>Introduction & Summary:

You are "Blue Mary" Ryan, the best damn Freelancer in all of Southtown and a woman that's worked with everybody from hired thugs and gangsters to the United States Secret Service. Tonight, you're in the heart of the Shinjuku district of Tokyo, Japan tracking the movements of Bizuki Iijima, "Personal Assistant" to one of the wealthiest men in the world and a woman that could be the key in unraveling one of the largest conspiracies you and the agency you're currently working for have ever dared to uncover, with the venerable "King of Fighter's" tournament being the catalyst of it all... There is also a fairly personal urge- No, a NEED to pay back what this bitch with freaky-ass powers did to you the last time the two of you tangled together, but you don't linger on that just yet; Instead, you observe her from a safe distance, even though you can guess that she already knows that you've been following her...

All of this subterfuge points to the fact that this is a bigger job than it sounds. Big enough, in fact, that you went to the trouble of hiring some extra "Helping Hands" outside of "The Agency" for this. It was mostly out of need to have back-up in case your boss (Alias "Seth") didn't OK others to join you (Which was looking likely until about a day before you had to leave for Japan), but it also was on the advice of an expert in the occult that was a friend of a friend of your grandfather (And hooked you up with the services of someone named "Karasu"). Your fellow agents (Aliases "Ramon" & "Vanessa", respectively) have uncovered some interesting stuff while posing as cab-drivers and construction workers as well, but none of it seems to pertain to the girl trying to pass her 5-foot-nothing frame off as a boy's, hands in the pockets of her gakuran while she looks around like she's waiting for a cab or a bus or something on the other side of the street...
>>
>>36664948
You can probably refer to Vanessa, Seth and Ramon as "Commander Ling's Agents," even though Ling died during the NESTS saga.

Either way, good to see this back.

>>36664948

That's when you scan your eyes for your fellow freelancers on this gig and see... That they're right behind you? "Shit, when did they get here?" you ponder within yourself while eyeing Bizuki at the traffic light as the signals change, a mass of people that you had blended in with crossing the streets.

To your left is a, well, frankly odd-dressed woman with legs for days, tan skin and Silver hair... And if you didn't know better, you'd almost guess that she was one of "The Wildcard Team's" members in a disguise that, actually, covered more than her usual "Outfit". You also know from meeting her that this woman is codenamed "Karasu", a real-deal Ninja that also claims to hunt demons in her off-time. Considering that your target has floated off of the ground and lead you to believe that she blew your head off with only the touch of her finger, you hired her on the spot.

To your right is a tall, strong-looking man in a grey suit holding a briefcase. Nationality? Who's to say; From some angles he's Slavic or Russian, with hard lines across his face that help him exude an old-school machismo you just don't see much anymore. At other angles, he appears to be a young Sean Connery reincarnated as a Japanese "Salary-Man", though surrounded by tourists at this busy intersection he seems wholly unremarkable... Except that there's a certain, intangible feeling that he's the second of your "Hands" for tonight; A legendary Sniper nicknamed "The Duke" due to his merciless attitude (Most of the time), incredibly quiet manner (Most of the time) and utmost professionalism. So much so, in fact, that he initially balked at taking this job on account that his primary skills are in assassinations (Telling you "Madam, above all things I am a professional. You're asking me to do an amateur's work" over the phone)... Funny how $50,000 you had fleeced off of some drug dealer can change someone's mind.
>>
>>36665159
Since "karasu" means "crow," Mary should habitually refer to our ninja as Crow.
>>
>>36665272

Oh, she will. Also, stay on Name & Tripcode!

>>36665159

You try to keep track of Bizuki through the throngs of people all around you, though it's fairly difficult considering how small she is... Furthermore, Karasu & the Duke have split off from you, the Ninja hiding in plain sight going off to the right while the sniper heads to the left. Furthermore, Bizuki's heading towards where your third "Hand" is currently staked out as the bell-hop to a hotel that, coincidentally, friends of yours are staying at right now...

>Updates Officially begin

You break off from the crowd that had been part of the spectators from that "King of Fighter's: Infinite Match" fight about an hour ago and follow Karasu across the street, the two of you tailing Bizuki as she casually walks north.

Karasu glances over her shoulder for an instant and flashes the briefest hint of recognition before the tow of you work your way through the crowd, both of you trying to blend in (Which might not work, because the one-legged jeans "Crow's" wearing are attracting a good amount of stares).

"Where's the other guy?" she asks you in Japanese.

"Probably behind us" you quietly tell her, trying to hid your voice as you add "From what I heard, he's not comfortable with people following him."

"Ah... I went through that phase too" she admits, then asks you "Hey, have you heard from Mai-Chan?"

"Not for a while, why?" you answer.

"Just curious. She owes me a rematch" Karasu says with a faintly mischievous smile.

"She's in... Germany, I think?" you idly say. "Her next fight is at some huge old castle in the middle of nowhere."

"Huh... Who's teamed up with?" she asks as the two of you stop at another crosswalk, cars now starting to make their way through the usually closed-off streets (Well, on weekends at least).

"A couple of wrestlers" you briefly tell her before making a "Ready when you are" gesture, the two of you close enough to Bizuki that you can feel her demonic aura.

Also, use C and let Crow take the lead. She's probably better versed in demonology than Mary.

Knowing Crow, she and her clan would have been keeping track of Bizuki for a while and followed her movements and flares of power, even in Southtown. She would know Bizuki made a pact, and that's where the majority of her power would come from. The key is to catch Bizuki and the demon unaware and seal her before she gets her bearings and retaliates. Crow should sneak on her (making sure her spirit doesn't alert Bizuki), then slap her with a couple seals and senbon to cut off her power. THEN you can choke her out/incapacitate her safely, before figuring out what to do with her from there.

tl;dr - demon sealing 101: lock the demonic power down before trying to bring down Bizuki herself.

You can sense that Crow, a woman who's supposed to be well-versed on dealing with this kind of thing, can feel the pure malevolent energy that's residing in this girl (Woman? Japanese girls never seem to age to you and this one is no exception to that rule)... So you're taken back a little when she decides to keep trailing Bizuki, though she moves her arm closest to yours and scratches her pants pocket before sliding it in.

"Probably where she keeps whatever she uses to draw this shit out" you ponder to yourself as she continues to chatter away like a schoolgirl about whatever might cross her mind, again reminding you of one of the "Other" parts of your investigation of "The Paragon Group" and it's thinly-veiled "Wildcard Team" ("Angel", the files your agency had named?)...

"I'dunno, I feel like I need a break and just travel the world for like a year or something, you know?" she asks.

You shrug, then say "Yeah, but you need a lot of money to make that happen" with a hint of listlessness while eyeing Bizuki walk across the street, her body looking more and more like it's being forced along by an unseen force (Or something).

That's when she stops at a street lamp pole and leans against it, clutching her head while the two of you walk past her. Thank god you're wearing a black "Hime-Cut" wig and are in some fairly "Girly" clothes today, because Bizuki might've recognized you if you weren't. As it stands, she's out of it enough that Crow grabs a couple of odd-looking slips of paper and dashes back towards her, slamming one of them right onto her forehead.

You rush in after her and see that Crow's fighting with some kind of faintly invisible... Thing that almost hits you with a huge, muscled arm. Fortunately, you give whatever the hell that was a swift spinning kick as "Crow" knocks Bizuki down some kind of side-street alleyway as you can kind of get a good look at what the two of you might be up against...

And it's not exactly pretty.

Bizuki herself is struggling to get up after that roundhouse kick to the stomach, but whatever's inside of her's casting a long, long silhouette underneath the glare from street lamps and a few dive bars the size of your apartment; It's an honest-to-god monster alright, but it looks more like it's frightened at whatever Crow's doing... Speaking of which, how the hell did she learn how to speak in tongues? You barely dodge a lunging jab and feel your cheap-ass dress get a rip through it's back, the cut shallow enough that you don't even feel it at first. Crow, on the other hand, is jumping across the narrow walls like a friggin' pinball and lands another slip on what you assume is the beast's head.

"Little help here!?" she asks as the beast makes a roar that sounds like what all the people who believed that spinning vinyl records backwards could invoke a demonic ritual WISHED would make as it's

"Like fucking what?" you fire back with another jab nearly tearing what's left of your disguise clean off of your body, his large size a hindrance in these tight quarters.

"I don't know!?" Crow replies as she throws up a bunch of paper slips that acts like a solid wall to the ethereal beast...

Using that moment of opportunity, you run towards Bizuki and slide into her foot-first, grabbing and twisting her left leg into a "Single-Legged Boston Crab" as she winces in pain and Crow starts throwing out slips of paper again, an almost endless stream of them flowing from her hands to block some of this demon-ghosts strikes... Well, until she pulls a few of them back and you transition to a choke-hold on Bizuki, all of those years spent as a kid learning the ins and outs of Judo & Aikido paying for itself right now.

Crow's obviously preparing something big as you try to get the squeeze in on Bizuki, her head looking tiny when up close and next to your bulging bicep. "That's it! Keep it up" Crow says as she then starts speaking in tongues again and you pray that Bizuki passes out soon, because she's actually got a lot of tolerance for pain... Or is it the demon's doing?

Whatever the case, you can feel that thing try to swat you over Bizuki like a Bear check on whether somebody's "Playing Dead", each swipe feeling worse and worse as Bizuki lets out a sigh that's oddly... Pleasurable to your ears? Well, par for the course on that one; This chick's damn freaky and has one hell of a libido, if the files you had started to create were any indication as you flip her onto her back and make a "Frog"-like hold that almost completely covers her body, smothering it practically.

"Return from whence you came!" Crow shouts in some stiff, overly-formal Japanese as you keep the pressure up and feel Bizuki pass out, The demon's hand feeling like a slap to your side as Crow fires off a big blast of Ki at the damned thing. It's a scene straight out of some cheap "Ghost Chasers" knock-off (Maybe the 4th Movie? That one was actually a re-boot set in Japan) as the foul demon interacts with the blast of Ki and the slips of paper swirling around it like a tornado before a bright flash of light blinds your eyes. as you keep your head down and shut them...

So now the demon is pacified and sealed for now. Crow will need to add some additional restraints of her clan's design if the agents intend to restrain her for any period of time. The demon is quelled, but not removed. If the agents want to ultimately break the pact and sever Bizuki's connection with the demon, that'll require much more preparation and assistance from other hunters. It's the agents' call where to go from here.

Either way, it's another successful hunt in the books.

When you feel like you can open your eyes and not get dizzy, you can see a statue about the size of a chess piece in front of you, almost like it was made of obsidian under the yellow glow of the street lamp. "Oh that fuck that's over with" you say with an exhale, then flop off of Bizuki and feel the front of your dress and your bra burst open. You blush and cover yourself up as you examine Bizuki's body and check her vitals. Ever the pervert, she must've passed out with her teeth clenched on your clothes...

"Wow" is all Crow can say, and even then she puts her hand over her mouth in shock (Confirming that she's Japanese alright, because from your files Angel is a girl with almost no shame about this kind of thing).

"Yeah... She's like this" you glumly reply, then try to take a couple of strips of cloth from your ruined dress to tie a knot to keep yourself from spilling out. "Pretty cool thing with the little statue Crow girl."

She smiles at that and admits "It's my clan's specialty. Hell, in the early parts of the Showa period, it was kind of a contest to see what kind of statues you could make from sealing guys like this one off."

You raise an eyebrow at that, but don't say anything as you double-check Bizuki's vitals again just to be sure... And let out a sigh of relief when you feel a pulse, though you might've damaged her windpipe a little from choking her out. A sense of an anti-climatic relief overwhelms you while something in the back of your mind keeps you alert, the shifty-eyed glance that "The Duke" had given you earlier before slinking off to wherever making you second-guess just how much of a "Professional" he really is... Which is when you notice that there's a trickle of blood pooling around one of her sides, a bullet wound from a round that an M16A Assault Rifle could use.

Your eyes widen as you ponder if he had shot her before you and Crrow had started fighting her demonic side, or possibly even during it... But put that aside and ask Crow "Hey, take a look at this."

"Hmm? Oh, that's a nasty wound" she idly says as she starts to examine it alongside you, her ample chest now rather noticeable as she's slipped out of her disguise to reveal the outfit she had on underneath (A one-legged pantsuit with a sportsbra-like top covereing what the suit doesn't). "We should get her to a hospital."

"Will she be OK to take anywhere? I mean, you subdued that demon but" you start to ask before Crow cuts you off.

"I'll need a few minutes to stop this from bleeding out and

"OK... I'll call ahead with my guys then Crow" you tell her, then grab your "Ultra-Super-Secret-Spy Phone" (Which is just a "Jail Broken" iPhone with a few modifications and a black case that was issued to you) and call up a number that you had to burn after reading.

"Hey... I don't know how you did it, but you did an outstanding job. I hope I can use your services again" you tell "The Duke", careful not to mention any details about what kind of "Work" that it might be. You only get ellipses on the other side of the line before he hangs up on you, which could be either very good or very, very bad depending on the circumstances...

Nonetheless, you call up Seth in high spirits and explain that Yes, you and two of your three "Extras" have successfully subdued your target and Yes, we're going to need medics on the scene soon... Which is when you notice that the small statue that Crow had sealed the demon into (Turned into?) starts to vibrate and shake on the ground.

"Can you get a track on my phone and triangulate our current coordinates?" you ask you can see it topple over and try to roll back-and-forth, much like someone in pain.

"Yeah, sure, just hang on and hold up your phone" you hear Seth tell you as crow starts to visibly panic, the strength of her seal maybe not strong enough?

You hold up a steady hand that starts to tremble a little as you can see that there's some kind of chip, or a chunk of the statue that houses the demon missing, then hear Seth confirm it over your phone. "10-4, we'll be on it in Double'O 10."

You press "End" and rush over to Crow's side, asking "What's wrong?"

"It seems to be reacting to the wound in her side" Crows grunts and strains to say while she tries to lay a few hands on it and draw glowing diagrams you can't make out with her fingers on the ground. "And this thing's strength is just unbelievable too..."

"What the hell kind of demon is this thing?" you ask as you crouch down and try to comfort Bizuki's still, but breathing, body with a steady and to her face.

"If what I'm reading is right... Then it has to be either a servant of, or the Dark God of Makai himself" she replies with a grave tone of voice.

"Well shit, sounds like something that could only happen during a KoF Tournament" you jest before adding "Why would it try to use this girl though?"

"She... She's very close in spirit to one of his only hosts, Rasho- Oh, I shouldn't say that" Crow starts to explain, but backs off when the statue starts to glow a little.

"Anything I could do to help you?" you ask, feeling a bit silly just watching crow struggle to contain this beast.
>>
>>36672040

"I don't know... The host body seems to be reacting to whatever you're doing now" Crow says as she seemingly arm-wrestles an invisible hand into submission. "And actually, that previous host wasn't one at all; She was a co-conspirator that rained down all kinds of terror about 600 years ago, I think."

"You THINK?" you ask, incredulous that someone's

"I'don't know I'M FUCKING BUSY HERE DAMN IT!" she yells out in struggle while pinning a huge, invisible body down to the ground while starting to "Draw" on it's form.

"You can't be fucking serious" you mutter as look down at Bizuki, pondering if she really got knocked out at all or if she's letting this go on just so she could get a chance to cop a feel or some shit... "You get off on this, don't you?" you ask her rhetorically as Karasu continues to make headway on subduing this demon.

You glance at Bizuki's face, now more than convinced that she's just faking being knocked out to try and take advantage of somebody strong like yourself taking advantage of her (Which could explain the reports you had gotten that showed she's been fixated on Katja Hartkern, one of Yuri Sakazaki & King's friends) and sigh. When you signed up for this gig all of those years ago, you knew that you had to sacrifice some part of your dignity to get the job done. So did your dad, so did Butch... But did they ever have to do something like this?

"... Fine. Even monsters deserve a little love once in a great while" you mutter before straddling her body and sitting on her face. When the initial wave of discomfort and downright creepiness wears off, you notice that Bizuki doesn't seem to do anything while Crow starts to make some real headway in subduing this demonic force that's controlling her body.

"How're you coming along Crow?" you ask, hoping to god that she can finish soon before your agents arrive.

"Just about done" she says with a chirpy voice, then looks up to see what you're doing and blushes a little, giggling at you for a second.

"Just focus on sealing him up OK?! At least this is actually working..." you tell her with a mean glare as the demon (Now visible enough thanks to the seals drawn on it) starts to whimper in pain as a hissing sound could be heard. After an eternity, he finally gets back into the statue he was transformed into/resides in for now, with Crow giving the statue a kiss and an impossibly cute little band-aid put on the chipped part of it, Bizuki's wound now closing up as well...

You sigh in relief, muttering "The shit I put up with sometimes" before hearing eight words that make you freeze in place.

"Mary... What in the hell are you doing?" Seth asks, Ramon & Vanessa next to him and scratching their heads at what they see before them.

You take a breath to clear your head, then reply "Getting the Job done, Sir" without a hint of irony before getting up off of Bizuki. He takes a look at your lack-of an outfit and the damage done to the walls surrounding you and shrugs, giving you the chance to joke that "Plus, I was trying to get evidence that debunks the statement that 'You never go ass to mouth', sir."

That gets a "Aw, shut up" from him (With a smile) and a chuckle from Vanessa & Crow but hearing Ramon mutter "I didn't like the second Clerks movie as much as the first one" kind of kills the mood and springs everybody to action, Vanessa & Crow picking up Bizuki and laying her up on a stretcher while Ramon wheels them down the alley that they came from, Seth asking you "So... Status Report?"

"Well, I'm still breathing, sir" you tell him, then point to a few cut marks from whatever was slicing at you and admit "That thing got me though, so these need to get patched up."

"O~h shit, who did this?" Seth asks as you follow him to an unmarked white van.

"Well... It's pretty damn complicated sir. Do you want me to try and explain it? Or do you want to hear from who was with me as well?" you answer.

"Both" he says as the two of you get in the back and ride with Crow while Vanessa & Ramon ride up front (Vanessa driving this time after Ramon was a little too "Showy" at the wheel on the way over).

"Well... It seems that this girl is not only a key part of our investigation of The Paragon Group, but is also possessed by a demonic entity" you state as the van starts to drive off.

"Well, break out the holy water huh?" he says, then asks "Seriously, we went through the same occult stuff when Ron and the Hizouku clan were still in the picture..."

"It's true" Crow says, explaining "From what I can tell, this person bound herself to either Ambrosia or became the reincarnation of Mizuki Rashojin through a pact."

"And?" he asks, both of you expecting the worse...
>>
>>36674584

"And from what I have gone through trying to subdue this damn thing tonight, I think it would be best to leave her under our care" Crow plainly states.

"There isn't any kind of way we can just get a few more of your clan under our bill to keep this thing pacified long enough to get back to the States? Because we have quite a bit to ask this little lady" Seth asks, the seriousness of the situation belied by his rather informal tone of voice.

"Well, we could but right now it's merely subdued; There's no telling if and when it'll break free of the seal and take control of her body again" Crow explains.

"It's similar to what the report on what happened to that rookie we've got, I think" you add, thinking again to the report you read on what Bizuki had done to one "The Agency's" newest field agents.

Seth looks at you and nods, then asks "And how exactly did the two of you "Subdue" this thing in the first place?"

"Well, I hired a third operative that acted as a sniper that shot one round into her side here" you explain, revealing the now scarred bullet wound in Bizuki's side, "And that weakened her enough physically that we didn't have to deal too badly, but the spirit kind of took enough of a physical form to attack us."

Seth pauses, looking like he can't quite picture what the hell had happened between the two of you and this woman, but sighs and asks "And when we found you?"

"Don't ask. Please" you say before getting interrupted by Crow offering an almost sane-sounding explanation.

"Well, from what I can gather from how the demon reacted to Mary giving Bizuki signs of affection, it's focused on Lust. It also fits into the lore of Rashojin Mizuki as well, which is why I think that she could be a new host vessel of some kind."

That only gets further blank stares from Seth, which compels you to add "Again, the Mitchell Report sir."

"Right..." Seth says, though you swear you hear him mutter "I'm too old for this shit" under his breath...

Well, the reason she escaped last time is because they lacked proper Boner Demon countermeasures, it's not like Bizuki BUSTA WOLF'd her way outta custody. Karasu's Clan is basically Demon-Handling Central.

It's probably best to send a few operatives to Japan just in case, and Bizuki shouldn't be a problem. Even then, Karasu's boobs should solve things just as well as Mary's butt did today.

Seth takes a long time to think about the situation at hand and a nervous kind of stillness enters the cabin, only broken up by Ramon & Vanessa hitting a traffic jam.

"Sir? If I may offer my opinion on this?" you ask, hoping to at least clear out a few of your own notions about dealing with freaky stuff like this.

"What is it Blue?" he replies as the sound of Ramon cursing in "Spanglish" in the driver's compartment fills the cabin.

"Well... I was thinking that we should have Bizuki stay under the care of Crow's clan" you state.

He puts a gloved hand under his chin and asks "OK, sounds logical. But why?"

You clear your throat and explain that it boils down to "Three reasons: One, while the idea that she'd have three people constantly keeping her in-check and know exactly what to do when things go wrong might be good, but you have to wonder what a whole clan do?"

Seth pauses at this and gives you the chance to lay the second reason without a retort: "Secondly, the reason she even escaped last time is because The Agency lacked the proper countermeasures against her demonic charms. Furthermore, it's not like Bizuki BUSTAH WOLF'd her way out of our custody either; She charmed a couple agents and literally walked out."

Leaving out how Seth was one of those directly involved with her first escape attempt was a smart call as you can see Seth warming up to the idea, but knowing him he's still going to make you fully explain why you'd want to keep this person in japan rather than flying her back to The United States. Sure enough, he does and asks "And Three?"

"Call it a hunch, but I don't think her answers aren't going to change, whether she's in Southtown or not. Plus, if this demon business is treated here in Japan, there's a better chance of things getting sorted out and Bizuki ultimately pacified. Which is why it would be best to do all of that on the hunters' turf" you conclude, pointing to a flattered Crow after saying that last sentence.
>>
>>36675708

Seth mulls it over, then says "If that went down, we'd have to send a few operatives to Japan just in case..."

You nod at that as Seth adds "And I can't think of anybody I could really trust with something like this that's not already on active duty. Plus, what's gonna happen when her lover-boy finds out that she's being kept here under our authorized custody? Because we already know, that he knows, that we wire-tapped your pick for an operative trainee that took him out on a date."

You sigh at that and sink your head in shame, knowing that the blame would fall on your head for that one sooner or later... Which is when tells you "Hey, I'm not against the idea at all; We got our asses handed to us by Ron at first because we approached that whole case from the wrong way right from the start... The thing is, our team would have to drop out of the tournament to get the people I would be comfortable putting on a job like this..."

"Which would be hard to explain to the media that's covering the tournament" you conjecture along with him as the flow of traffic returns after being at nearly a dead stop for a little bit.

"Exactly" Seth says, then admits "And I know that this kind of thing's fun to do for you, Ramon and Vanessa once in a while and it's always hard to pull the plug after a win."

You feel like pointing out that you and your teammates were put under orders to try and draw that fight because it could give you the time needed to even complete this mission, but hold your tongue and simply say "Yeah..."

"You know what? Hell with it; I'll try to pull some strings and get a couple of guys out of cold storage to thaw out on this one" Seth finally says after yet another lengthy pause.

You don't feel like smiling after hearing that (Hell, only being with Terry can make you smile really), but the smirk on your face speaks volumes about your mood... Hell, where's that "Chapman" guy's phone number? You feel like giving all of them rooms for the night.

>Updates Officially Resume

>You now assume Direct Control of Katja Hartkern

>Days Before "The Women's Team's" next fight: 7

>Date: Friday, June 9th

You woke up after having one of the most "Normal" nights of sleep you've experienced in a long while, the sun peeking through thick clouds and cutting swathes of light across your room... And all you can think as you start doing stretches is the awkwardness between Yuri & King over the "Not-You" from that movie last night. Oddly enough, it doesn't seem to bother you; Maybe you're just numb to the idea that there are others like you out there from your dreams and that little nugget of information Mary told you before heading off onto this crazy adventure of a tournament. Maybe it's because no matter what they might look like, none of them could ever hope to be you? Yeah, that's the stuff...

"Hard t'believe I was scared shitless of showin' this off" you think while noticing the new muscle tone on your arms, legs and torso. "Well, 'kay, maybe 'Show Off' is a bit much... Just showin' it, I guess" your inner monologue adds as you really feel yourself out before taking a nice, long hot shower. Toweling yourself off after that refreshing little cleanse, you get a sinking feeling of boredom and a sense of not quite knowing what you want to do on what could be your last day in Japan for a long while... "Such are the highs and lows of this fight life", you heard from someone somewhere (Terry Bogard? He'd know about that side of this better than most).

You think about getting out your lap-top and cheking in on what the press hacks have to say about you and your friend's performance last night, but figure that it can wait and instead get on a pair of "Boy Shorts" and a sports bra from out of your suitcase and start to stretch while putting them on, determined to beat yourself into submission with a short workout before checking in on Yuri & King.

As for why your energy and motivation's so high, well, you can't honestly put your finger on it. Talking with Takuma in the park was something to dwell and meditate on, sure, but maybe it's the fact that you don't have to travel from here on out that might be the biggest thing; All of the fights from now have one location, right in your hometown...

Which is when you pause before starting up a set of "Burpees" and reflect on that thought. Up until now, Southtown was the crazy place that you lived in that had the Dojo you went to; Nothing more, nothing less. Now, with no Dojo to go to and infinitely more people you know and care about, Southtown really does feel like a "Home Town" to you now... You clear your head with a sigh of content, then start your routine, rhythmically transitioning from the low squat to start, the push-up in between before hopping back to the squat again, hoping that you aren't making too much noise on the carpeted floor.

A set of 10, then a "Rest" involving "Planking" for 10 Minutes, then another set of Burpees and before you know it, you can hear somebody knocking on your door...

>A. Towel off, put some more clothes and answer it; It's probably just Yuri or King.

Sweaty Katja makes me think. What are the exact properties of Katja's electrical ki? Like would we be electrocuting ourselves if we use it when sweaty or wearing tin foil or something? Can we be super lazy and use SHO-MEI-O to dry ourselves off with focused electrical shocks?

Benimaru uses his static to keep his hair 3 feet into the air, we might be able to figure a mundane use for our ki. Also, Yuri's ki barrier was a thing. We should mess around with our spiritual abilities, instead of just our physical hugeness. Though I guess we're doing fine coming up with and using special moves during fights.
>>
>>36684397

Well, I read somewhere that use of static electricity could stimulate the nerves that govern lucid dreams, so there's that. But yeah, I think if we could get Katja to hook up with a spiritual guru, she could end up like Blanka and create electricity on-demand for stuff... Plus, the Ki Barrier Yuri did is kind of replicated on the start-up of SHO-MEI-O, so...?

Step 1: Find somebody willing to train us in Spirituality & Ki Shermie?
Step 2: Learn how to harness our Ki and make it pin-point accurate Benimaru?
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit

>>36684397
Katja's not really experimented much with her electric powers, especially for more mundane use. It doesn't help that, as previously researched, innate electric powers are actually very rare in the modern era (the only other known examples are Benimaru, Shermie, and older Kim Dong Hwan [one of Kim's twin sons]). Plus, the last couple times her ki was diagnosed, it was described as somewhat "wild."

Then again, it may be worth looking into now that Katja has a better grasp of things. It was only a few months ago that Katja's own electricity backfired on her and sent her to the hospital. TWICE.

She's turning into enough of a Mary Sue as-is; The last thing she needs is DBZ/Lars Alexandersson hair.

>>36684632

First time she went to the hospital she actually got struck by lightning. It was the second trip that was because her Ki backfired... Aside from that, Benimaru's electricity is genetic (He's supposed to be a descendant of Galford from Samurai Shodown), so Dong Hwan's the only SNK character that actually learned how to create electricity from his Ki (As Shermie doesn't really count because, well, "Heavenly Queen of Orochi" and all that).

Calling it now. Katja, King and Yuri are asked to do a minor gravure photo shoot to promo the KOF here in Japan, and it sells out instantly.

Katja starts winning popularity contests.
>>
>>36684731
Yeah, I definitely don't want this to turn into DBZ quest and have to fight Raditz or some shit like that. It's just the most we mess with ki is when we do Tai Chi. Just want to experiment with it more than we have so far, maybe come up with a special move.

We've got a fairly solid move list already, but it's worth looking into.
>>
>>36684906
Again, initial diagnosis of Katja's ki shows it to be "wild" and tempestuous. If only we could find the ghost of Tung Fu Rue to help Katja master her ki control.

And now I get ideas for a sequel with an older, wiser Katja as a side character doing CUHRAZY shit... Also, all I'll say for now is that how her electricity works is tied to how she came into this world.

>>36684597

Cute idea, but that feels more like something one of her clones would do...

>>36684284

You finish up your second set of Burpees and grab a nearby towel and start to dry off your sweaty brow before asking "Who is it?" in Japanese.

"Housekeeping!" you hear an impossibly cute-sounding voice reply.

You shrug and let her in, an impossibly cute (And small) woman staring up at you in a maid outfit that's one part "Proper", one part "J-Pop Idol" and wonder if somebody's playing a prank on you...

"C'mon in. I'll be outta yer' hair in just a sec" you reply, the Osakan Accent you picked up from living there for a few years coloring your words as the maid nervously walks in behind you. You could swear that she muttered "Biggu Burakku Sandaa" while you were putting on some jeans, a T-Shirt, your Jacket and some shoes, but shrug it off and walk out, telling her "Sorry fer' the mess girlie" before closing the door on her and heading down the hall to check up on Yuri & King.

You take a knock on Yuri's door, then ask "Oi, you in there Sunshine?" and get no response. Curious, you check on King's door and knock again, only to hear from some guy on the other side of the door yell "Housekeeping! Keep out please." in English, and in an English accent...?

Whatever, you head down to the lobby and see Yuri and King swarmed by local reporters and TV Crews, who then turn your attention over to you. You brace yourself and figure you're going to get a microphone in your eye, but surprisingly the hotel's security keep them mostly in check as you walk over to greet your friends.

"Crazy mornin' huh?" you rhetorically ask.
>>
>>36684906

"Where have you been?" Yuri asks as she gives you a hug of your shoulder while you grasp arms with King.

"Just trainin' up in my room's'all. What's the deal 'ere?" you ask her as flashbulbs go off all around you.

"The press that couldn't talk to us from when we stayed at the other place are out in droves today" she replies as the three of you slowly make your way out of the hotel's lobby and follow King as she leads you out towards the front exit.

"Huh... 'Kay. But what for? I thought that they got enough from interviewin' us last night?" you ask her, the English language being your friend here right now.

"Somebody online posted a rumor that we and every other woman in the tournament were going to do a "Queen of Fighter's" photobook and it took off like wildfire when they saw that the chick from "Deadly Skies" was going to take part" King glumly

"You serious" you ask her in reply, muttering "Bloody'ell..." before she answers.

"I kept telling them that no such plan even exists, but apparently that's how they want to promote this thing in Japan now" King angrily tells you. "That or put out an "Image Album" that tries to get us to sing..."

You raise your eyebrows at that, then remember how awful your singing voice was when you tried out for the drama club back in highschool (You got in eventually, but strictly as an actress) and sigh. Today's day of excitement and wonder just seemed to fly out the window... Or did it?

Interviews are part of being famous, no matter to whom. Being fairly cold and reluctant to talk to the press leads to the press not taking any interest in you, which leads to ways to make money evaporating, which leads to etc. etc.

You look around and see the look on all of the faces that are eagerly waiting for you to say something about this "Photobook" while King and the hotel security staff move towards the front exit. Just as the three of you reach the front door, you tap King on the shoulder and ask "Hang on a sec mate" and then turn to face the press (Who are curiously quiet and well-mannered compared to the KoF "Rag-Hags" that have been following you, Yuri & King since the tournament started).

"Look... We don't know anything about a photo shoot fer'all of the gals that're competing in this thing, awright?" you tell them, your accent getting a few murmurs from the crowd (As they were probably expecting you to sound like a retard that can't speak Japanese properly, or even worse, somebody that took a Rosetta Stone course on Japanese that sounds stiff and alien to their ears). Though, you add with a grin "But if it turns out t'be true, then you know wot? I'd like t'be part of it" before grabbing King and Yuri's arms and bolting for the door, the flashbulbs popping and the security staff holding them back from the three of you as you head outside into the bright morning day.

"Did you really mean that Katie?" Yuri asks as You head down the street with King, walking towards a small, add-on parking lot.

"Yeah. I mean shit, I posed fer'Shermie didn't I? It's just a long bloody day of standin'round and getting " "Pretty easy, honestly."

"You have changed" King idly says as you can hear a little bit of the scrum from inside the hotel trying to get out and almost feel bad for them... Key word being "Almost".

"Yeah..." you sheepishly admit, then ask "So! What'cha all want t'do today?"

"Well, we actually have one appointment this afternoon with the official scorekeeper to get our tickets and find out who our next opponents might be" King explains. "But we have an hour or so to get there."

"Where's it at?" you ask, pondering if the meeting place is out in "The Sticks" somewhere...
>>
>>36686887

"It's in Jimbo-Cho, actually" she replies.

"The Book district?" Yuri asks with a raised eyebrow, then adds "Why would a fighting tournament have it's Japan branch in the middle of a bunch of bookstores and coffee shops?"

King shrugs and admits "I don't know either... But the stationary we've gotten is from an address that's in that district, so...?"

You ponder for a moment if this might be some kind of surprise Ninja-Trap that Jean-Claude Gabriel and his goons could've set up, but then you spot what looks like Blue Mary in a bad wig and an equally tacky outfit across the street at a bus stop, "Aviator" Sunglasses obscuring her eyes... You linger in silence for a few moments as the three of you walk towards the "KoF:IM"-donated rental car, part of you seriously thinking about telling King that you don't trust such an odd meeting place... But then again, your paranoia is about the last vestige of how you used to be before you started this crazy journey into the world of The King of Fighters and you hate yourself for endlessly over-thinking every single little thing that comes up like this.

You sigh and shrug, admitting "I'dunno, it's up t'you guys really; I just know that I'm ready fer'whatever."

Yuri looks at you for sounding like such a sad-sack piece of shit, but King nods and the three of you hoof it towards your car when she hears the snap of cameras and the sound of footsteps. You hop in through the front window "Monarchs of Montana"-Style with Yuri in the back seat and King driving before speeding off and blending in to the Tokyo morning traffic.

"Can you get my phone and call up the head office? It's the number on the "Last Call Received" list" King asks of you while you settle in and buckle up. You shrug and lay back as far as your frame can in the this cramped "Econobox" (Not that modern cars are particularly box-shaped anymore, but it's a name that stuck) before grabbing her phone and dialing it up. You get a few "Busy" signals before asking Yuri "You OK back there?"

"Yeah, enough" she tells you as you hear somebody on the other end pick up. "Yes?"

"Hi, I'm Katja Hartkern" you say to start off, but get cut-off by the girl's reply.

"O-oh, right" you hear her say, sounding a tad ditzy to your ears. "And what are you calling about?"

"We, uh... We can't seem to find your address" you fib, thinking something up on the fly.

"Really? Because there are supposed to be directions in the E-Mail we sent to your teammate King" she replies, sounding a little bit like she had just woken up to your ear.

[1/2]
>>
>>36690745

"Er, I think the links got corrupted and don't work" you again fib, adding "Plus, the press might've found out and are stalking us about some phony book deal."

"Oh, the Gravure thing" she says, then asks "Yeah OK, we can arrange something else. Where are you now?"

"Well, me, Yuri & King are out driving and... Hang on" you tell the girl on the other end, then ask King "Where are we?"

"Don't know; Ask her to track the phone they gave us" she replies in staccato barks (Clearly dealing with the ceaseless traffic).

"Kay, you get that?" you ask the girl on the line.

"OK... I guess we could meet up at this one place I know" she says, then adds "I'll text you directions" before hanging on you up.

"OK..." you say to yourself, then feel the phone buzz a few times as those text messages fill into your in-box faster than you expected and take a gander at them. "Hrm..."

"What's up Kat?"

"Well, according to these instructions she wants us to meet in the basement of some office building about 20 minutes away" you tell King, then add "But it looks like it's coffee shop or something..."

"Jeez... Should've just stuck to the first place" you hear Yuri in the back say. "You still want to do this King?"

"Well, we kind of have to; She's got our plane tickets back to Southtown" King replies as you wonder what the hell could be in the location that the girl on the other end could've sent you, because the only thing that could've fit was under construction when you drove past it last night...

>A. Follow wherever the hell this place is and get ready to protect yourself, because this sounds like an even bigger set-up...

>B. Call the girl back of your own volition and demand to meet somewhere else; The location she gave directions doesn't exist on your phone's map and you want answers (Roll 1d100 for intimidation)

With an overwhelming score of 5-1, Option A wins the vote, with updates following as fast as my connection will allow it in the monsoon-like weather that's raging outside.
>>
>>36691833

You close your eyes and say "Just roll with it, I guess" to no one in particular. "I wanna go home already."

"Yeah..." Yuri moans & groans behind you as King gets off of the main expressway and starts driving down a few narrow side-streets fora few minutes before stopping at a massive construction site, a billboard announcing that this is the construction site that shall one day be a high-rise set of luxury apartments dubbed "Dream Spire".

"Well, this is it" King says, sounding like she's announcing your last meal. "Just as sketchy as the directions had it..."

"As much as it changes, some parts of this tournament always stay the same" Yuri says with a hint of disapproval in her voice.

"Fuckin'A', if it bothers y'all that much, I'll go get the bloody tickets myself" you say with a lazy tone of voice.

"Y'take the bloody fun out of this, y'know?"

"Believe me, going into some underground black market unannounced isn't exactly 'Fun'" King says, clearly speaking from experience.

As much as you love these two girls as sparring partners and friends, right now you just want your damn plane tickets and a schedule for your next fight, plus that seal that each envelope's held together acts like proof of your team's entrance and identity as well...

"So... Seal t'show 'em that I'm legit, scowl and don't say anything more than I need to, right?" you ask as you undo your belts and get ready to extricate yourself from your cramped quarters.

"You REALLY want to go in there?" King asks.

You pause at that, then flash a smile and hop out, then walk around the car and knock on King's window and tap it, your expression asking her for the seal to the last envelope.and her phone, because you seemed to have forgotten to bring yours. It's when she gives you these hings and you start to walk towards where the front entrance might be that every fiber in your body starts to tell you that you have no fucking idea what you're doing and are better off just heading back...

>A. Call up that chick from the "Head Office" and ask her where she is; Hopefully, she'll give you step-by-step instructions in case there isn't a clear-cut way to reach her...

>B. Take a few breaths to steady yourself and put on the best damn "Gangster" face you can muster, then check King's phone to see if any of the remaining text messages might have any clues as to where to meet her; If that fails, look around the construction site and see if there are any odd or unusual objects that might lead hidden passageways or something...

>C. Walk right up to where the main entrance might be, flash your seal and tell the foreman working here what you're here for; No use beating around the bush, right?

>D. Chicken out and go get either Yuri or King to back you up on this one; You might talk a big game, but your heart's just not cold enough to go through with this alone...

>>
>>36693246

For a brief moment, you think about sneaking around and start looking for little details that could lead to a hidden entrance to a location marked on the map on King's phone that, honestly, looks like you'd have to scale a wall and dig underneath a few feet of earth to find. You sigh at how naive that idea even sounds (Part of your brain's inner voice going "What, you thought it's like the fuckin' movies or something? Get real!") and instead call up that girl from before, though you try to text her instead of leaving a message.

"OK, I'm here. Now what?" you type and send, then look tough while scoping the scene of this dubious place; Nothing but cheap bars, food, a couple of "Hostess" clubs and a 8-12 convenience store... All of which helps to rumble your stomach and make you wish you hadn't skipped breakfast back at the hotel.

Fortunately, your lingering pangs of hunger are broken by somebody rolling up to where you stood on a bicycle. She's of average height and fairly unremarkable, except for the large glasses and brown overcoat.

"You're from before, yeah?" you ask in Japanese.

"You must be Ms. Hartkern" she says, then daintily steps off of the bike and shakes your hand, her skin smooth as silk. "Come. I'll show you around."

"Yeah nah; I just want the tickets sweetie" you tell her, your voice sounding like a granite block scraping across a chalkboard. "A schedule would be nice too."

"You sure? Because really, you HAVE to see" she starts to say, though you interrupt her with only a hand raised up.

"Tickets and Schedule please" is again your reply. "I'm awfully busy and really, I'm a heap'o'trouble fer' skippin' out of an interview a little earlier, so...?"

She looks like you just snatched an ice cream cone out of your hand and threw behind you after taking a lick, then says "Well, OK..." and hands you a cream envelope with a Red, rather gaudy wax seal with the letter "J" emblazoned in the center of it.

"Right then" You say at first glance.
>>
>>36693648

This nameless woman takes a look at your unflinching expression and gulps down whatever was in her mouth, then says "Y-Your tickets and your team's schedule is inside. H-Have a nice day" while your large frame looms over hers.

You don't say anything as she walks away in a rather curt manner before hopping on her bicycle and trying to splash a standing puddle of... Something on you while riding off. Thankfully, it doesn't even get close enough to touch your shoes and say "Well, fuck you too" once she's out of earshot before casually walking back to the car when you notice somebody walking off the site that looks like a spitting image of Vanessa (An "Agent" you met). You stop and stare with a raised eyebrow, thinking back to the Mary-Wannabe with black hair you saw about an hour earlier and ponder if there's something going on in the background that you should've known about... Then chalk it up to more needless paranoia and hop back into the car, passing the envelope to King and asking her to "Drive, please."

"Dude! You didn't even have to go inside...?" Yuri asks.

"Yeah... Besides, it's a set-up that went bad because they picked a bloody librarian to try'n'be a hitwoman" you tell her, an odd tinge of regret in your voice when you add "Wonder if it's that seam kind of deal back home that Shen was tellin' me about?" under your breath.

"What now?" Yuri asks as it takes all of King's nerve not to stomp on the gas pedal and haul-ass out of there.

"Eh, nothin" you say as you hear your stomach growl and your mind starts to turn on exactly WHY you're disappointed that you didn't get a chance to fight, like, a bunch of Yakuza with guns, knives, swords, brass knuckles and shit like some bad movie or a night in the "Old" Southtown (The one you've never actually had a chance to experience for yourself, because you arrived AFTER "The Paragon Group's" millions started to rebuild the city and drive out that old, seedy spirit that some locals loved about it)...
>>
>>36694255

"Who were you starring at?" King asks as she navigates past a few parked cars that crowd the narrow, one-way streets.

"Hmm?"

"I don't know, from here it looked like you were trying to read a sign or something" King replies as she turns back onto a road that leads back towards one of this district's main thoroughfares (No idea where you are though; At least in Osaka you could find your way around).

>A. Tell King & Yuri you have a gut feeling that "Blue Mary" and the agents she's working with are in town and see what they say of it (And use your "Sightings" of Mary & Vanessa as well).

>B. Just tell her that you thought you saw an old friend and try to brush the subject off by asking both of them if they want to get some food while you're all out on the town.

>C. Don't say anything and just reflect more on why you've been having these conflicting thoughts and feelings about wanting- No, NEEDING to fight lately after sitting last night out (Of no fault of your own, though)...

>D. Skip ahead to later that night as Katja and try to sneak out of the hotel to go back to this seedy dive of a construction site incognito; Even if it IS a set-up that blew up in somebody's face, there's just something that's compelling you to head back there and check it out.

You think a bout just spilling the beans and outright saying that "Blue Mary" and some of the members of the "Agency" are here for some reason and keeping tabs on what you and Jean-Claude Gabriel might be doing, but think better of it; Knowing Mary, she'd probably find out that you told her about doing a job and could kiss your (Slim) chance at a career there goodbye... And maybe get a couple of bodyslams and suplexes for good measure when you see her.

Instead, you simply tell King "Let's just say we've got some quiet eyes on us. But those eyes are on the good guys, and they've got our back."

"...? OK?" King replies with a question of her ow, though Yuri gets it straight away.

"You saw one of those agents guys running around? Or spying on you?"

"... Maybe... It would explain why that girl freaked out and rode off without saying so much as a 'Thank you'. And I think I saw another one out in front of the hotel before we left " you tell Yuri, then ask King "Anyways, you'n'sunshine up for some food? Because I'dunno about you, but I'm bloody starving over'ere..."

"I called up a place for an early lunch and they were so excited to have us that they're willing to put the meal up for free if we pose for a few pictures and sign some autographs" King replies with astonishment.

"I know... I mean, we've gotten like tons of fan mail and junk but I can't even remember when people were giving us free food and reporters were practically down on their knees begging for interviews" Yuri says with an equal amount of astonishment at the kind of attention your team has been getting in and out of "The King of Fighter's" tournament.

"Gotta love what fame can bring sometimes, eh?" you say with a cheeky grin, then add "Makes me wonder what they said about us on the website..."

"Oh, it wasn't half-bad for a change" King tells you as the car grinds to a halt at a stoplight. "Some fluff about you to start, but then it switched to how well myself and Yuri did."
>>
>>36695073

"I'll be damned... You get that kind of coverage when Mai was with you?" You ask, though you quickly add "Just curious's'all."

"Once or twice, but mostly about her" King replies, admitting "When Chizuru Kagura joined that one year, it was about as much of a hassle as it is now..."

"But she had enough connections to smooth it over' Yuri says, telling you "I was with Ryo & Robert for that tournament and even Robbie was curious to how Chizuru was able to squeeze out of a few tight spots for interviews and stuff."

"Huh... So this kind of attention isn't really new fer'the tournament then, is it?" you ask, always curious about what the older tournaments were like.

"Well, Kind of... Chizuru's like a CEO to a big Zaibatsu, so she was like the new guy was back in the day and ran the tournament for a few years" Yuri explains. "And for the time, she really promoted the heck out of it."

"I think it's mostly about then and now rather than the scale of the coverage, because back then you didn't really have any on-demand news channels covering it or an instant way to follow it outside of the live broadcasts for each match" King elaborates. "Now, just with the official website alone you get so much more information that it can be kind of distracting."

You nod, knowing that it's really just a way of the world and ask "So... What happened to her? Quit the fight game and went straight to make back the money she spent?"

"Sorta... You called her up one day for an invite and she said 'I can't do it anymore', right King?" Yuri says.

"Yeah... Somehow, for a long while she couldn't do what her clan has been able to do for generations and couldn't fight anymore" King answers, then adds "But then one day it all came back somehow and she's good as new."

"Yeah, and Yagami fought without his flames for a little bit too before getting them back out of nowhere" Yuri adds as you feel almost overwhelmed by this information and try to soak it in like a sponge.

"Oh yeah... Just as peculiar if you ask me" King replies as you lay your head back and ask "Wonder why the tournament's tried to keep her out then...?"

"Money probably" King tells you.

"Yeah, that's probably it" you reply while resting your eyes a little, trying to get comfortable while your legs are slightly jammed into the passenger-side footwell and the seat can't go back without smooshing Yuri in the back seat...

Hmm... Well, there are two votes that are just of Katja drowsing off and then waking up when she and her friends arrive at the place King ahead for reservations, while two more do that and add a cut-to a different character...

So then, using logic (And QM Fiat, since 4 votes are technically in favor of it), Option B will happen no matter what; The real question then is whether to stay in control of Katja Hartkern or cut to someone else? Your resting eyes turn into a real nap at some point and you only wake up when King taps you on the shoulder.and says "We're here."

You rub your eyes and stifle a yawn, then look around and see a sign for a place that's specializing in Sahimi and wince. "Aw jeez, not again..."

"What? It's just raw fish that has been prepared properly" King says as she undoes her seatbelts.

"I just got really sick the one time I tried it's'all... Bloody well cost me a job the next day" you grumble.

"Yeah, I'dunno... I was never a big fan of it either" Yuri adds.

"When have you even tried it?" King asks, sounding defensive to your ears.

"Last year when you & Mai dragged me to someone's Christmas party" she replies.

"Fuck it, the damn thing's are free innit? Then let's go already" you practically yell before hopping out of the car and doing some stretches, audible creaks and cracks from your body.

"... Whatever" You hear Yuri say as she gets out, which causes you to shoot back up from touching your toes and tell her "I just don't want t'hear anymore bitchin'bout stuff, OK? It's gets on my nerves. Plus these guys are hosting us, right? We should be bloody honored they're sincere about it..."

King doesn't say anything as she locks the car up, but Yuri looks kind of hurt and surprised that you'd snap back at her like that as you follow King inside to a quaint, cozy little place with what looks like wood stumps for chairs and a very "Outdoors" kind of vibe. You also spot small "Burner" grills on each table and see a few heads turn when you walk past a few customers, King talking to somebody (That's probably the owner of this place) in French like they're old friends.
>>
>>36702910

Finally, you get seated in a private section one floor up that's hosting some important-looking businessmen and a few others that could be celebrities you don't care to know about, the decor slightly changing to match the "VIP" nature of this particular place.

King then asks "No raw food, right?" as a waiter shows up and hands you three menus that look absolutely tiny to your eyes.

"Not particularly, but I don't mind if I have t'cook something" you reply as you notice a larger, more stove-like flat grill in the center of the round table and start to squint to get an idea of what this place serves. "Fuckin'hell, I almost can't read this thing" you think to yourself while King glances at hers.

"It's a real touristy kind of place, huh?" Yuri asks while looking at the pamphlet-sized menu.

"The owner's a chef who went to culinary school in France, but washed up at the old location for "La Illusion" King replies.

"Gotcha" Yuri says, the silence in the room between the three of you only heightened by overhearing cracks about the "Giant Gaijins" at your table.

"Yeah, I could see how he'd probably open his place up to foreigners if he learned how t'cook abroad" you say while pondering if letting King order for you would be wise; It's been a while since you really had to focus and read Japanese text this small and you can barely make out what most of the menu's offering...

>A. Let King order for you; You'd need a magnifying glass to read this stupid menu.

>B. Ask for what you thought was "Sweet & Sour Bluefin" and hope that was the right order.

>C. Tempt fate and try some Raw-Ass Sashimi; Who knows, maybe it'll actually taste like something and settle with you this time.

After a few more minutes of trying to decipher what the specials of the day are and what kind of specialities aside from raw fish this place has, you put your menu down and ask King "Are the menus always this small? Because I can barely read mine."

"No, it shouldn't be" she tells you, equally befuddled at them as the waiter asks if the three of you are ready to order.

"Hmm... I think I'll have the... Hang on, what does this say?" Yuri sheepishly asks the waiter, who points out that it's the sake list. She blushes and asks King "Can you read this?"

She sighs at that, then puts a finger up and tries to read each and every letter... Before telling the waiter "Are there any larger-print menus than this?"

King gets a shrug from the waiter before he tells her that he'll ask the manager if they have any before scuttling back downstairs. "Normally Daisuke would run a tighter ship than this..." she mutters.

"Yeah... Don't know the guy personally, but this seems kinda amateur hour, y'know?" you chip in, then ask "Oh, and could you order for me? I'll have whatever you're getting, it's fine."

"Sure" she replies with a shrug as the waiter comes back with three huge, almost book-like menus and hands them to all of you. You actually kind of struggle to open yours up at first, but then see an impressively detailed list of Sushi (Both "Cooked" and Raw) and Sake, along with a few salads and an odd-looking, curious euro-centric dish dubbed "Le Royale" in big, block-like English letters (With a translation underneath it).

"Much better... I'll have what she's having" you say to the waiter in Japanese, heads again glancing at you from that one table full of businessmen.

King nods and orders the "Sweet & Sour" Bluefin Tuna (One of the items you have to actually cook in the center stove) that you had salivated a little over while Yuri goes for a "Caesar" Salad that seems to only share a name with a real one.

"So... Did you check the tickets out yet?" Yuri asks you.
>>
>>36704853

"Actually..." you start to say as you take your coat off and grab the Cream-Colored envelope out of one of the pockets, then carefully remove the wax seal from it and hand that over to King while checking the contents. A part of you almost was expecting some kind of nerve gas to shoot out of the envelope, but instead you find three plane tickets and a schedule that confirms your team's fights from now on will take place at Wellington Memorial Stadium, that newly-opened place just outside of town that some crooked contractors have been trying to get a road through The Kyokugen Dojo's property.

"Well, I'dunno if the tickets are legit, but here's the schedule" you say as you hand it to Yuri, who glances at it before handing it over to King. "And these tickets are for a red-eye flight that's scheduled to go out tonight at around 1 in the mournin'..."

"Yeah, that's so we can take part in a few things later the following evening" Yuri says while King silently reads over the schedule and itinerary.

"Huh... So according to this, we have only two off days to train from now until the 16th" King says, half-thinking out loud.

"That's not too bad, actually... One day to fly in and what, three days of PR?" You ask as a different waiter brings small glasses of water and a set of chopsticks for the three of you.

"Looks like it..." King confirms as the waiter from before arrives with your food, two instruction sheets for how to start the grill in the center of the table and how long to cook your order along with King's.

>A. Ask Yuri & King if they want to join you for a little training session in Gyoen Park after lunch.

>B. Start cooking your food on that grill and see if King has any kind of idea for what the rest of today's schedule should be; If she doesn't offer up your own or something...

You gently grab your chopsticks and gradually get used to using them again while King starts up the grill, the sizzle that your meal and hers make forcing your mouth to salivate a little bit. You swallow a little bit of it and ask her "So then, y'want to head down t'the national park and train fer'a little bit?"

"... I don't know, maybe" King says as you play a game of "Monkey see, monkey do" with her while the two of you cook your meals, Yuri trying not to chuckle while munching on her odd salad. "Why?"

You shrug and admit "I'dunno, hearin' that we only got a few days off one we get back t'the states makes me think that we should try'n'get as much done while we can."

"That's true" she replies, then adds "But I'm awfully sore from last night..."

"Yeah, me too" Yuri tells you. "I kind of wanted to just kick back and relax a little today..."

"Y'mind if I go by myself then?" you ask as you follow what King's doing almost exactly, your food releasing strong aromas that make you appreciate the small hassle of doing this.

"Well, it's kind of out of the way isn't it?" King asks as she finishes up cooking her meal and starts to eat.

"It's not bad if I use the car" you tell her, then flip your food over to give it a little more of a "Cooked" feeling on one side. "I probably wouldn't be gone fer'more than two hours or so either..."

"Well, we don't really have to get going until like 10 O'clock tonight to make it to Narita Airport, right King?" Yuri asks.

"Considering that it took about an hour just to get through customs coming into the country last time? I think we should get there at around 10-1:30, which would mean leaving the hotel at around 8 or so" she replies in between delicate, small bites of her food.

"Kay... So, I guess I'm on my own fer' this one, huh?"

"... Nah, I'll join you" King admits.

"Might as well too" Yuri chips in. "But what did you have in mind?"

"Honestly? I wanted t'try and get in touch with my spiritual side..." you say.
>>
>>36707254

".. But I could spar with either of ya' if you want" you add, before grabbing your food off of the hot grill and placing it on your plate, then tearing tiny pieces off f it to munch on. It's... Oddly pretty good. Not as cooked as you'd normally like obviously, but you can't complain about a free meal as good as this (The sauce they used really helps bring out the natural flavor of the tuna).

"Eh... Just meditating and stretching in the park sounds good to me" Yuri replies, stretching out her arm and making a pretty nasty-sounding crack that stands you and King up by it's sharpness.

You whistle at that sound and ask "Damn, those old guys did a number on you, huh?"

"Yeah, Heidern mostly" Yuri says. "Saisyu wasn't too easy either though..."

"Yeah, I honestly didn't expect him to still have his old moves back" King tells her, then looks to you and asks "2 Hours enough time to do what you want in Gyoen?"

"Sure!" you say with a smile and the rest of your meal was a bit of a blur after that, not even recalling what you were talking about when the three of you finished up and started walking back to your car. The ride down to Gyoen National Park in Shinjuku was a bit of a mind-bender as well, as you felt like somebody had just grabbed you from the parking lot outside of your rental car and placed you back down out in front of the entrance.

You cover the nominal fee to get inside for all three of you, then walk northward to where you had trained before, Yuri and King following you until you spot the tree you meditated under. "Well?" you turn around and look back at Yuri & King, "This is where I'm gonna be fer'a bit."

They look at you for a few seconds before you turn back around and happily sit under the shade of a gorgeous Sakura Tree, cross-legged and with your eyes closed as everything seems to drift away from you, yet you're still aware of your surroundings as your hearing starts to fade...

You think you could've heard Yuri saying "Let's do some stretches over there" to king, but by now your ears feel like they're underwater and the red you "See" from the sun shining in your face darkens considerably as you slow your breathing down. Soon, your eyes are completely shrouded in darkness and you can't even feel like you're sitting on the ground as you start to hear what sounds like a massive wave of static start somewhere off in some far-off distance inch closer and closer.

The more you focus on that wall of "Static", the more you start to realize that it's actually about a zillion different conversations/events playing out over and on top of each other, the sound of them growing larger and larger as you feel your Ki start to rise up and circulate through your body. Some of them you recognize from different parts of your life, up to and even from this year; Others... You have no idea where they could've come from as the ball of static starts to slowly creep into view like a sun rising over a hill-top/

Before you can even understand what some of them mean you're standing the middle of that static ball, grainy video screens featuring you sometimes in between swathes of black, whit and grey "Snow" (As in the nickname for T.V. Screen static) play out in an odd, almost animated style as you can't even hear yourself think now; The sound of all of the chaos around you is maddening... But somehow you endure and spot a bright, blue orb that looks like a spark of electricity held in perfect, mid-air form.

Figuring that's the "Eye"of this electrical storm, you feel like your body gets up and you try to run towards it, yet somehow only get farther and farther away from your goal until you stop, which is when it stands back into it's original place... You feel like grunting and groaning and yelling and trying to do fucking SOMETHING to cut down all of this goddamn noise, but then you get an idea and stop, the static around lessening slightly.

You sit back down try to empty your mind completely, not thinking about anything or over-analyze what this "Meditation" means and just... Breathe. What's odd is that you felt that breath and it seemed to knock down the dome of static all around you and draw that blue, ethereal sphere closer... Though, when you think about how to get it closer it starts to move away from you and the static returns louder than ever, the events and voices you don't understand/can't place where from taking center stage.

You let out a frustrated sigh and the whole plane of static starts to turn red and you stop again, breathing in and out and watching it fade away, all while that blue "Ball" from before starts to close in towards where you stand. The "Sky" around you goes dark and quiets down as you can feel your Ki move though your body again, drawing that sphere ever-closer until finally, you can sense that it's right in front of you and close enough to try and touch it, the voie of your mother whispering "I love you, Katja" like she had done when you were little the last thing you hear before absolute, stony silence.

That's when you open your eyes and see it resting just underneath your proud bosom, the rest of your surrounding shrouded in darkness and slowly, calmly move to grab it with your hands. It doesn't seem to want to move at first, but when you finally manage to touch the damn thin g it grabs you by your hands and pulls you forward at a speed your eyes can't even begin to comprehend, the "Static" from before following you as you rise upward, the feeling of getting zip-lined up from inside of a volcano like some cheesy action star palpable to you as you can see a sliver of light ahead of you growing larger and larger... Your eyes widen at that and you try to haul your upper body closer to the sphere itself, something within you saying "Absorb it now! This is your only chance!" (Again like some bad action flick) while it seems to sink into your torso.
>>
>>36712373

You feel a burning sensation move across your body like a bad rash and it seems that this is; No turning back now and flashes of when you were struck by lightning and when you electrocuted yourself trying to draw this power out in front of the entire elite class of the Kyokugen Dojo start to pop up around you like videoscreens, the "Static" rising faster and almost nipping at your feet. You curl yourself around what's probably the manifestation of your Ki and hold as everything turns to a bright, white light...

Which is when you see yourself standing next to a mirror in a vast, white room, eyes without pupils (Actually just turned the pupils white from their natural grey) and Ki radiating around you and your mirror image. If you didn't know better, you just went full-on "SHO-MEI-O" and didn't even realize it, though a new-found urge to start using your power starts to rise, a sense of "Yeah, I can't wait to pound that smug bitch's face in! You resist those urges to try and bash your own face in and simply walk towards your mirror image. She does the same before the two of you stop at about an arm's length from each other. Curious, you and your double reach to to touch one another, but instead get forced to "Hover-Hand" and pull back.

"Who are you?" you ask.

"... Seems a bit silly to ask, ain't it?" comes the reply.

"Not really" you start to say, then explain "I'm using Buddhist meditation to access some sort of omnipresent Aborigine time-space-dream, and in that state chased lightning
through a field of snow, had me mum whisper that she loves me, get yanked into the air, and now I'm talking to a zapped-out version of myself... So yeah, I'd like t'know if you're me."

Your "Other Half" of-sorts chuckles, then asks "Shit mate, you get put through this wringer a lot huh?" Your silence speaks volumes to her and she answers "Yeah, I'm you. But what'd you think about this?"

"... I think the universe is telling me to stick to stretching" you reply without a hint of sarcasm.

"Maybe, but if you stuck with stretchin' all of your life would you be here right now?" She replies, again asking you a tough question before adding "And you're saner'n'me by a long shot. Believe me on that one."

You raise a silent eyebrow at that while she says "You're born fer'it, you're genes were built fer'it by god himself... And this?" she replies before holding up that ball of Ki you enveloped yourself over (Your arm doing the same, but without anything in it or you realizing it), "This is all you. This is your calling card, and you want t'throw it all away and live some quiet life where y'never tried, never strove to accomplish anything?"

Bitch, have you been paying attention the past few months?
>>
>>36713729

You grit your teeth at that last sentence and yell "Bitch, have you been paying attention the past few months?"

The one pristine white of the room starts to darken on your "Side" while the other glows brighter. "That ain't the point."

"Then what is?"

"... Fuck mate, I'dunno. I'm you, remember?" she replies with a shrug.

"If you were pain' attention to what I was doin', you'd know damn well what's been going fer'the last 6 months" you thunder, the ground feeling like it's trembling underneath your feet when you said that. "So no, I ain't throwing it all away; I just want to know why, when I started t'think that I had it in the bag or" you start to ask, then stop when you hit a moment of clarity. "O~h..."

"Yeah... We all have a competitive side, right? Ego. You need an ego to get places in life; Sometimes, you gotta be a right selfish bitch to get anything done... But the thing is, y'can't let that run your life and cloud who you are unless y'like living a lonely life..." the other side of the "Mirror" explains as your side starts to brighten up a little while hers remains the same.

"I ALREADY live a lonely life though" you tell her. "I've had one for more than a fucking decade and I'm sick of it."

The other "You" pauses at that, her side of the room getting darker before she replies "OK, sure. But you threw yourself head-first into this without a second thought, chasing something you never believed you'd achieve anyway."

"So I'm out of balance then? I think too much? Because that ain't bloody likely if ya' ask me" you tell her.

"... Enough that you're goin' t'this place as frequently as y'do and you don't understand why" the other side of the mirror says, grabbing onto the sphere and holding it just above her hip. "And yeah, you could've maybe loosened up and tried t'live like a normal person if you actually stopped t'think about it."

"But then I wouldn't be here, would I?" you ask, the other side of mirror starting to darken even further now.
>>
>>36714294

"... Nah. Not even close to where you are now" your other side admits as her side of the room goes pitch black.

"Good or bad, mistakes or not, I can't change what I've done with my life... But I can learn from it?" you say, half-confused at the last part of your sentence.

"Bingo. Here, take this and learn from it too" "Not-You" says as she grasps hands with you, absorbing that ball of Ki at last and feeling the odd sensation of grappling with yourself, right down to your somewhat rough hands.."And lay off coming here fer'a'while eh? You're wracking up those frequent dreamer points quicker'n'you can spend the bloody things!" she yells before you can't feel "Your" touch anymore and everything goes dark... Then brightens as you open your eyes, electricity going off between the fingers of your outstretched palms.

"OK... Need t'get a guru or somebody t'get that side in-check, because that just ain't fun anymore" you ponder before getting up and doing some good-old-fashioned stretches, spotting Yuri & King off to your left doing pinpoint attack exercises without the help of pads.

"Hey! You two ready to go?" you ask when you get close enough to them and feel your Ki flow slow to a crawl.

"Alright..." Yuri says with

"How long has it been since we got here?"

"About an hour on my phone's clock" King tells you.

You shrug, then tell them "OK, start whaling on me sunshine" and put up your guard.

"Not one for meditating under waterfalls and stuff, huh?" Yuri asks as she lays a fat punch right into your curiously buff forearm.

"Nah, not yet. I'm gonna stick with physical stuff from now on" you admit before stepping to your right to offset a blow from one of Yuri's kicks. "I need like a guide t'help figure out the higher power behind all of this Ki shit anyway..."

"Why? You look like you're doing pretty good to me" King asks as she watches the two of you train.

"I just... I ain't settled though" you tell her. "Its all static'n'chaos and it bothers me."
>>
>"Alright..." Yuri says with a sigh.
Fixed.

>>36714799

"I wish I could help you Katie, but I have no clue in how to draw that kind of thing out of you" Yuri tells you before doing that but-first attack of hers.

You block it right near your abdomen, but it feels like a miniature wrecking ball just bashed into your stomach and it takes all of your resolve not to let it show and defend against her follow-up attack (A Low sweep). "No worries mate" you manage to let out before getting a breath and getting your "Head" into this "Game", treating it more and more like an honest-to-goodness fight.

"Well, it's not like I don't know HOW to do it... It's more like, I know how to do Ko'oukens and Kohou's and everybody I've tried to teach thinks ofh wow, you're like a wizard or a superhero or something" but you're not; It's just a trick" Yuri says before stopping to take a quick breather, adding "And it's all about channeling a part of yourself most people never get to know that they have..."

"Kay... So, You you get how your style and your Ki works" you think out loud, Yuri offering up a pretty good answer to that line of thinking.

"But everybody who I've told about has no freakin' clue how you work!" Yuri says with a huff.

"Sounds pretty fair; I wonder myself sometimes" you joke, then look over at King and ask her "Hey, you up fer'one too before we hit the road?"

Her grin and the roundhouse kick to your head says all you need to know and you block it with some difficulty, King clearly more up for this kind of thing than Yuri (Who's now laying down on the grass doing cool-down stretches). You almost get knocked down to the ground with her second kick, but again you "Eat" it and gain your footing after her third, "Venom Strike"-like kick.

"Still waking up?" she asks and you nod, feeling like you're back in Southtown at Meadow's Park with your friends again and having the absolute time of your life right now before settling in to defend King's punches.

Now it's time for a 2-Part Vote. First, select one of the following:

>1. Stick a Fork in this particular thread thread; We're done until 12/13/14[!]

>2. Keep going.

Then select one of the following (If needed):

>A. Time-Skip to later that night and go through customs at Narita Airport as Katja Hartkern.

>B. Time-skip back to sweet-home Southtown as Katja Hartkern and "The Women's Team" return (And fuck around with the "Time of day" tracker tremendously).

>C. Assume the Role of another "KoF: IM" Competitor? ("Write-In" Vote to determine which character to gain control of for a possible "Side-Story")

>D. Something Else... (Write-In vote)

>1.

That was an OK way to go out honestly.. But. do you have the article that Jean-Claude was talking about in the last thread up in a pastebin? The one that would run regardless of which team won or lost the fight on Thursday night?

Eh, at least that was better than Ash's ending in KOF XIII. Not that such a statement is saying much, but whatever.

This thread had a good run and is pretty much done.
>B. Time-skip back to sweet-home Southtown as Katja Hartkern and "The Women's Team" return (And fuck around with the "Time of day" tracker tremendously).
You can do it just as the plane pulls into the airport.
>>
>>36715267

I honestly don't care if this continues tonight, but I'm hitting the hay after this, so... Both 1 & 2? With B being my other vote I guess.

Will the next thread start at 9 Pacific? Or 10 like what you did with this one?

I did, but I lost the link to it on pastebin... I do have the original version in my computer in my "Notes" section, but It's not 100% ready in that state; I'll have it done in time for the next thread.

>>36715521

OK, just checking. I could've kept going, but I made the last two updates I had in mind a 4 post wall'o'text at the end just in case.

Thanks to all that have participated over the last few days! I plan to start up Round 45 on 12/13/14 at 10 AM PST/1 PM EST, though as always check for announcements through my Twitter feed, as there's no other alternative available anymore on this board sadly...

Regardless, sleep well and hope I don't crash my car on the way to getting my tires changed or something...
