“What are we doing on Pluto?” asks Clarissa.

Simply put, you are Lumière Berger, Green Lantern of Sector 2814, and you have brought Clarissa Savage, Chaselon, and Red Tornado out to the farthest planet in your Solar System. That way, in case there are very harsh words exchanged, the Earth at least remains relatively safe. Unless they bring some kind of planet-eating monster with them of course. Which you hope they won’t.

The Yellow Lantern Arkillo snarls, his nose twitching as he sniffs at you four. “Sinestro will be with you in a moment. We must open a tear to Qward.” They float up and fire off their yellow rings at a specific point above Pluto’s sky.

“That still doesn’t answer my question,” says Clarissa.

“Pluto’s the farthest planet away from Earth while still in our Solar System,” you explain.

Clarissa looks around at the barren, dark landscape of Pluto. “This is a planet? More like a moon.”

“I assure you,” says Chaselon. “It’s a planet.”

“Pfft, not to me,” says Clarissa.

“This is so exciting!” Red Tornado jumps up, then slowly floats back down to the ground. Her arms are still in the air and her legs are still curled up as she does so. “I’m in spaaaaace!”

Pluto is a planet. It has three moons and if that isn't at least an attempt at clearing its orbit then I don't know what is.

> Eh, let them talk, this should be over relatively quickly.

You sigh, pressing your skit down then sitting down upon the lip of a crater. The joys of having to meet Sinestro again are as null and void as an expired check. Clarissa and Chaselon continue on arguing over the ethics of whether or not Pluto is a planet or not while Red Tornado keeps bouncing up and down with the low gravity.

Maybe it was a mistake bringing Red Tornado. You don’t doubt her ability one bit, but there’s no air or winds in space for her to manipulate.

Oh well, Sinestro won’t ambush you, you’re sure of that.

Finally, after a good long minute, the tear slices open into space. Everyone stops to see Qward, the anti-matter planet sit in a sea of vast yellow and destruction. You’re honestly unsure of how to describe it. It just feels wrong in some sense. Merde, you wouldn’t want to end up being sent there.

If the Guardians had their way, maybe that’s where they’d send you.

You can see Sinestro, and a pair of heavily armed and gigantic guards bearing the yellow ring fly up to the entrance of the tear. They fly through, and he smiles as if he weren’t a complete Nazi wannabe. “Lumière Berger, my most favorite student.” He steps down onto the dusty plains of Pluto. He holds out his arms, smiling. “What, no hug?”

> “Get to the point.”

You cross your arms, squinting and huffing angrily. “Get to the point, Monsieur.”

He stands there, his arms still held out wide. “Are you sure?” You nod. He sighs, dropping his arms in defeat but still not failing to smile either. “Fine, fine.” He walks up to you, and you realize just how much he towers over you. He’s certainly no Arkillo nor is he Kilowog, but he’s still quite tall.

Your ears meet his abs for a second, and for just a split second you contemplate giving them a scouting “touch”. Then you realize, nope, nope, that’d be creepy even with someone with actual normal skin. “So you offer the Yellow Lantern’s services?” you ask.

He nods, placing his hands upon his hips and looking down at you. Clarissa, Chaselon, and Red Tornado slide in next to you, just in case you need back up. “That’s right. I hear talk that Legion is giving the Green Lantern Corps trouble, and I am told the Corps has issues both outside and inside.” He smirks. “Perhaps thanks to you.”

You shrug. “I do not know what you speak of, Sinestro.”

“Regardless, I must have more than good faith to work with.” He looks to Arkillo, who growls in his direction, apparently egging him on. Sinestro looks back down at you with an insidious smile on his face. “Perhaps we can negotiate some terms, shall we?”

> “Fine, let’s negotiate.”

You roll your eyes, looking away. “I suppose we can, Sinestro. Fine.” Clarissa does not look happy, and Chaselon looks dejected at that. Red Tornado doesn’t know what’s going on. “Let us negotiate.”

And in a split second, you’re suddenly sitting on a yellow chair. A yellow table construct separates you and Sinestro. He snaps his finger, bringing down a pair of candles between you two, and two plates of yellow food. Arkillo and the other Yellow Lanterns slide in a meter or two away, projecting instruments to play soft classical music. “Very good,” says Sinestro.

You blink, then look to your fellow Lanterns and Rouge. They’re already busy eating the yellow food Sinestro has given them as well. Quoi?

Sinestro leans forward, resting his head on tented hands. “Right. Let us discuss this over a bit of dinner?”

You glance away. What? You look back to him. “Um… okay?” Did the anti-matter universe mess something up in his brain? You hope not. That would be quite the waste.

“Very good.” He snaps his finger, presenting two menus for you and him. Arkillo lumbers over, now wearing a yellow tuxedo in the form of some kind of monstrous waiter. “I will order the Cabernet Sauvignon, 1934. And a good nice steak, to share with the young miss.”

Arkillo grunts, then looks to you. “And you?”

“Er… what he said.”

Arkillo nods, grunting as he writes it down on pen and paper. He walks away to prepare the meal in a yellow constructed kitchen. “Alright, get cooking you little poozers!”

You look at Sinestro, leaning and squinting at him. “What the hell are you doing, Sinestro?”

He leans back, smiling. “Can we not negotiate the terms of a temporary- if not permanent- alliance between my Corps and the Green Lanterns over a nice dinner?” Um. Well. On the one hand, no boy has ever taken you out to a nice dinner before, and you’ve always dreamt that it would happen in such a romantic fashion. Then you and him would drive him, have a little bit of wine, and then snuggle up and cuddle with each other, then Monsieur Stork would come and deliver the baby! Oh, lovely!

This…

You’re having dinner on Pluto.

“Well, this…” You tilt your head. “Are you okay, Sinestro?”

He shrugs. “Never better.” Arkillo comes out with the plates of yellow steak and yellow wine. “Ah, good!” He sets them down for you all, along with yellow wine glasses and yellow utensils as well. “Very good service, lightning fast!” He picks up a knife and fork and starts cutting into the steak. You look at your own cut, then back at him.

“Um.” You look to Clarissa and company. “What do you make of the food?” you ask.

Clarissa chews on a yellow construct of a cheeseburger. “Spicy, but it’s pretty good.”

You look back to Sinestro. “Are you trying to pull my leg?”

He smirks. “Can I not enjoy a nice dinner in peace with you? How about we catch up first, what is the Green Lantern Corps like since I have been gone? Is Salaak still a no-nonsense jabberwocky as usual? Kilowog still training the recruits?”

You stare at him, in complete and honest disbelief. You are having dinner with your former Professeur over a space dinner on Pluto while the fate of the Corps hangs in the balance. And yet…

Ah, whatever.

“They are okay, I suppose.” You shrug. “Salaak has grown a little bit more of a spine thankfully, he was one of the many to volunteer to help me in the liberation of Gemworld recently.”

“Ah yes, I heard,” says Sinestro. “Kilowog too?” You nod. “How about Xax, how is the little bugger?”

“Xax is okay, still small.” Sinestro chuckles, uncorking the wine bottle, pouring you a drink and him a drink as well. “Leezle Pon constantly attempts to molest me.” And with that, you catch his attention. “Claims he wants to vaccinate me against all forms of smallpox, but I know what he is really after.”

“Oh?” Sinestro leans in, now curious. “Do tell.”

You nod. Leezle, that little microscopic weasel always trying to get you infected with his particular brand of smallpox. “Yes, he wants to steal a baby from Monsieur Stork, I know.” Sinestro quirks a brow at that. “You know, that’s… how it works, oui?”

Sinestro’s eyebrows drop down, and his jaw hangs open for a few seconds. “Um. Do you not know how sexual intercourse?”

You lean in, resting your head on your hands. “What’s sexual intercourse?”

Sinestro stares at you, uncharacteristically awkward. He then leans back and snaps his finger. Arkillo places down a check. “Well uh… I think we should get to negotiating things then.” Oh? That’s disappointing. You suppose you’ll have to ask Chaselon later. “Right.” He pulls out a coin purse and then starts setting down a tip for Arkillo. “Here’s the deal. I know Legion is pressing the Corps to its limit. Even all seven-thousand two-hundred Lanterns plus reserves will have a difficult time facing against Legion’s Manhunters. Not to mention that he has somehow managed to get the Red Lanterns to work with him and them. That is not something I would’ve expected.”

You nod. “Yes, of course.”

“Now, Legion has actually approached me in particular.” You grab the fabric cloth covering the table, surprised. “But… I have refused, because I know that the Green Lantern Corps is important not just to you or to others, but to the universe as a whole. What would a society be without a police?”

“So what do you want then?” you ask.

He smiles. “I ask only a few things. To be able to return to Korugar, a right which has been denied to me time and time again by the Guardians since the start of my imprisonment. I also ask that the Sinestro Corps be allowed to roam freely throughout the universe, again the Guardians would never allow a Corps that runs by fear to run free.”

You hold up your hand. “Pardon, Monsieur. I do not speak for the Guardians. They certainly will not allow of this no matter how hard I would try to persuade them.”

He nods, scratching his chin. “You make a sound point. In which case, I ask only of one condition.” You tilt your head. “I wish only for you to be at my side.”

> “Fine.”

To join the Sinestro Corps would be treason against the Green Lantern Corps. A sacrifice beyond measure. It would mean alienating your friends and family so that Corps has a better chance at survival. “Fine.” If it’s for the Corps, you will do it.

“Very well.” Sinestro pulls up a Yellow Ring, smiling. He holds it out to you. “Take this ring. Don’t lose it like you did the last one. You have the ability to inspire great fear, I know it. Welcome to the Sinestro Corps.”

You reach out for it, your heart racing as every fibre in your being is telling you no. But this is for the Corps.

For the Corps.

“Hold on!” Clarissa smashes the table apart. The ring goes flying out of Sinestro’s hand, and right into hers. She shuts a fist tight around it, glaring at Sinestro. “You can’t just poach her like that you damn Nazi!”

You stand up. “Clarissa-“

She stomps her foot, getting in your face. “I won’t let this happen!”

Sinestro stands up, glaring at her. “She has already made the decision. She will be a Yellow Lantern and part of the Sinestro Corps.“

Chaselon floats up. “I agree with Green Lantern Savage. I will not allow Green Lantern Berger to become part of this. She is a Green Lantern.” He holds up his ring. “At one point, I looked up to you, Sinestro, but now I see you are nothing more than a scandalous hooligan. I will protect Green Lantern Berger with my life!”

Clarissa steps in. “Same!”

“Guys, wait.” You step forward, pushing them apart gently. “I said I would-“

Red Tornado steps in, curious. “Don’t I get a say?” You all look to her, surprised. You nod to her. “GL… Criminals don’t fear you because you’re scary. Criminals fear you because you do the right thing and they don’t. And they know that.” You stare right at her, completely gobsmacked. “Whatever decision you make, I’ll… I’ll stand by it but… I know you’ll do the right thing.”

Sinestro nods. “She will.”

Sinestro dedicated his life to the corps to the expense of everything else, and it consumed him in the end. While I will agree that he is definitely one of the best characters in the GL franchise, that path doesn't really do him any good seeing where he finally ends up.

We should really ask for more time, considering this is kind of a big decision. Either we save Oa by taking the ring, or risk losing it all but stick to our ideals. And by securing an alliance with Sinestro, Legion loses out on his biggest crutch, which is shitting yellow on everything. But we -can- probably still win.

True, there is that.

I just don't really see Lumi fully being part of the Yellow Corp.

I mean despite the whole friendship and fear not really suiting her. All that training with Mogo (Best Bro next to disco orb) and her trying to come onto her own as a green lantern.

I kind of felt that her suddenly going yellow corp cheapens all that work she put in.
>>
> “Forget it. I’m not joining.”

You sigh. “I can’t. I won’t join, I’m sorry.” Sinestro’s jaw drops, surprised. Clarissa and Chaselon look back to you, smiling. “I… I can’t. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”

Arkillo snarls. “I told you, Sinestro. She’s weak. No way a puny little earthling like that can inspire fear.”

“Quiet, Arkillo.” He steps up to you, past Clarissa and Chaselon. “Maybe we can discuss this later. Or perhaps-“

“My decision is final.” Your lip quivers. “Please don’t make me relive Korugar. Please. Sinestro, I know you’re fond of me. Iknow there is a good person in there. I know deep down you will do the right thing too. The Green Lantern Corps was your life.” You shake your head, gnashing your teeth and sniffing. Your vision starts to blur a bit from the tears forcing themselves out. “Sinestro, please… if you really loved me, you will do the right thing. You will help the Corps. I want to believe you will do that and not just spread fear into everyone.”

Sinestro looks down to you, you can’t tell what he is thinking just based on his expression alone.

All he can do now is hug you, and hold you close. “I assure you, Lumière. I will do the right thing.” You sniffle. He takes your chin, then gently turns it upward for you to see him. “I’m not sure what the right thing is though.”

You slap him on the chest. “You know what it is!”

“I have my own Corps to look after now,” he explains.

“Sinestro, you could be a hero again in my eyes, in everyone’s eyes if you would just help us. Please.”

That just left you four on the barren wastes of Pluto.

You do realize that rolls are just a way of adding an unexpected element to the game, right?

Rolls should be interpreted using in-universe logic, like someone being a natural.

However, that isn't necessarily a good reason for Lumi to go yellow. The Yellow Ring was powerful and a hero shouldn't go where the power is or where he'll be accepted, but where the hero is really needed.

She smiles, and you can tell she’s blushing beneath that helmet of hers.

“So what now?” asks Clarissa. “We’re no closer to beating Legion than we were a few hours ago, and we certainly aren’t going to get Chaselon a Red Ring so he can start associating himself with the Communist Lanterns.” Clarissa huffs and puffs, frustrated. “This sucks.”

“We’ll find a way,” you say. Your ring beeps.

> WARNING: RED ENERGY DETECTED.

Huh? You all turn to see a bright red star of some kind approaching from the edge of the solar system. You squint. What is that? You hope it’s not actually a star because that would mean Earth is trouble.

Wait. No. It’s Cherry! Cherry Brigantina!

She flies right into a crater. The dust explodes and kicks up like the waves in an ocean. You all run over to her, and find her in one of the most sorry shapes you have ever seen. Her armor plates are dented and torn asunder. Her clothes ripped and shredded, revealing her smooth skin and her luscious legs and her surprisingly non-existent breasts, and her hair is not as fiery and red as it once was.

You kneel down to her. “Cherry!”

She groans, injured and barely conscious. She must’ve used what energy she had to pull of that flight.

You lay Cherry flat on the ground in the crater, then rub your hands together. You feel the willpower course through your palms and fingers. This is a healing touch. You press your hands flat on her chest. Cherry yelps in surprise, moaning and writhing as your willpower starts healing her wounds. She cringes in pain, her left leg curling up. “Ah… m-… merde…” she gently says.

“Does that feel good?” you ask to her.

She nods gently, her eyes shut and her mouth hanging up. “Oui… oui… ooh lala~, oui.” She rests her head back, smiling. “Unf…”

Clarissa kneels down next to you. “What happened?” she asks.

She groans, gritting her teeth. “Atrocitus… Manhunters…” She squeaks as a pulse of willpower shocks and sews together a cut. “Ah! Oui…!”

You look to her. “She’s not in any condition to talk.”

Clarissa and Chaselon hop onto the lip of the crater, brandishing their rings. “In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil is going to walk in the morning when I’m through with you metallic dickbags!” The Manhunters fly up and then land several dozen yards away. “Come on, Chaselon, let’s go!”

Red Tornado lands down in front of them before they can attack. “Leave it to me!” They stay back to allow Red Tornado to work. She starts twirling up hands and arms, and then around her forms of an ethereal glowing wind of some kind. She projects it forward, blasting the Manhunters back and smashing them to pieces.

Clarissa stands there. “What.”

“It appears Red Tornado’s ability extends to the localized solar winds within the area!” says Chaselon. “Amazing!” He looks upwards. “More of them coming!” The trio fly off to deal with them, leaving you with Cherry.

“That giant automaton creature terrifies me.”

The Manhunter turns his head up to see Napoleon and Marshall Michel Ney atop the crater, standing upon great green horses. Marshall Ney leans over, explaining, “It is a Manhunter. One of the finest robots in the universe, and built by the Guardians themselves.”

Napoleon nods, sitting there in his grey overcoat and his simple bicorne. “That may be… that may be…” He huffs. “But we’ll match it with our cuirassier.”

And at that, a whole troop of horses gallops up to the crest, drawing swords. “Charge!” Marshall Ney and company charge down the crater, swords held high as the Manhunter steps back. He blasts and shoots, knocking riders off their horses, but the distance is too short. They connect, slashing his non-golden parts with swords and slicing them to pieces.

When the cavalry leave, the Manhunter is nothing more than a pair of arms, a chest, and a head. It crawls up to you, and you drag Cherry away to safety.

The Manhunter is pinned to the ground by a foot. It turns its head around to see Robin Hood, Pancho Villa, the Mad Trapper of Rat River, and Arsene Lupin. “Look what we got here, boys,” says Arsene. “Seems this poor creature has been lamed in some fight!”

Robin Hood nocks an arrow back. “I’ll put him out of his misery.”

“Hey, hey!” Pancho Villa knocks Robin Hood aside. “I’ll take care of it!” He draws a revolver and cocks it.

The Mad Trapper however simply picks up a rock and then drops it down on the Manhunter’s head. It smashes to pieces, and the rest of the body goes limp as a noodle at that. Arsene Lupin looks at him. “Ah, very good there, Monsieur.” He picks up a bit of gold from the Manhunter’s head. “VERY good there, Monsieur…”

Alright, enough self-indulgence. They all fade away and disappear.

Clarissa and Chaselon come back. “Everything okay!?” yells Clarissa.

> “Where’s Red Tornado!?”

You notice the absence of someone very important. “Where’s Red Tornado!?” You run up to them, climbing up the crater walls then getting up with them. “Where is she!?”

Clarissa points outwards to see Red Tornado absolutely destroying everything. Her powers to control solar wind allow her to disintegrate Manhunters left and right, crush them against the floor, or even send them sailing back into space. She’s a natural!

Finally, the last Manhunter goes down to a blast of energy. It separates in two, completely halved at the waist. You all run up to her, and she pants heavily. “Whoo…” She leans over, resting on her knees. “Ugh.”

“That- was amazing!” you yell.

She nods, her helmet not showing off a good smile or two. “Great!” She leans over, still panting. “’cuz I don’t think I can do it again.”

“How’s Cherry?” asks Clarissa.

You nod. “Fully healed.”

“What shall we do now?” asks Chaselon.

Cherry sits in the lounge of Monsieur Bruce Wayne’s summer home, clothed in a heavy blanket and with a nice cup of hot cocoa in her hands. You and Clarissa sit on either side of her, while Red Tornado sweeps up the floor. Chaselon meanwhile assists her by dusting the shelves and the windowsills as well.

“So what’s the story?” asks Clarissa. “How’d that happen? I thought you were buddy buddy with the big robots.”

“I was,” says Cherry. “But something has changed. Atrocitus refuses to come out of his headquarters and Legion apparently speaks for him now.” She sighs deeply, then takes a sip of the cocoa. “Hm, this cocoa, who made this?”

You point to Clarissa. “She did.” You smile. Maybe this’ll be a good starting point for a friendship between the two!

Cherry turns to Clarissa, who happily awaits Cherry’s word. “Your cocoa is terrible.”

“You what!?” Clarissa takes the cocoa from her, then takes a deep swig. She heaves, then spits it back into the cup. “Ugh! Wow, you’re right, that does suck.” She hands it back to Cherry, who looks at it disgustedly. “Jeez, I need to learn how to make that stuff.”

“So Legion has taken over the Red Lanterns?” you ask.

“For the time being,” says Cherry. She places the cocoa on the coffee table. “I am a fugitive in my own Corps for daring to speak out against Legion’s rule.” She growls, the cup starting to squeeze as her fist tightens around it.

I know you're angry and we're angry too, but this is totally not our place and Monsieur Wayne will be very angry if we get hot cocoa all over his stuff.

That said, what can we do about this?

Do you think something has happened to Atrocitus, that he won't show his face anymore? Legion might be up to something dirty. Tell us everything you know, and we'll figure out something.
>>
>>37132942
"You're a Red Lantern. Couldn't you just powerfuck him into the ground with your red lance?"

I don't really know how else to say it.
>>
>>37133105

It's pretty obvious Legion just locked Atrocitus somewhere away once he found out Legion was actually using the Manhunters and/or the attack was happening soon so that Atrocitus WOULD find out about the Manhunters. That way he can use the Red Lantern Corps to his own designs without much complaint, since the Manhunters issue isn't something that's well-known at all.

Thanks, Guardians. You're amazing. Surely muting every single voice of dissent and anything you've ever done wrong will never come back to bite you again.
>>
>>37133088
That is the joke.

>>37133159
I hope the Professeur kills them here too
>>
>>37133159
The last time we saw Cherry, we were repelling the Manhunters from Gemworld. According to her, Atrocitus agreed to the tag-team with the Manhunters for now. Only afterward would he properly dismantle the Manhunters for his vengeance.

In a move that surprised absolutely no one, it backfired.

You take the cup away from her. “Don’t break it here. You’re still recovering. Plus, Monsieur Bruce Wayne will not like that?”

Cherry tilts her head, confused. “Who the hell is Bruce Wayne?” What?

“Look, I know you’re angry,” you say as you place the cup on the table. “But we can help you. What can we do though, that is the question.” You lean back, nodding to her. “Just tell us what you need, the Green Lantern Corps will provide any assistance necessary.”

Cherry grunts. “First off, I haven’t any idea of where Atrocitus is. All I know is that Legion said he would show him a place he always wanted, and that was after we came back from Gemworld. For all we know, Atrocitus is dead and we have no way to communicate with the other Red Lanterns.” She sighs. “They all blindly follow his lead, even if it is with Legion’s voice.”

“So you want us to go bash a few heads, maybe free Atrocity while we’re at it?” asks Clarissa.

“His name’s Atrocitus,” says Cherry.

“Right, Atroci-Lenin.” You both look at her dumbly. Is that a thing with her? “That’s what we’re doing, right?”

“Can you do it?” asks Cherry. “I will not ask more of you if you don’t think you can.”

Let's see if we can't get any help from our other friends, like the JSA and/or JLU. Even if they can't spare manpower, any magic-assisted scrying or other stuff like that would be a great help here.

Plus, they'd totally want to know how a future apocalypse situation could be potentially averted and all that junk

You nod. “We can. If we can liberate the Red Lanterns, we might even gain a potential ally in the fight against Legion as well. Our first task will have to be saving Atrocitus though.”

“Right,” says Clarissa. She yawns. “But you know, can we do it like tomorrow?”

You narrow your eyes at Clarissa. “This is important, Clarissa. We-“

“Actually, I must agree with your giant-breasted friend,” says Cherry in a manner so blunt you could use the sentence as a mace. Clarissa blushes intensely, suddenly at a loss for words. “I am very tired. I used up much of my energy trying to escape from the Manhunters, and unfortunately I did not have the foresight to bring with me a Power Battery. I am afraid I am restricted to just flight and a protective aura.”

You sigh. “Of course.”
