I am Maria of House Antioch, bearer of the Raven's seal, and, right now, wondering what I got myself into. Or so I would, if I wouldn't feel so wonderfully relaxed -if confused- right now. My friends -cause that's what they are- are sitting together with me, and whatever it was that Liliana gave us seems to already be having an effect. An intersting one.

Really, I'll have to remember not to get too used to this or it could be a problem. My muscles all tingle really nicely, though it feels slightly as if my will's not reaching them as quickly. Hmm, I'll need to investigate that a bit further or it could be trouble. I wave off Liliana's attempt to offer me the silver pipe again and stand up, spreading out my arms. Oh, that's nice too, like being near a fire, each little motion setting off another series of pleasant prickles on my skin.

Slowly, I spin around, my head tilted while I look at the elbaorate black-and-white tile patterns on the walls with new fascination. Thered-on-white drawn wall hangings seem to take on a new meaning, the flowing script that takes up their entire lenght seeming to pulse and vibrate slightly. It's quite amazing how different the world looks like this!

Hmm, seems my body's a little slower but otherwise in order. I do another slow spin around my own axis, rotating my wrists while humming, enjoying the way the note seems to shake out any kinks and tension I was feeling on its way. Hah, nice!! It's not going to replace my rites but by the gods this really does help in a pinch.

Satisfied, I sit back down, noticing that Liliana and Helena are grinning at each other and myself. Somehow, I can't help but grin back.

"Hey, had to make sure I can still fight you, know!" It's only normal to checks such things, come on even you should get that. If they don't get now, I'll just have to teach them. They're wonderful, cute and smart people, they'll understand, I'm sure.

Liliana just nods, knowingly. Those lights enveloping her just keep on dancing, and while I can't quite /see/ Helena's radiance it's still there and keeps giving off this strange warmth I can't quite understand.

"How long have you been, you know, like that?!" It's not every day that you just meet someone who glows and hums like that after all, at least not where I come from. She'll probably think it's silly, but hey, she's gonna understand so it's all quite fine. Should I take another one… hmm, no, this is quite fine this way.

The orange haired girl sucks on the stem thoughtfully before handing it back to Helena. That girl's way better at this than I thought possible. I mean it's kind of expected with Liliana I guess but Helena's not one to be left behind. Well she's gotta know what's good for her, I'm not her Senra; I'd be terrible at that kind of thing.

Liliana fixates me, then shrugs before answering. "Like, been a cleric? S' been a while, Ma couldn't afford all us kiddies no more so instead 'o letting us starve or sellin' us off she gave three to relatives n' me to tha temple". Eeep, things seem really rough outside the Empire. I move to apologize, but she holds up her hand.

"S' fine, things like that happen, and when ya got lotsa carin' folks 'round ya s' no big deal when ya scarce can't remember your ma's face no more. 'sides". She taps first her chest then her forehead, "He's always there if I need me some comfort".

"…he?", I ask, still a bit confused by how easy she seems to be taking all this. Then again, I've heard similar on the streets, it's just that I couldn't ever think what I'd have done without my parents.

"Oh, you know, Yulemai, right? Uhm, you're not of The Faith, eh?" Liliana nods in thanks and accepts the pipe back from Helena, who leans against the wall with her head leaned back, looking at the distant arched ceiling as it it were the most interesting thing in the world.

Huh, so this seems like one of the few things that seem to get her to calm down, then? Interesting though I'm not sure why it would be important. Then again, why is anything important unless you give it importance in the first place? Uhm right, Liliana asked me something.

I shake my head.

"No, uhm, I went to temple school and we paid respect to Sharsee but… no, we followed the Way of Harmony back home". She'll not mind, will she? Eh, probably not, she seems okay like that.

"Ah, yer the type that prays to buildings and such?" Liliana asks, shrugging as Helena refuses to take the pipe back from her. Guess even she has limits. Pray to buildi-- eep, why is that the first thing everyone mentions?

"It's… complicated", I begin, wondering how to explain, but Liliana waves me off.

"S' no problem, anyway. We of the faith, like, those who really serve at a temple, we got like this connection to our deity, right? Like, part of our god's inside us". Huh. Talk about weird. Thinking that there's something divine in all things is nothing compared to that!

"Is this why you're glowing like that?", I ask, hoping the question's not too rude.

"That's like, my aura's what they call it. Yea, you can see it sometimes though honestly's rare that you'd see it. Really haven't seen mine a lot for a while, hehe. Might be this blessing opening your eyes, eh?" I just nod. I've seen enough strange things to not really question this for now. Liliana sucks on the pipe one last time before looking into the bowl, shrugging and putting it away.

"To friendship", she says, holding out her hand, then grasping my arm so my hand is on her lower arm and hers on mine instead.

"To friendship", I agree, her touch making me tingly really nicely all over.

We repeat the same with Helena who seems hard-pressed to stay awake right now.

"Light, but I'm hungry!" Liliana states, and I remember my failed attempt at cooking from last night. Really, if she's a friend -and that's what we just became- then it would be terrible of me not to cook for her too! How to ask? Uh, that's right, Maria, just take the shortest road!

"What do you like to eat? I mean, when it's up to you and such?" I ask, addressing them both though Helena might already be half-asleep for all I know.

"Hm? Me? I like Bread Crusted fish, redspine being the best but hey you always gotta try new things. Hm, maybe a white wine to go along with it". Liliana's answer surprises me a bit, I'd have thought she'd go for something a little more… out there, I guess?

"Honey comb candy!" Helena suddenly says, startling me. I guess when it's about food she's immediately present?

"That's not really a meal, right?" My question makes her half-closed eyes shoot open, and she glares at me, indignant.

"It is! You eat it, so it's food!". Hmm. Well, I guess you can't really argue with that.

"Are you certain you should be doing this out here?" a new voice asks, making me jump slightly. The girl who helped us this morning -Mara, was that her name- is standing only a few paces away, a broom held on one shoulder. Huh, when did she actually manage to get here? She can't do cloudwalk too, now can she?

I don't think anyone does so far except maybe Talan's boss (not any of the main cast in that case obviously), it's more that I find Thalian the limpest noodle of a character we've met so far, and among the least interesting character-wise (maybe RHP is less interesting but she makes up for it with being entertainment). Obviously he's not very developed yet so you could say he has potential, but then on the other hand that's just saying 'there's no reason yet to like hm but he could be likeable' so I dunno. I'm not sure I'm going to keep Maria's expression like that. It doesn't convey similar kind of muted excitement despite pain like last weeks WIP.

They were standing atop one of the watchtowers, the wind in their faces as they stood hand in hand, the taller behind the shorter. The watchtowers were named more for their use in observing the clouds and stars, rather than as a defensive measure – though in times past they had served that purpose as well. They stood between two crenelations, and the breezes whipped their skirts against slender legs.

Neither was cold. The taller girl' white hair was loose for once, let free to tangle in the stiff autumn breezes. It was her blood that kept both of the girls warm, but the smaller of the two could have ignored the chill if she had chosen to. At this moment she was not using her hard won disciplines and mental rites to do so, because tonight she wanted to experience everything properly.

“You know that you do not have to do this?” Her rich, mellifluous voice was more firm than she meant the words to be, but the younger girl knew that was just how she spoke. She nodded, not trusting herself to peak at this moment. She was, perhaps, more scatterbrained than usual, but this was a very important night for them both, and she didn't want to risk ruining it by babbling mindlessly to the older girl.

Surprisingly gentle, pale hands released the smaller girl's work-rough hands, and moved to her tanned shoulders. She lightly caressed the soft, short brown hair and then laid both hands on the smaller girl's shoulders. There was no shiver of anticipation, only a momentary tensing and a slightly distant look that passed through the hazel eyes of the younger girl. The momentary change in attitude passed quickly, and she closed both her hands to resist the urge to bring them to the silver pendant about her throat.

The white haired girl spoke more softly, more thoughtfully. “When I first saw you, I could see that you were not like the others.” She traced a pale, drawn scar along the smaller girl's upper arm gently. “Not because of your looks, or your training.” Slowly she pulled the strap of the simple brown dress down from the battle scarred girl's shoulder to hang off her arm. “Because you were....like someone that I expected to meet, or someone I was used to being near already.”

“Like, destined, or fated to meet, or like convergence meant for us to be together?” The fit young girl forced herself to stop talking, and smiled uncertainly at the moonlit landscape below. Yet she knew that her beautiful, strong, intelligent, and most trusted friend would forgive her the momentary slip.

With a smile, the taller girl forgave her brave, clever, skillful protector. Perhaps not in any official capacity, no, but that was nonetheless who her most beloved friend was. They were connected, had been connected in an ephemeral yet unbreakable way. They completed one another in ways that were beyond speaking of, beyond even the understanding of witches. There were certain young priestesses that knew and a senra from far away who could have explained it, but they chose to keep their counsel to themselves.

Mainly because there was no point in trying to explain it to the twain who could not see it themselves but were surrounded by it with every beat of their hearts.

The brown-and-green eyes closed and she sighed softly. “I'm ready....” It was an effort not to say the things that rushed through her mind, the wondering and confusions that burgeoned just below the surface. The only admonishment the tanned warrior-witch had ever received from the white haired girl had been a gentle, indulgent smile. Despite their differences they had always existed upon a ocean of their own, the tides shifting back and forth between them. She laced her fingers with those of the white haired witch she admired and supported. “I'm ready.”

There were tears, but they were less of pain, than of release. Or fulfillment, perhaps – they would be together, through all trials and through all joys. Eriadne and Maria, Ravens and Witches alike and unalike.

Friends, and so much more than friends....perhaps ignorant of the truth they were exploring together upon the watchtower of House Antioch.

The truth of the world is a concept related to magic and will as I understand it.
Magic involved pushing ones truth into the world and replacing the old one.
Common charms are charms that a regular human can use they're generally just stuff like good luck or wishing someone good health.
Though they can be dangerous to humans if misused.
