So far, we've found like one good lead on actual secrets, which is the crazy girl with the artifact book. Now, we could theoretically pacify the BOOK, but we'd need to have the orb touched to it.

Any other potential leads are kinda sabotaged by us not knowing much of anything about magic. So here's a bunch of runes that I haven't identified conclusively! A couple of them I have a pretty good idea of, but 'pretty good idea' seems insanely dangerous to cast anything with.

You cast spell A. It has a length of duration of say, five minutes. WITHIN THAT FIVE MINUTES, you want to cast another spell (spell B), but have no options for energy. So what do you use as fuel?

Why, Spell A, of course! Simply hook Spell B up to fuel source (spell b). Spell A ends, spell B starts.

I figured out how to free Vaisi.
It's a two part plan.
The first part is this spell:
Target<-Fuel:(Mana Gem)-Action:(Decrease:Energy:infinitely)

This will draw from the mana gem to make the target artifact/person unable to put out any power.
Any spell that gets cut off from its power supply instantly dies of mana starvation. This means the mind control and killing spell on Vaisi would stop existing if we successfully used it on the book, and she'd be free.

HOWEVER, the book can make a saving throw against that to resist the effects, which is where part two comes in:

We have Tali cast the spell while we're challenging the book for control over Vaisi. The book has to split its focus between fighting us and fighting the spell. If it loses to us, then we can force it to end the spells. If it conceeds Vaisi to prevent becoming our bitch, then we can use our absurdly high artifact will save to throw the spells on her off. If it fails against our spell, its spells die and Vaisi is freed from it and we can force Vaisi to kick it into a corner.
Bam, Vaisi's free, and we can ASSUME DIRECT CONTROL at our leisure.

TL;DR: Challenge Book for Vaisi artifact to artifact; Tali backstabs the book while we fight.

Locate Girl With Brown Hair. Find key is still handy. Here is the spell. And lift. And here is create light. Do you see? Simple spells."

I finally got a few helpful spells.

And with these spells I can just adjust them. Like turn it into Locate Fire or Locate Light.
