Hey again! This will be a shorter thread (but I will try to update faster) but today is a good enough opportunity to finish last night’s scene. Here’s hoping that there’s only about 6 more threads before we end Season 1: Jay City!

Grey just captured the Rotom, ending its rampage through the giant, newly-constructed body it formed from ship wreckage. Now? Now it’s time to survive the consequences of this action, one way or another.

Surf’s up, dude!

Your name is Grey and you are an aspiring Pokemon Trainer.

You're also currently strapped to the carcass of a multiple-stories-tall monstrosity that, up until a few moments ago, was powered by a supercharged Rotom. As of now, there's currently nothing powering the beast or keeping it together.

And it's falling apart around you.

To your left is your Scyther, Grim, who is working his way through the wires and scrap that restrain him and shackle him to the wall of the giant's mouth.

Nearby are a chainsaw, barely within reach, and a Pokeball newly containing a Rotom.

The whole thing is falling apart around you. Escape is paramount, here. You...

A few short, strained breaths later and you've managed to grit your way past the pain lancing wracking your body. You reach out with your left hand and find your trusty saw: sleek, deadly, and powerful. You rev it with a squeeze of the handle, and point it towards the wires holding your right arm down.

Cut, cut, cut!

Your torso mostly free you work on your legs. Grim is having some trouble getting his wings free, so you give him a reassuring work or two before running over. Meanwhile, the decomposition of the structure accelerates: you narrowly dodge a chunk of a steel beam that falls through the bottom of the giant's mouth, tunneling through its neck, shoulder, and finally landing on the ground below with a "thud!"

You swear as you look over Grim. He's a bit beaten up but nothing too serious. He seems comfortable enough so you swing up and onto his back, thanking him and trying your best to scratch his neck in a grateful manner. Then you point him towards the exit.

He starts into a jog.

The mouth is closing, now. The whole support system collapsing around you and materials choking off the faint light coming from outside; you spur Grim on faster and he surges forward. You're so close!

The mouth closes all the way.

>98!

Grim flashes his wings out, giving him a burst of speed, and pulls his body into a ramming position. He hits the "teeth" of the giant and you both burst through into the cold might air! You're free!

...And you're falling.

You grip onto Grim with as many of your muscles as you can coordinate while helplessly-falling-towards-the-ground ohmygod.

Breathe. Breathe.

Pushing the fear out of your mind you realize that Grim's having a hard time maneuvering his wings. You shift back carefully and press yourself flat, enabling him to beat harder and somewhat slow your descent. Unfortunately, the ground is still rapidly approaching and you're going way too fast...!

There's a flash of light, and then a large, stony figure appears before you.

"Golurk! Hover! Catch them!"

The figure settles into a deep stance before pushing off, rising to meet you and, surprisingly, managing to carefully catch you and Grim both in its mighty hands. "Catch" might not technically apply here, though, since Grim is thrashing and struggling about in confusion. More like the Golurk wrangled him in while trying to avoid slashes to the face.

The mighty Golem desceneds, you on one of its shoulders, and eventually the three of you come to a safe landing. You hop off, joining up with an older, squat Ranger and your friends. Everyone looks to be largely in one piece except for Nick, who's cradling his left arm.

"Grey!" Dani runs up, arms wrapping around you in a tight embrace.

The Ranger scoffs a bit, recalls the Golurk, and then asks you if "ya'll right?"

He then asks about what happened. When it comes your turn to talk, you:

You reciprocate Dani's hug, though a bit more gingerly than you normally would. Seriously, your whole body is sore!

You tell everyone you're okay and that you caught the Rotom. You ask after Nick and, apparently, some of the falling materials caught his side. His arm's probably broken, he thinks. It must be bad because he keeps howling every time Erica tries to set him up with a sling. Or he's just a big baby.

"Fuck you, Grey. I'm not a baby, just a victim of your penchant for stupid and dangerous."

"You're totally a baby."

The four of you explain what happened to the Ranger, you providing the most details including an overview of the battle up high and where you found the 'Mon in the first place. He promises to investigate and personally see to the dismantling of the ship, or at least most of it.

"Been thinking for years that this shit-heap death-trap would get some more kids killed. Y'know, more than usual..."

Yeah. Sure.

Unfortunately, the GoGoats left the scene with the expiration of the rental period. Also? Night is pretty much here, the sun obscured by clouds on the horizon to the West and bringing what little light remains to a dim glow that barely brushes the edges of the landscape ahead of you.

You talk it over with your friends. Nick's in pretty bad shape and could use some immediate medical care, even if only for his immediate comfort. The Ranger, still in your midst, offers to quickly transport, or in this case teleport, you all back to town. Nick immediately agrees, and you....

You accept the offer gratefully, the thought of trekking back to town anytime soon being washed away by relief.

The Ranger pulls a Ball off his belt, summoning up a Xatu. The bird shakes, stretches, and then quickly preens itself. The Ranger, meanwhile, closes his eyes and takes on the (as you have come to know) "mental communication" look. A moment later and the bird whistles through a soft melody while wrapping its wings about its body. The whistle melds into a song that isn't heard but understood in your mind: like a beautiful opera singer, a woman's voice weaves through an indecipherable Round, each turn of the song adding to its intricacies.

Your mind's eye focuses on... an image of this woman. Tall and fair, wearing almost shaman-like clothing and singing that eternal, beautiful song. You're enraptured...

And then it ends.

You snap out of it, coming back to reality and realizing, with some confusion, that you now stand in front of the Pokemon Center in Jay City. Dani and Erica are before you. Dani gives you a short wave but Erica still seems to be in the trance, crouched and staring at the floor. You wave a hand in front of her eyes and she comes awake with a start.

"Hocrap!" She turns her head about, scrabbling backwards on the sidewalk, while babbling. "Wherearewe-oh-itisthecenter-howdidweget-backhere!?"

You and Dani help Erica up, Dani giving her some pats on the back and checking her eyes' dilation real quick. You rub the heels of your hands over your temples, going over the imagery and song in your head a few times. That was so odd: the woman was the Xatu, right? A sort of mental image generated by the bird? Do all psychics do that when they teleport people?

"Have either of you teleported before, girls?"

They both say no, though Erica says that some of her family used to do so. She was always scared, so she stuck to flying or riding.

"Something about watching people disappear into a ring of light... And people, like, they... always --- ------!" Dani gives Erica little thump on the back of her head.

"Nobody can hear you when you mumble into your hands, Erica." Dani smiles down at your timid friend, and Erica smiles back, "I told you I'd get you to break that habit, didn't I?"

"Right." Erica nods and stands up, stretching a bit. "Yeah, but, uhm... People always look so eerie when they do it. Like zombies!"

"Dani? Erica? Where's Nick?" They both have mental hiccups at that, the realization turning into concern on Erica's face. She starts looking left and right, as if she missed him standing next to her.

You activate the automatic doors to the MedCenter, poking your head on through and spying Nick at the front desk. "Found him!" Erica noticeably relaxes.

"But anyways, did either of you hear that song? See the woman? You know, the... uh... birdwoman? The Xatu?"

They both nod and you all start discussing the phenomenon. Apparently warrants future research (on the internet, no doubt!)

>It's band-aid time, bitches!

Between getting everyone's teams healed and getting checked out yourselves it's two hours deeper into the night before you finally find everyone back in tip-top shape. Nick's arm was stim'd and healed up for the most part, with some soreness and waiting time all that remains between him and full recovery.

>>>>

You had quite a bit of time, personally, to yourself while everyone was getting taken care of by the medical staff. Aside from getting something to eat and cleaning yourself up a bit there wasn't much to do, so you turned to the internet. Looking up "psychics" "mental images" and "pokemon looking like people" you found some... interesting thing. Rule 34, bitches.

The better, more useful parts of the web revealed to you that certain Pokemon with Psychic capabilities, for a variety of reasons, make an effort to either appear mentally as looking more human or simply manipulating perception to appear human in the real world. Some advanced psychics are said to be capable to bending light itself, but you're not so sure.

So, you reckon that the Xatu was trying to appear more human. You're not sure why... That would take talking to it yourself. You do get an idea, though: does Mittens ever think of appearing more "human?" Why would a Pokemon want to do that?

Medical ministrations completed, you collect your team and feel much better yourself (albeit pretty tired).

Okay, for Q and A:

How sharp, exactly, are Grim's scythes? Are we talking weeaboo's version of a katana, well-sharpened cleaver, or rusty farming tool?

Is there any way to communicate with that Rotom WITHOUT risking it getting into our Deck or - heaven forbid - our chainsaw?

Could you give us a sort of approximation of our team's levels, in game terms? And do those actually have any meaning here?

Lastly: Double battle involving FLYING PSYCHIC BOOST ATTACK OF GLORIOUS MAJESTY when?

Brownie Points scene: When the jackass baby-puncher cheats Dani. Mittens pops out of her ball in righteous fury and makes the guy spill not only his mind-waffles, but the syrup, butter, oranges, and plate as well.

Sharp enough to know why kids love cinnamon toast crunch. (SASS level set to BRUTAL)

>Is there any way to communicate with that Rotom WITHOUT risking it getting into our Deck or - heaven forbid - our chainsaw?
Modern technology is generally protected, and there's also the added benefit of having a working Pokeball with which to recall him quickly (at least you hope so). If I did not allude to the first point already like I thought I did then I apologize.

>Could you give us a sort of approximation of our team's levels, in game terms?
Most 'Mons are going to be between 10-20 at this point, with your most used being closer to 20. It doesn't have too much meaning, really.
