Also: Today I went all-in and while on the bus home got down and wrote down... maybe not "all the Zenith charms", but quite a lot of them.

As you might know, I used the entire "you get to pick between [ability] charms" rather than giving you a full list because... there aren't full lists, that would require me to go through the books and check every charm for conversion to Quest rules, then to think about new stuff that works or i might want for the Quest.

And quite frankly that's a lot of work and I'm not sure I can/want to do it, so Charms have been written by me bit by bit when i had the time and the idea for them.

But now I'm considering giving it a try. Keep in mind, as always, that I'm running this quest with an ad-hoc system and I'm fixing and changing and writing stuff as it comes to mind.

So, what do you say? keeping the current "[ability] choices" thing, or giving you the full list?

Keep in mind that "the full list" can be something tl;dr and cumbersome to have and to read on 4chan posts, and also can be a lot of choices that might not always be meaningful.

Alternatively, we can do that you get the full list only for abilities that hit 5, which fits in nicely with the fact that for now only Zenith is at 5 and I've done only Zenith charms.

...Aaaaactually I haven't even done ALL Zenith charms. It wasn't a comprehensive, well-thought-out writeup. I just wrote a bunch of stuff and went "i'm done".

Like in the past, remember that you can suggest charms, both in the "the book has charm X, can we get it" way and "hey, can we get a charm to do X?" way.

Basically, when you get killed in a dramatic confrontation when you were fighting heroically for a good cause, the people who you were protecting and fighting for, and who believe in you, can wish you back to life. You lose one dot of permanent Essence and come back up with half health.

Damn, we did not take Adamant Skin.

We really should have taken that one first, for our first perfect defense, to ensure survival. Too bad our essence pool is so small. We need to make it larger, way larger.

I think the next sequence of charms that we have to absolutely buy are these:

>Adamant Skin Technique
>Sun-King Radiance
>Horizon-to-Horizon Performance Method

Adamant for the PD, Sun-King Radiance to keep everyone minds safe from enemy social fu

And Horizon to Horizon so we can get everyone loyal to us on Tiana in short time so we can have even our mortal citizens of the lowest rank protected via a combo of SunKing Radiance and Glorious Propaganda.

In the immediate concerns however Adamant Skin gets us out of super heavy attacks and SunKing Radiance boosts everyone who was honest about joining up with us to at least our level of social defenses, and that is something we are pretty decent in.

Then we need to get Horizon to Horizon so we can have so Nation level charm not only battlefield level ones and it needs time to work so the faster we get it the better.

And once we have become thee rock of our group with those three and budding nation grab Sea Wolf and Merchant Wisdom ASAP so we can function as the unmovable Admiral and Merchant.

Why? Because if Tianna is truly a Land Based power in a archipelago going Pirate Queen Maka has us made as one of the primary military forces in the Archipelago. And with Horizon to Horizon and some clever placement we can solidify and consolidate said force into something permanent, coupled with Merchant Wisdom so we can back up Mikhail on funding it - he has sometimes business to do so we have to be able to run it at least financially, armies run on pay after all, plus Sea Wolf so we are a decent Fleet Officer.

Presto we are now able to use said Pirate Queen Maka fleet and Tianna Coalition Land Army as the backbone of a Archipelago level Federation.

With the supersoak charm even the biggest of hits will only do 1 point of damage to us.

This also makes us utterly immune to mooks, even exalted led mooks, for the entire scene.

All this should give us, should we pull it off, the strategic level power so we can stalemate the Deathknights in the West and Realm Incursions, and not only on a personal adventurere level, at wich we are somewhat decent even if we pushed ourselves a bit too far and had to split the party in the last martial adventure, and thus got ganked, and then ganked again as we leaped immediately into the fray, barely standing up in hp and Essence.

With those five charms on the buy order as a plan, if we dont get distracted by new shinies and keep smart decisions we should be able if injured to almost low health pull a Adamant and retreat from exalted level combatants and then take a section of or all the forces be the Land or sea based and lead contingents of them., so we are not knocked out of the fight and can still support people in it.

I personally find the plan i just hatched after two days without sleep and on the sadness of missing out another Exalted Qeust Thread to be quite nice and something we should at least attempt to pull off.

It makes us immune to literally anyone who's not stacking both a charm-based damage booster and a weapon-based damage boost onto the same attack.

Even most exalts don't have a snowball's chance in hell of doing more than hitting us once or twice before they run out of essence/weapon uses.

From now on, all we really have to worry about is being ganged up on by multiple combat-specced exalts equipped with artifact weapons. It really is that good.

For context, it would cost us 1 Essence to activate Ten Ox Meditation for +1 damage and one use of our +1 Damage gauntlets to deal even a single point of damage to ourselves. We'd run out of gauntlet uses before we managed to incapacitate us.

2 Soak is HUGE.

four fighters that can dish out 3 damage a turn each can take us out in two turns if they can manage to focus fire. for 1 essence Adamant Skin gets us the get out of Jail card for such a situation since it makes such focus fire infective for two turns, enough so that our team can get in some damage in if they keep at it or they disperse their focus fire or shift it from us to someone else.

Something that worries me is actually how expensive a single fight is now, just our soak and SHS cost us half our essence pool. Two fights, two scenes and we're out of motes, less if we end up using ten ox or need anything else in between

Indeed the example I made for it was extreme, but considering that in a dragged fight we will get down to health levels of 2 or 1 as shown in these last threads, AST is worth it imho, since with 1 essence we get w turns invulnerability.

And why is this so important? Because basically we are the lynchpin this whole operation hangs on. We are the one who has united the Island of Tianna, and we are the social and political force that can propel it to higher levels. Take Maka out and it all devolves to a almost status quo level.

AST is a 1 essence cost insurance policy.

and Insurance policy in a Kingmaker or Game of Thrones type situation is always worth its price in gold.

We only need all three on fights were we both want our best defense and offense up at once.
