/tg/ - Traditional Games

You're Alciadaea, Alcie for short and you are the King's closest heir after an incredible plague. Two days ago, you passed your graduation exam at the Wizard's Academy and are now a full-fledged white mage. Yesterday, you started your journey to the capital. Accompanied by your friends William, a necromancer in training and Solomon, an elementalist also in training as well as three of the Archmage's servants, you just reached a crossroads with an inn. It's still only afternoon, but the servants are already really determined to rest here for the night. At least two. Another one thinks there might be another inn reachable in time. They decide to let you make that decision, since this is your journey after all.
What do you want to do?

>"Let's stay here. You never know what might delay you. Also we can take off the rest of the day."
The servants nod. They seem to like the idea. Who knows what time they got the day off last time. The Archmage has a really tight schedule after all. You enter the inn and book two rooms next to each other. The two male servants, Greg and George will share their room with Will, while the female servant, Jean will stay with Solomon and you. But who cares about beds at this time of the day? It's still early. So you decide to...

You decide to train your magic a bit. It never hurts to be in shape after all. You go to the yard behind the inn and already see William focused in training. He summoned an imp which at the moment is juggling with six cabbages. William seems to notice your confusion in the same moment as he notices your arrival.
>"Hey, Alcie. Seems weird, huh? Master Roeder told me that this is a great way to practice complex summons. I don't know if that's true, but I won't let the chance to improve go because it sounds weird."
You nod. This seems really weird, but that's just the way master Roeder is. Weird, but still really powerful. You decide to join in on the training.

Hearthfire creates a small holy fire. Close wounds is a heal spell. I'm not too sure about the others. I think they have pretty similar effects.
>>
>>36779869
Calm Spirit makes an upset or fearful person calm down. Light of serenity works kind of like this but not that strong but in an AoE.

Looks like Close Wounds. I'll go and write then.

>"Hey Will. Do you mind to give me something to heal? I would like to train, too."
Will takes a few seconds to think, then he nods.
>"I already know how. Wait a second."
He whispers some words in Infernal, and the Imp giggles as a response. He snaps his fingers and three cabbages are replaced with knifes, which change from the regular rhythm.
>"Shouldn't talk much... Two rhytmns take a lot of concentration..."
You smile.
>"Thank you, Will. Magicka... Vita... Apollon!"
The cabbages are somewhat alive, which makes the healing work somewhat well on them. You make them regrow at the rate of the knives. After around half an hour, you stop your training. At the same moment, Will disbands the imp. Both of you sigh somewhat relieved but tired. Will tells you he'll go to his room to read about something he noticed during training. What about you?

>>
You decide to grab a bite to eat. When you enter the dining hall, you hear a familiar voice. Solomon is sitting next to the kitchen door.
>"Come over here, Alcie! Food gets here the fastest."
Next to her are already a few empty plates. At the moment she's eating something that looks good, but really much.
>"You should try this. It's like half a pig on roasted bread. Maybe not half a pig, but pretty close."
You sit down and order some fruits and milk out of old habit. While eating, you think of Allana. What may she be doing? Maybe you should give her a send... no, the stone is for real emergencies, you decide.
The evening has come and you have finished your meal which got a bit out of hand as Solomon wanted to show you all the things she found delicious. You only took a bite of everything, but it was still more than usual. Your stomach is slightly complaining.

You try to relax and lay down in a somewhat comfortable way. Then you place your hands on your stomach and channel your healing energy through it. You feel somewhat less bloated, but still it's not completely perfect. Nontheless, you're pretty proud of your doing. Until now you always had focused on closing wounds when you thought about healing. This might be useful as well. And it doesn't even take much.
>Minor spell added: Cure small unease (Resolves bloating and such, no need to roll unless it's a special occasion)
Relieved, you drift off into sleep.

You feel kind of dirty from the traveling and training stuff. Therefore you go down to the dining room and ask the landlord for the possibility of a bath. He nods and asks his wife to look after this. She takes you to a somewhat more secluded room than the dining room and starts to put water into a bathtub made of zinc.
>"This might take a while. We don't have those fancy things like hot springs or a heating system like the big cities. We're just a simple inn at some random crossroads."
she tells you while lighting some wood to heat up the water. You nod.
>"Well, that's just the way it is. How about we talk a bit about something. I hear a few things about pretty much everything from travelers."

Do you have something you want to talk about or have questions about?

>"How's the road ahead? Any difficult parts?"
you ask. The woman shakes her head.
>"Not really. The kingdom has been known for good trade opportunities for quite a long time now. The late king's grandfather believed it to be good. And he was right. The roads are kept in wonderful order for the traders and there hasn't been a day of war since then. If this plague hadn't been..."
You slightly lower your head. Yes, if it hadn't been this way, your life might have been less confusing in the last few days. You still don't understand fully.
>"So the roads are good and there are no threats or such?"
The woman nods.
>"The woods house a few wolves and bears, but they usually tend not to come to the road. You should have no difficulties. The capital is three days ahead and every day there is an inn easily reachable. Also, the water might now be acceptably warm. If you need something, simply call for me."
She turns around and leaves the room. You drop your robe and get into the water. It's actually tempered really well. After some washing up, you simply lie in there and enjoy the warmth. Relaxed, you get out of there and put on another pair of robes. Since you only took a few with you, you use the remaining warmth of the water to wash the worst parts of dirt off the old ones.
Breakfast time has come and you and your companions sit around the same table you found Solomon at yesterday. Will is eating out of a small bowl filled with who-knows-what, Solomon is eating EVERYTHING again and the other three simply took a piece of bread and some fresh meat or cheese.

So some sausage and eggs to go with Aunt Ally's everyday favorite. I'll be in the kitchen.

>"Some of what she's having at the moment... oh wait, had a few seconds ago..."
you say to the barmaid serving you, pointing at Solomon's now empty plate.
>"And possibly some fresh fruits if you got some. Also, a cup of milk would be nice."
She hurries off and quickly returns with your order. A few grapes, an apple... not bad. Everything's really tasty.
>"So, what now?"
Solomon asks. Greg clears his throat.
>"Today will be as usual, I guess. We'll continue our journey towards the capital after finishing breakfast. This evening, we'll stay at the 'Exploding Badger' in Lakeview, a little village on our way. Also, it might become a little less sunny today, since today's distance will be through the forest."
You scrape the last bits of egg from your plate and pack up your things, then get on the road again. Soon, you can see the forest coming close. William seems somewhat absent-minded.

You simply shrug.
>"Possibly. But maybe it's something useful. You'll only find out if you look inside."
William nods and starts to unwrap the package, slowly, carefully. With each layer coming off, a disgusting smell strengthens. After the last layer comes off, Will just sits there in disbelief.
>"What is it, Will? Something you didn't expect?"
He seems to be as close to tears as he is to laughter.
>"Something I should have expected, I think. He just packed me some... fishsticks. And they're mouldy by now."
You don't quite know what to say about this.
>"For years, I slaved away in this hellhole! I barely kept my sanity! And he gives me some mouldy old fishsticks?"

You decide to take a closer look at the fishsticks. They're not just mouldy, they're more like... slimy. And black, like they were burned really, really bad. There's even a maggot on one of them. The fishsticks are like the archetype of... dead. That must be it! There's some necromantic secret to them. There must be.
>"Will? Take a look at these fishsticks. There's something... different."
Will stops sobbing and looks at you, somewhat confused.
>"What do you mean? Those are just some old, bad fishsticks."
You shrug.
>"Well, there occured a thought to me. They're dead, brought into a form in no way resembling their living ways, burned to a crisp and rotten thoroughly. If something in this world is dead, this thing is."
Will looks at the fishsticks like he's been struck by lightning. There's pretty likely a necromantic secret to them. Will starts mumbling a few words in Infernal.

Will seems to concentrate on the fishsticks incredibly hard. You don't even dare to talk to him. Finally, he mashes his hand into them and pulls out some shady figure. Again, he mumbles a few words and the figure slides out of his hands and melts into his shadow.
>"Incredible.."
he sighs.
>"What was that thing? And did it just... become your shadow or something?"
Will nods.
>"Kind of. It's like a second shadow or something the like."
Now this seems to be interesting but also somewhat confusing.
>"The liquid shadow, as this is called, is a magic creature which can be bound to someone. Then it can be used in a fight or to gather information. Actually that's incredible. Only a chosen few necromancers even know how to create one of these. And master Roeder decided to give it to me."
He slightly bows his head.
>"Thank you, master Roeder. This means a lot to me."
The next few hours stay without greater occurances. But only a few minutes before leaving the forest, the wagon stops. You look out to check for the reason.
>"What's up out there, Greg?"
Greg points forward.
>"A lynx is blocking the path. We can't get him to move. He's hurt and therefore frightened.

>"It's okay... I'm here to help... Magicka... Vita... Pace!" Your Calm Spirit worked. The lynx isn't reacting with agression anymore. It just whines a little, when you touch it. You channel your energy to close its wounds, but they seem to be grievous. You fear that even your powers seem to be not enough to save it, when your necklace begins to glow dimly. You feel fresh energy streaming through you and can nearly hear Alanna's voice.
>"Focus on the worst first. Then continue with the second and so on."
Doing so, you close the wound on the lynx's breast first, continuing with the neck the legs and finally closing even the light scratches over the left flank. The lynx rises slowly, then licks your face and runs off into the woods.
With a feeling of success, you continue your journey. After a while, Solomon points back where you came from.

However she can eat this much. Magic, possibly.
