Welcome Ladies and gentlemen to another edition of Succubus Lord Quest!

Last time on Succubus Lord Quest, the war to defend Old TO against Celestia started, which in the middle of the chaos Wilhelmina returned with a massive power upgrade and utterly annihilated one of two elite angels!

...Sorry but I can’t think of any good way to write the introduction so fuck it let’s start this.

For information on characters and old threads:

You decide to quick at Wilhelmina using your space control, opening a viewing window to peer over to her side of the combat.

Wilhelmina seems to leap out of the way of an incoming attack from the angel, him doing a slash with his own heavy polearm that seems to cut a building in half. Wilhelmina jumps into the air, landing on high rise building before dashing past the angel and a group of angel minions in what appears to be a silver flash of light, Wilhelmina moving past all of them before resheathing her katana. The minions seem to burst into light instantly while the oriental angel from before seems to be hardly affected at all by the assault.

“You are quite skilled.” The oriental angel says bringing his heavy polearm to the ready. “Who is your sifu?”

“I am completely self taught.” Wilhelmina replies.

“Self taught?” the oriental angel replies.

“Yes, I learned my techniques through years of practice and watching Old Earth Japanese animations and comics.” Wilhelmina states as she resheaths her weapon.

You and the Oriental angel have the exact same expression on your face for that current moment, one of sheer disbelief and shock. “...Wilhelmina I know you were trying to go for a moment, but you ruined it...” you sigh as you close the window. Wilhelmina seems to be handling herself quite well, and it seems that at the very least she should be able to hold your own. Meanwhile you’re not sure what sort of enemy reinforcements to appear at the West wall for the angels, and it’s best that you get over there before they’re completely overrun.

As you head over to the West wall, it appears that you were right in all hell breaking lose. Most of the ground below the base has seemed to collapse completely, a scene of both chaos and disorder amongst your own forces in front of your eyes. Archers and ranged users try to flee for their lives before an Obsidian Angel uses a sonic shockwave to blast all the flesh off a small group of them, just before Sebastien manages to shoot one though the head from an unseen position.

“Go crawl back into your holes and DIE!” your father roars as he waves his hand, causing a wave of fire to wash down below into the hole below, catching scores of Celestian soldiers on fire.

As your father does this, a burst of light and shockwave of forces sends him blowing back into a barracks camp, with which you see a man in Silver armour and a Silver mace walk out from below. “Heed force loyal forces! The Archangel of Purity watches over us today! Let not the heretics who have strayed from the righteous path stop us today!” he says before a wave of silver light washes over the area, dispelling your father’s fire and stopping the fire on the burning Celestian soldiers. A few Laminians seem to try and continue their ambush, but are quickly stopped by an overly muscled man in a loincloth holding an incredibly huge axe.

PICK ONE

A: Go check on your father first
B: Wade into the fray and attempt to bolster your forces
C: Attempt to stay back and regain order amongst your troops
D: Other (Singular actions please, not “C and A”)
>>
Before anyone asks "Why is this so late?" I'm on vacation in the West. The time I normally start back in my dorm is a lot different than where I am.

Apologies for that inconvinence.

D. Summon a bunch of soligrams to tie up the celestains and give our forces time to regroup.
Its not like we could heal our father anyway.
>>
>>37051989
>B: Wade into the fray and attempt to bolster your forces
spread soligrams to blunt the enemies numbers and distract their attention

>>37051989
B: Wade into the fray and attempt to bolster your forces, possibly with solidgrams, if that's alright.
>>
>>37051989

>>37052056 sounds good.

We send in a scattered wave of Solidograms while Regrouping and Redeploying our forces.

Seems we have two high level adventurers, or hero's to deal with... Seemingly a Paladin and a Barbarian... both are Tanks, but the Pally has an advantage over us...

What forces are in the area? Do we have any of our own named units available or just the nameless ranks?

The barb is liable to chew through our ranks as he likely has cleave style attacks which can take out multiple melee targets... The Pally is liable to take a commander position, boosting the moral and combat effectiveness of the Celestian forces. He is also liable to stage a direct assault against us, possibly acting as a spearhead and using his forces to cut us off from our own reinforcements and to 'entrap' us...
>>
>>37052329

I just mentioned Sebastian and your father, so you do have some named units in the area.

In terms of nameless mooks, well there are a lot of Aides.

You waste no time quickly entering the fray, summoning a force of soligrams to help keep the enemy busy enough for your forces to regroup, sending them both towards the barbarian and the Cleric.

A few of your soligrams defeat some soldiers, others getting blown up along with enemy soldiers as they attempt to dispatch them. The Soligrams swarm the barbarian however, who reacts by wading into your clones with his greataxe swinging. His bellows of rage seem to overpower the sheer amount of explosions going on behind him. Rubble and debris from the explosion causing cuts to form all over the overly muscled freak’s body.

“Take heart my friend, let your righteous fury guide your blade into battle!” The cleric says, glowing a bright silver light alongside the Barbarian. Right before your eyes, the damage you inflicted on the barbarian seem to mostly mend before your eyes.

“...You’ve got to be kidding me.” you say with a small sigh as you watch this.

The silver aura from the cleric also seems to push back any sort of demons trying to get near him too, Aides nearby seem to have great difficulty approaching him, struggling to get their spears near him as they are repelled, while others seem to run away from the barbarian. Many of the commanders now are falling back a bit, fighting the Obsidian angels and other footsoldiers in the meantime.

(What now?)
>>
>>37052619
Have Sebastain head-shot the cleric while we bombard him as well.
>>

>>37052683
this, we should keep up the soligrams to keep them occupied while we cast some annihilator beams or something and have Seb start taking shots
>>

Have Sebass focus fire on the Pally. He likes playing with light? Give him a lightshow, High opacity lasers to the face followed by a small Shadowspike Graveyard to hold him in position for Sebass...

It only takes you one second to see this damage cleric casting to decide that you want him dead, now. You send your soligrams over to him, making them swarm the Cleric while trying to bait the Barbarian over towards them.

The barbarian falls for it, cutting through the hoards as it’s directly next to the Cleric in the middle of his rage, but not before you see a Silver lance of light coming out from the Paladin’s mace to be directly towards you. You try to dodge, but the beam of Silver light curves at the last moment, nicking the side of your arm in painful holy radiance.

“Damnit that stings!” you mutter as you try to cover your arm. Peering through the smoke, you can see that the Cleric has taken some damage, but that damn aura of his his making it hard to approach. With the explosions from the Soligrams, Sebastien likely cannot even get a clear shot.

“Dad.” you say holding your arm as he walks up behind you.

“Brooklyn.” he replies.

“What’s the sitrep here?” you ask as you stand back up.

“Quiet at first, but then these guys appeared and started kicking our asses.” your father comments.

“We just need to kick theirs harder then.” you reply letting go of your arm.

“You read my mind.” your Father replies.

With Sebastien and your father being non-demonic, they should not be affected by the Cleric’s anima at least. A barrier of ‘purity’ that repels all demonic energy attempting to enter it in a certain range, explains why your soligrams couldn’t get closer and why the Aide soldiers had trouble too.

>>
>>37053125

Keep up the Solidograms, but only at the Barb, that should prevent him from messing with our ground forces too much... Have our Demonic forces focus on clearing the mooks while our ranged and non demonic forces pile on the pressure on the Pally..
>>
>>37053125
Doesn't Sebastien use his psionics to aim? Or is it just because of the explosions are throwing up enough debris that it would block the bullet?
>>
>>37053338
Probably the later, we may want to stop using Solidigrams, and help Sebastian lawlcrit the Cleric.

" Those who fear the darkness have not seen what the light can do"

Use the light from the sun with gravitational lensing/ space bending along with light amplification to make a huge death beam. (it is not demonic so his wards are useless)
>>
>>37053438
thats a neat idea, we should try this if we get the opportunity to do so without getting swamped
>>
>>37053438

I feel we might need better levels of control to pull that off... but Okerian Death Beam sounds like a nice ritual...

so clarification any effect is automatically "demon magic"? so would it still be demon magic if we don't use light control to amplify it? or the act of using magic to achieve a lensing effect?

for some reason i have to use a pic to post and a different one each time i hope it fixes itself before i run out of relevant pictures.
>>
>>37053727
It's the "light amplification" that gives it the demonic attribute. I don't think gravitational lensing and space bending would count. Still, I'd think that only the extra damage from light amplification would be mitigated, while the natural portion would be unaffected. No matter what, it'd cook them alive.

“This Cleric is becoming a pain in the ass.” you reply. “Dad, do you mind getting rid of that damn Paladin?”

“What about the berserker?” your father asks.

“I’ll deal with him, you just make sure he stops healing that damn Barbarian.” you reply as you begin to summon more of your explosive clones around the barbarian.

More axe wielding soldiers rush the barbarian, but are blown back by a thunderous shout. As you slide back to stand, your eyes go wide as you see the barbarian approaching you. You quickly raise up your axe to parry his, the very impact of his axe rattling your bones. This is followed by a solid boot to your midsection, feeling more like a cannon shell as you’re blown back into a nearby building. You raise up a darkness shell at the last second to shield yourself from the impacts of the attacks, the shell retreating as you lay amidst the wreckage

“Damn... Guess he isn’t just mindlessly rampaging.” you say as you sit back up, hoping that none of your ribs are broken.

As you do sit back up, you notice the barbarian raging towards you, cleaving through your explosive clones with reckless abandon, friend and foe alike flying away from the explosions as he cleaves his path towards you.

Just as he reaches charging distance from you, Nalika appears from above, using four of her hands to hammer the barbarian directly in the head.

“YOU BRAINLESS, RAMPAGING OAF!” Nalika screams as she lands, her body laces with cuts all over the place and one of her arms hanging limp, several arrows hanging from it. The barbarian charges after her, with Nalika grabbing hold both of the barbarians hands, before giving a strong uppercut to his chin, sending him sailing away towards the hole once again.

(What now?)
>>
>>37053866

We should call a combat healer to give Nalika a boost... Combat wise, we should focus on thinning out the Celestian mooks, maybe taking pot shots at the Pally if only to keep him off balance.
>>
>>37053866
Tie down the barbarian with darkness and hit him with an annihilator beam to make sure his dead.
>>
>>37053866
I am confused, is it a cleric or a paladin?

>>37053934
>We should call a combat healer to give Nalika a boost
this, but we need to deal with that barbarian, our mooks can handle their mooks, but they can't handle the barbarian, we need to kill him or disable him long enough to kill him when the others have been dealt with

With your Father and Sebastien taking care of the Paladin, you focus your efforts on the barbarian. Your forces can handle the Celestian footsoldiers, but they cannot handle the barbarian. You summon up a well of darkness, shooting tentacles directly at the barbarian to restrict and bind his movement, hurting him being a bonus.

The barbarian sees the tentacles coming, slicing apart the first few aimed at his arms, but you manage to get one to land on his leg. For the split moment he’s distracted, Nalika runs up to punch the barbarian across the face with a trio of fists, hearing the impact even over the sounds of battle. The barbarian coughs up blood, headbutting Nalika down below. Nalika takes the blow to her head instead of dodging, staring at the barbarian through her own bloodied face as both of them growl at at each other like rabid dogs.

Your father handles the Cleric by firing another wave of fire towards the cleric, only this time making a wall of blue flame around the Cleric, the smoke clearing to show a surprised cleric. Sebastien once again fires from up above, the helmet of the Cleric flying off as the shell impacts the side of the Cleric’s head.

(“That’s the last of my ammo.”) Sebastien says to you telepathically after.

(What now?)
>>
>>37054355

Sebass should head back to see if any of the few Myians we have can whip-up some more ammo for him.

Where is that Healer for Nalika, tell her to hurry.

Personally, lets go for blinding the Barb. Laser to the face. Nalika might be able to break one of his arms. or his face...
If we can, fire off a laser or two at the Cleric. Got to keep him off balance...

Pull back for now Sebastien, see if you can get a weapon from the Miyian’s and get a healer for Nalika, she’ll need one.

(“On it.”) Sebastien replies.

“Nalika, close your eyes!” you say as you quickly shine as bright of a light as possible into the barbarian’s eye.

The barbarian roars as he covers his eyes, attempting a clumsy swing at Nalika, only for Nalika to grab his arm and flip him over, all before kneeling down to the ground and punching the ground as hard as she can, tremors in the ground can be felt as her hand connects to the barbarians face.

“NOT SO TOUGH WITH YOUR JAWBONE BROKEN AREN’T YOU!?” Nalika yells out as she punches him again. “GET THE HELL UP SO I CAN FINISH BEATING YOU FOR THE CRAP YOUR IDIOTIC FAITH HAS DONE TO US!”

As you glance over, it appears that your father has done a similar action. The Cleric attempts to cover his eyes, stumbling about before he crosses your fathers flame wall, the superheated flames seeming to roast him almost alive all before a few Aide soldiers leap upon him, stabbing his body over and over with spears again and again.

“Dutchess! Dutchess!” A nearby succubus squad commander says. “The Celestian forces are pulling back, shall we give chase!?”

Hm... Pulling back is humane, but the problem is that a lot of these people are zealots. You could have a bunch of Celestian mass murderers in your city killing people just because they are demons...
>>
>>37054927
pulling back from where to where? what forces are left and what are their dispositions, we need to regroup, fortify and secure any breaches while hunting down any who made it though
>>
>>37054927
Don't give chase for now. It may be possible that some adventurer groups might have penetrated inside our city. We need to make sure they don't destroy anything vital.
>>
>>37054964

From the city to outside the city. Remember a sizable force attempted to charge the city head on, so many of them are running back into the Canadian wild
>>

>>
>>37054927
confused pulling how do that? meaning they will regroup? could you clarify?

i am totally for the humane option but sort of confused about that.

probably would have to imprison the die hards but a big showing of mercy would at least get the sane people to question their beliefs.
>>
>>37055065

It is possible they may regroup at some point in the future yes.
>>
>>37054964 Here

We should fortify the breaches and seal them off, cut off any who are still trying to flee the city and are within it, and hunt them down, but don't pursue those outside of the city.

We need to get our reserves and reinforcements combing through the sewers and other sneaky areas where they might be hiding
>>
>>37054927

Secure our perimeter. First priority is the safety of the Civies. Those who are capable should help move the injured to medical points which will need to be set up throughout the combat areas. We will also need volunteers to do S&D sweeps of the city to ensure that there aren't any Celestian forces which didn't get the Retreat message. Capture preferred, but don't take any risks. If they refuse to surrender, kill them.

We should go back to Wilhelmina's location and see the situation there.

Once we have secured the city, we can set about tracking down the remnants of the Celestian Army... Hell, if we're lucky, they'll stall the inevitable Pride Demon Army that will mobilize against us...

frankly unless they fall back to Celestia they would be screwed from a logistical stand point. they probably did not bring any long term logistics with them and even if so they probably don't have much past a week with the absence of supply trains. Along with the fact that winter is a bich. They would literally be reduced to banditry and would suffer from desertion in mass once they realize how screwed they are.

Some of the die hards may stay but they won't be much of a threat as an army.

“Let those who are outside the city continue fleeing, but lock down the rest of the city. The ones outside won’t last that long in winter, but the ones inside will be a problem. Have the soldiers fortify the civilian areas before sending out search and destroy teams to locate the rest of them. Capture preferred, but kill them them if you don’t have any other choice.” you order.

As you say this, Wilhelmina can be seen walking back, wearing the same cloak as she did when you first met her. She appears to have a few bruises on her, but appears to be fine otherwise.

“You get him?” you ask her.

“No, he got away.” Wilhelmina replies. “I was going to give chase, but my transformation wouldn’t be lasting much longer, so I instead cleaned up the best I could in the middle of the city.”

As you talk with Wilhelmina, the sounds of fighting begin to die down, slowly being replaced with the sounds of cheering.

“I want clothes as soon as you can get them. And a bath.” Wilhelmina says.

“Fine.” you reply as you begin to head off towards the church.

As soon as you approach the church, what you can see is the sight of two forces against each other. Not angels vs demons, but rather two groups of Succubi who are yelling against each other.

“What’s going on here!?” you say as you push through the front of the crowd.

“Dutchess! Many of the demons here are not liking the idea that we’re treating enemies of the previous battle!” A church sister says.

“DEATH TO THE CELESTIAN PIGS!” a member of the crowd calls out behind you.

“Let me handle this.” you say to the sister, spreading your wings and flying to the top of a nearby guard tower just in front of the church.

You spread your wings wide, using light control to brighten up the image behind you. "Fellow countrymen, lend me your ear! We are treating the prisoners because unlike them, we don't mindlessly follow a single belief. Because we accept that what is Good depends not on what you are, but Who you are. The people below seem to quietly mutter as they hear this, seeming that while that those who do not respect your choice do at least respect your power.

“What of the ones who killed our family!? Words won’t bring my sister who were killed by these barbarians!” an impassioned Succubus cries out in the crowd.

Trust in me, I and my allies freed this city from the Pride Demon's tyrany, and now I and my allies have defended this city and its people from the greedy and hypocritical Celestians, but with the fighting largely finished, it is time for rebuilding and to let justice find its course and do its work."

my only issue with that part was that most of the people here fought, and it kind of seems like we are dismissing their contributions to the battle...

maybe change the last part to 'Trust in me and together we can make a place the fallen would be proud to have helped create' or some such. Appeal to the future that their sacrifice has helped to secure, to the weight of their loss, to the strength they shown... Maybe we could commission a memorial for those who lost their lives to secure a place where all could live free without fear...

"No words will not bring them back, but neither will uncalled for violence, we will try the celestians for their crimes against us and our city, our families and friends, but if we devolve into a bloodthirsty mob then we are no better than them. I know you are all angry and distraught, I am too, I grieve with you, but please, trust that I will take care of us all, and see that justice is brought to those who did this to us, but I cannot do that if you all want to randomly execute every single person in the invasion without due process. 'Trust in me and together we can make a place the fallen would be proud to have helped create' or some such. Appeal to the future that their sacrifice has helped to secure, to the weight of their loss, to the strength they shown...” you reply to the woman. “Rest assured, a memorial shall be held for this day. Acknowledging all those lives who fell today. No one shall be remembered in vain, both the living and the dead.:

“But what if they keep attacking us!?” Another person says in a panic.

“Next time Celestia tries to attack us, we will be ready. Likewise our city guards shall deal with any problems in the city, be they from Celestia, the Underworld, or Articus.” you declare. “Now please, let us help you! Go back to your homes or posts, and I promise to you the city will be safe once again!”

The people seem to clamor for a bit before finally dispersing, some of them complaining, but many still unsure.

“They still seem unsure.” Nalika states as you glide to the ground.

“We need to proves ourselves, then morale will skyrocket.” you say.

“T-Thank you Dutchess! Without you we would’ve had a riot on our hands!” A succubus sister says.

“Milady, what brings you to the church? Is the castle not intact?” a Succubus knight then asks.

"I couldn't tell you about the castle at this time as the security of the City takes precedence. Also, who would have calmed the others had I not visited?" you reply.

“That would be me.” A sister says quickly approaching you along with two clerics for Nalika.

“Why didn’t you come to us to get this arrows removed earlier!?” a Cleric says gasping in horror as she notices the arrows in Nalika’s back.

“They don’t hurt. They’re just annoying.” Nalika replies as she pulls one out herself.

“There are a few people sent here. A Cleric named Amelia and a succubus named Mina.” you reply.

“Yes, we have both. Amelia is in critical condition, but we’re sure she’s going to pull through. Mina however has suffered a bad case of shellshock.” the sister says.

“Shellshock?” you ask.

The sister nods. “Mina must’ve had bad memories in the past flash back to her. Right now she’s in shock, and we’re doing our best to make sure that she calms down. For the moment all she’s doing is saying something in a language we don’t understand. The last thing we have is a Celestian Archangel, although we’re not sure how much longer she’ll last.”

“Inquiry, the one I cut down. Shock and exclaimation, she actually lived.” Wilhelmina says.

“The Laminians have a betting pool to whenever she’ll die by her injuries or die by an assassin. That speaks for itself.” the sister replies. "Many are *not* happy about her being here."
>>

well, Order of Business; question the Archangel. assuming that they are concious and/or capable of speech. Then we visit Amelia as we do care for our pet, not to mention we need someone to 'run' the 'secret Celestian Church' that isn't there... Finally we visit Mina as by this time she should have regained some form of her wits...

We may need to get an Ayrian to pull the info from the Archangel though...
We should also thank Nalika for taking down the Barb as he had us at a bit of a disadvantage in the CQC department.

“Dutchess, the archangel is still being cared for and she’s also unconscious.” the sister replies. “The Cleric however is awake, though she may not be fully aware of her surroundings.” the sister warns.

“I don’t care, take me to her.” you reply.

“Yes milady.” the sister replies as she guides you inside of the church to Amelia.

As you walk through the church, you can see the church packed to capacity. Isles of seats displaced to make way for the field hospital. Moans of this in pain can be heard along with sisters moving each and every way to help the injured. You’re lead over to a room guarded by two Succubi in heavy armour. Opening the room you can see Amelia laying down in a bed, or at least you think it’s her. Nearly her entire body head to toe is wrapped up in bandages, armour taken off and laid down to the side.

“Brooklyn!” Leona says as she runs over to hug you.

“Leona! Don’t hug the guests!” a nearby older sister says, appearing to be a higher rank.

“It’s quite alright.” you reply as you look down at Amelia. “What are her injuries.”

“She has... second... degree burns all over.” Leona says, hesitating to answer.

“Ah ah, third.” the senior Succubus says as she places a wet cloth over Amelia’s head. “She’s quite light headed at the time too. She’s strong, but it may take some time to recover.”

“M-Master... Master is that you?” Amelia asks, stirring as she tries to open her eyes to adjust to the light.

We most likely wouldn't ever manage to convince the angel to work for us. We already know that angels can get demoted by celestia for disobeying their trait,

Joining a demon would most likely activate a kill switch. Give a good reason why we should keep her alive? Know that doing that without a valid reason will give a huge hit to our popularity.

It'd be good to know if this exists. Not disputing your point, but it might be something we could use to our benefit (our father can cast Celestian-flavoured magic after all).

“Do you happen to know of one of my knights here? One named Mina Kazanari?” you ask.

“Yes, but with all due respect Dutchess she isn’t fit for duty at the current moment.” the older sister says. “She needs some to recover.”

“I don’t plan on putting anyone who is injured to work, I just want to ascertain her condition myself.” you reply.

“According to a translator from earlier, she’s saying ‘he’s back’ over and over again.” Alex replies. “I’ve tried nearly everything to bring her back from reality, but they said she must have some terribly vivid memories coming back to her all at once.” Alex replies.

You give a small, worried smile before leaning down and giving Mina a big hug. “Daijobu daijobu... Take as long as you need Mina, I’ll be waiting back at the castle if you need me. Alex, take care of Mina until she’s well enough to come back to the castle.”

“But of course Dutchess.” He says with a small bow.

The majority of your time after the fight is helping the city to clean up the mess that it has been rendered in. Working to help rebuild fortifications and rescue civilians in peril. You occasionally provide instructions to both Fredika and Erika as they continue searching for any leftover Celestian groups, to which they discovered a few and were dispatched without many problems.

The damage to your forces at the end was a bit less than originally predicted. It appears the angel’s main tactic was trying to use adventurer squads to kill you. When the vampires proved to be too heavy a resistance, they switched to their backup plan of two high ranking angels trying to kill you.

The vampires themselves apparently proved their weight, but they did take some bad losses. Bearing the Lion’s share of the second attacker wave and many adventurers. Celestia was in the vampires lair, but at the same time there were simply so many attackers, both in numbers and in skill that it took the toll on the vampires. From what you heard of the initial reports, the vampires felt like they’ve earned their place on the surface and may not want to wait much longer for an official announcements.

You arrive back in the castle a while later, utterly exhausted and drained from your long day at both battle and recovery.

“Oh welcome back Brooklyn!” Shiva warmly greets you as you enter the dining hall.

“Hello Shiva... Did the Celestian forces attempt an attack on the castle?” you ask.

Shiva taps a finger on her lips as she thinks. “Not that I’m aware of. The only thing the castle saw were some minor skirmishes on it’s walls, from what I heard anyways. I was away from most of the serious fighting myself.”

“I’m glad you’re behaving mother.” Nalika says flatly.

“Oh since Alex is busy taking care of Mina, I’ve prepared dinner for us all!” Shiva says showing a table filled with roast meats. “I hope you like poultry!”

“Good, I’m starving.” Nalika says as she walks towards the table.

“Brooklyn, inquiry, do you have a moment.” Wilhelmina asks you.

“Of course Wilhelmina, what’s up?” you reply.

“I wanted to apologize for my actions, and the crimes I have undertaken against Succubuskind and your rule.” Wilhelmina says.

“Wilhelmina, you d-”

“Let me finish.” Wilhelmina says cutting you off. “The actions I undertook betrayed my family, honor, race, nation, and my friends. I realized that all of this could have been avoided if I had only been truthful with myself, but instead I was filled with shame and horror to the point where I was paralyzed, unable to do anything when I could have acted and made all the difference. After deep introspection and reflection upon myself and my actions during my meditation, I have finally made peace with myself.” Wilhelmina then reaches to her side, untying her sword and putting it in your hands.

“...Wilhelmina? What are you doing?” you ask, confused by all of this.

Wilhelmina then gets on her knees, closing her eyes as she remains as still as a statue. “I am hereby admitting myself for whatever punishment you deem worthy for my crimes.”

Wilhelmina seems to have changed... a lot. The one you knew before was often filled with uncertainty with what she did, but this new Wilhelmina... she’s so full of confidence that she is potentially staring her death right in the eyes and isn’t even so much as flinching.

“...Hey mom, where are the drinks?” Nalika asks.

“I’ll get them.” you say as you walk down towards the basement.

As you descend the stairs to the basement, you hear what sounds to be a loud crash. Your battle awareness snaps back to you in a fraction of a second, clinging to the wall as you use space control to peer around the staircase to see what’s on the other side.

When you look through the space window, you can see some battle damage in the pantry of what was supposed to be an epic battle. Bodies of battered angels lay about the place while a few are on the light fixtures nearby. Another angel falls off the light fixture, collapsing limply to the floor, including the bodies of what you swear to be a few unconscious adventurers on the floor.

Upon saying this, nearly everyone at the table stops eating apart from Wilhelmina and Sebastien.

"It would seem you did an equally good job defending my castle, especially for a lazy layabout, while the angels attacking the castle may have been minor to you, it isn't to me so to keep me informed of such things in the future." you reply.

Shiva gives a small laugh as she pours you a wine glass and passes you a drink. “I didn’t do anything except to defend myself. I was actually making dinner when they broke through in the basement.”

“I still can’t believe you pulled off all their wings.” Nalika replies.

“Maybe they shouldn’t try and kill us then.” Shiva replies.

“Do you have the post-battle sitrep from Fredika and Erika?” you ask Nalika.

“Yes. In addition to two adventurer groups we have now acquired a fair assortment of magical weapons and items from the battle, mainly from the adventurer groups.” Nalika states.

“Good, maybe we’ll have something other than ice weapons.” you reply.

“What really surprised me however was Lady Wilhelmina didn’t just come back, but she also seems to have awakened during that time she was out.” Shiva explains.

“Just what are the details around that anyways?” you ask. “In all the material I read, it seems to be a literary plot device.”

“That’s because it pretty much is one.” Shiva explains. “When someone awakens, it’s akin to the purest essence of their character. One they’re not afraid to show to the world and says who they are. Naturally it comes with a dramatic power boost, but I believe people on this planet call it something like a... Super Succubus or something like that.”

“How does one even trigger this?” you ask.

Shiva simply shrugs. “You don’t force such a thing to happen, it just naturally happens like time or the tide. Why Brooklyn, are you jealous of Wilhelmina?”

“What? Me? Jealous?” you ask in disbelief.

“There’s no shame in admitting that you are Brooklyn.” Shiva says as she sips her wine. “If anything I’d say that you’re still a bit stronger than her.”

"Its less that I'm jelous and more that I know I'm still young and weak, with lots of powerful enemies circling. Valvosa and the pride demons, Celestia, the KING OF DESPAIR appears possibly active again."
>>
>>37074876

That is nice of you to say, however today has suggested otherwise. Regardless, it only serves to teach me that I still have a long way to go. Thank you for Dinner again. It was... enlightening.

"I'm glad she finally found herself. And while I'm envious of her sudden mastery of her powers, she saved a lot of lives and will continue to do so. I suppose I might have something like this happen to me as well, and I should inform Leona, Erika, and Amanda that they might eventually face some sort of trial that would allow them to awaken."

“Quite possibly, it’s said that those who actually awaken are quite rare. Even if that’s the case, don’t be put down by this Brooklyn. Lots of demons and angels never awaken, yet they do quite well for themselves.” Shiva says.

(I’m winding down now. Anyone got anything to say to Shiva and/or Nalika before I go and end the thread?)
>>
>>37075640
nothing that I can think of apart from asking Nalika how she fared in the battle outside of when we were with her

we should also check in with Amelia and our other friends and our family
>>
“Nalika, are your injuries from earlier doing well?” you ask her.

“They’re fine. I’ve had much worse done to me before.” Nalika replies.

“Wrath demons were made to be an aggressive, fighting species Brooklyn! It’s going to take a lot more than that to take my daughter down~.” Shiva replies as she pats Nalika on the head.

Nalika droops all of her shoulders and moans in despair, you’re not sure if it’s from her mother’s comment or whenever or not it’s from hearing her race in a stereotyped light once again.

“What of Amelia and the rest of my family?” you ask.

“Everyone is accounted for. Your father has some minor injuries. Erika was hit with two arrows but she’s fine.” Nalika replies. “The armies took some losses, but nothing our low end estimates didn’t cover.”
>>
>>37075668
We've already checked in with Amelia (she's received third-degree burns but was there mentally, Mina's worse-off). Excel is doing stuff. Our dad might be boning Ada, and thus shouldn't be disturbed. We haven't checked in with Erika, though.

And as to something for Nalika: "It might be rare, but I might have a few ideas for several people. Even if it doesn't result in an Awakening, it'll at least cause them to be happier and more attuned to their true self."
>>
>>37076448
>We've already checked in with Amelia
Derp, I meant Amanda and the others, didn't realise I typo'd
>>
>>37076408
Let's go see Erika and how she's holding up and check in with our dad after that dinner if he's not otherwise occupied.

Yeah. Check in on Dad, Amanda, and the gang.

Alright I'm getting a bit burnt out for now, so I think I'll call the thread here. I'll take suggestions in the next thread on how to visit, what to do, etc...

In the meantime, I'll be here for questioning.
>>
>>37076813
When would be a decent time for us to see how much DP has been gained and what to spend it on?
>>
>>37076899

I honestly forget the last time I handed out DP was >>.

Can anyone check that out? Then I'll assign DP.
>>
>>37076990
right after the hostage rescue. Also, I'm in favor of getting physical augmentation for summoning, we certainly us it enough.
>>
>>37077104

physical augmentation for summoning?
>>
>>37077171
They're talking about the ability that boosts the physical strength of summoned units (solidigrams and the like?).
>>
>>37077171
Augment Summoning (Physical)
>>
>>37076990
DP was 445 at the point >>37077104 talks about, I think.
>>
>>37077207
>>37077220

Oh yea, sure if you want to do that then you can.
>>
>>37076813
Thanks for the thread Sand
>>
>>37077104
I'm interested in those things the guys in the irc chat were talking about but can't remember what they were

>>37076813
We should go visit Erika and Amanda and the twins and see how they are, and also our family
>>
>>37077262
We should probably know how much DP we've gained since then for various stuff. Also, I remember getting Predict, Potential, Diehard and Continuous Action would be pretty great abilities. Finally, Lionheart and Lionheart Aura would be excellent choices for us (possibly Covert Commander as well if we get Lionheart Aura).
>>
>>37076813
Thanks for running, Sand. Visiting Erika and Amanda would be a decent idea, as would preparing for Beck. We might also be able to squeeze showing Rebecca that the Queens exist.
>>
>>37077104
i would like to know how much DP we have total before we start spending, but that looks like a really solid choice.
>>
>>37077848
A few more goodies I found:

Potential rank 10 is 425 DP (it adds 50% to our crit, dodge, hit, and parry at that level when we're at 20% life), rank 6 is only 195, Diehard helps us stay alive (apparently we have ~3 hits worth of HP from an equal attacker, but we're good at dodging, the Endurance skill would increase our HP, among other things), and Predict gives us Hit, Dodge, and Parry bonuses (once 'some time' passes). Continuous Action would give us an extra action if we finish off who we're attacking (same thing as Predict, requires 'some time' to pass).
>>
>>37078179
If we want more survivability we can get Earth magic to Average. With this at average we can get stone body and can then parry bullets and blades barehaneded along with a lot of other resistances and abilities.

Source: I looked at Stacy Nitorin's character sheet and saw it
>>
>>37078179
All of those things sound good
>>
>>37078697
Diehard means we can't be one-shot, Endurance is cheap as chips (all skills are), Potential gives offensive and defensive boosts, and Predict...eh, it's alright but not super-awesome (but always on in bigger fights).

But it is nice to know that Earth magic will give us resistances to non-magical attacks against us (most of the attacks against us will be magical soon, I think).
>>
>>37078179
>>37078697
whynotboth.jpg
>>
>>37078899
i highly doubt we will have enough Dp for both of them right now, but we can eventually get both of them

>>37078861
Now that i think about it we will be wanting to get resistances to ice magic since there will be an invasion of ice based pride demons eventually
>>
>>37078899
Because we have 445 DP + however-much we got from the various things that happened after the hostage rescue (Saved Old TO from Celestia, Made a Deal with the Greed Demons, Made a Deal with the Vampires, possibly helped forge Wilhelmina's sword and/or accepted her as our bodyguard & knight).
>>37079145
>resistances to ice magic
And the Lionheart ones for the KING OF TERROR. Beck might be connected to him, so it might be a good idea to get a few points in both it and the aura.
>>
>>37079212
>/or accepted her as our bodyguard & knight)
We still didn't get confirmation that we did accept her pledge of loyalty, though I'm assuming we did.
>>
>>37079452
>I, Duchess Brooklyn, Ruler of Old TO, Sentence you to serve as my Bodyguard and Aside for as long as I see fit
I think we did, but I agree it may not have been clear. We did agree that Brooklyn is her Lord. Possibly this is the best way to deal with it that isn't metagamey (Brooklyn wouldn't know, but this is a cool effect that we want and the QM wants in play).
>>
>>37079828
Defiantly want to get lion harted and lion hart aura.

Thinking maybe of boosting willpower a lot to reflect the crap Brooklyn has to deal with on a daily bases.

could also get talents to boost aether pool or gain specialty light and maybe dark magic.
>>
>>37078179
Thanks, I would have posted this list myself if I was around for end of thread.

This list is what I feel are the absolute essentials to have of the skills list. I think that right now they are far more useful to get rather than even more magic as it would allow us to at least try to survive an enemy who laughs at/eats magic.
>>
>>37080848
Currently Aether isn't a huge problem, especially since we got EN save. It reduces magical Aether use by 20%. That's a 25% storage gain AND a 20-25% bonus to how much we regain, since almost everything Brooklyn does is magic. Remember that boosting Controls also increases max Aether (it's far better to invest in expensive ones then buy new ones, btw, apparently only once you get to/past Good level does buying controls at all become worth it DP-wise).
>>
>>37081640
Ironically, one of the things we've needed constantly so far is defense vs. things that can hit us. Hit and Away would be pretty useful for us as well (allows us to Full-Move after we Full-Attack).
