Ask Languid anything: ask.fm/HellbornQM

You start laughing nervously. But as soon as you realize that’s what you’re doing, you cut yourself short. (+2 Stress: 28/100)

“They’re here?” Rowan asks.

Cassandra answer with a smile.

Rowan stands before you realize you need to do the same, and heads out the door. Cass lets the two of you head to the stairs. Ro goes down first, and you follow.

The first few steps are a little difficult for some reason, but you affix a vice grip on the railing and keep going anyway.

Will comes into view first. You haven’t seen him since New Years, now that you’re thinking about it. He’s dressed to the nines in a silvery gray tuxedo, which makes him look even leaner and speedier than you expected. The way his hair’s styled back and the solemnness of his cold blue eyes lends him a strangely aquatic look. He flashes you a brief look returning to Ro.

Then you see Baron. Now, the thing is, Baron’s always had looks going for him. But the other thing is that him being a goofball nullified those particular charms. Except right now, he’s laying down quite the impression to the contrary. He’s traded out his beaten up hoodie and jeans for a pitch black tux, with a crimson vest and tie, as well as one of those little pocket dealios. He’s got his hair in a downy, feathery style. It looks so soft you can almost feel it with your eyes.

Isaac flanks both of them with a camera, with a look of utmost concentration on his face as he films the event, with Harvey looking on.

Ro hits the bottom of the stairs and glares at him. “Ugh. Dad, turn the camera off!”

“You’d better do it,” Harvey advises, gleaning something from the unspoken threat in Ro’s voice.
>>
>>36915176

Isaac silently executes one last pan before complying.

As soon as the coast is clear, Will zips over to Rowan. “You see? Everything turned out great,” he says, continuing some conversation that you aren’t privy to. “You should see yourself. You’re practically glowing.”

Ro furtively checks herself in the mirror to ensure that she is not, in fact, glowing.

And then you find your gaze intercepted by a wall of black. Or rather, Baron. Dude’s freaking tall. You glance up at him.

He tries to take in your appearance. “Wow,” he says, after a moment. Then he laughs. “I feel a little under dressed.”

You feel more than see Cassandra coming down the stairs.

>Uh. Thanks?
>Yeah, I have that effect on people.
>You’re in a tux. There’s nowhere but dressing down from there, man.
>You look... nice.

Before I spend the rest of the day in a metal box speeding towards family for Xmas, I'll just say we should tell Ro and possibly Isaac about the voices message quietly, since they might be warning of it all going to the wall tonight. Probably not, but stand by for fun given Satt or a Carrie moment or both etc.
>>
>>36915279
I'd be fine with telling Issac but I don't want to have ro worrying about stuff tonight.

How do you people visualise Baron? I never thought him tall but, there you go. I'm having hard time making a proper face for him.

How? Every other time he shows up, there's a mention of how he's over 6'2".

so i've thought aboutt when we're going to tell them about our secret, i think the best thing would be to invite them to go camping at the forest and start by telling them that magic is real and showing them the lightning sword then slowly easing in to telling them about angels and demons.
and i think we should ask them to go camping with us after prom(but obviously talking to Ro about it before)
>>
>>36915482
i'll be sure to remember that for the future
>>
>>36915513
I was thinking the same thing, taking them to Muir woods where we're in absolute control and (should) know if there are unwanted eyes around.

Also agree on brining it up after the prom.
>>
>>36915513
>>36915560
I like that.
>>
>>36915513
>>36915560
I like it, but it might not be that easy to convince them to go 'camping'. They don't seem the type.
>>
>>36915188
FUCK YEAH, HELLBORN QUEST!

Also
>You’re in a tux. There’s nowhere but dressing down from there, man.
>>
>>36915630
we can imply that it's important that they come along or imply that we're going to tell them our secret
>>
So is Baron's red and black suit more subtle hinting or does he just have good taste?
>>
>>36915630
Well, they did invite us to crazy long bike ride, so I wouldn't rule it out.

We could also just spend a day in the woods and come back before night falls.
>>
>>36915657
I don't think the forest is the best place to tell them.
>>
>>36915678
Any specific reason?
>>
>>36915678
It's an environment where we know about everything that's going on for miles in every direction, where better?
>>
>>36915678
I agree. It's sorta creepy as fuck isolate them out in the woods like that and then drop the "oh btw I'm a barely-human predatory interplanar being"
>>
>>36915678
if they were to freak out for a moment there's no harm done
>>
>>36915720
Well it can't exactly be a place with lots of people. I guess home could work too.
>>
>>36915720
we'll tell them about the magic first and we won't do it at the moment we get there, maybe the same evening or the day after
>>
>>36915720
we can ease in to it by telling the about magic and a couple of other things first and then make the not 100% human thing the big finale
>>
You snort at the comment. “You’re in a tux,” you tell him. “There’s nowhere but dressing down left, man.”

“My brain agrees, but my gut says otherwise,” says Baron.

“Whatever. I mean. You look… uh. Nice,” you say. Realizing that sounded kind of lame, you try to explain yourself. “Like. Uh. I forgot you were so tall.” Ugh. So stupid. (+1 Stress: 29/100)

The comment makes Baron a little uncomfortable. “It happens,” he says. “By the way –“

He’s cut off by Cassandra. “Everybody ready for pictures?” she asks, coming to the bottom stair.

After several minutes of annoying posturing and photo taking, you, Ro, and your dates break free from the house. Getting pictures taken with a hundred people stuffed in around you is the worst. (+5 Stress: 34/100)

A limo awaits you on the curb.

“Best part of the night,” Rowan says, almost giving the vehicle a hug.

You give Will an incredulous look. “Seriously?”

“Our parents are splitting the bill with your parents,” says William.

Baron perceives your surprise. “We’re all going together,” he tells you.

>Ha ha! Got you. I totally knew that. Totally knew everything.

I'm having this scene play out in my head where we do the big reveal.

And then Vik tells us that her family has mages in it, so she thought our 'secrets' might be related to the supernatural but didn't want force the issue just in case they weren't.

And Will turns out to be an Atlantean or something and is totally wit Rowan not being a 'normal' girl.

And then everyone looks at Baron and after a moment of uncomfortable silence he says "Well, I can burp the alphabet in one go."

>>36915925
If I remember correctly, we had a feeling of impending disaster but when we spoke to the shadows they reassured us. And then echoed some of the night after our last rage.

>>
>>36916210
Country because why not.
>>
>>36916210
Could make sense. On the other hand, Guitars. rap ususally doesn't have them. Now I can't recall how exactly the guitar was described, but I think it was an electric one, so that would point somewhere along the lines of rock or metal. Also, trash metal, the trashiest among the trash, would kind of fit the whole 'demon and blood'-things.
>>
>>36916249
>why not
because country is absolute shit tier
>>
“Geeze. When do people discuss these things?” you ask, more yourself than anybody. “Are there meetings?”

Rowan turns around. “Sierra, I swear I told you about the limo like, three times,” she says.

You comb your memory, but come up blank. “Was I doing stuff when you told me stuff?”

“I don’t know. Maybe?” she says.

“You’ve got to make sure I’m listening,” you say. “I mean, it’s not like… whatever, who cares? We’ve got a freaking limo!” Saying this, you rush to the limo, yank open the door, and climb in before anybody else has a chance.

Will, Baron, and Rowan climb in after you.

There’s a cooler stocked with canned soda, a television, and everything smells wondrously of leather. It’s like you’re in a living room – a living room with wheels and heated seats. You bounce on the ultra designed, delightfully smooth bench, moving over for the newcomers. “How expensive is this fucking limo that Isaac has to go halves on it?” you ask, a heady influence of luxury hitting you dead on. (-3 Stress: 31/100) You grab an icy can of Coke and crack it open.

Rowan rolls her eyes. “It’s not about money,” she says.

William shrugs. “My Dad’s the one that suggested the limo in the first place,” he said. “You couldn’t stop him from covering my part of it.”

Baron inspects the mini-fridge. “There’s a mini-fridge inside the mini-fridge,” he says, awestruck. He gets a root beer out from inside. “You think these cost extra?”

“Nah, course not,” you tell him. Although you’re pretty sure they do. Doesn’t really matter, though.

He still seems unsure, but goes for it anyway. He holds out his can to everybody. “Let’s have a toast,” he says.

“Guess we need some of those,” Will says, getting a soda for himself and Ro.

Before anybody can start toasting to anything, you set the topic. “To cash money and limos!” you say.

Rowan gives you a prompting look.

“Guh. And friends,” you add, without much real enthusiasm. You join your soda to everybody else’s.

“To cash money, limos, and friends,” Baron replies.

“And parties and guys in tuxedos,” Ro adds.

You all down your drinks. You go until the burning carbonation forces you to stop.

One wild limo ride later, your ride joins the procession of vehicles dropping people off on the curb of a fancy looking building. It’s tall and concrete, with weird Egyptian hieroglyphic stuff carved into the upper portions. It looks like some kind of theater or convention center or something. A steady gaggle of well-dressed people press forward into the structure.

Will gets out and holds the door for everybody. “What is this place, anyway?” he asks.

“It’s the Masonic Center,” Baron answers, after he swings out. “They’ve got a dance hall. It’s actually pretty cool.” He turns around and offers you a hand as you’re trying to get out.
>>
>>36916931
Dude no. Haha no! God no.

Just tell them that Sierra and Rowan aren't exactly human. Telling shit like how it was Sierra going on a rampage and killing those civilians is a big no-no. An extreme example but I think you get the gist.
>>
>>36916979
Thats so not going to make it worse.
>>
>>36916988

You don’t recognize what’s going on until you’ve already missed it and gotten out. Not like you needed help anyway. Making sure nothing gets caught, you shut the door behind you and turn toward the entrance. Mingling scents of fancy perfumes and colognes fill the air. The odorous background noise makes it hard for you to concentrate. There’s too many particular flavors to pick out. Peaches. Something like evergreen. Flowery feminine stuff. And that’s not including the taste of excitement that presses in around everything.

There’s something else here too, though. Some kind of power lingers around this building. You can feel it.

You come to yourself and find Rowan and Will are already heading off, arm in arm. “You want to do the arm thing too?” Baron asks, offering you his in a semi-joking manner.

>Let’s beat them inside. (Go fast)

HA.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

At least the Hallows don't have to worry about her getting teen pregnant and spawning another heir to the throne.
>>
>>36917091
Then what's even the point of the (dice) in the option? It seems counterproductive.
>>
>>36917511
High risk high reward.
>>
>>36917511
So that people don't bitch that they didn't know it would be a dice roll.
>>
>>36917511
To let us know we'll have to roll. Also.. what table top have you played where you get to roll then decide your action? Ever?
>>
>>36917526
Not what I was asking.

>>36917533
It's pretty obvious when things are risky to anyone paying attention. The (dice) marker only makes people metagame.

>>36917541
You misunderstand me. I don't understand why the (dice) comes up at all. This has nothing to do with the order of deciding and rolling.
>>
>>36917511
Because, Sierra had some amazing freakouts
>>
>>36917571
Again not what I was asking.
>>
>>36917570
>>36917591
Because Rule 0.
>>
>>36917609
I don't see how this is more fun. Well, okay, I do see it, people automatically just go for the option that includes rolling, to have fun. But that's metagamey.
>>
>>36917624
I'm not 100% on this but I'm pretty sure people have avoided at least one dice choice.

I get what you mean but it's either that or spring the dice roll on players and I'd wager many would dislike that greatly.
>>
>>36917624
Whatever you say.
>>
You eye Rowan and her boyfriend. They look so… adorable. Or whatever.

You glance up at Baron, and the offered arm. “Maybe a little,” you mutter. Very lightly, you take his upper arm in hand, and you go. You’re careful to not lean into him or anything. The material of the tux feels rigid under your fingers, but underneath you can feel warmth. You’re barely taking Baron’s arm at all, but the important thing is that there’s some kind of interaction going on there, and you’ve got everything under control.

Baron notices your carefulness, and though somewhat curious, slows his step and keeps quiet about it.

The glass doors are all propped open, and brightly dressed Seniors mingle about all over the place. You enter, feeling a brief static crackle as you pass through the doors.

“A little chilly in here,” Baron notes.

“Heh. Yeah,” you say. You hear music echoing down the hall, along with the distinctive pulse of a heavy bass. You tug on Baron’s arm to get him to walk faster down the vaulted hall.

Paintings of patriotic stuff adorn the walls. You notice a picture of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Or the Constitution. Or whatever. Anyway, George Washington’s there. He’d probably be proud of you for saving the flag that one time. You think. (-2 Stress: 29/100)

Up ahead, huge fake ice crystals hang from the ceiling, and an ice sculpture of a swan serve as sentinels of the dancehall entrance. A couple teachers and student officers or whatever check everybody’s tickets and style and whatnot.

“They really do go all out for Seniors,” Baron says, thoroughly impressed with the ice swan.

You squint over at a sign. National High’s Frozen Formal. You do not agree with the thematic choice, but as long as they don’t play any music from the thing or make stupid references and stick to the cool ice décor, you think you’ll manage.

Your party presents its tickets, and is granted entrance. You let Baron free so you can look around.
>>
after the prom we ask them(ask Ro first) if they want to go camping next week, then we timeskip until then so we can tell them this session
>>
>>36917645

The whole hall is drowned in blue lighting, with glittering white lights being reflected everywhere from the chandelier, which you suppose is supposed to be like ice or something. Big glittery snowflakes hang from the ceiling and walls. There’s another ice sculpture, this one an angry looking eagle, and a snack bar with tables and chairs and all kinds of stuff.

People are still arriving. The crowd is constrained mostly to the area directly around the DJ and his sound system, while lots of people are merely milling around and talking loudly at one another to be heard over the music.

Looking around, you can see a few other open doors, trying to lure kids into exploring the exhibits or whatever there is to see here.

Rowan is overtaken by wonderment at the whole scene. “I was expecting more cardboard cutouts of Elsa,” she says.

“You want to dance or eat first?” asks Will.

Ro turns to you. “What are you guys doing?” she asks.

“What are you guys doing, anyway?” jokes Baron, looking to you.

I like to be clear about when dice get involved. With dice, potentially anything can happen. You could roll anywhere between 1 and 100. I'd rather be clear about when that's going to happen than leave people guessing.
>>
>>36917670
This. Let's break it down with this fool.
>>
>>36917738
I guess that I'm assuming anything can happen no matter what we choose. I mean, a bad choice is going to have bad results even if there are no dice. And it should. There is no (bad choice) bracket there to warn people.
>>
>>36917761

I don't roll dice for every decision. Dice mean that to some degree, the results are even out of my hands.
>>
>>36917789
The probabilities are quite good with dices in any case.
>>
>>36917761
You don't like something
>Shut up and just role the fucking dice (dice)
>Bitch about it to the Qm who's been running it this way since the start with no complaints (bad idea)
>leave
>>
>>36917829
More like I'm asking about it because it doesn't make sense to me. And I even got a reasonable answer from him.

Meanwhile all you're doing is shitposting for no reason. Good work.

>It’s a dance. I don’t know what this loser’s doing, but I’m dancing.
>I’m going to have the first dance of the evening is what, Baron. C’mon.
>>
“It’s a dance. I don’t know what this loser’s doing, but I’m dancing with him is what,” you say, needling Baron with an elbow. “C’mon.”

“Whoo!” Ro shouts.

Everybody goes to the dance floor and does the dance thing. Lots of the kids here don’t know anything, and that leaves your battle-hardened dance team free reign to cut out a section of the crowd. Even your party’s weakest link, Baron, is pretty good. He’s even improved a little since Halloween. He’s no dance master, but he’s got coordination and enthusiasm, and is generally fun.

You notice the self-conscious feelings of a few people who begin doubting their paltry dance-skills as they witness your dancing. Pathetic. (-2 Stress: 27/100)

As time goes by, people start pouring into the dance hall. The buffet’s surrounded by the mob, and the number of dancers has easily tripled, leaving Baron, Ro, Will, and you all surrounded by a sea of blue-lit party-goers. You can’t hear anything.

But all this moving and stuff is making you want to move in ways that you can't right now. Every once in a while you find yourself checking to make sure your shadow isn't getting its groove on. It's hard move yourself while keeping another part constrained.

You don’t need a break, but you could use one. And there being the thing with you being in a Masonic lodge, you figure the best thing to do is poke around and see what you can see.

You get Rowan’s attention and dance so you get close to her. “I’m going to have a look around,” you tell her in a muted tone.

“Don’t go anywhere you’re not supposed to,” she says, giving you a look of warning. She probably means no walking through walls. Whatever.

You stop dancing and get everybody’s attention. “I’m going to go find the bathrooms,” you shout. “I’ll be right back.”

“We’ll be here,” Baron shouts back.

You slip out from the crowd and leave the noise and feeling of the dance hall. The halls are cooler and seem harshly lit in comparison. You start heading in, giving wide berth to a couple that’s making out. Up on the ceiling, there’s weird symbols and crap carved into the wood. The décor seems kind of stately – lots of columns and old timey woodwork.

When you’re alone, you feel a tingle go up your spine. Somebody’s following you.

>Don’t let them on to you. Walk around like normal and go back to the party.
>Confront whoever it is.
>Confront whoever it is, but play dumb.

Somebody’s following you? YOU!? This is ridiculous. You step down the first hallway that presents itself, step through the corner, glide through an unoccupied study, and shimmy through another edge to come back into the main hallway, albeit some distance behind whoever was following you. (-2 PP: 31/33)

You adjust your jacket and peek into the hall. Finding the coast clear, you speed over to the hall you faked going down and peer past the corner.

A young woman, twenty maybe, stands in the dead-end hall, trying to guess between a number of doors. She wears a plain black dress, with a small purse tote ting. Her build is thin and wiry, and her face bears oddly sharp features. Her black hair is styled into punky looking faux-hawk thing, with the sides cut short.

You get a weird sense of deja-vu looking at her.

You give up the guise of stealth. “Have we met?” you ask.

At the sound of your voice, the woman twists around and drops low, as if ready to move in every direction simultaneously. She also gives you a better view of her face. Her super gaunt cheeks and shifty eyes give you enough to recognize her.

Upon recognizing you, Xanissil straightens up and contorts her face into an approximation of a smile. “Well met,” she says, her smile beginning to seem more like a wince.

“Goddamn Xan,” you say. “What the hell are you doing here?”

She drops all pretext of being polite. “This place is the maw hunters and wingtreaders,” she says, glaring at you defiantly. “Thou shouldst not tread grounds such as these alone.”

“Yeah, well, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there’s like three hundred people here,” you say. “I’m not alone.”

“They know nothing!” Xan argues.

“Yeah – right there. They don’t know anything. That’s how this works, get it? Nobody can tell me from any of them. Pretty clever, right?”

Xanissil clenches her jaw. “As thou sayest,” she says.

“Where’s your brother? You bring him too?”

She inclines her head in a curiously bird-like motion. “He is present,” she says, not making eye contact.

“Look. I appreciate the whole idea of keeping me safe or whatever,” you say, “but I mean. I can’t just have bodyguards round the clock.”

Xan looks like she’s doing some math in her head. “It poseth no challenge to us,” she says. “Split amongst three, protecting Thy Terror seemeth to me a simple matter.”
Heh. ‘Thy Terror’. You like that. (-2 Stress: 25/100) Now that you think of it, having a round the clock honor guard actually would have come in handy a few times. “I’m not making any decisions right now,” you say. “Just… I’m more worried about you being here than me being here. I mean, I’m not here to trash the place, I’m a guest. You kind of stick out though. How’d you even get here?”

She suddenly gets way cagey. “It was… by car.”

You frown. While you get the feeling she won’t lie directly to you, she’s definitely not telling you something. “Who’s car?”

“The big yellow of Ranthix,” she ekes out.

There’s no way she drove here by herself, and there’s no way Ranthix let anybody borrow his hummer. And there’s also no way that Ranthix would actually care enough to assign somebody to watch you unless something was going down.

“Well if Ranthix is here, at least somebody knows what they’re fucking doing,” you say. “I’m going back to what I was doing, and I do not want to see you again, got it? Unless my hair’s on fire, or somebody shoots me, or whatever, got it?”

Xan gives you a shallow bow. “Got it,” she says, relegating herself to your judgment.

“Damn right,” you say. You walk back toward the party, grumbling to yourself. Stupid Xan. Stupid mission impossible BS. Stupid craziness. It’s just a dance. One dance, without any life and death struggles or magic duels or whatever. (+6 Stress: 35/100) You’ll have to make Ranthix spill the beans after this is all over.

You find your way back to the party.

“Sierra, darling!”

You turn to find Vikrama heading your way. She’s wearing a way ornate gold and blue Indian style dress thing.

She points behind her, toward the entrance. “The bathrooms are right over there. Where on earth did you get to?”

>Hey Vik. How’s things? Good? Good!

You make a show of dawning understanding. “So that’s where they were,” you say to yourself. “I was looking around, but just wound up wandering around. This place is kind of weird.”

“Egyptian sculptures not your thing?” Vikrama asks, teasing.

You laugh it off. “I’m just trying to get back to the dance now. Night’s young,” you say, leading Vikrama onward. “Your date around here someplace?” You start looking. Maybe he’s hanging with everybody in the mob?

“Your Vikrama doesn’t need no man to enjoy herself,” says Vik, smiling. “I’m here stag.”

“Well if whoever should have asked you out didn’t, you’re better off without them,” you say.

“Why thank you,” she says. “I’m of similar opinion. But now I’ve found you, I’ve been charged with bringing you back to the action.”

“Oh shoot,” you say, snapping your fingers.

With Vikrama in your possession, or you in Vikrama’s, you get back to the dance at hand, diving through the outer rings to get to your kernel of a dance empire. You pick up where you left off, this time with a lot bigger audience. Or at least target audience – you haven’t laid out your game yet. Even if you don’t expect any crazy dance duels to go down, you still reap plenty of fun from keeping it cool and showing up everyone else.

You see lots of people you know, everybody more pretty than you’ve ever seen them. Teachers and chaperones watch with varying degrees of entertainment or concealed disapproval at the party before them. Although, despite their lackluster intervention, some of the dancing’s getting a little uh. Forward. You can’t help but laugh at some of the things people call dancing.

Ro looks kind of put out by the inappropriateness, but does a good job of ignoring it. Following her lead, you do too.

Anyway, dancing’s it’s all about style, and the atmosphere of everything’s got you pumped. You could probably dance forever. Movement in the crowd slows. The beat of the last song’s dying down, and people are craning their necks to try to catch the start of the next number.

But it’s not a bass kick or mad synthisized riff that starts it off. It’s just a very calm guitar beat. “Honey you… are a rock,” comes the singer. It’s Coldplay.

Everywhere people start slow dancing and all that.

Baron pauses for a second, apparently trying to make up his mind about something. It doesn’t take him more than a second before he straightens his tie and turns to you. “Do you want to dance?” he asks.

>Pfft. This isn’t even dancing. It’s just couple cuddling.

>>
You look around at all the cuddling couples. You kind of don’t want to put yourself in that position, and yet, you kind of do. It’s not like Baron’s going to get all up in your grill. It shouldn’t be a problem. Not a problem at all. Just you and Baron, dancing. Yep. (+4 Stress: 39/100)

“Sure,” you say, a little less sure than you mean to sound. “I mean uh. It’s a dance, right? What do you think?” You try to put some attitude into the words to let Baron know you mean business.

“I think sure sounds good,” Baron says. Mustering his courage, he surprises you by taking a step forward and taking your hand in his, and puts the other on your waist.

You feel rigid, like you’re a little wooden carving or something. You attempt to affix your eyes on the red thing in Baron’s breast pocket and shut out any other sensations out of your mind. You try to stop noticing how freaking tall Baron is, but he’s so freaking tall. And he smells like Crest brand toothpaste and no-nonsense deodorant – probably something sporty for all the dancing. Good planning.

After a second’s confusion, you remember you need to do something with your other hand, the one not being contained by Baron’s. You maneuver it and manage to somehow get it moving away from your side toward Baron’s shoulder. Just a little further. And right… there. Yeah….

Baron’s voice threatens your concentration. “Are you… okay?”

>Yep.
>Just… just dance.
>Don’t say anything. You need to concentrate.
>Eh. Kind of uh. Never mind. (Abort)
>Dance, but keep as much distance as possible.

Her horns are on the side of her head and go backwards, curving up and down to protect the sides and a bit of the top of her head.

So it'd do nothing at all.

If she was positioned in such a way that the horns were "inside" someone when the glamour fell, we have no idea. Tossup between glamour being unable to fall if there isn't enough space, it taking a chunk out of the horns, it taking a chunk out of Baron, or it pushing Baron and Sierra apart as it manifests.

You become painfully aware of his presence. “Just… just dance,” you say. You think about trying to look like you feel better than you do, but that would require you to direct attention away from not shuddering or recoiling from Baron. (+5 Stress: 44/100)

You sense confusion from him, but he does as you direct. You keep your feet moving along with his as you slowly shuffle about.

It’s going… okay. Kind of. You just need to not think about the pins and needles in the hand Baron has clamped in his vice, or the surging feeling in your stomach. (+9 Stress: 54/100) Move feet. Stare at red thing.

“Green eyes, yeah the spotlight, shines upon you,” you hear from somewhere.

You decide to latch on to the music, and start swaying slightly with the rhythm.

“You look great tonight, by the way,” says Baron, trying to start a conversation. “You know, there was something I kind of wanted to talk to you about.”

You can’t focus on the music and Baron’s voice at the same time. (+4 Stress: 58/100) Other than that though, this isn’t… well you can’t do this forever, but it’s not… totally horrible. Kind of horrible.

Baron is more suspicious than previously. “Are you sure you’re okay?”

If Languid says this is true, then maybe it's something Sierra can mention to Baron with a view to giving this another shot when we're calmer, even if that's at another date. She clearly wanted to dance with him, she just has... issues, and that sort of suggestion would at least communicate that it wasn't that we didn't want to dance, just that it's hard.

Baron is going to have an awful lot of new information to process soon. Suddenly that sexy badass/moderate nerd he's dating is actually a demon predator princess, and while she has issues being touched she's A-Okay with her touching him if that's alright. Plus her adoptive sister and his longtime friend is an angel, and the demon literally gave her her wings recently.
>>

>>
>>36923672
>she's A-Okay with her touching him if that's alright.
Where are people getting this from? It's never been about who initiates, it's the contact itself. Every single time Sierra's tried to touch someone in any nonviolent way, there's either been a (very)high DC roll for it or Languid flat out vetoed it.

“Yeah. Everything’s good,” you say. But even as you say the words, you know they’re not true. You step away from Baron, getting out of his grip, and are almost surprised to find yourself on the dance floor. Right. You were dancing, and now you’re free. That is, now you’ve stopped.

You go through a list of plausible excuses, and seize on what Baron just said about having wanted to talk about something. “Let’s go someplace quiet so we can talk,” you say.

“Yeah,” says Baron. “Good idea.”

You lead Baron away from the dance and, you guess, away from everybody else. You don’t know if you wanted to get out of the dance entirely, but your excuse leaves you little room for finagling. And maybe you did want to get Baron alone at some point anyway. It’s just a little earlier than you would have thought about it.

You go down a hall, and finding people scattered here and there, go further so as to avoid the presence of people altogether.

Eventually, you find a couch sitting in a hall, completely devoid of life.

You sit him down and sit down yourself. “So,” you begin grandiosely, leaning on the armrest away from him so as to achieve a better view, “what’s this thing you wanted to talk to me about?”

Baron gives you a weird kind of look. “About that dance thing. I mean, I didn’t mean to pressure you or anything,” he says. You feel a downcast kind of emotion from him.

>Ugh. Look, just forget it. It’s not you, it’s me. I don’t want to talk about it right now.
