You awaken in the morning to a beam of sunshine laying across your face, the bed you are in is warm and comforting to you and it helps relieve the stress from yesterday. You recount the events of yesterday to the best of your ability. As far as your memory goes you were hit in the face with a hammer by a lowly bandit thug, and as consequence lost your memories, before cutting him and the leader of his raid down. They were attempting to raid the city of Rhama that you are now currently housed in along with your friends and comrades in arms. Also you are apparently the Crown Prince of Atea, one of the three largest nations on the continent. So there’s that. After the fight you followed you friends back to the city and on the way discussed who you used to be and a particularly painful moment in your past that helped to jog some of your memory. You then arrived at the inn where you discussed the plan to assault the Bandit stronghold with your knights and Mark, your resident paladin, stated that there may be a willing defector among the bandits you captured.

Today is going to be a looong day.

Do you?

Thanks for the feedback. I admit I am still new to this.

I guess staying in bed wins it. I'll start writing.

You decide to stay in bed, even if it is for just a little while longer. You can feel the warmth of the sun on your face, a soothing breeze as it passes through the window, and the warmth of the sheets on you. You just can’t bring yourself to get up and face the day, even if it’s just for five more minutes.

You groggily awake some time later to the sound of knocking on your bedroom door. “Rowan” you hear a voice from the other side of the door. “Rowan can you hear me?” The melodical voice is familiar, Agrias. You grumble as you shrug the comforter off of you and ruffle your hair to at least stop it from being bed head.

“Rowan, if you don’t answer I’m coming in and waking you up.” She says from the other side of the door.

What do you do?
>Lay back in bed, the door is locked and you want another 5.

Darn it, you wanted to sleep. But by the Goddess you weren’t going to let people wake you up and get away with it. As such you hatch a plan.

“Coming, I’m coming hold your horses.” You say as you head over to the door.

You wait for Agrias to begin knocking again “Rowan,” she begins as she slams her fist into the door “I swear if you are still in that bed I’ll-“

As she says this you fling open the door to the hallway standing there in your (almost) naked glory, sunlight glistening off your body.
“You’ll what? Join me?” You say with a smug grin on your face as you look down directly into her eyes.

For a moment there is an awkward pause. She looks at you, looks down at your chest, catches herself, and then with a flustered expression looks you straight in the eye.
“We don’t have time for this.” She says with a huff as she drags you into the room and throws you onto the bed with a *pomf*

“Oh, what are we going to do on the bed, Agrias?” you ask her coyly still with the same smug grin, but she is already at the dresser grabbing clothing out of it. She appears to be mumbling something angrily to herself, something about how even after that whack you still have the same lousy humor.

Suddenly, you find yourself with a face full of shirt. As Agrias has apparently started to throw your clothing at you.
“Put that on and meet me downstairs, we have a lot to go over this morning and time is wasting.” She storms out of your room shutting the door behind her.

Well you aren’t one to argue, especially after that display. So you make to putting on your clothing and head down the stairs to the main part of the inn where it seems the rest of your group is waiting.

“Ah, my lord. You are finally up. Good we can get started.” Says Mark who is apparently once again dressed up in his full suit of armor. How dedicated is this guy to not letting you see his face. The same with Ornholt. What is up with these guys?

“So as I was saying last night we still need to take talk with the prisoner to get the information for our assault on the hideout. Also Agrias says she might have an idea for when we do find its location.”

A grumble comes from your stomach and you look around and see Arc sitting down still eating breakfast and Felecia sitting with Earnest over at a table chatting. Agrias strangely, appears to be missing from the scene perhaps she thought you would take longer to change.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
>>
>>36884547
You decide to grab some breakfast to fill your stomach before continuing any conversations and excusing yourself you head over to the bar. The special today is smoked ham with corn bread and you gladly get yourself a helping before sitting down at an empty table and beckoning Mark over.

“So, what about this turncoat prisoner? Are they really worth talking to, I mean yesterday they were fighting gladly alongside the bandits and today they want to rat them out? It seems fishy to me.” You say before taking a big bite of ham. It is sweet and smoky with maple and honey and it is cooked to tender juiciness.

“Well, my lord” Mark begins formally as he always does. “If you must know, Atean army interrogations are quite, thorough. If you must know this one caved after just hearing one of his comrades in the middle of a session. Quite the coward.”

You are in the middle of a bite of cornbread when he finishes and struggle to swallow the dry bread to be able to speak again.

“Sho,” you smack your jaw trying to dislodge the corn meal from the pallet of your mouth. “Wha tid he shay, *smack* about ta *smack* location of the hideout.”

“Nothing, my lord. Only that he would only divulge its whereabouts to the leader of our company. We can head to the jail now if it would please his lordship.”

You still are only about halfway through your meal.

What do you do?

You scarf down the rest of your meal as you wait for Agrias to get back from whatever errand she is on.

Not long after you finish eating she enters back in through the doors of the inn carrying what appears to be some kind of large linen roll the size of a sleeping bag. Which she promptly places on a nearby table with a huff.

You are behind her before she has a chance to notice. “Hey Agrias, I’m up for the day, now3 lets go interrogate us some prisoners.”

“Wait, what?” she stammers out as she turns to face you and as she does so you grab hold of her hand.

“Come on. No time to waste. You said it yourself. Lets go.” You repeat dragging her towards the door of the inn.

“Wait, Rowan, why? Stop! Help! Guys, stop him! Hey, where are we going!? What are you doing!? Guys!” she stammers and spouts as you drag her out of the inn and towards the jailhouse for she cannot escape as long as your fingers are intertwine with hers.

You arrive at the town jailhouse, it is a small establishment and even from the outside you can tell it wasn’t made to hold a large number of prisoners. You enter the building and are faced with a guard with his feet up on the desk in front of him leaning back in his chair, he is sound asleep. Behind him are several jail cells lined up one of which contains three prisoners and another which contains one.

“Ahem” you state and the guard bolts awake.

“Hunh? What? I wasn’t sleeping, I was just counting the dots on the ceiling is all.” He says hurridly. “Oh, Prince Rowan. Sir Mark said you would be dropping by. I’ll just leave it to you then.” He says rushing out the door while handing Agrias the keys. What an odd fellow.

“About time you showed up. Well lets get on with it, you should know my price by now. I rat out the rest of my crew and you let me go scott free.” The lone prisoner says from his cell.
“Traitor!” “The boss’ll have your head for this, you and that princeling brat.” “You coward, the boss should have left you for dead.” The prisoners pipe up from the other cell before a glare from Agrias silences them.

“Well what are you waiting for? Get me out of here, I’d hate being cooped up with these human wind-chimes or at least that’s what they will be in a couple hours.” He states glaring over at the other three prisoners.

“Information first bozo.” You say flatly. You don’t trust this guy farther than you could throw him but he has what you need.

“He lets out a huff. Fine, you wanted to know where the bandit stronghold is? It’s north by north-west a six hours run at least. The place is never heavily guarded but a good portion of the crew is usually hanging about. There is also an area where the boss keeps the prisoners and his brother’s “pets” but you took care of lunk head number two so I guess they are just prisoners now.” The prisoner explains flatly no hint in his voice betraying truth or lie.

“He lies!” shouts one of the prisoners from the other cell. “The hold is to the south.”

“No, it is to the East a two day’s journey!” shouts another.

“Hah, these idiots think the hold is outside the village, really it’s underneath you all along.” Says the last.

“Shut up you toads,” yells the traitor bandit. “Loyal to the end I’ll give you that but the prince here won’t fall for your ruses. Well, let me out. I gave you what you want. I’m a free man by your word.”

Well?

You mull over the prisoner’s words in your head for a moment. The direction the bandits came from was indeed the north but that doesn’t mean anything as they could have bypassed the town and circled back to throw off the trail. You turn to Agrias and whisper to her.

“Well Agrias what do you think? Think he is telling us the truth or a lie?” You ask your good cop partner. Bad cop? She really hasn’t done anything yet on the interrogation front.

“I think he is hiding something. There is no way that he should be this willing to tell on his entire crew unless he is getting something out of it other than escaping the gallows, for all we know he could be one of the ring leaders and his crew over there are playing us for suckers to get their boss free. If they are loyal enough to die for one boss why not all of them?” She whispers to you matter of factly.

“Good point,” you whisper back before turning to the bandit in the cell.
“So why should we believe a word you say? For all I know the hold could be miles away and you’ll be long gone by the time I have confirmation on if it is actually there or not.” You say to him.

“Because I’m the only lead you have. But if I have to do something to prove I’m not a liar, go ahead and test me.” He utters back at you.

>>
>>36886846
You briefly consider forcing the prisoner to dance for his freedom but you quickly brush the idea from your mind. However you do come up with a better plan. "You'll stay here till we clean out the hold. If everything goes well. You'll be out by tomorrow. I'll even give you a book to keep you preoccupied."

His face goes pale and then red from hearing this. "THAT'S ALL FINE AND GOOD FOR YOU BUT IF YOU DIE THERE I'LL BE HANGING BY THE DAY AFTER!" he shouts in a rage.
"ANYTHING I'll do anything just get me out NOW!"

WHAT DO?

>>
>>36887445

"Well I guess it's in your best interest that we don't die then. Come on let's get going Agrias he has nothing else usefull for us." You turn to leave but are interrupted by muttering from the cell.

"...back."

"Excuse me?" You ask "what was that?"

"There is a secret entrance in the back of the hold. It's hidden by bushes but it should take you directly into the storage area. From there it is a right and two lefts to get to the main hall. This should let you bypass the boobytraps and catch the crew by surprise."

"So, you were planning on sending us in to die" Agrias speaks up. "This whole thing was a teapot begin with?"

"Yes," the prisoner admits. "I wanted my revenge on you and your group but if the only way to survive is for me to keep you all alive then I have no choice now do I?"
"Just come back in one piece. And if possible free the prisoners from the cells there, no human deserves to be in a cage..."

He resigns himself to his fate as you exit. You now know of the secret to the bandits hideout and its location.
