“I’m sorry,” she whispers weakly and uninterested as the tip of the nozzles surges against the barrier of your skin beneath the shirt and the surface tension of your own shadow, “but the master thinks your fear of the project’s success is hampering your work, and too useful a resource to waste,”

Tearing open your shirt, you marvel at the dark and green lines spreading across your skin in arcane circuitry while white and green patterns likewise spread across your shadow. Before you can choke out your protest, they clench your throat. Your world goes dark.

Hanging back from the group, perhaps conspicuously, is Sasha.

You are Mikage Chiba, second year high school student age 15. You moonlight as the mysterious hero, Eclipse, protecting the innocence and well being of the Sailor New Moon, fourth to bear the title of Sailor Moon who is also your younger sister Koyomi. You were the third, your elder sister the second, and your mother the original. Traumatic events at the end of your tenure made you decide to retire from that life.

Besides that, you’re feeling pretty good about yourself. You just wrestled a bear more than five times your size. Not a monster bear either, a real bear. Though he was also adorable and fluffy.

Of course Midori complains about her budget, but you assuage her fears as the generous friend you are. If Sasha had any objections, he would have voiced them by now. If he had any weird comments about what happened, he will voice them when he’s good and ready.

“Well, even if its going to be pricey, at least it’ll be lighter fare,” Midori sighs.

Reaching out with your telepathic communication ability to both Kairi and Midori, you recoil in momentary pain as you hear only a feedback loop. Kairi steps forward to steady you, words that don’t make any sense pouring past her lips. She pauses to look to her ring in further confusion, just as you call out to Zoisite and Kunzite.

They call out to you as well, but their thoughts are as nonsensical as anything else.

There is an indistinct shout from out in the restaurant. You can smell fear, confusion, and anger wash over you from every direction. As though every heart and soul in the city was experiencing the same emotional distress.

Kairi is afraid, but she steadies you all the same.

The two of you rush out of the bathroom into the restaurant, though you notice the anger here is somehow lesser than what you felt in the rest room. Sasha is pointing at the TV turned to the news on the wall while shouting something at the old man behind the counter. There are no words on the screen that make any sense as indistinct sounds echo forth from the speakers. Only the anchor and images of an aura of colorful lights above Tokyo Tower.

Midori looks to you in worry, she motions to her ring and shakes her head while tapping her ears.

Sasha appears angry, though he doesn’t shout at the two of you as he had been attempting at the old man. No one seems to be able to understand one another, and you feel the panic growing and spreading.

You point at the screen Sasha has been pointing at, bringing it to Kairi’s attention. The two of you and Midori share a nod as you take both of their hands, feeling their confusion and worry abate by the natural balm of confidence you give them.

Putting more money than you probably owe down on the counter and knocking a few times to gain the old man’s attention, you head to the door. Only to pause when you hear a loud indistinct yell and feel an extra pull on your arm. Sasha has grabbed your wrist, you let him join the chain of folks hand in hand, he seems resolved to figure out what’s going on, And so the four of you are off.

The streets are chaos. Colors from traffic lights move in uncertain colors and patterns. People are growing worried, police officers seemingly unable to clearly assuage people’s fears.

You need to get to Tokyo Tower, and you can’t trust the trains to be running or safe right now. Roof hopping isn’t an option unless you’re totally ready to reveal a bit more of your supernatural nature to the boy, and have someone carry him.

He motions to you all toward Infinity Academy the next block over, pantomiming the revving of a motorcycle engine. Midori and Kairi look at him, each other, and then you questioningly. No eyes are on you in the building unrest.

Shaking your head at Sasha’s revving, he regards you confused as you slide a hand into your pocket. Activating the disguise pen you are enveloped in darkness, to his likely shock, and emerge from the receding shadows with messy long black hair and the the deep blue middle schooler uniform.

Arching your back and hooking your fingers, you howl at the sky with a snarl. You are pissed. You are fucking mad. How dare this fuck, whoever or whatever he or she is, deprive you of the ability to tell people that they can go fuck themselves.

Sasha stares at you, slack jawed, as you point up to the nearby rooftop and to the girls. They both nod sharply and concentrate to invest their magical energies while you cast your own spell of enhanced movement.

The girls spring into motion before you, to Sasha’s further concern, as you turn to him and stalk toward him. Looking down at him you smirk, and he meets your gaze with resolve. Beckoning closer, he closes the distance between you and you scoop him up. One of your arms rest beneath the back of his knee while your other hand supports under his arm. He is surprised, displeased, and embarrassed. A litany of garbage word you can guess at spews from his mouth as you take to the air. You smile ruefully, he is surprisingly light for his toned build.


Landing astride the other girls, Midori can’t help but suppress a chortle that comes out as some weird reverb of nasally sounds in the malady currently affecting the city. Together you begin leaping toward the scintillating light in the early evening sky. The wind buffets your long back hair behind you as so many whipping tendrils.

Its time to hunt.

I think this is more along the lines of the enemy striking while it knows the bulk of the heroes are distracted.
Only reason we know is because we were in a public place with a tv. At best the others are deep within a buffer of PIT security and it is reasonable to assume the briefing and secured areas are faraday cage equipped to protect against bugging.
When no one can read or understand each other, that protection blanket is going to cost them precious time before someone who sees a tv can get them to see it.
