Arriving at the college airport, something you didn’t know existed; you are processed through security quickly under the watchful eye of the headmistress. Even the security people seem to move faster because of it, you’re glad that it’s not just you. Finally you’re through, some of the girls taking a little more time due to their unfamiliarity with flying or technology in general. Akitsu’s chains especially gave the men fits, but she got waved through after they determined it was nothing more than chain.

Stepping into the cabin of the aircraft, you gasp a little as you see the interior. It is luxurious beyond your expectations, all leather and comfy looking seats.

“This is our ride,” says the Headmistress as she smirks next to you.

“I guess it’s a little better than the bus,” you manage as the girls start to take seats.

You’re left with a few choices yourself.

You immediately notice that Selvaria and Akitsu don’t look to sure about the whole idea of flying. Moving over to them, you take a seat in the middle, within easy reach of both.

“You girls ok?” you ask them as you buckle your seatbelt.

“I must admit to not liking the idea of shooting through the air at high-speeds,” says Selvaria, her face slightly tight as she copies your actions.

“I am fine now that you are here Ashikabi-sama,” says Akitsu, already buckled in.

“That’s good,” you say to Akitsu, patting her hand before turning to Selvaria. “Flying is incredibly safe,” you tell her, “Safer than driving.” She doesn’t look convinced, but she does give you a nod.

It takes a few minutes for the flight crew to settle in, but you soon hear the engines spinning up behind you. You see Selvaria twitch and Akitsu turns to look, but you’ve flown several times before so you simply settle in to the remarkably comfy chair. You feel the airplane begin to move after the engines hit their stride, heading towards the runway.

As you reach the runway and feel the plane straighten out for takeoff, you see Akitsu tense and Selvaria’s face sinks a little.

You immediately offer your hand to Akitsu, who besides being tense, seems to like physical contact with you in the first place. She immediately takes your hand, her body relaxing and a look of calm coming over her face as your hand interlinks with hers. Turning to your left, you see Selvaria with her eyes closed. You don’t think that taking her hand by yourself would be a good idea, so you don’t do so. You do however lightly touch her arm, which causes her to look up at you. You give her a reassuring smile as the engines hit full power and the brakes release, the plane starting to roll forward.

Turning your head back to the front, you close your eyes as the soft press of acceleration pushes you into the seat. You feel Akitsu’s hand grip yours tighter as you begin to speed up, though you think she’s fine. Ten seconds into the run, you glance over to Selvaria. Her face is still tight, but she seems to be handling it well enough.

A few more seconds is all it takes for the plane to reach takeoff speed, the ground seeming to lurch out from underneath you as you leave the ground. It’s here that you feel Selvaria’s hand reach out and grip onto your upper arm, the closest thing besides her arm rest. Looking over at her briefly, her eyes are still shut, but she seems to take some solace from the fact that you’re not worried.

It takes a few minutes for the plane to reach cruising altitude, the landing gear retracting causing both Selvaria and Akitsu to jump slightly, but they soon calm down as you level out.

Akitsu seems to be reluctant to let go of your hand, but does anyway as she settles in for the flight. Selvaria finally opens her eyes, a tinge of worry still visible in them as she lets your arm go.

“You ok?” you ask her as she settles down beside you.

“I…will be ok,” she says, “Thank you.”

You smile at her once more, which she returns with a tight smile of her own.

You realize something as you look back at your group of celestial harem members. Perhaps there is another way to bring Tatsuko’s family back without resorting to Deus-Slendy Machina. Not that you’re against using her help if you need to, but you’d feel a little better if you could do it yourself and not break any laws of this universe.

Unbuckling yourself, you head back to the small grouping of chairs that the angels have claimed.

“John,” says Mehisha, nodding to you as you stand over them, “Are you well?”

“I’m fine,” you say, taking a knee next to Ragsmuena, who looks at you with what you’d guess is curiosity, “But I need to ask you something.”

“About what?” asks Elizasleyn.

“Can you bring people back from the dead?” you state simply.

There is silence from the group as they all stare at you, eyes wide.

“I take it that’s a no?” you say.

“It…it’s not impossible,” says Elizasleyn, glancing at Ragsmuena, who looks conflicted, “It’s just that there…it just hasn’t been done successfully in over two thousand years.”

“But it can be done?” you ask.

“It is not something done lightly,” says Melodiana, drawing your attention, “Death does not relinquish what rightfully belongs to it easily.”

“Equal exchange,” says Ragsmuena, “Is the easiest, a life for a life. But I do not think you would do that.”

“No,” you say, “There are four of them, I couldn’t do it the way you say even for one.”

“There are other ways…” says Elizasleyn, “But none of them work very well. You may be able to help with your powers, but it would still likely be a drain.”

“Why do you want to bring back four people?” asks Mehisha.

“It’s a promise to someone,” you say, not looking at Tatsuko, “An accident happened when they woke up, some people died. They want them to come back.”

Ragsmuena gets thoughtful after you say that.

The Headmistress seems to have fallen asleep, her head lolling slightly as the flies on, with everyone else either talking or simply sitting in their seats, a few with the in-flight entertainment systems going.

Looking at the Headmistress sleeping, you get the feeling that she doesn’t actually get to rest very much when she’s working. You probably don’t help with her workload either, especially with the whole world traveling thing. Looking up, you don’t see an overhead bin, so no blankets there. But moving towards the front brings you to the stewardess, who seems to be respecting your group’s privacy for the moment.

“Can I help you?” she asks with the standard perky smile.

“Do you have a blanket and a pillow?” you ask.

“Certainly sir,” she says, turning to her station and bringing out a rather nice fuzzy blanket and a pillow that seems sized for the chairs you have.

“Thank you,” you say, before turning back into the main cabin. Unfolding the blanket, you gently lay it over the Headmistress, who doesn’t seem to notice beyond shifting just slightly. The pillow you’re more careful with, lifting her head just enough to slip the pillow underneath. Backing away, she looks more comfortable than before, a soft snoring coming from her as she sleeps. You smile to yourself, before turning to the bar and drinks with your girls.

“Looking forward to the beach John?” asks Akeno as you pour yourself a soda.

“Yeah,” you say, “Can’t wait to see what you all picked out to swim in.”

Akeno gets the mischievous look you know all too well on her face, before bringing her drink up and taking a sip.

“I guess you’ll just have to wait and find out then,” she says.

You just chuckle, spending the rest of the flight lightly talking with everyone who is awake besides the angels. Eventually you return to your seat as the pilot calls for landing. Repeating your hand holding with Akitsu and Selvaria, you are all quickly shuffled off the plane and into a nice bus. Driving out of the airport, you notice that the area around you is relatively quiet looking meaning that this is probably one of those hidden resort towns that only a few people know about.

Driving up to the Inn, your eyes widen once more. It looks like one of the very nice, very fancy old fashioned ones still run by the same family of innkeepers that have been there X generations and all of their ancestors…you have the picture.

Standing in front of it with the Headmistress, your group stares for a little before she turns to all of you.

“This Inn is run by friends of the college, so I expect you to behave,” she says, pointedly looking at you and Karasuba, “Other than that, this is a reward so do enjoy yourselves. We have eight rooms, seven doubles and one single, so figure out how you want to organize yourselves.”

Every eye turns to you. It looks like the big decision gets placed on your shoulders.

“I’ll take the single,” you say after quickly running through the list of ways your girls could possibly hurt, maim, kill or otherwise inconvenience you without trying. Not that they would, but not picking favorites is generally the best to keep it that way.

“Right,” says the Headmistress, “Me and Ms. Black will be sharing a room, the rest of you can pair up as you wish.”

After that it breaks down into the general pairs. Tatsuko and Akeno, Chris and Nanoha, Imca and Riela, Melodiana and Mehisha, Elizasleyn and Ragsmuena all pair up. Kaname and Kaede also pair up, with Akitsu and Selvaria falling together by default.

“Lunch will be served in about an hour,” says the Headmistress, “So you can do as you want until then. I suggest you unpack slightly so you’re ready for this afternoon.”

Everyone nods, being directed inside by the kindly inn-keeper woman. Surprisingly the inside is relatively modern looking, older features still clearly visible, but the place is clearly run with an air system and you catch sight of more modern looking conveniences throughout, though mostly hidden away.

Reaching your room, the end of the hall with the rest of the rooms all the way down it, you enter. A surprisingly large bed greets you, along with the rest of the room. Unpacking takes you about ten minutes, leaving you with plenty of time to visit someone if you wanted. You could also rest or poke around the inn until it’s time for lunch.

You decide to go exploring, an Inn this big and nice must have plenty of places hidden away, like a bath or hot spring. Making sure you grab your room key, you head out and downstairs, your room being on the third floor while you assume most of the amenities will be on the first floor.

Skipping the second floor, you take the left wing of the Inn first. This end is apparently the more old fashioned area, with a tea room and access to a combined baths/hot spring area. It is unfortunately separated by gender, but you suppose that’s generally for the best, most people aren’t as good looking as your girls. There are a few more areas around, but not of great interest to you.

The right wing has some more interesting areas, among them the dining room in the right/central area, along with what looks like a possible massage area, a workout room and several other more modern add-ons to the Inn. Having mostly finished your exploring, for the moment, you turn to head back to your room to wait out the time until lunch.

Heading up the stairs, you find your first people on the second floor landing.

“Nee-san,” says the reddish/brown haired girl, “When’s it time for lunch, I’m hungry.”

“Soon,” says the tall, imposing and strong looking girl with her.

The two of them turn to you, causing you to pause.

They both seem surprised by your appearance, before the black haired one leans in and looks at you more closely.

“…Do I know you?” she asks.

“Yes,” you say to the girl instinctively, before remembering that you didn’t actually see her in this world, but the one belonging to Tatsuko and Chris, “We fought briefly once, you said you wanted to fight me again at full power. We were restrained a bit at the time.”

The girl, whose name you never did get, tightens her eyes a bit, before widening them once more.

“You!” she says excitedly, “You’re the one who hit me and then never came back.”

“Yeah, I think that’s me,” you say with a small grin.

“Nee-san?” asks the other girl, whose name you also don’t know.

“You and I are going to fight soon,” she says, pointing at you, “Very seriously.”

“Ahh…” you say, “I’m not sure that’s a good idea…”

“Of course it is!” says the girl, clearly beyond reasoning with on this point, “You will be ready for me tomorrow!” With that the girl storms off down the hallway, probably towards her room. You shake your head, surprised by your encounter. You finish your journey up to the third floor, just in time to see everyone else heading towards you down the hallway.

“There you are John,” says Kaname, out in front of the group, “Already looking around?”

“Yeah,” you say, falling in with them as they head downstairs, “Explored some, met some people, got challenged to a fight.”

“You what?” asks Kaname, turning her head towards you, several other heads focusing on you as well, including Chris.

“Well I met an old acquaintance,” you say, “From back when we were uh, hopping around. Chris knows her. She wants to fight me again.”

Chris’s eyes go wide. “She’s here?” she asks, to which you nod. She turns to Tatsuko. “Momoyo’s here,” she says, to which your blue haired cuddle bug’s eyes open wide.

“Bad,” Tatsuko says, succinctly summing up her feelings on the matter.

“I know it’s not great,” you say, “But it can’t be that bad can it?”

“Yes it can,” says Chris, as all of you enter the dining room, taking seats around the large table, “I’m not sure how powerful she is, only one person ever “beat” her and she cheated. Tatsuko fought her to a draw once though.”

Tatsuko nods along with Chris’s comment.

“So are you going to fight her?” asks Karasuba.

“I don’t know yet,” you say, even as someone comes in bearing trays of food in each hand.

Your eyes go wide, as do Karasuba’s.

“Oh, did I hear something about fighting?” asks the lavender haired woman, even as an even worse person comes in behind her.
