Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

But damn, its fun.

You are Zachary Zelnacki, newly formed Epic. Two months ago, super-powered people rose from the wea-I mean normal. Yeah, normal. You have the ability to control vectors, allowing you to change the speed and direction of any solid object within 15 yards(13 meters). You are also inhumanly tough, able to shrug off small caliber weapons. Finally, and perhaps most important, you are able to absorb powers from dead Epics, if you touch them within ten minutes of death.

You witnessed an Epic fight in the local Middle school, and absorbed the power of steel manipulation and regeneration. You then uploaded the video of the battle and bought a Glock. Finally, you check around town for anything of interest. You see a poster about an Epic in Sacramento, read about a trio of Epics that took over New York City, and learned about LA.

You went on the road, driving to New York. In Colorado, a blockade forces you to pull over. After killing two men, the militia is able to handcuff you. Put into a large execution machine, open to the public. Who were there in large numbers, unluckily for them. Fearing for your your life, your powers fly out of control. Forming a metal shell around yourself, a rampage ensues. Nearly 20% of the town's population later, you reach your car. You fall into a fitful sleep, full of flashing lights, pleas for mercy, spraying blood, and a feeling of overpowering strength.
1/?
>>
You loot the town, breaking into a large house with an RV out front. Within the house, you eat breakfast and meet Brandon. The eight year old Epic joins you, bringing his pets along for the ride. It turns out that his parents were preppers, with bug out bags, a collection of weaponry, and an RV tricked out for going innawoods. The two(four counting the pets) of you drive cross-country, eventually being funneled into Nashville.

You escape the KKK controlled city, killing three Epics with the help of Brandon and the RV's heavy weaponry. You absorb two powers, super strength and invulnerability. Outfitted with new powers, you continue to New York. A checkpoint in the Brooklyn tunnel has you sent to a hotel to wait for an officer in the Epic army. You and Brandon order a feast of room service, jumpstarting the American economy.

A general in NYC's Epic army recruits you and your "brother" to the corps. Free schooling, room and board, a great 401K, free healthcare, and two weeks paid vacation are included in your benefits package. Brandon will be going to school with other Epic children, then work in the power plant for a few hours a day. You go to the Academy, sitting in the middle of the lecture hall. You team up with three other Epics for a training exercise. Working with them, you capture two flags from other Epics' teams. You and Sydney rush to the art museum, where Sydney captures a filipino Epic with fire powers. You finish the game, winning against Andrew's team. You sit with Nathan, Sydney, and Andrew at lunch. After classes, you go clubbing with your friends and eight year old "brother".

Number .5 is the first one, sorry if thats confusing

TOTAL XP: 800
2/?
>>
>Base Powers

Power Stealing(II): The ability to absorb the last power a dead Epic used. Can hold four powers at once, absorbed powers have sixty percent strength. Must touch dead Epic within twelve minutes of their death.

Invulnerability(II): Rifle shots(.223, .30, 5.56) along with buckshot near useless against you. Bruises, but most won't enter the body. Pistols might as well be a guy throwing pebbles at you. Watch out of heavier rounds, though.

Vector manipulation(I): You are able to change the vector of objects, making a piece of gravel punch through steel. Blows that you are expecting can be diverted. A range of twenty yards.

>Stolen Powers

Steel Manipulation(I): The ability to move, bend, liquify, and shape various types of steel. Must use existing steel, range of fifty yards.

Regeneration(I): You now heal at a much higher rate, scrapes scabbing over in a minute, deep wounds heal in a day.

Super Strength(I): You are above and beyond an Olympic athlete. Lift half a ton, squat half a ton, bench seven hundred pounds. All this, and you never look any bigger than a normal Epic
>>
XP costs for reference

Power Stealing(III): 1200. Lets you copy five powers at once, at 70% power at absorption(you have regen&steel at 60% power).
Invulnerability(III): 1100. Get shot by a HMG and keep coming. Even large rifle rounds and shotgun slugs just knock the wind out of you. Explosives and tanks are a problem still.
Regeneration(II): 400 or absorb another regen power. Makes wounds scab over in a minute and deeper wounds take a few hours to be almost healed. Don't tear your stitches, though, in a day you are fine. Must keep brain intact
Steel Manipulation(II): 400 or absorb another metal manipulation power. Lets you control more steel from a farther range. Allows for high limited iron manipulation, but iron control is much weaker
Vector Control(II): 600. Upgrades max speed(50mph to 60mph). Heavier things and items lightly rooted in the ground can be moved. WIth lots of practice, can allow for a double jump.
Super Strength(II): 600. Doubles your power. Lift or squat a ton, bench half a ton. When lifting things, they won't break from having the weight all on two hands.

You wake up, after a night of debauchery, questioning why your ass hurts. Shaking it off, you dress in your supersuit, a grey spandex/steel second skin with gold and silver decorations. You call out a goodbye to Brandon, promising to call if anything happens.

You drive your smart car to the Academy, cramped by the size of the frame. You climb from it, parking against the curb. All of your friends are in a group, which you walk over to. Sydney, Artemis, Samantha, and Andrew all blush at the sight of you. You shoot the shit with them, until Professor Messageboard calls the class over to the limos.

"We'll be diving in, so pick your partners by the time the hatches open." The professor says, then folds up his long legs to get into the leading limousine. The class piles into the limos, six to a car. They start up, driving in a long line.

They drive for twenty minutes, then park at the dock. You get out, then stare up at the ship. Airship. Would've been nice to know about that. Everyone climbs the stairway to the ship, then do the familiar dance to find a seat. You park yourself on the left hand side, other Epics moving around you like water against a rock. Your friends sit, starting to pair up.

Ok so. our job here is to basically kill the defending epics.
not only that, once killed we are supposed to harvest their cells for a bonus.

we can use two excuses to handle the bodies for power stealing
1. making sure they are dead via some mutilation
2. cell harvesting duty.

Quick question, if we steal a power we already have does it just level up?
>>
>>36448144
what do the following power actually do?
>Gifting
>Replication

>>36448241
yes.
>>
>>36448256
Thanks, Im guessing replication allows us to clone our selves or certain objects.
>>
>>36448270
> our selves or certain objects.
those are two completely different powers. hence my asking for clarification
>>
>>36448256
Gifting lets you give a level of your power to a normal human. You loose that level until the gift is returned or the person you gave the power dies.
Replication is the ability to split into multiple clones through mitosis. Owned by the High Epic Mitosis
>>
>>36448294
would each clone have our powers?
if so he number one priority
>>
>>36448380
yes. However, Mitosis is functionally invulnerable, as you have to kill every one of his clone to "kill him.

So, who are you pairing up with?
>>
>>36448412
already said illusion chick

so we got kill all of him to adsorb his power?
would having an old corps when the last one dies work ? or would it only work with a 12 minuet dead one or just the last one.?
>>
>>36448528
Last one. Clones disintegrate when killed. The primary(last body) will stay where it is

You preposition Samantha to join up, who agrees while blushing heavily. Sydney mutters that the two of you joined together for an hour last night. You spend the rest of the flight talking with each other, drinking coffee provided by a stewardess.

An announcement goes out through the airship, calling everyone to follow the blue arrows. That is when you notice the blue arrows imposed in the wall, just starting to light up. The herd of Epics(whats a good name for a group of Epics?) gets up, then follows the lights down. Professor Messageboard is standing next to an elevator-like lift, then shouts over the babbling Epics.

"We'll be flying down into the island. Take a visor from the racks on the sides, they will outline any Epic without them in red. Kill the reds. Those outlined in blue are friendlies. As we won't be advancing in a line, please keep them on at all times. This isn't a training exercise, so use full force!" The professor shouts. "Ten to a lift, flyers should grab those that can't fly. Good luck."

You step up onto a lift, which looks like a trapdoor to you. Once everyone is crowded into the lifts, the professor presses a red button protected by a plastic case. The metal under you rumbles, then starts lowering. You pull the steel from your backpack, forming a thin layer around you. Samantha grabs onto you, the metal strapping her in.

"SHIIIIITTTTTT!"

Half the class screams as you are lowered into the open air, looking down at the very small buildings. All the flyers, including you, jump off the platforms with giant smiles. The wind pushes against your steel, making ripples form on the surface. Samantha is screaming in your ear, which you close off with an extra thick layer of steel. Aw, sweet silence.

>Middle of town

You fall with your classmates, a wave of deadly forces. A few people release their Firestorms, then swoop away from it. The incendiaries fall faster than humans, plummeting into the town and beach. Balls of fire go up below you, sending thick black smoke into the sky.

Then the AA guns open fire.

Bright white streaks of light shoot into the assault party, sending them scattering. You roll over, spinning and closing up your metal armor, as one of the guns trains on you. One of the rounds hits, boring through steel and into your leg. Luckily, it misses the bone and the wound starts knitting together. The illusionist behind you puts an image of you falling out of the sky, bleeding profusely, off to your side. The gunner turns away from you, searching for his new target.

Note to self, kill every AA gun operator.

As you close, you fire vectors against gravity and fold out a parachute of steel to slow you. Samantha eeps slightly as you jerk up. You touchdown on the roof of a building, looking out through the burning town for blue line Epics. You release Samantha, the steel coiling back around your midsection.

You draw steel from the street up, into your armor. Two pickaxes form around your hands, glinting in the fire light. The heads up display on your visor says you're on the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard, and Nautilus Drive. A few streets over, a pair of blue Epics are obscured by smoke and burning buildings. South of you, is a red Epic with some large machine surrounding him
>What do?

"Sam, stay behind me and make me invisible. Can you do that?"
"Yeah, but not perfectly. People might be able to tell its an illusion."
"Fine, try it. I need to get close to an Epic."

Samantha nods, then scrunches her forehead in concentration. She nods to you again, signaling that you're cloaked. You walk forward slowly, following the red outline. You step around a corner, trusting the illusion to make you into a tree or something.

A large tan machine is in front of you, it's back turned. The red outline is in the mech, controlling it. It's rotary cannon is faced up, firing a stream of bullets at flying Epics. From what you can tell, all of it is made of titanium and aluminum with some ceramic armor plates. No steel, those motherfuckers at Hammerfall are beginning to get on your nerves. The mech rests on a pair of treads, locked in place. Wait, it's treads are starting up again. Shit, it's turning around.

You pull up to the turning tank, jumping onto it's surface. A giggle leaks out of the cockpit, then a wave of pain goes through your body. You seizure atop the machine, electricity coursing through your metal armor. The metal falls from your body, released from your will. You jitter along the metal, then slide from it's top. The engine's sound goes up in decibels, then the large tracks move forward on your body.

"FUCK!" You scream out, the treads running over your legs. You beat on the metal weakly, your muscles shorted out by the high voltage. It moves forward, releasing the crushed bone and tortured flesh. Something grabs hold of you, then grabs you around the corner as residual current tenses your muscles. Blood forms a trail to your legs, ruined sausages in grey skins. A camera on the back of the tank sweeps along the ground and roofs, but finds nothing.

Samantha releases you, letting you lean against the wooden wall of a house. You rest there for half an hour, legs knitting back into something close to normal. The battle rages around you, bullets kicking up dust and Epics killing indiscriminately. Samantha keeps them away, her illusions defending you from three enemy Epics. Finally, your legs are healed, though still red with blood.

I fucking hate Hammerfall.

>>
"Thanks for helping out Sam."
The mousy girl blushes, "You would've done the same thing for me"(yeah, maybe to get illusions)

You press a button on your visor, a small map of the town coming up on it. Looks like most of the fighting has gotten into the middle of town, with the edges being occupied by clusters of Epics. Probably infirmaries. Not everyone is lucky enough to be a regenerator. Ah! Theres one nearby. In Kinsey's Pond. How is that a pond you fucking idiots? It clearly is a cove! Great, Nathan's starting to rub off on you.

Either way, you stand up to go there. You're a bit wobbly at first, knees remembering their trauma. Through pure will, you start walking. Samantha follows, helping keep you up when you stumble. You trek between raging fires, pulling a piece of cloth over your mouth to stop the smoke. You pull up steel from the ground, leaving a large path of rubble behind you.

You come to a stop on the edge of the pond/cove, hiding behind a dumpster. In the middle of the pond, a tanned man is standing on a block of ice. He's dressed in blue and white, a ring of silver thread around his neck.
>What do?
>>
>>36450460
Confirm he isn't a friendly first. If he isn'tAnd is in range of your steel lobs some pointies at him while sam distracts him with an illsuions if not have her distract him while you close, either under water is its shallow enough or over water via the board(if she can cloak you if you're over water that'd be great too.
>>
>>36450460
Throw a steel javelin at him
>>
You check the visor, making sure its a rival. he's coated in red, so he either lost his visor or is an enemy. You pull a strip of steel from the dumpster, the blue paint breaking into flakes. Samantha nods to you again, cloaking you in illusion.

You step out of the cover of the dumpster, the steel forming a long stake. You shoot it forward using a vector, the steel flying over the water. The man looks over at the steel, watching it hit him in the thigh. The force drives him back off the ice, falling into the sea. He rises up on a cushion of ice, struggling to stand on his one leg. He's out of range of all your powers, looking around for his attacker.

You float over the water, holding the steel over it. A bullet hits the dumpster, likely a stray round. Still, Samantha drops her illusion over you. The Epic looks back over to you, noticing the giant steel demon. He rips the steel from his leg, his hand bending the steel as he pulls it out. Super strength, or he jerks off a lot.

You're almost in range of your steel manipulation, coated in an inch thick armor.

A wave of water slams into your face, the steel coating under the force. You force the steel forward, making a thick wedge to divert the water to the sides of your face. You morph the steel on your hand into a series of spikes. They harden, solidifying, then are launched from your wrist. The water stops, as a grunt comes from him.

The wedge morphs away to your neck, letting you see the Epic. He's clutching his side, a barbed piece of steel inside him. He rips out again, pieces of flesh hanging off it.The metal liquefies in his hand, creeping down his arm. He claws at the creeping metal, which leaves a path of stripped skin behind. Putting hooks on the inside was a good plan.

He falls back into the water, diving into the deep water. You shoot a burst of steel balls into the water, drawing a string of bubbles and red water.

The steel within the Epic is still within your range, though its soon to escape. The balls, six in number, rapidly expand into hooked balls. The spikes dig into his flesh, growing roots to anchor them even further.

You start lifting them up, the man swimming downwards to keep from you. The anchored balls slowly pull him up, as his strength and air fade. He bursts out of the water, red streaming from six different holes. He punches out at you, denting your steel armor. A steel spike grows out of your arm, slowly reaching towards his jugular.

"Any last words?" You ask the Epic.He spits in your face, blood filled spittle landing on your steel. "Okay. I am sorry for this."

The spike shoots forward, nearly decapitating him. The spinal card is severed almost instantly, leaving him head to loll on two flaps of muscle. You draw out the blade, then move him to rest on the ice block. You reach forward, closing his eyes with two fingers.

A wave of pain shoots into your brain, burning behind your eyes. A chill goes through the rest of your body, goosebumps rising on your skin. Hair-like tentacles grow from your armor, shaking in the sunlight. "Be at peace. Nothing can hurt you now." You say as you close his eyes.

So you guys want to lock down Super strength and Steel Manipulation?

Regeneration(II): 400 or absorb another regen power. Makes wounds scab over in a minute and deeper wounds take a few hours to be almost healed. Don't tear your stitches, though, in a day you are fine. Must keep brain intact
Steel Manipulation(II): 400 or absorb another metal manipulation power. Lets you control more steel from a farther range. Allows for high limited iron manipulation, but iron control is much weaker

Total cost is 800XP

Steel Manipulation and Regeneration locked in
Total XP: 50

You patch into the radio, listening for any news. A large plot of land has been captured, and is being set up as a base of operations. It's close by, on the corner of W 73rd Street and Long Beach Boulevard. A few Epics are crying out for pickup and healing. You open a private channel with your nearest friend, Andrew. No homo.

"Hey, wanna meet up at the FOB? Strength in numbers, and Samantha can't do much damage with her powers."
"Sure, give me a moment to get over there. Sydney's off handling a few normies with HMGs."
"See you there."
"Yeah."

You notify Samantha, who nods. You start walking to the Forward Operating Base, looking out for any Epics in red. Nothing attacks you, though you do see a few fleeing men in combat rigs and carrying AK-248s.You walk out onto the grass, wiping blood from your legs.

Andrew and Sydney are sitting in a gazebo, drinking from their water bottles and eating MREs. You call out to them, making the air around Andrew go white with frost.

"Sup Andrew, Sydney. Can't be assed to help us out, can you?"
"You have it under control. We were hunger anyway." Sydney calls out across the lawn.

You sit next to Sydney, and pull out a MRE of your own. Taking a few sips from your water bottle, you enjoy the prepackaged spaghetti and meatballs.

You patch into the radio again, and are greeted by a plethora of screams, cries of hep, and people demanding backup. Its kinda hard to tell from the massive amount of voices, but it seems its ten Epics against six enemy Epic who are supported by mechs and tanks. You motion for everyone to patch into it, sending your group into silence. The radio keeps breaking in and out, a large storm cloud pouring down rain in the battlefield.

"We should probably go help them," Andrew says. Everyone finishes up their food, you taking a final bite of blueberry cobbler. The steel armor reforms, having been dropped while you were eating. Sydney grows a coat of crystal, shimmering blue on her torso.

You start on the way, pulling up more steel than previously possible from the ground. As you near the battlefield, a wide strip of beach and a part of the town, the sounds of fighting start to fill the air. Rain does as well, pattering on the sand. A loud crack rocks the air, at the same time a lightning bolt strikes the beach. Your close to the beach, on El Union Avenue. A line of tanks is on the beach, firing streams of tracers past the houses. You can't tell where or what they're shooting at, though it likely isn't a defender.

What? Do you mean insulated?
>>
>>36453013
Meaning they shock you if you touch them.

>>36452987
Then we stick steel to them so the lightning which is already drawn towards high metal and electricity anyways hits them. Also have Sam cloak make us attack from a seemingly different direction. Then draw our guns and start shooting.
>>
>>36452987
then plug barrels and rip and tear with spears
>>
>>36452987
In that case we can't touch them, so launch our steel javelins at the tanks while the rest of our group with ranged powers to attack them.
>>
>>36453013
Its conductive, with a separate power source to let it shock anything that lands on it. Hammerfall inc. is a real asshole like that
>>
Get Sydney to see if she can cancel the electric field with her water bending
>>
You lift as many pieces of steel from the road as possible, making them into long and thin spears. Fifty yard long, you shoot a rod into the closest tank.It cuts through the aluminum plates, before getting stuck in something. You spread out the bottom, letting it worm it's way into the crevasses in the machinery. You run behind the tanks, cloaked in Sam's illusions. You repeat the process in three of the other tanks, making it look like a series of pencils stuck in erasers.

A massive boom goes out, as lightning forks across the sky. It's drawn to the rods, coursing down into the tanks. They light up as the energy hits, a series of pops resounding through the air as the bullets go off. All of the stalk bearing tanks sink back on their haunches, smoke pouring out of their cockpits.

That leaves two tanks still alive, and five Epics attacking your class in front of them. Two of your class are dead on the ground, from bullet wounds or fried by lightning. The storm is starting to abate, as the Epic controlling it doesn't want to fry any more tanks.

Rolled 72 (1d100)

>>36453286
Steel lances into the tanks finish them off then work on the epics.
>>
>>36453549
The lances got stopped in the armor the first time and the tanks only died because lightning hit the lances.
>>
>>36453576
Then we bend them to immobilize the tanks without touching them. If the treads and barrels can't move they are sitting ducks.
>>
You extract the steel poles from the tanks, letting them pool together in a ball the size of your car. You creep around the side of one of the tanks, the metal above the front of the barrels. You drop it down, letting the steel splatter on the tank. It creeps into the rotating cannon, pushed against the sides by centripetal force. The men inside fire off one of the blocked barrels, the bullet hitting steel and stopping.

The inside of the tank is filled with combustion gases, seeking the path of least resistance. One of the crew members is able to open the hatch, as he tries to crawl out you stab him through the eye. You pull all of the steel off the tank, reforming the ball.

A retreating Epic, attacked by Andrew and Sydney, stumbles into your range. A lasso of steel grabs hold of her, pulling her into the line of fire for the remaining tank. She screams loudly, the bullets stopping as they enter her body. Invulnerability, or maybe telekinesis. You manipulate the woman so her head is facing the barrels, tracing a line of blood as you turn her.

Her skull shatters after a few shots, grey matter splattering over the tank. You force steel into their barrels, giving a repeat performance of your last killing.

You take the steel from the tank, drawing it out of the tank barrels. You send the metal blob to encase the girl, then move her to y our side. The metal melts off of her, leaving her broken body on the wet sand. You reach down to touch her, pretending to be fixing her hair.

A rush of heat burns into your eyes, chills running down your body. With tears prickling your eyes, you stand back up.
>Absorbed Invulnerability
Get shot by a HMG and keep coming. Even large rifle rounds and shotgun slugs just knock the wind out of you. Explosives and tanks are a problem still.

You stand back up, leaving the dead girl to rest on the wet sand beach. You push back your brown hair, which has been stuck to your forehead for the last minute.

Then the mech shoots you with an anti-tank round.

You fly back, slamming into the side of the disabled tank. Your stomach spills out, ribs shattered by the round. Metal forms around you, your regeneration works overtime to repair the damage. You wheeze, feeling your lung punctured by a rib. The bone slowly dissolves, as a new one forms to replace it. As the ground shakes, you jerk your head to the side.

A titanium foot slams into the place you once were, before you vectored away. You shoot up, a metal shell protecting you. You land on a building, hiding behind a chimney. You hide there for two hours, as the battle goes on. Your ribs knit back together and your stomach scabs over and finally heals.

A black clad Epic, outlined in red light, jumps up onto your roof. "Hello there. Hiding like a little girl, huh? I'll put you down then."

"Its been a blast, but I must be going," A purple light pools in his hand, inky light that takes in more light than it gives off. He fires it into you armor, a metal plate forming on your arm. It atomizes the steel, losing all control of the hit metal. Its gone, thats the only way to describe it.

You form steel spikes, each the size of a bee, coving all of your upper body. The spikes come off your body, a cloud condensing of steel spikes. The spikes shoot up, curving in four different paths to his body.

A coating of purple covers his body, but not before a spike stabs into his leg. The rest are burned up by the purple light. He starts falling, and you push him into the building. He phases through the building's ceiling, leaving a man-shaped hole. Beams of the light burn through the ceiling, forcing you to jump off the building.

You land on the street, a cloud of asphalt chips shooting up. Arm-length spikes of steel are fired into the building, through the plate glass window. He cries out inside the building, everything in ten yards evaporating in purple light.

The man is in a deep crater, his arms glowing purple. You cry out to him, firing a cloud of spikes at the same time.

"So tired I just got done buggering your mum and the old slag just don't stop. Are you gonna die like a bitch, you limey faggot?"

You force the steel in his leg up, making it into a miniature sawblade. It spins around in his leg, cutting muscle and tendon. He collapses, his right leg a bloody mess. He forces his hand against the blade, purple light glowing. The blade vaporizes, his leg undamaged by the light.

He fires a beam at you, a glancing blow that destroys your left-hand's fingers. The bleeding stops within a few seconds, slowly regrowing the fingers. You fire more blades, along with shooting a piece of steel into the ground.

You walk up to the lip of the crater, looking down on the shattered form of the Epic. You punch down at him, vectoring his leg into the ground. He cries out, a bloodcurdling scream. He fires a beam at you, burning away your right arm at the elbow.

A halo of steel forms around his body, a spinning blade. He shots his beam at it, burning it until all that remains is a dollar bill sized blade over his body. You shoot it down into his body, unknowing of where it'll land. Judging from his string of profanity, it was near his crotch.

Your armor melts off of you, useless shit it is. It takes the form of a dome of spikes, floating independent of each other. One spike digs under the ground, independent of the others.

"know this is painful but I'm still Ironing out the kinks of this attack. You'll just have to steel yourself for the pain. Take it as the cost of metalling in my affairs." The blades shoot inwards, stabbing at the ruined form of the Black clad Epic. The ones in the air are vaporized by the Epic.

Then the worm shoots into his head. The back of his head disappears, the skull becoming an empty space with blood seeping into the ground. You fire more steel into him, separating his head from his neck.

You walk down into the crater, looking down on his body. You grab hold of his head, feeling the familiar spike of heat in your eyes.
>Absorbed Disintegration Beam(I)
The ability to produce energy that can disintegrate flesh, stone, and metal. At level one, touch based.

You climb from the large crater, having to vector to get over the sheer sides.

So, really, it's not much of a beam right now. More that it just lets us coat a hand in the disintegration energy? Still pretty cool. Probably will be useful as fuck. Sneak up behind a guy, disintegration finger right into the back of the skull.

I don't have to assume shit. We can only hold 4 powers currently. It has to replace disintegration because we told the higher ups about regen/super strength/steel manipulation and suddenly losing one of them would be a major problem
>2. every time we absorb a power we get stronger (more XP).
And? We can go after living enemies to make sure we get good powers instead of going for random corpse shit.
>3. if we absorb a power we already have, it upgrades it. there are plenty of invulnerables, super strenghers, and regenerators around to loot power from.

>>
>>36456815

All but Disintegration are kayfabe powers we kinda need them for cover not to be blown. We're good with what we have for now.
>>
>>36456826
>I don't have to assume shit
Yes you do. you are assuming it replaces disintegration.

option a: we choose what get replaced
option b: we can choose to discard the new power once we see what it is (since we don't know until we try)
option c: it replaces the weakest power (disintegration
option d: it replaces the newest power (disintegration
option e: it replaces the oldest power (regeneration)

etc... there are a fuckton of possibilities, you don't know which will happen. you are guessing it means "drop disintegration".

Ideally, we start absorbing it, and if it is not an upgrade to an existing power (ex: regen, invulnerability, etc) then we can choose whether to drop it or replace a power of our choice.
if it replaces a power automatically on its own. well we better damn find out about it ASAP.

>It has to replace disintegration because we told the higher ups about regen/super strength/steel manipulation and suddenly losing one of them would be a major problem
>It has to work in a way that doesn't cause political issues
really? so shit always goes your way?

>And? We can go after living enemies to make sure we get good powers instead of going for random corpse shit.
We get XP regardless. its about 150XP per corpse regardless of who killed it. and regardless of what power it has/gives

>And you want to scavenge randomass corpses so that we have no idea what we're getting.
We have no way of knowing with living enemies either, the typical epic has up to 5 different powers. we only get one.

>It probably won't be something we already have
invulnerability, strength, and regen are common as shit
>>
>>36456899
>Not likely. And we don't know that we get to choose which one we lose. We could lose steel, and then our cover would be blown.
its almost like I EXPLICITLY SAID that we need to find out NOW while the loss isn't catastrophic. or would you rather accidentally lose steel manip 10 in the future because of punching someone to death?

>>36456869
>No, we have 0 IN CHARACTER reasons to drop the powers we have
we have EVERY reason IN CHARACTER to drop the powers we have if we find better ones.
For example, people were fucking jizzing themselves over the duplication ability.
Also, way to go ignoring the whole "levelup existing powers if you steal them" as well as every argument actually made.

Also,
>Assuming growth is not in character and is a totally meta thing.
way to go assuming. He FEELS his powers growing every time he steals from someone. and he knows from vector he can get better with practice. so "practice" power stealing to get better with it makes sense.
>>
>>36456943
You do realize that if they find us out we are deader than dead right? Pretty much any other epic would come after us on principle for our natural power set. also power steal only nets 50 kills net 100

>You're a moron. It's the exact same thing

>Limit on how many powers you can hold = Touch the corpse, feel the power come in... too much to hold, must discard a power (either by choice or at random)

completely different things. And the fact is, we have seen ourselves grow better with vectors via simple practice, no reason to not think we can grow better at power theft via practice
>>
>>36457012

unless we lose a random power and lose out steel manip, we can recover from it. potentially without being found out.

Letting the map on the visor guide you, you start walking to the FOB. Its quite a bit in front of where you destroyed the tanks, actually on a separate island. Flat island's the name. Very original, from the makers of door stop and oranges.

There it is! You walk across the water, a piece of steel beneath your feet. Once setting foot on the island, you can understand the name. It's flat. And its an island. Rows of tents are set up, with one large tent serving as the mess hall. On a wooden board, is a list of bunks. Cool, you're bunking with Nathan and Andrew. Tent C8.

You walk over to the mess hall, arm slowly regrowing. You get in line with a lot of the other Epics, waiting to be served. Steak with baked potatoes and a nice salad. You sit in one of the tables, tearing into the food. Nathan sits down next to you, then Sydney on your other side. Being armless is a bit annoying, so you form a steel one out of forks.

Nathan and Sydney look like shit, hair ripped out or burned off, a large scab on Nathan's arm, and Sydney with what looks like a regrown ear.

And we can move way more than a fist. we used that power to toss ourselves from ground floor high up easily. and to massively accelerate our massive steel demon, and the like.
The reason we had trouble moving the first of enemy supers is because they had super strength and resisted our TK with their muscles, we had no such problems with the disintegration guy.

As for how specifically, by changing our tactics. instead of giant demon. rely on our invulnerability and regeneration for stregnth and vector manip steel balls in a swarm. saying you are trying different tactics. as our power with vectors grow, we will eventually be able to reflow steel into a demon if we so wanted. and for the interim, nobody will question us changing our tactics around

>Mutilate corpse in pretend rage / for humor purpose

>Dead ally?
>Check pulse
>Perform CPR
>Carry to healers

So many reasons to touch corpses its not even funny.

OK TIME TO PUT ALL XP INTO POWERSTEAL

power steal the best

>>36457910
Do we get things like half-level absorption at some point? Like if we get a lv10 lightning shooter, we get lv5 lightning?

did you follow the conversation?

ok
>Harvest cells from 20 corpses
>Only 4 were fresh enough to count
>3 had shit power, discarded
>1 had good power, stolen an upgrade to invulnerability
>Got massive cash bonus for harvesting corpses
>Lost nothing for the attempt
>>
>>36457923
True enough but timing is still tricky, lets hold off on hunting till we get our allies back into decent shape and ourselves for that matter.
>>
>>36457932
>>36457935
Other advantages of power steal is that each level gives us more slots to play with.
>>
>>36457955
yeah, level 10 for 1/2 level
>>
>>36457966
oh sure. i mean. its not like we go AWOL to hunt corpses.
just, if we get the CHANCE to, there is no reason to pass on it. since worse case scenario we sense it has a crappy power and just abort it like a poor baby
>>
>>36457992
what is max level?

"Sorry for disappearing guys, took an anti-tank rifle to the gut, had to hole up to heal. Then some asshole with a cockney accent and a disintegration beam jumped me. You guys ok? Seen any of the others?Oh, and FYI, getting gut shot sucks ass."
"Null Field? That guy is a High Epic! How'd you kill him?" Nathan asks, feeding a piece of his steak to his bird.
"Lots of steel." You pause for effect. "Surprised him to, spike through the neck. Not before he took my arm off, though." You lift up your steel arm to show them. "So, wheres Sam?
"She's up on the front lines. Helping finish the other Epics off. We'll have to go there tomorrow, but you might get out of it cause your arm." Sydney says, pointing her fork at the silver hand.
"He'll be fine after a day. Most regenerators can lose arms and wake up the next day fine." Nathan counters.
>Anything else?

Don't go to bed, we owe sam, we gonna go watch her back for a while too.

I wonder if we should have harvested the cells of that guy. he is high tier so its worth a lot but... nah fuck its better we don't. its OUR power now
>>
>>36458068
>Don't go to bed, we owe sam, we gonna go watch her back for a while too.
that is the excuse that is, I want to see if we can score better regeneration off some scrub.

That, or we can just give the fun excuse.
>>
>>36458024
Guys You know what happened to me, but what happened to you? Seriously there has to be a story. Also anything on Andrew or the other guys? I got knocked out of the loop .

>That guy is a High Epic
what does high epic mean?

also, didn't we kill 3 epics today? (and got injured heavily twice).
>>
>>36458114
Yes and yes. High epic are people who could conceivably take and rule a city on their own. The generals and leaders of an Epic army. Steelheart is a high epic.
>>
>>36458112
haha, i like it.
i guess we need to find a commanding officer? or do we just walk back to the front lines?

and hey, I wonder if there is a bonus for killing that high epic guy
>>
>>36458141
>Steelheart is a high epic.
sounds like someone who will upgrade our steel control
>>
>>36458173
He's got invulnerable 15 anon he could take a fusion bomb and laugh it off. he also has a suite off other extremely strong and fuckawfully dangerous powers.
>>
>>36458191
Does disintegration ignore invuln or does it just have a really high damage output?
>>
>>36458191
I didn't say it would be easy.
>>
>>36458093
>>36458097
"Normal clearing. A few Epics, one was really fast. I couldn't catch him," Sydney says, stuffing a piece of lettuce into her mouth. "Finally got him with a guy who could control earth. James made a giant pit, and when the runner fell in, he buried him."

"Andrews at the frontlines with Sam and Artemis." Nathan says, he gets back up to get another steak.
>>
>>36458207
it says flesh, stone, and metal so it should. problem would be disintegrating the flesh faster than it regens
>>
>>36458227
>"Andrews at the frontlines with Sam and Artemis."
Didn't we sleep with all 3 of them?
>>
>>36458234
He regens at light-speed?

sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
>>
>>36458234
that doesn't mean that invulnerability can't partially or fully negate it.
its not normal flesh anymore, its invulnerable flesh

>>36458248
or like cell or majin buu from DBZ
>>
>>36458207
Really high out put, he no sold someone called Deathpoint who had similar powers, he literally cannot be hurt if you don't know his weakness. Plus he can fly and has laser eyes.

>>36458208
Nigh on impossible unless we get majorly swole even then we'd be having a Sisyphean struggle.

>>36458234
He doesn't have regen (thank god) but he can no sell disintegrates.
>>
>>36458234
>>36458248
>>36458260
>>36458264
if we hit him with a full level disintegration beam long enough to wear it down we might have a shot, even that's a maybe
>>
>>36458289
eh, its just a question of how swole we are
>Invulnerability 15
to match his
>Regen 15
now we got the upper hand
>Steel manip 15
matches his
>Vector 15
can out steel manip him if we boost it with this
>Disintegration 15
to overcome his invulnerability

etc

its just a matter of how swole.
of course, if we already got 15s across the board then there is little reason to fight... then again no. at level 1 power steal had 3 slots. and they go up by +1 per level. so at level 15 we would have 17 slots to fill. And can steal a power at level 15. meaning hunting high epics for those sweet level 15 powers.
>>
>>36458289
Pretty much.
>>
>>36458289
QM did say that brains beat brawn in a response to a "fight smarter" comment.
Superior strategy wins.

Heck, we just beat a high epic and its mostly cause he was too arrogant and saw an injured opponent, so he didn't bother to have his shield up or do a surprise attack. this allowed us to get that initial steel shard in his leg before he got his shield up, and mangle his leg. which was crucial for the fight
>>
>>36458340
He actually cant manipulate steel, oddly enough. Just make it. Working in Newcago would be great for using steel
>>
>>36458379
that would be a really delicious power for us to steal.
>>
>>36458379
>>36458397
can such closely related powers combine?
like "manipulate steel" and "create steel" combine into a "manipulate and create steel"? (that is, take one slot, and share XP)
>>
>>36458114
>High Epics are Epics that have a prime invicibility. A prime invincibility is a power that makes conventional assassination methods useless. Some examples are regeneration, impervious skin, precognition, and self-reincarnation.
I don't think this is the definition Nathan was using, since Null Field was very much killable by conventional means.
>>
>>36458424
Level four Power Steal lets you make a power permanent at a XP cost.

ALL XP INTO POWERSTEAL
>>
Invulnerability
Steelheart is impervious to harm from all known sources, including bullets, edged weapons, electricity and fire.
Super Strength
Inhumanly broad and tall, Steelheart is strong enough to crush bones and throw people with ease.
Wind Manipulation
Control of the wind grants Steelheart the ability to fly and pick up objects using the air around him.
Steel Transfersion
When angry, Steelheart spontaneously transforms non-living matter around him to solid steel, spreading out from him in a sphere. Steel and iron have the ability to "insulate" against the transfersion, but other metals are transformed to steel. As this ability is tied to his emotions, he sometimes uses it without intent.
Energy Beams
Steelheart can project energy beams from his hands that can vaporize people and melt steel with ease.
Eidetic Memory
Steelheart claims to remember everything perfectly, but this is not broadly established and may be boasting.

>I don't think this is the definition Nathan was using, since Null Field was very much killable by conventional means.
the null field was completely impenetrable until he was very injured in very in pain.
Initially, he under estimated us, instead of blasting us from surprise with null field on, he came to banter with it off. we manage to hit him in the leg with a shard before he raised it
at that point he was completely invulnerable to all our steel attacks except for maniipulating the shard already in his leg.
Once he was in enough pain and bloodloss, we were able to cause distraction with using vector manip to hurt his palped leg to allow some steel to slip through his defenses.

>>36458468
nice. I still wold like to merge powers just for the feeling of "crafting" (every indie game has to have crafting).
but in some ways this is even better (more costly in terms of XP, but can get as many powers as we want as long as we got XP)
... holy shit, our power lets up break the power cap!

I kind of want to cover Sam as well. I mean, I liked her before wanted to bully her, but now she has gone and saved our lives, and genuinely seems to like us. We owe her, at the very least.
>>
>>36458500
that has always been the plan we just spent some so we didn't just have level 1 powers for a big battle
>>
>>36458024
get back to the fight we don't need two arms to fuck shit up
>>
>>36458605
Someone could just kill him in his sleep.
>>
To people saying to go help Sam, we'll fight with her next thread. She has Andrew and Artemis to protect her, and she is in the background to provide illusions
>>
>>36458881
that is true.
I think he mainly compensated for it with how OP his power was. Even if he technically does not meet the definition.
>>
>>36458823
>wanted to bully her with the penis
FTFY

>>36458861
I think we are going to have to get used to that. we just can't survive on nothing BUT power steal. we pretty much have to put something in some combat powers
>>
>>36459062
not true at all smarts beat power every time we just got to be creative.

we took down some one with a level 8 power because we fought smart,
>>
>>36459104
>not true at all smarts beat power every time we just got to be creative.
I didn't say that power > than brains. I said that power steal has to be balanced with offensive powers.

And actually, it is a gross exaggeration to say smarts always win. some power gaps are insurmountable

Also, tg has moments of brilliance, but often a lot of stupidity as well. relying on tg to always be smart is dumb
