You are Captain WILLIAM PIERCE, a combat rescue officer of the United States Air Force.

You are jolted awake when the C-5 transport plane you're riding finally touches down in Tokyo. It had been quite a hectic trip, and you're left feeling more exhausted than any combat mission.

It also didn't help that Red had bought a Nintendo game system for Laika, which she had played all night on the last day, and she kept endlessly humming the tune to one of the games that she had been playing. Hell, she was still doing it now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiuSCkprkZ0

And the boarding ramp isn't even fully down when you see an airman waiting patiently at the bottom, clutching a clipboard, no doubt listing the day's assignments.

"You've got a busy day ahead of you, sir." The airman salutes.

You sigh and shake your head. Back to business a usual.

"Janice, make sure the rest of the squadron gets squared away." You say. "I might as well pay a visit to the Colonel."

"All right, we'll be waiting!" Janice says as she carts Laika away. "Come on, Laika, let's get you changed..."

"Awwwww, but I wanna see the new plane!" Laika whines.

"We will..."

You hitch a ride with the airman over to Kelsey's office. On the way, you notice a lot heavier security than last you remembered. The MPs were patrolling the area more aggressively, and you even saw Navy SEALs stalking the base, particularly around one of the hangars reserved for Navy birds. You make a silent note of it as you enter the office.

"Captain Pierce, good to have you back." Colonel Kelsey salutes you quickly.

"I've only been gone for a few days." You chuckle.

"And a lot's happened since then." Kelsey grunts. "First of all, the Navy apparently managed to nab an intact Fandance."

"Ah, so that's why they've got SEALs running all around the place?" You ask.

"That's right. They're keeping it under tight lock and key until they can get some techs over to check it out."

"I thought that was Sokolov's job?"

"Hah. He was the first guy they asked, but he totally snubbed them in order to work on that new bird General Granger sent over. The XF-19 it was called? Anyways, he's been busy retrofitting it with a new COFFIN 2.0 system so it'll be ready for Laika to fly."

"I see." You nod. "And the war in general?"

"The lines are starting to stabilize. We've trapped and encircled the majority of the Chinese offensive forces in central Korea and the IJN and IJA managed to finally seize Pyonyang. We're waiting for additional Army units to arrive to shore up our lines before we make a push to the original Korean border."

"Sounds good." You nod. "So anything for us?"

"Not right now." Kelsey shakes his head. "But for now, we'll probably focusing on rear echelon duties. Civilian relief efforts and all. We've covered a lot of ground, but a lot of infrastructure was destroyed and we haven't fully secured it. Lots of small towns and villages in need."

"Got it, sir." You nod. "So what do we do now?"

"You'll be on standby in Tokyo for the time being. The brass don't want you being sent to the frontline so soon after the medal ceremony."

"I guess I can understand that." You sigh. "But I still think it's pretty stupid."

"It'll only be for a while, and we've hit a lull in the fighting, anyways." Kelsey shrugs. "Like I said, we're waiting on the Army to get off its ass and get their boots into Korea."

"So I suppose we'll just be testing out Granger's new equipment in the meantime?"

"Seems like the best way to manage your time." Kelsey nods. "But maybe you can convince Sokolov to at least take a look at that Fandance. Damn squids won't stop pestering me over it."

"Sure, I'll put some words in his ear." You nod. "Anything else?"

"Nope, that's all. You pretty much got free reign on the base as long as you're here." Kelsey says. "I'll call you in if anything comes up. Dismissed."

"Thank you, sir." You salute and exit the office.

You hop another ride to the hangar, where your flight crew is already back and hastily unpacking several newly arrived crates, while Bullseye tries to get his work done despite Nungesser hugging him from behind. Of course, Sokolov could be found digging into the guts of a sleek, brand new fighter. You're mighty impressed with how Granger was able to get that thing down here so fast. Meanwhile, Laika was also present, her eyes so wide with wonder you were afraid they'd fall out of their sockets.

"Sokky! Let's fly it! Let's fly it!" Laika whines.

"Just a second, Laika, I need to make some last minute calibrations!" Sokolov grumbles as you hear clanging from inside the cockpit. Finally, Sokolov pulls his head out from wherever it's been and finally sees you.

"Oh, Captain! You're finally back!"

"Yep." You nod. "I was kind of wondering if you could take a break from this bird for a bit and come check out the new Fandance."

"Hmmmm, well, the major work is already done, so I guess I can leave it to my assistants to finish the rest." Sokolov nods.

"You have a Vampire?!" Laika squeals as she zooms up to. She can't brake her wheelchair fast enough and it bumps into your leg. "Wherewherewhere?"

"Ha, all in due time." You say. "Let's wait for Sokolov, first."

As you wait for the scientist to get his things ready, you wonder if you should bring an escort along. Sokolov's credentials alone should be enough to get you in, but you remember that SF types always did enjoy fucking with others, especially personnel from a different service branch.

Well, you might as well come along with an escort. You take a look back into the hangar. Your flight crew looked to be pretty busy, so you didn't really want to bother them. Also, Rex appeared to be missing. You wonder where the hell he went off to. However, Janice and Tarin were present, so you might as well ask them to come along.

"Hey, Janice, Tarin, you mind tagging along with me, Sokolov, and Laika to check out a bird the Navy snagged?"

"Well, I suppose there's no reason not to." Janice smiles. "Sure!"

"Okay." Tarin shrugs.

And so your little motley crew starts heading over the cordoned off Navy hangar. Janice pushed Laika along on her wheelchair, while Sokolov clutched a bag full of what you assumed were diagnostic tools. Meanwhile, you and Tarin bring up the rear. Of course, you see Navy SEALs begin converging in on you, and even a couple of tank witches.

"I'll handle this." Tarin says, stepping forward.

"Hey now, I think you chairforce are in the wrong neighborhood." One of the SEALs grunts.

"We're just escorting the scientist you've been requesting." Tarin says calmly.

"Mhm. Well, the tech is cleared to pass, but the rest of you aren't." The SEAL grunts. "You're just all going to have to wait outside."

"Really now?" Tarin says. Her voice and expression don't change, but you can tell Tarin was starting to shift into "YOU FUCKED UP" mode. You're about to step in when somebody else interrupts.

"You best be standin' down, Lieutenant." A dark skinned tank witch with a thick Cajun accent rolls in. "You don't be knowin' who you be messin' with."

"Commander!" The SEAL snaps to attention. The way he straightens up indicates that it wasn't the sort of feigned respect most men showed to officers or witches. It was the sort of genuine respect reserved only for the truly loved and/or feared.

Mostly feared.

"Brigitte?" Tarin blinks.

"Tarin!" Brigitte laughs.

Both witches then grab each other in a powerful handshake. However, what should be a brief greeting starts to drag on, as both witches keep their grips, and you see that they're actually subtly arm wrestling each other.

You just decide to stay quiet and not interrupt this moment. You watch as both SF witches continue their titanic struggle, their only signs of exertion masked by Brigitte's cheerful smile and Tarin's blank stare.

"Yer arm be less noodly den before." Brigitte grunts.

"Like I said before, I don't like losing." Tarin says simply.

Finally, both witches let go, massaging their no doubt ravaged wrists as they do so.

"How you and Maman be callin' that a tie?"

"Whatever helps you sleep." Tarin shrugs.

"Tarin, you know this witch?" You finally scrape up the courage to speak.

"Hm, yes. Me and Brigitte used to work together from time to time." Tarin shrugs and then her eyes widen a bit. "Oh, I forgot. Captain, this is Commander Brigitte Laroux. US Navy SEALS. Brigitte, this is-"

"Maman been hearin' de stories." Brigitte chuckles and rolls closer to you, her face hovering right in front of yours. "Ye be more more handsome den de stories say, Captain Pierce."

"Oho, what kind of stories?" Janice slips in between you and her, now in full territorial mode. She still had a cheerful smile on her face, but it was only barely masking KILLING INTENT.

"Our kind be a small and tightknit group." Brigitte chuckles. "Word be travelin' fast, and der ain't much dat gets by Maman's ears."

"I see." Janice nods, her masked hostility now ebbing away, but not quite fully.

"Maman be showin' ya de way, den." Brigitte waves you at you to follow her as her tank strikers squeal. "We already be gettin' someone to take a look at de plane, but she can always use anudder set o' eyes."

"She talks funny!" Laika whispers to you.

"Dis be the way Maman always be talkin'." Brigitte says without even turning around.

That causes Laika to squeak and clamp her hands over her mouth.

"So you were the ones that got the Fandance?" You ask as your group slowly heads over the hangar.

"Dat be right." Brigitte nods. "Not de easiest job, but not de hardest, eider."

"Must've been tough." You whistle. "I can't imagine the Russians leaving those around unguarded."

"Ha, Maman had a harder time keepin' de snow outta her undies!" Brigitte chortles. "It be a shame you weren't der, Tarin."

"Tragic." She nods. "Seems like you learned how to do things without being babysat by me."

"So, you and Tarin worked together, huh?" You say.

"Ha, Maman and Tarin, we be a real scary team." Brigitte grins. "Tarin be doin' de scouting wit her talent, and I be doin' de rest of de dark business."

At this point, you've already reached the hangar. A pair of SEALs at the door salute you, or more specifically, Brigitte, and open the doors.

Inside, you see a Fandance sitting inside, the sole occupant of the entire hangar. Several access panels and hatches were already popped, with various components already taken out and carefully laid out on the ground for closer analysis. You could see a pair of legs jutting out from one of the panels, and judging from the size, probably belonged to someone who couldn't be much older than Laika.

Of course, Laika and Sokolov both take off to analyze the plane, or in Laika's case, ogle. Brigitte and Tarin stay behind near the door while Janice follows Laika to make sure she doesn't hurt herself.

You head over to the Fandance, though honestly, you weren't THAT impressed since you had already been able to see one up close. Granted, it had been shot up and sinking into the ocean, but you see it once, you've seen them all, right?

What interested you more was the tech that was already examining the Fandance. Sokolov was busy studying the components that had already been pulled out, while Laika rolls over to where the tech was digging through the Fandance's guts and pokes her leg.

"Hey. Heeeeeeeeey." Laika says.

You hear a loud, high pitched squeak, followed by a THUD as the tech undoubtedly banged her head against the Fandance's hull in surprise. She then slides out of the access hatch, and your suspicion that she was no older than Laika was confirmed.

"W-w-w-what did you do t-that for?" The tech wails.

"Hi! I'm Laika!" Laika says cheerfully as she holds out her hand, completely oblivious to the tech's alarm. "What's your name?"

"Ah, er, um," The tech stammers as she's obviously caught off guard. "S-Samantha... b-but you can call me Merlin."

"OOOOOOOH! A callsign?! That means you're a pilot?!" Laika grabs both of Merlin's hands.

"Ah, I'm um, n-not exactly...!" Merlin's face turns red as she's not sure how to react to Laika's straightforwardness.

"Oh. OH, So, like a copilot or something?"

"S-something like that..."

"So you can get a callsign, even if you don't actually FLY THE PLANE?!" Laika says incredulously.

"I-I guess so..."

My god, you couldn't have seen two more polar opposites. A shy, bespectacled girl paired up with a loud, blunt, and straightforward one.

"How about Banshee?" You suggest.

Laika pauses in deep thought for a moment.

"I LIKE IT!" Laika says happily.

"W-wait, you're a pilot?" Merlin blinks.

"Yep yep!" Laika nods rapidly. "One of the best!"

"B-but how can you, without y-your legs?" Merlin asks.

"That's simple! I just plug into it here!" Laika brushes her hair aside to show Merlin her implant.

"Is that-" Merlin gasps as her eyes widen. "A VDNI implant? Y-you're one of the defectors!?!"

"Mmmmmmm, I guess you could say that." Laika shrugs.

This time, it was Merlin being aggressive, as she lunges forward and grab's Laika by the shoulders.

"W-what's it like?! Do you f-feel what the plane does? C-can you really control it with your m-mind?!"

"Ah um, it's uh, kinda hard to explain." Laika says, her position now reversed. "It's like... you and the plane are one, you know? Like the plane's parts are all parts of your body."

"I see..." Merlin says thoughtfully.

"Laika, it's time to go!" Sokolov says. "We need to test the XF-19 now!"

"Right, coming!" Laika chimes.

"X-XF-19?" Merlin asks.

"Oh yeah, it's this cool new plane this nice old man decided to give us!" Laika says happily.

"C-can I come see?"

"SURE!" Laika smiles. "I don't see why not!"

The XF-19 is already waiting on the tarmac. Laika quickly gets changed into her specialized flightsuit and hops in as Merlin eagerly watches. The techs then shoo you all away as the plane's engines begin to power up. You and Janice head off closer to the hangar, where Sokolov has set up a small control center while Merlin moves off to a spot a bit further down the tarmac to get a better look at the plane.

Finally, the clearances are granted, and the XF-19 begins to roll down the runway. The engines roar as the experimental plane takes off. Two F-16s follow close behind as chase planes.

"All right, Laika-" Sokolov says.

"Banshee." Laika corrects him.

"Okay, Banshee." Sokolov sighs. "Let's take it slow and easy. Do some basic maneuvering."

You see the XF-19 do a few turns, but notice the plane shudder and shake as it does so.

"Banshee, you're losing too much altitude in each turn!" Sokolov warns.

"I know!" Laika grunts. "It's this plane.... it just won't listen to me! It's like... it's like it keeps fighting my inputs!"

You see the XF-19 level out in the air, though it's still a bit wobbly, even in level flight. You notice the F-16s drop back a little further.

"I think... I think I found the problem." Laika says. "It's the flight computer!"

"Are you sure?" Sokolov blinks.

"Yeah... yeah I'm sure." Laika says. "I'm turning it off."

"No! Wait! We have no idea what will happen!" Sokolov cries then turns to you.

"Let's trust Laika on this." You say.

"A-all right." Sokolov nods.

"Turning off flight computer... now." Laika comments.

Suddenly, the XF-19's flights seems to be much smoother. That is, until it literally falls out of the sky. However, rather than panic, you get the impression that Laika was still in full control. The XF-19 dives down to the ground until the last second, when it goes nose up so that it was perpendicular to the ground and its thrust vectored engines roar.

And amazingly enough, the plane just HOVERS there, nose pointed to the sky as the engines kick up clouds of dirt and dust. You can't imagine the level of control it would take to tun the engine thrust to perfectly counter the plane's weight, but Laika somehow manages it.

"See? I was right!" Laika giggles as the engines roar, putting the XF-19 from a hover into a powerclimb in a blink of an eye.

http://youtu.be/UZFn96KWYBA?t=44s

The next few minutes are an absolute show of impossibly tight turns and flips you didn't think were possible in any plane, a testament to the XF-19s engineering combined with Laika's control abilities. All the while, you can hear her laughing over the radio like a kid in a candy store.

You manage to pry your eyes away from the scene long enough to see that someone else has joined Merlin in watching the show. You can immediately tell that he's a Navy flier, no doubt Merlin's pilot. While Merlin has a look of utter fascination on her face, you can tell with some amusement that the pilot in question was trying very hard not to look impressed.

Wait a minute. You narrow your eyes at the pilot. Have you seen him somewhere before...?

Suddenly, your train of thought is broken when you hear the roar of the XF-19's engines. You turn back to see Laika diving at the ground, pulling up at the last second and performing a low altitude flight, and by low, you mean you could actually reach up and touch the plane if you were crazy enough to try it.

Oh, and Laika was doing it upside down, too.

And you've never heard her be more happy.

"This is the one!" She laughs. "This is the one I want to keep!"

Frank and Pierce walk into a bar soon? Maybe?
>>
>>36912007
....Dammit, why did you wait for Frank to show up in the last minute.
>>
>>36912007
Thanks boss.

And oh lookie, you giving Fronk some idea.
Well done, Laika. Well done.
>>
>>36912007
Thanks for the fun with based Laika, Merc!

>Wait a minute. You narrow your eyes at the pilot. Have you seen him somewhere before...?
Ahaha, Frooonk!

Thanks for the run Merc, See ya next time.

too bad we decided it would be better if Laika only got involved as recon, without armaments.

Still, if anyone could ram another combat aircraft with a modern fighter and get away with it as a kill rather than suicide...
>>
>>36912079
She carries self-defence armaments on the Eagle, I expect this'll have them too.
>>
So what would've happened if we didn't go through proper procedure, and yanked Laika out when we rescued her from a watery grave?

Would the BAD END be her still being part of the plane as we completely sever the link?
>>
So....who's better Laika or Frank?
>>
>>36912155
brain damaged daughteru maybe
>>
>>36912182
For now Laika lead the race.
We'll see if Frank will close the gap.
>>
>>36912276
>Frank not leading Laika by football pitches.
Mangafag, have you ever read SW89 thread? Like, even once? You are aware of some of the shit Frank has pulled with a fighter, right?
>>
>>36912276
I don't know maybe with airshow stunts maybe but after Berlin, kind of hard to top that.

Then again Laika doesn't get nearly killed after what Frank pulls.
>>
>>36912322
She does get blown the hell out of the sky though, courtesy of the Japanese Imperial Guard.
>>
>>36912294
I don't recall Frank ever try that hovering Yukikaze trick. Yet.

>>36912322
Yet.
I just see a clip of VF-21 fighting the X9-Ghost and for some reason, i see Frank in Guld's place.
>>
>>36912354
Didn't he do some crazy shit with Slider though?

That should count for something?
>>
>>36912354
Frank's duel with young spawn. He flies his plane BACKWARDS to get a bead on her.
>>
>>36912368
I need to re-read that part again later before i can comment.
>>36912373
Make it two.
>>

Make it two what exactly?

Frank's aerial exploits.

>>36912381
Also Mangafag, do you have stuff prepared for SW89 or you only had enough time for PJs?
>>
>>36912429
If i am not distracted with WT or WoT until SW'89 , I'll draw some art involving Big Three and Konnie.
>>
>>36912466
Christmas with Frank yay!

Having to spend it with Jess....

Boooo!
>>
>>36912518
Jess ruins everything.
>>
>>36912565
She ruins haremfags dreams, which are the best dreams to ruin.
>>
>>36912565
Everything.
>>
>>36912768
Not just haremfags dreams anon, she ruins everything.
>>
>>36912783
It's a shame you're so wrong.
>>
>>36912795
Everything.
>>
>>36912795
I honestly wish I was, anon.
>>
>>36912817
I wish I was wrong that about people being buttflustered over a shitty threesome getting broken up as well.
>>
>>36912768
So you must love Jess then.

Frankly her personality is annoying, her love advice kind of makes it worse.
>>
>>36912857
I think how it was handled as well, Feelthy's snippet doesn't help her personality as well.
>>
>>36912901
He's probably given up on his side story because so many people hate it.
>>
>>36914576
the side story was actually pretty damn good, was actually fun reading about Jess for once
>>
>>36914576
Or it could just be that he's too busy to properly work on it right now.

I still don't get all the vitriolic hate against Jess.
>>
>>36914712
She broke up a harem and that triggered some anons.
>>
>>36914744
someone clearly didn't read anything at all

she didn't try to break up a harem, she was trying to make one, and was interfering in Rex's relationship and being annoying about it
>>
>>36914797
That's it?
>>
>>36914810
I suppose they had their Incestual Lolicon fantasies shattered by seeing how little sisters *actually* act.
>>
>>36914810
It was a fair bit more than that, was just correcting that anon who was trying to commentate while clearly not even knowing anything about the situation.
>>
>>36914872
What is the fair bit more that these nerds care about? Because they make it sound like she's tried to kill Frank or something.

Is it that she's a lesbian?
>>
>>36914887
Go and read the threads she's in because I'm not going to regurgitate 4+ threads worth of content for you.
>>
>>36914898
I have read the threads though, and I don't think she did anything wrong except almost causing a threesome between Rex, Euclid, and Ghost.

Mind you, the 'relationship' with Ghost wasn't even a set thing until he was told to confront both girls about it, and then he chose to be with Ghost, much to Euclid's disappointment.

I think the real answer is that Anon doesn't like it when 'pairings' OR 'harems' are threatened in any way.
>>
>>36914956
>Mind you, the 'relationship' with Ghost wasn't even a set thing until he was told to confront both girls about it
It was a thing long before then, it was a thing ever since they spent their R&R time in London and Scotland months ago.
>>
>>36915028
It was barely mentioned and even Rex didn't even seem to be taking it serious until he was told to confront the girls about it. Ghost basically had yet another puppy-love crush on a guy who apparently has 'em lining up to get 'rescued'. He barely contacted her and they'd been separated for weeks before she just showed up in Japan, and we'd already had threads where Euclid was doing the typical Japanese 'romance' bullshit where he accidentally walks in on her naked and she punches him because LOL SO TSUN.

I still don't see how any of this explains the Jess hate, outside of those people projecting personal complexes.
>>
>>36915137
>nd we'd already had threads where Euclid was doing the typical Japanese 'romance' bullshit where he accidentally walks in on her naked and she punches him because LOL SO TSUN.
And that somehow means anything? Ghost and Rex were an item long before then and your blind and delusional if you can't see it.
