LAST TIME ON GEASS QUEST: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/36897198/

Thread times and updates posted here: https://twitter.com/Crosswire

Rules and Mechanics: http://pastebin.com/J8ehewqf

The corridors of the Viceroy’s Palace are not as regal as you imagined them to be, though given the circumstances they’re most certainly not in their usual condition. The sturdy walls are pecked with tiny bullet craters and the floor is slick with blood and bile that continues to ooze from the corpses of guards that litter the ground.

You and Suzaku run through the hallways, occasionally passing a TV or radio broadcasting Cornelia’s “Death to Britannia!” cry over and over again on an endless loop. You lose yourself in thought for a moment as you follow Suzaku, noting just how much vitriol and passion Cornelia’s voice carries. Even if she had a gun to her head or was being forced into doing this, surely there would be some semblance of regret or apprehension in her voice…

Britannian soldiers run past you and Suzaku without so much as giving you a glance. They slip into offices and began yanking out filing cabinets, grabbing a few select papers before dousing everything with kerosene and lighting it all blaze.

Similar scenes become more and more frequent as you and Suzaku near the front entrance to the palace, with entire piles of documents being burned off to the side of the halls like ritualistic funeral pires.

Thinking on it you realize you don’t fully understand what’s going on. You remember being arrested (and beaten) by Cornelia after she accused you of being an agent for the Black Knights and then falling asleep in your cell. Next thing you know the whole Palace is shaking like it’s being bombed, Suzaku’s come to release you, and most of Cornelia’s generals and high ranking officers lie dead in a meeting room while the Princess is shown slaughtering her own troops on television.

To say you’d like to have things clarified would be an understatement.

Still as much as you’d like to ask, the situation seems rather urgent and you’re not sure Suzaku has the time to explain what’s going on...

Well it can be argued we didn't go against his orders infiltrating the base, we didn't do anything strenuous after all. In fact it was pretty easy, Zero's security sucks. That being said Cornelia gut punching us was not good. If Suzaku doesn't resolve the fight with his plot armored self shortly, Shirley won't wait.
>>
>>37024322
>Cornelia gut punching
And pistol-whipping, don't forget.
>>
>>37024356
Still the pistol whip wouldn't aggravate our gunshot wound, and it's clear we don't have a concussion. the punch was likely worse for us than the whipping.

“Suzaku...” You ask as pick up speed to run beside instead of behind Suzaku “What the hell is going on? Why is Cornelia on the TV? Who’s attacking? And what’s with all the burning?”

“It’s complicated, I’m not entirely sure how it started. What I do know is that the Black Knights attacked and Cornelia went crazy, she killed her command staff and fought her way out of the Palace with a group of her own men. Once she escaped in her Knightmare she met up with the Black Knights and actually began to help them.”

As the two of you run out the large front doors of the palace and out into the war torn grounds you can’t help but look at Suzaku in disbelief. You know he’s telling the truth, you were stepping around in the messy truth not two seconds ago, but it’s still so hard to accept.

“They’ve been attacking for the last 5 hours and not just here, but all over Japan from Asahikawa to Kagoshima. I was fighting up till a little while ago so I’m sorry if I left you waiting in there. After Cornelia joined sides with Zero the charges against you were dropped, but I guess everyone was too busy to let you out.”

Suzaku flashes you an apologetic smile and you just shrug, happy not to be a wanted criminal.

“So what about Cornelia? Why did she go over to the Black Knights and why is she all over the TV?”

“The Black Knights hacked the broadcasting centers. Zero made a speech just before the attack and now they’ve been rerunning Cornelia’s attack on her own troops. They were trying to damage the troops morale and it seems to be working…”

Suzaku leads you across the palace grounds and over to a runway, where the giant aerial battleship "Avalon" appears to have landed. Not just for you it seems as when you approach you see the ship with all it's lifts out taking aboard everything from soldiers, to equipment, to entire Knightmares.

>(1/?)
>>
>>37024433
>Shirley exposes the entire Black Knight underground singlehandedly
>Zero goes "FUCK EVERYTHING" and forces Cornelia (via geass) to become this universe's Murder Princess as a last-ditch gambit
Yeesh.
>>
>>37024433

You and Suzaku worm your way through the thick crowd and manage to board the nearest lift just before it begins it’s trip upwards. Alongside you are wounded soldiers, nervous men in labcoats, and sealed black tanks that look reminiscent of coffins. Beside them are boxes of papers, hard drives, and several whole computers that visibly shake as the lift begins to ascend.

“We were asked by the Rosenburg Institute to help transport the sensitive materials they have so it doesn't fall into the hands of the Black Knights.” Suzaku states as he catches you looking around at all the stuff on the lift.

“Asked?”

“Well they’re not a military organization per say and we’re essentially autonomous, so it wasn’t like they could order us too. Besides they promised to give us some additional help with the evacuation.”

“Wait, what evacuation? I thought were were fighting the Black Knights!”

Suzaku grimaced at the question and looked to the pillars of smoke that loomed high above the perimeter walls of the palace, gunfire and explosions thundering in the distance and only growing louder with every passing moment.

“The Black Knights have the settlement surrounded and all the high ranking officers have been killed, Cornelia’s defected to the rebels side and reinforcements won’t be coming. We've been ordered to pull everyone out and retreat..."

As much as Shirley wants to attack Zero, the Cornelia Gambit has made things way too dangerous. The Britannian military is in shambles, and any attack would fail, especially with a force of nature like Cornelia on their side.

We gotta let this one go.

And I know about that wound, but still, Shirley seems to recover pretty fast.

Retreating is pretty bad anyway, our phone is somewhere in the palace and even without it Lulu will have acess to all the security feeds in it.
Actually, disregard that, I think we can already forget about that secret identity stuff, Zero probably knows by now,

“What about Milly and the others at school? We just can’t leave them behind! If the Black Knights take over Japan who knows what will happen to them?!” You shout and leer at Suzaku, hands practically shaking in fury. Everyone backs away and even Suzaku looks uncomfortable, but you’re not angry at him you’re angry at everything that’s happening.

The Black Knights are attacking, Zero’s out in the field somewhere just begging to be attacked by you, and you’re still injured from your last fight. All things considered your chest injury doesn't hurt as much as it did a few days ago. Before so much as sitting up in bed nearly made you pass out and now, even after being punched in the wound, you feel significantly better.

It still hurts like a bitch and it’ll definitely hinder you in a fight, but it’s amazing how much you've healed in just a few days...

“We’re not leaving them. Normally civilian evacuation wouldn't be possible in a situation like this, however since we’re an irregular unit and Lloyd is an Earl we’re going to Ashford to collect everyone we can under the pretense of getting his wife.” Suzaku places a hand on your shoulder and speaks in a gingerly tone, but even knowing you'll be able to rescue your friends doesn't douse the fire of rage inside of you.

The lift reaches the interior of the ship and you're greeted by loaders, medics, and the warm relieved smile of Cecile who is holding a change of clothes for you.

"I'm glad to see you're alright Shirley, for a while I was thinking of asking Suzaku to break you out of prison but it appears that won't be necessary..."

You can't help but smile at that and spot Lloyd strutting over, smiling and relaxed as he was the day you met him.

"Well I think that might have been a little extreme, but that's not really an issue now is it? My other devisor is back and we have another person to help in securing Ashford. We would have been here sooner, but apparently the Black Knights aerial battleship has a pair of large scale hadron cannons built into it. If the Avalon wasn't equipped with a Blaze Luminous shield system we'd probably all be quite dead right now..."

You grimace at that, wondering just how the Black Knights could have built an entire ship under everyone's knows before slipping off briefly to change into a fresh uniform. When you return you find Suzaku talking with Cecile and Lloyd examining one of the odd black pods that were brought aboard the ship.

"Is Euphemia awake yet?" Suzaku asks earnestly.

"Yes, she's aboard the bridge. She insisted she needed to know what was happening?"

"And you let her out of the infirmary?" You see Suzaku flinch at that, as if he'd been told a sibling was thrown down the stairs.

"Dr. Pailsen said she needed to see the truth as soon as possible to minimize the shock. She's under watch so there's no chance she could try to hurt herself..."

Suzaku turns and runs off and Cecile just frowns.

"Will you stop playing with that!?" A gravely voice barks as a chubby, monocle wearing man waddles over to Lloyd who'd taken a crowbar to one of the black pods.

"Ah, former General Bartley I didn't know you were still alive." Lloyd muses with a sweep of his crowbar.

"Of course I'm still alive! I was the one who asked you to help us move this research material in the first place!"

"Oh that's right. So just what research are you trying to get out of Japan so desperately? Last time I checked standard policy for secret research was to destroy it in the case of being captured by an enemy faction."

"This research is too valuable to just be destroyed! I don't need to tell you what we're transporting, all you need to know is that it needs to be taken safely to the homeland!" Bartley's face reddens and his voice strains from all the yelling he seems to have been doing.

Lloyd just shrugs and drops the crowbar with a faint expression of disappointment.

"So where's that assistance you offered to give us? Even without the Black Knights ship coming after us there's a chance we'll be dealing with a lot of enemy hardware on our way out of Japan."

"He's already helping to keep the Black Knights away from the palace." Bartley states, checking the black pod for any damage.

"Only one man? That hardly seems like support. Unless..."

"He's a cyborg, unfinished but stable enough to listen to reason most of the time. We have an open channel to the Giga Knight Fortress he's piloting, once we begin to leave we'll ensure we're not followed."

"A working combat cyborg AND a Giga Knight Fortress? My my you've been quite busy haven't you? I wonder what else you've been doing..."

"For the last time, that's none of your business! Just focus on getting your wife so we can escape this place with our lives!" The fat man waddles off and Lloyd stares at the nearby black pod for a moment before looking back to you.

"If you plan on helping in securing Ashford I think it's important that you know the Sutherland Club is still damaged from your last fight. Thankfully the Lancelot Club is operational and some of it's more tricky bugs have been ironed out. Come to the hanger whenever you're ready, we got ahold of some new weaponry you might like."

Lloyd wanders off and you're left wondering what to do. It'll be a while before the ship takes off, so you have some time to do things...

You’re tempted to see what new toys Lloyd has for you to try, but Suzaku’s worried look drives you towards the bridge. Upon arriving there you see a frantic women clad in pink, arms and fingers bandaged from cuts, break from the grip of two guards and lash out with an arm, smacking Suzaku to the ground.

The girl freezes and immediately recoils, as if shocked by her own action.

“Suzaku, I’m sorry I didn't…”

“It’s alright Euphemia, everything is going to be alright. ” Suzaku says softly, rubbing his cheek and standing back up.

“We can’t have a hysterical women on the bridge, if she can’t keep calm we’re going to need to remove her.” One of the guards states firmly, giving Suzaku and Euphemia a look that can only be described as disgust.

"She's fine. I'll keep an eye on her, you two should return to your duties."

The guards look to each other and scoff before walking out. No one on the bridge pays you any mind and Suzaku doesn't appear to have noticed you've arrived. Moving closer you begin to listen to them.

"Suzaku, is this really happening? Please tell me this is just in my head. For once I want the terrible things everyone's been saying to be right about me, I want to be insane so I can know that this couldn't happen anywhere but my worst nightmares..." Euphemia clutches the side of her head, her finger nails digging into her skin as Suzaku leads her over to a seat near the window, grief and sadness barely hidden on his face.

"Don't say things like that Euphemia. You're not insane, I'm afraid that things are exactly as they seem."

"B-But why? Cornelia wouldn't do this! She's a soldier, but not a murderer! She wouldn't join the Black Knights or kill all those people! It has to be some kind of trick, It has to be..."

Your first days in therapy with Dr. Pailsen come flooding back to you as you see Euphemia pull her knees to her chest and go into a little ball atop the chair she sits in, avoiding eye contact with the hellish scenery outside.

"I'm sure there's some explanation for what happened to Princess Cornelia. Once we get out of here it'll all be sorted out, just wait and see." Suzaku's voice strains with a false optimism that even he seems to be unable to believe and the distract Euphemia just shakes her head.

"Why is this happening? Everything I did, I tried to stop this, but it was all ruined. Am I really so useless? Can't I do anything? Why can't I stop this?"

Euphemia just stares at the floor, her blood shot eyes wide and trembling with a manic fear that feels all too familiar to you. Suzaku sits beside her, holding her close and struggling to find any words to comfort her.

If we really want to hype up the Zero-hate, reveal that Zero's responsible for our condition. We can imply he caused an accident, or that he used the same kind of trick as he must've used on Cornelia. But we do need to set her on the right track.

It’s tempting to just leave Suzaku to care for the Princess himself, but something in you stirs when you think about how similar you once were to Euphemia. Sweet, innocent, happy, and hopeful only to be broken and crushed because of a series of tragic events. First the murder of her brother, then the destruction of the Zone she threw away her title to create, and now this.

When you broke down you felt alone, lost, with seemingly no guidance from those who tried to help you. It wasn’t until you met Dr. Pailsen and talked to him that you knew just what you had to do.

Walking forward you approach Euphemia and speak.

“This isn’t your fault.”

Euphemia looks up, frightened but you just smile at her warmly and her expression turns to one of confusion.

“W-Who are you?”

“I’m Xinlu Kuu, but you might know me as Shirley. Though I’d prefer you didn’t call me that here...” You lean forward and say the last part in a whisper, smiling and surprising Suzaku with your openness.

“I was like you once. Something horrible happened to me and I thought it was all my fault, that because I was weak and made mistakes that I was responsible for all the evils that had been dealt to me.” Euphemia looks away from you, fidgeting nervously in her chair as you move closer.

“But then I realized who was responsible for it all. People can do terrible things to your mind Euphemia, make you forget things that you never thought in a million years you could forget. I still don’t understand how, but I didn’t need to understand to realize that I couldn’t beat myself up and give in to despair.”

You kneel down and take Euphemia’s hands in yours, smiling brightly and causing her to slowly move her eyes up to yours.

“No one is weak Euphemia. Anyone can become strong if they work hard enough for it. If you have something to fight for, something you believe in, someone you want to punish, than better yourself. Don’t listen to anything or anyone but what you feel deep inside. Hate, happiness, sadness, turn all of that into something you can use! Don’t give into despair, ensnare it and turn it into a weapon!”

Euphemia looks at you with bewilderment and surprise, the fear draining from her face and leaving her with perplexment.

“Me? Strong? Surely you must be kidding…”

“Didn’t I say not to call me Shirley?” You say with a laugh and stand up. “If I can do it Euphemia, then so can you. You’re only weak if you give up.”

Suzaku looks to you, grateful but unsure of what to make of your little speech. Unable to think of anything else, you turn and leave Euphemia to her own devices.

The Avalon still hasn't taken off yet and you still haven't checked out the new weapons Lloyd mentioned.

Heading to the hanger you’re greeted by a crowded room with Knightmares and equipment shoved anywhere and everywhere they could fight. Sutherlands, Gloucesters, a few odd looking machines here and there, and most importantly the Lancelots. The poor Sutherland Club is still missing it’s head and the top of it’s cockpit, making you shudder at the memories of the Black Knightmare.

“Ah, you’ve finally arrived. I was worried you weren’t going to pilot…”

“I’m still hurt but I’m not incapacitated or anything. So what did you get that you wanted to show me?” Lloyd just grins and leads you through the maze of equipment and parts the hanger has become, taking you to one of the walls where equipment is lined up.

“Up till now the Lancelot has been given the V.A.R.I.S Rifle and Float Pack because they were the only working models I had and didn’t want to risk losing them to a technical malfunction. However I just finished fabricating another pair for you to use with the Lancelot Club!” Lloyd states with a grin, directing your eyes to a red wing like knightmare sized backpack and a strange blue rifle.

“I’m familiar with the float unit, that’s what allows the Lancelot to fly. However this is the first time I’ve heard of the Varis rifle, just what kind of weapon is it?" You look to Lloyd who just laughs to himself, as giddy as a school boy.

"Why it's only one of the greater ranged weapons ever designed, by myself of course. The Variable Ammunition Repulsion Impact Spitfire or VARIS rifle is a weapon that uses energy over traditional physical rounds. It'd take too long to explain the science behind it, but unlike Hadron weaponry which produces thick inaccurate beams, the VARIS rifle centralizes energy around small almost non existent 'rounds' to produce energy emissions of various sizes and strengths."

>(1/2)
>>
>>37027049
so is a VARIS sniper possible?
>>
>>37027049
It's gonna be like that bit in S2 when Kallen gets her Gen 9 nightmare. Lancelot and Lancelot Club take to the skies and wreck everything.

Aww yeah.
>>
>>37027049
"Really?" You ask, looking at the blue rifle with an intrigued smile. "It sounds amazing, but I have a feeling there's a catch to it."

"It's not so much a 'catch' as it is a limitation. The rifle uses a lot of power, so much so that it has a limited number of shots compared to conventional weapons. After 14 shots or less depending on the anti-material level used during each firing, the rifle's battery will be drained and all shots after that will draw directly from the Knightmare's Yggdrasil rifle." Lloyd explains with a shrug.

"But that's why it's a prototype weapon, there's still issues that need to be worked out before it can be perfected and mass produced. It has a limited number of shots but anything you hit is guaranteed to be destroyed. No conventional armor can stop it's shots, at least none that I know of."

You look at the rifle, thinking for a moment in particular about the strengths of the Lancelot Club.

"Could you modify the rifle for sniping?"

"Oh I don't need too. The VARIS is already capable of long range firing, provided the user is a competent shooter. It's range and effectiveness depends on the Knightmare using it, so it should work rather well with the Lancelot Club."

The silver haired scientist gives the blue brother of the Lancelot a semi-affectionate look of pride as he says this and you look over to see a much larger blue weapon beside the VARIS. At first glance it almost looks like a significantly upscaled version of the same weapon, but you notice some notable differences in the shape.

"Lloyd, what's that?" You ask, pointing to the weapon.

"Hmm? That? That's the Hadron Launcher. It's a Knightmare use Hadron Cannon scaled down for use on the battlefield. The model is experimental, almost as long as a Knightmare and requiring a separate energy filler just for 5 shots. It's a powerful weapon, but it hasn't been fully tested yet."

You nod and look around. "Anything else you want to tell me?"

“We also managed to get a hold of a Knightmare-use anti-material rifle. Not really my work or all that experimental, but it’s incredibly powerful and can easily destroy Knightmares through cover. However it’s unwieldy and not exactly easy to fire on the move, though it has more shots then the VARIS rifle does."

Lloyd ponders for a brief moment before shaking his head. "That's it really. The Lancelot Club has a pair of Mauser Vibration Swords that can connect end on end to make something of a double sided lance, but you should know if you'd read the manual. So what are you going to bring with you Shirley?"

Glancing around the room, you think on what to bring.

[The Lancelot Club is equipped with 4 slash harkens, Blaze Luminous shields on it's forearms, two powerful factspheres in it's shoulders, and an ECM emitter in it's horn. It has two specialized sheaths for it's MVS swords connected to the sides of the cockpit which allow it to carry them into combat without using up it's two weapon hardpoints.]

Oh yes I forgot about those. And just to note, the MVS are superior to the revolving blades in terms of damage and penetration. It's unlikely Britannia would mass produce them given the superiority of Mauser Tech, though given how Revolving Blades are cheaper I could see it being considered.

You select your weapons and watch them loaded onto the Lancelot Club when Lloyd notes something.

“You’re choosing to use the Float System untrained?”

“Yeah.” You state with a simple nod.

“An experimental system on an experimental Knightmare and one that you’re not even familiar with. You’re a more interesting devisor than I first hypothesized Kuu, though I do hope your eagerness doesn't get you killed before the Lancelot Club is finished."

"Well the Float System will allow me to fly and that'll give me a leg up on all the other Knightmares. Even if I don't know how to use it I'll learn as I go and do the best I can, that's how I've been doing a lot of the stuff I have in combat."

Lloyd just grins to himself and remains silent, eventually growing bored and wandering off as you board the Lancelot Club and run a few quick tests. It all looks good, all that's left is to wait for the fight.

The monster of a manual is complex and probably one of the most complicated things you've read period. >It was this thing actually. If this was about perception supposedly it wouldn't be like this, no?

Shirley cut through the arm of the Black Sutherland and had her perception of time stopped. When it resumed she believed her blade had swung through the space the Black Sutherland had been as it if wasn't there, when it had just moved around behind her while she stood frozen, with her blade out in front of her.

I apologize if it was misleading, I was using a bit of hyperbole and exaggeration to add a bit of flavor to the writing.

Lining up near the elevator leading down to the Avalon’s EM catapult, you position the Lancelot Club behind the regular Lancelot and wait for your turn launch. Suzaku has a similar, if simpler load out then you do, VARIS rifle and MVS’s with no additional weapons or equipment besides the Float System.

When you’re about to ask Suzaku why he’s bringing so little into combat, Cecile’s cool and professional voice comes in over the comms.

“The mission is simple. You and Suzaku will be launched out ahead of the Avalon to scout out the perimeter of the Ashford Academy. If the area is clear of enemies then the Avalon will land on the school grounds and we will begin recovering students. However if you discover enemies in the area, you are to eliminate them by any means possible while keeping a risk to the students as low as possible.” Cecile explains as the Lancelot is slowly lowered down to the catapult, disappearing out of sight.

“Do you have any questions?”

The sound of building energy and the sudden shrieking of landspinners makes you grin and you shake your head, mostly to yourself.

“No, I’m ready!”

“Alright. Step forward onto the elevator.”

Gripping the controls you have the Lancelot Club take a few steps forward, noticing how unevenly balanced the Float Unit seems to make it. Small vibrations run through your cockpit as the elevator slowly drops, bringing you and the Club down into a long, narrow like runaway just big enough for a Knightmare to go down.

“Position the Lancelot Club’s landspinners into the EM Boost lines.” Cecile instructors and you do so to the best of your abilities, leaning the Club over and positioning it’s spinners into the grooves that run down the length of the catapult.

You wait in silence for a few moments as a quiet electrical humming begins and intenisifies and within moments you hear Cecile shout out. “Lancelot Club, now launch!”

“LAUNCHING!”

Thrusting the controls forward the landspinners of the Club begin to rotate and you’re practically buried into your seat from the sheer suddeness of the acceleration. The speed only intensifies until the Club is sent flying off the rail and into the night sky.

And then...

The Lancelot Club begins to drop, rather quickly in fact. You begin to panic when the controls for the Float system don’t immediately respond and you find yourself beginning to go into free fall. Suzaku, as if in anticipation for this, spins around and moves to catch you when your frantic attempts at fixing the situation actually bare fruit.

With a sharp electrical whine the Lancelot Club’s fall slows to a halt and you find yourself gliding safely forward, though at a low altitude and without the speed that was meant to be carried over from the catapult.

“Are you OK Shirley?” Suzaku asks, dropping altitude and flying down beside you.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Just had a bit of an issue there.” You say, lying about messing up the activation sequence for the Float Unit.

“Alright. We’re going to need to scout ahead for the enemy now, do you have any suggestions on how we should do that? I'm technically the superior officer here, but I want to hear your thoughts..."

That's honestly a legitimate question, I don't think I've ever specified what the power usages entail.

Alright let's define that now.

So the total amount of power is shown as a percentile, in this case 60 minutes (1 hour) is 100%. As time passes the power of the Knightmare's energy filler is expended as it does various actions. How strenuous the activity is effects how much energy is used up in comparison to the time via a multiplier.

Low Energy Usage (Below normal usage): x0.5

Moderate Energy Usage (Recommended operational power usage): x1

High Energy Usage( Above recommended operational power usage ): x1.5

Very High Energy Usage (Beyond safe operational power usage): x2

So in this case Shirley will be spending 4 minutes scanning for enemies and since the multiplier is 1.5 for high energy usage, that will end up being 6 minutes.

"Alrighty, let's see what we can get..." Flipping a few switches and thumbing a button or two causes the Club's shoulders to slide open, exposing two eye-like sensors that began to pulse and feed a stream of information onto the interior cockpit screens...

Not quite used to the new Factspheres, you fail to use them to their full potential and get useless EM and inferred readings. You do however pick up comms chatter, but it’s garbled and difficult to make out due to the improper settings on your sensors.

“Get anything?” Suzaku asks.

“Uh, no not really. I’m not picking up any units on the sensors, but I think I’m getting enemy chatter. Can’t make out what they’re saying though…”

“Alright then, it looks like we’re going to have to move in to scout out the area ourselves. Do you want to split up to cover more ground or stay together? Moving in a group might make us easier to spot and hit.”

You and Suzaku begin your approach to the school at a descent altitude as you think on the matter.

“I think we should split up.” You state, noting that without enemy ECM systems and the small space of the area they’ll be searching it’s unlikely either of you would be unable to see if the other was under attack.

“Alright. It’s take the east half of the grounds and you can take the west, OK?”

“The east grounds are where the pool building is, that’s perfect for me.”

“Excellent. We’ll circle the main assembly hall once we’ve checked the area, if you see any hostiles try to avoid contact until I’m informed of where they are.”

And with that the two of you split up, each of you flying off in your own directions. As you find yourself alone you look down and note just how strange the Academy grounds look from the air. You know the school grounds pretty well, but seeing them from an aerial view gives you a greater appreciation for just how beautiful the place is.

The fact you and your friends must leave this place to the Black Knights angers you.

“Bastards! They’ll pay for this, along with everything else! The next person I fight is going to-”

Your eyes trace over the ground below and stop when you spy something white, illuminated brightly by the rays of the moon overhead. Zooming in you see the white bits of white sticking out of a pile of black tarps. A pair of green dots ignite and something moves, a grey barrel pointed skywards towards you.

Slamming on the controls you try to take evasive maneuvers…

KILL IT WITH FIST!

>94-5=89

You drop altitude and pull hard to the left, allowing the shots to go straight over your head soar into the distance. As soon as you have your VARIS Rifle raised and aimed the tarps are ripped away and a strange white machine flips out into the open, scrambling away behind one of the dorm buildings for cover.

“Shirley, what’s wrong? I heard gunfire…”

“I was just shot at by...something. I didn’t get a good look at it, might have been a Knightmare but it looked all wrong.”

“Stay where you are, I’m going to meet up with you…”

Silence falls over you like an obscuring veil and you stare intently at the spot where the white machine crawled off to like some kind of mechanical cockroach. No movements are made, no sounds are produced, and you’re left wondering if there are more around you…

The tension gets to you and you don’t decide to wait around or play it safe. You thrust the controls forward and charge, bolting across the grounds and flying over top of the dorms, thrusting your rifle down and turning your eyes down towards where you believe your enemy to be.

There, lying low to the ground and hunched up against a wall is a machine you can describe only as insectoid. It’s body is slender and it’s limbs are thin, appearing incredibly fragile not unlike the bugs some of the boys in your childhood would pulls the legs off of. It's head is hard to see, but it's both humanoid and still insect like with striking green eyes that glow in the dark.

It's gun is already pointed skywards, expecting your arrival from above. Taking aim you rush to beat your opponent to the trigger...

Your finger doesn't come closer to the trigger as a stream of coilgun fire erupts from the white machine’s back mounted gun, blasting off the right wing of your Float Unit and sending rounds scraping against the side of your cockpit. Immediately you begin to drop, slowly at first but then suddenly like a rock.

To minimize the damage to your legs you hit the ground in a roll, using the already damaged float system to take the brunt of the impact by hitting back first. The one winged module is all but snapped off at the crash and the Club is sent spinning into the air. You grasp, your side burning with pain as you’re tossed about and your jerked forward as the Club tumbles back to Earth.

Immediately you move to get back on your feet, snatching up the still intact VARIS Rifle from the ground and take aim to fight.

A pair of green eyes streaks towards you through the dark, one by one becoming a multitude as several white machines rush you with a clear an intent to kill as you've ever seen…

(Annnnnd, this is where we'll stop for tonight! Happy New Years guys, thanks for playing! I'll see you in 2015 next week)

Also, in case anyone thinks I'm pulling this out of my ass, I kind of foreshadowed this.

>“Sure there are some things I don’t get, like how Zero got all those refugees back to Japan or why those people from the EU are suddenly working for us, but ultimately I’m not worried about losing tomorrow's battle I’m worried about what happens after we win.
>>
>>37031632
I thought it was going to panzers not the bugs!
>>
>>37031632
the refuge part means we are probably fighting akitos old squad right now
also the fact that brittania will now be fighting against both a succesfull black rebellion and a still strong EU is bad news for us
>>
>>37031687
then we must hurry with the nukes!
>>
l>>37031632
Nah, I think it was obvious, especially with that Akito discussion.

So, now that it's obvious that the entire world is out to make Shirleys life worse, how long will it be until she finally snaps (again?) and goes on a murder spree?
>>
>>37031872
don't give him ideas for a rage system!
>>
>>37031936
>ripper mode
>>
>>37031632
If I may Crosswire, is it at all possible that we could temporarily give into our Geass to help us in live-and-death situations such as this where the dice seem to love to screw us over? Where we basically forget everything that makes us Shirley and only remember how to pilot a Knightmare, the mission, allies and enemies? Basically becoming more of a robot as we we Forget our fear and everything not important to the situation? With a chance of it biting us in the ass horribly once we get out of the trance?
>>
So can you tell for what ungodly reason you would want people to roll with modifiers?
>>
>>37034820
>once we get out of the trance?
If i understand this right, then there is no middle ground here, we either forget or we don't. Even the wonder drugs aren't really restoring Shirleys memories but rather keep her from forgetting more, and you want to willingly throw them away, potentially making our murdergirl a refrain junky?
And memories are probably her most prized posessions right now, so I doubt she would consider risking them willingly, even at such critical moments.

How's that diary by the way? Anything we forgot to write in and already forgot about?

>>37035813
Yeah, this was pretty bad. Maybe it's better to apply them to DC or something?
