You...

You're Akari Takamichi, a wickedly-strong Pyrokineticist, and... you feel odd.

Your breathing is regular, as is your pulse.

You... right, you just had one of those Psi-amp things implanted into your skull.

You open your eyes to see the orange-haired little girl that Precia Testarossa has become, standing at (or, rather, /on) the foot of the rather generic hospital bed you're laid atop.

“Hey, Red,” she snickers, “you're fired.”

You blink at her.

She giggles. “Get it? FIRE-d?”

She stops after a few moments, tilting her head curiously.

“Oh, right. You can't see.” She looks around the room, then frowns.

“No mirrors, huh...?” She shrugs, then, and says, “Your head's on fire.”

You reach a hand up and...

Honestly? I think the current poster stat thing is kinda wonky.
If I'm to trust it, then there's only one person besides myself here.
Unless the OP doesn't count, in which case, the little indicators that show when a new poster has made his first post are broken as all hell (which, judging by the way they go away whenever one refreshes the page, is almost certain).

Still, though
dat honkin'
>>
>>36570018
Yeah, I suppose it might just be a bit wonky and there are lurkers (in which case, OY! Contribute to the fucking conversation here!), but since we're sharing a computer it's technically accurate that we count as 1 poster/IP address and 2 voters at the same time.

You blink. “Oh. So it is.”

Precia stops to gape at you. “... that's it? That's your reaction?”

You shrug. “I'm sure it'll pass,” you say, waving a hand dismissively at the robot-girl, “besides,” you continue, “this has happened before, y'know? And it was a lot worse, too.”

She pouts and crosses her arms. “You're less fun than Blondie,” she states, “at least Blondie has interesting fetishes... disturbing? Sure. But not the same old boring 'I like flat chests and pale skin and if I ever get her in a maid's outfit I'll cream my pants' stuff that you're into.”

What.

You stare at the girl, whose words have managed to wipe your mind clear of all possible points of conversation, save for various iterations and pronunciations of the word 'What'.

You take a moment to gather your thoughts, staring at the strange girl all the while.

You... You never even /thought/ of a maid outfit...
… Wait, no, that's not it!
Still, though, you file the idea away for... later.

...

She frowns. “What? Why are you staring at me like that? It's not like what I said wasn't true or anything.”

Y'know, it's a lot harder to count votes when you guys pick two options and I haven't said 'pick as many as you like' or 'pick any two' or what-have-you.

Especially conversational options, y'know?

If you just pick one choice, conversation's a lot more fluid, a lot easier to write, and can be done in shorter (and more numerous) posts.

Precia shifts uncomfortably. “H-hey. What're you staring at me for?”

“C-c'mon, stop it! What'd I do to you, huh?”

You stare at her for a few more moments, then shake your head.

“Her name is Fate,” you say, calmly, evenly, as if explaining something to a child- which seems more and more like it's the case- “and she's your daughter.”

Precia stares blankly at you for a moment or two.

“I... what?” She blinks. “That... you're... you're fuckin' with me, right? You're...” She frowns.

“That's... it's...” She looks down at her hands for a moment and goes silent.

You almost think she's not got anything else to say, but, after a couple of seconds that seem like an eternity-and-a-half, she mutters, without looking up, “I... I'm not-”

She looks up at you. You can see tears welling up in her eyes, which are a shade of purple- one not dissimilar to your eyes' color.

Briefly, you wonder if they can be called 'tears' at all, coming from an artificial body and what-not; even assuming they're a saline solution... the notion passes as quickly as it came as you recognize the genuine emotion in those tears- in her voice. If those aren't tears, you don't know what is.

Trails of moisture begin making their ways down the synthetic skin of her cheeks. “Y-you're... you're telling the truth... aren't you?”

>“I am.”
>“Ask her yourself.”
>“I don't think I need to tell you that.”

Yeah, she IS a monster.
Bur the fact she appears to regret what she did and the fact she didn't know Fate was her daughter makes me pity her a bit.
Had I seen the thread earlier, I would definitely have voted for something a bit more tactful.
>>
>>36572133
Precia MADE her, I'd bet that it was less "not knowing" and more "not caring", which is admittedly much better than her absolutely psychotic attitude in canon. This does raise an interesting question though: can they reconcile? This version of Fate seems much more jaded and cynical than canon's, so I'm not sure if she would even be willing to let Precia back into her life if she asks.

Realization... and something else. Guilt? Remorse? Shame? Sorrow?

>>
>>36572182
I guess it'll depend on how much Precia wants to reconnect, how sincere she is and how far she is willing to go to show she wants to make up for what she did.

Honestly, this Precia is not actively malicious so much as she is immature, lacking in empathy and completely fine with letting others suffer for the sake of her projects.
And I'm willing to bet she doesn't think much of the pain she causes other people because she thinks she is doing a good thing and other people would understand, or because she thinks what she does is important enough to justify the suffering.

I realise I'm rambling a bit, but what I mean is that I believe she Can become a better person, if given the right lessons and incentive.
>>
I thought early on in the quest Precia knew Fate was her daughter. Did she just forget at some point?

>>
>>36572380
More like she believed Fate was a daughter in the "she's my experiment, so she's sorta like my daughter" and did not realize Fate thought of her as her actual mother. That or she knows she had a daughter but didn't know that Fate was the child.
Or something.
>>
>>36572345
I dunno, she dismembered Fate just for asking a question, I don't think you can explain that away as just forgetfulness.
>>
>>36572481
I don't remember Precia ever calling Fate her daughter before now, actually.
Perhaps someone could check the archives?
>>
You sigh. It's with a sad shake of your head that you inform her of the nature of her transgressions.

She's sobbing, now.

“... You've hurt her more than you could possibly imagine, you know.”

She nods, her whole body shaking with the sobs wracking her small frame, and wipes her face dry with a sleeve.

“I... I have a daughter,” she says, more to herself than anything else, her voice shaky, “and...”

She makes a choking sound.

… Miku really goes the extra mile with her creations, doesn't she?

“And I really fucked things up. For her... and for us, as a family...”

She pauses, shaking her head a little. “But...” She looks you in the eyes. “I can make things right. I can... and I will.”

After a moment, she nods at you. “... Thank you.”

And, with that, she turns and walks out the door, leaving you all alone in a sterile, white room.

You let out a deep breath.

You slip out of the bed, intent on finding your love, only to realize that you're barefoot.

You take a cursory glance around the room, and…

Ah! There. Your clothes are folded neatly in a chair, your shoes beneath it. There's also a plastic package there, resting atop your stack of clothing- it looks like it contains the charger for your Psi-amp.

You shed your hospital gown as you pad across the cool, tiled floor, noticing several things at almost exactly the same time.

1) Your hair, which is still ablaze, didn't burn the gown when you pulled it over your head.

2) You're aware of the coolness of the floor- and the air in the room.

3) You're wearing the underwear with the flaming hearts on them.

4) The room is cool because the door is partially open, and (unless that ball-mirror-thingie in the corner of the room is some sort of magical mirror that makes people who aren't you look like Mato) Mato's head is peeking in.

You look over at Mato, making eye contact.

You stare into those pretty blue eyes of hers as you pad the rest of the way over to the chair, and, after watching you pull on your spats, she steps inside the room and closes the door behind herself, her face completely red.

You're not sure why, but, for whatever reason, Mato happens to be Big!Mato at the moment. You're almost finished getting dressed- donning your left sock, to be precise- when Mato, apparently having had enough, turns away.

“Akari- look, I didn't mean to... I peeked in the door, and there you were, undressing. I didn't realize you'd be... y'know... okay?”

You snicker. “I was just messing with you, Mato,” you say, before realization hits you. “Mato... did you just... talk?”

She turns to face you again, laughing and scratching the back of her head. “Heheh, yeah, I guess I did.” She gestures towards you, still grinning. “You seem pretty different, too... did you get a haircut or something?”

You laugh in spite of yourself.

Mostly because of how silly the attempt at humor was, as opposed to the quality of the... 'joke'.

Mato joins you in laughing. “Sorry, that was terrible,” she admits.

You finish getting yourself dressed and stuff the package with the charger in it into one of Mato's coat-pockets.

She raises an eyebrow, and you turn out your skirt's pockets. “Too small,” you say, and she nods.

Mato glances around the room, then frowns. “So... where's Testarossa? She told me she'd be checking in on you, and then she'd be back to let me know if you were ready to go or not.” Her eyes narrow, and you figure you'd better explain before Mato gets angry.

Nobody likes it when Mato gets angry.

Then again, nobody likes it when the Hulk gets angry, either, so that probably goes without saying.

“She wasn't lying,” you tell her, “she just got a little...” You clear your throat. “...Side-tracked? Yeah. Side-tracked. That's a good word for it.”

Mato's scowl persists, though. “Side-tracked by what?”

You bite your lip. Partly because it's kinda hard to explain, and partly because... Mato's really intense like this... and you must admit, you kinda dig it.

You nod in agreement. “I felt the same way. I guess, at this point, I just hope Fate-chan's alright, y'know?”

Mato smiles a little at that. “She'll be fine, I think. Fate-chan's as tough as nails, and twice as sharp.” Her smile widens. “Besides,” she adds, “she's not alone- she's got the two of us, and all the rest of her friends!”

You snort at that. You don't remember Mato being quite so cheesy before. “Not to mention Mokarin,” you say, “unless you're telling yourself that those two are just 'friends'.”

The two of you share a laugh at that.

The two of you make your way to the apartment in which both yourself and your older sister live with little trouble.

People staring at an abnormally-tall girl holding hands with a girl whose hair is on fire is pretty low on the 'trouble' scale, you figure.

You reach the door and see that it bears a note with Akane's surprisingly-fancy handwriting on it.

It says, “I'll be spending the night in you-know-who's bed, so don't worry about Nee-chan, okay?”

Well, technically, it says that, but with more hearts and smiley-faces.

You shrug, trying to do the exact opposite of envisioning Nee-chan and Miku-chan partaking in... amorous activities... and failing only a little.

You reach for- and turn- the knob, only to find that the door won't budge.

It's locked, and you've no key.

You sigh and start to apologize to Mato when she gently shoulders you aside. “I got it,” she says, producing a key from the depths of her coat and slipping it into the lock.
She gives it a twist and a push, and, presto, the door swings open.

You gape at her.

“What? Akane-neesan gave me a key.”

You blink, filing the fact that Mato already refers to your sister as '-neesan' away for later review, then ask, “Is there anything else Nee-chan did that I should know about?”

She scratches her chin. “... Could you be more specific on the 'that I should know about' part?”

You pout at her, and she blushes a little. “She, uh... she also said that if I broke your heart, she'd break Miku-nee's pelvis... with /her/ pelvis.”

… you can feel your cheeks warming.

… Oh, you're /blushing/, aren't you?

You clear your throat and usher Mato inside, closing the door behind you.

You stretch upwards, arching your back and holding your arms above your head, then sigh.

“I'll make dinner,” you say, “I bet you're starving, right?”

Mato shrugs. “Eh, not really.”

You stare at Mato.

She...

Your hands dart to her tummy, moving up and down and left and right and feeling every inch of skin.

She even has the same scars...

If this is an imposter, she's the greatest, sexiest imposter you've ever heard of.

No, she's no imposter.

She's just... not hungry.

You don't know what to think.

How are you supposed to react to something like this?

Is this how Will Smith felt when his mom sent him to live with his aunt and uncle in Bel-Air?

You feel like your life has been flip-turned upside-down.

Mato isn't hungry.

You frown.

She's not an imposter.

So she must be sick!

You stand up on your tip-toes.

“Say, “aaaah,” Mato,” you say, looking into Mato's mouth.

She blinks, but complies. “Aaaaah.”

You squint. Yep. Her throat looks normal. And her teeth are nice and pearly.

You take a step back and frown.

“Akari...?”

“Sssshhh, shhhh, shhhh,” you put a finger on her lips, “don't worry, everything's gonna be okay,” you whisper. You think for a moment. What else- oh, right!

“Akari, what are you-”

“Not now, Mato,” you say, “I need you to drop your pants and cough.”

She blinks. “W-what?”

Oh, right- no wonder she's confused! “Your panties, too.”

Her face reddens. “Akari, that's not-”

“Mato. Please.”

[REDACTED]

Mato coughs, and you frown.
… What were you supposed to be watching for, again?

You kinda got distracted staring at Mato's... AHEM.
Oh, and there's that fascinating warmth in your cheeks, again.

… Anyways, it seems Mato is in good health. Perfect health, in fact.

YOU are Mato Tsuruya, and... you think you broke Akari.

She's just... standing there.

Staring off into space.

You wave a hand in front of her face, and she mutters, “Mato... not... hungry...”

“Akari, are you okay?”

She rocks back and forth a little. “Mato isn't hungry,” she mumbles, over and over again.

Doing the same to her for 'revenge' isn't something Mato would do, anon.

I made it an option because it's shocking.

Not for petty revenge, which is what anon stated as his motive.

Also, internet problems = delays, post incoming soon
>>
There's only one thing in this universe potent enough to fix something like this, you think.

The mighty HUG.

You reach out, wrap your arms about Akari's body, and envelop her in a hug.

She's warm- warmer than usual, even- and, somewhat unnervingly, she doesn't respond to your embrace.

She doesn't hug you back, she doesn't snuggle up closer to you, she doesn't even squirm and struggle to escape your grasp.

She just stands there.

You adjust your grip on her, sliding her upwards so that her feet are off the ground and her head is level with yours.

Nothing.

It's how certain subspecies (particularly the ones that are too pure to know what "sex" is and does) of megucas reproduce.
>>
You narrow your eyes.

There's only one thing left to do.

You press your cheek to hers... and rub.

You rub your faces together with all your might (not literally, though. You prefer her face with skin on it!)

You rub and you rub and you rub-rub some more.

After some more rubbing, it becomes apparent that it's not working.

Maybe you need to be side-by-side for it to work?

You carry Akari over to the couch, sit her down, and plop down beside her.

You take her hand into yours, and then you move in for the kill.

You press your cheek against hers, and nuzzle the everliving daylights out of her.

In fact, at one point, you think you might have been purring.

You're not sure when, exactly, it was, but, at some point, Akari snapped out of it.

You didn't stop, though.

You can't be certain, but... it almost seems like, rather than hunger for food, you have hunger for... this stuff?

Objectively speaking, you probably seem rather desperate, given you're rubbing your face against someone whose head is on fire.

Still, though.

You can totally stop any time you want.

But... who would ever want to stop this? It's so wonderful~!

>side-effects of Psi-amps including 'increased lewdness' might not be so far off.
Add 'increased chance of BSOD'ing' to that.
Unless Mato not being hungry or turning down food is such an uncommon event that it instantly breaks poor Akarin.
>>
>>36579565
... BSOD?
What is that? Blank Stare Of Death or something?
I'm pretty sure RROD is Red Ring Of Death, so it's either that or maybe BlueScreen O' Death.

It's SOMETHING SOMETHING Of Death, at least.

And, actually, the latter is true.
Mato no longer needs to transform, and no longer has to sustain her body AND transformation into Big!Mato AND Big!Mato herself (also her powers work more efficiently, now, because that's most of what Psi-amplification is, really), so it's only natural that she no longer has to inhale every morsel of food she finds.

And, if you would, keep in mind that Mato and Akari have been rather close for a couple of years, now.

It's like... like, if Hitler, half-way through WWII, went out and was like 'JEWS ARE GREAT AND I LOVE THEM. JEWS MASTER RACE" or something.

Everyone would just stand there and mutter, "Hitler... loves jews...?"

Because that'd be unimaginable, yo.
