You are Ur'shal, chieftain of the Stonetusk Clan, and now that you are starting to cast your sights further afield you are coming to realize quite how many challenges your clan has to overcome.

To the north stand the Howling Mountains, home to hordes of ogres, the Skyhunter Clan, and even a dragon by the name of Slaagyr, you now hear. West, the deranged Tongueripper Clan, who if the old shapeshifting priest Vor'zal is to be believed, have fallen under the control of an abyssal sorcerer and priest of the abyssal lord Mul'orog Grul. East stands the Great Wall, and whatever sorceries and forces the kingdoms beyond have devoted to keeping your people out to die a slow death in the wastes, and south the warring Goatfoot and Stormhowl Clans, small but honed by years of bloody raids and conflict, and beyond them the unknown dangers of the jungle.

Just to add to your problems, your lieutenant Dru'ak has returned with news of some necromancer lurking in the tombs nearby, who claimed the lives of two of your clan, an insult which cannot go unpunished.

It's almost enough to make you yearn for the simple days of hunting rootsuckers in the wastes... Almost.

All of these problems will require some serious attention, splitting your forces at this juncture would only lead to more losses.

So which of these issues do you wish to devote your efforts to first, young chieftain?

>>
>>36662601
We know necromancy is an accepted practice among orcs, even if this particular necromancer seems to be an enemy. It's also a branch of arcane magic, rather than being Abyssal. Zul'orok Zhar takes a dim view of otherworldly forces laying claim on orcs; does that include the raising of the orcish dead by foes, or is his hatred specifically for creatures of the Abyss and enemy divinities?
>>
>>36662647
I wouldn't be surprised if this necromancer isn't actually a bad guy, just extremely pissed off about these fucking orcs coming in robbing tombs and desecrating the dead.
>>
>>36662680
Isn't that what he's doing, though? And whether or not he's a cackling villain, the fact that he killed two of our clanmates kind of makes him our enemy by default.
>>
>>36662707
Kind of a grey spot, admittedly. But maybe he tries to put them back where he found them?
>>
It wouldn't do any good to send your forces out further afield only to suffer an attack from your own lands. The necromancer needs to be dealt with, and quickly. You gather together your inner circle of clanmates that evening to discuss matters, the sounds of raucus orcish celebrations in the background.

“First, what can you tell us about the necromancer, Dru'ak?”

Dru'ak grunts, scratching at his bandaged arm. “We went down into a tomb a short way south of here. It was all quiet when we went in, didn't see any bones, but we figured the scavangers had been at them. It was when we get to the inner tomb that we got ambushed. Walking skeletons came out of the side passages, and then the sorcerer started throwing his magic at us, Bu'rak went down bleeding from the face after the necromancer blew some black dust at him.”

Dru'ak's brow furrows as he pauses to think. “The necromancer didn't mind wading into the fight, but he always kept his dead slaves around him to keep too many of us from getting close. When I smashed his arm, he fled, left his skeletons to cover his escape.”

“You think he's still in the same tomb?” Zo'rok asks, tapping his chin.

Dru'ak shakes his head. “He was long gone when we got outside, saw his footprints in the dust, but we were too injured and tired to go chasing after him into unfamiliar territory with the night time predators coming out.”

“Odds are he'll find another tomb to hold up in, all necromancers really need to build a new army is places filled with corpses and the energies of the dead, and there's no shortage of those in the wastes,” Ku'zag mutters, leaning on his staff.

(cont)
>>
>>36662750
“I can give you some wards of Zul'orok Zhar to ward off his magic, but as I said before, don't expect them to save you. If he flings too many hexes your way, it'll burn them out.”

“So now the question is, who's going?”

You fold your arms, considering things. You get the feeling from the look on his face that Dru'ak would like another shot at the necromancer, but you aren't sure he's completely recovered from their last fight.

Okay, so Juk'ruk has the most votes and is a definite.

Zo'rok, Dru'ak and Ashuris are tied.

However, Ashuris isn't really much of a problem to bring along in addition to two of your orcs, because she's not anyone of importance beyond being one of your slaves.

Saw the twitter asking for suggestions about possible harem members. So here we go.

One of the little girls that Koz'rak brought back from his raid takes very well to the orcish way of life and becomes a very proficient hunter and warrior. At age 14, she demands the right to prove
herself and be made clan, and be able to choose her own mates.

A very fit, half goblin short stack devotee of Skor'oz Zik. Happy and cheerful, she never lets hardship get her down, or lets her small size stop her from getting the hard cock she wants.

A scholarly Elf matron. The bookish type, she made the study of orc history and culture her life's work. Needless to say, this has marked as eccentric amangst her peers. What they don't know is that she also completely hooked on orcish cock, going from orc clan to orc clan to get knocked up and give birth to half-orc bastards. Despite her thirst for orc cock, she's also found the time
for genuine scholarship, making her the greatest authority on orc history and psychology alive today.

Elisabeth Dannon. The orc slayer. Despite her fearsome reputation as a warrior, she appears to be the very image of the perfect human woman: Calm, soft spoken and demure. Emphasis on appears to be;
she's actually a hard fighting, hard drinking, fire breathing whore forced to maintain a good girl image for the sake of political expediency. She also actually kind of misses the orcs since their extermination 15 years ago, as they seem to be the only ones who could give her a proper fight and a proper fuck.

She was barely twenty when she slew the orc king 15 years ago. Needless to say her youth made the orcish morale break all the harder when she 1v1'd the king to death, and easily at that.

“Dru'ak, we're going after the necromancer again. We'll hunt him down and make him regret crossing the Stonetusk Clan.”

Your friend nods, a low growl in the back of his throat. “I can't wait.”

You grin, slapping your clanmate on the shoulder. “We'll take Juk'ruk as well, the miserable old snake hasn't been working as hard as Or'kuz to earn his place, so we'll make him earn it, or die trying.”

You send the group their separate ways, telling Dru'ak to inform Juk'ruk that you head out first thing in the morning.

You make your way back to your tent, finding K'zala, Aleida and Ashuris all there, Sho'ka evidently off playing with the Stormhorns again. You don't know why, but she does seem fascinated with the beasts. Ashuris gives you a sullen frown. After your recent question and answer session, she's been a lot less mouthy. Perhaps it's time to test her out doing something other than just sulking in your tent waiting to get fucked.

“Ashuris, what do you know about necromancy?”

The ogress stares silently, before sighing. “Not much, it's sorcery, my magic is divine. Raising corpses to fight, dragging souls up from the Crone Lands, causing living things to rot or wither. Disgusting.” she wrinkles her nose as she finishes.

“I'm glad you feel so strongly about them, witch, tomorrow you get to help me deal with one.”

Ashuris gives a noise of disgust in her throat, but makes no serious efforts to resist as you strip off your armour and drag her and your other women into the furs of your bed with you.

The morning comes quickly, and you disintangle yourself from your women, Sho'ka apparently having appeared and curled up next to you at some point in the night. You find Ashuris already awake, and she gives you an unreadable look as you rise and dress yourself.

“You ready,” you grunt, giving her a firm slap on the ass, noting with some satisfaction the faint blush that rises in her cheeks.

“Of course, just keep your clanmates out of the way of my magic.”

You snort, giving her a light shove outside as you meet the rest of the group, Dru'ak giving the ogress a look.

“You sure, Ur'shal?” he asks, frowning, Ashuris giving him a dismissive glance before turning away.

“I am, but that doesn't mean you can't keep an eye on her for me, Dru'ak.”

“If she gets out of line, I'll deal with it,” Dru'ak nods.

“Alright, time to get going, Dru'ak, lead us back to where you met the necromancer, and we'll pick up the trail.”

“It's this way, you'd have to be blind not to see the tracks, fool,” Juk'ruk snaps, jabbing at the ground with a bony finger.

“Those are Needleback tracks, the tracks go the opposite way,” Dru'ak rumbles, towering over the smaller, older orc, who snarls, squaring up to him.

The pair look ready to come to blows, Ashuris looking on impassively as the other orcs start to argue amongst themselves over which of their two clanmates are right.

You give a frustrated sigh, running a hand over your face.

“Dru'ak, Juk'ruk,” you growl, the two turning to face you, the aggravation still clear on their faces.

“That's the same set of tracks, the wrong set of tracks. Juk'ruk, you're trying to follow them backwards.”

Dru'ak looks sheepish, scratching his chin, while Juk'ruk grimaces, looking ready to start another argument, with you this time.

You point to another set of scuff marks in the dust, going in a completely different direction. “These are orc tracks, it is an orc we're looking for, isn't it?”

You turn from the now silent orcs, gesturing for them to follow, catching the ghost of an amused smirk from Ashuris before she spots you looking and her stony expression returns.
It is an hour later that you find what you're looking for. A natural cave in a rock face, carved snarling faces in the walls, worn and weathered by the winds.

“Feels like something's watching us,” Juk'ruk snarls, eyes darting around as you draw close to the cave.

The cave looks too narrow for your whole pack to enter at once, you could maybe get two orcs abreast, and it would be a tight fit, while ashuris will barely fit on her own. That is of course provided you just wish to walk straight in. You squint into the darkness, but the cave twists and turns too much for you to be able to see very far ahead.

“Ashuris, can you use your magic to find out what's in the cave?”

The ogress snorts. “Of course, that's simple.”

She runs a hand over the rough stone of the cave mouth, muttering in the gutteral tones of her magic. You wait as she does this, her chanting going on for several minutes before she steps back from the stone.

“The cave goes on for a little distance, then opens up into some larger caverns. It's a bit of a maze past there, but one of the exits from the caverns leads into something else, something massive. I can't see inside that though, the stone's been heavily worked, and warded.”

“You can't sense the necromancer?”

“Ashuris, I want to know if anything is about to ambush us, keep working your magic.”

The ogress gives an exaggerated sigh. “So I'm a glorified guard dog now, lovely.”

You lead the way into the caves alongside Juk'ruk, Ashuris just behind and Dru'ak bringing up the rear with the rest of your group. The tunnel is cramped and claustrophobic, but strangely the giant ogress seems more at ease than the rest of the group, her low gutteral mutterings echoing down the tunnel as she runs a hand along the rough rocky wall.

The narrow tunnel finally opens up into a large cavern, stalagtites and stalagmites as tall as you leaving plenty of places to hide in the gloom. You give an uneasy growl, turning to the ogress, who is glancing around with a frown.

“What is it?”

“I can feel something coming,” she shrugs, “living things, a lot of them too.”

You snarl, readying your axe.

“Where?”

“All around,” she mutters, and you notice her powerful body tensing, as if to strike.

A dark shape, bloated and shiny, drops from the ceiling above the ogress, but she swats it aside with an arm, bringing her heel down on it as it flails to right itself on the ground, the creature expiring in a sickening series of screeches and crunching sounds.

“Thought I didn't see you there, did you?” she smirks, reducing the creature's head to mush with a few more heavy stomps.

It looks like some sort of spider, big as a human, dark and mottled with green patterns on its hide, but where the spider's head would be is a pale, sickly human head with razor sharp teeth.

You hear chittering from the shadows, and you could swear you hear muttered threats and curses mixed in with the inhuman noises as a dozen more of the things swarm from the shadows.

It feels like every day the wastes find some new way to surprise you.

“What the hell are those?” you roar, as you swing your axe at one of the creatures, catching it a hard blow across the abdomen, the thing screeching, oozing a viscous fluid from its cracked chitin as it backs away.

“Skitterlings, nasty little fae things,” Juk'ruk snarls, kicking away one of the creatures as it tries to grab hold of his leg, bringing his axe down on its skull with a solid crunch. “Don't let them bite you.”

Your pack seems to be handling themselves well, fending off the assault without much in the way of injury, and with a few more dead skitterlings to show for it.

Dru'ak struggles to strike the things, which are proving too fast for the slow swings of his maul, which catches on a stalagmite, sending a spray of rock chunks in all directions. The creature gives a high pitched cackle, grabbing hold of his leg, your clanmate struggling to fend off its gnashing teeth.

You hear Ashuris give a cry of rage and disgust as a pair of the creatures close in on her, clinging onto her powerful body as she thrashes wildly, trying to dislodge them, the chittering, snickering things distracting her too much to work her magic.

“Get off me, disgusting creatures,” Ashuris roars, lashing out but failing to land a solid blow on the cackling skitterlings, which seem to be enjoying the obvious revulsion of the witch.

One of them clings onto her back, thin lips peeling back to reveal a row of needle-thin teeth as its jaw stretches wide to sink into the flesh of Ashuris' shoulder. You heft your axe, knocking the creature from her back in a squeal of pain as you cleave through half of its chitinous body, the thing thrashing wildly on the ground as it pumps more of the viscous fluids, before expiring with a frail whimper, legs curling into its body.

The other chitterling latched onto the Ogress quickly dislodges itself from her, trying to flee from your fury with a tirade of high-pitched insults. Ashuris seizes on the opportunity to point two fingers at the retreating fae, the rock around its feet bubbling and flowing as the panicking chitterling scrambles to free itself, sinking into the floor. The creature's insults give way to rambling squeaking pleas, but Ashuris simply sneers, jerking her arm downwards, the chitterling's front half being pulled under the surface of the churning earth. Its legs scrabble feebly for purchase as it tries to free itself, half buried in the stone. Ashuris utters a single gutteral word, snapping her outstretched hand into a fist as the liquid stone turns solid, crushing the front of the chitterling and sending a gout of pulped organs and viscous blood into the air.

This is the first time you've seen for yourself what the ogress' magic can do when it works, it makes you realize quite how badly that attack on her coven could have gone.

You turn from the grizzly remains of the chitterling, finding Ashuris watching you with a hard to place expression on her features, before she turns to fend off another of the attacking fae.

You've done some serious damage to the creatures, and without any real losses on your side so far, one more push should do it.

You make short work of the rest of the chitterlings, your pack falling into a frenzy of bloodlust which would make Kul'zog Zor proud as you hack and cleave through the fae things. You personally claim the head of at least a half dozen more of them, and you see Juk'ruk performing just as well, carving through your enemies with skill born of many years experience.

At last the cavern goes quiet again, still save for the occasional twitching leg of a deceased chitterling. You take a deep breath, wiping the shaking off some of the viscous blood splattered across your armour.

You look out at your group. No deaths, a few injuries, and Dru'ak looks like he got bitten a few times, but nothing major. That said, your old friend is looking a little shaken and pale.

“Dru'ak?” you ask, heading over to your clanmate, who doesn't respond.

“He got bitten, so did a couple of others, I warned them. Chitterling bites are bad news,” Juk'ruk shrugs, not looking particularly concerned despite his dire warning.

You give a low growl, eying Juk'ruk. The old warrior flinches.

“It messes with your head. Makes you act all crazy. Provided they didn't get too big a dose it shouldn't be too bad. Still, if they start freaking out on us at the wrong moment it'll be a problem.”

You frown, watching Dru'ak as he stares into the middle distance, oblivious to what's going on, a look of intense concentration on his face as he watches some invisible figure. You see a couple more of the pack acting twitchy as well, one of them muttering to himself, another starting to shake uncontrollably.

This is a problem, you could always send the poisoned ones back with some orcs to keep an eye on them, but that would decrease the strength of your pack, on the other hand, like Juk'ruk said, they could cause you problems in battle in their current state.

“Dru'ak, I need you to do something for me,” you say firmly, finally grabbing the attention of your old friend, who looks up at you through a confused haze.

“The entrance to the caves, I need you to go back and guard them with some of the other orcs. You can relax there until the poison has worked its way through your body.”

Dru'ak growls, shaking his head, blinking rapidly as he tries to bring his eyes into focus. “I... I don't need... I can still go on Ur, I can still fight,” he mutters, forehead knotted in concentration.

You were afraid of this, Dru'ak doesn't look happy. Seems you're going to have to sell this to him.

“Dru'ak, I need you to make sure none of those other idiots start killing each other when they're hallucinating. I know you're tough enough to take it, but the others aren't. I need you there to keep them steady, and to make sure nothing other than us comes in or out of the cave mouth.”

Dru'ak stares blankly, his clouded mind struggling to process all you just said. Eventually he gives a slow nod. “Alright, Ur. I'll do it. I'd been looking forward to killing that necromancer, but if you think this is important, then that's what I'll do.”

You nod, giving your friend a pat on the shoulder, which he swats at with a confused growl, before turning away to head towards the entrance, the rest of the gathered poisoned orcs going with him.

You're down a few of your pack already, including one of your best warriors, and you've yet to even meet the necromancer or his corpse slaves. Things aren't looking so great, but you push on regardless. Thankfully Ashuris' magic helps you navigate the winding tunnels, and several times she deigns to inform you how close you came to running into another of the cave network's denizens.

(cont)
>>
>>36666090
After what feels like forever, the tunnel you're in starts to widen out, the floor becoming smooth, carved tiles as the rocky ceiling gives way to arches. You raise a hand to your eyes, shielding them from the sudden glare of giant burning braziers of green fire hanging from the ceiling high above.

You step into a vast room, a long stone bridge stretching out into the distance, flanked by carved pillars featuring stories of great orcish battles. Winding stairs lead down the sides of the bridge to the ground far below, scattered with so many bones that you can't even make out the floor beneath.

On the walls are great murals depicting the life of a large, powerfully built orc atop a great shaggy warg, holding a spear aloft as he scatters an army of dwarves and elves.

“I've never seen an orcish tomb like this before,” hisses Juk'ruk. “What kind of place is this?”

You freeze as you hear a wheezing laugh echo out through the gigantic chamber, bringing a chill wind with it. Writhing, shadowy figures lurk at the corners of your vision with every flicker of the braziers' light. You are no sorcerer, but you know that powerful magic is at work here.

Depends on the god. None of the orcish gods like a coward though, even those who favor more subtle tactics.

There were a few things lurking in other parts of the cave network which did have belongings, but treasures or valuables might be a stretch when describing them.
