Welcome to the XLVI installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."

Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole.

It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords, the cutthroat merchants of the East India Trading Company and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous monarchs like Maleficent, the Horned King, Grimhilde and Jafar, mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog.

It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.

Planning on creating a character for tonight's playtest. Hopefully I will be able to attend and can use the newest character creation rules properly.
>>
Is Cassim still leading the Forty Thieves in this setting?
>>
>>36521125
Reminder:

Seventh and last playtest is today at 7pm EST. The players will be the escort (or part of) a group of atlantean archeologists exploring an egyptian tomb.
Bring an On-A-Roll character with 50 lessons at Medium progression.
Link to join in the OP.

Don't remember discussing it, but since he never met Aladdin (him having been killed or rocketed away by Jafar) It seems logical.
>>
>>36521237

Thank you! I had thought I'd read that the setting would be in Egypt/Jafar's Sultanate, but I wasn't sure. Have to head off to work but will be working on my character.
>>
>>36521237
Running a power by everyone. I did this last thread, but didn't really get any feedback. It's exclusive to Hive Knights, who are just bees in a suit of armor.
-Swarm Form: At the cost of a will point, the hive can be taken out of the armor and the bees can assume their true form as a swarm. In this form, the Hive knight gets triple speed, +8 Agility, does double brawl strikes and has a brawl score of 10, but -8 Robustness, to a minimum of 1, and takes triple damage from physical strikes, as the hive is exposed and the Queen at risk. This lasts up to 4 rounds, at which point the bees can't carry the hive anymore and drop it, leaving you defeated and unable to move unless you are in your armor. Obviously, you do not get equipment bonuses as a swarm.

Is it overpowered? Underpowered?
>>
>>36521381
I dunno much about game design but maybe the minimum of +12 to Brawl is a little high, and unless you're up against an inner circle/villain the +8 agility does a lot to mitigate the glass cannon nature of the power. Also it sounds pretty much useless for non-nimble characters.
>>
Bumping while at work and statting up my character.
>>
Late afternoon bump. And reminder there's only 18 statblocks between us and the first release.

Wanna Be Like You- 1 rank of Linguistics at character creation
Increased Mobility- +2 to Acrobatics.
Combo- If your Nimbleness exceeds that of the foe by at least 5 points, you can attack one more time in the same turn.
Diamond in the Rough - You gain a +2 bonus to skills tests to decipher the value (statistical or otherwise) of an item. Science for chemicals, Academics for books (Linguistics for foreign ones), etc.
Trust me, I'm a Doctor- +2 on Science, Occult, and Academics if you can somehow explain how your character knows this particular subject.
Like A Coursing River- Give your allies +2 on their next Acrobatics check (within five minutes) after you succeed on an Acrobatics check.
>>
>>36525987
---Powers---
Fastest Fingers in All the Lands- Spend a Will point. You gain a +5 bonus to Mechanics, Acrobatics, and Athletics checks for the remainder of the scene.
Wind, Help My Feet to Fly- By spending a Will point you may attempt a single physics-defying feat of Acrobatics or Athletics (like running a short distance on a vertical wall or using a flight of passing birds as skipping stones to get to a nearby roof). The actual difficulty is up to the DM, and if he deems the act too impossible you are refunded the Will point.
Quick Draw King- You may always make one attack in the surprise round, and never suffer penalties in the surprise round.
The Quick And The Dead- Spend a Will point to immediately go first, regardless of your place in the initiative order.
Scion of Zorro- Spend a Will point to gain +10 on any one flashy but not directly harmful strike with a melee weapon (like trying to disarm an opponent, or cut the straps of his armor, or cut your initials in his clothes).
Sword Dance- As long as you are dual-wielding you may add half your Acrobatics or Music (rounding up) as a bonus to your Melee attacks.

---Ideals---
Any day away from adventure is a wasted day.
Humans and apes are pretty much cousins, why can't we just go along?
Knowledge is the real treasure, but actual shinies are nice too.
---Goals---
Zero: Unearth a forgotten treasure.
On-a-Roll: Make an archeological discovery of international importance.
Hero: Reveal the true history of the world.

---Equipment---
Twin Tulwars: Dual-wielded high-quality weapons, +4 Melee
Padded Vest: +2 Prevent Harm
Adventuring Journal: +2 Academics
Lucky Coin: +3 to any roll to avoid traps
Grappling Hook: +2 to Acrobatics or Athletics when climbing
Magnifying Glass: +2 to Insight rolls where such an item would actually help
Ten foot pole, rope, mallet & stake: Can't delve without.
>>
>>36526016
Physical Description:
Dark of fur and long of limb, this remarkable example of ape wears a decorated padded vests and carries two curved swords and a battered rucksack on his back.

Rundown:
Monkeys have a very particular place in the Khanate's caste system. Sher Khan's political ties with the Kingdom of the Red Flower put the second only to the great cats in terms of rights and leeway, but exactly for this reason many see them as upstart foreigners reaping benefits they don't deserve. Kapi's modest origins and choice of career (adventurer and archeologist, or as he is often called "glorified graverobber") certainly didn't help. This is why he's always preferred the quiet of forgotten tombs and overgrown temple to the hustle and bustle of cities and his "untouchable" human cousins to his fellow animals. Though he has achieved his dream of leaving his country and explore the wider world, homesickness can never be truly banished.
>>
>>36525987
There is only human in the Disneyverse. Scandinavians speak the exact same language as bears, Indians and chinks. Or everyone has a babel fish.
>>
>>36526504
Well, then I think I'll take a point from Linguistics and put it into Occult. And change the last two languages to egyptian hieroglyphs.

Characters for the playtest are supposed to have reached On-a-Roll after spending their last lesson, so you'll have to take a point off Agility and Deceit. We also decided Will doesn't go up when you change tier, only Strikes.

Yeah, I try to ignore off-topic discussion.

Generally.

Now, who's ready for some graverobbing? And moreover, should we use the Cauldronborn stats for mummies or what?
>>
>>36527252
Actually I was using the Chimera rules as a method of creating a Leopardperson(assuming that is allowed) from La's kingdom. They are not particularly happy to be under her rule and in the show they did revolt at one point if I remember correctly.
>>
>>36527258

---Equipment---
- Mismatched Merc's Gear: An eclectic mix-and-matched ensemble including a pair of patched britches, a long beggar's tunic and an Atlantean tactical jacket with the sleeves cut off. (Light Armor +1)
- Inherited Lockpicks: A rather unique set of antique lockpicks, embellished with tarnished silver scrollwork. (+4 Mechanics while picking locks)
- Plentiful Pouches: Tied or clipped to several belts and bandoliers are a wide array of pouches, purses and phials for every predictable predicament. (+4 Legerdemain to conceal or reveal small objects)
- Stolen Kitchen Knives: True, they may only be a pair of knives stolen from a kitchen somewhere, but they are well balanced and fit nicely in-hand. (+4 Melee)
- Memento of Mother: A small, slightly bent golden bauble with a hunk of colored glass at the center, hung off a thin leather cord. (+2 Endure)

---Ideals---
- Try to stop acting so snarky and jaded all the time.
- Prove to the others you're worth keeping around.
- Prove to yourself that you are not a coward.

---Goals---
- On-a-Roll: Earn a fair share of the loot in a really big heist, scheme or flimflam.
- On-a-Roll: Convince the Mercenaries to take you away to Atlantis with them at the end of the mission.
- Hero: Train hard and earn enough respect to become a full-fledged member of the mercenary group and eventually an Atlantean citizen.
- Hero: Return to the Sultanate of Agrabah leading an Atlantean A-Team and helping improve the lives of other Street Rats.
>>
>>36527310

Physical Description: Rana the Rat is a short, thin young woman who looks to be all gangly arms and legs without much of anything to note in the middle. Her hair is black and is short, thick and wavy. Her clothes are mismatched and threadbare, her skin is either deeply tanned or thoroughly dust-coated, and while not exactly malodorous, Rana does smell something like a rat covered in cardamom and paprika.

Rundown: Having lived her life on the streets after the (presumed) death of her parents, Rana the Rat has finally found what she believes to be her "big break." Billing herself as a local guide and go-for, she has tried to ingratiate herself with a group of Atlantean mercenaries who have come to the desert I search of... Something? Rana really couldn't care less what it is she's supposed to be helping the Mercs find, so long as she can manage to help them find it. Maybe they'll give her a cut of the loot once its all over with. Maybe they'll even take her back with them to Atlantis. Maybe this really will be her big break, so long as she can keep herself from ruining it.

In the books they were invulnerable to all mundane weapons, so yeah, we can't do them as they were in the books. Also because when Taran struck one with Dyrnwyn in the final book, they all fell. ALL of them. Mind you, at this point the Black Cauldron had already been destroyed for 3 books.....but anyways, I think them reviving all the time and magic weapons keeping them down is the best way to stat them.

Master of an Army
He can call in his Villains to aid him in a fight if they haven’t been defeated
Don't You Disrespect Me, Little Man!
+3 to Intimidate if the character has taken a Social strike in this Situation.
King: This unit is a KING. It gets +10 to Persuade and/or Intimidate its servants to do anything if opposed in some way, and can automatically make them obey if nobody is trying to incite rebellion among them.
Pounce: +4 to Brawl rolls against unaware opponents.
Low to the Ground: +3 to Stealth rolls where visual detection is a possibility
Pinned Ya Again: Spend a Will Point and the character may choose to roll their Brawl vs. an enemy's Robustness/Agility to pin that enemy to the ground at risk of opening up another attack on the character upon failure. Pinned enemies cannot attack until unpinned and must make a Robustness check against a character's Brawl roll to become unpinned every round until defeated or successful escape.

In the Forests of the Night: At night, reroll all Stealth checks and keep the better result.
Fearful Symmetry: At the beginning of each turn, make an Intimidate attack against all those who have gazed upon Shere Khan or heard his voice in the last round.

Well guys, have I done well?

Currently statting up a Charming Guy in case having another Nimble Gal street rat proves to be problematic. I'm still at work though so it's slow going, but I hope to be out by the time the playtesting starts. If for some reason I can't be, anyone else should feel free to use the character if they want to.
>>
>>36529130
Yeah, probably needs a little rebalancing to bring him in line with Shere Khan.
>>
>>36529166
More like bring him in line period.
He's more powerful than most of our 'high-power' kings like Maleficent and Facilier.
>>
>>36529196
Facilier needs a bit of a buff to his Powers, but not to his statline. That's Facilier's entire thing, most of his power doesn't come from him but instead from the Friends, who are interested in maintaining such a useful and skilled agent in the world.
>>
>>36529248
Actually, I'm pretty sure Facilier's stats are the highest in the game (except for Scar now) at 74.
>>
>>36529290
Well, you're right. His Robustness needs to go down to 7, because honestly he's a skinny guy. He should probably lose a bit of Agility, too.
Also, what the hell are we doing with Dinosaur Island?
>>
>>36529430

>>
>>36529548

Our last thread had 40 posters, which is about the average. We're just in a bad part right now, 16 Kings left to stat and then we're officially in beta.

But yeah, the fact that magical realm and quest threads get so much attention while this and Hektor Hersey have only specific core groups is saddening. Does prove there are still a lot of good damn fa/tg/uys that such cool projects are getting done, though.

It's finals week now, so a lot of our core posters are pretty busy (myself included) but don't discount the work we've done. Okay, look, I know that using the non-Disney "Road to El Dorado" is well established by now, but hear me out.

RtED was selected to "fill the hole" of Meso-America in the Disney-Villain pantheon. But that's wrong.

In the 1950s, one of Disney's most profitable and ubiquitous properties was Davey Crockett, a TV miniseries they later released as a film, "Davey Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier". The film ends with Crockett's defiant last stand at the Alamo.

The primary villain, of course, is General Santa Anna, who would capture the Alamo and execute Crockett, but in the tradition of "300 Spartans" the victory would prove to be pyrrhic: Santa Anna was later defeated, captured, and forced to declare Texas an independent nation.

Of course, in Villains Victorious, this wouldn't be the case: Anna would have been victorious in crushing the Texan rebellion, and with that victory his power over Mexican politics would have been unquestionable. He could have easily moved past the role of President, and taken a title more fitting for the setting (even with his various failures and betrayals, in real life he eventually declared himself President-for-Life with the honorific "Most Serene Highness"). He apparently had an obsession with Napoleon.

Thoughts?

This sounds like something to change after the Beta is released. We are too close to the Beta right now to change such annimportant detail, and we're only doing animated films at the moment. Definitely something I'd want for a live action expansion, though.
>>
>>36533006
Not entirely, we do have Beckett and Davy Jones on the Kings list. You may be right about the Beta though.
>>36532880
It's a very good suggestion, we'll maybe host a poll after the current playtest wraps up.

It is too close to beta release, though.
>>
>>36532880
Good catch. With the acknowledgement that the change shouldn't delay the beta, this sounds like a better fit. Santa Anna was a great villain.

>>36533006
>we're only doing animated films at the moment
That's wrong though.

>He apparently had an obsession with Napoleon.
Doing a bit of reading on him, and I have an idea about this and his ability to play with the "big boys," his super-powered neighbors and rivals. More to come on this.
>>
>>36532880
It occurs to me that if Santa Anna kicked Texas' shit in and killed Davy Crockett, it'd give Alameda Slim an opponent to actively fight. He'd be mad as hell that one of his Tall Tales got executed, to say nothing of losing territory in Texas. He'd be Yosemite Sam levels of angry.

So, should we give Santa Anna a chunk of Mexico and the West Coast and leave the South to Kan, or give the whole thing to Santa Anna? Feels a bit wrong to lose the guy entirely this late in the game.
>>
>>36533377
>More to come on this.
Effectively, the idea is that Santa Anna is host to an entity, the Horseman of War or something. Napoleon had been its previous host. It's a being which likes to empower ambitious men, then abandons them when they need them most.

For some reason (plot hook?) Santa Anna was never abandoned in this way. As such has a greatly extended lifespan (assuming Villains Victorious happens in the early 1900s) as well as super-human tactical ability and charisma.

The premise here is "remove non-Disney properties, and here's a way to do it."

In an off-brand "expansion", Kan could easily emerge out the jungles of Central America to threaten Anna's flank (just as Rasputin would arise in Russia, Ramses II would show up in Egypt, Eris would show up in the Mediterranean, etc)

>>36534163
Road to El Dorado was always a placeholder. It's a shame it took us this long to think of something else to fill in Central America, but now that we have a Disney property that fits I don't see why we need to keep using something from outside.

Here's the problem though. There's only SO many future settings we can pull from though:

((Note, I'll be pulling from a few obscure ones))

>Tobi mask guy (BH6)
>Dorris (Meet the robinsons)
>A.U.T.O (WALL-E)
>Xanatos (Gargoyles)
>Drossel Von Flugel (Fireball)
>Galactic Federation/HAMSTER VEIL/Evil stitch with maybe brat!lilo (Lilo and Stitch!)
>John Silver (Treasure Planet)
>King Candy (Wreck it Rolph)
>Henry J. Waternoose (Monsters INC.)
> Corrupted!Victor (Franken weenie)
>EVIL EMPEROR ZURG! (Buzz light year of Star Command)
>Bill Cipher & co. (Gravity Falls)
>LORD HATER, 1# SUPER VILLAIN! (Wonder over Yonder)
>CLU, with MCP serving under him (Tron)
>Judge Doom (Who Framed Rodger Rabbit?)
>THE RHINO (James and the giant peach)
>Speckles (G-FORCE)

And that's stretching it a bit.
>>
>>36536355
Hmm. Modernize some of the others? But that's just stretching things another way...
>>
>>36536355
James and the Giant Peach would probably fit the default setting better than the future one. There's very little to identify what time it takes place in and the New York scene definitely has a 20's/30's feel to it.

Sure, it has a giant robotic shark, but this setting already has laser shooting giant robot lobsters and personal flying fishcars, courtesy of Atlantis

I wholeheartedly support the replacement of Road to El Dorado with Davy Crockett. Santa Anna would be a great character, and this would bring us, as far as I know, to 100% Disney.
>>
>>36537402
Santa Anna gives the pirates a king who they can interact with on a reasonable level. Santa Anna had zero scruples IRL, he'd have no problem using pirates for his own purposes.

Let's talk about this.

While there's precedence to "supernaturalizing" an otherwise mundane villain (Frollo) I'm not sure it's something we should throw around so easily. That said, it's reasonable to assume Santa Anna needs an edge when his neighbors can summon shadow-demons, mind-control people by yodeling, and turn people into animals with a potion.

We should probably go ahead and figure out what it is. Saying he's "host to an entity" who MIGHT be X is kind of meh.

I say he has the Arc of the Covenant. Disney owns Indiana Jones now.

Hey just a question if anybody is still here, which sounds stronger?

Spend a Will point. Choose an attribute and increase by half it's total. Round up if decimal. Ex: You have 10 Robustness, by using this Power and choosing Robustness, you get 15 Robustness.

Spend a Will point. Choose two Powers. Their effects, but not their requisites, are doubled for the remainder of the turn.
>>
>>36539405
Forgot to mention both last for the remainder of the turn.
>>
>>36539405
First sounds good but a bit strong. Average player will use it on their highest stat, with a bonus of +6 on average.

second sounds... blatantly overpowered.
Average bonus is +10.
>>
>>36539500
>>36539405
Let this not be said that the first cannot be used, just that it is slightly stronger than average for a power.

The second has good intentions and is a fantastic idea, but stumbles a bit when it comes to how it actually plays out. with a bit of balance it could very well be useable.
>>
>>36539500
Okay how about this?

Spend a Will point. Choose an attribute and increase by half it's total minus one. Round up if decimal. Min bonus is 2. Ex: You have 10 Robustness, by using this Power and choosing Robustness, you get 14 Robustness.

Spend a Will point. Choose one Power. Their effects, but not their requisites, are doubled for the remainder of the turn.

Just trying to make some mage-ish PC powers by making them lesser versions of the Villains' Powers.
The other two.
-Lesser White Mage
Spend a Will point. Heal 1d3 or 1d6/2, round up, Strikes on a chosen target. Undead take damage from this ability and take a -2 PH roll against it.
-Lesser Black Mage
Spend a Will point. Cast/Shoot either a: R+X/2+I/2, Fireball that cause Burn, a Lightning Bolt that causes Stun, or an Ice Shard that causes -2 to Agility and Robustness. Goes up to 20m. R = Ranged, X = Mechanics/Occult, I = Intelligence.
>>
>>36539662
Forgot to mention this is more for on-a-roll tier characters.
>>
>>36539662
The powers look okay for now but clearly need some "no you cannot do this" wording.

Lesser white Mage: ignoring the fact that magic in-setting is rarely so cut and dry because it doesn't matter, this power is a vastly inferior version of "I'm gonna need you to fill these" and undead aren't common enough for this to see much use: they're wicked in BALD MOUNTAIN and Britain, but good in China and the Spirit Lands. Needs a serious buff, especially as it heals only physical wounds.

Black Mage: different kinds of mechanical effects are interesting. Actual attack method is a bit confusing. So if I'm reading this right, a super smart guy would roll 4+4/2 = 4+ 12/2=6 = +10 on a ranged attack? You'd be better off just shooting them in 80% of cases. Should honestly be intelligence straight down. Additionally, you're paying a heavy tax in that you need two skill points instead of one to increase your to-hit by one.
Now, that being said balance-wise, generally flinging spells is not considered a very Disney-protagonist trait. If you renamed them you would get better reception here. Perhaps some form of alchemical solutions, which we have agreed is pretty Disney?

dont read this as disdain, these are good ideas.
>>
>>36537799
Fountain of youth? Ancient Aztec secrets? It might be a way to fold in some of the RtED content. Basically a cache of stolen treasures.
>>
>>36540129
How about just Occult or Mechanics + Intelligence instead for Black Mage? Or just Intelligence? And I know it's not very Disney, but placeholder name.

I meant for White Mage to just heal any Strikes, kinda like the Black Knight's power "It's Just a Flesh Wound!" But can be better or worse depending on the roll.
How about this?
-Lesser White Mage
Spend a Will point. Whether by song, prayer, or holy magic, the chosen target is healed of their wounds, mental or physical. Roll 1d3 for how many Strikes, Social or Physical, the target is healed for. Damages Undead.

Perhaps the healing also causes a revival if the target is downed? Target would be revived with 0 Strikes remaining of course.
Also what is "I'm gonna need you to fill these"? Because it's not in the Powers pastebin.

>dont read this as disdain, these are good ideas.

Spend a Will point. Whether by song, prayer, or holy magic, the chosen target is healed of their wounds, mental or physical. Roll 1d3+1 for how many Strikes, Social or Physical, the target is healed for. If used on a downed unit they will be revived on your next turn. Damages Undead.

---Traits---

-Ice Magic
This unit can add its Occult score to attacks in order to deal Ice-type magical damage. All magical acts from this character count as Ice Magic. Characters struck by Ice Magic will suffer a -2 penalty to Prevent Harm (Does not stack).

-Master of an Army
This unit can call in the territory’s Villains to aid in battle if they haven’t been defeated.

-Unstable
This unit’s Charm, Intelligence and Sensibility are lower than their normal score. Any attack rolls made by this character while this trait is active obtain a +3 bonus. This trait becomes inactive once the character is defeated, or is reasoned with.

-Frozen Heart
This unit’s heart is frozen in grief and despair. +5 against Social Strikes. Social Strikes count triple.

-From the Heart
This unit’s Magic is influenced by its emotional state. If under extreme positive emotions, +5 bonus to all acts of magic. If under extreme negative emotions or “Unstable”, make “Blizzard” passive.

-Queen
This unit is a QUEEN. Is gets +10 to Persuade and/or Intimidate its servants to do anything if opposed in some way, and can automatically make them obey if nobody is trying to incite rebellion among them.

---Powers---

-Create Golem
Spend a Will Point. This character can use Occult+Craft to produce a sentient, obedient Snowlem.

-Blizzard
Spend a Will Point. At the beginning of each turn for three turns, deal Occult+Ranged damage to every character in an area of 70m around this character. If Passive, ignore the Will Point cost.

-Ice Conjuration
Spend a Will Point. Elsa can create a hazard or object made of ice or snow on the terrain. (Pillars of snow, an ice wall, stalactices & Stalagmites, etc). If “Blizzard” is active, ignore the Will Point cost. Elsa cannot use this more than once per turn.

-Magic/Ice Bolt
This unit can use Ranged or Melee to deal magical damage without the need of a weapon.

>on a roll

nigger are you retarded

this Elsa a shit
one on wiki's better from stats to traits in crunch and fluff
>>
>>36546151
>>36546172
There are some improvements here and a lot of downgrades. Some of these traits are pretty good but we should only merge the new ones into our existing Elsa. You made her even weaker than she already was by a pretty big amount, and that's the opposite of what we wanted
>>
I'm >>36546521, looking at the new Elsa again- dude, you literally made her weaker than an average Villain. Again, we wanted to buff Elsa, not make her weaker in every field. There's some good trait ideas that aren't already on the wiki, but past that, there's nothing we should change the current model to. Also, she shouldn't have Master of an Army.
>>
>>36546632
>>36546521

Aye aye then, fair enough. At least something good came out of that, I guess

I still think that the only think she's got going for her is her magic, but this is a community project so alright, at least I got some nice traits in there.

Are we keeping her strikes a solid number though? Many of the other kings have Number+ X Strikes

>>36546462
No need to be an asshole
>>
>>36546151
>>36546172
Her strikes are too low, her prevent harm is literally on the level of most inner circles and minor villains, and her attack method is significantly less than the average non-combat character at +22.

She needs a heavy series of buffs, but this statline could fit a minor ice magician.

>>36544701
I dunno, i don't like the fluff but the statline seems fine for like, magical items or something.

>>36546725
Generally, Kings aren't supposed to have under ~20 strikes base for a party of 3 unless they're supposed to be weak as fuck (I.E, Alameda Slim, Queen La, most joke Kings)
>>
>>36546725
Sverd had an entire monologue (not really but including) about why Elsa's ice magic isn't the only thing she had going for her. I'm sure if he wasn't currently banned he'd be here in about an hour to talk about 19th century absolutism some more.
>>
>>36546787

I know, I was there. I just don't buy it because Disney and Absolutism don't seem to fit to me.

But hey, that's just me. I'll be quiet and work on shit I actually can understand
>>
>>36546787
Let's not derail the thread with debates on morality and customs of female Napoleonic monarchs and heirs again.
What was Sverd even banned for? This is gonna be the first thread in like 20 he won't how up at like 4:30 sharp, that's weird.

Sverd was banned for reasons unknown. The ban message wasn't very clear.
>>

what the actual fuck am I reading

Disney had some feudal Monarchs but Elsa is really obviously an Absolute monarch.

>What was Sverd even banned for?
Apparently he either reported a post that the mod liked, or stated that he saged or reported. It's like arresting someone for jaywalking, really.
>>
>>36546856
I feel like this is historically wrong, but I'm not Sverd.
Also
>mate finding

That is definitely historically wrong as fuck.

It's got no ranged attack or means of socially fighting you. Just bait it with a fast boat with steaks on it and just keep shooting explosive harpoons into it. Problem solved.
>>
>>36546992
It's prevent harm is TN50.
That's beyond superhuman acts.
Jesus
>>
>>36546967
Some guys are put into an encounter so you can beat them. Some guys are put into an encounter because merely surviving them is a suitable challenge. This guy fits the second category. And yes, you do need a bigger boat.

>>36546935
Hasn't mate-finding been part of upper class education since forever? If not to find your own mate, if only to select a suitable mate for your offspring.
>>
>>36547009
Clearly we're not using enough explosives, then.

How do we scale up explosives in the setting, anyway? it's not particularly disney to kill a boss via exploding the city block but knowing PCs in general it WILL happen.

>>36547026
Actually either your parents would select for you or whatever guardian you had would.
>>
>>36547036
>it's not particularly disney to kill a boss via exploding the city block
>not having seen Mulan
>implying killing Shan Yu with massive amounts of explosives wouldn't be perfectly Disney
>>

Shan Yu took a good chunk of the palace with him when he went out
>>
>>36547054
>>36547055
Good point. Can't believe I missed that, given that Mulan is my favorite of the lot.

So, what are the rules for Explosives? it's generally Prevent Harm TN20 to avoid getting hurt from an exploding stick of dynamite, so +1 for every additional stick/pound?
>>
I am posting on my phone from work. Don't tell the mods.

>>36547026
Mate-finding was for the non-heirs that you weren't planning on giving to the church so they would catch better political marriages.
The heir was supposed to learn how to rule and lead, but not seduce. Their marriage was, first of all, actually up to them and them alone, and secondly intended to produce viable children and secure more land for them. There are cases of a heir being trained to seduce or how to act with the opposite gender , but they are rare in general and nonexistent in Scandinavia.
>>
>>36547086
So, Hans was trained in mate-finding?
>>
>>36547036
Regents could not arrange marriages (even though a couple assholes like Mazarin did anyway), and typically the former regent would only arrange a marriage if it was massively beneficial, I.e. Ferdinand and Isabella. The heir was too valuable to marry to an outsider, usually.
>>36547149
Yep. His purpose as the gorrilionth child was to find a viable marriage and take power through it, since he was't church-bound. Anna was a perfect oppurtunity as an easily manipulated female second in line for the throne.

But seriously, would an absolute monarch's education not include "here's a list of things you should look for in a mate"?
>>
Oh yeah. Strawpoll is closed, game will be held on Saturday at 7:00PM every week unless, you know, other events come up.

I'll be taking 5 players based on totally logical selection procedures that aren't at all a popularity contest, but don't make a character ahead of time, you'll be making them all together this week and getting situated for the first adventure. Ideally you won't all be the same archetype, but who knows.
>>
>>36547299
Besides classical tales of Romance and all that jazz, heir's only knowledge of the sort would be how to not get trampled over and manipulated. Would probably have been useful for Anna. Besides noble, fertile and useful by power or action, they were generally left to their own. Most married for power anyway because they were greedy bastards though.
>>
>>36547371
Ah, so they didn't need an education in the matter when they knew it instinctively.

>>36547359
I call Strong Guy archetype.
>>
>>36547371

bump
>>
>>36543831
The difference is that when these guys run outta strikes, they're dead. Unless someone raises the remains there are no ifs, ands, or buts. Hades can never truly die as a god but existing in any plane other than Olympus or the Underworld makes him vulnerable.
>>
Oh, yeah. Here's the actual join link for the campaign; https://app.roll20.net/join/601097/mEiDCA

Anyone is free to spectate our games but only a handful (~5) will be playing. We will play weekly at 7:00PM EST and will be creating characters and doing some starting stuff this Saturday.
Selection process will be based entirely on my personal opinion because honestly if I'm gonna run a game for 20+ sessions I'm gonna pick who I can cooperate with or at least haven't severely offended me. I'm a faggot, I know, but honestly none of you guys are personally super offensive so the chances of someone getting kicked out are low.

>>
Let's talk about some kings then.

who wants to stat Rourke?

will he have atlantean crystal magic?
>>
>>36549200

I think Rourke should have a trait about always being prepared/never surprised

That, and equipment for every situation. EVERY. SITUATION.
>>
>>36549246
>Schrodinger's Toolkit: Rourke has x+5 Equipment Points (x=players*5) that can be spent during his turn to represent items he already had hidden on his person.
>>
>>36549403

This is the man who brought anti-air weapon to an underground exploration

Seems legit
>>
>>36549472
Not only anti-air weapons, but honest to god aircraft. To an undersea/underground expedition.
>>
>>36549403
>combat begins
>rourke pulls a suit of +6 power armor out of his ass
>then a +6 Atlantean Death Laser
>then a fucking airplane
>then, then a squad of robot soldiers

Could be good.
>>
>>36549472
>>36549518
I think it's a good alternative to giving him a ton of strikes. He's no tank, but you bet he'll be leading one.

>>36549403

>>
>>36549518

>All the while he's still speaking in a perfectly civil tone like it's all just business

King-statting guy here, I'm gonna start Jafar up soon

Would it be too OP to give him an ability to transform characters into other things/change their size and give them the appropriate bonuses/penalties?
>>
>>36549749
A: He's a king, he does what he wants.
B: Facilier can already do it and he's a shit wizard.
>>
>>36549771

Yes, but not as a power

I mean Jafar literally pointing at one of the PCs and turning them into a cricket or a horse or what have you
>>
>>36549806
Sure. Make them test Sensibility or Robustness+Endure against, IDK, TN25-30 or they turn into an animal of his choice for d6 rounds.

It's a standard attack type for him.
>>
>>36549749
Maybe make two stat setups for Jafar: one where he's Sultan Jafar (regular Jafar with a lot more training and items) and one where he's Sorcerer Jafar (THE MOST POWERFUL SORCERERRR IN THE WORLD).

Alternatively, add in a note where, if he used his wish to enhance his powers, add +X to his stats and add the following abilities.
>>
someone archive the thread and put up a new one?
>>
Alright, holding off on Jafar until the next thread.

Also, shouldn't somebody fix up Freeze? That sounds less like a dangerous power and more like something that'd make the game very boring
>>
>>36549894
I think we've decided that Sorcerer Jafar is the default, but if you want to make a Sultan Jafar, feel free.
