You are Nina Tuckemby, a sixteen year-old sophomore student at Scarridge High.

...

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

You wake with a start, and flail at your phone in an attempt to silence it. Jesus - why did you set the alarm to maximum volume it's 7 in the fucking morning
Someone on the other side of the thin metal wall that divides the dorms complains, and you hear the faint thud of a pillow being thrown at the wall.

Oh well. Late to bed, early to rise, makes a girl healthy and wise. Something like that.
You manage to gather the willpower to force yourself away from your nice warm bed, and into the cold and unforgiving main room of your dorm.
You make yourself a meagre breakfast of cornflakes and think about what you need to get done today.

You need to attend the tankery assembly, and try and get there early to get the best chance of getting onto the team.
You could also do with talking to Kate and Jess to see if you could get them on board with being part of the crew.

You check the school alerts system. Looks like the assembly is starting at 11:00AM. Gives you a few free hours.

Did we get a good reason for them not doing tankery? I mean, if we manage to get a spot, they could at least try it out...

Being the whole crew.
>>
>>37064472

You head back to your bedroom and check your phone. No texts.

You think back to the events of the previous night. It's a shame that neither Kate nor Jess fancied tankery.
Now you think about it though, Jess said she'd love to do it, but she didn't think she was cut out for it. Poor girl, she's always had self esteem issues. Maybe if you talk to her you could bring her around.
If you get her on board, Kate would probably join too.

You open up your messages and start to send Emily a text, but decide against it. She's probably not the sort you'd want to bring on a mission to convince a sensitive person.

...

You find yourself outside of dorm 1913, Jess' dorm. She only lives a few doors down from you, but now you think on it you haven't really ever visited her dorm - you all usually go to Kate's.

...

Alright, i've knocked like five times now Jess wake the fuck up
You give the door a final solid whack, and hear a startled yelp on the other side, and the sound of a chain being placed on a latch.
The door cracks open a tad, and Jess' tired yet afraid eyes lock with yours through the gap.

"Nina, it's like half seven! Why are you ready so early? And why the hell were you knocking that hard? You sounded like a serial killer!"

"Rude." You reply, before jamming your hand in the gap and sliding the chain off yourself, before opening the door the full way and inviting yourself in.
"I'm here because I wanted to talk to you about joining the tankery team with me and Emily."

"Oh, Nina, you know I said I'm not cut out for it." She moans.

"How do you know? You've never tried it before!" You point out. "You've got just as much experience as I have."

"But I'm not strong or anything; I'd be useless."

"You don't have to be strong for some of the jobs in a tank -- only really the driver or the loader."

"I don't have any real tank-related skills though."

"Sure you do, you've got good hand-eye coordination, and you can judge distances pretty well. Think about last night, you managed to pull off that trick with the grappling hook!"

"...I guess I did."

"You might make a decent gunner!"

"I still don't know, Nina."

"Hey, why not just give it a shot? You've got nothing to lose, after all." You offer her your hand.

"...Alright, I'm in." She gives a quick nod, and shakes your outstretched hand.

"Great!" You beam at her. That wasn't so hard. Onto the next, you suppose. "We're going to go and see Kate now, alright?"

...

You've been knocking on Emily's door for close to ten minutes now.

"I don't think she's in," Jess says as she peers through the dorm's window, "We might as well just go and see Kate ourselves."

You grumble internally. This might be harder than you expected. Where could Emily be at eight in the morning anyway?

...

You arrive at Kate's house. To your collective suprise, you find the door is already unlocked.

"Hello?" You and Jess poke your head through the door.
Inside, you see Emily and Kate, both sat on the sofa, looking back at you with a wide-eyed expression.

"Did I leave the door unlocked? Whoops!" Emily is the first to speak up.

"Oh, hi. I guess you're here for the same reason Emily is?" Kate asks, followed by a sigh.

"Depends. Is she here to talk about tanks?"

"Yep!" Emily answers for Kate.

"How are we going to handle her?" Jess whispers.

"We'll tug on her heart strings." You whisper in response.
"Look, Kate. I managed to convince Jess to join, and now you're the only one of our little crew who isn't feeling up for it.
Trust me, the three of us all want to try out Tankery, but without you it just wont be the same! We'll be one sandwich short of a picnic, one card short of a deck, a pea short of a-"

"Alright, enough metaphors, Nina." Jess hisses.

"Yeah, sorry. Anyway, Kate, what we're all trying to say is that we won't enjoy it without you!"

You all look at Kate expectantly. She looks back at you all, her gaze lingering on each of your faces for a few seconds.

"Alright. I guess there's nothing to lose."

You and Jess grin, and Emily embraces Kate in a tight, involuntary hug.

You check out your watch. Ten o'clock. You should probably get going if you want to get to the assembly early.

...

It's ten-thirty, and you and your friends are stood in the courtyard of the Tankery Grounds.
The tankery sheds seem to be occupied, with a couple of the big shed doors raised. The team's tanks are assembled out front, and you see the three covered objects, still at the back of the sheds. The large one has had it's tarp replaced after the events of last night.
You try and identify the crews there, but you don't recognise anyone apart from That Bitch, and the Tankery team leader who is walking around concerned with

Eh. The leader looks busy, and you'd really rather not talk to Julia, because she's a bitch and she'll probably stop you from getting onto the team or something.
You look at the other crews that are present. They're all busy polishing up their tanks in one way or another, making them presentable for the assembly. A few crews seem to just be sitting and talking though, and they seem friendly enough.
Maybe if you talk to them they'll help you get onto the team - and it's always nice to meet new people, anyway.

One team is sitting in their M4 Sherman, just chatting. You don't know the exact model of the Sherman.

Another is putting away their various tools and implements that they'd been using to clean up their SU-85 tank destroyer.

Finally, the third team has just finished putting the tracks back on their... what the heck is that? You've never seen anything like that before.

That is a really weird tank. What is it?

...

Yeah, nah. Your curiosity won't hold for this long.

"Come on, let's go and talk to that team." You beckon to your friends.

You walk over and give a little wave. One of the crew notices, and draws the rest's attention towards you and your friends.

"Hi!" You start.
...And that's all you've got. Damn! This is going to get awkward fast unless you-

"Oh, hi Emily!" A crew member calls from the back end of the tank.

"Hi!" Emily responds in kind. "So this is the tank you always talk about?"

"Yep! Hungarian 44M Tas! Beautiful machine, ain't she?"

"It sure is big!" Emily looks in awe at the tank.

Huh. You've never heard of this tank before. It looks a bit like a Panther, but not quite.

"So, you two know eachother?" You pipe up.

"Yep!" they both reply at the same time, before sharing a giggle.
"This is Sarah," Emily explains, "We're in the same Drama class!"

"And this is the rest of my crew," Sarah turns to the rest of the crew by the tank.
"Ella Bailey, gunner; Kayleigh Hunter, Driver; Isabel Cook, Loader; and last, but not least Maya Carr, the commander!"
They all give a wave, and Maya begins to talk.

"What are you four doing here already? The assembly starts in about twenty minutes."

"We were wondering if we could find out what the assembly was actually about before it happened." Alright. She doesn't suspect anything about last night.

"That's a secret! Though we think a spy might have already found out what our secret is. Actually, on that note-" She pulls out a poster with a puffy brown haired, brown eyed asian girl on it. "-Have you seen this girl?"

You all shake your heads in response.

"Damn. We'll catch her one day!"
>>
>>37066705

"We heard some rumours that you're looking for new crews and we were wondering whether you could put in a good word for us?" You propose.

Emily chimes in, "You'd do that for us, right, Sarah?" before flashing her a winning smile.

"I don't see why not. Maya, are you alright with this?" Sarah adresses her commander.

"If you're good with Sarah, you're good with me." She winks at Sarah, who giggles in reply. "I'll see what I can do."

...

It's 11:00 now, and the courtyard is mostly full of students. You and your friends are at the front of the assembly, along with most of the tankery fans. The girls who aren't really interested congregate at the back and talk to eachother absently.
You notice the team leader step up onto her podium, and turn on her microphone. The shrill squeal of feedback fills the air for a couple of seconds. You notice the speakers themselves are mounted on a Valentine tank next to the podium.
>>
>>37066719

"Girls of Scarridge High! I am Katherine Misty, leader of the famous Tankery team! I see plenty of new faces in the crowd today, which is excellent because boy, do we have good news for you! Recently, as you all know, we were forced away from port in the USA by storms. However, every storm cloud has a silver lining! We arranged a match with a British team, which has triggered a series of events and earned us some brand new sponsorships from Britain!"
The tankery team all clap and cheer from their tanks, and a wave of excitment spreads amongst the audience. You see Emily is transfixed by Katherine's speech.
"We have decided to invest in three brand new tanks! Ladies and Ladies, prepared to be amazed!"
The hype builds in the audience, Emily has now started whistling and bouncing on her toes. Even Kate seems to be picking up the excitement.
"Firstly!"
A crew whips the tarp away from the smallest object.
"The Light Tank Mark Seven, 'Tetrach'!"
The tank engine burst into life, and quickly accelerates out of the hangar and positions itself in front of the crowd, illiciting cheers from the crowd. The school orchestra has started playing a tune you recognise to be The British Grenadiers.
"Secondly!"
A second crew reveals the second tank.
"The T-34/57!"
The slightly larger Russian tank kicks into action with a growl, and begins to move towards the crowd as it elevates its main gun. More cheers, louder this time, Emily is completely swept away and even Kate is clapping. The orchestra has started playing Echelon's Song.
"And finally - last but not least - The heavy tank, M6!"
The tank is revealed, and the four of you gasp. That was the tank you found last night!
>>
>>37066745

"Now! These tanks don't just drive themselves! We're going to be needing three brand new crews! The sign up booth is over to my left!"

You notice the small tent. Don't think it's going to be big enough for everyone.

"Good luck girls - and remember, Scarridge Forever!"

The crowd cheers, and begins to break apart.

You turn to Emily, Kate and Jess. "Alright, we need to pick fast, or we're not going to get to choose at all. What are we riding?"

"You should choose, Nina. You're the one getting us all into this." Kate says. Emily and Jess nod in agreement.

The M6 never even saw combat, though, and for the very good reason of heavy tanks being impractical. With the T-34 we could at least look forward to getting it up-gunned, but in the M6 we're easy target practice.

Both the Tetrarch and the M6 are a bit shit, the tetrarch having a weak gun and not much armor, and the M6 being slightly smaller than the average warehouse, an excessive number of crewmembers, not enough armor to make up for it's size, and a terribly average gun. T-34 is a happy medium between the two.

Thanks for the update, glad to hear some common sense and intelligence won out.

Random thoughts, anons which variant/upgrades do you think we should first look into for the 34/57? I'm thinking the Mod 1943 upgrade with the new turret and improved 57mm gun and new ammo, then we can work towards the 34/85(D5T)
>>
>>37067463
Fair enough, I felt that we could have picked a different tank though, we got two obsolete tanks and a tank hunter so I felt we were kind of stuck on our pickings.
>>
>>37067548
Well theres a lot of versatility and adaptability in the T-34, and it can be upgraded, whereas the Tetrarch is kind of stuck being outdated and the M6, while it has the A1 upgrade, is still hugely unwieldy, there is a reason they cancelled its project

"The T-34. It's maneuverable, well armoured, and it has a crew of 4. Come on!"

You all hurry over to the tent, followed by a small crowd. You weren't quite the first there, a group of three short girls, presumably freshmen, beat you to the tent.

"And you'd like to drive the..." The girl at the desk asks.

"The Tetrarch!" One of the three excitedly replies. The other two chatter about how much they're looking forwards to riding a tank.

You look at your friends. Emily is beaming back at you, obviously pleased and excited to get into a tank. Jess is chatting with Emily, and has a bright expression on her face. Kate is only listening to their conversation, and has a quiet smile on her face. She seems to be warming up to the idea of tankery.

...

Eventually the three in front finish their paperwork, and are led over to the Tetrarch. The girl at the desk calls you up.

"Names?" She asks. Short and to the point.

"Nina Tuckemby."

"Emily King!"

"Jessica Blake."

"Katherine Archer."

The girl works quickly, writing down your names. "And you'd like to drive the..."
Jesus, she's almost robotic.

"We're interested in the T-34."

She draws a strike through T-34.
"Alright." She turns in her seat. "Someone show these girls to the T-34/57!" She turns back to you. "One moment, and good luck."
A tall, fair haired girl comes over.

"Hello. I'm Ella Evans, commander of our team's M4a1 Sherman. If you'd like to follow me."
She seems nice. A softly spoken girl, tall, fair haired and shapely, too.

She leads you over to your new vehicle. "This is the T-34/57. Would you like a breif run down?"

"Yep." You answer.

"Alright. The tank is pretty well armoured. You're looking at 45mm of armour on the front, and 40 on the sides and rear. All sloped, as you can see."
>>
>>37067522
There was a different model of the 57mm, First time I heard of it.

I knew and research the differences of the T-34s back in the first GUP quest.

.>>37067585

I know that it's just that I wanted to do something different?
>>
>>37067657

You place a hand on the front of the tank and give a it a knock. Feels solid enough. Jess and Kate have wandered around to look at the gun, and Emily has hopped up onto the engine deck.
"That gun will put a hole in up to 110mm of armour at a distance of 100m. It's a pretty nice cannon."

She turns to look at Emily. "And under where you are standing is the engine. 450 horsepower. It'll push you along at 49km an hour. That's faster than most tanks."

She begins to turn away. "I'll let you four familiarise yourselves with the vehicle and choose roles. Training starts in an hour."

"Thanks!" Emily calls after her.

You turn to look at your friends - or rather, your crew, now.

"I suppose we should be picking roles. Is everyone alright with me being the commander?"

"I don't see why not," Jess looks to Kate and Emily, "You know plenty about tankery, and you're the one who got us into this."

"Fine by me." Kate adds, and Emily simply nods.

"Good! Now, we need a Loader, a Driver and a Radio Operator."

"I honestly don't know what I'd be any good at." Kate says.

"Me neither." Jess adds, and Emily pulls an awkward face indicating she had no clue.

"Perhaps it's best you chose? I mean, you know the most about tankery."

Ah, shit.
The T34/57 has a dual function commander, doesn't it? The commander is the gunner.
I guess we could try and let Jess gun, but command from the loader's position.

Jess is accurate, so she could gun
We're fairly strong because of midnight pushups, so we could handle loading

Kate is calm and collected so might make a good driver

Emily is too hyper to control machinery so we can let her operate the radio

>>
>>37067758
Should be, historically the T-34/57 was a stop gap when the T-34/76 was starting to face heavier german tanks so they installed earlier model of the T-34 with the 57mm has a type of tank destroyer/hunter.

At least that is what I think it was the case.
>>
>>37067765
Well last thread/start of this one we found out that Jess is pretty good at throwing stuff so she might make a good gunner.

Because of what >>37067800 said, we will have to command from turret, so we have no other option than loader.

Emily is fairly chatty so radio operator.

and Kate might as well function as driver.

I guess we won't really know until we see how they perform in practice.
>>
>>37067868
First arrangement/plan never survive enemy contact.
>>
>>37067867
The 57mm gun did not require two dedicated crewmen to operate it, so they used the smaller 1940/41 turret initially.

Later on with the Mod 43 upgrade they gave it the 1943 T-34 turret to improve its capabilities and survivability, but still used a crew of 4.
>>
>>37067682

"Now, I'm going to have to do two jobs because this thing only has a two man turret."

You address Jess. "You're pretty accurate, I mean, in terms of hand eye coordination, and judging distances. Normally I'd have to operate the gun, but I think it's best if you handle that for now."

"I'll do my best - At least it isn't too physically demanding." Jess nods, satisfied.

"I'll handle loading then, because as commander I really should be up in the turret. We'll work out how to handle the issue with the optics later."

"What am I doing?" Emily asks from atop the turret, legs dangled over the side.

"You're going to be the radio operator. I figure you're chatty enough. Also, you're in charge of that machine gun."
Emily's eyes light up. You can tell she's going to be itching to fire that later.

"Alright!" She seems happy enough, and begins working open the hatch on the turret to climb inside the tank.

"And finally, Kate, you could be our driver. You're calm, collected - hopefully you'll be able to handle the stress of battle."

"Hopefully." She replies.

You hear a metal thud, as Emily hinges open the hatch, and climbs inside. You hear banging and a little yelp of pain and she works her way through the interior.

Jess and yourself follow Emily through the turret and adopt your positions within. You find your seat on the right of the gun, and Jess on the left. The seats aren't particularly comfortable, but what do you expect from a tank?
You hear Jess outside, struggling to open the small hatch on the front of the tank.

"Emily, try pushing the hatch from the inside, give her a hand." You ask.

With their combined effort, Jess and Emily crack open the hatch, and Jess climbs into her seat as the driver.

Not long after you all settle in, someone bangs on the side of the turret. You poke your head out and see that it's M4 commander, Ella, from earlier.

"We're going to have to learn how to get this thing moving to do anything, so I suppose we need to learn to drive."

"Sounds alright to me." Kate calls up from the hull.

"Alright." Ella smiles at you. "I'd like you to follow the Sherman."

You recede into the turret and settle into your seat.

The radio crackles into life. "Ladies, start your engines!"

...

"I don't know how to start the tank."

Ah.

You crack open the hatch again, and pop out. Surely they should have told you this before expecting you to move.
You wave after the Sherman, and Ella appears from the turret roof.

"WHAT?!" She shouts over the noise of her engine.

"WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO START THE ENGINE!"

"YOU WONT START THE MENTIONS?!"

"NO, WE CA -" This isn't working. You gesture for her to kill the engine. She drops down into the tank, and the courtyard quickly falls silent again.

"WHAT?!" She calls

"WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO START THE ENGINE!" You inform her for the second time.

"I'LL SEND MY DRIVER NOW!"

The driver of the M4 clearly overheard your conversation, and begins to climb out of the tank. She checks with Ella breifly, who points at your tank. She hops off, and walks over quickly.

"Alright, what's the issue?" The short, black haired girl in dirty overalls asks.

"We don't know how to get moving." You explain.

She cracks open Kate's hatch, and after some breif explanations and demonstrations, Kate learns the basics of driving. The girl begins to depart, but before she does, you ask her name.

"Keira, Keira Townsend." She replies, before making her way back inside the tank.

The radio crackles into life again. "Alright, now, start your engines!"

Kate pulls the switch and presses the clutch, and the engine roars into life behind you. Jesus, that's really loud. You're going to have to shout in here just to be heard.
>>
>>37068783

You set off, following the M4 along the driving range. She leads you over a variety of surfaces, helping you get a feel for how your T-34 handles.
Kate is picking up the act well, despite her mostly clunky and inefficient driving peppered with stalling. All the rest of you are learning is how uncomfortable the suspension is at high speed across rough terrain.

Eventually, you are all back at the tankery courtyard, and Ella adresses you over the radio.

"Okay, commanders, we're going to move onto our next period of training. Any preference?"

You place your throat microphone to your neck, and begin to speak.

>>
>>37068856

You press your mic button.

"Command and control, please."

...

No response. It only now occurs to you that you have no idea how these radios work.
You pop your head out the hatch and yell over to Ella, who has remained halfway out of the turret for some reason.

"ELLA!"

"WHAT?!"

"HOW DO WE USE THESE RADIOS?!"

"COW CHEWS THESE RODEOS? WHAT?!"

"JUST, AH-" You signal for the engine to be cut, and yell for Kate to do the same.

"HOW DO WE USE THE RADIO?!"

"I'LL SEND MY SIGNALLER OVER NOW!"

The hatch on the top of the Sherman opens, and a black girl wearing a tanker's hat climbs out and over to your tank.

She demonstrates to your crew the use of the throat mic, how to use the tank's intercom, and shows Emily the basics of operating the radio set.
Soon, Emily learns to use the radio, and you perform a few excersises of passing messages inbetween the tanks, like a game of chinese whispers.

"Alright!" Elle calls in over the radio.
"We're going to go gunning now, but I'd like the commanders to handle the tank on the way there. There's a map in your turrets. Good luck!" She vanishes with a hiss of static.

You check your right, and find a small peice of laminated paper, detailing the tankery grounds. You quickly find a route to the range - it's just up the road and left.
You open your mic, and begin to instruct Kate, but quickly realise that you don't actually have any vision outside the tank bar the small window on your right.

> Solve the vision issue!
>>
>>37069215
Open the commander's hatch and stand up.
>>
>>37069215
Pop our hatch and crank our seat to the elevated position bringing our head just above the turret roof.
>>
>>37069215

Just opening the hatch is the easiest solution that I can think of now...

Having Jess use her periscope wouldn't really work because we're the commander and she wont get to do that in a battle.

We could try using a series of mirrors/tubes to let us use the periscope, but we don't have time.

tl;dr
>pop the hatch
>>
>>37069215
>> Solve the vision issue!
Open hatch.
Will it too unhistorical to install some cupola on our side?
>>
>>37069313
We could probably get away with installing a rotating periscope into our hatch or somethign similar, but our turret didn't have a cupola on it, the Mod 43 upgrade does though, so thats something to look forward to.
>>
>>37069388
Its on gunner side IIRC though.
I often see Captured T-34 on German services using Panzer III or IV cupolas, but i don't have idea yet which side of turret they installing them.
>>
>>37069454
yeah the germans liked putting PzIII/IV cupolas on KV-1's and T-34's they captured
>>
>>37069215

You reach up, and open the turret hatch, before locating a lever that allows you to move your seat. You manage to raise the seat to a position high enough that you can sit down and still look out the top of the turret.
Then you give yourself a mental high-five, because you're a genius.

You cue your intercom. "Alright, Jess, Forwards!"

...

You find yourself at the ranges after a short trip involving a stalled engine and a stop that caused the hatch to close shut on your head. As Jess soothes you and pats your head, the radio comes alive.
"Alright. Targets are to your front. 200m, 5 round groupings - in your own time, go on."
The voice isn't Elle's; sounds like an adult's. Must be range staff.

You sit up and look around the turret, and spot the pre-loaded 57mm ammunition on a rack to your right.
Vaguely remembering watching various tank documentaries, you have a good idea of how this whole deal works. You grab the shell, lift it out of the rack and oh jesus fuck me that's heavy goddamn
You strain and fumble as you try and work out the logistics of getting the shell into the breech but eventually you manage to slide it in. Sending it home with a swift push, you recoil your hand just in time to avoid the breech block closing on your fingers. You'll need to be careful of that thing , Jesus.

"Loaded!" You call out over the intercom, and you watch as Jess places her eye to the gunsight.

Carefuly, delicately, and almost expertly, you see her work the pair of cranks to adjust the gun. Once she's satisfied, she begins to pull the trigger, and you brace yourself.

BOOM!

The sound of the cannon firing reverberates around the inside of the turret, which fills with smoke and gas. You and Jess sit there, wide-eyed and out of breath, amazed at the power of the gun. Emily squeals in excitement, shouting "Oh my god! Oh my god!" repeatedly from her station.
Even Kate is astonished, and you hear her faintly "woohoo" from her seat.
>>
>>37069997

Next, you hear a loud metallic clang and the breech ejects the used shell to the floor of the turret.

That's your signal to load the new round. As you do so, Elle comes over the radio. "T-34, you're shooting way too low. Make sure you're setting your sights properly."
You send the round home into the breech, and turn to Jess who starts speaking over the intercom.

"I don't understand, I had the crosshairs right on it! Why didn't it hit?"

"You need to make sure you're shooting for two hundred! Check that you're firing on the 200 line in the optics!" You reply.

"Got it!"

A couple of seconds later, the gun fires again, causing the same reactions all around. You get the feeling that's never going to get old.

"Good work, T-34. That was a better shot. Bit too far to the left though. Keep it up."

Shortly, you'd expended your ammunition, and concluded training for the day. You drive back to the courtyard where Kate parks the T-34/57 in the sheds, before coming outside to join the rest of the team before Katherine.

"Alright, good work everyone. New teams, It's good to see that you're all finding your feet well enough. We'll be having a special dinner here tonight at 1900 hours as a welcome to our new crews, and you're all invited. Hope you can all attend. Team dismissed!"

You check your watch. 5 o'clock. That gives you and the girls some time to head home and get ready for the dinner tonight.

Aren't 57mm shells only three kilos? We seriously need to start lifting.

the projectile is only like 2.9kgs, the shell as a whole would be more than 5kgs in its case with propellant charge
>>

Well, you've still got a couple of hours to get ready, you might as well talk to whoever's still here.
You look around, and see Elle's crew, as well as the Tetrarch crew who are stood over by your tank, and the M6 crew who are cleaning a little mud off their tank. Most of the team has gone home to get changed, though.
They all seem friendly enough, so you might as well talk to one of them.

You decide to talk to the Ella and her crew, maybe they could have some advice for you.
As you walk over to the tank, Ella spots your crew approaching and waves.

"Hey, Nina."

"Hi, Ella," You respond. "We were wondering if you could give us a few tips about how we did in training."

"Oh, sure, no problem. Nina, I understand that you're the commander."

"Yep."

"Right. Well, I saw you in the loaders spot, sat out of the turret. That'll work fine whilst you're not actually in combat, but when you're in combat you're probably going to forced to button up. You should look into sorting out optics for yourself.

> NEW MISSION: Rig up some optics in the T-34.

"As for the rest of the crew, my crew can do that job." She turns to her driver.

"Yeaaah. Alright, you had some issues with stalling, right?" Keira addresses Kate.

"Oh. Yeah, that happened a lot. Sorry, Nina." You grumble in response, and rub the lump on your head.

"Yeaaah, about that. Just mind your gearing, and try and keep your revs up."

Kate nods and smiles. "Thanks, Keira."

"Which one of you is the gunner?" Jess asks.

"That'd be me. Harriet Lewis." A girl with long, dark hair and striking blue eyes speaks up from next to Ella. "You were the one shooting low, right?"

"Yeah." Jess looks a little ashamed.

"It's alright, just check your gun sights. There should be a small knob that allows you to adjust your crosshairs for range. It'll make it easier to keep a target."

"Thanks, Harriet." Jess replies.

"I guess that I'm up then, huh Ella?" The black girl speaks up. "Alright. I don't think I introduced myself last time. Tracee Gore, with two Es."
She turns to Emily.
"You're the radioman, aren't you? Alright. You need to turn up your radio power. There's a small knob on there. I'll point it out tonight at the dinner."
>>
>>37071253

"I think we're going to have to cut it off there," Ella cuts in. "We should all go home and get ready. Nice talking to you though."

"You too, Ella," You reply. "Thanks for the training, and the advice."

You and the crew set out back to the dorms.

You get three blank looks.

"Nina..." Jess starts.

"Nina, all of our clothes are out our dorms, not yours." Kate looks at you like you're a moron. You probably are a moron, to be fair.

"That just seems like a thinly veiled attempt to get some lesbian action goin' on, Nina!" Emily giggles.

"Yeah, yeah, alright. See you all there tonight."

...

A breif walk later and you're back at your dorm. You change out of your now dirtied casual clothes, and take a nice warm shower, emerging refreshed and nicely scented.

With that sorted, you slip on your high heels, and head off to the tankery courtyard.

As you arrive, you notice that basically all of the team seems to be here. The tankery sheds have been opened, and most of the tanks moved to one side to make room for various tables filled with buffet food.
Your crew are standing by your tank, and seem to be talking to the Tetrarch crew. You head over to join them.

"Hi, girls!"

They all turn as they become aware of your presence.

"How do I look?" Jess and Emily giggle, and Kate rolls her eyes at this old routine.

"Divine!" They say, though Kate is a little more deadpan.

"Is this some sort of routine?" One of the tall, Tetrarch crew girls asks.

"Yep!" You giggle. "We've been doing this ever since our first party we went to as friends!"

The three girls laugh. "That's cute as fuck," the tallest girl says. She's pretty hot. Tall, blonde and shapely at that. "Melissa Fry. Brand new commander of Billy. Nina Tuckemby, I assume?"

"You assume correctly! And you two are...?"

The flat chested, long brown haired girl on her left speaks up next.

"Freya Carey. I'm the gunner for the tank! Did you guys go to practice today? Oh, of course you did, we all did. Shooting was fun, wasn't it? The guns just sound awesome! And did y-"
The girl on the far right cuts her off.
>>

Thank god for that, Freya seems talkative to say the least.

"I'm Madison Bowen, nice to meet you, Nina. Sorry about Freya, she doesn't stop when you get her started." She pulls a smirk at Freya, who sticks her tongue out in retaliation.

Melissa starts talking again. "So, what year are you guys in? We're all Seniors."

"We're all Sophomores." Jess replies for you.

As you and the girls talk, you notice a growing hunger. No point coming to a dinner and not eating anything.
You look over at the tables. A huge assortment of food is there, being attended to and prepared by Keira.

Suddenly, as you reach for a mini cocktail sausage, another hand drifts in the way. Slowly, inevitably, like a train crash, you watch and curse yourself internally as your hand wraps around hers like a now-denied mini cocktail sausage.
Jesus - this is awkward.

You look up to see who you're now oh-so-tenderly embracing.

...

Oh god, it's Julia.
She stares back at you, wide-eyed, open-mouthed, and blushing.

"Uh, N-Nina. You're holding my hand there."

You whip your hand away to your side, and stand straight up.

She smiles up at you as she collects some food. "Nice to see that you finally made the team! I know you missed out last time."

Yeah, alright. RUB. IT. IN.

"But it's great that you're on the team now! I hope we do well together!" She beams back at you. You nod in return, then notice there's no cocktail sausages left. Bitch.

"Ah, hello Nina!"

The rest of the gathering turns their heads towards you, everyone smiling.

"Hi, Katherine. Nice to finally be a part of the team."

"And it's nice to have you with us! You and your crew here seem to be settling in well to your T-34/57 - did you know how much that thing cost the team?"

"No?"

"$60 grand." She winks at you, smirking.

Jesus, that's a lot of money!

"How much did we get from those sponsorships?" You ask in disbeleif.

"Enough, Nina! Enough to last us a while." She winks again. "Allow me to introduce you to my crew!"
"Firstly! Amelie Miller, my Gunner; Ellie Ellis, my Loader; Sienna Whitehead, my Driver; and finally, Katie Bartlett, my radiowoman!"

"Nice to meet you all!"

...

You spend the night, chatting and conversing with Katherine's crew, including a tour of her M4A6 Sherman, which was apparantly a rarity and only saw it's first combat through tankery.
Eventually though, time passes you by as you have fun, and the dinner is called to an end, following a small speech and ceremony where you and the rest of the new crews received your uniforms.

"I guess that's a night, then." You say to your crew as you all leave through the gates. You wonder if anyone wants to crash at your place tonight, or if they'll let you crash at theirs.

"If you three are going to Nina's, I might as well come too." Kate adds.

"Great! Team bonding sleepover!" Emily starts skipping along.

...

"Come in, come in." You say as you open the door to the dorm.

The three girls follow you into the main room of your dorm, and look around.

"You still haven't decorated this, Nina..." Kate inspects your drab walls.

"It's really bland." Jess comments.

Yeah, alright, lay it off then. I didn't invite you around to critisise my decor.

"Alright, bedroom is through there and shower's in there. Bed has room for two, and then two of you can sleep on the floor."

Kate and Jess look at you blankly.

"...Bed has room for two?" Kate says slowly.

"Dibs!" Emily calls, clearly unphased by sharing a bed with you.

You crawl back into bed, slightly embarassed, and fall asleep quickly.

Thanks for the thread SS

any idea when the next will be?
>>
>>37074165
Most likely the 1st of December, 1900 hours GMT.

Going to a NY party today, so can't run unfortunately.

My pleasure to run this, anyway.
>>
>>37074151
Thanks for running!
How are you liking the way things have turned out so far? Anything you were worried about avoided, or hoped for failed to materialize?
>>
>>37074151
Thanks for running, boss.

Thanks for running, sir.

Maybe add some pastebin about our team status or other important thing later?

Pretty pleased with how things are going to be honest. I feel like I'm getting a nice feel for the characters and setting up some good interactions.

Going to try and run the quest a bit faster next time though, maybe in the region of five or so hours, rather than eight.

Trouble is, I can't help writing huge updates.

Yeah, actually working on a google doc with crew statistics now. I'll include it in the start of the next thread.

Hahaha, yep, sorry. Starting to get a little tired. Don't actually plan on taking a year-long haitus.

I'll probably get slammed for asking, but is there any chance of things going into /u/ territory?
>>
>>37074765
The only thing I'lly be slamming is Emily

>Field Repair - The crew member’s ability to repair the vehicle on the battlefield, and their ability to maintain the vehicle off the battlefield.
I thought Tankery was made as safe as possible so school girls don't get injured when competing with all those magical carbon fibre linings and everything protecting the crew
>>
>>37074811
derp, quoted the wrong one, meant to quote
>Endurance - The crew member’s ability to resist harm throughout the match, and to continue without fatigue on longer matches.
>>

>The only thing I'lly be slamming is Emily
Mah nigga.

Going by canon, Hana was knocked unconscious in one of the first episodes, so injuries can occur.

The main injuries would probably come from going across rough ground at high speeds, or falling off small cliffs.
