You are Princess Sonriel Sutkezasael Impron Xophoetaron! Heir to the ebon and bone throne of the Demonlands, and a champion of love and justice. Together with your demonic cat, blood seeking mace, mad scientist best friend, musclehead mage buddy, wolf-girl stern soldier, and buddy girl rookie cop you are questing to locate and win the Princess Battle Tournament, a multinational contest to determine the figurehead leader of the Allied Kingdoms!

>Current Level - Pretender Princess
>XP - 1 - Level up available!
>Unlocked Modes: Passion and Heart.

You are currently in bat country, and you have learned that absolutely none of the 'civilized lands' of the Allied Kingdoms were aware that the Demonlands have been united under a monarchy! Whaaat! No wonder no one knew you were a princess. They didn't even know you were real... Well, that's a bit frustrating. But now that you have corrected that error, surely you can get into the Princess Battle Tournament now.

"Ah, that information is for members of the Allied Kingdoms only, I'm afraid," One of the head priests tells you, after you inquire about the location of the tournament for the hundredth time.

Areli points a finger at him, "So you do know. Well, we're going to want to find out, I'm sure you can understand."

"We have ways of making you talk." Melody cackles, brandishing her wrench with a menacing air.

Not doing a super great job at diplomacy so far. With a sigh, you give the priest your best puppy dog eyes. "Can't you let me know? I'd oh so love to where it's being held." Cue flutter of eyelashes. And then a slowly spreading, shy smile. Yes. The ultimate technique.

"Look," The priest says holding up his hands in surrender, "I have no idea where it is at."

Well.

Well that's kinda funny really...
>>
>>36861377
Her pupils are heart shaped, yeah. I mean...She's technically a demon, right? Not really a human.

Speaking of, What makes a demon a demon? Is it a specific race? Is it just any people that were born in the demonlands?
>>
>>36861448

its a nature

You can have demon elves, demon goblins, demon etc. But mostly it is just called 'demons'. It has something to do with the demonlands terrain, yes.
>>
Placing your mace on the ground tip first, you lean on it, regarding the priest with an interested glance. "Well... what do you know?"

The priest's eyebrows (?!) raise. Well, the tufts of hair above his eyes. Seem to convey a sense of shock. Sorta. Bat expressions are hard to read. But you smile politely anyway. A princessly demeanor is hard work. "You seem interested in princesses at least. Do you wish to know the reason for our monarchy?" You simply nod. "Ah, interesting. Very well. A history lesson, then."

Yelsiviek was known as something else, a long time ago. The name forgotten to time. Now it is called this, the Land of Dusk Despite the cosmology of the universe or the natural world around it, the sun would shine upon the land only once every ten years, priests gathering to worship it. Gather power from it. And guide it to its proper place in the sky once more. They were the ones who kept it in place so the rest of the world could shine brightly.

A hundred years ago it disappeared, left without a trace. It's been dark ever since. A man showed up, however, with a plan. A massive plan. To steal the sun back once more, to give the people the warmth and light of that star among all stars once again. And the great thief pulled it off. He stole the sun and left it above Yelsiviek, shining prosperity and warmth on everyone.

But, the rest of the world suffered without it. And so, after much debate, he gave it back after creating a magical jewel to hold its power in the land for eternity. That jewel was placed in his crown. And that was how the Sun King of Yelsiviek was born.

"Sounds made up," Melody said, immediately. "Though there was an odd darkness event recorded to support the story. Still, that crown would be pretty freakin' powerful if it were real."

You feel like the story is probably 70% true. If not more.

"Ah, yes of course. But what about princesses? I do believe you have one, don't you? Is it just the daughter of the king? I know some countries select their princesses in different ways than pure heredity." It's true! Some people become princesses from popularity. Others are randomly chosen. Governments are very wierd. One thing is for certain: Every Allied Kingdom has a princess.

The priest nods along. "She's not the old king's daughter. He was the only king we ever had, but he established a simple rite. The crown chooses its heir. Sometimes it is a girl, when it is a girl: That is the princess. When it is a boy: He chooses a princess from among the priesthood. A strong connection with the sun is the very foundation of our government. The crown can only be worn by someone who is worthy. In some circles, it is wryly commented on that the crown is more ruler of our country than the king." He chuckles at this, but it seems kinda silly.

"So what's the princess like?" Time to get info on an opponent!

The priest sighs, crossing his arms, leathery wings at his sides, "Stubborn. Obstinate. Absurdly strong. She's the material of a great leader... some day."

With a wry smile, you nod your head, "Not today then, huh?"

Tilting his head the priest acknowledges without words, "Let's not bandy about treason so casually, hm?"

Well, that was informative! Her crown gives her most of her strength, apparently. Good to know.

Now, you're in a major city. There are shops and temples, and travellers from other countries. What's the plan of action?! Your only main goal is the princess battle tournament right now.

>Look for trouble.
>Look for info on where the tournament can be.
>Look for souveniers.

You excuse yourself quickly, deciding to explore the city a bit. The priest has been mined for all he is worth already, probably. Probably probably, at least. Still, you are restless, and you'd rather not start behaving like an ungrateful demon after being polite so far. It would just be rude. And improper. You're told that, essentially, as long as you conduct yourself in a manner befitting a princess that you wouldn't see much trouble from the natives. Surprisingly tolerant for a group of mad zealots.

So you head around town, firstly to look for a souvenier for Father. Because he'd want one. Probably, at least that is what you told yourself. Life isn't so simple, though. A Zotz, clad in golden armor, appears from the shadows with a wicked dagger in hand. "Princess Sonriel. Raedizel sends his regards!" Raedizel? Oh, he's one of the dukes in your father's court. He has influence out here? How odd.

The dash is easily dodged, and Areli steps in, delivering a solid punch across the face. The priest shrieks, and explodes into a cloud of shadowy bats. What the heck. Is this even an assassination run? The shadow bats turn into blood, raining all over the street. This is just gross. It begins to form bones, growing into a swarm of strange bone-like dogs. There was a ghostly yipping sound as they lunged at you!

"What the hell?" Melody asks, pushing up her glasses.

The bunny girl shrieks, and the wolf girl swears softly, lunging into battle and batting one down. Who was Raedizel again? Archmagus of the four spirits? Or something like that? Shadow, Bone, Blood, and... Breath? Was it breath? You're having a hard time remembering.

What's the plan?!

>Try to just smash all the dogs and see what happens!
>Defend Melody long enough for her to formulate a magical countermeasure!
>Let Areli and the Lymaerians go buck wild on these fools, and retreat to safety. You don't know if more are coming, after all. It could be dangerous!

Well, at the very least, you can deal with the blood problem. Slamming your mace into the ground, it begins to draw in the excess blood, soaking up and preventing the creation of further bone dogs. Turning over your shoulder, you shout at Melody, "Hey! Can you figure out what is happening her, please. It would be lovely of you." Giving Melody your most encouraging wink, you signal for Arelit to fall back. The Lymaerians fall back with him, forming a loose perimeter around the scientist.

Melody adjusts her glasses, and puts a finger on her chin. You recognize that look. It's the dynamic thinking process of a genius at work! How fascinating! Well, it would be, if you didn't have bizarre Marrow Hounds chasing after you.

Areli and the two Soul Guards seem to be keeping them at bay, and as soon as your mace- Wait, you're calling it a mace again! Your magical wand! As soon as your magical wand is done drinking up the blood. You mean purifying the ground. When that happens, you're back into the fray!

The marrow hounds aren't too difficult, but they seem to pull themselves back together quickly, reforming and mixing with each other's parts to keep up a relentless assault. You think maybe Melody was the right call here...

Areli is starting to get tired, you can tell. You can only punch bone for so long before it starts to get tiring, for sure. "Ah! I've got it!" Melody pulls out a doohicky of some kind. "That aetheric stabilizer I made to prevent teleportations, if I can modulate it to affect the field he is using to morph into marrow hounds then I should be-" Okay, whatever she said while messing with it worked, and now the priest is back on the ground.

"Hello, you recognized me, but I'm afraid I don't recall any Zotz being in our kingdom. Mind telling me a few things?" You take his dagger, and twist it into a circle it will make a nice ring for father!

Oh no. Our opening move was killing him and letting our magic wand eat his brain.
>>
"So," You begin, resting your magical wand on the zotz' chest. "You mentioned Raedizel earlier. That's pretty interesting. You see, I thought the Demonlands infiltration-" There is a sickening crunch. You were probably leaning too hard on the magical wand...

You look over to Michi, and she is making a disgusted and worried face. Kaori sorta looks pale, too. Areli is having trouble making eye contact, and Melody seems to be taking notes. Haven't they all killed people before? It can't be that bad. Oh.

Your mace is currently drinking the blood and also draining the zotz priest of all his vital organs, causing the body to wither and curl up underneath its weight. An odd clicking sound is heard, as well as a raspy rattle that seems to be echoing from inside the body. It is, in a word, a little gross. You'd pull it away, but at this point it is better to just let the mace feast. The golden armor cracks, and begins to splinter into faded flecks of metal. His bones are curled and thin, like straw, by the time the weapon is done. This is bad.

Very bad.

Your mace hasn't done this since that night two years ago. It shouldn't awaken again, you've got that seal in place, but you thought this had been fixed. At least, you were told that. Talking to it right now would be a bad idea regardless.

"Uh, Princess..." Areli says, scratching his cheek.

"Fascinating," Melody says. "I haven't seen that reaction before. What prompted it? You seem rather nonplussed. Is that the air of nobility, or has this occurred more often than just this one time?" Melody seems to be done writing down her reactions and is stepping towards you.

>Your mace has drained a soul completely. You now have the Soul of a Zotz inside of it. Other souls include Soul of a Human. Soul of a Dragon.

You heft the weapon and rest it on your shoulder. "No questions in that line of inquiry will be answered, Melody." You use a very cold, authoritative voice. They seem legitimately chilled by it.
