a decent portion of their fleets that run the Hydian Way and the Corellian run out of there. No legitimate military aside from token guards of the Republic government buildings on Enarc Prime since it still does technically belong to us. The real force to be reckoned with is the mercenary armies and droid armies the Banking Clan maintains. Aside from that, the place is quite safe. They want commerce to go one as they like it. No surprises.” Morgan informs you. He yawns and whipes his sweaty brow again. “I'd hate to do this Jedi but me 'n mine are beat, I'm gonna hit the refresher and take a nap, it's been a pleasure and I hope we cross paths again.”

“Likewise Lieutenant, good luck with you mission.” You say as you stand and shake his hand. Morgan nods and waves you out. Leaving you standing once again in the ringway.

You arrive at the clinic some time before Caja, giving you time to sort out medical supplies before Xak arrives. You are met with overwhelming support from the clinic staff who promise that, as a servant of the Republic, he will be given good, clean and more importantly free health care thanks to a little diplomatic maneuvering on you part.

Xak arrives with Caja and another spacer shortly after and is taken off your hands quite promptly. A short while later a Naboo doctor comes out with a worried look about him.

“His wounds have been sealed shut quite...oddly but they appear healed. The real issue is the nerve damage and blood loss, both can be healed but will require quite an extended stay submersed in Kolto, atleast a month. We can tend to him for this time, but it may inconvenience you.”

> “Keep him for as long as you can, we will take him with us.”

With that sorted you are left with little else to do. Sickie calls you on the comm link and informs you that you have the parts and Duke has sold the fighter. Apparently the blasters are unsellable right now, Duke isn't sure why but the customs department is giving him odd looks. Sickie also informs you that repairs to Warden-1 should take two days.

What do for those two days?

You spend the two days out in the open area around Warden-1 practicing with the other Jedi. You pass on some knowledge to Eskol and Rogni who seemed to have warmed to you. More importantly you notice Eskol becoming more natural and accustomed to being with Vash, as opposed to intimidated and unsure. Rogni spares his spare time with you and Vash on account of Tax still being unconscious except for brief periods of time. Kiandra spends some time with you but it appears that space travel does not agree with her, causing her to opt towards spending time in the ship asleep. Lucius however assists as a sparring partner for the Padawans, showing a not poor skill with the lightsaber he carries.

When you have time without the Padawans you practice telepathy with Vash. He has had no experience with it and you have spent many years trying you best not to (apparently telepathy intimidates senators) and it is slow going. You will have to spend much more time practicing.

Eventually however, Warden-1 is repaired and ready to depart. Duke informs you that it was HE he bought the fighter off you, opting to store it here until he can find a use for it. He apparently just 'liked the look of it.'

Warden-1 leaves Naboo some two days after it's arrival and makes a speedy sixteen hour jump to the Enarc System.

> You are now friends with Rogni Mollek and Eskol Ellan

Thats all for tonight guys. Mostly house keeping but next thread we will actually get to ENARC III HOLY DICKBALLS

As always thanks for playing. Thanks for getting us up to five threads! I hope to make it to one of those threads you see and think "How the hell did that get to three digits?"

As normal, I'll be around to chat and shoot the shit about the quest for a good few hours. I'm always available @JedayyMaster on twitter.

The next game will likely be on Friday day. So two days from now.

You guys are rad.

I'm a big fan of building in Roleplaying games and tend to do it in the (few) games I play in as well as offering it nearly always in the games I run. So I'm looking forward to it a lot. He might've but I don't. I don't think we need something that could be so harmful in our training academy.
>>
>>37197381
well I'm for keeping it. Not touching it though, not until long after the prefabs come in and we've developed a resistance.
>>
>>37197356
My personal aim is giving stargazer the redemption he wanted (and I guess cleansing the holocron of dark side) but shied of asking for during his life, while keeping the option of corruption alive (until redemption anyway) because having options rock.

Also milking it out of experience for ourselves and our students, and increasing the temple's prestige (which I hope will be a measurable thing and we hoard artifacts for our library).

And separately, keeping it out of principle because we chose it over other important equipment. That's like selecting our ship and then steering it to the sun because reasons.
>>
>>37197414
Cool.
>>
>>37197488
I don't wan't Akiva to be corrupted but I think it benefits a jedi quest if the issue of alignment is active for a portion of it, just for being there. Redemption is nice too. Once we give Stargazer peace we could grant public access of the holocron to the students. Might even give them a resistance to the dark side for reading about a redeemed jedi, plus a boost to experience, however you're planning on doing that when we enter semi-civ mode with dozens of students.

But we can all talk things out right? ...assuming that we don't delay this talk too long, which will either result in them suspecting us for turning to the dark side or they themselves getting corrupted.

Communication is great, mang.
>>
>>37197579
I doubt she had time even if she marked it. We mediated by it for days and after the fighting Tax was just unconscious. We've been on Naboo for, what, two days?

>>37197618
