You’re back home in your keep, having just returned from Hell. Hyalia delivered your message to Queen Vilyeten and returned offering a meeting in a day. In the meantime you are eager to get home, wash Hell off you, and relax.

As you soak in soapy hot water you think about what you decided, keeping the number of Succubi immigrant at no more than 15% of your reams existing population seems like a suitable compromise. If you had your way you’d take all of those that wanted to come, but you have to take practicality into consideration to. Similarly, you’re not exactly comfortable with the idea of population control, but a maximum of 2 children per succubi makes sense for now, as well as ensuring that the succubi cannot outnumber the mortals in your realm.

The legal implications of a large number of magical beings residing in your realm are still a tangle to you. As you like in your bath you consider whether or not you should consult some legal experts as you try to recall your classes on law from your training days.

Your musings are interrupted by a knock at the door, and Jals voice comes through the wood “Oi, Baroness prune, enough soaking, come out and be social! Angelmum is back.”
>>
There wasn’t much more than cursory introductions whilst in Hell. Your mother left to speak to Velya as soon as you returned a few hours ago, seems she’s returned. You need to properly introduce her to your family, you also need to discuss with your sister her restrictions for the Succubi settling in her realm, as well as Ellahis plans. Ebby seemed pretty shaken up by what happened in Hell, you should probably talk to her as well. Although Jal seems physically recovered from her surgery and doesn’t appear to remember it, you might want to talk to her about it. Gemyael, the angel in the sword that your mother is now carrying, put your mother and your sister at each others throats, you might want to talk to him about the misunderstanding

Thanks for continuing the discussion. To clarify a few points that players seemed uncertain on:

Existing Laws

There’s several different types of laws: Crown Law (covers the whole kingdom); Church Law (covers the church in question); Dukes/Barons Law (covers only their realm); and City Law (including town and villages).

Crown Law overrides all other laws, Duke overrides Baron, Baron overrides City. Church Law is an exception: Churches can make their own laws, but can only assign mandatory punishments to their own clergy – punishments for lay members are voluntary, though if a person refuses to undergo the punishment, the church typically refuses to deal with them.

So you can make laws concerning Succubi that do not conflict with your Dukes or Kings Laws as a Baron, and as a Saint you can make religious laws that do not conflict with the Kings Laws.

As a Baron you are also allowed to interpret Crown Law: for example, whilst the penalty for worshipping demons is usually death, you are well within your legal rights to commute a persons sentence to imprisonment – on the basis that this particular individual hasn’t actually done any (or much) harm. Different nobles and judges might not agree with you of course, though judges within your realm usually try to follow your rulings.

The following concerns Crown Law: other laws vary too much by area to list fully.

How Laws Treat Demons

The existing laws make no actual provisions for demons living in Dornmer other than classifying them as *non-mortal creatures within the borders* - meaning that they are subject to the usual laws of the kingdom.
>>
However worshipping demons and making pacts and bargains with them is illegal – and the default penalty is death. This is because demon worshippers have historically caused a great deal of suffering in Dornmer and the surrounding kingdoms. Depending upon how a judge or a noble wanted to stretch the law, selling goods to a demon could be defined as bargaining with one, as the definition of bargaining with demons is deliberately vague in the law. The default is for magical power but the writers of the law knew that people might bargain with demons for all sorts of purposes, and whilst they listed a lot of these within the law, they also put *and for any other purpose* at the end. Interestingly the law has no penalty for the demon doing the bargaining – only the person bargaining with them.

Laws concerning summoned demons typically concern the responsibility of the summoner for the demons actions.

Laws & Magic

Laws treat magic as a weapon and a tool: attacking someone with a spell is the same as attacking them with a weapon. Using magic to see into a persons house is the same as trespassing etc.

Crown law defines two types of magical coercion: Charm and Dominate. Charm includes abilities that leave the victim with some free will, but also confuse and manipulate them. Dominate includes abilities that take control of the victim, leaving them with no, or almost no free will.

Using Charm on someone without their permission is generally seen the same as drugging them but the punishments vary depending upon what you did whilst having them under your power: Making them just act foolish results in light punishments, making them commit crimes typically has the same or harsher punishments than if you committed the crime yourself. The person under the effects of a charm spell typically receives the minimum punishment for crimes they committed whilst charmed. Based on the advice of mages the law recognises that even charmed people know what they are doing.
>>
Dominate spells (and similar abilities) result in harsher punishments for the controller, and typically none for the victim for any crimes they commit: unless there is enough evidence that the victim willingly submitted to the dominate spell for the purpose of avoiding punishment – then they face the full penalty of the law.

Shapeshifting (and illusion) spells are legal, but using them to impersonate a noble a member of the clergy or their representative is illegal. Using to impersonate an ordinary person isn’t illegal, unless you try to get that person in trouble whilst impersonating them – this is seen as a legally grey area that often comes down to the view of the judge.

Life-draining spells are treated as any other harmful spell: the same as hurting someone with a weapon, though if the victim refuses to lay a complaint or testify then usually no charges are bought. One of the controversies surrounding mages is that wealthy mages will extend their life and/or youth by using spells to drain the life force of the poor and the desperate. By paying the victim not to testify they avoid punishment. Many mages guilds ban this practise and will exclude members caught doing it.

Demon-worshipping Cults Exist in Dornmer but are rare.

Succubi need to eat food, but less than humans, they also need air, water and sleep, but their need for all of these is less, typically one-quarter of what a human needs. Succubi are full demons, but as they were originally created to imitate and interact with mortals, they share some mortal frailties.

Concerning Salvastis’ tactics: Now that the fight is over do players want to know what could have gone wrong? Or would you prefer that stay a mystery?

Laws have been added to setting.

The vote at the end of last thread regarding additional restrictions was NOT about removing the ability of a succubus to use their powers in self-defence. That would be an unusual choice for Sireyi to make and if it ever were put to a vote it would be explicit.

The option was more about what restrictions (if any) the players wanted to define, other than simply using the existing laws.

Wow, thanks for the info dump.
It makes it look to me like we don't need more restrictions, rather we need a revision of existing laws to make living for them inour land possible in the first place.

Sure, I'd love to hear it.

“Coming Jal!” you say, rising from the tub of water “Just wait there, I’ll only be a few minutes.”

“Ya want me ter come ter ‘ell with yer and yer won’ even lemme take a bath wi’ yer” Jal complains through the door as you dry yourself and get dressed “this relationship is all take an’ no give I tells yer!”

She rambles on, but you can hear the happiness in her voice as she talks, eventually, once you are fully clothed, you open the door “Maybe” you say dryly “if you are really good, I’ll *give* you something later.”

Jal takes her time looking you up and down slowly, taking in the casual green dress you are wearing until you start to feel yourself begin to blush. She whistles “promises, promises.”

The two of you head down to one of the smaller social rooms, where your family are: your double, Ebonsong, both Sofias, Isla and Mili and Vivi, with Ophinus hovering over the children, keeping them entertained for now. And of course, your mother.

She’s looking much better now after visiting Velya: The grime and filth of Hell has been removed and she’s wearing a long white and silver dress “My daughter” she says fondly, coming over to embrace you. You return the hug and close your eyes, you’ve waited a long time to see your mother again. You don’t even remember your mother from before, but this feeling you being in her arms is so comforting, at the same time both strange, and familiar to you, it’s as if she’s carrying you, and that whilst holding you, nothing can go wrong. Eventually you open your eyes and look up at her: She’s crying, tears running down her cheeks, but she’s smiling the most radiant smile.

“My Sireyi” she says “My beautiful baby, all grown up.”

“Yeah” you respond, tears starting to run down your cheeks “I guess I am.”

The rest of your family is quiet as the two of you just stare at each other for a while. Then you remember your manners and start introducing everyone by name.
>>
“Hi” says your sister, giving your mother a wave, her expression unreadable, until your mother pulls her into a hug saying “I’m so sorry to have attacked you my dear, demon or not, any fiancée of my daughter is a friend of mine. You must tell me how you met, and why do you have the same name?”

You watch a number of emotions chase across your sisters face: shock, joy, confusion and worry.

“Actually” she says, a mischievous look on her face as she hugs your mother “It’s more complicated than that...”

“Oh?” says your mother, pulling back from the hug with your sister and looking at the both of you “do tell.”

Your sister opens her mouth to speak, but you wonder if letting her explain is a good idea, or whether you should. Plus the news that the Lord of Life is back *is* important, but could end up taking over the whole conversation.

Salvastis' Tricks (spoilers)

Metal Rods: Would redirect your lightning powers to target anyone he wanted, could also be used to transform the lightning into healing for himself.

Soul-Draining Spears: Can't actually kill a god, or drain your soul, but still hurt, and can knock you out. Also planned on using them to drain your mothers soul, or one of your allies then use them to bargain with.

Teleport-Contingency: Had you not killed him at the end he would have used a quick teleport along with a contingency that blocks divination followed by dozens of illusion spells of Salvastis, including ones covering you and your allies. He'd then kill or take hostage whichever allies he thought you cared about more, whilst hiding amongst the illusions.

Flee: He would have fun from an Angel army.

Well, it would be rude to interrupt...

“So once upon a time” says your twin “An angel called Sireyi got bound in chains and was fitted with an obedience collar to be sold as a sex-slave, but since some wizards have really weird tastes and poor imaginations, he decided that having one of something is great, but having two of something is better, and variety being the spice of life, he decided to create a demonic version of the original.” As your mother’s jaw drops your brain struggles with what exactly your twin was thinking whilst at the same time trying to think of some way to salvage this.

Fortunately Jal interrupts “Hey I was going to use the sex-slave story, no fair stealing!”

A look of understanding comes over your mothers face “Oh” she says “very funny, you had me there for a moment.” She puts a companionable arm around your sister “But really, when did you and my daughter meet, and what is your real name?”

Your sister looks uncomfortable and so you take over. “I’ve got some bad news” you tell your mother “One of the Lords of Life is back.” You explain about your adventures in the Drowned Lands, and your experiences there. You mention your sister being its creation, and initially its pawn: you frame her redemption as her throwing off its influence, something she looks uncomfortable with, but doesn’t contradict you.

Your mothers expression grows grim as she says “ten thousand years ago it woke, and we pt it to sleep again, maybe this time, I can finally kill it.” To your sister she says “well I truly do apologise for attacking you, Sireyi, my daughter.” And hugs her, holding her tight.
>>
Your sister seems frozen at first, and then she returns the hug fiercely, screwing up her eyes time in a futile attempt to stop the tears, until she’s openly sobbing as she hugs your mother. After a few moments you hug both of them, each opening their arms to include you. The rest of the world doesn’t matter for the next few minutes, until you’ve all composed yourself.

Next up, you introduce Ebonsong, in her humanoid form of course.

“Hiya!” says Ebby “Big sis has told me so much about you, mom!”

Your mother gives you a confused look “What has your father been up to whilst I was away? I knew he was fascinated with dragons, but more as a scholar than any romantic notions.”

Well that brings the mood down a little “Father is dead” you say, as your mother puts a reassuring hand on your shoulder “I know” she says “Velya let me say goodbye to him, he’s very happy, and he’s proud of you.”

Ebby is barely containing herself, almost bouncing on the spot, seems she wants to tell your mother all about herself, in her own somewhat scattered fashion.

You decide to let Ebonsong tell her own story, and she does, after a fashion.

“I was hatched an underground cavern and there was great-great-great-great-grandad there and big sister and then we went outside and we went to this Island and we met Sofia and she’s a princess and she’s like big sis but not totally like her but Sofia didn’t know and thought big sis was just like her and then big sis got kidnapped and me and Sofia and Bokin had to rescue her but not because she’d rescued herself because she’s Big Sis and then....”

Having lived through the events in question, you can follow along, but your mother is wearing a look of polite confusion, you’ll have to fill her in on the details later. You let Ebonsong get to the bit just before you met Ellahi and say “And that’s how I met my other sister, Ebby.” The sister in question beams at you and cuddles into your mothers embrace enthusiastically as your mother hugs her.

“Now” your voice comes out as a whisper, you try again “now there’re three very important people I want you to meet: my fiancées.” You motion your Sofia, Jal and Isla to come forward and introduce them to your mother as she reluctantly releases Ebonsong. Your mother greets each of them, hugging them and then taking them by the shoulders and looking at them thoroughly, using what Angelic senses, you don’t know.

“A paladin” she says of Sofia “One of Konigs, well met, champion of the Sword”

Sofia gives a regal smile, revealing nothing about her views of Konig “A pleasure” she says “to finally meet someone I’ve heard so much about.” Your mother kisses Sofia on the forehead.

“A lovely young woman” she says of Jal “Though you’ve seen a hard life, welcome.”

Jal appears to struggle with herself briefly, before deciding not to make a joke, yet “Same ter yer” she says “I can see where lady angel get her looks, nice ter meet yer.” Your mother gives a laugh and hugs Jal again, saying to you “Oh I can tell this one’s going to be fun.”

“Redeemed demon-blood?” She says of Isla, looking her up and down, Isla seems too shy to respond, simply blushing, you mother says “I’m sure you’ve chosen well my daughter, and I’m glad you know that not all demons are evil.”

She lets Isla go and says to you “So how did you meet them?”

Sofia seems fine talking, Jal starts grinning in an all-too familiar fashion, Isla just looks shy.

Oh well.

While true, I actually think that works well for Matthias.
Lets face i, he is the closest to a vanilla human we have in our group, among the Half-Angels, elfs, dragons, demon-blooded, divine descendants and exotic nobility from a mysterious far away land, he is the normal guy.
>>
“They can each tell you themselves” you say, with an encouraging smile at Isla, for Jal you give her a hard look and say “sticking to the facts of course” Jal tries to look like she hadn’t even considered doing otherwise, and fails.

Sofia starts “I’m Sofia Jalweyen, last queen of Hanse, and mortal descendent of Konig.” She gives a brief description of her early life “They day I met Sireyi was one of the happiest of my life: here I had found an equal, a sister, someone just like me.” She continues and describes up until you both met up again, with Jal in tow, ending “And I love Sireyi because she showed me who I could be, and every day she gives me an example to live up to.” Wow, is it hot in here, maybe someone should open a window?

“Konig?” says your mother in surprise “I didn’t know the stuffy old warrior had it in him to, still, well met, Sofia, warrior and Paladin.” She gives that title as if there is no question about Sofias right to it.

Jal picks up with her story “I grew up onna streets, I blessed pulls and stole from jacks, I ain’t ashamed o’ what I did, cuz I never knew there was a better way, I allus thought *this is the whole world* you eiver have, or you don’t have, and if yer don’t have, yer take what yer get. When I met luv, we wuz both in a cage wi’ chains fer the entertainment o’others” She notices your raised eyebrow and clarifies “on account of us both being captured, we wusn’t doin it fer clink.” She tells the tale up to you meeting up with Sofia, and then they each take it in turns describing your adventures in Drache, with Ebonsong chiming in occasionally. Jal is mostly behaving, though she seems to have an excellent memory for every single time you shared a bed, lamenting it as a missed opportunity. Jal finishes with “an I luv me angel, because, well I just do ok?” she gives your mother a defiant look “She’s not scared of nuffin and she’s always willing ter ‘elp anyone.” Ah, yeah, you’re blushing, why are you blushing?
>>
All eyes turn to Isla and she seems to shrink, you take her hand, kiss her on the cheek and prompt her “When I met Isla” you say “I was recruiting for a mission, I had no idea at the time the person I would meet would becomes one of my closest friends, and someone I would fall in love with...” Encouraged, Isla takes up the tale, describing your hunt for the Horn of Alzured. “When Sireyi disappeared in that circle” she says “I felt like my heart had been torn out, like my whole world had come to an end.” She continued with your adventures after your return, including her transformation into a part-demon, then part-angel ending with “I love Sireyi because she showed me a way to freedom, a way to making my own choices, and taught me not to be afraid.” Your blush reaches critical levels.

Your mother listens attentively to each story, joy visible on her face as the stories take happy turns, misery as they take sad ones. At the end she walks over to the other Sofia, standing unobtrusively at the back “and you my dear, are you Sofias twin?”

The other Sofia looks uncomfortable, your sister steps in “Before I found myself” she says “I was very lonely, I used my powers to create a duplicate, another Sofia. I picked her” she says taking the other Sofias hand with a fond smile “Because I needed someone stubborn enough to knock sense into my skull if I ever started doing something stupid.”

Sofia just looks embarrassed, this changes to a look of surprise as your mother sweeps her up in a fierce hug “You are more than your origins” you hear her whisper to Sofia “And thank you for looking after my daughter during what must have been a difficult time for both of you, you will always have a place in my heart, Sofia, friend and Paladin.”

The other Sofia just closes her eyes and returns the hug, tears beginning to leak down her cheeks “Thanks” she says simply.
>>
Ophinus flies over, perching on your shoulder. Once your mother has finished with Sofia, she comes over to greet him “Your first angel” she says, shaking Ophinus’ hand with her own “Sofia told me”

“Greetings mother of my Creator” says Ophinus “It is an honour to meet you”

“The honour is all mine” says your mother, bowing her head “First Angel of the Goddess Sireyi.” You have a feeling that means something, you can ask later.

Then your mother turns her attention to Vivi and Mili, both playing on the floor with their toys “Sireyi?” she says, an amused tone in her voice “Is there a fourth person in your life you’ve not introduced me to yet – a husband or wife?”

I like this Mom character. Guess Sireyi takes after her.
>>
>>36347903
Their story is kind of short.
>Wild magic effect, aligned to Velya
>The girls were in the same room and the magic zapped them.
The struggles of knowing your allies (remember, they had not yet been lovers) are pregnant while you are fighting Demon Lords in their own plane, that's a more interesting tale to tell.
>>
>>36348002
Well, the only ones in the same room without some natural magic resistance at the time, at least.
>>
>>36348002

Let's frame it as a chance blessing rather than magical accident though
>>
>>36348020
I'm still convinced Velya did it.
Of all possible magical accidents, too much coincidence.
>>
okay now I'm wondering what would have happened if a guy was in the room at the time of wild magic pregnancy.
>>
>>36348050
Pregnancy would have happened, magic doesn't care.
>>
>>36348050
Nothing, because a guy was in the room and nothing happened.
>>
>>36348050
A tumor that would have slowly killed him before we would have known what is wrong, leaving Sireyi with guilt of having killed a person with her curiosity, forever reminding her of the cost she paid for her two children, tainting every joyful moment with them.

Nah, he would have just gotten pregnant too, because magic.
>>
>>36348063
I don't actually remember much of that scene, were Gendric and Bokin in the room back then?

He would have gotten a sex change, at least a temporary one, for good measure.

>>
You thought you couldn’t blush any harder, how wrong you were. “Velya” you blurt out “It’s Velyas fault!”

Your mother turns to stare at you “exactly how close a relationship do you have with Our Lady?” she asks in stunned tones.

Ah, that’s not quite what you meant. You struggle to rephrase that as your sister mutters something about “getting on your knees to please your Goddess.”

Fortunately for you, Sofia picks up the story, unfortunately, so does Jal. “I’m no wizard” says Sofia “But as I understand it, wild magic can have a variety of effects, depending upon the source of the mages power.” Your mother nods as Sofia continues “As Sireyi is a part-angel, and a follower of Velya, I guess some of her powers are related to uh, well” now it’s Sofias turn to blush, she pushes on regardless “Anyway, Sireyis powers ran wild once, and Jal and I were nearby, sometime later we discovered we were both with child. It was unexpected” she says, with a fond smile at the memory “But we both decided it was a blessing and we would keep the children, and that no matter what happened, Sireyi would be a part of our children’s lives.”

“Why did you ask if I had a husband?” you as your mother a little waspishly “You know what followers of Velya are capable of.”

Your mother steps close to you, putting her hands on your shoulders and looking down at you with a fond smile. You hear very soft footsteps behind you as your mother says “Your father was so sure he was going to raise you to be the perfect human noble: including their silly notions of chastity until marriage, I’m glad you’ve grown beyond such limiting notions, and you’ve found three wonderful women to share your life, and your bed with-” She keeps talking but you aren’t listening, you give a strangled sound as you try to explain. Isla blushes, Sofia laughs – in fact most of the people in the room seem pretty amused by this turn in the conversation. Except Jal, wait, where did Jal go?
>>
Arms embrace you from behind, her hands rubbing along your waist and then sinking down further, almost indecently down “That’s not all” says Jal brightly, poking her head around you and addressing your mother “Yer can expect a few more grandkids soon, angelmum.”

Your mother looks at you with concern “Sireyi, are you pregnant? Really, you shouldn’t have carried a child in Hell, think of the risks.”

It’s a little while before you can speak coherently, after that. Afterwards, once you have retained control of yourself, and your blush has died down, you recall you still have things to do. Tomorrow you are due to meet Queen Vilyeten, but today you have to yourself.

You could simply relax after your trial in Hell and spend the time with your family, and deal with problems later, or you could deal with some of them now.

I looked it up, and all of our party was int he room apparently.
However, I also found that we didn't actually trigger the wild magic effect at all. Elahi did.
Think about that for a second.
>>
>>36348182
Additional amusing things I found while searching for the scene is all the discussion that was had back then about knocking up Sofia and the anon(s?) that raged about how that was "far too magic realm", and ""she totally isn't into us".
We were so innocent back then.
>>
>>36348158
>Talk to your sister (in her role as the Azure Empress)

>>36348182
The wild magic effect was stored in the node as a result of our automatic failure in the plains when experimenting with the node; the storm spawned from that incident was actually the previously stored spell being released.
>>
>>36348158
So did Sireyi ever mention that she is, in fact, still a virgin?

>Plan excursion to get those artifacts from the fortress.
Ideas for that:
>Mage guild to accompany the mission and help secure the area.
>Big folk (Beastmen, Ogres, Giants) as labourers, because of the unstable magic.
>Angel contingent to protect everyone.

Other things to do:
>Inform the King
He'd surely like to know that the Demon Invasion has be cancelled. Also about the Succubutts
>Plan wedding.
>Talk to Jal about traumatic happenings.
If the next time she is screaming for us to kill her, should we do it?
>Talk to Ebby about traumatic happenings.
She seemed to be upset about the demonic plane.
>>
>>36348198

Our experimentation prior to that didn't have a automatic failure.
We got found per scrying and had to flee.

Turning Sireyi or Sofia into a dickgirl to knock up the other one definitely would've been, and RoAL didn't exist back then, IIRC.

>"she totally isn't into us".
She wasn't at the time, as far as any of us could tell. It wasn't until the arena part that that became a possibility.

>>36348199
Those last two options would be the 'talk to Jal' and 'talk to Ebby' options.

Demons have probably looted the vault by this time, because they don't give a shit about casualties in retrieving the weapons.
>>
>>36348199
Did we ever even tell him one was planned?
>>
>>36348240
Its a big fortress, magical means of clearing it are unfeasible, it has only been a day and they were most likely also concerned with other things, now that they are newly free and trying to gain control of the plain.

I expect it to take about 1d6 days until one of them has assembled enough cannon-fodder to clear the rubble.
>>
>>36348199
Sounds like a great plan. I'll support it for the future
>>
>>36348264
>they were most likely also concerned with other things
Things other than arming up their fledling armies? What? No, they weren't. Plundering the remains of the treasury and armory would be the first thing they do.
>magical means of clearing it are unfeasible
Not unfeasible, just dangerous and lethal, which they don't give a shit about.

Not to mention most if not all of it is destroyed anyway.
When you install a self-destruct in your fortress, you make sure that the treasury and the armory are the first part to get blown up.
>>
>>36348223
Yeah, it was only a single 1.

But the Wild Magic effects of the Node were still happening at that point in time.

If that's not enough for you, I have the e-mail where OP explained exactly how that wild magic effect came to be right in front of me.

>>36348243
Dunno, but even if we didn't (which would have been a dick-move), he prolly has sources. He might no it, or not.

>>36348276
>for the future
It's kind of time-sensitive. It's basically a huge pile of loot, just sitting around. As soon as someone with enough minions goes there, it will be gone.

>>36348290
>arming up their fledling armies?
Which armies? They were a bunch of demon nobles. And all the other Demons already have arms.

They do not currently have any demon armies. They need to gain control of the army first. And given that there are many competing Demons, this might take some time.

It is possible that someone managed to get hold of a ton of demons and started looting, but even then it will take some time. That was a gigantic fortress after all.
>>
>>36348335
>And all the other Demons already have arms.
But not from the special armory, they can't mass produce magic items as easily as we can, so its worth the risk to them.
>but even then it will take some time. That was a gigantic fortress after all.
The size of the fortress is largely irrelevant, they know where the armory is, so they only need to get to that part.
At best we would interrupt them during the excavation, and I have no interest starting a fight over the few trinkets that might not have been destroyed in the explosion.
Its just a waste of time.

> It's basically a huge pile of loot
No its not. The fucking fortress BLEW UP. Why don't ,you get that? A self-destruct mechanism made it explode. The majority of what was stored down there is DESTROYED. Because thats what you do when you install a self-destruct in your doom-fortress, destry the armory first, to deny your enemy the resources.
>>
>>36348335
>Also, no shit the last two options are talk to Jal and talk to Ebby. That's what I wrote down. I just added to it.
You added nothing, you just put 'about traumatic happenings', which is what the options are already about at the end.

>It's kind of time-sensitive. It's basically a huge pile of loot, just sitting around.
Time's probably already gone, and I doubt much survived. Salvastis wasn't retarded but was pretty spiteful, he would've made sure the armory is destroyed when he activates the self-destruct.

>Which armies? They were a bunch of demon nobles. And all the other Demons already have arms.
The ones run by the demon generals that came back when Salvastis bit the dust will probably want the *better* arms in the special armory.

>That was a gigantic fortress after all.
And all of them know the layout better than we do.
>>
>>36348310
I don't recall that, but if he did, why are you arguing?

It was our wild magic effect, stored in the box, released by Ellahi's tampering.
>>
>>36348335
>It's basically a huge pile of loot
Just reign in your murder-hobboism for a minute.
I get that shiny loot is awesome, we all think so.
But there is no shiny loot down there.
First of all, the stuff was corrupted for demon loot. Second most of the stuff we found in the angelic vault, wasn't that hot to begin with. Third of all, most of it got destroyed when the self-destruct hit. Fourth of all, exposing our allies to hell for a days or even hours and risk marauding demons killing some of them, or even injuring them, is just not worth it to Sireyi on the off-chance there might be one or two trinkets down there we could make ourself.

I get your need for loot hoarding, I really do, but the time for getting that loot was before facing Salvastis, we missed our chance.

As your mother makes a fuss of Vivi and Mili, who are both shameless in their desire for attention, your Sofia asks the servants to prepare a late breakfast. As your family sits around talking, you draw your sister off to one side.

“I’ve been thinking” you say to the Azure Empress “about the succubi coming here.”

“Go on” she says with a smile “Worried about your worshippers? I hear Gods sometimes resemble their followers, is your skin turning green yet? Having unexplained violent impulses?”

“This is serious” you say “There’s a lot to think about, how many to allow, what laws they have to follow, how many children they’ll have, what are you planning?”

Your double sighs “Sister” she says “Our realms are very different.”

“Still” you push “What are your plans?”

“For my empire?” she says “any and all succubi who want to come are welcome: they just have to be prepared to work hard, the population of the Tribal Lands is in the millions, if all million-and-a-half succubi joined, I’d be happy”

“You don’t rule the whole place” you points out “A temporary situation” she assures you.

“Ok” you say “so their future numbers aren’t a concern either?”

“Not right now” says your sister with a shrug “oh one day I might have to limit their numbers, but initially: they can have all the kids they want, as long as we have enough food.”

“What about their powers?” you ask “Their innate abilities have a lot of potential for abuse.”
>>
“Sister” she says, she seems to like that word “I understand you want to protect everyone’s rights, and dignity and freedom, I get that, I truly do. In my empire however, both orcs and beastmen will resort to cannibalism in lean times, they’ll kill each other over trivial disagreements and they only follow me because they know I can rip them apart. The Succubi will have free reign over their abilities until and unless it starts to look like a problem, then I’ll rein them in if needed.”

“I can see why you’ve made those decisions” you say “and I can’t really fault them” you give very cautious approval to her plan “Have you thought about trying to civilise them?” you ask “To teach them to talk out their problem, and not resort to violence?”

You sister shrugs “Right now I need warriors” she says “not diplomats, once my position is more secure, then I’ll think about trying to change their culture, until then, their violent tendencies are useful.”

“You really think I’ll turn into an orc?” you ask her worriedly, she laughs

“No, but you might become a succubus.” she suggests “if Jal has her way.”

You excuse yourself after breakfast to go and talk to Ellahi. A few spells later...

You find Ellahi on the way back from an evening social engagement, enjoying a quiet carriage ride home, she opens the door and invites you inside after you glide alongside and knock.

“Dear Sister” she says, pouring you a drink from the carriages built in liquor cabinet “To what do I owe the pleasure?”

“I’ve rescued my mother” you say “From Hell.”

“Here here” she says, raising her glass in a toast “May you have many more years together, and may my father never return.”

“But I also found some refugees” you explain about Queen Vilyeten, keeping your explanation brief, keenly aware of how quickly time flows here.

“Ah yes you said” she recalls “When shall I tell our resettlement department to expect the new arrivals?”

“First I wanted to ask” you say “How many you could take, what restrictions they might face on their number of children, and what laws they’d need to obey?”

Your sister gives a shrug: “In order?” she says “As many as want to, none whatsoever, and all of them.”

“Really?” you ask, a little surprised.
>>
“Sister” she explains tiredly “You think these are the first succubi we’ve had? Drache law already has provisions for demon powers, Succubi desire for children tends to die down after a few generations, once they see more of them growing to adulthood, and Drache is huge, oh sure” she concedes “A million in one go is more than we’ve ever taken in at one time, but the nation can handle it.”

“Ah good” you say, relieved, at least none will be left without a place to go. “But have you considered what to do if they don’t want to come here?” she asks

“What do you mean?” you ask

“Well the Tribal Lands” she says with a shudder “Sound awfully low-class, and Drache” she says “Has plenty of demons already – the succubi you rescue might not want to live in mud huts, and might not want to live in a place that, to them, looks like another Hell. A lot of them might want to live with their Saviour, more than you might want living there.”

Your mother has assured you that you handling the sword is safe, you wrap your sleeve around your hand before taking it, just to be sure.

You wander some distance from your family, concentrating intently upon the blade, trying to detect any possible demonic influence. Gemyael asks “What are you doing?”

“Trying to determine if you have any demonic influences.” You say

“I do” it says “I told you about them when we first met.”

“Not your powers you say “your mind.”

There’s a pause “I assure you” says Gemyael, sounding offended “My mind is fine, and not suffering from any demonic influences, thank you very much.”

“And yet” you say “you provoked a fight between my mother and sister.” You wonder if Isla or Philly should look at this sword.

“Syberis asked me a question” says Gemyael “And I answered, I’m sorry to have caused you or your family any harm, but I didn’t know you then.”

“Aren’t followers of Konig pretty callous towards demons anyway” you ask it

“We prefer to think that we have clarity of vision” he says stiffly “Besides, your sister killed a demon-blooded human, oh it was mostly demon, but it had some human blood in it.”

“In an extreme situation” you argue “The mission came first, and we couldn’t be discovered.”

“You are a powerful sorcerer” it responds “I saw you pick apart complex magics with ease, you could surely restrain one person.”

“We were in a demonic fortress” you say “magic could have been detected.”

“Well excuse me for not realising you had thought of everything” it says “Was there anything else?”

Seems like the sword knows he was wrong, but doesn’t want to admit it.

Assuming the church doesn't agree with the sword, they might try and refuse to return him.

An angelic Saint is probably better equipped to root out demonic influence anyway.
>>
>>36349713
We don't really have experience with that, so no we wouldn't.
I would think the Konigs church is better at trying to figure out if a angel of Konig is thinking right.

They can use him too, and, he kinda belongs to them. We can't just take a artifact of a different church and call dibs.

>>
“Nothing else” you assure the sword. You quickly fly to the Church of Konig in your town and are quickly escorted to see Ophilian.

“Sireyi!” she yells as soon as you are shown into her office, jumping up from her chair and rushing to hug you “I heard you were back, I’m so glad! What happened in Hell?”

You lay Gemyael one cabinet to one side and spend most of an hour telling Philly what happened in Hell. You also explain about Gemyael, and how worried you are that it might be suffering from some sort of demonic influence.

“No I’m not!” says Gemyael crossly. You and Philly share a look “I’ll take it to the Cathedral myself” she says “The priests there will find out if anything is wrong with it.”

“Thank you Philly” you say, taking your leave, after she makes you promise to come and see her with your mother later.

You return to your keep, and see your family walking your children around the top of the castle battlements, chatting amiably as Vivi looks at the views, and Mili defends the castle from imaginary attackers.

“What happened to Gemyael?” asks your mother as you land next to her.

“I was worried he might be suffering from some sort of demonic influence” you say “so I asked the Church of Konig to look at him.”

Your mother snorts “Not everyone who disagrees with you is ensorcelled my dear” she says

“He did put us at each other’s throats” you point out.

“He’s a Konigite” says your mother “black, white and smite are the only colours they see.”

“Still” you say “to be sure”

“Of course” she agrees “You can’t be too careful, still, he’s a well-known artifact of theirs: you’ll not see him again I think.”

People have a right to get angry at people making stupid votes because they have no idea whats going on, its just disruptive.
You aren't "participating" if you just vote for random shit whichs implications you don't know.
New readers are more than welcome, but yeah, we expect people to know whats going on before they decide on it.

>>36350789
Right sure... that thread in hell with the demon kid. I voted to "Stop her." Everyone else voted to trust the chick. I didn't know her and thought fuck are you doing she's strangling a kid!

>>
>>36350632
Sorry, I shouldn't have called you the worst kind of person; I've just had bad experiences with people who vote for stupid or OoC actions because they think it'll be 'interesting' in the past before and thought you were one of those kinds instead of just being new.

You should really read the archives before participating, or at least ask questions before voting so the players can give you context for the votes.

>>36350739
>Enchantment
You mean the school that consistent entirely of mental effects?
>>
>>36350819
>So take that into consideration.
There is nothing to take into consideration here. There was no "right choice" in that situation.
But you can't know that, because you know neither the MC nor the character in question.

I know its considered feeble hope to expect people to vote for In-character choices, but you could at least try, which you can't if you don't know the main characters personality.

So, do yourself and everyne else a favor and read the story before voting on stuff, because a lot of stuff going on requires knowledge from a dozen threads a go to take into account.
>>
>>36350873
I'll read them eventually. I'll keep voting now as well and you'll not be able to pick my vote out from the rest of them. Enjoy.

Its not actually enchantment, its debatable if its even really magic, but we had that discussion already.
More importantly, it isn't used on the person you talked to, the "effect" is on Sireyis voice.

“Please” you beg the secretary “This is urgent and concerns the wellbeing of the Kingdom.”

You manage to crack even this hardened bureaucrat with your plea.

“Fine!” he grumbles “Wait here!”

He returns a half-hour later and escorts you in to see King Corinthus. The King is sat at his desk, reading through papers.

“Saint Sireyi” says the Secretary, introducing you “And the Guildmasters are due in 10 minutes.” He gives you a significant look.

“Have a seat” says the King, not looking up from his report. Other than the two of you, no one else is present “I’m sorry I can’t give you my full attention” he says “I have to understand these trade reports for my next meeting, what do you need?”

“Sire” you say, sitting “I have journeyed into Hell, saved my angelic mother and slain a Duke of Hell.”

“Congratulations” says the King, still reading.

“But whilst there” you continue “I have seen terrible hardship and suffering” you outline the fate of the succubi, continuing “with no one to oppose me in Hell, I plan to offer the succubi the choice between moving to Drache, the Tribal Lands, or the Barony of Dalvin.”

Now the King looks up from his reading “How many will be going to Dalvin?” he asks mildly.

“I had thought no more than 15% of the population of Dalvin” you say “To start with, after that, I might review it every year to see-”

“Dalvins population is what, 50,000?” asks the King, his face unreadable

“Closer to a hundred thousand” you say.

“Out of the question” he says without hesitation “I could accept a handful of demons taking up residence in Dalvin, perhaps as many as a few dozen, fifteen thousand? no, absolutely not, I forbid it.”

“Why not?” you ask, you know the answer, but you’d prefer it to be out in the open.

“Because demons are the enemy” says the King “demons are being of pure evil that exist to bring about suffering and harm to mortals. Time and time again demon worshippers, summoners and cultists have proven this, that’s why we have the churches” he says “to provide a defence against these threats, and to teach people not to fall for their temptations.”

“And in Hell” you say “It is the succubi that suffer at the hands of other demons, I’m trying to save them from that.”

“A laudable goal” says the King “I’m sure Drache will find a place for them.”

“They needn’t settle within Dornmer” you suggest “I was thinking of perhaps settling them on my border, just inside the Tribal Lands – they can defend themselves against orcs and beastmen and help defend the Kingdom” pointing out your sisters endeavours at this point might not be a good idea.

The King gives you a flat look “That’s not going to work” he says “You’ll have them spreading corruption into your Barony before the end of the day, and then it will spread throughout the Kingdom, beside, who would rule them?”

“Well they have a Queen of sorts” you say “I’ve not met her yet, and if I’m the one who rescues them they will perhaps hold some sort of regard for me, I can use my influence to help steer them away from-”

“So you’ll end up a member of the ruling body of a demon kingdom?” says the King in disbelief, “and you expect to remain a Baroness?”

“I told you Sire” you say respectfully “When I took this post, that my duties to Velya and her virtues would come first.”
>>

If we're resigning, we'll need to make a round of Dalvin and inform the non-humans that change of management would be around, and potentially one less favourably disposed to them. This especially concerns the Giants and the Werespiders, since the feyfolk will probably just shrug it off.

I'm gonna vote yes on Soul of Light. Seems the king could use a bit of reminder that, ya know, we're kind of a God. We don't want him as an enemy because that will create so much suffering, but he clearly has forgotten who and what we are.

Of course, in a perfect world, I'd vote to rip his palace apart in one massive explosion without hurting a soul in it, suspend the pieces mid-air, explain our case a bit better, and then put it back together as if it never was harmed to begin with. That's me however, not our character.

>>36352095

We need to build Superman-level credibility. But after all that we've done, I think that the rulers here are still in the mindset that everything can be solved with politicking and how dare that upstart baroness do something like oh god undead and machines everywhere help save me angel people.

However, I'm not so sure that settling the Succubutts in Dornmer's plane is the right idea. It'll cause a LOT of unrest and fear in the rest of the nation. Perhaps it might be better to have volunteeers or handpicked succubi reside on this plane to test out the waters while Drache takes on the lion's share of Succubutts.
>>
>>36352137
Its not about open borders at all. Thats something completly different.
We INVITED those succubi. Thats pretty different from open borders were people can just come as they wish, which is a terrible idea and only creates problems.
Thats why I was for the option of having them build a indepnedent realm at our borders.
And yes, he has absolutely no right to refuse them to settle in land he doesn't own, just because he hates them.
>>
>>36352155

You are telling the king you're taking immigrants from literal hell into his realm and telling him to suck it up and that you'll openly revolt if he doesn't bend over.
>>
“Under my guidance Dalvin has gone from a barren empty place to one that thrives and that people all across the northern part of Dornmer want to move to.” You plead your case with the King “I have united ogres, giants, fae and werefolk to secure the border, I’ve defeated armies of beastmen and dragons before they could invade. Your Majesty I beg you to reconsider! The Succubi could be valuable allies-”

He stands up, looming over you “I am your King, and if you wish to remain as one of my Barons you will do your duty and keep your barony free of demons!”

Something inside you snaps, King or no King, he is a mortal speaking to an angel, and a Goddess. You draw upon your angelic powers and stand, spreading 6 wings of celestial iron out around you as you do so. Your flesh takes on the appearance sculpted marble with veins of silver running through it; your eyes transform to golden orbs with silvery pupils and an intricate spiral pattern instead of an iris and your voice resonates with the authority and power of heaven as you say “Consider carefully to whom you speak King of Dornmer, for I am the Goddess Sireyi and-” He falls back into his chair, a look of awe, and fear upon his face.

The doors to the kinds study slam open and elite guards and court wizards pour in. Soon there are dozens of guards and six wizards in the room with you, pointing weapons and magic staves at you.

“Stand down!” bellows the guard captain “make any sudden moves and you will regret it, surrender now, and you will be charged with threatening the King, resist arrest, and you will die!”

>>
>>36352232

I have threatened nobody. This king has some power, and a greatness of his own to be sure. However, it seems to me that he needed a small reminder of whom he accused of bringing evil into his land. I am a literal goddess of light, and he is still only a man. I wish harm to no one, but if there's one thing my reign as a Baron should have shown, it is that prejudice and blind hate has stymied growth and prosperity for all his subjects. I will leave this place, and you shall not stop me,

Something to that effect, anyways.

You remain where you are, keeping your hands in full view and not making any sudden gestures, saying "I have threatened no one; I just wish for the King to know whom he accuses of bringing evil into his Kingdom."

“Cuff it” says the guard captain. Wait, you’re an *it* now?

Two guards approach you with iron manacles carved with runes of antimagic. The wizards around you start casting spells, the rest of the guards raise their swords. Two of the guards grab the king and put him behind them.

“Urge you to reconsider your majesty” you say, as the guards approach “I wish for nothing but prosperity and peace, don't let a narrow mind throw this kingdom into chaos”.

He's been stunned into not speaking (or doing much of anything) by fear and awe, from what I can tell, so it's possible that surrendering would result in him later visiting our cell and having an actual dialogue.

And we can probably overpower anti-magic with Deific Spell.

But was it worth the very real risk of losing one of our strongest mortal supporters and possibly embroiling the entire kingdom in bloody civil war when the Lords of Life are coming for us?

I'm not pointing fingers or anything. Sireyi's becoming a goddess and with those duties comes a point where she has to choose to act as a mortal or act as a living deity on the mortal plane. But I'm still wondering if this was a wise course of action.

Eleven times faster? A human can throw a 60mph punch, I believe, (probably faster), so in theory, we could punch so fast we broke the sound barrier before placing our fist completely through whomever we chose.

Hells, at that speed, we could fly about smacking all the wizards so they couldn't speak their spells, and snap all the weapons on any guard while CONTINUING to speak to the king.

I mean, that's just silly-fast.

I'm just going to point out that no matter whether we end up talking or fleeing, we should do all we can to prevent an open violent rebellion, including not starting one.

If Sireyi's duties as a living saint are irreconciliable with her position as a baron, that's fine. But I think it would be strongly OOC for her to try and usurp mortal power, especially if she knew the results would be bloody.

>>
>>36353127
yo pally, based on what sireyi knows what is the normal punishment for threatening the king, and how likely is the charge to stick?
>>
You calmly let them put the cuffs on you, as soon as the manacles snap closed around your wrists your angelic form fades away, leaving only your more human, normal appearance. As they drag you away you say to the king “I am going to wait in my cell for you to reconsider. I hope I will see you there before sunrise. Otherwise, I will reconsider my position. I must do what is right.” You can’t see the King behind the screen of guards, then the wizards spells hit you and your vision goes dim, you start to pass out, your vision greying out.

No, you are a Goddess, your will is stronger than mortal magics, despite the wizards spells, you stay on your feet.

[-1 Deific Power]

“Hit her again” yells one of the wizards, as the guards start to drag you away, you see the wizards start to cast their spells again. It seems as long as you’re in their custody, they will try and keep you unconscious, or under control somehow using magic.

>Remain a captive, keep resisting the magic they use
>Escape
>Other

>>36353230
It would stick, you transformed to a more combat capable form, in front of the King. Even though you never intended to attack, it still counts.
>>
>>36353142

I was rather hoping for a JLU moment. Like when the JL (sans Batman) submit themselves to the authorities, and Superman reaches out his arms so that he can be cuffed by a prison guard. But the warden just waves him off and says "No need for that. They wouldn't have held him anyway."
>>
>>36353279
>Remain a captive, keep resisting the magic they use
>>
>>36353220

Might be. But how badass would it be if they cuff us and with our crit success they EXPLODE.

We then march to the prison, bend the bars apart, step into a cell, and bend the bars back, telling the guards the king has 24 hours to come speak with us.

Also, explosions behind us while divine sunglasses and a trenchcoat drop from the sky and make us look even more badass, because we're fucking BAMF.

I actually hope none of this happens, it just sounded cool in my head.

They aren't mooks, they are the kings personal guard wizards. They are definitly not mooks. Sireyi isn't omnipotent, her DP gives her the ability to do some specific godly things and thats it, as long as we don't expend DP, we aren't actually that different from regular people.

>>
“Don’t waste your time” you say to the wizards, as you let the guards lead you from the room. As they do, the wizards keep trying, and even your mighty will succumbs to their spells, you pass out and know no more.

---

You are Sireyi, but not Valyenya.

Yesterday you enjoyed a thoroughly pleasurable day with your mother and your family. Yes, your family, not *your sisters family*. You accepted her as your sister, and that means accepting her family is yours as well.

Still, it is a bit worrying, your sister left to talk to the King, and didn’t return last night, the discussion must have taken a while. If she’s not careful she’ll be late.

You and your family sit at breakfast, chatting, there’s an undercurrent of worry, but it seems people are more worried that Sireyi will be late, rather than anything having happened to her.

A messenger comes running in and whispers in Sofias ear, no not yours, the other one, the Baronet. Her face goes white and she jumps to her feet “The kings airship is coming” she says, a look of horror and confusion on her face “Sireyi has been arrested for treason and we are all wanted for questioning.”

---

And thread ends there. Next thread will be Saturday evening, 7pm BST. I’ll post on twitter closer to the time.

I realise some people will be unhappy with this result. I will say this: although you are a god, mortal magic can still effect you, as you are a very minor god currently, you are not invulnerable.

Meta
Sireyi is unconscious and cannot act, eventually she will naturally spend Deific Power to end this effect, it could take weeks for this to happen, hence the PoV shift.

Yeah no Pally. I have been following this quest since thread one, and I was and am always of the opinion that steering is acceptabloe. This is not steering.
People have explicitly and wihtout doubt made clear they want to leave if they keep trying. We should have gotten a vote to allow for spending DP for successes as much as we want.
This is not okay. This isn't, "people are mad because they lost", because we had that with the Sunken Kingdom too, that was okay. This is not.

This is bullshit, Pally, and you apparently know it is.
Seriously Pally. No. I dont care what awesome twist you are planning here, but this is blatant railroading. You can't take control of the character away despite people having made votes taking this into account.
We should have gotten the option to keep spending, or a another vote on how often. You even ASKED how often we resist, and people answered THREE times.
>>
I did ask how long you'd stay, though it was not a formal vote, of 5 replies, 2 said until the 3rd attempt, 2 said until sunrise and one said *I'd like to stick around*

Still, given it's clear people do want a vote on this, I'll put it to a simple vote.

The situation is that the wizards will keep using magic until they knock you out.

Do you:

Wouldn't matter, they cast it dozens of times, eventually we'd have failed to roll a nat20 and wouldn't be able to get an automatic success, which we apparently need to remain conscious.

>>36353947
If you knew anything about how divinity worked in this setting, maybe you'd have realized that sooner.

>>36353958
>near out of DP
Do you have *any* idea how slowly that regenerates?
>>
>>36353772

Why am I personally unhappy with the result?

It could take weeks to wake up, before which we're beheaded.
So basically, guillotine (rocks) fall(s), everyone dies.

I feel our power was overstated a bit, and that at the very moment we used SoL, we all were crowded onto the railroad express. Especially since we weren't given other chances to resist or use DP, which we clearly would have, and we would have gotten away after spending about 5 DP or so.

I only hope it's for the greater good of the story. Sometimes, as a player, you have to let the QM do things you dislike to make the story better.

Oh well.

>Wouldn't matter, they cast it dozens of times, eventually we'd have failed to roll a nat20 and wouldn't be able to get an automatic success, which we apparently need to remain conscious.
And there is no real reason why we wouldn't have gotten the option to spend DP to leave after a certain point. Because clearly Sireyi would have. We get to spend DP all the time after having rolled, so yes, even with a crit failure, we could have evened that out and left.
>>
I acknowledge my mistake of not making it a proper vote and I apologise for not doing so.

I will try to be clearer on votes, options and results in future.

As always, when I screw up, I do not want the players to be disadvantaged.

I plan to start OP of next thread with Sireyi escaping. Final quest post of this thread will be retconned, my bad, sorry.
>>
>>36354101

Don't worry OP, main thing is it's been cleared up. Thanks for the thread and good night to you.
>>
>>36354101
Well good on you for recognizing the mistake and fixing it.

Thanks for running and thanks for being a cool QM
>>
>>36354101
Alrighty then. I look forward to next thread. Thanks for running as always Pally.
>>
>>36354101
Shit happens, anons get easily anxious.
My post might have been abit too harsh to get my point across, which was true, but still.
Thanks for running and good night to you, see you next time.
>>
>>36354094
She did, she just failed to get a natural 20.

You need two twenties for an auto-success, expending DP gives a single nat20, we evidently need an auto-success to pass the DC.

>>36354098
An automatic success is two twenties, you can't override a critfail with 1 DP.
>>
>>36354165
>She did, she just failed to get a natural 20.
No she didn't, we rolled once then it got taken out of our hands completely.
>>
>>36354153
>anons get easily anxious.
that is a major understatement in my case.
I'm such a mess right now, I feel like my chest is about to burst.
>>
>>36354165
>An automatic success is two twenties, you can't override a critfail with 1 DP.
But with 5. Which is my point. We only got "overwhelmed" because control of the character was taken away. Despite the voter intention clearly being to resist to make them stop, not to keep resisting until we eventually fail after hours.
>>
>>36354176
Because otherwise we'd be rolling thirty sets of 3d20 until one of them failed to get at least one natural 20.

Do you have any idea what the odds are on that?
>>
>>36354052

I was trying to word things gently.
Yes I mad.
But it is what it is.

>>36354049

Given multiple chances to leave? Yes. How about the danger of ULTRAPOWERFUL GOD BREAKING MAGIC being clearly used, when Sireyi would know it, and not telling us?

My only point is, the danger seemed minimal. I would call it akin to a GM saying, "You see a hill of angry, bitey ants. They're crowded around a stack of gold ingots. Surprise, you're allergic to ant bites, you failed to roll a 20 on one of a trillion bites, you die. GG."

It seemed like better communication from the QM would surely have been nice.
>>
>>36354189
Calm down anon, shit got sorted out. Its hardly the first time, Pally and us always sort it out and move on in the end.

>>36354203
No, otherwise we would have gotten to use them to leave after too many attempts.
>>
>>36354203
It doesn't matter what the odds are anon, what matters is whether we actually control the character, make decisions when it is appropriate to make decisions, roll dice or flee, and not get the controller taken out of our hands.

>>36354101
Sorry for getting a bit hostile there OP, thanks for clearing it up and thanks for the thread
>>
>>36354221
working on it. still worried though.
>>
>>36354214
>ULTRAPOWERFUL GOD BREAKING MAGIC
It wasn't though. Sireyi is a Saint not a God, without expending DP she is just as vulnerable to magic as, well every super-poweerful half-angel with a +26 willsave, but still.

The only issue is, that we had assumed we would succeed at resisting through our crit success.
The moment Sireyi would have noticed it still assaults her mind and she still needs to move away, would be the moment she and therefore us, would reconsider and leave.
The issue was IC knowledge not being available for our decision making.
>>
>>36354203
never tell me the odds!
>>
>>36354214
>ULTRAPOWERFUL GOD BREAKING MAGIC
Nothing of the sort, you need to educate yourself on how divinity actually works in this setting.

>My only point is, the danger seemed minimal.
Yeah, that's why OP kept giving us chances to leave without changing anything and made it clear we barely resisted even with an automatic success, of course.

>>36354221
People voted to stay after we barely resisted, that was the biggest mistake.

>>36354197
>But with 5.
That was a one-off, we can't get a auto-success out of nowhere, OP said as much last thread. If we get 19, 19, 19, that's it, it's over.

>Despite the voter intention clearly being to resist to make them stop, not to keep resisting until we eventually fail after hours.
Except for all the people that didn't vote for that.

>>36354243
You threw the controller away, anon. There's a difference.
>>
Thank you for the feedback.

I would like to reassure anons that when I get things wrong it is not out of a desire to railroad or move the plot in a direction I want to take it, but rather because I've not clearly communicated my intentions, and then misinterpreted what you've said you want to do.

I'm always willing to discuss things, and I'm not afraid to admit when I get things wrong, like today.
>>
So... Seeing as how Sireyi going full divine only made the king angrier, how on earth are we going to resolve this peacefully?
>>
>>36354304
>Sireyi going full divine only made the king angrier
It made him scared, and that was our angelic form, we don't have a divine form.
>>
>>36354304
It didn't make him angrier, he shit his pants and couldn't talk anymore.

>>36354300
>You threw the controller away, anon. There's a difference.
No thats simply not correct. If they would have brought out a powerful artifact of Konig to knock us out, I would have accepted that, because thats something Sireyi could not react to, if she didn't see it coming.
But the continued attempts on her mind, are things Sireyi can keep reacting to.
If avote would result in the voters losing control of the character, with the character still being able to act, then we need to be told about this.
We weren't.
Like, for example, the spear thing during the battle. No one complained about character control, because Sireyi couldn't have reacted anymore to it than she had, and then Sireyi lost control and so did we, thats perfectly legit.
But as long as the character can react to a situation, the players can too.

That was, btw, the original premise behind PoV shifts for Pally, if you remember.
>>
>>36354303
pally I want you to know that short of killing of characters for stupid reasons I will always be willing to get a sex change and have all your babies.
>>
>>36354300
>You threw the controller away, anon. There's a difference.
No we didn't, we pressed a single button and it was yanked away.
>>
>>36354384
Genitalia from sex changes aren't fertile.

>>36354378
Yeah yeah, I'm just mad because it feels like the players made (another) foolish decision while I was gone but this time they took it out on OP.

>>36354410
Read what the button is before pressing it next time.
>>
>>36354274

Perhaps I am not wording my thoughts correctly, but I believe we're on the same page. I am glad Pally decided to retcon his thread ender.

I vote, next time, we wait for king to refuse our ultimatum, then abdicate our title. We don't need his permission, not really. If he refuses to allow good to be done, he is no king of ours anyways.

We have others in place that can take our mantle and do well. We told the king we would serve him second, and our God first.

Clearly, his direct contradictory order of what we know is right is only proof that our God has no need of him, or of our title.

Maybe we SHOULD establish a kingdom all ourselves.
>>
>>36354428
Life, uhh, finds a way.
Yes I know that.
>>
>>36354450
We aren't going back that far, anon.

What's happening now is that, instead of remaining and trying to resist after they attempt to knock us unconscious, we're teleporting back to our stronghold.
>>
>>36354428
>Genitalia from sex changes aren't fertile.
Clearly you need to pray harder to Velya then.

And people were mad yes, and while it could have been expressed more kindly, this is /tg/.
The complaint, in essence, was in my eyes legitimate. We have made foolish decisions before and not taken it out on Pally, so I would say we have a fairly decent ground to stand on in this.

>>36354450
>Maybe we SHOULD establish a kingdom all ourselves.
Yes, with Dalvin as its first province.
>>
>>36354428
>Read what the button is before pressing it next time.
the button was resist, so why would it be wired up to the 'give up' receptors?
>>
>>36354450
>>36354486
I don't think that now is the time for civil war shenanigans
>>
>>36354495
Because it was clearly written out in the instruction manual that pressing that button will cause your controller to explode.

>>36354486
>this is /tg/
I hate that excuse for acting like an ass so much. You should always strive to be better than those around you, rather than saying "they're assholes so it's okay if I'm an asshole!".

>We have made foolish decisions before and not taken it out on Pally, so I would say we have a fairly decent ground to stand on in this.
The former does not imply the latter. I can't recall the exact name for this form of logical fallacy, but I know it is one.
>>
>>36354484

I know, but we HAD delivered our message. He'll have a way to respond. He's the King. When he inevitably tells us to go fuck ourselves, we peace out.

We don't need the title, is all I'm saying.
>>
>>36354519
Its only a civil war if he makes it one.
And the issue is this. Normally I would agree with you.
But this is a border realm. The king had originally completly abandoned this place until we came along. If he sends in a new baron, its going to be a hardliner.
You have seen what the average noble in this kingdom is like, I do not wish to expose the people, and especially the non-humans to the kind of things they might have to suffer under someone like that.
If we could just hand it over and be sure the people will continue to live their lives happy, I would just hand it over.
But he is going to make a example, and all the guys who were jealous of our domain are going to ruin it. That I can't accept.
>>
>>36354551
>I hate that excuse for acting like an ass so much.
Its not a excuse, I mean to say, "Thats the kind of thing you can expect here".
I already apologized for maybe having been a bit harsher than necessary in my haste.

Yes, you are right, it doesn't mean all of our complaints are valid. My point was, there is no reason to assume this happened here, and indication is a previous lack of tendency for such behaviour.
Its not a proof, of course. But I maintain, the complaint I formulated was correct.
>>
>>36354564
This would totally change my mind if this is the case.
>>
Once again I simply cannot relate to the Anons in this thread.

>The King acted totally rationally, from his point of view. He isn't stupid and we shouldn't steal his barony.
>Showing off was stupid.
>Yes, it is ridiculous that the court wizards of this one King are totally OP and present more of a threat to us than all the high-ranking Demons, followers of the Lord of Life, Dragon-Lich, etc etc. But the Author gave us hints that this was the case the first time Sireyi resisted.

The only fault I might concede on part of the QM was, that the sheer prowess of these sleep-spells might have been telegraphed more.
>>
>Set up shop with our sister.
>Finally get Sanctuary 5
>We are the only nation not affected by Mr. Frost.
>Everyone immigrates to us.
>King's face when.
>>
>>36354767
>The King acted totally rationally
No he didn't. He started out with a ultimatum at us.
He was rational up until he refused to allow us to settle them at the border.
He is well within his rights to demand from us to not settle demons in his kingdom, he can not demand from us to not settle demons outside of it.
He already knew we were going to choose our duty over his authority, we explcitily told him we would when we got the title and he accepted that.
>>
>>36354767

Anons feel too strongly about Succubutts or don't care much about the King ordering them around. Also kinda worried that going full Angel violated Velya doctrine to not inspire fear in others.
>>
>>36354767
>Showing off was stupid.
Of your complaints thats the only one I can kind of agree with.
In hindsight yes, we underestimated how it would look like to others, since we figured angel=good and therefore assumed it would just drive home that we are a force of good.
Might have made too many assumptions there.
>>
>>36354859
I meant showing off as in, letting the wizards hit us with their spells. If dozens of elite mages point spells at you, you should cast antimagic, not just let them hit you.
>>
>>36354823
Yep, and he said that's ok. We just cannot be his Baroness at that point.
>>
>>36354892
could we do that in our cell? cast anti magic on ourselfs? because if so I would really like that.
>>
>>36354924
We aren't in a cell, but casting anti-magic would have been another of these things we could have done.
It would have just caused a brawl though.
>>
>>36354856
>Anons feel too strongly about Succubutts
To be fair, so would the character.

>don't care much about the King ordering them around
More about not compromising our principles, namely that demons aren't evil and they shouldn't be discriminated against like that. I still intend to try and avoid a war or having to secede.

>Also kinda worried that going full Angel violated Velya doctrine to not inspire fear in others.
Really oughta work on catching up on this quest before next Saturday.

>>36354859
You can't say that it wasn't telegraphed that continuing to resist instead of leaving or fighting might be a bad idea several times. I don't agree with how it went down, but it was still pretty stupid to make that last choice to keep resisting.

>>36354924
There is no cell.
>>
>>36354939
i mean, cast once we are in the cell. unless we would have failed before we got there
>>
>>36354909
Which is bullshit, because that was pretty much telling us to abandon our people.
>>
>>36354924
Please read at least the thread you are in.
>>
>>36354856
What? Are you seriously thinking we would threaten the King or something? Of course we cared about what the King said, we were simply talking. Nothing more, nothing less.
>>
>>36354942
>You can't say that it wasn't telegraphed that continuing to resist instead of leaving or fighting might be a bad idea several times.
Kinda. It was made clear it would be difficult, but the fact that we got to resist with DP and crits suggested its definitly possible.
I'm not saying Pally decieved us, the issue was more that what people read from the option, and what Pally intended clearly diverged, and that was visible in the posts.
If our assumption was mistaken, which was we get to play out the way into the cell and what we do there, he should have corrected us.
>>
>>36354942
there is no cell?
>>
>>36354942
>namely that demons aren't evil and they shouldn't be discriminated against like that
More that demons don't /have/ to be evil and can be reformed, especially an abused sub-class.
>>
>>36355009
Read the thread. Or at least the last few posts.
