Rowan steps out of the prison with Agrias in tow. The guard from earlier is standing outside and Agrias tosses him back his keys before the two of you continue on your way back to the inn to meet up with the rest of your group. The bandit you captured earlier certainly gave you (hopefully) good information as he not only told you where to find the bandit crew’s stronghold but also of its secret back entrance and the quickest path to cut the head off the snake.

“Oh yeah,” you say remembering something Agrias said earlier “you wanted to talk to me earlier about something Agrias?”

“Hmmm? Earlier? Ah, never mind that. With the information we got from that bandit its no longer important.” She states matter-of-factly.

You have some time before you have to get back to the inn.

What do you do?

How much micromanaging is shopping going to have?

>markets, shop for commodities and cheap, rare ore
Iron is great and all, but the sooner the royal blacksmith tiers up, the better
>bookstore? Magic shop?
>>
>>36922230
The micromanaging for shopping is probably going to have more importance later. Right now it would just be to buy consumables and basic weaponry.

Also we haven't returned to the capitol so the crew doesn't have the ability to talk to the royal smith to make weapons. yet

Also we have no mages or healers in the party yet so going to a bookstore is useless unless you want to just buy books.

Sorry for not making things better explained in the opening post.
>>
>>36922404
I was planning to buy ore for WHEN we return, so they don't have excuses like "shortages". That or trade it with blacksmiths in places that DO have ore shortages.

Commodities because silver is a commodity and boosting the economy is always good for everyone during war times.

Books, well, never understood how learning magic works in FE. I guess we can't study them in our downtime? Maybe buy the wind book, so that any new mage in our party will at minimum be effective against flying.

You don't really need to worry about resources right now. You are the Prince after all. And as stated in the first thread war times in the kingdom have ended recently for the first time in generations.

As far as I know magical affinity is something you are born with in Fire Emblem then studied over the years. Everyone has magical affinity but most people don't have enough to do anything with it. Books are required as both a focus and to stabilize magical spells and allow their use.

>>36922615
>>36922691
I'll go with this and have you swing into the shopping district.

As far as gold is concerned you have about 10,000 on you as a group. At home well lets just say being royalty in times of peace has its perks.

You decide that you’ll swing into the shopping district for some window shopping but mostly to get a chance to discuss with Agrias about the reason as to why you are out here in the first place instead of maybe actual military forces to deal with these bandits. After all why would a Prince, two other members of royalty, a royal guard in training, a member of the emperor’s house guard and two knight’s apprentice, be sent on a mission to deal with a bandit force with unknown size and capabilities?

You enter the market district and are greeted by a multitude of different sensations, the sound of people shouting out to you to try their wares and horses clopping on the street, the smells of fresh fruits, incenses, and the leavings of said horses, and the sights of many stalls.

“So what do you want to get first?” Agrias asks you as she looks around at the various stalls.

“Well, I’m not really sure. I king of just walked this way hooping something would come to me.” You respond with a shrug.

“Really?” She says with disbelief.
“Well then I guess I’ll take the initiative here there was a good number of things I wanted to get for us anyways.” She says cracking a smile as she leads you through the marketplace to various stores stopping first at the general store, then the weapon shop. You get several vials from a potions vendor which he claimed would cure all that ails you. At one point you stop at a book store and Agrias grabs a green book off of one of the racks muttering something about giving it to a friend back home. Of course you are left carrying all of the items as they get stacked higher and higher on the pile in your arms as Agrias leads you around with a smile on her face.

Finally after running around for what had to be at least two hours the two of you stop to rest under the shade of a tree on the outskirts of the marketplace. A chance to catch your breath from having to carry what seems to be more than enough equipment for the mission.

“So,” you finally get a chance to ask panting heavily as you do so. “why is it that out of the whole military might of Atea it managed to fall on the Prince and his rag-tag band of misfit friends to take out the bandits terrorizing this peaceful town?”

“Oh, that’s an easy question to answer. You volunteered us of course. Always gung-ho for adventure, originally you thought you would just need me, Arc and Felecia, of course your father persuaded you to take some of his house guard with him. Although I’m sure that a small platoon could have been spared to help us you insisted that you only take the bare minimum.” She says with a light laugh.

Geeze how suicidal was old you? You barely managed to survive with your dad’s guard and friends backing you up.

The wind blows gently on the hill rustling the grass slightly. What do you want to do?

You decide to sit back relax and enjoy the good weather, you are sitting in a beautiful location not far on the outskirts of town the birds chirp as they flit overhead and slow rolling clouds dot the sky.

After the moment passes for a bit you look over to Agrias again she is looking off into the sky with a faint smile on her face. “Just to ask, is this the first time I’ve done a mission like this? It seems like the old me was rather foolish to think he could get away with such a small group for a task like this.” You say somewhat self-depreciatively, or is it? Are you still the same person?

Agrias looks over at you still with the smile on her face, she stares for a moment before uttering the word you dreaded that you would hear.

“Nope,”

Your heart sinks a bit, just how stupid are you…

“but as you always used to say, there is a first time for everything. Now come on, let’s head back to the inn, I’m sure the others are waiting for us.”

“This means I’m going to have to carry all of the stuff again doesn’t it?”

“It sure does.”

You sigh heavily.

Back at the inn you gather up everyone and go over what the prisoner had told. Of the location of the bandit strong hold, of the secret back entrance, of the heart of the hold where the bandit leader is likely to be, and of the hostages being held there.

There is a brief discussion between you and Mark on finalizing the strategy and you decide to head out

You and your crew take the rest of the afternoon to get the rest and relaxation you need. You manage to grab yourself some much needed Z’s in that oh so comfortable bed from this morning and before you know it the sun is once again low in the sky. You all gather up down in the main lobby of the inn and with iron spear in hand and your javelin strapped to your back you and your crew head out towards the north.
===

Six hours later you find yourself in the dark and ominous shadow of a fortress probably erected during the periods of war between Atea and its southern neighbor. This was probably the base where recruits were trained before being shipped to the south western lines but the fortress has been long since abandoned and is now apparently the base of the bandit group.

The night is dark and filled with terrors, but there are no watchers on the walls of this fortress and the flickering of candle light an upper window tells you that someone is definitely home.

“Alright,” you mutter “the bandit we captured said that there should be a secret entrance to the fortress, perhaps an escape tunnel in case of a visiting noble being caught in a siege situation. Fan out and see what you can find.”

It only takes you about a minute or so to find a patch in the masonry of the fortress that doesn’t match the rest of it hidden behind some large bushes. You run your hands over the stone, it is smoother than the rest of the fort except for one stone which is very coarse.

You place your hand on the coarse stone and give a push and the stone slides back into a hole. You hear a pulley system go *thunk* *whirl whirl whirl* *ka-chunk* and the smooth portion of the wall slides upwards revealing a pathway below the fortress, its tall enough for a man on horseback but so narrow that your group would have to move single file. Luckily you doubt that the bandits have been alerted to your presence as of yet.

You wave your group over and the seven of you manage to slip into the tunnel.

After reaching the other end of the tunnel you find yourself in some sort of storage room. Pots and crates litter the room. There is an archway where double doors should be leading into the fortress itself but it appears that they were either removed for convenience by the bandits or deteriorated long ago.

Your group progresses unhindered before coming to a problem the path branches.

You barricade the hallway using the crates in the storage room to the best of your ability, before heading down the path to your left. You decide to attempt to hear if there is anything on the other side of the doors that line the hallway. You motion to the rest of your party to move up to the doors and check to see if they can hear anything.

You press your ear up to the side of the door closest to you and focus. One, two, the seconds pass like minutes and…

You hear nothing, no movement, no snoring, nothing. Not even the sound of rats skittering around an empty room.

You look over to your friends and they all either shake their heads or give shrugs to tell you that the other rooms are more of the same.

Suddenly Agrias looks at you and a light sparks in her eyes. “We went the wrong way. The prisoner said to go right at the fork.”

Damn it Agrias why couldn’t you remember that earlier.

You slap your palm to your face, how could you have been so dense. Did that knock to your head affect your short term memory as well as give you amnesia? Now that would be a nightmare and a half. You give a circling motion with your hand and then point back the way you came.

Your party makes it back to the first fork in the fort without having come upon any bandits yet. The barricade you created still appears to be untouched so you assume that no bandits have come this way.

You re-move all of the crates out of the way. At this point you think it has probably been about an hour since you entered the fortress so the time is likely somewhere around one in the morning.

You continue down the right hallway this time before coming across another fork.

You struggle to your lunch down as the smell overwhelms you. Your eyes slowly adjust and you begin to make out shapes. Bodies lie strewn across the dungeon floor some grasping feebly at the bars, others lie on their backs, some sit upright against the wall and you think you see one bound by hands and feet to the wall.

“W-who are you people?” you struggle to say as Agrias gets off of you apparently attempting to keep her lunch down as well. *Hurk* -aaaand Arc just lost his.

The one tied up to the wall speaks up this time, at least that’s who you think is talking it’s still hard to tell in the dark. “Men, and women of the village mostly. Or they used to be. Now prisoners of the vile Jidal and his men.” The figure says. The voice is also feminine in nature but this one although melodious has a venom to its tone. “I’m not one of them, captured while on my travels. But I am in the same predicament. Jidal keeps us here until we break, die, or get ransomed. Thoes he breaks either become more bandits for his forces or slaves for him and his twisted mammoth of a brother. But that’s enough out of me it looks like you have company.”

Company?

You hear stomping coming from the corridor behind you. The sound of at least a dozen footsteps down the hall. Fack.

-End session-

I know I promised combat but I’m tired.

Possible but crit fails can only happen out of combat and bandits have shut stats. If tg plays it smart it shouldn't be to bad but beware the boss man.

Looks at title. Looks back at you. Looks at intro to first session and then back at you. Looks at the fact evil uncle isn't dead and back at you. Looks at checkov's arsenal and back at you.
