As the Illustrious approaches Eopolis from the shore, slowly wadding into its protected harbor, you can see the fish taking shelter under its shadow through the bullseye windows on the lower deck.

"Eldric, look!" ~Mako can't help but to shout happily as an octopus slides across the window.

The little princess is fascinated by the sight of the underwater world, looking through the window at the fish as she stands on tiptoes by your side.

The Lady told us that a great conflict was soon to happen, where the errors of the world, manifested as demons, would crawl the land and devastate its peoples.

Since being reborn in this new world of swords and magic, we have done quite a lot to help improve life in the civilized realms of the continent, but it may not be nearly enough when the time comes.

Well, we still have time, right? after all, it's only been 12 years since we were REBORN IN AN RPG.

***Book 2 Start: The Illustious' Saga***

"I have to admit, it is rather interesting" ~says Asmund as he looks at the underwater life
"I am rather worried, but I want to believe all the windows are properly shut all across the ship" ~says Honoria
"I am sure the crew knows what they are doing" ~Okaba seems rather calm as he, too, observes through the window.

As the stone wall of the docks comes into view and the ship stops, we move up to the first deck to descend briefly and walk on dryland for a bit.

Well, most of our friends seem alright staying on the ship, but Zoe wants to go and wait for our cousin's carriage, and greet nana Euphry, if possible.

The crew is quite busy preparing to open the cargo hold and begin unloading some of our dwarven beer into the docks, as well as loading up some of the local products for the trip across the ocean.

"Eldric, is grandpa coming?" ~asks Zoe as she pulls us by the hand towards the docks

Ah, this child really likes grandfather, doesn't she? well, I suppose he may come, if he's not too busy this morning.

We feel something hit us from above, and then bounce down to the floor and roll around before stopping.

A copper coin?

Looking up, we see Lyann in the crow's nest. She is wearing one of her comfier sets of clothes, a long red skirt and a black shirt, complete with a white berett and a small tie.

She is looking down on us with a smile.

"Ah! I wanna go up too!" ~Zoe lets go of our hand and starts heading towards the mast.

>No, no. You are wearing a short skirt and I'm not going to let you give every sailor in the docks a free show, no.
>Climb up after her.
>Let her go and wait for our cousin Alard's carriage.

Sure, lets do that. Just quickly have a small darkness cloud follow her.
>>
>>36720458
just to clarify, I think "climb after her" means "obscure the view with your body" and not "try to take a peek yourself".
>>
>>36720494
obviously

>>36720458
I approve on the basis that it sounds hilarious, but hope we won't mechanically abuse it.

***

We go up after the liongirl, hoping to spot our cousin's carriage from the crow's nest.
Thankfully, the family carriage is large and distinctive, so it's not as impossible as it may be.
As we look up, tho, we almost lose our grip as we notice our baby/older sister isn't wearing anything under her shortskirt.

[Magic, you're so useful] ~thinks eldric as he conjures up a censor bar, the infinitely thin bit of black floating in place properly.

Well, we are under her, so it's not that much of a problem even if someone was to look up, probably.

No, it's still a big problem BECAUSE we are under her, isn't it? well, let's admonish her later.

Zoe climbs with ease ahead of us. Well, she's a cat after all.

"Here" ~Lyann helps Zoe into the crow's nest, and then us
"Thanks"
"Yes, thanks"

It's quite windy up here. Well, we are all wearing our featherfall rings so it's not particularly dangerous, but it would be annoying to fall into the water.

"The city is really as large as I remember it, isn't it?" ~says Lyann as she leans unto the rail.

Her flaming red ponytails float in the wind like banners. Zoe seems to be having fun just looking out into the distance, trying to spot our cousin's carriage.

Actually, her eyesight is pretty good up close and in the dark, but... how good are a cat's eyes when it comes to distances, anyway?

While we are up here, we can also see the activity in the nearby ship's decks.

There is a small fight going on in the ship north of ours, as a kid is kicking and screaming while he's being dragged back under the deck.

>It could be anything. Leave it alone

I guess we may need more contigency items. For reasons.
>>

"What, Eldric!" ~Lyann shouts as we leap off towards the other ship's deck

Just after about three feet of freefall, our ring comes active and we slowly fall towards the fight.
Lyann realizes what's going on, and jumps off after us.

Well, the rings certainly take out the option of a dynamic entry, but the sight of two people floating through the air in their direction successfully stops whatever was going on, all the same.

"what...?" ~one of the sailors just stares in disbelief as we land on the edge of the deck.
"Ah, saved" ~we did almost hit the water

Lyann lands more towards the center of the ship, doing her best to keep her skirt down while the wind disagrees with her.

"What are you doing with that kid!?" ~Eldric exclaims after making sure he's not going to fall into the water
"What? this ain't no kid, this is a stoaway hobbit!" ~says the sailor holding the man(?) by its hands
"I am no stowaway, I just fell asleep inside a crate, and then these here fine people ferried me all the way down from Sbastia, they did!"
"That's called being a stowaway!"
"Help! I am being oppressed by people bigger than me!" ~shouts the hobbit
"Eldric, what should we do? this isin't what we thought it was.. Zoe!" ~as she shouts, we turn around to follow her line of sight

Zoe's legs slide down each side of our head while she goes "weeee!". As soon as she makes contact with us, the featherfall effect ends and she suddenly gains a speed boost and pushes us to the wooden floor, ending up sitting on top of us.

[Thanks the gods the censor bar is still up]

"Zoe, get up please"

The liongirl looks quite comfy sitting on top of us. Well, Lyann helps her off, and the hobbir takes advantage of all this to elbow the sailor on the balls and dart for the edge of the ship's deck.

>Stop him, he IS a stowaway and should answer for it
>Let him go, we're not sending someone to the slaver's block over getting a free ride
>>

I am curious on how grandpa and nana will react to the fact we basically tamed a dragon from a dungeon and have helped establish honey faes as a race now.

Get the full story, likely just a generic stow away.

We still got those truth items?

>>
>>36720957
>Stop him, he IS a stowaway and should answer for it
Wait, he came from Sbastia?
I have questions to ask him, about the current state of the nation and his occupation.

And we should be more careful about barging into situations we don't have information on; for all we know the hobbit could be a murderer trying to escape justice by stowing away.
>>
>>36721056

He might really be from the Lake Confederation, too.
>>
>>36721071
>And we should be more careful about barging into situations we don't have information on
Bullshit, we did nothing wrong by asking questions.
Now, if we had jumped in and started blasting the sailors with deadly magic? that would be bad. But that isn't what we did.

>for all we know the hobbit could be a murderer trying to escape justice by stowing away.
for all we know every random person on the street is. your point?
he could have just bought a ticket legitimately to escape, they clearly did not recognize him as being a wanted man, just as a stowaway
>>
>>36721092
>people lie
no fucking shit, its almost like the post you replied to makes it perfectly clear that he lied and was clearly a stowaway.
>>
>>36720957
apologize for thinking he was a child then leave its really none of our problem.
>>
>>36721092
>and its not that we cant let him go afterwords if its the truth
Actually, we CAN'T let him go afterwards. because he committed a crime. actually catching him and then releasing him would be aiding and abetting a criminal, making us guilty of the same.
>>
>>36720989
>>36720979
>Stop him

>>36720988
>Let him go

We see the tiny man jump overboard and into the water.
Yeah, we're not following after him.

Well, the sailors of the merchant ship are understandably upset, but after paying them a gold coin for that man's fare, they decide to let it go.

Well, we descend into the docks, and Zoe takes off after Alard's carriage when it passes us, going towards the Illustious. This girl is full of energy, really.

"Well, you thought it was a child, so, well done" ~says Lyann as she takes Eldric's hand
"Yeah... well, let's go greet Alard"

As it turns out, cousin alard has grown quite a bit in the year we haven't seen him. His Lightbringer genes were just waiting for him to start moving around, weren't they?

He's now a couple of inches taller than we are, broad at the shoulders, and looks like he could star in a summer action movie.

Zoe is being hugged and lifted by nana Euphrosyne, while Alard notices us and walks over to greet us each with a hug.

"Eldric, what the... you are almost as tall as I am! here I thought I would surprise you"
"You did surprise me, trust me."
"Lyann, you are even prettier than the last time I saw you." ~he greets her politely and kisses her cheeks with a light, chaste kiss on each.

Lyann does a curtsey bow, holding her skirt briefly.

Well, Alard has been doing dungeons pretty much every few days since we last meet him. He's gathered a party of close friends of his own, and can't wait to tell us about them.

We will invent it soon, don't you worry. I hope magic helps make it easy to get out of hair. Now that we got airships, imagine the horror of spent gum raining from the skies as sailors spit the now flavorless goo off the sides.
>>
>>36721246
No, that isn't the issue at all as I have CLEARLY STATED multiple times.
The issue is that you think we are judge, jury, and executioner. We are, in fact, not.
If we capture someone as he is fleeing the scene of a crime, he will then be subject to the actual law, not our own personal judgement. if we just release him afterwards, we ourselves would get in trouble with the law.

Sadly, our uncle and grandfather couldn't make it, but they sent their best wishes. Well, they're both ridiculously busy people, after all.

As Alard informs us, grandfather has begun talking to the nobles in order to have the laws amended. Inspired by us, he is pushing to have the "public slavery system" corrected, so that more perople are sentenced to public work for a limited time, rather than being sold off to private individuals, children are never sold to private individuals, and more orphanages are erected to keep them off the streets and safe from falling into a life of crime.

As popular as he is, when he started talking about spending the city's money, he made himself a few enemies among the city councilors.

"Well, he'll probably end up building the orphanages himself, if need be" ~says Alard as we help him carry his baggage into the ship

Ah, he still doesn't has an item box, I guess.
Yeah, he has pockets, we notice with a smile.

Well, once Alard is settled down on his room, Stella greets him and helps him unpack while the Illustrious gets ready to depart.

We say goodbye to nana and send greetings to grandfather and uncle Wolfric.

Nana gave us a large package of Eopolitan candies, a larger, tight hug, and a smooch before flying off the ship.

The Illustrious slowly makes its way off the docks, then begins rising off the waters and into the skies.

We go over to the command deck, since the captain wants to confirm our route.

I suppose I should have been more specific. Trade prevents wars between trading partners. Facilitates alliances for wars as well now that I think about it. So it can serve to cause wars between blocs of traders if they are more intent on hostile takeovers instead of negotiation.

Still, more trade is never a bad thing. Gets people talking, sharing ideas, ect. Civilization in general benefits from it, even if it may have some negative side effects. Nothing's perfect after all.

***

We begin heading southwest towards the Jade islands. The two easternmost islands are under Eopolitan control, and are one of the main nerves for our mechant navy.

The city of Al' Mohada is an sleepy, old imperial settlement that grew into bustling merchant city over the last two hundred years, with ships coming from the north, west and south on their routes to wherever it is they are going.

The islands themselves are a collection of territory "owned" by nomad tribes that make their lives from island to island, following schools of fish and the seasons as the fruit trees on the islands grow heavy with food.

The nomads do not claim to "own" the islands, nor do they practice any form of agriculture, which is one of the main arguments the Al'Mohada "nobles" wield when crying for expanding into the islands.

The nomads themselves fish and dive for exotic materials, pearls, underwater ruins, and other interesting materials which cannot be found on the surface any more.

Some say that they add to their supplies through piracy, but while a few ships do dissapear from time to time, noone has been able to find any evidence to blame the nomads.

“How long until the next town?” ~asks Honoria while pushing a chair so she can climb on it to peek out the window to the land below.

Well, at least she's not asking if we are there yet.

“It should be about three days, I think. Next stop is Al'Mohada. It's a trading post in the easternmost Jade islands” ~says Lyann as she steals one of the candy bars nana packed for us, and hands one each to Stella, Zoe, Aura and Dawn
“Mah candie bars...” ~sigh~ “You heard of it?” ~we ask Lyann as we take the remains of the bag from her
“You should have, too. They protested a lot about the skyships because they are afraid they won't need to stop in their docks, and will cost them tax money and business.”
“Not much they can really do about it. The coalition needed them to secure a win, and now that they are already here, we're not just going to disarm them and pretend they never happened” ~says Asmund while stealing a bite from Dawn's candy bar

What kind of vampire is he, anyway? He seems fine under the sunlight, but thanks the gods, doesn't sparkle.

“They don't really produce much. Only the two easternmost islands have been developed in any way, and only with fruit plantations. The local nomads probably have more to offer, with their coral carvings, pearls, and the ancient artifacts that they recover from underwater ruins.” ~finishes Lyann with a smile, happy to find a use for all her studying

They need sugar cane plantations. More valuable then fruit, lighter too. No processing needed, chop grown cane, get sugar. Herbalists do it best.

Can use it to make rum too.

"We will probably have to stay for a few days while I establish some trading partners for our stuff."
"The beer should sell fast" ~says Honoria
"Of course, but I also want to show them the rest of our stuff, you know? Well, we should also take the chance to check the local markets and, sure, the nomads while we're at it."

We gently slap Lyann's hand as she tries to steal some more candies from us, and she tacklehugs us so that Zoe and Stella can ravish our poor candy bag.

"H-hey! those are mine!"
"Ours now!" ~they laugh happily and do a tiny happy dance

Well, it's fine, they're all cute, so it's fine

"Oh, they're a tropical island, right? we could also go to the beach"
"Beach!" ~most of the girls cry out happily.

Dawn doesn't gets it, but then again, she wasn't with us the last time we went to the beach, and most people on this world don't have a culture of swimming for fun.

Can Asmund go to the beach?

Anyway, we finish dinner and go back to our cabin to lie down on bed and try not to look out the window. It is nice that the skyships have no fallible mechanical parts, but a plane is a plane so if possible, we would like to sleep the whole trip.

*knock lnock*
"Eldric, can I come in?" ~asks Stella from the other side of the door
"Stella? you know you can't sleep on my bed any more"
"B-but flying is scary... can I stay with you if I sleep on the floor?"

>You are a big girl, Stella. Go back to your room

Yes. Although planations are safer. I wonder if there is a respawn time on dungeons, or does each group get its own trash.

Also it costs a small fortune to change dungeons so that a specific mob spawns, just not mob type.

random monsters spawn topside too though. remember when we went to the beach and had to fight murderous fish and crabs that were level 10+?
or the woodcutters in dwarftown being killed by a magic tree?

that being said, it is relatively safer than a dungeon... except that a dungeon is very predictable (same monsters on each level) so while you face more monsters there, they are all well known, expected, and low level

"Stella, why aren't you wearing your pajamas?"

The delicious brown girl is wearing a long shirt, and that seems to be it. Her shapely everything is rather obvious under the silk garment.

"I like sleeping in a shirt"
"Yeah, my fault"

She comes in, and casually lands her bottom on the wooden floor, her legs bent so her feet are at either side of her while she wags her tail, obviously expecting some pampering.

"You know you can't climb unto the bed, right?"
"Right"

Well, we're not going to sleep on the bed and have her sleep on the floor, are we?

***A few minutes later***

"Well, there's noone here now" ~we say while peeking into the room

Stella is standing on the balls of her feet, shifting her weight from a leg to the other as she hugs her Eldric plushie (White knight version, complete with a tiny plushie sword). She quietly points at the closet, and with a sign, we draw out our sword and open the closert

"You know, sneaking into girl's rooms in the middle of the night? not cool, sir" ~we aim at his face with the sword
"Ah, hello young sir. Fancy meeting you here"
"Stella, it's just a person, it's not a magical ghost or something."
"But he's a stranger! mom said..."
"Ah... I guess you're right. Can you go call Lyann and have her loan you some clothes?"

We are not going to have Stella dress up in front of this guy.

"Alright"
"So, why this ship, now?"
"Well, I just like to travel, you see? and this was by far the fanciest ship in the docks. Your pantry is really well supplied, too"

As it turns out, the man is called Rojo Earrington, and its a self-titled traveling performer, adventurer and friend of the good life. He really didin't intend to do anything to Stella, he just didin't expect whoever inhabited the cabin to have such a keen nose.

"Just throw him off the ship" ~says Asmund. He is still wearing his full uniform... don't you sleep, bro?
"I agree with the count. There's no way he wouldn't notice it was a young lady's room." ~adds Okaba
"Wait, this is the first stowaway to ever be caught in one of these ships, right?" ~Honoria says while scratching the back of her head~ "Shouldn't we set a example with this guy?"
"Well, hold on. It is true that sneaking uninvited into a young lady's room is inappropriate no matter how you look at it, but we shouldn't let that taint our mind. It would have been wrong to sneak into anyone's room, and we should deal with it on that basis." ~says Alard~ "Let him sit in the brig until Al'Mohada and then let the port authorities deal with him"
"they'll just make him into a slave" ~says Lyann~ "I'm not going to do that, to anyone. If it was me, I'd rather be flogged or thrown out of the ship"
"Well, he's offering to work. It's not like he can avoid Stella and Brass' noses"
"I am not happy" ~says Brass~ "I left Stella with you because it was obviously better for her to live with a family than with an unrelated man, like myself. I don't like the idea of this guy sneaking near her and not getting at least his butt kicked"

>Alright, Brass, kick him around a bit, then we can make him work after healing him
>I'm not in favor of corporal punishment. He can just work his debt off

"It is a good thing healing can regrow teeth" ~we say to Rojo while healing him

"Uuugh..." ~this one battered hobbit, but we can't really say he didin't deserve it.

"Alright, you'll be working with the crew, understood?"
"A-aye aye" ~says Rojo
"So, you say you can play music, right? what else?"
"Ah, I'm fairly decent with a saber, and can also tell my right from my left in pretty much every eastern dock and port town"
"In that case, what can you tell me about Al'Mohada? I'd like to save some time on finding the merchant lords"
"Ah, it depends on what you want to buy or sell, but..."

Rojo gives us a few names, and addresses to go with them. Well, it should save us a while

Well, let's hope we don't regret letting him loose in the ship, tho with Brass breathing down his neck, I doubt he would try even try getting near the girls.

Having solved this little mess, we go over to the top deck.

"E~ldr~c" ~Lyann calls us over from... above?

Oh fuck she's in the crow's nest again? it's bad enough when the ship is on the water, how can you get up there a mile above ground!?

"..." ~we climb up´to her

"Lyann, what are you doing up here?"
"It's a nice spot."
"It is?" ~looking down after she helps us up, we can see the clouds passing under the ship, and the ship as a small thing we could cover with our hands, and the ground a stupidly far distance away~ "Oh God"
"Eldric, are you scared of height?"
"I think it's a perfectly normal thing to be scared of"

"Oh Eldric" ~she holds our hand between hers, and stands on her tiptoes to try and kiss us on the cheek~ "You are too tall, lean over a little bit?"

She smooches Eldric's cheet and smiles

"You didin't had to climb if you don't like heights"
"But you were here, and you, I like"

Oh, now she's looking all happy and embarrassed

"Alright, let's go down, then. Do you need any help?"

"Ah, I think I'm a little afraid of stairs, tho. Could you protect me while we go down this one?" ~she says, fooling absolutely nobody. But it's nice that she tried
"Have I told you that I love you, recently? because I do"

We pick her up with an arm and hop down, sliding to the deck with a hand on the stair's side, while looking at her so we don't have the mind to worry about the height.

"E-Eldric!" ~she looks cute when she's blushing like that

Ah, our knees are shaking... the truth is, that was pretty scary. But she just stays with us and keeps holding our hand until we can walk again, and helps us walk back to our room.

That night, during dinner, Stella and Zoe both ask us to do the stair-sliding thing with them...

The little princess very carefully climbs down from the chair, and smooths down her clothes before doing a little curtsy towards us.

She's standing in front of us.
Well... she's tiny.

It is interesting that both Stella and Zoe have the bodies of 15 year old bombshells but are still running around kinda like a pre-puberty 10 or 12 year old. Guess mental maturity is slower then physocal, atleast when not dumped into the worst situations. They have had it easy, other then leveling.

I think its normal given that they live with a nice family, they are taken care of, loved, and sliiightly overprotected against the advances of guys.

So they are smart and whatnot, but still very innocent. I wonder if that makes sense for anyone else but me?

Hell, I was a very innocent youngman right up to my first time, you know? I didin't even got my classmates innuendos up till when I was like 16, so yes, you can be a smart person, and still be innocent. And i think it's a wonderful thing that the girls are smart and strong, but innocent. If there was a santa claus tradition in this world, they would still believe.

Ah, she's not saying thankyou because of saying yes just now, is she? This is about taking her to see her sister.

"Mako, what is your sister's name?" ~yes, we actually hadn't asked her
"Ren"

We nod, and stand up.

"I will be happy to escort you through the market tomorrow, princess" ~says Eldric as he bows politely

The next day, we arrive at Al~Mohada somewhen during the night, late enough for it to be early, so we throw down the anchor in the docks and wait until morning to disembark.

"Alright, before we go down to town, let's everyone party up so we can't get lost, alright? we have 12 people so let's make 2 parties."

Even tho we are not going to all go around together, this way we can still find eachother if need be.

So, we party with Mako, Lyann, Ami, Mai and Honoria. Brass, Python, Okaba, Aura, Asmund and Dawn are in their own party as well.

We are going with Mako (and probably Ami and Mai, even if we don't see them) to browse the market to get a gift to present to Ren when we finally meet her.

Why not both?

A nice portrait of Mako would likely mean a bit to Ren, who likely has been missing Mako and having less freedom and truly warm interactions then Mako has had the last few years.

Custom and rare food and items would be nice too.

As soon as we finish descending from the ship, walking the plank to the docks, Stella and Zoe try to run off after us, planning to have a lot of fun and drag us around to have fun and eat stuff with us... and then Lyann grabs them and signals us to go.

Isn't she great? well, we start walking with Mako, and even tho we are just a year apart, it just looks sort of wrong when we see our reflection on a water pool in the docks... we're just so big, and she's so tiny and cute, you know?

Well, either way, she looks happy, and doesn't seems to mind, at all.

The docks here are nowhere nearly as neat as the Eopolis docks. Even tho Al'Mohada is part of the coalition and technically an eopolitan dock... this place looks dangerous, you know? like, it's full of rough guys.

Well, I'm sure Lyann is going to take care of Stella and Zoe, but I can take a wild guess... some rough guys are going to lose teeth in the near future, you know?

Well, Mako doesn't seems to mind. This little princess is pretty brave for a tiny 11 years old, isin't she? is it because we are with her, because of the shadows, or is she really this confident now?

It's such a big difference from when we met her, isn't it? she could barely whisper out a word back then.

As soon as the docks end, however, the change in the atmosphere is amazing. It's instantaneous. The market district is so clean and immaculate. The foors are covered with tiny white and grey mosaics, and you can barely see any dirt on it.

The shop stands are clean and orderly, with the goods displayed neatly under actual crystal cases.

There are city guards walking about in eopolitan uniforms... it's rather surprising. It really feels like we are back there, and grandpa could come out from around a corner at any time.

Well, the markets have several floors. I guess this is what a mall would have been in ancient rome?

Somehow I find the idea of someone hitting on them kinda funny. Lyann would decline politely. If they kept it up she would end up looking at them like they did not exist. If they tried to grab her she might snap their arm/wrist like a twig, or crush it into a fine paste.

Zoe and Stella would look at them like they completely missed the point

Mako stands on her tiptoes to look over the edge of a store's window at the goods inside.

There's local crafts inside, and no I don't mean ships. I am talking about sculptures made out of coral, pottery and small and colorful jewelry.

Actually, the sculptures are really well made. Does the artisan makes each by hand, or does he use a craftsmanship skill? because if it takes him a few seconds, we would definitively like to ask him for a Mako sculpture as a gift to Ren.

And we're keeping one, too, to remember this in the future, of course.

Wait... wasn't coral endangered back home...? is this made from a drop, or is this actually ripped off living growing coral in the sea's bottom?

"Sir? do you make these yourself?" ~we ask the clerk
"No, I just sell them. Are you looking for anything special... oh, your friend's hair looks amazing. Which dye does she use?"

Right, people on this world other than the western royal family simply don't have black hair, right? but nobles around the world like to pretend they are somewhat related, so they dye it black with ash and other such stuff... there may be a market there.

It was so common in our previous life, we just sort of forgot after hanging out with Mako so much.

"..." ~Mako says something. I guess she's still bad with total strangers, after all
"Please sell me that mirror" ~we buy a souvenir for Lyann and change the topic in a single go~ "Oh, and could you tell me where to find whoever makes the sculptures, please?"

We get the clerk's directions. If we leave the market district and follow the shore, we will find plenty of craftsmen by the sea road.

"Eldric, wait, wait, can we get some of those red flowers over there? and some seeds, too!" ~says Miel II from inside our crown

In case you were wondering, no, other people can't hear her.

We buy flowers and inquire about them. Yes, they are local, so we pay a few coins to the shop lady, and she agrees to bring a small flower pot with buds for us tomorrow.

There's a lot of musicians playing outside the open air cafés, aren't there?

Ah, they're just wandering around, trying to get tips from the people in the cafés. I guess you can find their type anywhere. At least they're pretty good.

The sea road splits the beach from the town. A white and grey stone mosaic road with sand here and there, you can enjoy a walk with more than enough room for carriages to circulate without bothering the pedestrians.

Most craftsmen sit in the sand with their goods on a blanket. These guys are mostly nomads, right? there's dophin-headed demihumans, elves, humans and people with small horns and lamb ears growing on them. I don't know which beastmen tribe they're from, but let's just call them ram-eared, because calling them horny is just sort of mean.

Come think of it, Ellie said she was a nomad from a sea tribe, right? so, one of these? we should probably buy her something as well. Some clothes... no, she can't really wear these back home, can she? let's get her some pearl jewelry.

That's right, she said her people didn't had anything against earrings, right? the elves here obviously don't. Let's get her some earrings, then.

Uhmm... should it be magically enhanced... no, wait, let's just look for something with high quality. We can enchant it ourselves later if we want to, after all.

Thus, we buy her a pair of pretty, [exceptional] quality pearl earrings with a little white shell. She can wear them with the shells covering the pearls, or the other way around, so the shells display the pearls, if she wants to.

"Ah!" ~Mako lets out a little cry as she spots someone selling the coral figures we were looking for

Unfortunately, the nomad explains that he could make a copy of any sculpture he already made in a few seconds, but a new one would take him time.

"Well, we're not going to stay here for long enough, probably? at most a week." ~Eldric says with a sigh
"Oh, that may just be enough, depending on the model."
"Could you make one of her?" ~Mako blushes a little and looks down
"Surely... yes, it would take a few days, but it would be done in less than a week, depending on size"
"How large can you make it within that time?"
"About 2 apples tall?"
"That will do. How much would that be?"
"Uhmm... 2 golds, I think. But you need to come by everyday so I can use the young lady as a model"
"No, no. I'm sorry, but we can't do that. Could you come to our ship instead?"
"If I can't also sell my goods, it will be more, you understand? about 10 gold coins, maybe"
"That's fine. Let me pay you two right now so you can see I'm serious about it."
"Oh? alright, then"

We tell him to look for the Radiant Ember in the docks, and bid him farwell for today.

Well, that leaves us plenty of time free.

>tell me we brought a merchant to do this for us right?
I honestly assumed Lyann had the merchant passive. Hell, don't we?

***
Well... it should be something nice, but not too high class because honestly this is a nice tropical island, with white beaches and a warm sea and tropical flora... it would just be awful to lock ourselves into a restaurant the likes of which we could go to in any large city.

Thus, we go and check the local fast food.

Yeah, rather than taking the 11 years old girl to a luxury restaurant, we're buying fish sticks and dipping them in mustard as we sit on the tetrapods by the sea, throwing little bits of food to the crabs and fish under us.

When she's 15 or older, and on every anniversary of our wedding afterward and forever (it'll happen, right? we are marrying this adorable princess someday), we'll take her to a super luxurious restaurant and treat her like the imperial princess that she is. But right now it's all about having fun and making happy memories, so we are going to have fish sticks with mustards and throw bits of it at the little fish under the tetrapods.

Unless she wants to do this very same thing, because in that case this is what we'll be doing.

*cough* Anyway...

This island looks like it would be an awesome place for a resort, if it wasn't because of "the high level fish and sea beasts randomly appearing anywhere in the sea" thing.

Maybe we could have an area of the beach surrounded with tetrapods to keep the fish out and sort of make a pool? but at that point we may as well just make a pool, I guess.

It will be fine as long as someone in the party has the right passive so we can play in the water and not get attacked, of course, but not everyone has such a convenient thing, so I guess we can't commercialize on that.

"Eldric?" ~she pokes our cheek gently with a finger
"What is it?"
"What are you thinking about?"

Ah, we sort of drifted off tangent there for a bit

We are still holding hands when we make it back to the ship.

Let's end here for tonight. I'll go fry myself some fish sticks and be back for comments and whatnot.

By the way, I have a bunch of trouble planned for the very near future, and some stuff with the local merchant princes trying to bully us and get a better deal, and pirates.

I had hoped to do that today, but it's okay, today was pretty cute so I don't regret it. Just mentioning it because I want you guys to know I do have action in mind for the near future

couldn't we? a resort where there are "life guards" whom you party with to enjoy said passive could potentially work out. It won't be cheap since you would need people with rather specialized skill, but doable.

Gotta make them tamper proof and make them emit a warning on tampering, have someone whose job is to check them for tampering, and have way more than necessary.
all that in order to prevent someone sabotaging us by sabotaging a bouy and letting the carnage ruin our rep

I can see that leading to catastrophe if a buoy ever floats away.

Maybe we could look for a natural pool? there's a small beach right on this town where there is a natural beach protected by rocks during low tide so completely its almost like a cup, and it gets flooded during high tide, then the water slowly empties through the cracks in the rocks.

It's pretty much considered a great place for children to learn to swim since you literally cannot be dragged by currents, as there are none

Of course, it has the same problems as any pool where children play for hours.

Yes I meant the pee being more than the water inside. But at least the water gets cycled out every 8 hours or so

I really think terapods making a wall around the beach is the best way, or maybe finding a tiny cape and just dropping tetrapods on the water's entrance so that water can freely flow in and out, but large fish cant
>>
>>36729290
I love how soft that girl looks. I know the hair color is wrong and all that, and I dont like the feet... but I really love just how "soft" she looks, you know? I really think that's what an older Mako would be like.

She would just be obviously beautiful, but obviously SOFT above all things. Yes she's now a monk and she can punch dragons into submission and what not. Doesn't change my mind one bit

And why am I having to type my name/tripcode over and over now?
>>
>>36729290
>I can see that leading to catastrophe if a buoy ever floats away.
Hence the "way more bouys" than needed plan and regular checkups.

>Inland pool
doable. and actually, cordoning off a part of the beach and turning into a "pool" of sorts won't be a bad thing because people would be coming in for the beach resort. the sand, the atmosphere, the weather, the trees, etc.
Although I can definitely see the appeal in playing in the water.

>Yes I meant the pee being more than the water inside. But at least the water gets cycled out every 8 hours or so

I find that kinda funny, some would be merchant prince trying to bully us.

I just see in a small 'room' Atruma getting tired of the wind bag, materialize out of the sword, look at the merchant prince like he is a spec of dust and shape shift back to her normal dragon form, before snorting once in his direction and going back into the sword.
