/tg/ - Traditional Games

Welcome to the LVII installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."

Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole.

It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords, the cutthroat merchants of the East India Trading Company and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous monarchs like Maleficent, the Horned King, Grimhilde and Jafar, mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog.

It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.

Forgot a good piece of fluff from the last thread there. A potential epilogue to the DTP's adventure and transition to our first expansion: Disney Villains Victorious: GRIDLOCK:

http://pastebin.com/DbtTgskE

Thanks, I had forgotten to put that in the OP.

Hate to bump a thread that I've started myself, but its an evil necessary to keep the project I've until more of our regular posters come back. We're very close, as I understand it, to completing the core game and moving on to the modern expansion, and is like to propose that we should rewrite the OP when we do start in earnest so as to freshen things up a bit and start the next stage of the project off in the right foot.

Spotted it in a thread yesterday, and I've been waiting for said thread to die before I posted it.

The villain I'm plugging away at is the Bokor-Necromancer discussed 2 threads ago. His shtick is that he appears to the dead and dying and offers them a little more time in the realm of the living, though once that time is up your body will serve him as a zombie and your soul goes to the Friends. He's going to play like Facilier Lite; if anyone has suggestions for traits or powers, feel free to throw them at me.

Fun fact: Royal Consorts are, technically speaking, royalty. They also have to be married to their partner. It doesn't literally mean 'royal whore'. Even though that would be pretty funny.
>>
>>36915135
Oh, I remember the discussion on this guy. Let's see...

TRAITS:

Let's Make a Deal: +4 to Persuasion while trying to convince a character to accept a bargain or transaction.

Friends and Associates: This unit is followed around at all times by three "Associates:" shambling, undead Mooks at his beck and call. By "firing" these Associates, he can summon a Lackey-Level Friend from the Otherside instead that may or may not heed his commands.

Fast Talker: +1 to Deception for each character in the group this unit is trying to deceive.

A Man of Wealth and Taste: +2 to all Academics rolls on matters of art and culture.

That Voodoo You Do: +4 to Occult where Voodoo and Necromancy are concerned.

POWERS:

The Shambles: Spend one Will Point. This unit may summon to his side an army comprised of 11+2X zombie Mooks with X undead Lackeys where X equals the number of players.

The Funk of 40,000 Years: Spend 2 Will Points while the Shambles are in play. This unit and his undead minions enter into a song and dance number of such terror that it grants +10 Intimidation and reduces the PC's Endure by half.

Living on Borrowed Time: Spend three Will Points when all strikes have been used up. Instead of dying or suffering defeat, this unit makes one more deal with his Friends on the Otherside. This restores his strikes and boosts most of his stats by +3 but halves his Prevent Harm and Endure scores.

Mary might be better off in the long-run having more adventures with Hannah.

By the by, what will your new enemy's personality and theme be like? I came up with some traits and stats that made him out to be both a businessman and a showman, but that might not be what you're going for.

The personality would be much like Lucifer himself when he makes his deals, and the appearance is pic related. Keep playing with what you have, though; I think more than one of the Shadowland's villains should be the same sort of wheeler-dealer as Facilier.
>>
>>36916305
Lilo and Stitch? That technically takes place in a modern setting even though it includes aliens, so it can work.
>>
>>36916521
In fact, I would even go as far to say that every Villain and Inner Circle of the Shadowlands should have deal-making worked into their shtick.
>>
>>36916576
>>36916305
Personally speaking, I think we could and probably should include those "spacey" films that take place in whole or in part on the Earth. I liked the idea of WALL-E being represented by a trashed wasteland around the Great Lakes/Midwest area full of advanced but broken technology and malfunctioning robots with the Axiom either landed in the middle of it all or geosynchronous orbit overhead.
>>
>>36916634
I agree, but how would you distinguish them from each other and make them flavorful? Give them different specializations or "goods" to sell?

For example:
>"Lady Luck:" A pretty young thing who is willing to exchange _________ for streaks of good fortune.
>>

>>36916764
Specialization would be the key, yes. It should also be that top of the shelf stuff - life and death, mind control, etc - always has to be paid for with a soul, while lesser stuff can be bought with things other than souls.

I think I'm satisfied with how I've statted the necromancer, I just need a little more time to write the fluff.

Sickness is a big thing in voodoo, it could be like a cheaper death (as the Friends make no promises that the sickness will actually kill the target), with health conversely being a cheaper life (blind men see, cripples walk and all that good stuff). Fishermen and farmers may also benefit from control over certain aspects of nature.

Let's Make a Deal: +4 to Persuasion while trying to convince a character to accept a bargain or transaction.
That Voodoo You Do: +5 to Occult checks concerning necromantic voodoo.
>>
>>36917260
---Powers---
A Second Chance: Bokor can bring back the dying and very recently dead other than himself. This does not cost a Will point; however, he cannot do so unless a bargain is struck, and he only strikes bargains that are in his favor.
Day of the Dead: At any given time, Botor has 6d6k4+2X zombie Mooks and X zombie Lackeys at hand where X equals the number of players. For one Will point, he may summon 2d6 additional zombie mooks and one Zombie Lackey. Zombies follow the same rules for the undead as the Cauldronborn but are otherwise normal mooks and Lackeys.
Because This Is THRILLER!: When using Music, Bokor and his undead minions enter into a song and dance number of such terror that it grants an additional +1 to Intimidate for every 4 zombies present in addition to its normal effects. This takes one action per turn on part of each of the zombies.
JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME!: Spend three Will Points when all strikes have been used up. Instead of dying or suffering defeat, this unit makes one last deal with his Friend On The Other Side. This restores his strikes and boosts his stats by +4 but halves his Prevent Harm and Endure scores.

---Equipment---
Grim Scythe: +3 Melee
Fine Tuxedo and Top Hat: +1 Prevent Harm, +2 Persuasion
Skull Mask: +2 Intimidate

Wouldn't just a little more time be nice? To say goodbye to those dear to you, to get revenge on your enemies, to finish some important task, to have one last night partying it up in New Orleans? There is a man in the Shadowlands by the name of Bokor de Mort who has a mysterious way of arriving before those on death's doorstep and offering just that: a little more time. The price, of course, being your soul and body; your soul will go to The Other Side, and your body will serve Bokor as a zombie. The better your body is, the more time he will give you, but beware, for his abilities as a collector as second only to Facilier himself. There are rumors of a few who have escaped him, who live their half-lives in secrecy, but it would be foolish to try to emulate them.

Bokor certainly knuckles under to Facilier but technically doesn't work for him; Bokor works for the most powerful of Facilier's Friends On The Other Side, the one he will only refer to as "Baron Samedi". There is an understanding that as the more successful dealer, Facilier's words should generally be heeded. Bokor makes many dealings with Facilier, offering his zombies as a supply of labor. He usually receives worldly goods in return (rum and cigars being his favorites), but Facilier has given him a few souls to cover "the ones that got away".

Bokor de Mort, for all his charm, is quite rude. He has the bad habit of handing out racial epithets, misogynist slurs and every other category of insulting name under the sun like they're going out of style. (Some of them are actually going out of style, but that's beside the point)

Well?
>>
>>36916305
Tron
Incredibles
Big Hero 6
Meet The Robinsons
Treasure Planet
Wall-E
Fireball Charming
Gargoyles

Any more we can think of?
>>
>>36917310
I really like it, especially the way you've characterized his relationship with Facilier as more of a symbiosis or two "salesmen" working for the same set of bosses. They cooperate for convenience's sake, but Bokor is not subordinate to Facilier and is a terrible force to be reckoned with on his own.

The idea of letting a few people escape their debts with Bokor is pretty good for giving the PCs an NPC ally and proving that there are loopholes and such that can be exploited. What sorts of half-lives do you suppose they're leading? Are they essentially sentient undead, or is this something not worth thinking out at the moment?

I think I might try to brainstorm a "Lady Luck" type villain now to compliment your life and death dealer, but am a bit lost as to what she trades for it.
>>
>>36917598
I suppose they can escape if they make sure their end doesn't fit. For example, if Bokor offers them one last night in orleans, they can simply never GO to new orleans. As long as they don't spend a whole night there, they get away free
>>
>>36917598
Why not just have her deal in luck? You can buy a streak of good luck from her, though she'll give you a streak of bad luck later on to pay for it. If you're misfortunate enough to die during the bad luck streak, the Friends get your soul.
>>
>>36917647
That would work REALLY well if the character was portrayed as a coward thinking herself or himself ever so clever, but then decides to go into New Orleans anyway to help save their new friends from Bokor despite knowing that it would fulfill the terms of their contract.

Sort of like that Twilight Zone episode "One For The Angels"

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5EZG0MjGZps
>>
>>36917669
Oh, that's pretty good. I like that. That could work.
>>
>>36917647
>>36917598
I actually envisioned him as offering a set amount of time to prevent such shenanigans; the ones who got away have found some means of hiding from him both mundanely and magically. Sounds like it could be up to GM interpretation, though. As for Lady Luck, better luck might be represented by rerolls and extra unkept dice.
>>
>>36917755
Maybe he started offering a set amount of time BECAUSE one person exploited this loophole to begin with.
>>
>>36917669
I'd do that, and explain in the fluff that since total luck is conserved, the whole thing requires very little effort on the part of her Friends. That's how she can keep at it even if she goes through long streaks of failure.

>>36917814
It could also be that every now and then he provides life on a basis other than time because he derives amusement from seeing them desperately hunt for a loophole.
>>
>>36917696
You could also have something like a certain episode of the Twilight Zone.

>>
>>36917755
How about instead of lady luck we call her something like this:
la dame de joueurs
>>
>>36917973
She could have several names. A French creole name in the Shadowlands and Lady Luck in the Old West? She almost feels more like a Western villain than a Shadowlands one. Maybe she took her show on the road and is a bit more playful about her line of work than the others.
>>
>>36918131
I'd say she has several Names not to conceal her identity but to "keep the Boys guessin'"
>>
>>36918131
She just needs to be charismatic. All of the Friends' top dealers have to be charming and friendly, otherwise they wouldn't get as many deals.

4 KB JPG
>>36918239
I imagine her as looking like this, somewhat
>>
>>36918239
Oh, exactly. She'd make for charming and delightful company, and most likely be something of a flirt or a tease, as is befitting her status as a dealer in luck and fortune. I'm just wondering if she might be more outwardly playful and carefree so as to appear less evil and intimidating than others in her line of work. She might even be the sort of villain that the PCs might need the services of from time to time.

>>
>>36918641
I'm thinking Charming/Nimble. I've only for an hour or so left at work and then I'll be able to head back home and get something real done in this thread. I'm liking the idea that Lady Luck might be one of the more amiable of those working for the Friends on the Otherside, perhaps even to the point of becoming regarded as a "necessary evil" by the PCs.
>>
I'm surprised we don't have some sort of seductress-type villain for Facilier up yet. Manipulating emotions through seduction is one of the very oldest ways of manipulation and deal-making, only goes to assume one of his top villains would be specialized in it.
>>
>>36919223
That's at least part of the personality I had in mind for Lady Luck, but it might be better to go more "playful" with her and let the seductress be the one who makes deals based around love and lust instead.

Well, at the risk of stating an unpopular opinion, I did not find Frozen nor its songs particularly great. Though Kristoff was a pretty cool guy (all hail the Disney Prince of the Strong/Sensible master race). And I'm not going to say I disliked Anna because would be a blatant lie but damn girl, that 4 Sensibility got you into some serious shit.

No inspiration for snow golems, but I have an important question: is Elsa in Castle Arrendale or back up in her ice palace on the mountain top? Because if it's the latter, just imagine what sort of haul you could get from pillaging it D&D style....
>>
>>36920143
Is cool. Over at /co/, they can get downright venomous toward that movie. I figure it's best to just be viewed as a decent movie instead of a superlative one.

I think she might vary her location.
>>
>>36920143
I've seen a lot of people who watch Frozen later come out with only mediocre opinions of it. It's either due to being contrarian or because of high expectations. I saw it at a pre-screening for Sony about a month before release, so my expectations were personally blown out of the water and I consider it a really good film at least, but I watched it long before any ratings came in.
The ice palace isn't the actual castle. It's doubtful Elsa ever left it.
>>
>>36920568
This. People go in expecting the GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME EVER based off hype, and are disappointed when it doesn't literally blow their eyeballs out.

>>36920143
If I'm remembering our early-project brainstorming rightly, once Elsa had her little "episode," the Capital of Arendelle was at the epicenter of the Great Blizzard that blew up around her, and was transformed into an icy mausoleum filled with the Snow Queen's flash-frozen citizenry. Else herself retreated to the isolation of her Ice Palace, which she kept expanding and adding onto until it was a maze of crystalline additions clinging to the mountain peak from which she could look down upon the city below and mourn what she'd done.

Arendelle Castle and the Capital City, meanwhile, has been claimed by Ice Anna as her home and personal playground, where she's spent her time posing the flash-frozen citizens in fanciful tableaux of what she assumes daily life must have been like before the blizzard while trying to learn what it must have been like to be Anna and be human.

Ice Anna definitely has 4 Sensibility as well, or maybe lower.
>>
>>36920568
>The ice palace isn't the actual castle. It's doubtful Elsa ever left it.
Maybe my reading comprehension is shit, but did you mean she's in the ice palace or the stone and mortar castle?
>>
>>36921035
"She isn't here!" Mary said, shouting at the Ice Girl. "We've searched through EVERY room, and nearly been killed by these snow goons, and NOW you're telling us that the princess is in another castle?!"

"Actually, Elsa's now a queen." Ice Anna said.

Hannah and Lazarus were quick to grab the mechanic's arms before she could use her wrench to smash Anna to pieces.
>>
>>36921204
Wonderful.
>>
>>36921006
And I recall being fond of the possibility that defrosting Ice Anna would reveal the real Anna. Now that I've actually seen the movie I've worked out a way that could come about (residual troll magic mindfuckery plus Elsa's love for her sister)

>>36921204

>>36921204
>Hannah and Lazarus were quick to grab the mechanic's arms before she could use her wrench to smash Anna to pieces.

>>
>>36921320
>the possibility that defrosting Ice Anna would reveal the real Anna

As I remember it, part of Ice Anna's pathos and appeal was that she wasn't actually the same person as Real Anna, but an imperfect re-creation that is desperately trying to become her for Elsa's sake.

well for one thing, most of Disney's TV output would fit here(not counting stuff that would fit in the Toons supplement like Duck Tales, or Bonkers), as would most of Pixar's output(kinda picturing the Ant Colony from Bug's Life getting brought in, but due to magic has been scaled up towards Human size), indeed off the top of my head the only Pixar movies we're currently planning on leaving out would ironically be Toy Story and Cars, due to both being incredibly hard to integrate into the setting(although the Buzz Lightyear cartoon has been brought up for inclusion before)
>>
>>36921366
>Mary had gotten increasingly frustrated by Ice Anna's super chipper but extremely dense personality, and this, probably compounded by the fact that she's an island gal in the frozen north, has lead her to want to shatter the frozen construct's head with her wrench. Hanna and Lazarus restrain her to keep this from happening.
>>
>>36921441
If you fucked with her head around the right way, though, the real Anna would be indistinguishable from an imperfect re-creation of herself. I mean, things as mundane as traumatic events and alcohol consumption have both been known to trigger dramatic changes in personalities, so surely it is not outside the power of magic to save one's personality as a jpg file.
>>
Figured I would try my hand at stating up a version of IceAnna that everyone else could pick over to improve. Stated her like a Zero-Tier character with a couple of extra's. I used a reworked version of the 'Enthralled' trait to make the Ice Golem trait since it seemed to fit.

Name: Anna II Icicle Boogaloo
Species: Ice Golem/Human
Role: Ice Pop(Charming Gal)
Tier: Zero

Stats-
Robustness: 7
Agility: 9
Intelligence: 9
Sensibility: 3
Charm: 12(4d6k3)

Will: 3

Strikes 3+2x

Role-
Being a fast talker and a fast singer, he gets one extra Move each turn that he can use to roll on Deceit, Music, Intimidate, or Persuasion, but only against Mooks.

Traits-

-Ice Golem
This unit is a creation of Elsa; it is immune to non-magical mental effects that would alter its allegiance, and receives a +3 bonus on any checks that would give it the means to fulfil one of its master’s commands.

-Hakuna Matata!
+2 to resist on any sort of mental distress with Endure.

-Zealous Champion
Pick a cause(Restoring Elsa's sanity). You cannot be dissuaded from your cause by Illusions or social skills unless the other party spends a will.

-Land of the Midnight Sun
Bonuses to survival and travel in cold regions, for obvious reasons.

Powers-

Rock and Roll will Never Die: Spend a will point; Apply Music against Tin-Ear characters with only a -5 in effectiveness!

Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?: 'Anna' can shape and manipulate ice and snow with relative ease allowing her to safely manipulate the frozen population of Arendalle. This power is only usable while Elsa is 'calm'.

Skills-
Acrobatics: 3
Academics: 3
Prevent Harm: 4
Endure: 4
Persuasion: 3
Travel: 3
Music: 8

Toy Story would either be very easy or very hard. Very easy, if it's just a minor setting detail and there's some mention of wealthy toy mogul Al and an oddly creepy daycare center. Very hard, if we try to actually give Lotso-Huggin-Bear a chunk of the United States.
>>
>>36921569
Ice Anna should probably have more strikes than that, considering that Hans's sword shattered when it struck her. It's probably not normal ice, more like some kinda magic permafrost.

Also, it would lead to pissed-off players trying and failing to shut her up only to find their icepick split in half.

personally I'd just stick non-Toy versions of a lot of the characters all over the setting, be a lot simpler(we've talked about a human Sheriff Woody before, and again this would allow the Buzz Lightyear show to be used which would help fill out space quite a bit, and give us a proper Big Bad Guy for Outer Space as well)
>>
>>36921320
Im staunchly against the real Anna coming back. I feel as if it would be too happy of a ending, and it would be a really cheap way to solve the problem.

Elsa should be forced to get over problems herself
>>
>>36921569
I think that this is a pretty good as it stands, but I will definitely give it a bit of thought and see if any improvements come to mind. I really like the inclusion of "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?" because it makes sense to me that as a construct that Elsa (subconsciously?) poured a lot of love into, she'd be able to tap into a little bit of that ice magic herself.
>>
>>36921714
Unless you could only get Anna back AFTER Elsa had already been de-insanified.
>>
>>36921714
I do find myself agreeing with this line of thinking. Elsa's story is all about teaching her how to live with who and what she is and with what she's done. Bringing Real Anna back if things manage to thaw out feels just a little bit too "all's well that ends well" and lessens the lesson, so to speak. That said, I do like the idea of Ice Anna persisting through the thaw, with Elsa having to learn how to accept this construct as a real person and not simply her sister's simulacrum.
>>
>>36921824
Nah, lets not. By letting Anna come back, that opens a flood gate of heros coming back.
>>
>>36921857
That could be a sort of touching scene, Elsa thinking that the real Anna is back and hug her, only to reveal that its the Ice Anna's mind
>>
>>36921992
A while back there was a set of three endings written for Ice Anna you might be interested in. They were:

>Bad
>Elsa the Snow Queen is attacked by the party or is completely unmoved by their overtures of friendship, and does battle with them, bringing her full power and all her madness and grief to bear against them. As they fight, Ice Anna is stuck on the sidelines, desperately trying to stop them from fighting, and just before the killing blow is struck by either side, she leaps between them in an attempt to stop the battle. Ice Anna is struck, shattering into a thousand pieces, causing the Snow Queen to scream "SISTER!" and immediate stop fighting, dropping to her knees before Ice Anna's deliriously smiling and quickly fracturing head. "You called me sister..." She says before falling to pieces, leaving the once terrible Snow Queen a sobbing wreck, unable to do anything else to stop the party in their task.

>Bittersweet
>Elsa, the Ice Queen, is not entirely convinced by the party's negotiation techniques, and may as before begin to fight the adventurers in her throne room, with the party and Ice Anna working together to try and get the frosty monarch to see that things can still get better and that she is not a bad person at heart and can still do what's right, even if it won't fix all the problems she's caused all at once. Through the impassioned speech of the party leader and the heartfelt encouragement of Ice Anna, Snow Queen Elsa finally manages to wrestle control of her powers once again, causing the blizzard to break and summer to return in full force. Seeming relieved and in so tired after it's all over, both the party and Snow Queen Elsa turn and look for Ice Anna to congratulate her in her help. They find her, settled down peacefully by the open window, a balmy breeze blowing in. She has thawed out and once more is no more and no less than the flesh and blood body of Princess Anna, but she is smiling and looks happy in her rest at long last.
>>
>>36922084

>Good
>There is no battle, no flinging of frost and arrows, no clashing of ice and steel. The party, along with Ice Anna, confront Queen Elsa not as enemies but as people who care and who understand the pain and the guilt the young monarch has suffered alone with for so long. They speak to her not as a squad of would be conquerors but as a group of new friends, as well as two very old, if peculiar friends. Ever so slowly, the fears stop falling from Queen Elsa's eyes, and she can bear to face these people, can bear to face Ice Anna, and can bear to face herself. Ever so slowly, the wind stops howling outside, and the great blizzard dissipates, leaving only sunny skies and quickly thawing snow outside. Rushing to the throne room's balcony the party sees that not only has Arendelle begun to thaw, but so has its people. All those flash frozen in the streets far below have begun to revive, as life and spring return. The party knows their job is done, but tell Queen Elsa that they need her to come with them, to bring her power and her might and her heart to help defeat The Lord of Bald Mountain. To this she agrees, though reluctantly, determined to go out and do good in the world to help make up for her mistakes of the past. She smiles to herself at the idea, mistakes off he past, and calls Ice Anna and Olaf out into the balcony as well, conjuring snow squalls above their heads to keep them frozen in the growing heat. Smiling to Ice Anna in a painfully shy way, she tells the construct that, while she is away adventuring, she is going to need someone to help the people of Arendelle recover and rule in her place. She says that the people of Arendelle could use a kind and familiar face on the throne, even if that face does belong now to a new friend.

>As Ice Anna cracks away, Elsa wails in absolute despair as the storm rages more and more

>Glinting in the light, kneeled in the snow, lies the frozen form of Elsa. Her face is buried in her hands, and her whole body simply....Froze in place.
>She will never hurt anyone again. But even as they leave the statue behind, they can hear in the snow and the wind, the soft sobs of the Crying Queen

I've realized something - Disney is like Evan Dahm's Overside (Rice Boy, Order of Tales, Vattu) setting. God (Walt) didn't directly create the world, but created its foundation and nine Giants (Nine Old Men) to actually form the world.

If this gets used by us or GMs, there's also the issue of Thalia's Heir's great-grandfather Wilfred E. Jackson, a potential 'secret' Tenth Old Man, although I'm sure there's other extra Old Men out there.

How are we gonna work the rest of the world into Grid Locked, presuming this is AFTER the heros weaken Chernobog?
>>
>>36923598
To be perfectly honest, my own inclination is to set Gridlocked on the North American continent and disregard the DVV world we've created so far, making the expansion a cohesive, stand-alone experience. In fact, I wouldn't even make Chernobog the BBEG. That being said, I'm up for whatever everyone else wants to do, and am excited for the expansion regardless.

>>36923582
Nice work there!
>>
>>36923765
Then who would be the BBEG for a 'modern' campaign, if not a 'modern' chernobog? I like keeping him involved, adds to the whole big evil feel. I liked the piece of writefaggotry Ghost did yesterday implying older Heroes were only able to seal, not kill Chernabog.
>>
>>36923894
Maybe king Candy, seeking to spread his influence even farther, goes on to infect TIME itself, and drags the closest tech worlds
>>
>>36923894
Technically speaking, according to fluff if the DTP heroes or a similar sort were regarded as 'canon' for a Modern expansion, Sverd and maybe some of the other Heroes would be immortal. I like the sealing away idea, and I think that this could be explored further - maybe the heroes of old aren't able to do anything about a new risen threat (Chernabog again, maybe) because they've lost that 'protagonist'-yness but can offer advice or help out the 'new' heroes. It would be retarded to make this canon, of course, but we could mention it in the splat as a potential plot hook, especially since we're probably giving the DTP heroes a prominent role as sample characters and features in art throughout the PDF. Mite b cool.
>>
>>36923894
Oh, I really liked the bit of writing done too, it was top notch, and l do like the idea of Chernobog as an evil god to be banished for a time rather than killed. My qualms with adding all the modern Disney properties to the preexisting ones is that we're going to have to not only work out how those modern properties interact with each other, but also how to modernize each of the core-game lands to keep everything balanced and dynamic.

That being said, I'm not entirely sure what might take Cherry Bomb's place as the Big Bad of the Gridlock expansion. My inclination would be that it was superscience and not magic that is the cause for all these different properties getting smashed together, maybe as a result of experiments being run by that company in Big Hero 6, which I still need to watch in whole.

Again, this is all personal inclination and spitballing more than serious thought. Just rambling ideas.
>>
>>36923978
I see no reason against including the DTP in Gridlocked as NPCs, or encouraging GMs to add in old characters from old games as NPCs
>>
>>36924086

>>36923978 introduces an interesting plot hook we could suggest, that the DTP characters/not!DTP characters managed to fix up the old world through various ways and seal away Chernobog for a time, maybe being immortal (Crystals, Grace of Walt, Sverd fugging elsa, etc) and helping out the 'new' heroes as NPCs along the way because they've lost their ability as protagonists for whatever reason.
>>
>>36924086

Chernabog's awake again, and he's changing tactics to avoid the same sort of defeat he previously suffered. Out with the magic, and in with the technology. As the only entity with magical power, surely he cannot be defeated in this universe.....can he?
>>

>>36924233

>>36923894

The basic idea I had is that there is NO WAY to permanently kill Chernabog. His influence is permanent upon the world. The Dark Winds of Bald Mountain will ALWAYS be blowing across the world.

They feed upon greed and hate, and are always there to 'help' those who give in to their darker sides. If the Winds get enough fuel, and enough darkness and suffering spreads across the world, then Chernabog can rise again in physical form and REALLY mess things up.

There is no 'Happily Ever After' and never will be again.

That's not to say that there can't be victories, that the Winds can be stilled for a time, and that there's no hope.

Of course, the Lord of Bald Mountain is fine with losing every once in a while. It happens. He rests, lets new Kings arise, and waits.

Because what can cause more suffering than someone knowing that there once was a better time than now? People will search for heroes, and despair all the more when they fail. The Kings will reign in their petty fiefdoms, but the Lord of Bald Mountain's rule never ends.

I think it ties into the Nobledark concept. You can't beat the big bad for good, but you can have major victories against them. You can make the world safe for you, your children, and maybe your grandkids...but your great-grandkids are on their own.

>>36924086
Oooh, I like that idea of the heros failing to save the day, and from that result, the worlds merge

>As Hiro looked desperately at the drifting Robot, he looked across the abyss as what seemed to be rifts began to form. Baymax's eyes re-adjusted as Hiro looked onwards. In one, he saw a glistening ship in a world of rust, and white machines patrolling the crimson world. In another, winged humanoids drifted through the skies, upholding the law of a insane mastermind. Another, pirates rode across the stars, and another, A world of incredibly powered people controlling physics and a world of neon and black monoliths. As he floated away from baymax, he saw his plush companion drift into one.

>When he returned to his world and looked around. There wasn't enough time.
>>
>>36924148
I don't know. I love the DTP stories and think they're some of the best original content in these threads, but I don't think we ought to "canonize" their characters in ways that make them important to the core and future settings. They and their story exist as wonderful examples of the types of characters that exist and tales that can be told within the world of Disney Villains Victorious.

By all means, we should continue writing and drawing up a modern Disney Team Prime for the new expansion, but I feel we shouldn't make their characters hard-canon in any way.

>>36924271
Also, the reason I had 'Marcus' find Sverd's sword and 10-N3 (or 'Ione') find a Hannah V.I. is to show that while the First DTP is gone, their legacy, and the hope they created, remains.

Also, they probably left plenty of secret caches of knowledge and weapons for the Modern DTP to find. Since they knew Churn Bubba would be coming back.

Spitball ideas for our upcoming expansion work.
>>
>>36924328
Oh no, of course not. I was talking more about the idea of there being 'old' heroes, and suggesting those could be the DTP characters, who are basically just our sample characters, for GMs who are just running a game of modern without having run a vanilla game. Since they're well-fluffed and developed characters, we could offer potential plot hooks/development around it and give them characters to bounce off.

Wouldn't at least Sverd still be alive, though? Villain Immortality methods suggest Elsa can keep people alive so long as he doesn't cheat or something. Pretty sure at least Mary would be too, and likely Lazarus. I doubt Jeremiah would want to LIVE FOREVAAAAA though and dunno if Hannah would.
>>36924430
I was thinking something like this too. Suggest having little pockets of 'old world' influence where heroes of ages past still exercise some power and control.
>>
>>36924480
Well, Hannah's the only one I can make that call for. If the others say that their guys live on, then that's fine.

As much as Hannah would like to be immortal, she's not, and doesn't want to pay any horrible price for it. By the time San Fransokyo comes into being, she's long gone.
>>
>>36924542
Immortality is fairly easy for exceptional people to obtain, though.

I guess it doesn't particularly matter since all this would be is a suggested plot hook for GMs, which they can modify at will.

personally I'd just have the modern/future stuff be mashed into the standard DVV setting, heck most of the stuff set on Earth in that Supplement is set on the West Coast of the US anyway which is a blank slate for the most part, so there's definitely room for it, outside of there, most of the other stuff is either in Space, VR, or can just be minor elements in the setting, after all the core setting already has Time getting torn a new one thanks to Cherry Bomb, so might as well take advantage of it

How the fuck is Santa Anna, Slim, Facillier, or hell, even the Aurora going to deal with Super heros?

How would Frollo and Maleficant feud when the world is being eaten uo by Drössel's robots and CLU's programs?

Could Ursula even compete with AUTO's Axium cosmic cruise liner?

Or how would Racliffe stay the hoards of Dorris and her cronies with nothing but long rifles?

Unless we make CONSIDERABLE cuts to the existing settinh, i don't think it would work

2. Captain al-Bahdros
3. Mother Madeline
Other Suggestions:
1. Hyenas from Lion King
2. Zira from Lion King 2

>>
>>36925295
personally I assume most of the Modern and Future stuff was ported over in much smaller amounts than the past stuff(outside of a handful of cities, and Hawaii it'd be mostly individuals getting grabbed), so it's numbers that holds back the modern stuff(also I figure the Axiom is parked on the Moon while AUTO tries to comprehend what has happened to the world, most of the other robotic and AI threats are busy rebuilding after losing most of their infrastructure in the transistion, Zerg hasn't reached Earth yet, Treasure Planet isn't really all that important for this, and the Supers are busy keeping their cities from collapsing into anarchy), also most of the Modern stuff has been in the DVV world for less than a year, so they're all still disoriented by what's happened and trying to figure out what to do next(I imagine the American powers are tripping all over themselves to ally with the new arrivals, especially Rourke)
>>
>>36925492
Eh, that seems to be giving the new players the short end of the stick. Why bother putting them in if they are almost not there at all? Besides, if were going by the villains winning and taking over, there really shouldn't be all that much stopping them. Syndrome, for example, could start churning out super gadgets for his men, and Xantantos could begin steam rolling right away with his nigh immortal Gargoyles. And if Zerg is only just getting here, and Long John silver isn't included, why even bother with space?

If we limit the expansion, we limit the possibilities of the players.
>>
>>36925492
I don't know about that though!

That approach leaves us with the core game but with little bits of modernity thrown in because we're afraid to disrupt the balance already in place. If we're going modern Disney as Fuck with Gridlock, we're going to WANT superheroes and robots and bank robbers and mad scientists and sentient programs everywhere! I feel that reining ourselves in to avoid unbalancing the core game's nations is going to hurt the finished feel of the expansion.
>>
>>36925638
>>36925654
I just think making a whole new setting for this supplement is an awful idea is all(also in regards towards the modern villains, I was thinking we should get a bit more creative with how a villain might "win" so to speak), besides we'd still have a reasonably large area covered, what with much of the West Coast, and several Cities throughout the rest of the US being modern(remember the US is stupidly huge after all)

>>36925739
It doesn't have to be new, it just has to fit. The problem is, its hard to fit them into the current setting to the point where they are both relevant yet not over wheming. We make them too small, and they become irrelevant. Make them too big, and its hard to justify nearby nations existing.
>>
>>36925800
That sounds like the best option, but what of the nations where the old ones were?also, we are at the point where that would start crowding the map even more
>>
>>36925739
I support the idea of having a stand-alone modern setting personally, but if everyone wants a continuation I'm definitely not going to complain. Can I ask why you think a stand-alone, modern setting is a bad idea? I'm interested to hear your take on it and maybe you'll show me something I'm missing.
>>
>>36925906
Not the guy you've been talking to, but I do agree that a modern setting might be better as a stand-alone setting. The process of getting from the "current" DVV to a "Modern" DVV might be somewhat difficult to figure out, just based off of how much of the Disney settings are fantasy based as opposed to sci-fi based.
>>
>>36925953

I feel like we could make a transitioned setting work pretty easily by focusing on >>36925800 and assuming older heroes have cleared out the old new world kings.
>>
>>36925977
But what's stopping the new kings from taking over the old nations?
>>
>>36925800
well I don't like the time-skip idea either, especially since either one of those solutions robs us of a lot of what makes DVV such a good thing, the Villains, their interactions with each other is a huge part of what makes the setting so great

>>36925844
the way I see it, most of them would be in a position that while they can't topple most of the major powers, they are also potent enough that they can't just be stomped all willy nilly either, especially since a lot of the Modern enclaves are more Diplomatically inclined than other lands are

>>36925881
again most of the modern stuff is in the western US which is currently mostly empty so we have more than enough room for them(and for other supplements they either are in alternate dimensions like the Toon stuff, or could be put into tiny domains, like most of the non-Disney villains that will be brought in via the non-Disney supplement)

>>36925906
I just feel it lacks a certain oomph to it is all, not to mention it would probably sap some of the creative energy of this project by moving to a new setting, plus seeing the reactions of the established rulers to all this new stuff coming in is just too great a thing to just drop(especially all the current US leaders trying to get the new guys on their side)

I really don't understand why you keep saying the modern parts are only mid western. Its only big hero 7 and Lilo and Stitch. Incredibles, Meet the robinsons and Gargoyles were more eastern based and Wall-e is supposedly going to be set around the great lakes. Hell, if anything, most of the Modern settings would be placed in north east, not the south west.

I can see what you mean. There is a degree of danger, by making Gridlock a stand alone setting, of losing a bit of project continuity. I feel though that there is such a HUGE gap, technologically, culturally and thematically between the DVV Core and DVV Gridlock properties that they will be very hard to mesh together in a satisfying way, and may end up creating a whole that isn't quite as good as the sum of its parts. Also, I can only speak for myself when I say that I would actually be excited to work on a new DVV setting where we got another opportunity to invent everything afresh.

I might just be a short-sighted worrier though, and your own perspective is just as valid and important to this thing as mine is. Whatever everyone decides, I'll just be excited to work on the project.

Not the guy you're talking to, but I agree with you/him as well.
>>
>>36926166
well it'd still be in areas that aren't currently covered for the most part(heck I don't think we've said anything about New York in these threads, so we could easily stick in NYC), also Incredibles is in the San Francisco area(they make multiple references throughout the movie that imply it's in SF or nearby)

>>36926195
I'll admit I don't worry too much about clashing in regards to tech levels, but then I've been treating this setting as a variation on Rifts or TORG since the beginning
>>
>>36926254
You, see thats the major problem. These techlevels are just too different. Dorris, for example, could conquer just about any of our old natioms in short order. Syndrome alone could kill off half our older villains
>>
>>36926178
>>36926163
What i was saying is i don't yet where the campaign gonna start.

And for a short session, may use "weaker" king such as Frolo over ones like Hades. Most of my players like Ancient Greek context.so it might be about retrieving a Macguffin without alerting a titan or even succesfully eacape from.the land of one of the villains.
>>
>>36926383
Oh, you mean just a single-shot kind of thing, not a full campaign.

I think he means, which Disney property/DVV Land he wants to start his campaign in.

>>36926106
As someone who's always been better at roleplaying and fluff over roll playing and crunch, I would just recommend that you keep things "Disney as Fuck" as we've been saying. Think of the best parts of the Disney films you've seen, and try your best to figure out what made them memorable and how you and your players can make some memorable moments yourselves.

>>36925744
Those deleted characters make for some VERY interesting reading and more than a little food for thought.
>>
>>36926438
Yeah, we're gonna have some vacations and doing it regulary would be impossible to schedule.

Since they are all pretty new to that, i wanted to a lighter system. But two.of them would like to do classic DnD so they may be regular wizard and such.

Can't read for now on. Should i expect them to be On-A-roll after 5 session by standard ways?
>>
>>36926543
>>36926192
I'll keep those in heads, thanks
>>
>>36926577
On-a-roll is based off the players, since it's DISNEY they develop via goals which are usually tied into character development. Depends on what your players goals are. Also,
>regular wizard
There isn't currently a PC magic system, nor is there planned to be. Some people are working on a magic splat, however.

>>
>>36926380
admittedly I've been ignoring Meet The Robinsons(feel it might be necessary, after all wasn't Dorries only beaten in her source material through Time shenanigans), and as for Syndrome, I've got an idea for him winning in a way that means he's still around, we don't have to worry about him creating dozens of Synthodrones, and it takes things in a very different direction for him that I'll go into if anyone is interested
>>
>>36926839
Look man, we included Alameda Slim, we can throw in Dorris. Besides, we really ought to decide when and where the setting takes place before we discuss who gets in or not

I do want to say that DTP was never meant to be canon anymore than any PC's story is canon.
>>
>>36929047
>>36924328
People are more suggesting that they could be used as an idea of more 'canon' adventurers for the MODERN splat, as heroes who helped out before things got modern and shit. As in, something that says 'and so heroes of old sealed chernobog five gorillion years ago. If you wish to give these heroes a presence in the world, the sample characters for the core are good examples of former heroes that can be utilized. If you wish to do so, then in the new world, Hannah is off being dead/doing blahblahblah and has these artifacts and realtions to use as plothooks, Lazarus is off being dead/doing blahblahblah and has these artifacts and relations to use as plothooks, Sverd is off being dead/doing blahblahblah and has these artifacts and relations to use as plothooks, etc.'

I think that's the general mindset about it. It's just something that would be cool to utilize and provides some easy hooks/solid NPCs for GMs, it's not like a hard canon kind of thing.

I'm really slow on this, but I think this is plain stupid.imo.
Personally I think it should be set either hand waved or just having it as a new world. No sequel stuff, especially since Atlantis and the shadowlands fit in there just fine, in fact I think they fit there more than the old dvv.
So I'd just have it as just having these guys three instead of ye ole Europe.
Heck, allot of the settings work whether or not it's modern.
So I'm against having it as a sequel.

Hey guy who originally suggested Cherno Alpha as over-badguy and here's my two cents. The way I viewed it was similar to how the Persona 2 games dealt with Nyarlathotep, the Shadow of Humanity; by banishing him from the planet and timeline.

However because he's a cheating cheater who cheats, he will find loopholes to work his influence (such as planting the seeds of madness that spawn the events of Persona 3 in Kirijo's grandpa) or outright trying to find a vessel to manipulate. Chernobog being banished from Earth by the Walt is a great thing but there would still be a shitton of damage to Time and then you've got all the years of hostility between the peoples and the kingdoms and all the other leftover badness to deal with before BOOM! Here comes the Galatic Empire, driven to conquer Earth because the Dark Side told Palpatine to. Or something like that. Get what I mean?

Anyhow, time to stat Tabaqui. There's no pictures of him, not even concept art, but he is described as mentally deficient in all ways, so I'm going with On A Roll Strong/Nimble. I'm also going to look over the beast pastebin and see if I can come up with a unique hyena statline.
>>
>>36932450
I think that I sort of understand what you're saying insofar as Chernobog broke things pretty good. While you can polish up the pieces and smooth out the sharp edges things will never be completely whole again, and his influences will be felt far after his defeat.

Personally speaking, I'm still of the opinion that Gridlock should be built up as a stand-alone setting with its own BBEG just so that we can create a more thematically cohesive setting.

>>
>>36932405
Probably just fluffing and statting said villains and realms, perhaps as a stand alone, or just have them there and take out the inappropriate villains of the original DVV.
Perhaps keep Churning bob the way he is asking with Firebird, and have the big C bring these villains. Instead of radcliff you have Xanatos, stuff like that.

Indeed. The scars of his influence on breaking Time will be felt forever, even if Cherno Alpha is remove. Still plenty of place for conflict between more developed nations, lingering malice from King's reigns, etc etc to allow future expansion conflict

Is not bad thing to have new BBEG influenced by past evil Kings. Is not bad either to have Cherno still influence. The choice options of rumors is still best part of DVV says me.

Chernabog’s natural weapons, as well as any weapons he wields, are treated as evil-aligned and epic for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

Domains: Chaos, Darkness, Death, Destruction, Evil, Fire. He may use any of the relevant domain powers as a 16th level Cleric, and cast domain spells as quickened Spell-like abilities at caster level 26 (29 for evil and chaos) with DCs of 92+spell level

Divine Salient Abilities: Annihilating Strike, Clearsight, Divine Dodge, Divine Fast Healing, Divine Fire Mastery, Divine Recall, Divine Splendor, Extra Energy Immunity, Frightful Presence, Hand of Death, Improved Damage Reduction, Increased Spell Resistance, Indomitable Strength, Know Death, Know Secrets, Lay Curse, Life Drain, Power of Truth, Rejuvenation, Supreme Initiative, Wave of Chaos

Summon Wickedness (Sp)
Once per night Chernabog can, as a full round action, automatically summon one Dread Wraith with advanced hitdice per every corpse/grave in a 50 mile radius, 10 times his own hitdice in demons and twice his hitdice in fire elementals, with all monsters being under his command.

Satan Is My Bitch
Chernabog is the be all and end all of evil. He cares not for petty things such as 'size penalties' and he laughs at the idea that a superior being such as himself should stoop to using hitdice as puny and worthless as d8s.

Greater Deity: A roll of 1 on a d20 isn't an automatic failure, all dice are considered to have rolled their highest result, and plenty of other nasty stuff.

What I remember of the Nautilus (hey we should make his submarine in the shape of a giant nautilus) is that the power system ran on salt and produced oxygen, so there was never a need to surface. One of its features was an extensive study and library filled with beautiful pieces of art and an impressive stock of literature (like we're talking the library from Beauty and the Beast here), some of it Nemo's own research on the creatures of the sea.
>>
>>36933848

>>
>>36935808
>>36935392
Remember how Nemo's character was reworked for his KLR entry. He was construed as an Atlantean captain who's gone rogue with a Nautilus class flagship and a slew of smaller craft, as I remember correctly.
>>
>>36935920
Guess we're gonna have to correct his K/L/R then.
>>
>>36935925
Correct.
>>
>>36935925
Oh, of course. But to me that just means that it runs on Atlantean crystals instead of salt. The important details, like never needing to surface, the library and study, etc, are what I'd actually give a shit about carrying over. And now that I think about it some more, it will need to be built in a way that will enable the crew go to out spearfishing in the deep sea for food.
>>
>>36936029
In 20,000 leagues under the sea, they wore special diving suit-type things
>>
>>36935956
Yeah, personally, I think he shouldn't bother "ruling" at all, certainly not like Scar does. He's a tiger, a solitary predator, not a social creature like a lion. The only reasons he's going to seek out a specific individual is because he heard them talking shit, and because they possess something he wants or needs (which may include skills for certain tasks). If he wants something simple done, he'll just grab whoever's at hand and "persuade" them to do it. Otherwise, he considers himself above interacting with other animals, and really he doesn't to interact with them that often.

Guess I better get to work on that rewrite.
>>
>>36936213
The current K/L/R says exactly that. Except for punishing anyone who talks shot he doesn't do anything himself, the only part that needs changing is when it says Tabaqi is the administrator.
>>
>>36936196
I meant in the construction of the submarine itself, seeing as opening a hatch on the top or side of the vessel while in the deep sea and without the use of an airlock is either impossible or a very dumb thing to do, depending on which way it hinges.
>>
>>36936272
And a bit about the castes. As long as they live in fear of him, I can't see him caring that much about the other animals.
>>
>>36936291
There's an airlock
>>
>>36936370
Then it should explicitly mentioned, along with the bit about spearfishing. Maybe I'll take a little look at what we already have for Nemo.
>>
>>36936424
Captain Nemo the Atlantean Pirate Lord:
Despite having the smallest number of vessels under his command Captain Nemo is just as powerful as the other two Pirate Lords, their king Davy Jones aside, and is also the most unconventional of the quartet. Once upon a time, Nemo was a former Indian national and a decorated captain in the Imperial Republic of Atlantis' Submarine Corps, but grew increasingly disillusioned and sickened by what he perceived as the rampant imperialism of its government and the ignorant jingoism of its citizenry. Working along with a crew of likeminded individuals, Nemo managed to stage a mutiny that allowed him to commandeer the majority of the A.S.C.'s 7th Submarine Fleet including its flagship the Nautilus, with which he intended to teach the Atlantean government an overdue lesson about their own hubris. Though not as cutting-edge as the Atlantean subs manufactured after their mutiny and not as well maintained without Atlantis' sophisticated repair facilities, the Nautilus and its support craft are jam-packed with advanced technology, fervently idealistic and opportunistic pirates, and more than a few innovations and surprises Captain Nemo has picked up in his travels.
>>
Alright, the King portion has been fixed and the Land rewritten entirely:
>Not much has changed under the rule of Shere Khan. Predators still stalk and hunt, prey still flees or hides. The bears still scratch their backs on trees, and deer still clash their antlers in the mating season. The real difference is that whatever fear the animals felt towards Shere Khan before, it has magnified at least tenfold. Now they fear to even speak his name lest they attract his attention; do so yourself or or in any way appear to be plotting against him and the animals will, depending on species and personal temperament, either flee or try to kill you. You'll find that the humans are much more reasonable; while their stockades and other fortifications can't realistically keep Shere Khan out, their constructions, community and other hallmarks of civilization somehow disgust him in much the same way as a rotting buffalo carcass would disgust a man.
>>
>>36937000
I approve of the changes. Thank you.

So, after wracking my brains a bit, heres a whole slew of villains we can use for GridLocked. I've also taken the liberty to throw in a few ideas for each one:

>Dr. Mcallhey (BH6)
After the teams defeat at the hands of the doctor, Big Hero 6 split up bitterly, each blaming on another. The six now rule their own hyper-corps, with PMC's each. They are all at a cold war with each other and the exterior threats, but its generally seen as Hiro being the major power player of the area.

>Dorris (Meet the robinsons)
Rules her new empire with two lackeys at her side, along with her own personal army of hats and slaves. She has becoming slightly eccentric, by allowing individual governers to rule over individual areas in her domain( Check some concept art of the video game for meet the robinsons)

>Syndrome (Incredibles)
After crushing most of the super heros in his land, Syndrome took control of the last thing he saw as above him: The government. Now ruling as President Syndrome, he enforces a almost communist like nation, supposedly based on equality for all, but its clear that its the rich, Syndrome included, who now hold the power

Is there a list of them? I haven't been here from the beginning, so I don't know what most are.
>>
>>36939902
>A.U.T.O (WALL-E)
Unable to stop the return to earth, the Axium found itself in low orbit above the planet. This beacon of wealth, technology and resources led to many other threats following it here. Due to combined attacks from Long John, Zurg and Lord Hater, he has been forced to land, and make repairs to his damaged systems. He has set about scavenging the areas, but due to the many years of servitude, most of the robots aboard the Axium have developed a personality. He is under threat of mutiny, between some wanting to leave, and some wanting to conquer the plant

>Xanatos (Gargoyles)
Xanatos has taken full control of many of the Clans, including both the Manhatten Clan, the Steel Clan, and the formidable Wyvernclan, from those that he built his large legion of Gargoyle mutants. He now schemes from his fortress city of Manhatten, where he has created a sort of police state utopia
>Drossel Von Flugel (Fireball)
Rising up from Ruins buried under Europe, Drossel has set her sights and conquering and ruling the "Ancient cradle of Robotics". Although she and her robotic army looks incredibly modern, she claims to be over 40,000 years old, and that humanity it self has gone exticnt. Although she mimics the feudal system of humanity, she sees humanity itself to be barbaric, and dreadful. She has set her self up as queen, and placed Robotic lords and ladys as her underlings

>Galactic Federation/Hamster Viel/Stitch (Lilo and Stitch!)
With both the escape of 626 and his brothers, the Galatic Federation has began to loose members at a rapid pace. Hoping to show portray a strong force, the Federation has deployed both agents and armies to earth, in a effort to not only contain the Genetic abominations, but to also reign in the rule-less and dangerous earth.
>>
>>36939924
>John Silver (Treasure Planet)
With the sweeping anarchy after the destruction of the Federation, Long John Silver has set his sites on what he concludes to be the largest, grandest, and most powerful treasure Trove around: The Axium. Now, his pursuit has brought him to earth, where he aims to claim it its riches as his own. But, his ram shackle fleet is on the tipping point of fracturing. Can he get his booty and escape as always, or is this his last escape?

>King Candy (Wreck it ralph)
With his victory over Candy crush, and then the arcade, King Candy has begun to go turbo with every game he can get his hands on. Backed by his Cybug legions, and his new generals, he rules over his domain in a mess of glitches and data. The most stable areas are small shanty towns of old, washed up shades that used to be video games, most of them loosing enough code to become nothing but the most bare bone representation of their once famous selves.

>Henry J. Waternoose (Monsters INC.)
With the success of the scream engine, Waternoose has began to authorize task forces to steal children from the human world. Although he has stopped the black outs, the monster populace is split vertically. One half sees this as revenge on the humans for driving them out of the world, while the other, supported by the Containment council, sees it below monsters to do such horrible things. But what ever the course, Waternoose is pumping more scream energy then ever.

>Evil Emperor Zurg (Buzz light year of Star Command)
As his fleets recover after the destruction Star Command, Evil Emperor Zurg's damaged yet victorious fleet has slowly began to move into the Orbit of earth. So far, he has been resigned to playing the long game, fending off pirate raids and in turn raiding the surface of the planet with the remnants of his Hornet Bot legions. But he is only biding his time for the right moment to act

Ultimately, a Villain, as a King, should have unique powers, if not unique traits as well. That said, they'll probably have generic traits too. There's a bunch of pastebins at the top of the thread containing generic stuff we've already thought up, and you'll want to look at other Villains and some Kings too on 1d4chan to get a grasp on unique powers and traits.

>Some of the monsters that randomly spring up from lighting (Franken weenie)
As lighting contiues to hit dead bodies, more and more frighting creatures have begun to raid from the ruins of a small town

>Bill Cipher & other assorted monsters (Gravity Falls)
A magical creature in a more and more technological world, Bill has taken control of the whispy woods of Gravity falls, and all of the magical creatures that reside there. His plans are a enigma, but few dare enter the haunted and cursed lands. Recently, more and more people have been seeing him in their dreams, and been hearing his mocking laugh when alone.

>Lord Hater (Wonder over Yonder)
Lord Hater has crashed into earths orbit, intent on conquering all. Fortunately for him, that pathetic Wonder and Silvia will not be interrupting his conquest: but unfortunately, hes no longer dealing with the peace loving galaxy he knows. He roves the planes, looking for a place to conquer, but due to the hostile powers of the other powers, he has been having a rough time

Okay, so I've been looking through the deleted characters again, and another hyena has caught my eye.

http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Banagi

Long story short: the first two drafts of The Lion King were not Hamlet with African animals. Scar was originally just a rogue lion completely unrelated to the royal family, though one about physically equal with Mufusa. In these earlier drafts, Scar did not manipulate the hyenas into making him the King; Banagi, prince of the hyenas, manipulated Scar, helped him become the King and helped themselves to the riches of the Pridelands with Scar as their puppet.

Clearly, he has no place in canon whatsoever, but the three canon hyenas seem Inner Circle tier to me. Do I make Banagi Scar's brutish enforcer and scheming, manipulative grand vizier in a two for one package? Do I write up a combat monster hyena and give him the name Banagi as a shout-out to the earlier drafts? Do I just write up the three canon hyenas as Villains and forget Banagi entirely? I don't know, I think I need other people's opinions on this.
>>
>>36941606
Early draft stuff can be okay, Buldeo for example. Banagi would be a good lieutenant for Scar, seeing as nobody else really tolerates him.

I'm liking the brainstorming happening for modern so far. Still at work so please keep it up gents!

Also, might I suggest renaming "Charismatic Trait" (You are quite beautiful, even by the standards of Disney protagonists, gaining +4 to Deceit and Persuasion against the opposite gender......but from time to time, you attract some attention that you certainly don't want.), into something like "Ageless Beauty"?

Worst name for the trait possible.
It's been being called 'what do you mean' by the campaign players.

He needs a unique power and some unique traits (if we draw on the book, he's the most knowledgeable human in the world when it comes to the deep oceans. I think bonuses to Travel and Driving at such depths, as well as to Science checks concerning creatures and phenomena of the deep, would suit him). Presuming that he could use Honorable Duel on a battle between the Nautilus and another vessel, the powers are good. I think what would be good for a unique power to give him is to go all kamikaze with significant bonuses if it appears that the Nautilus is going down.

The hyenas hadn't always been forbidden from the Pridelands. Every now and then, a rogue lion would come along and challenge Mufasa for the rule of the Pridelands. On two of such occasions, the rogue lion had been manipulated by Banagi into a deal much like the later one between Scar and the hyenas. Both failed, and the second failure saw all hyenas banished from the Pridelands. Outraged at the shit their leader had gotten them into, the hyenas banished Banaga to hunting grounds even worse than their own. After years in these wastes, he was surprised when one day when a bunch of hyenas came to him and told him the King of the Pridelands had summoned him. Turns out that he inspired Scar to use hyenas to dispose of his brother and nephew, and he wanted to thank Banagi for this by including him in his court.

I know I'm late on this, but damn, that third sketch. Be careful about drawing characters so sexily, lest we draw the gaze of /co/ once more.
For the record, I am in favor of drawing all the DTP characters (Especially the male ones, kek) in slightly more revealing Christmas clothing just like Disney does.I'm really looking forward to some of your finished sketches, especially the cover piece! I was just making a joke, I don't actually think that giving characters some attractiveness will summon the great horde. >Bill Cipher & other assorted monsters (Gravity Falls)
Gravity Falls could be treated as something of a myth or an urban legend. Most don't think it exists, it doesn't appear on any maps and those who find their way to Gravity Falls are lost in the woods or on the back roads. It takes a LOT of effort to go there on purpose.

>>36939987
>King Candy (Wreck it Ralph)
King Candy's domain might be glitchy and corrupted, but it should probably have a "candy coating" that makes it appear as if nothing too serious is wrong so that kids keep playing their games and they don't get unplugged and scrapped. The result though is that each and every game character could be forced to help fight the ever-growing instability of their game worlds in the background as they try to continue to act normal. Meanwhile, one particularly persistent glitch, a glitch that refuses to stay deleted, THE Glitch continues her fight against King Candy as a sort of good-aligned creepypasta character.

A mentally deficient scavenger, Tabaqui does something other creatures would never dream of doing: he lives off the leftovers of Shere Khan's kills. Most predators would be terrified to even scavenge such a kill, let alone follow the Dread King around waiting for the chance to do it again. Most likely, he is too stupid to realize the supposed danger in what he's doing, but there's also a chance that he knows the truth of the matter; Shere Khan can make whoever he wants do whatever he wants whenever he wants, but it's rather inconvenient to have to go looking for someone to "persuade" first. So long as he allows Tabaqui to scavenge his kills, he'll never have to look very far. So beware, for if you encounter Tabaqui, his terrible patron cannot be too far away.

The hyenas had not always been forbidden from the Pridelands. They were once free to hunt in the same lands as the lions, though they were wise enough not to abuse this privilege. But Banagi, Prince of the Hyenas, ruined all that. Several times during Mufusa's reign, a lone rogue lion would come along and call out for a challenge for the throne. On two of those occasions, Banagi had manipulated the rogue lions: in return for their aid in overthrowing Mufasa, he would let them run wild over the Pridelands and feast on its great bounty. The second time this failed, the hyenas were banished from the Pridelands and Banagi himself dethroned and exiled. But to his surprise, he found himself invited to Pride Rock not long after Scar's ruel began. When he arrived, Scar explained that Banagi's plots had inspired him to use the hyenas to depose his brother and nephew and in gratitude he offered a place in his court. Banagi accepted graciously, laughingly remarking "To think that all this time, my only real error was that I was conspiring with the wrong lions."

Banagi knows that it would not be wise to try to manipulate Scar as he manipulated the dimmer rogue lions, but at the same time he is quite thorough in ensuring that he is the figure with the most influence over the King. Wanting to maintain the status quo, Banagi has eliminated most of his perceived rivals. He has not resorted to open violence since he came to Pride Rock, but then, there hasn't exactly been any violent uprisings yet.

By the way, does anything think that villains based on deleted characters should have a little box on their page explaining their roles in earlier drafts? Without the context of him being the true villain of the first two drafts of the Lion King, he reads kind of like a bad fanfiction character.
>>
>>36954620
I would add it in. The information helps DMs, ayers and readers understand the character and his origins better.
>>
>>36954620
Banagi, I'm hearing... wait for it, wait for it... Jeremy Irons, yes he works as a voice for this guy
>>
>>36955391
That would work well I think.

As mine may be the last bumpable post of the thread, I wanted to ask if we ought to create a new Opening Post and do a little bit of "re-branding" as we move forward with starting a new expansion to try and entice some new posters to come and contribute. The title "Disney Villains Victorious" becomes "DVV: GRIDLOCK" and the OP is rewritten to reflect the more modern films and properties being showcased and the punky, pulpy feel of the expansion.

Is this a good idea do you fellows suppose, or unnecessary?
>>
>>36955641

Bring it up in the next thread. We're going to have to start a new one anyway and there might not be time to have this discussion in this one.
>>
>>36955641
If we're splitting the thing into 2 sections, that would make sense. I personally am not a fan of the expansion, but that aside, until everything for standard DVV is finalized, it doesn't make sense to stop working on it.
>>
>>36955722
Agreed. The next thread needs to follow the same format as the previous ones and the issue can be discussed at length later on. Can someone not working on an iPhone start the next thread? I think we need to add the art albums to the OP post. I would do it but I'm working on my phone and it will be somewhat awkward.
