Stage 50: Three Dragonettes, Three Oni Children, and Three Youkai-born walk into a bar....

One of the advantages of having chosen Er Yin-sensei is that she can fly. Unlike Yui or Shoko, she can carry anyone she can physically lift, which means she can easily carry you and Akari with her, whole Shoko can carry Yuuhi. The downside of this, is that she is blind and will have to not only rely on you to guide her but won't be able to react to any attacks. On the plus side, she can use the Void to hide herself and you from the humans. Cloud-riders already have that ability, so you don't have to worry over Shoko and Yuuhi.

You only have minutes to plan your assault; Kiku-chan has told you where she and Yui-niji-chan spotted the oni-children, and where the trio of Void dragonettes are. Kiku-chan had no idea how deep into the spell they are, but you must take out all three – even one can complete the spell, though it might take longer for them to do so.

The plan is simple: Kill Anonimous, and take one or more of the dragonettes prisoner if possible. You've warned everyone how dangerous Anonimous was last time, and everyone coming with you, while perhaps not Clan Ryo trained, is a warrior and capable of dealing with the enemy. Dressed in sharp business pantsuit, dark glasses, and with your hair carefully styled so it looks short, you're ready for just about everything.

You just hope the others are too.

[] Fly out and reconnoiter first, then plan your attack.
[] Er Yin-sensei and Akari-niji-chan can take the Void dragonettes – that leaves three on three for Anonimous.
[] Er Yin and Yuuhi take out the Void dragonettes, the rest on the oni-children.
[] Er Yin can chose her own targets – you and Shoko will take the Void dragonettes first, then help Akari and Yuuhi with the oni-children.
[] Er Yin, Yuuhi, and Shoko on the Void dragonettes – you and Akari will start with the Ryo trained oni-children.

[X] Er Yin, Yuuhi, and Shoko on the Void dragonettes – you and Akari will start with the Ryo trained oni-children.

The Void dragonettes aren't just sorcerers – they're Ryo trained as well. On the other hand Yuuhi trained under the Fire dragonette that was reincarnated as Kiku-chan, Shoko is a Water oni-child and took out a deity, and Er Yin is a sorceress whom you have the very strong suspicion can very much deal out the pain. Three on three to take out the triplets – which they aren't, but they may as well be for how close they are – and you and Akari to take on Anonimous.

“Akari-niji-chan and I will take out the oni-children. Er Yin-sensei, Yuuhi-chan, Shoko-san; you three take out the Void dragonettes as quickly as possible. Keep in mind they've been trained like Akari—niji-san and myself, so they're not going to go down easily even if you manage to break the spellcasting. You can expect them to try and kill you before fleeing if they can get away with it.”

“Hai, Ryukusa-dono!” You blink, surprised that Yuuhi is not using a male honorific. Setting your surprise aside you get Shoko's nod and Er Yin's quiet, “Yes, Ryukusa-sama.”

“Er Yin-sensei will carry myself and Akari-niji-chan and Shoko-san, you'll follow with Yuuhi-chan. We're not going to surprise them too much, but hopefully the dragonettes will be busy with their spell.” That makes you pause. “Kiku-chan, what kind of oni-children were they?”

“Fire, Wood, and Stone, aniki-dragon. You'll have to be very careful, even if they don't have powerful weapons.” The worst combination possible, of course. Still, the powers of oni-children aren't as versatile as those of dragonettes. You quickly fetch Matagama-no-Shitoki, and pull out Ame-no-Omukade-no-Musume, though you leave it sheathed. Shoko-san has taken her gloves off, revealing large, powerful, gnarled hands with inch long claws. Akari doesn't generally use weapons of her own; being able to throw buildings at people makes them a moot point. Er Yin-sensei can't carry a weapon while she's carrying you, and of course Yuuhi-chan has her nodachi.

[X] Pray to Amaterasu-Omikami.
[X] Tell them to send Rie-sama your way if she shows up.
[] Call in a favor from Chisato, just for insurance.

You pray silently to the Kami who rules the universe, who is manifested in the form of those you love. You pray for the protection of your loved ones and the strength to defeat your enemies, but mostly you pray that you will successfully keep your true nature and your true plans from being revealed. Even though you managed to convince Oba-san that these three made alliances outside Ryo, that they are renegades endangering your mission as well as interfering in human affairs, that doesn't mean they can't make a mess out of your own plans, or that they can't carry word to Oba-san of your own alliances outside the clan.

You feel a warm, deep satisfaction, and you think that this one time, you might e able to pull a fast one over Oba-san.

You take a deep breath and sigh, and then take your wife aside, under the guise of one lass kiss. Which you give her anyways, but you also whisper, “If Rie-sama shows, send her my way.” Kiki-hime, breathless and blushing from the kiss, nods.

You and your companions file out onto the side balcony – cautiously. Shoko conjures a cloud and Yuuhi hops on it with the ease and grace of long practice. Er Yin offers her left hand to Akari, and you her right. “You will not feel any strangeness as I protect you from the sight of others. If you speak too loudly or harm someone, it will break the spell entirely, for all three of us,” she warns as you take her hand. You feel her wrap you in magic, faintly, then nothing more. “All you must do is hold on.”
>>
>>36662053
In a barrier, your own flight is more akin to moving through air just as you would through water. Er Yin's flight, on the other hand, is a weird, stomach clenching sensation, as she lifts you and Akari bodily, literally supporting your weight with her strength rather than carrying or supporting you magically. Despite the discomfort of being held by one arm, she flies you up and over the wall, easily keeping pace with Shoko's cloud.

It doesn't take long to locate the place where the trio of Void dragonettes are working; it's well outside the gawkers who stand watching the police and military deploy. Water Eyes open, it still takes you a moment to locate one of the Anonimous, blending into the crowd with a hoodie and loose pants. The white face mask – including white face-paint around his eyes to hide his skin color, the clever bastard – is still barely visible from the angle you are at.

“There's one behind the signboards above the dragonettes – he moved a little. The other is hiding in the sewer access on the road in front of them.” Akari's Stone Eyes are difficult to hide from.

[] You take the one nearest the Void dragonettes first.
[] Take the one hidden on the building ledge first, by surprise.
[] Draw Anonimous out with offers of what they're really after!
[] Have Akari join you in taking out the one nearest the dragonettes – let them think they can surprise you.

Rolled 3 (1d3)

[X] Double surprise attack – Akari the ledge, you the one nearest the dragonettes.

>Rolling for the one nearest the Void dragonettes: 1=Wood, 2=Fire, 3=Stone

You let Er Yin-sensei know what you want through the void, giving her the impressions of her dropping you behind the one nearest the Void dragonettes and as quickly as possible afterwards dropping Akari near the one at the ledge. With luck, the one nearest the Void dragonettes will be Fire, since the most likely counter to magic is magic. Most likely it's Wood, to counter Stone, the second best counter to Void magics. The one near the sewer is most likely Stone, because, like Akari, he can see through stone and move through it. You'll have to finish this fight fast and hard or he's going to be all over you, or worse, Shoko.

Unfortunately, because of the white face paint and gloves as well as his mask, all your Water Eyes can tell you is that he's about 5'10, very well built, and armed with some kind of long, flexible weapon, probably a chain, rope, or whip. Most likely chain. He's prepared for an attack, but he's not as well trained as Kusari Kuro was. His main advantage is the potential surprise he represents.

Which is why Er Yin dropping you from fifty feet up headfirst out of the sky is the best possible course of action.
>>
>>36662825
You take the sheath of your wakizashi in both hands, one at the hilt, the other at the end, and hold it outstretched. Another dragonette couldn't do this, but the instant your wakizashi passes his chin, you shift all that momentum and weight from 'down' to 'over', catching his neck with your wakizashi. Since you were facing the same direction, you catch him by the throat, much to his surprise, and plant your back against his, hurling over your body.

Unfortunately, the lack of give in his throat, the incredible solidity of his flesh confirms the worst of the three possibilities – he's the Stone oni-child. Which means smashing him into the wall the way you just did, over twenty feet away doesn't do much other than damage the wall itself as he crumples to the ground next to it. He's not even stunned, but he is off balance and starting to stand. You hear the sown of steel being drawn from behind you, and Yuuhi's high pitched “WHOOP!” and the stilling of two chanting voices. The crash of an oni child being slammed through a ledge by Akari is equally loud.

Shit's hitting the fucking fan now!

You bolt towards him, the few humans in your immediate vicinity fleeing in terror as Yakuza thugs meet Harajuku gang in the battle of the....next five minutes, because if it goes past that you're screwed anyways. He flexes, and the hoodie shreds itself to pieces around him, as do his jeans, leaving him dressed in the ridiculous white ninja costume you've come to associate with really bad movies and Anonimous. He grabs for his waist, and pulls something attached to a long gleaming cord, but you're there. He hasn't even finished standing up and you sweep your wakizashi out of it's sheath, placing the opening of the sheath solidly against his wrist to prevent him from flinging that object at you. The blade sings, though not in pain, as he brings up his arm; there's armor under the cloth wrapping, rather than his flesh!

You let him bring his arm up and hurl the object in his hand – a yo-yo. The wire it's attached to spins out, but you're traveling the same speed and direction, mostly on purpose since you didn't expect your sheath against his arm to actually stop him from moving you. He's simply too strong for that. A quick slice, and the yo-yo sails off into the distance....and he whips the wire back, catching it in the same hand he threw the yo-yo with.

“So, you're the infamous Ryu Ryukusa,” he growls, his voice deep and threatening. Well, threatening to people who aren't you, anyways. You can hear the battle raging – really raging – behind you. “You have something we want.”

Standing up, you drop the sheath into ~Nowhere~ and tap Ame-no-Omukade-no-Musume against your thigh lightly. “You have something I want, but I doubt either of us will be satisfied with the offers.”

You can't see a difference between his iris and his pupil, his eyes are so black. But you can see the surprise in his posture and minute body language. “Oh?”

“I know what you want,” you explain, “and you can't have her. What I want is your surrender, but I don't think you'll give it to me. You can't possibly win this. I don't need the high ground to have the advantage. You're not the first Stone oni-child I've fought that's been trained, and you'll not I'm here, all limbs intact.” You can see the very scant hesitation through your Water Eyes, but it vanishes almost immediately.

He tenses, even as he laughs. “Not a chance, Ryukusa!!” He makes a movement at his right hip again – another yo-yo, perhaps, or the other side of that wire? He's definitely going to fling it at you, but you doubt he'll let you cut the yo-yo free again. You shake your sleeve ever so slightly, the tip of your oni-forged chain dropping into your hand, concealed from him.

[+] Battlefield alertness check.

Most spirit-children tend to specialize in a single weapon, occasionally two, the time and effort into learning multiple weapons being more difficult when you have to learn about your other abilities as well. Water dragonettes don't have that issue – everything is a weapon, and they all make perfect sense to you with even the smallest amount of practice. This usually confuses the hell out of most spirit children you fight.

Most Stone oni prefer long, flexible weapons, so they can use it to grab you and bring you to them. That he's using such a light wire is not surprising to you – if he manages to get a loop or two of that around your limbs, you can say goodbye to a whole lot of flesh and maybe a limb when he uses his enormous strength to cut through flesh and bone with it.

It's not terribly surprising when he whips another wire-equipped yo-yo at you in a wide arc, but the way his eyes widen when you perform a no-hands cartwheel sideways and kick the yo-yo up into the air is hilarious. You drop the length of chain and snap it out, missing his face by inches, before you catch the chain as it loops behind you with your other hand even while holding onto your wakizashi. Playing skip rope with it a couple of times (which is freakin' dangerous with a poisonous weapon in your hand, you might add) as he recovers his own weapon, you can feel the blood heating in his body as his humiliation turns to anger. You drop the chain with your right hand, wielding chain with your invulnerable left, your wakizashi with your right.
>>
>>36663983
He drops the length of wire – without the yo-yo, and narrows his eyes. Water Eyes can see he plans on using his power, but you're not entirely sure how....until he lashes out with the plain wire, the speed and thinness of the wire making it into a weapon as deadly as a razor blade. You tilt your head, looking at him incuriously, which seems to worry him a whole lot. Just before the wire reaches you, you move – TOWARDS the wire.

Suspecting a trick he yanks the wire back, even as you tread the end through one of the links of your chain and twist it. The end result is he has six pound of oni-forged steel hurtling back at him faster than he can react. He lifts his arm, and the chain slams into him, which doesn't bother him one bit.

Getting Ame-no-Omukade-no-Musume shoved into the back of his shoulder, above where the metal plate of his chest armor would be, bothers him a LOT.

You kick off his back into a back-flip, treating him like a wall, and land a dozen feet away. This gives you a nice view of the others. Akari is matching her opponent blow for blow, and is very carefully not letting him grab her; that must be the Wood oni. The Fire oni seems to have his hands surprisingly full of Er Yin, who isn't using any magic – what she's doing is half dance and half animalistic, and it's all he can do to keep her attention on him, because every time he tries to move away she goes for one of the Void dragonettes. Speaking of: Shoko is literally tearing one of them apart, and she's desperately using lightning and wind to deliver painful injuries to the enraged Water oni. She's not in a Blood Rage yet, but she's hurting. Yuuhi, on the other hand is trying to get past the twin daggers of another – every time she has an opening, she tries for the same dragonette Er Yin keeps trying to assault.

The only one still chanting.
>>
>>36663983
The oni turns around, black and crimson blood spilling into his white uniform, staining it. He drops the wires of his yo-yos and clenches both fists, bringing them together and hunkering down, almost in a sumo stance....more power. Very weird that he would discard the weapons.

[X] Let him attack and pull a fast attack again, they're working well.
[] Trade opponents with someone.
[X] Take out that chanting dragonette with Ame-no-Omukade-no-Musume.
[] Drop a Barrier on ~everyone~; dragonettes have more abilities in them than oni-children do.

“You know, it's not too late to surrender. No one's put up a barrier, no one's caused irreversible damage, no one's dead yet. Your people are well trained, but as far as holding actions go, every second the fight rages on puts it more in our favor, not yours.” You lower your wakizashi as he starts drawing upon his power, his muscles straining, his eyes wide and intense. You draw on your own power and surround your sword with it – not just wind, but water as well, wrapping it in a protective swirl. You hurl the weapon at him, but he tilts his head to the side slightly, dodging it easily.

“You throw your weapon at me and miss, and you expect me to surrender? Pathetic.” The concrete around him cracks, and you realize what he's doing – he's a Stone caller, he can manipulate stone the way Wood dragonettes manipulate plants. That could be extraordinarily bad for you. Of course, there's one thing he missed. They always miss it, they're always so self involved when they're fighting you.

“I wasn't aiming at you.”

His eyes widen and he glances back.

The Fire oni looks horrified, the breath of flame meant to destroy your sword instead vaporized the water and disrupting the wind that had surrounded it. The dragonette fighting Yuuhi cries out in alarm, and Yuuhi slices her heart in two – from the right side of her chest. The only other person remotely interested is the Void dragonette herself, who has a wakizashi jutting out of her throat via the spinal cord in her neck. Needless to say, she's stopped chanting. And breathing. And living. And anything else she's doing other than obeying gravity.

“FUCK!” He turns back to you and a small mountain of concrete and asphalt crashes over where you were. You would suspect his eyes would pop out of his head if they were any wider, because now you're standing in front of him. You rake both sets of claws up his chest – the right barely penetrating his skin, leaving harmless but painful slices....but your left hand is a whole 'nother thing. You rip deep furrows up his chest which spray blood all over you – another suit doomed to die, kamidamnit – and then you push off of his stomach....

And feel his hand close around your ankle.

He slams you to the ground, though you catch almost the entire impact on your left arm. The shattering concrete covers you in dust and your shoulder aches intensely, but thankfully you haven't torn any of the stitches in your right arm open. His grip on your ankle is agonizingly painful, the bones grinding together.

[X] Well, there's all this wire and chain here....
[+] Phlebotomy 101.

Most people would consider training with someone who can turn you into a pretzel one handed as an afterthought because they're so much stronger than you as a kind of punishment, or a special sort of hell. Likewise, being forced to spar against someone who can pick up a twig and kill you with it when you prefer to do things with your own claws and feet is tremendously unfair. But you and Akari are both special cases. You know how to deal with strong enemies, and she can use weapons that most other Stone dragonettes would sneer in disdain at. And when you combine the two....

You're sweeping up the wire and chains that your opponent discarded even as he lifts you up in the air. You curl up into a ball, as though preparing for the impact, but that's not what you are doing. A single loop of the wire about his wrist, and you hurl the chains to Akari with all your might. “AKARI! BRACE!” She sweeps away from her opponent, and catches the chains, looping a length about her back and snapping another to her free hand and taking a defensive stance. She blocks the Wood oni's hands with one part, and he starts bending, crushing and tearing the links. But that length isn't the one Akari is holding onto....

….which leads tot he wire that's looped around Stone-bone's wrist as he sends you hurtling towards the ground.

Any other spirit child, except perhaps certain youkai, has immense physical strength rooted in physics and flesh, with only a portion of it extending from the Shen of the spirit world. A stone dragonette, however, has ALL of her strength rooted in the very fabric of the spirit world. As a result, physics means very little to a Stone dragonette, even if she's bracing herself on a ledge of a building with no lip. As long as she's stronger than her opponent, she cannot be moved or bent.
>>
>>36665184
On the other hand, a Stone oni's strength is magnificent. They draw fully half of their strength and indestructibility from the Shen of the spirit world, and the rest from their amazing bodies. There is one fact that is inescapable....you can always injure yourself. You've always suspected it has to do with being able to commit seppuku, but that's just your theory. So when he attempts to smash you into the ground, his inarticulate scream of rage and pain, and the subsequent release of your ankle, are both expected results of him trying to pull Akari from where she's decided to stand.

As you roll to a stand some twenty feet away, you turn, looking at the ruins of the stone child's right hand, which is half severed from his arm and spurting clean red blood everywhere. He grips his wrist, attempting to stem the crimson tide....you manage to pull some extra blood from his wounds and his uniform is now almost soaked in red, but unfortunately you're not in a barrier so the effect is limited.

[X] Take a hard look.

You take a quick glance at the situation with your full attention through Water Eyes.

Your friend Stone-bones here is about to pinch off his wrist and seal it, and then he's going to go all out and kill you, probably by initiating Barrier Combat. If he includes the rest, you're good, but if he doesn't, there could be serious complications.

Yuuhi and Er Yin are both fighting the Fire oni-child, who is a nightmare of speed and skills; they're holding their own, but it's clear he's out for revenge. On the other hand, Yuuhi and Er Yin, while not being perfectly coordinated, are shouting in Ainu to each other and managing to keep him both isolated and on them without getting themselves killed. One misstep from anyone and there will be blood or ash.

Shoko is in dire straits. She has one hand wrapped around the Void dragonette's wrist, and isn't letting go for any reason whatsoever. This is good, because all she wants to do is flee, and the instant she's free of Shoko, she'll be nearly impossible to catch. This is bad, because her shining black metal talons are leaving deep wounds, and she's using the power of the void to electrify them – and Shoko as well. She's maybe one solid hit away from going berserk, but she's fighting in full defensive mode now, and the Void dragonette is having a hell of a time not getting slapped around. It's like watching two cats fight, if one had electric claws and the other was Frankenstein's monster.
>>
>>36665670
Akari is making headway – the addition of the now considerably shorter chain to her arsenal means the Wood oni is now on the defensive. No matter how fast you regenerate, broken bones and crushed organs will put you down long enough to be killed by your opponent. He's definitely planning to escape at the first opportunity, but Akari doesn't seem interested in letting him.

[] Finish him while you have the slim chance.
[] Assist Akari – she's fighting a nemesis herself.

Yes, but I don't think that finishing the oni and helping the others can be done fast enough that it would be different from finishing him off, and then help.

If he was not a Stone oni, I would have said to throw him at the dragonette. But we probably can't build the momentmûm to move him around right now, or at least not fast enough for it to be effective

[X] Finish him while you have the slim chance.
[x] Help Shoko take out the last Void dragonette.

No one is unscathed, but Shoko's taking a beating. She's simply not used to dealing with assassins who can use the Void. But Stone-bones here is by far the most serious problem. You can't kill him the way you did the others – you only have four inches of penetration with your left hand, so you can't strike his heart no matter how accurately or hard you hit him. His power over stone and earth presents another problem, and he's well aware of how you can move.

He wraps his left hand around his right wrist, and starts to squeeze....and you bolt. The ground shifts and moves under your feet, trying to clutch at you or slide out from under you, even though you are barely touching it with each step. He roars in pain as he staunches the blood fountaining from his wrist by the simple expedient of crushing his own flesh and twisting it around the bones to form a tourniquet. You are several feet away still and his mind is already clearing....

So you flense him.

Unlike the other time you used this, you use the powerful hydraulic forces of the deep sea as well as the hurricane force of the greatest winds. Blasting his open wounds with freezing cold salt water and hurricane force winds, you cause the chest wounds you made with your left hand to explode, ribbons of flesh and geysers of blood erupting from the poor bastards chest. Invulnerability is all well and good up until something pierces it – like an enchanted hand made of sapphire and empowered by a Stone dragonette's love.

His agonized cry of pain isn't a death knell. Not even that will put him down for good. It does eradicate any chance of him concentrating on any power at all, though. So when you leap up and twist, to put your entire body weight and all the force you can muster into a sword hand strike to his throat, not even the incredible resilience of a Stone oni-child can withstand it:

The sapphire talons of your left hand rip through his carotid, his trachea, and his esophagus, and foaming blood explodes all over you. Two more vicious blows later and you sever his spine and his head....which you immediately hurl with all the force you can must at the back of the Void dragonette's head in utter silence.

The bones of an oni are damn near solid, and he was already bulked out by his power, so the effect is roughly the same as if you hurled a small boulder at the back of the unwitting dragonette's head. Needless to say the resounding CRACK of her skull fracturing is enough to catch several people's attention, particularly Shoko's, who follows up with a right cross that puts that Void dragonette down, possibly for good.

Er Yin's scream makes your blood run cold, but it is followed by a shocked gasp as Yuuhi runs her nodachi through the bastard's gut and into the ground behind him. You hear her tell him to stop moving of she'll remove the sword the hard way. There is another gunshot-like crack from behind you which you recognize as the sound of a neck being broken, and Akari lands next to you an instant later, the Wood oni-child a dead weight held by the chains she's wrapped around his neck. Still breathing, unsurprisingly, but unconscious and paralyzed.

The Fire oni places a hand over his heart, and glances sidelong at you, noticing Akari next to you. “Damnit....” The Fire oni-child's voice isn't just familiar to you – you're intimately familiar with it. Akari's eyes widen and she makes an expansive gesture, which only you recognize, but an instant later she shouts at Yuuhi, “Yuuhi, retreat!” And sadly, you have to agree with her, because you're in some serious shit now.

It's your oldest cousin, and he hasn't used his full power yet!

[X] Signal to Akari to take him alive!

Even as you call upon the power of Magatama-no-Shitoki you make a single no-hands cartwheel over the dead body of the Void dragonette you killed, yanking your wakizashi from her throat and landing before your cousin. You slam the Barrier closed over the entire scene, dragging the dead as well as the living along with you with the power of the kami to do so faster than your cousin can act. You realize that it will reveal your secret, but at this point, you don't give a damn – interrogation or not, you absolutely cannot let Ryuu Hauko escape.

Escape, however, doesn't seem to be his plan. He covers his mouth with both hands and only your inhuman reflexes and familiarity with your cousin enable you to spring into action, grabbing Yuuhi and bringing her to the ground nearby, covering her with your body – and your power. Flames erupt all around your, hotter than any normal flame could ever be and definitely unnaturally potent even for a Fire-oni. He grabs the sword and flinks it away from himself.

Akari darts at him but he swiftly hops up and she blocks his kick with her other arm even as she tries to grab his ankle, knowing it is futile. He thrusts away from her and lads some distance away, turning to face all of you and the bodies you've left strewn about.

“Looks like we meet again for your final test,” Ryuu Hauko says, discarding his mask and burning away his ninja uniform. “You owe me for my tsubo.”

You roll to your feet placing yourself between Yuuhi and your cousin. “Teaching Clan Ryo techniques to outsiders, oni-chan? You must be desperate to make me fail. As you can see, I've grown quite a bit since last we fought, and I beat you then.” Slowly, you walk around him, as Akari maneuvers in the other direction; you gesture that you want him alive and she barely acknowledges, as always. You're not just stalking him, you also covering for Yuuhi-chan, who quickly grabs her sword; Shoko has wisely hunkered down near Er Yin, her power gleaming around her to protect them both from the flames he can create.

“You're not the only one,” he says as he invokes his Fire Heart....except instead of pure flame, the flames he conjures are black and violet, sickly, weird flames that aren't even Ghost Flame.

Yuuhi's sharp gasp prompts you to ask her what it is, because it's obvious she recognizes it. As your cousin's body swells, growing to massive proportions and becoming a high speed killing machine powered by the eternal fire of his rage, she says two horrifying words.

“....Pauchi Kamuy....”

Your cousin grins at you.

>>

I have time for a question or two.
>>
>>36667499
Thanks for running!

Would trying to kill him before he revealed his final form have worked?

Also, we're going to be a mess when dealing with those priests.
>>
>>36667558
Unless otherwise noted, can Ryukuza choose some/all choices? Just wanted to clarify this as there was some confusion earlier.
>>
>>36667558
This is a completely insignificant point, but it's been bugging me for a while: where do you get your information on Ainu people, particularly skin tone? Everything I've been seeing indicates that they have similar skin tones or darker skin tones than Japanese people, so your comment way back when about Kiki's... uh, predecessor?... having a pale skin tone like an Ainu when she's Japanese has really been bugging me. Like I said, it's a extremely minor and insignificant issue.
>>
>>36667530
According to Ryukusa's current information, Oba-san is actually an Ainu priestess who is supposedly possessed by Kinashut Kamuy, the god of snakes, and who kileld horobi by inflicting the venoms of a thousand Youkai on him to paralyze him in his sleep so they could safely kill him and his family.

The fact that it is a willing possession means that Kinashut is entirely in control, and not only has access to his own powers but all those available to the priestess. there isn't a way to counter such a possession that Er Yin or Kiku or Jinyuu know of outside death.

As for the otherquestion, dragonnes and dragonettes are spirit children of dragons and humans. They tend to be the most powerful of such unions with the exception of demigods because draqgons are the most powerful of the spirits, outside of Greater Kami like Susano-Oh, Amaterasu, and Ryujin.
>>
>>36667686
Oh, wait, I'm dumb. I see now where you're getting it. Objection withdrawn.
>>
>>36667530
>More important than a snake goddess

Probably not. She wouldn't have to wait to do shit, otherwise.

>This makes for an excellent question of just what Dragonnes/Dragonnettes are

Our good ol' red-headed child is probably just possessed by the Kamuy, like Oba-shit is occupying the body of a priestess.

He could be the actual reincarnation, but somehow I doubt it.

>>
>>36667608
>Would trying to kill him before he revealed his final form have worked?
Maybe. It's hard to tell, because far all practical purposes he is the oni version of what Ryukusa is - a potential demigod.

Unless he's ACTUALLY a demigod, but there's only one way to find that out....

>>36667639
Ryukusa is able to take multiple choices, and combine choices. She does have some limitations - chosing all of them might include mutually impossible choices (not contradictory ones necessarily, but simply impossible ones, like total defense and a sudden attack at the same time. Many of Ryukusa's choices are about how other people see her and react to her, especially her loved ones, so combining some choices can have detrimental effects on some people.

The reason she can do this is because her element type makes her unnaturally clever, giving her more choices, choices that include a psychic component, and the ability to combine them. Sometimes the order in which she choses to act on ehr chocies makes a significant difference as well.
>>
>>36667811
If another dragonette type was chosen at the beginning would she had gotten different ways to buck the voting system?
>>
>>36667730
If she were a more important god she would probably have even more restrictions on when and where she can act.

>>36667890
Just... just what is this?
>>
>>36667866
The voting styles and systems change - Akari had three well defined choices of which one could be chosen, while Kiku-chan had four hyperactive and emotionally charged choices of which one could be chosen. Shoko had four choices and a floating choice that could be used to gather information to help further a better choice that recharged every three votes.

>>36667799
Ammi-chan keeps that secret. Ryukusa doesn't do animals, but if it is Amaterasu-Omikami it can't be helped....
>>
>>36667975
Wait, if we chose a different type then we would have been a different character altogether? We would have been following around Ryukusa as she dicks around? I would be into that, actually. Er Yin Quest would have been so interesting, what with the "being blind" thing.
>>
>>36668015
We would still be Ryukusa, we'd just be a different type of dragonette. Our demigodhood would be different as well.

You would have had entirely different characters involved, yes as well as entirely different scenarios.

If you had chosen Wood dragoentte, your powersource would have been the spiritual essence of Aokigahara -the Forest of Suicides. Stone would have been Mount Fuji, Void would have been the Temple Mountain of Hokkaido, and Fire would have been the Volcano Iwo Jima. Most likely you would have encountered other dragonettes, though.
>>
>>36668015
Nah, we would have been another kind of Ryukuza, with the voting system of the relevant kind of dragonette. For example, Fire Ryukuza would have had the same voting system than Kiki.

Jesus. Would any of the options been not completely terrible for ascension? Stone would be Fuji erupting, and same for Fire. I can't imagine what Void would cause.

... Fuck, now I really want to see that - out of morbid curiosity if nothing else.

Of course they would all be terrible.

That's the point.

Void concerns itself with the ephemeral part of human existence.....thoughts, spirituality, the psyche. Imagine mass hysteria and insanity across Japan.

Really goign to bed now. Thank you again for reading and playing.

Okay, I get the hysteria part - but in the eyes of everyone who isn't a native or an immediate neighbor (border wise) Would it really be that strange or unexpected for so many people to turn out to be insane?

XS is running a quest?
How the fuck did I miss this?

I was planning on studying for my final tomorrow, but I guess that's a bust.
Time to read.

It gets even better, Anon. She has most of the quest in paste-bins, so you can binge on it during your trip.

The rebirth of said god would cause the God/spirit of it to exist. This would cause most/all of the population of Japan to understand that, to BELIEVE in it even. Human psyches probably can't take that.

XS, you are creating something both horrifyingly real and horrifyingly dawww. Thank you.

The most common diagnosis for people who see and hear deific being talking to them is schizophrenia. A kami is a spirit of an object, creature or place that is over 100 years old, and cared for and worshiped, good or bad.

Now imagine an entire culture going utterly schizophrenic all at the same time, because they can all hear and see the gods and monsters and demons around them - and interact with them spiritually and physically. Chaos would be the least of the problems - the gods coming out of the woodwork would be the real issue.

Sadly, the pastebin has issues, but searchign Ryukuza in the title search section of Suptg will give you all the quest threads.

That sounds a lot like a zombie apocalypse scenario. I guess the countermeasure would be similar to that, too: quarantine the entire area, hope the Japanese people overseas didn't go insane, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint and wait until all of this blows over.
