In regards to more slaves, there are elves to the south who for the last several years faced no threat from the north due to the simple fact that the orcs in the north kept each other too busy to bother anyone else.

Odds are elves with their long lives still are aware that this could cahnge quickly, but regardless of their long memories pure necessety is likely to have made the redirect resources away from defending against orc raids from the north.

As long as they're still unaware of us sorting this out, we can capitalize on this and simultaneously show the Stormhowlers and Goatfotts first hand the benefits of not wasting all your time fighting other orcs.

Once the elves get harder to raid, we can then move north again, recruit the last orcs and raid some humans, harpies or whatever until we finally feel confident enough to tackle either the Abyssals or the dragon.

We could also try taking out either of those before we go human raiding, but I'm very much not keen on waging war against an enemy instead of taking advantage of the elven window of opportunity or bolstering our ranks by an entire additional clan.

I say we see how things are tomorrow, hopefully no murders took place, then we can go prod the elven lines a bit, if we find a smaller settlement we can take in whole that's good, or at least see how the jungle is like.
If it's not simple enough, we go back north, meet up with the happenings there, see about redirecting resources, then go north, take in the Skyhunter clan, raid some humans NOT under the dragon, and kill the Abyssals.
I think Zul'orok Zhar's blessing also protects from magic in general? Even if not, we'd get the blessing from wipig out abyssal worshipper,s (almost certain) and get more experience.

We have a chance to get steel weapons.

Ask the ogre witches about mineral sources. If there are any, tell her to find:

A)Copper, If found copper, tell her to find zinc and whatever else that's needed to make bronze.
B)Iron, if she can find iron, ask her to find coal as well.

Ask her how high temperatures she can make in the ground and if making a high-temperature furnace is a thing she can magic out.

THEN. If all goes well, make yourself new axe. Since you are a trollslayer, quench the blade in troll blood and then go fuck the dragon over. Make the blade taste its first blood on it.

OR. Be a baller as fuck and quench the blade IN the dragon's blood. I'm pretty sure that either option will give us some bonus baller points to some god. Just as finding the ores and making a use of them in the furnaces.

“I have no shortage of enemies. What do you know about the Tonguerippers?”

You get a slight frown from the old man, crinkling his wrinkled features. “I know of them. Some of my newer clanmates have even fought them. The tonguerippers destroyed some clans to the west of us, the Lionhunter and Dustreaver Clans, the survivors fled east, some joined us, I think some joined the Stormhowlers as well, it helped to bolster our numbers.”

“Well if you want this old orc's advice, I'd recommend more raiding and trying to gather up some more clans right now, nothing keeps hotblooded young orcs distracted from feuds like a good fight, and something to fuck at the end of it.”

“A little, we were too busy to raid them properly, though we made a few forays to get wood for weapons and other things. The elves up on the northern edge of the jungle are mostly small settlements, perhaps a few larger and more dangerous ones, but your biggest threat would be the elves alerting the larger enclaves to the south. A few minor raids won't provoke a full-scale response, just some toughening up of the border when the elves get around to it, and elves get around to things slowly. If you start rampaging through all their northern settlements, they'll react in force, and that would be fatal for us.”

Well, for ores, the mountains would be a good bet. Provided you could avoid Slaagyr's notice or set up a fortified enough mining camp to keep his minions out you could probably start gathering some valuable ores, especially since the ogresses could use magic to sense them.

For furnace making, once you have some reasonable supplies of stone and wood it would be easy enough to sort out a furnace, Or'zag knows enough about operating one and could teach others.

“Anything happen while I was away?”

As tempting as it is to drag Ya'zada back to your tent right now and have your fun, you are the chieftain. You don't want to leave the stormhowlers and goatfoots to start killing each other while you're busy fucking.

The fortifications can't fit the full extent of your new clan, that much is obvious. A full two-thirds of them will have to stay outside of the raised area, most likely the Stormhowlers and the Goatfoots since you doubt your already set-up clanmates will want to move to make room for the newcomers.

The ground is actually rocky badland in the wastes with some areas of sand, the "mound" the ogresses made for you is actually solid rock, so it's not something the stormhowlers and goatfoots can really improve upon.

“We will be going on raids soon, but for now I want all of the orcs outside the fortification working on improving it. Zo'rok, I want you to get the former goatfoots to work on setting up some proper traps around the camp, and be sure to draw up proper maps while you do it, I don't want any surprises. Dru'ak, take the stormhowlers out hunting, or just keep them sparring. I want both groups doing something useful, and too busy to think about killing each other.”

Your two old friends nod.

That's that done, hopefully there won't be too many issues with it. Everyone seems happy enough, except Ya'zada, but she hasn't seemed all that happy at all since the duels, giving Or'kug the occasional evil eye with one hand noticeably on her axe.

You take a few moments to enjoy watching her walk away before you turn your attention to less enjoyable matters. Juk'ruk. You had kind of hoped he'd be some nightweird's dinner by now, but apparently fate isn't that kind to you.

Sighing, you head for the center of the camp, where Juk'ruk is standing sullen as ever, the mangled remnants of a nightweird's head on the ground next to him, or as close to a head as the strange creatures have. For his part, Juk'ruk looks mostly unharmed, a few scrapes and bruises, but it doesn't look like he had too much trouble.

“You came back,” you state, keeping your voice neutral.

“I did. I would like to apologise for my behavior, chieftain. Losing my power has been... an adjustment, but I do not wish to disgrace the clan. I hope that with this offering I have proven that I am still a warrior worthy of the Stonetusk name.”

The venom seems to be out of his voice, or hidden at least, and he is apologising. So what now?

You see Inka over in her usual corner, she looks less frightened than before, but you can't really say she looks any more comfortable, instead she just looks miserable. That's a matter for another time though, right now Ya'zada is your only concern.

The one-eyed orc sets the cup as you enter, giving you a sultry grin, stretching out on the furs.
