The few hundred Green Lanterns that have come to your aide sweep the space around the planet of Oa. Rays of green light bounce up and down, sweeping across the stars in search of an inter-dimensional tear, the ones that seem so common enough that it is actually a common threat. Whatever the Guardians did, and you assume they did it because a lot of things seem to be their fault, they must have really messed up.

You are Lumière Berger, Green Lantern of Sector 2814, and you have rallied these Green Lanterns, against the word of the Guardians to save Princess Amethyst’s Gemworld. It is quite a mouthful to explain, but in time, maybe it will be a good story for when you are old and have a husband and you need a bed time story. Yes, the savior of Gemworld, oui oui that sounds exciting!

Kilowog flies up next to you, the hog-faced strong alien grunting. “We got no sighting on any tears in the area so far.”

“Keep looking,” you say. “It has to be around here somewhere.” You look over to see Clarissa, carrying Princess Amethyst in her arms. “Clarissa, good to see you.”

“Yep!” She carries a reconstituted Princess Amethyst in a bridal carry. “And I brought Princess Analyst with us too!”

Amethyst narrows her eyes, hopping off Clarissa and floating on her own. She carries her own magical aura capable of allowing her to breathe in space. “My name is Amethyst.”

“Right, Calvinist,” says Clarissa. Amethyst turns to you, weirded out. You shrug. “Have we found that tear into Gemworld?”

You shake your head. “Nope. Amethyst, do you still have your book?”

“Unfortunately, I was forced to abandon it when leaving Gemworld, that was my only way of re-entering the world,” she says sadly. “Green Lantern, be honest, can we really reclaim my world?”

> “We have to try!”

You cross your arms. “We have to try, Princess Amethyst. Your world, both of our worlds are of the highest priority. That tear-“

“I’VE FOUND THE TEAR!” Your ears ring as Rot-Lop-Fan cries out. The F-Sharp Bell certainly can get your attention. The task force starts converging in on Rot-Lop-Fan’s location, and there the mightiest F-Sharp Bell sweeps the area, showing a crack and a rip as his light casts over it. The tear is not open yet, but it certainly will be soon.

Salaak starts calculating. “By my calculations, the Tear will be open within 643 hours,” he says. 643 hours? “By your Earth standards, that is 26.8 days, rounded up.”

“So let’s tear it up and pound that sorry little yellow scud into the mud!” yells Kilowog.

“I believe that Green Lantern Berger should decide our plan of attack,” says Salaak. Pardon? The Green Lanterns look to you. “She was the one who organized this task force, I believe she be the one to lead it.”

Katma Tui, Green Lantern of 1417 and replacing your former teacher Sinestro, nods, smiling. “I agree. What will you have us do?”

> “Um, okay.”

Oooh, this is uh… surprising. You were really hoping someone like Kilowog, Salaak, or even Clarissa would take charge. Oh boy, okay… think… what military novels did you read? No, Im Westen nichts Neues does not count. Clérambault does not count as well. Hm… War of the Worlds? No, no, that will not work. La Chartreuse de Parme? You barely remember that.

Ugh, of all the things you have to be bad at, it is the one thing France is nearly in a constant state of, war!

You frustratedly sigh into your hands. Kilowog and Salaak glance at each other, confused. “O-… okay. Um, Monsieur…” You point to one Green Lantern. “… Monsieur Grasshopper, person!”

Green Lantern Grasshopper looks around, then points to himself. “Me?” he buzzes.

“Oui, you. Um… go open the tear with uh…” You point over to Kilowog and Salaak. “With Monsieurs Kilowog and Salaak, rapidement! Allez!” They nod, then fly over to the tear, zapping it with their rings. The crack starts creaking, starting to tear open and reveal Gemworld.

Clarissa pokes your shoulder, and you whip around in surprise. “Whoa, hey!” she says. “What do you want me to do?”

“Organize the troops!” you say.

Clarissa squints, confused. “Organize the troops?”

“Oui.” You nod quickly. “Yes. Organize.”

She crosses her arms. “Are you sure?”

You lean in close, surprising her. You even see a slight hint of pink on her cheeks. “Listen, I have no idea what I am doing. Please help, Clarissa.” The blush fades as she returns to a look of disbelief. “Please?”

She nods. “Just go find yourself one of the veterans. Sweetcheeks, I’m learning as much as you, ya know.” She pats your cheek. You sigh, rolling your eyes as you float away to meet Salaak.

“Monsieur Salaak.” He looks to you, ready to receive orders. “Can I trust you with the task of organizing everyone here into coherent units?”

He nods. “Understood.” He forms a little desk of screens and monitors before and starts communicating across everyone’s rings. “All Green Lanterns part of the Task Force, be ready to receive your assignments and postings. Stand by.” You look to one of the other veterans as well, Monsieur Rot-Lop-Fan.

“Monsieur, can I trust you to lead the first attack with me? Get two of your best Lanterns and you follow me, Clarissa, and Kilowog in.”

“Okay!” he yells. “The F-Sharp Bell will not fail to sound your way through!” Great, good. You look to the Tear, which is slowly coming open.

You point to Kilowog. “Kilowog, you’re with me. Monsieur Grasshopper! How is the Tear?”

He quickly chirps, “My name is Xax!” Oh, right. “And the Tear cannot be held open on its own, we will need to leave someone to keep it open!” You nod. “I will hold the Tear open for all of you to pass through, we should be able to provide a hole for five Lanterns at a time!”

“Good, good!”

Clarissa floats up to you. “What’s the plan then?”

“I will lead an advance team composing of myself, Kilowog, Rot-Lop-Fan and two other Lanterns, and Clarissa into the Tear first. We will advance methodically, and cautiously until we can be sure of the Manhunters numbers.”

Salaak nods. “How long have they’ve been in Gemworld?”

Princess Amethyst says, “At least two days. Why?”

“By now, they would’ve already set up manufactories to produce more Manhunters. On a small scale at least, according to the Book of Oa. If we are going to drive the Manhunters out of Gemworld, we must destroy those manufactories.” You nod, that is a sound point.

Princess Amethyst looks to you, determined. “I want to help you lead the attack. Most humbly I beg you, please let me fight by your side, Green Lantern!” This is not Shakespeare, Amethyst, but you suppose you will allow it.

“Very well.” You look to Arisia Rabb. “Arisia, go back to Mogo, find Eudora and bring her back here. A Blue Lantern will be instrumental to our success.” The young Lantern salutes, then starts flying off into the stars. “Right, everyone ready?” They all nod. “Bien, for the Corps! Let’s go!”

Xax, with one forceful motion, throws open the tear. He squeaks, groaning in exertion. “Go now!” Your assembled team flies in, seguing directly into the blue skies over Gemworld. It is of you, Kilowog, Clarissa, Rot-Lop-Fan, Princess Amethyst, and two other Green Lanterns. Already in your sight are dozens of Manhunter ships.

And already, you see hundreds of them coming out from the metal work to engage. “There they are!” yells Clarissa.

Out of your ring comes a projection of King Arthur, Sir Galahad, Sir Lancelot, and Sir Ector, Bors, Bedivere, Lionel, and more! They all ride upon mighty green steeds, wielding swords, shields, and lances for the charge. The Manhunters lower their staffs, firing yellow bolts at the knights. All they do is phase through or bounce right off. The Knights crash through the ranks of the automaton Manhunters, sending pieces of robots and metal flying everywhere!

And that’s before you can even close in. Kilowog and Clarissa fly in ahead of you, projecting a giant sledgehammer and a large baseball bat respectively. They start smacking and smashing Manhunters left and right.

That leaves you, Rot-Lop-Fan, and Princess Amethyst to clean up the rest. You blast one Manhunters apart, and another. Amethyst slices and cuts Manhunters apart with her mighty sword with all the fury of Gemworld she can muster. Rot-Lop-Fan simply screams and shouts in their direction, busting their metal structure apart.

“Signal the advance!” you yell. Rot-Lop-Fan calls forth his ring, sending a message to all Green Lanterns to come through. Your little army starts flying in through the Tear, the Lanterns are coming!

“Alright, where to now!?” shouts Clarissa.

“Everyone, start securing the population! Two to a village!” Once the initial wave of Manhunters is dealt with, you all dive down to the enchanted surface of Gemworld. Clarissa and Princess Amethyst follow you down to the ground. You land in a wrecked village, where Manhunters oversee the uprooting and bondage of the population. “Amethyst, get the villagers free, we’ll handle these Manhunters!”

She nods, running off and slicing a robot in her path. She starts breaking the chains of the villager, who cheer happily, then start taking up arms to help fight.

“Over there!” A squad of five Manhunters advance on you. Clarissa jumps up, and immediately crushes them underneath a freight train. She hops into the train, donning a conductor’s cap. “Here we go! Full steam ahead!” She pulls the cord, and the train lets off a mighty whistle as it steams forth at full speed. It plows through another group of Manhunters, shattering them under wheel.

Hmph. Show off.

“Grab those plates, grab their staffs, grab anything that looks like a weapon and follow to victory!” They all cheer, shaking their pitchfork and torches in righteous retribution. Now you’ve got an angry mob beside you, there’s no stopping you now! The villagers all disperse, ripping apart corpses of Manhunters to grab as extra armor or as trophies, taking their staffs to use as weapons to zap other Manhunters, or just plain in general mounting up for combat. This is an angry mob!

Princess Amethyst points her sword to the Amethyst Castle. “Legion has made his throne there! Villagers, let’s go!” You can see Clarissa’s freight train continuing to plow through the road and through trees, smashing Manhunters out of her way. “Follow us!”

You charge forth, a crowd of villagers all armed to the teeth behind you. Above you in the skies, the Green Lanterns fight on with the Manhunters, smashing them and killing them. The ships they brought into the dimension are blown to smithereens, flaming as their husks crash into the surface.

It’s time to liberate Gemworld!

-

-

The Manhunters have set up a grand defense at Amethyst Castle. There is one bridge thankfully not a drawbridge towards the iron gates. They fire at you from the walls, zapping and blasting the ground around you as you take cover. Clarissa’s train charges forth over the bridge, whistling ahead. But it breaks and explodes apart upon impact with the gate. Clarissa goes flying back, landing on her butt next to you. “That gate is stronger than it looks!” she says.

Princess Amethyst nods, her shield raised high as she deflects shots. “It’s enchanted, you will find no stronger gate in Gemworld!”

Not if you have anything to say about it!

Rolled 1 (1d2)

You project yourself a giant Turkish cannon to roll up at the front gate. You stand atop, holding the wick to light the fuse. “Alright, ready!” The cannon stops, already loaded with a massive cannonball. You can feel the bridge creak and groan underneath the weight of the massive siege engine. “Aim!” It steadies itself, ready to fire at the gate. “And-“

The bridge collapses underneath the weight of the cannon. No longer are your feet standing on anything. You look down to see the cannon drop, then explode at the bottom of the chasm.

Huh.

“Nice,” says Clarissa.

Princess Amethyst huffs, looking down the chasm angrily. “Great! We have lost our only good entrance to the castle, what now!?”

> “We look for an alternate route!”

You snap your fingers. “We look for an alternate route. We cannot simply fly in or else they will just shoot us when we fly in. No, we need something more stealthy, more… secretive.” You look to Princess Amethyst. “Are there any alternate ways into Amethyst Castle?”

Princess Amethyst scratches at her hair, pensive. “Uh…” Clarissa crosses her arms, a bit impatient. There does happen to be a battle going on out here. “I know one place, but you might not like it.”

“Anything,” you say. “Just name it.

-

-

You break the surface of the toilet water, taking a deep breath in, and immediately gagging. Your outfit is ruined, your hair is ruined, EVERYTHING about you is ruined. You quickly crawl out, splashing onto the hard stone floor. Princess Amethyst as well comes out after you, coughing and hacking out some water. Finally, Clarissa comes through, also wet and dripping. “Well, thank God you didn’t have Mexican food,” she says.

You spit out some water. Ugh… “Okay, we did it! Where are we?”

“This is happens to be my royal toilet, I think we’re right next to my bedroom!” says Princess Amethyst, a bit in disbelief that three of you just crawled up a poop chute and came out of her toilet. She collapses, tired. “Ugh…”

“Great, what now, Napoleon?” asks Clarissa.

“We band together and raise hell. Here’s what we do, we move in and take out their air defenses. Once that is done, we will have the other Lanterns swarm the castle. That sound good?” They both nod. “Good, now all this relies on us having the element of surprise so-“

“WAAAHOOOO!” Clarissa busts down the door, charging through the room and then busting down the wall. Through sheer bad luck, a Manhunter was behind that wall, and ended up becoming a new sparkling and wrecked ornament on the wall. Clarissa continues to move on without you both.

You sigh. “I suppose that works, come on, Princess.” You and Princess Amethyst follow Clarissa the bruiser.

-

-

“There!” You managed to catch up to her on top of a large watchtower overlooking the castle grounds. There in the Courtyard were two giant anti-aircraft batteries, firing away with great bolts of yellow energy. “We take those down, we open it up for us to take down Legion!”

“There are lots of Manhunters running around though,” says Clarissa. “Sucks to be them!” She drops down without your given permission, crushing a Manhunter under her feet, then engaging with a nine-iron golf club.

She needs to stop doing that. “Kilowog, gather the Lanterns!” you say over your ring. “We’re about to open the Castle to you all.”

“Roger!”

You and Princess Amethyst drop down, into a huge swarm of Manhunters.

You command forth an army of Crusaders, only the unhorsed Knights however for your ring seems a bit rusty today. They swarm over the Manhunters, adequate enough to give them trouble in the name of the Kingdom of Heaven! One of them even manages to decapitate a Manhunter with his mighty sword, the head rolling towards you in a dark comic manner.

“Amethyst, take on the cannons!” She nods, running up to one and slicing two Manhunters apart. She runs up the barrel of the gun, then slices down the barrel, splitting it wide open and rendering it useless. That’s one.

Clarissa pops up from the crowd, on the other barrel of the gun. “Whassup, Doc!?” She projects a giant hand, then places the finger in the barrel. Their attempt to fire only results in the gun exploding violently. “Ha!”

You call down the Lanterns. “Now, the defenses are down!” You can see those green dots in the sky turn into Green Lanterns. They land on the ground, battered, some injured, but not beaten. “How are things?”

Salaak reports. “We have ten casualties, non-fatal. It seems we are winning the battle by great margins. All that is left now is Legion and the Red Lanterns.” Ah yes.

“We’ll take ‘em together!” yells Kilowog. “Come on!” You all start rushing up the steps into the palace, only to be stopped by the arrival of the Red Lanterns themselves. At the head of their group, is Cherry Brigantina.

>>
>>36768485
“Cherry!” you yell. “I thought you were going to help us, why are you with Legion!?”

Cherry glares at you. “Atrocitus promised us our revenge on the Manhunters when the Guardians were gone.” She projects her signature lance, smashing the head into the ground as the other Red Lanterns stand back. “It ends here!”

Clarissa steps forth. “Not if I-“

“Not you!” screams Cherry. She points her Lance to you. “Atrocitus has put me in command of these goons you see behind me. I only work with them reluctantly.”

One of the Red Lanterns, whom is simply a ghastly monstrous head with arms and legs yells, “Hey! Who are you calling a goon you-“

“Shut up, Zox!” shouts Cherry. Zox and the other Red Lanterns back down, trying to look threatening. “Defeat me in single combat, and I will leave with my contingent.”

I figured our what Cherry is doing. She's gauging us, and giving this world a chance. She hasn't completely inebriated herself on Atrocious's Kool-Aide.

She sees what she, her lanterns, Legion, and the Manhunters are doing to Gemworld. She wants no part of it.

Single Combat is the chance she's giving us to prove we are righteous. To prove to her that it was okay to be confused by the revelation of papa Berger sheltering Jews.

Her rage has no direction, but she knows us to be a good person...to be a hero.

This is so brave of her. She's putting her standing at risk.

Thank you, Cherry.

Not really, but there are other options as well. She could be challenging us to single combat in order to work out some of her rage against our father by proxy.

There are many reasons why she might be doing this, but I think the key things to draw are that she's willing to stake everything on this one fight, and she wants the fight to be between us and her.
>>
>>36768867
Next time we wear an Orange ring, we should give ourselves a new orange outfit, a desert Sultana's Robes to go with the harem.
>>
>>36768901
We still need to see if we can put orange rings on people to puppet them around. It'll be much easier than projecting chains all the time.
>>

>>

> “Fine.”

You nod, motion the rest of the Green Lanterns to stay back. “If she tries anything, I’ll kill her,” says Clarissa. You place your hand over her chest then gently push her back. The two of you circle each other. Your costume starts reforming into your Orange Lantern uniform, the showgirl skirt, the shorts, the hardened chestplate and everything.

“Cherry, listen, I know you’re angry.”

Cherry tilts her head. “Really. You know I’m angry. Astounding observation.”

That- Well… ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.

“Just get on with it.” She spins her lance, then brandishes the head right under your chin, inches away from your neck.

“Get ready, Cherry!” She steps back, readying her lance. Oh, you’re going to give her the business alright. Here it comes. “Get ready for some love!” You cast forth a horde of cute little puppies of all breeds, corgis, German Shepherds, Labradors, Golden Retrievers, everything! Cherry steps back, surprised. “Go get her!” They all yap and bark, rushing at Cherry.

“Hey, hey, wait!” yells Cherry. “This isn’t proper-“ A corgi jumps onto her chest, knocking her down. “Oof! Wait!” The other puppies swamp her, lying on top of her, rolling around, and tugging at her sleeves and dress with their little teeth. “Stop! Stop!” She starts laughing as the puppies nuzzle at her tickle spots. “Ahah! No! No! Stop!”

You stand over her, crossing her arms. “Do you surrender?” you ask.

“No!” She sits up, glaring at you, trying to hold back laughter. “I- This isn’t fighting you little ahahaha!” A puppy rolls over, wanting a belly rub. Involuntarily, Cherry starts rubbing the little boy on his belly. “Ohoho! You little monster!”

“Do you surrender!?”

She lies back, laughing as the other puppies continue to nuzzle at her neck, lick at her cheeks. “Okay! Okay! I give! Stop it! Stop it!” Although you hesitate, you make the dogs go away. They fade off into green smoke as Cherry recovers, lying on the ground in the fetal position.

“I win then!” You smile, crossing your arms.

She sighs, standing up, her good mood as gone as the wind. “You do. We will leave.”

“But Cherry!” Zox floats up to her, biting at her. “That wasn’t even a fight! What will Atrocitus say!?”

“Shut up, Zox, you’re just an idiot!” She points to another Red Lantern. “You too!” She points to one Red Lantern, who seems to have a bull skull for a head. “And you, I don’t even know you, but you seem like a decent fellow!” He shrugs. “Let’s get out of here!” The Red Lanterns blast off.

The big problem is that it turns into a his world against theirs with it.

We can't just show up with one villain and expect everyone to take his word for it.

You narrow your eyes. “I got better.”

:: Clearly. ::

The other Green Lanterns point their rings at him, ready to fight. “Listen to me,” you say. “We all went against the word of the Guardians to come and fight you here. If you let yourself into our custody, and present your evidence, maybe you can get through to the other Green Lanterns. Maybe we can have the Guardians deposed!”

His eyes look over you, curious. :: You think we will allow you to take us without a fight? You are still more of a puppet to those maniacs than you realize. Our world starved and died underneath their containment. We watched our people eat each other just to survive. And you think we only want to see them deposed? No, we will crack their spines over our knee. We will destroy Oa and watch it burn. The Green Lantern Corps will be no more. We will have revenge. ::

“Listen to yourself. Just-“

You blast him with a pulse of energy. The shot goes right through. He flickers on and off, like a light. What!? How is he- :: Did you think we would allow ourselves to potentially be trapped in a dimension? We have suffered that once before at the hands of the Guardians. We will not suffer it again. ::

> “Where are you!? Reveal yourself!”

we're going to get trapped in here aren't we?

Why does he want them dead?

Forgive me for not being versed in the comics.

"I know, right! It's exactly what I and bunch of other lanterns told to those garden gnomes, but they wouldn't believe me."

Damn, the Guardians are going to try to lock us in here, aren't they?
>>
>>36770230

>>

Doesn't Princess Amethyst have a spell book to teleport between dimensions?
>>
>>36770525

I mean it would be impossible to trap us in here.

> “Fine, run then, coward.”

“Fine then, run!” you shout at him. “Run you coward, and keep running. You can keep pulling these schemes to undermine the Green Lantern Corps, and keep trying to kill us and destroy any hope for justice across the universe, but know that I will stop you. I will do everything to stop you. Even if it takes my life.”

:: Very well then. :: The projection of him disappears, leaving only the throne of Gemworld in his place.

Clarissa walks up to you, narrowing her eyes. “Well, what now then?”

“Legion will never stop,” you say. “He wants his vengeance. We need to take the fight to him. No more defending, no more pussyfooting. Legion must be brought to justice.”

“Alright then.” Clarissa grins. Princess Amethyst, Kilowog, and Salaak walk up beside you. “We got ourselves a giant yellow monster to hunt then. He’s still got Atrocity in his pocket, and the Manhunters are still working for him.”

“But you have allies. Gemworld is forever in your debt,” says Princess Amethyst. “We will do all we can to bring Legion to justice.” And not just her, but behind you are hundreds of Green Lanterns, willing to subvert the Guardians’ word.

To justice then.

Arisia Rabb flies in, Eudora on her back. The both of them look ragged and beaten, but not defeated. “We’re here! Where’s-“ She looks around, and immediately frowns. “Aaww…”

“Did we miss it?” asks Eudora. “Oh, that’s a shame.” She smiles. “How about some tea?”

It is called "Grow Up, Magical Girls!". It is sort of a magical girl thing (duh) where magical girls are regulated by governments and there are conspiracies afoot. There are influences from Madoka (I think, never seen the show or know much about the genre). We just finished chapter 4 yesterday. I hope we can make a reverse of the dark path we set ourselves onto at the end of that.
>>

Nope, Edge Lord Luci is a go.
>>
>>36770992
Personally, I think Luci will get better eventually. She is just having trouble getting over the fact her dad is dead.
>>
>>36770992
No friends, no redemption, just greater denial, delusion and edginess. Man, the playerbase have a lot in common with Luci.
