Table of Misfortune: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CKg7H6g3sTO1yVji7iLDAcSfY5GRhlvSHfp5du9WHCs/edit?usp=sharing

How to play:
• Open an image of a species in MS Paint, or your editor of choice
• Make one evolutionary change to that species
• Save as .PNG!
• Post your new species in the thread with a description of what evolution you've added and why

Notes:
• Unless stated explicitly, no species ever goes extinct. Old species can still evolve, even if they're not on the latest "chain"
• Make your evolutions gradual and realistic
•Don't do a thousand evolutions on a single creature by yourself, let the other Anons try
• Archived threads: >http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Grombworld
Thread 2 got messed up on suptg >https://archive.moe/tg/thread/36761184/

Put some work into doing it yourself and stop just whining about things you want other people to make for you, tripfag.

It's obvious that this evo game is running out of stream so let it die quietly without bitching about it.

The divergent mudkerps continue to becoming increasingly hostile targets, if only by a very small margin. They are more of a threat to each other.

The Nomads have used their mandibles to dig frequently and often to try and tear down the mounds of the pile mudkerp. The horns also are of limited use against larger foes.

The Pile mud kerp in turn has developed a unique behavior. Their scoop like nubs on each tentacle can be used to fling chunks of dirt and rock. While individually harmless, an entire mound flinging rocks and dirt from behind the safety of port holes can be a deterrent.

Evolving from the Tusked Humpback Fennet, the Snakejaw Fennet's mouth now opens even wider. Obviously, it is used to get more delicious food in a single bite, but it also begins using its mouth to hide its young in times of danger, similar to alligators and many species of fish.

Your inane bitching isn't adding anything of worth to this thread either.

Anyways, the Harpoon Kerp has adapted further to it's niche. It's simplistic compound eye became larger over the generations, granting it greater field of vision, and thus a primitive capacity to detect movement, and thus track it's prey better. It's fins also developed further, with the tail fin growing shorter, but far wider, allowing the creature's strong tail to propel this hunter fast in pursuit of the kill. The side fins, and to an extent, the side tentacles in turn, adapted more to steering, and quick hunting, and evasion maneuvers making the harpoon kerps rather agile swimmers.

Finally, their mouth parts have adapted into a better cutting, and piercing tool, that lets the Harpoon kerps bore trough the hard shells of other kerp species more easily.

These relatively minor adaptations make this predator more well suited to hunting it's prey, as well as avoiding bigger predators.

Harpoon kerp came from the sea kerp line and never mentioned radical growth spurts. They are not three feet long and you'll have to cite that to change that. Benis bushes are a direct mutation from other benis roots. Why would they be so much smaller than others? Try to keep in mind that a Giant Pholl is probably no larger than a two feet at the greatest "wing" span.
>>
>>36876226
The Snakejaw Fennet evolves simple nubs that stick out from it's beak, allowing it to grind up plants for easier digestion.

Benis roots are not a few inches tall. That poster just didn't know how big the thing it evolved from was. Other animals, like Giant Gulper or the Skynet had to go through six evolutions to get to less than a meter in size. A complex critter like the harpoon kerp is not going to do that in one jump.

An entirely different question: how do you guys think this game would work in real life? I start with a couple of small organisms drawn on paper, stick them to a wall and invite people to evolve them.
I've got a light-table (the kind used by animators, don't know a decent english word for it) so you can draw something new directely above the previous drawing.

I have a group of friends coming over for new years eve who are really in to board games, so they could play this in between meals and games.
I also have an event for art-students coming up, so I'd also like the test it there. Last time we did some group drawings and such, which was a lot of fun.
Which group do you think would be more fun to play with?

Pro:
No need for copy pasting charts afterwards, just tape your drawing to the wall where it fits.

Con's:
paper get's shredded, dirty...
The players would be less autistic than on /tg/, so they could make less realistic changes?

What do y'all think?

For those of you who forgot, the Micra Kerp females hunt by luring herbivores in with their plant-like appendages, injecting poison in the prey and then dragging them underground, for the colony to feed on.
Ofcourse this is hard when you're about the size of a Mole Fennet and the world around you is getting larger. So the Micra Kerp have greatly grown in size.
Their females have grown distinguisably more than the males, and the guards ar now also larger than the workers. Overall the species is now able to take on larger prey.

the pile kerps social behavior continues to evolve. The mounds grow in size proportionate to the population. Members of the pile add on pebbles, sticks, and other small items to the mud mound, pounding them into the walls. The more adorned and larger a mud mound, the more likely it will attract displaced pile kerps, bring a valuable addition to the gene pool.

The Nomadic Mud Kerp has become more organized, the small groups are now large migrating hordes lead by dominant leaders. When two groups come into conflict the leaders will engage in combat, but rarely to the death. Within the first few slaps of their bulbous clubbed appendages the victor is decided. Nesting materials are often carried by individuals as they migrate, to include small peices of dried grass or twigs.

For the first time the Mud Kerp subspecies are not only able to hold their own, but on occasion repel enemies.

Toxic Phantoms are actually supposed to be divergent from Durable, but unless someone evolves both lines I guess it's a moot point.
Increased social interaction, reliance and interbreeding among PhantomSat strains has caused a new dominant strain to arise almost simultaneously in all lines.

A mutation that allowed the Sat to more adeptly process the vibrational signals received from the world has now had a chance to flourish instead of being crushed in the mass murder, hyper aggressive cold war of eons past.
Now it's ability to quickly determine what is food and what isn't, as well as avoid large incoming predators has allowed it to outbreed similar strains.

<increased intelligence>
<more sophisticated pack hunting>

(I thought this was a logical result but if anyone has objections ill hear em)
(and as always, anybody can feel free to do some evolutions on these, I'm not trying to claim dominion or anything)

Mud pilekerps have been living within their dwellings for so long that their shells have begun to soften and even atrophy in certain areas. Dependency on the community, and the community mound cause more social behaviors such as food and pebble hording in a central chamber, as well as roles. Some Mudkerps will sit atop the mound as lookouts, slapping the top of the mound when danger approaches, while others will defensively guard the portholes. For those journeying outside, due to their albino heritage a mud bath is essential.

The Nomaid Mudkerps continue to become stockier, stronger, more mobile. Their social development is markedly slower than their cousins. Of note is during an attack the horde will have small groups break off to distract their prey, be it a Pilekerp nest, or a lone kerp of another species.

the pile kerp continues to loose it's shell due to soft shelled mudkerbs being able to navigate narrower more dense corridors and rooms, and escaping the periodic nomad invasion.

The Nomads have developed a peculiar habit of carrying leaves or small piles of matted grass in their mandibles, shielding themselves from the pelting onslaught from a pile kerp mound. These items often vary wildly in origin, with the more impressive the shield the more likely the kerp is to find a mate.

The Complex-Jaw Levipholl begins scavenging as well as hunting. In doing so, it begins to gather many bacteria and other unpleasant things in its mouth. This, however serves as an advantage, as when the creature goes hunting, its bite is actually toxic.
Instead of wasting energy chasing after creatures, all the CJ Levipholl needs to do is bite once. It then waits as the virulent microscopic organisms go to work, and begin paralyzing and killing the afflicted creature. When the poor victim is fully immobile, the CJ Levipholl eats its fill.
Using this strategy, the CJ Levipholl can take down creatures much larger, even larger than itself, meaning it has more food readily available to it.

[note: I imagine the inside of the jaw-like structures are lined with tiny little teeth for gripping poor sods that eventually end up as food for this beast.]

Harmony has been very, very good to the Phantoms. With the lack of extreme cold pushing them into aggressive tendencies all the time, two major oddities have developed.

The rising social tendencies have awakened what may be a tendency to merge with nearby Phantoms and combine resources and abilities to temporarily, or permanently if they choose, become something [more]

Amalgamations of different types of Phantomsat (and the occasional Ghost) can usually be seen surrounded by swarms of Phantoms, directing the feeding swarms to patches of seagromb and the occasional eyephol overwhelmed with sheer numbers and copious amounts of toxin.

A derivative form of Durable Phantomsat has regained it's green pigment. But instead of as a camoflage advantage, the colouration is a mere side effect of the <Solar Phantom>'s ability to create food for itself from sunlight.

The receding ice sheets combined with the sharp decrease in survival of only the physically strongest strains has allowed the <Solar Phantom> to thrive at surface level, needing to do little hunting to survive.

They can usually be found in the microcosm surrounding FLOATER GROMB, which they occasionally feed from.

No, what kills collaborative projects like these is pointless bitching, arguing and infighting.
It drives people away, and sours the whole mood of games like this.
While a tripfag who doesn't contribute just takes up post space, a faggot who bitches about everything, and argues pointlessly with other posters not only takes post space, but also poisons the whole game as well.

Just post your critters and evolve them. That is what keeps games like this alive. Bitching achieves nothing.

Over the generations, the eye of the harpoon kerps wraps nearly completely around their heads, granting them an excellent field of view. Their ability to track movement is also increased due to this, making them better at pursuing fleeing prey.

A lesson though about quests, or evo games on 4chan. dont do them here. For all it's magical realm status, i think an evogame would do better in TGchan. This is not the old /tg/ that was able to "live and let live"

I went to sleep.

My First Evogame was Primordial, and I think the success could be real for this one as well if we're willing to put in the work.

Charts and descriptions are essential I guess, not everyone is willing to dig up past threads to see what a thing does.
Events and interaction between strains too (so if someone makes an evolution that affects another strain, that strain adapts)

If the thread is still alive when I get back, I'll try and fill that role as best I can.

>>36893366
'Namefagging' is generally frowned upon unless you have good reason.
In evo threads however we found it helps keep track of content creators (which is more important at the 'civ' stage' but not necessarily the early evo stage)
>>

I thought this game already had an Events master though.

What happened to him?
>>
>>36893366
having a Tripcode or Name is saying 'im more important than all the other anons here' which in some cases is true, such as for Quest runners or story times, by using one outside of the right situations you tell other that you feel that you need the attention of being a known person on a website designed around the ideals of anonymity.

Due to their newly found Jaw structure, Some of the Complex-Jaw Levipholl, lessened their reliance upon their fins by simply latching onto prey with their new mandibles and waiting for it to die. The doomed creature would often travel far attempting to shake the Complex-Jaw Levipholl off, often taking them up into streams heading inland.
This dependance on their jaw allowed those with less water surface resistance to hold on longer and thus survive and get more food. Causing future generations to have smaller fins.
They now inhabit riversystems

The continued reliance upon their reliance upon their jaws causes their webbing to reduce even further.
Their new river homeland leaves them grabbing onto many land creatures who come to the water to drink.
Many cling onto these land creatures and kill them using the toxins, but often the animals escape and die outside of the water as the majority of Pholls let go as they leave the water.

With all of this harmony and population boom going around, a creature evolves to take advantage of all of the sex.

A Branch off of the earlier longer silver pholl, (Before the spiked jaw developed), develops a new organ in order to compete with its cousins better jaw.
The new organ is located in the central chest and is a Vomeronasal organ and is used to detect pheromones of the various animals, both prey and predator in the sea. This organ itself develops in the centre of the creature in two bumpy protrusions.
As it as no tongue, the information receivers that actually sense the pheromones and send them to the central organ for processing are small tiny feelers that develop on the fins.

It now hunts by detecting the pheromones of other creatures, recognizing nearby prey and tracking them down, and hiding when it 'senses' nearby predators.

Forgive me, /tg/, but this was going to happen sooner or later.

The Molesats/Brosats have long suffered from the problem of their eggs freezing in temperatures the mother herself can live quite well in. The females of the species have solved this problem by drawing the eggsac into their own bodies; now the eggs benefit from the insulation of their mother's fat and fur. This cavity is sealed off from the outside world by an orifice that is usually kept shut by muscles that only relax when exposed to chemicals released from freshly hatched eggs. To fertilize those eggs in the first place, the males have developed an appendage unlike any other seen before with the sole purpose of penetrating the female's orifice and delivering sperm.

As the guy who posted the new Molesat, I'd just like to say that I've been meaning to give the Molesats proper wombs since before the Ice Age, but it wasn't until today that I realized that the dick was a necessary evil that would have to go with that.

Of course, it is the Ice Age. He can't have his wang out all the time or it'll freeze of, so clearly he can retract it and not look indecent.

(This was a horrible mistake)

While not a new evolutionary strain, the Phantomsat conglomerate practices have grown in size and capability.

Hundreds of Phantomsat (and the occasional ghost) form enormous towers, capable of pinpointing the locations of prey, and other SATtowers with extreme accuracy, even miles away.

The towers are never seen without their Satellites (heh), the hundreds of Phantoms and Ghosts that accompany them and protect them from threats as well as retrieve food for the growing Sat community.

Sat communication, a series of sonic waves formed by undulating the body or swishing a tentacle, has increased the overall noise level in the oceans by a significant amount, as Sattowers send messages to one another.

<Highly increased social, intellectual and combat prowess when in range of a Satellite Tower.>

The Molesats could not have evolved a womb at a better time. As the world gets colder and the other creatures get vicious again, this latest evolution seriously curbs egg mortality. They evolve further, with some of their hairs growing into sensitive whiskers that let them better feel approaching enemies.

The Pile mudkerp from here on out will be called the mudkerp, as it only lives in the mud. The Nomad Mudkerp has expanded it's migration beyond the mud, not too far, but it will now be called the Nomad Kerp.

Increased Hostility in the Kerp populations has resulted in genocidal tendencies beyond any rationality. Entire populations will fight to the death, and now even their normal predators will pick off stragglers and the survivors of battles gone badly. Attempting to glut on mudkerbs as in the past can be suicidal.

The Mudkerp has continued to develop social behavior, they will cover eachother in mud, sticks, and small pebbles as a form of armor in their defense of each mud fortress.

The Nomads exhibit no apparent awareness of personal injury, a trend that has been continuing in increasing amounts over each generation. The also have crude grasping appendages, while not opposable allow them to grapple. these are the evolution of their grasping nubs which were calcified protrusions of their tentacle clubs.

On the mudflats there is only war. tiny adorable war.

Some Toenail sat begin to make use of their bulk as a weapon, slamming into each-other as well as other organisms. This is employed as a defense against predators, used to win mates, and to drive away other animals that would eat their food sources. Those able to apply more power are more likely to breed resulting in greater leg muscles and a slightly lighter shell. they also have a tendency to attack whatever damages them resulting in them being more likely to set off explosive grombs.

Gonna work on this line for a bit.

Continued pressure has brought further change to the Guardian Sat.

They have developed a sleeker shell to reduce drag, increasing speed. The legs have grown longer to increase the length of their stride and to pack in more muscle. The footpads grow broader to increase traction and spread their weight, allowing them to stand higher on the snow. The fronts of their heads have developed a plate of absorbent armor to reduce the damage they do to themselves when they charge.

Do I need tone it back or does this all work for a single evo?
>>
>>36905418
Usually you would do one or two of those that are very closely related (e.g. Leg length and shape or armour shape changes together)

but since it's right after an event (ish) I have no problem with it. Just dial it back a bit for further evolutions unless something drastic happens.

Please ignore any vague phallic resemblance.
seriously, that's not what I intended.

Their is little difference in build between male and female Guardian Sats, combine that with a more aggressive lifestyle and mating season consists of a series of massive brawls for the most attractive mates. As a result of fighting amongst themselves the armor on their fronts has grown to cover more of the lower region. These better armored Sats are less likely to be crippled and as such they prosper over the previous iteration of Guardian Sat.

The Phantom response to the ice age is violent, but in an unexpected way.

Instead of breaking apart Eons of harmony altogether, the Sat towers and their swarms seem to be acting as a single Sat in relation to everything else.

The swarms protect themselves and the towers and mercilessly destroy any other lifeforms that enters it's radius of influence.

Phantoms born near a tower remain with it for their entire lifetimes or until the tower is destroyed, which causes the swarm to return to old habits (see: Feeding Frenzy file 1201)

A Sat-ilite tower being destroyed is a relatively rare occurrence, but the Towers wage war against each other constantly, jockeying for breeding and feeding grounds.

Favoured Prey: Everything

<semi mobile absolute territories established>

I realize that a lot of interaction based changes have been happening with the Phantoms recently, i should probably get down to brass tacks and start pumping out organic shot guns or something

All of this aggressive development is costly, to fuel stronger and more active bodies they need more food. Some among the Guardian Sat have developed a pair of tiny nubs. These nubs aid in the search for food by enabling them to more effectively feel out food sources, with those possessing nubs able to find food slightly more quickly than those without. This small advantage results in them to slowly out-competing their fore-bearers.
>>
>>36906653
I'm a little hazy on how this all works, could you break it down for me? In a sort of "explain-like-I'm-five" kind-of-way?
>>
>>36906737
Think of a small country made up of Sats. Now martial law has gone into effect, as well as an isolation policy that is put into effect. Now the military junta kills everything that goes into its borders and turn them into food.

>>
>>36906737

>>36906835

>>
>>36906887
During the period of harmony (AKA weather doesn't suck as bad), they formed colonies to better their survival.
Now that worse ice age: the electric boogalooing continued, they turned into the killer sat-ilites.
>>
>>36906887
It was a previous evo that is now going horribly wrong for everyone else.
>>
>>36906887
Alright so, lemme break it down.

The line that the <Phantomsat> evolved from came about by smooshing a bunch of sats together. I didn't do that but I'm working with it as a pre disposition to melding and improvement (how did they evolve this in the first place? ask whoever started this line)

This is basically continuing the trend with the new Generation since they had HARMONY HARMONY to make them more interested in working together again.

I introduced the concept of the Post-Ghostphantom Evos becoming hyper aggressive when it's cold, to explain part of them going from HARMONY WORK TOGETHER, to solitary cannibal murderers when ice age hit the first time.

Now, the cycle continues.

uhh

The GREY ones with BLACK cores are <Phantomsat>, technically a pre evolution of the other colours. They can pick up vibrations and are about as smart as...I don't know a fish hunter?

The BLUEish ones with the PINK cores are <Durable Phantomsat> more durable versions of the grey and have regenerative capabilities.

The ORANGE ones with RED cores are <Toxic Phantomsat>, they are more sluggish but have slightly higher regenerative powers than the Durables, also their flesh is a mild paralytic and toxic when consumed in high amounts.

The GREEN ones with BROWN cores are <Solar Phantoms> that developed the ability to turn solar energy into food during harmony time.
They're probably all about to die out because they have no heightened regen.

>>36907388
The 'clump' essentially has them sharing processing power and minor abilities with each other allowing them to direct other Phantoms (and ghosts) who for some reason actually listen.

They can and do break apart, but it is a slow process and individuals usually only leave to breed or feed.
Once formed the tower itself usually stays (even if made up by different phantoms than originally) unless it takes critical damage somewhere.

The blue stuff was just supposed to be lots of tentacle merging, running under flesh, accessing cores, all that jazz. Squik

The success of these nubs brings about a tend in the Guardian Sat as those with longer, stronger, and more sensitive feelers have an easier time finding food. The tendrils spur increased development of a nervous system in order to better make use of the input, which coincidentally brings about slightly increased awareness throughout the rest of the body.

Basically, they're more capable of feeling pain and other such sensations.
