Welcome to the XXXVI installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."

Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole.

It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords, the cutthroat merchants of the East India Trading Company and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous monarchs like Maleficent, the Horned King, Grimhilde and Jafar, mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog.

It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.

This is a fantastic goddamn idea, and I recommend everyone look at it.

We said we'd restrict the +bonus to 3 and under at character creation, though.
>>
Items! Glorious items, it was what we were discussing.

That image in the OP made me remember Facilier's sweet mask that he materialized in that song.

Would Masks give +1 to deceit or persuasion depending on the design?
>>
>>36295013
His mask is enchanted, though. Why would a mask make you more persuasive?

I'd love to hop in the playtest as long as it doesn't disrupt anything. Is that a possibility? Character is a monkey Charming Guy that was already submitted to the forum.
>>
>>36295034
Deceit, I could see. Hides facial twitches that give away your lies.
>>
>>36295064
We're... kind of nearing the end of the line.
>>
>>36295034

Is it? To me it kinda sounded like he materialized it to put on a scarier show. Because, y'know, musical number.

And a mask with the right design could be awe-inspiring, or just make people less nervos. I know that sounds a little counter intuitive, but a guy with a good expression and voice control, with an innocent-looking mask could probably pass as a trustworthy guy.

Also, remember: Mirror Kingdom. Most characters coming from there would come with facial scars, and so far they've given penalties to Persuasion. Maybe masks would be a way to mitigate that bonus, at the cost of taking up an item slot?
>>

Okay then

>these last umpteenth threads dissolve into bickering children whinging about
>all according to the keikaku magic
>keikaku magic means plan magic
>>
Any idea when the next one is?
>>
I said I wasn't getting a name 20+ threads ago, but fuck it. I've made enough of an impact.

What I've done:
>Initially brought up Pirate Lord Hook
>Fluff and songs here and there
>Japan Fluff doc
>Character Creation doc
>Asked what if we split up physical and social Strikes and I'm really fucking sorry
>Brought us back on track with Item creation and two traits
>>
>>36295079
I could see a mask giving +1 deciet. Persuasion makes no sense, though.

>>36295092
Mitigating the penalties from being hideous could work, though. Negates the -4 from Scarring but gives a -1 to persuasion due to man in a mask being kind of untrustworthy?
>>
>>36294778
Good traits, I'll 'bin these when we update the traits pastebin.
Remember: +2 for Diamond In The Rough, and requires at least a +1 item for Not The Face!
>>
>>36295013
More like intimidation...
>>
>>36295117
You're really only supposed to namefag for the point of easy navigation of your work, mate. Nob, Knightfag, Dread and Sverd are the only namefags with a valid reason for their namefaggotry, because they have continous and ongoing work that's easier to figure out with names.
>>
>>36295127

So basically, a +3 to persuasion?

What if...

>White Mask: Takes away half the penalty a character might have if hideous or facialy scarred

I don't know about you guys, but I would have a lot of fun making different masks with different bonuses and effects. For some reason, that strikes me as amazingly fun.

That sounds more like a GM fiat thing though. If you guys are up for throwing up some fun mask ideas I'd appreciate it, but it's clearly not the essential
>>
>>36295201
I'm sure as hell not going to stop you from adding more things to the game. Go ahead, worst that can happen is we'll find some of it unbalanced or nonsensical and take a few out or rebalance them.
>>
>>36295199
Then I guess he needs to step up his game and start producing stuff to live up to it. He's put in a contract with the Friends, now...
>>
>>36295201
Many cultures have shamans and magicmen don masks to aid their magic powers.....a mask with a bonus to certain Occult applications?
>>
>>36295201
>>36295237

>Demonic Mask: -4 to Persuasion, +3 to Intimidate.

>Totem Mask: +2 to Occult is trying to contact spirits. -3 for Persuasion

>Regal Half-mask (Covers only your eyes and upper face): +2 Persuasion against nobility.

For that one I was thinking about things like those masked balls and stuff. Doesn't make much sense, but eh.

>Beast Mask: -5 to Persuasion against non-beast characters. +5 to persuasion against beasts
>>
>>36295288
All of those are gr8 except for the Regal half-mask, which doesn't really make much sense. You'd just look like a tool. Still, it's DISNEY, so it could work.

Requesting song topics to stop me from writing another song about Sverd.
I know there's probably a thousand unfuffilled requests but I need a constant reminder of what people want songs about because I am forgetful.
>>
>>36295288
Drop the bonus and penalty on the Beast Mask to 3, and it should work. Try to avoid huge bonuses unless it's a plot item or literally magical, which is rare and hard to come by.
>>
>Trial and Error: You receive a mild bonus (+3/4?) to any skill test you've significantly failed this session.

>>36295201
>We Wear the Mask!: When your face is covered, you can be anybody. As long as you wear a mask, you can apply a +1 bonus that stacks on top of whatever bonus that mask gives normally.

You must take Judas Priest's "A Touch of Evil' and rewrite it so that it's about Sverd and Elsa's wonderful and terrible bedroom adventures..

Oh come on, that doesn't even fit with either of their characters.
>>
>>36295435
'A Touch of Frost' or some shit like that.

And no, we'll never let you live this down.
>>
>>36295365

Fair enough. New ones incoming!

>Thief mouthpiece (Think that whole "tissue over mouth" thing from the arabic places):
-3 to all Social Rolls against merchants. +3 to Intimidate against merchants. (Possibly also a diplomacy bonus against other thieves)

>Blank Mask: +2 against Insight. with the right level of Craft, can be transformed into any other mask.

>Innocent Mask: +2 for deceit if the target is not hostile.
>>
>>36295459

>Blank Mask

>No One was, in fact, just bullshitting everyone with a really good mask and god-tier drawing skil
>>
>>36295452
That could mildly fit with their characters if we go under the assumption that Elsa instantly stops being elegant and regal when alone and that Sverd turns into a whimpering pile of shit during the same time. I'm still not going to write it, though.

>>36295459

I took a quick look at the rules for Beast characters, and I have a suggestion.

Trait:
Beast of Burden: +1 to Robustness, and +2 to Robustness for the purposes of carrying loads.
>>
>>36295508
I think your interpretation of the song is quite different from mine then, where the touch of evil is merely dominant and kinky.

>>36295523

>>
>>36295556
I believe we already have two reenditions of "I'll make a man out of you", neither written by me, and I've written two separate songs about training or inspiring an army. Also two OTHER songs about the PC's army rousing themselves at a final showdown kinda thing.

>>36295201
I like it. Ideas incoming:
Surgical Mask: +3 to Science rolls for the purposes of healing physical Strikes
Bandanna Mask: +3 Stealth in the Wild West
Lifelike Mask: Requires a high Craft skill (rolled with Agility) and expensive materials to make, but lets you look like anyone you've had the chance to study. Works for one person, can only be worn by one person (has to be molded to an individual face)
Captain's Hat: +3 to Intimidate non-captain pirates, but Captains will see you as a rival and the EITC will kill you on sight
Admiral's Hat: +3 to Bluff non-captain members of the EITC, but Captains and above will call your bluff and have everyone attack you and all pirates will kill you on sight
>>

FIRST OFFICIAL 40 OF THE GAME
WOO WOO
>>
Sverd nervously approached the gates to the throne room. This was his moment. He could restore peace to the land. He had trained for months, and prepared the perfect thing to say to his Queen. Elsa had been... broken ever since the death of Anna at the beginning of the Great Frost. As he reached for the doors, Sverd felt something deep inside him, something that he barely ever permitted himself to feel: pride. He was going to be the restorer of Arrendelle and bring honor to his clan once more. He flung open the doors, prepared to see a tattered ruin of ice and snow. Instead, he was met with a beautiful throne room, with small snowmen flitting about, polishing silver and cleaning the furniture. Also, it was warm. Surprisingly so. He found the source of the heat, four large fireplaces, all lit, and though it strange. By all accounts, Elsa was unaffected by the cold. He looked around and found her, wearing a beautiful purple dress, off in a side room, talking to an ice sculpture of the legendary Princess Anna sitting on a snow pedestal.
“Visitors coming, visitors coming,” she muttered to her icy sister. “Now I be alone. I get lonely now. But I’m not really alone. I have you. You’re just… quiet, that’s all. And cold. But I’m cold too. We’re all cold here. The last time I had someone warm to talk to was back before…” She faltered, a shadow passing over her face. “Before the way things are now. There were a few, though, but not anymore. Now they’re cold too. They thought I was being bad, but I was just being me. Being me is hard. It’s lonely. But I still have you! I’ll always have you, even if you are quiet now. I tried to make you loud again, but it was wrong. I made another girl who just wants to be you. She’s cold also. But now we have a visitor! He will be nice, and noble, and pure, and won’t think I’m mean at all! It will be great! We’ll have so much fun!” Elsa turned around, seeing the armor-clad knight. “There he is!”

some notes: we need to divide up exactly what the difference is between Athletics and Acrobatics. We need to decide if Legerdemain and Mechanics can both be used to pick locks. We need to decide how throwing explosives works.

That's about it. Pretty entertaining session, though. Not sure when the next one will be -- probably Saturday, but no guarantees.

Athletics - Burst down a door, push your way through a crowd, win a foot race, throw a javelin, win an arm wrestling competition, etc.
Acrobatics - Chase someone across rooftops, balance at the edge of a cliff, dance, weave your way through a crowd, dodge an axe above your head, pole vault, etc.
>>
>>36296798
they aren't really continuous since this is random scenario playtesting, but here;
Everyone gets ~$2000 in atlantean money (so 1920 dollars). Bart gets 6 Lessons, Vergil gets 4, Jermiah gets 6, Raymond gets 6, Anitelu gets 5. 3 for escaping 3 dangerous situations, any others for completing your Ideals.
>>
For next playtest, we should make sure to test character development, as that is an area that we haven't really tested at all. Also, let's try to make more novel items that do more than boost a stat.
>>
>>36296900

Toccata and Fugue in D Minor: No story.

The Nutcracker Suite: No story, but stuff like it might happen in the Fey lands or in the Aurora's territory.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice: Mickey might be dead, Yen Sid has stuck around but he's lost a lot of his power.

The Rite of Spring: The dinosaurs stuck around. They've got their own island now, even!

Pastoral Symphony: Doesn't really have a villain besides Zeus being a jerk. Hercules might have overwritten it.

Dance of the Hours: It's just a musical performance. There might be a traveling music troupe of hippos, elephants, ostriches, and crocodiles, though.

A Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria: Should be pretty obvious.

I'd like to remind everyone that I have once again tricked a group of playtesters into spending three hours beating up a wizard and his minions.

But at the same time, you're also demonstrating legit ways to incorporate magic in the setting.

Sverd, would you mind if I wrote a couple songs for Sverd? I'm thinking of converting a couple songs from Next To Normal, because they just fit the story of Elsa talking to frozen Anna so well.

Plane Crazy, could you please read the transcript and write about one or more of the following?
>Disney Team Prime sailing the high seas aboard The Ahohako with Captain Anitelu Ahomana, Pirate-Prince of Polynesia and his first mate Brawlin' Bart.
>Captain Anitelu's continued wooing of the fair Avis, regaling her with tales of his homeland ("No, I was only the prince of the very small island of Manahuto. That's all Polynesia is, a group of very small islands, all too small to be shown on a map of the world, and all very far apart.") and his piratical exploits and lifestyle ("Contrary to popular belief, the Pirate Code isn't actually a collection of rules or laws.....they're just guidelines, to tell you the truth.").
>Captain Anitelu and Bart steal an Atlantean submarine.
>>
>>36297196

If you could please post those rules. I might try and spend tomorrow creating some example characters and reworking some of our old examples that have been outpaced by the ne crunch. It might be nice to have a small stable of premades to offer as examples to be dropped in, ready made.

Maybe because it's one of the most DISNEY AS FUCK pieces of fluff we have.
Think about it:
>Honestly good, handsome knight meets damsel in distress
>consoles and inspires her as she moves back into an elegant, graceful queen
>eventually understands that he needs her much more than she needs him
>go on to save the world

There's so many elements of DISNEY in that.
>>
>>36296704
Session highlights:
>Street rat turning a pistol in a hand grenade, disarming bombs like a pro and making a perfect roll to drive the train
>Talking Guinea Pig doing all the occult legwork, disarming bombs, picking lockpicks and scurryig up a bad guy's pants to bite him in the nuts
>Cowboy shooting bad guys, talking down bad guys and fighting on top of a running train like a real cowboy
>Polynesian pirate captain taking down a man with a strongbox, bagging himself a waifu and pumping the BBEG full of holes
>Angry drunk pirate throwing people around like ragdolls, tanking like a boss and going WWE SMACKDOWN on the bad guys

>>
What if we took the Genie race power (manipulate 1kg of matter) and made it into a Will powered magic wand? It would be nowhere near a starting character, and would probably need Occult to use properly.

Other conditions can be time limits (until midnight) or limits on types of mater (no lead into gold).

Also, I'm not a wizard. Fuck wizards.
>>
>>36297583
Sounds fair. What kind of occult check/rank would you need for it?

Once the weekend arrives I will hopefully contribute a good amount of fluff to these threads. I've burnt myself out a bit in the past couple days, and I know that several of our more polished writers are also incommunicado for a while, which has lead to a slight drop in fluff production.

I suggest that we add modifiers to people's defenses. For instance, a strong huntsman might be hard to intimidate because they wield so much power and have so much bravado, but easier to persuade, because they are dumb

Question: should I just incorporate the Villain Rumor Mill into that? It seems that so many realms are influenced by who's ruling them.
>>
How are other tech gaps addressed besides Atlantis vs Everyone Else? Do the European kingdoms import rifles for their military? Does Agrabah have a secret television network to watch all of Genie's favourite pop culture from America? Do pirates have ironclads?

Also what's up with the way Japan is split up.
>>
>>36297952
A unified rumor mill would be pretty spiffy.
>>
>>36297966
JAPANESE
CLUSTERFUCK
The spirits that are totally-not-from-princess-mononoke have control of the mainland. Everyone has to kind of skirt around the edges -- the forests are large, and the animals hungry.

Tech gaps; I think we're just not bothering to explain it. European kingdoms are almost universally ruled by magicians who don't want rifles in the hands of their populace, and Atlantis has a tight grip on tech production as it stands.

Pirates don't have ironclads, but only because their ships FLY.
>>
>>36297966
Guys with less technology typically have more magic. The Horned King keeps Prydain a place that's backwards even by European standards, but he is a noteworthy sorcerer and possesses vast legions of the undying Cauldronborn.

Low:
Wild West
Virgina
Atlantiean Republic
Sunless Empire
Hunter's Club
EITC
Medium:
Agrabah (Desert)
Sherlock Khanate (Jungle)
Spirit Realm (Magic Bullshit)
Shadowlands (Deals)
Pridelands (Famine)
Land of the Leopard (Jungle)
Neverland (Lawlessness)
Pirate Kingdom (Lawlessness)
Mirror Kingdom (Surveillance)
Land of the Bear (Bear)
High Danger
Arendelle (Cold)
Olympia (Titans)
Fae Lands (Fairy Bullshit)
Archdiocese (Inquisition)
Eldorado (Jungle, Homicidal Xenophobia)
Kingdom of the Cauldron (Black Fog, Skellingtons)
Hunnic Empire (Civil War)

Kingdom of the Red Flower (Jungle, Fires, Hypnosis)
Pleasure Island (Hypnosis, Transmogrification)
You dead:
Bald Mountain (Chimbochumble)

Of course, it all depends. Cities are safer in places like agrabah, less so in the Archdiocese. Capitals are always very dangerous, because you're very close to the king.

Items should be split into three categories:

Zero items are common and provide small bonuses. Perfect starting gear.
On-a-Roll items are rarer and possibly magical in nature. Powerful, but they often have drawbacks and conditions to them.
Hero items are one of a kind. Thier value is immense. Like Excalibur or the Lamp.
>>
>>36302915

Is there the possibility of family heirlooms included amongst a starting character's gear? Like an On-A-Roll item passed down through the character's family or perhaps stolen or "acquired" in some other way? I fully agree with your item system, I'm just curious.
>>
>>36302928
That would be up to the DM (Disney Master) to decide.
Personally, I would say either
>No, or
>That and nothing else.
>>
>>36302975

That's definitely fair. I remember that there had been some talk several threads ago about giving items "prices" based on the bonuses they give, with the price equal to the bonus. I'm not sure if this is still the case, but if it is, I think that would make the idea of a character having an heirloom item of some kind more possible, as the "price" of the heirloom would mean that the rest of their equipment would have to provide lesser bonuses to compensate.
>>
>>36302997

For example, a new character is allowed to start with six points' worth of gear. They could either have three two-point items, or a four-point item and two one-point items, spread between armor, weaponry and accessories.
>>
So what is locked in and what is still up in the air?

What are we going to do about items like horses and boats that provide benefits that are not in the form of pluses to skills? Stick with our convention that if the GM doesn't raise an eyebrow at it, you're in the clear?
>>
>>36303767

I'm not really sure. I don't perfectly recall the conversation. Maybe modes of transportation like horses, boats, Atlantean Autos and the like are best left to the DM's discretion.

Maybe something like each character is allowed one mount and each party is allowed one vehicle?
>>
>>36303767

Well, horses and boats are not the same kind of mechanically game changing equipment that swords and armors are: the GM should just let the players have the necessary means of transport.

>>
>>36303901
>>36303902
>Maybe something like each character is allowed one mount and each party is allowed one vehicle?
An elephant could carry the entire party and a motorcycle could only carry one or two people. For insurance against rules lawyers, better we say that each character can only have one form of personal transportation and each party may only have only form of transportation that can carry all of them and possibly more.

Also, thought I just had: what do we do if a player wants to be an animated object? Like, anything between a teacup and a fullblown ship?
>>
>>36302590
They do, as far as I know.
>>
Did we record the rules for Chimerae? I need them for science. Science and playtesting.
Also, anybody near GMT willing to run a game this weekend? We britfags want to play as well, and we can't go at night, we're too busy manning the fort against paranoid fuckers who think every new person is a wizard.
>>36304045
Come on, I think we should have SOME limits on races. Like, I know pretty much everything can fit into a Disney movie or a fairy tale setting, but RPGs aren't movies or books. Lord of the Rings would be a terrible campaign.
>>
>>36304045

That's a really good question. I could see enchanted objects as characters, but they would have to be limited in their enchantment and their size, perhaps. They would also have a slew of disadvantages as well, but might be really interesting to play. They could have a natural trait to "hide in plain sight" as well.
>>
>>36304045
Animated objects are going to be hard. Not sure how to implement it.

>>36304176
Well, if you give me a GMT that would be good for britbongs I can try to run one Saturday. It's just difficult because no one is running playtests but me.
>>
>>36304367
Mind running a game from 4 until 8 GMT? Preferably text.
>>
>>36304397
I'll see what I can do about 4pm GMT. That's 11:00EST, and running for 3.5hours would put it at 3:00EST. Workable.
>>
>>36304176
>>36304230
>>36304367
Even if we don't leave it open as a PC race, we should still have rules for them in case the players find themselves in a certain castle in France or some shit like that.

Another few item questions I just thought up: some items have benefits in the form of pluses and some drawbacks not in the form of minuses. How do we determine their effective values?

Robustness requirements, for instance; a greatsword you use Robustness for anyways and the bow's requirement of 8 Robustness isn't much to ask for, but the shotgun's Robustness requirement of 10? There are a fairly limited number of builds for which a shotgun is the superior ranged attack option, and perhaps we can reflect that by having its bonus be effectively one lower for the purposes of starting items.

Then there were some items that had drawbacks with no numbers at all, like the pirate captain hat that gave you +3 to intimidate against non-captain pirates but caused other captains to consider you a rival and for the EITC to mark you for death. Sounds like a net zero item to me; should we have all items with non-numerical drawbacks have drawbacks so severe that they feel like net zero items?

Can we think of any non-transport items that have benefits that are not pluses?

You spend them, but record how many total Lessons you've earned, every time you reach a certain interval of total earned Lessons you get a new Power.

We may want to up the requirements for a new power on the medium progression, one every ten seems... fast. That's like every other session, given that in all the playtests so far we've run into ~3 dangerous situations, and ~2.3 is the average lessons per person.

finally back
what happened to the concept of magic? id thought we were starting to make progress with it and discuss how to make it viable and disneyfied , i come back and the first thing i see is
"Lets Calm Down" as if Spergwar 3 has just happened.

did we just continously rage and make polls until whoever wanted no magic was happy, because they had D&D PTSD?

i just think its a wasted opportunity that a world that uses magic almost as much as wizards do, and is often seen or described as "magical" cant have magic in its mechanics.
feels like such a wasted opportunity.

>perhaps try it again once were done with the base?

im suprised we havent sperged over items yet.

we have undead skeletons created by a cauldron, we have merlin who is a literal wizard who would no doubt try to teach any good soul hed find magic at this point
we have frollo who for no reasons other then it happened to rasputin + badassery is now a lich

yes no-one should start with magic, and yes it shouldent be like d&d because it was never like d&d. disney has the excuse for martial heroes to do amazingly op shit.

the point is that we have learnt from d&d's failings and after seeing the amazing work everyone here has made, we are clearly capable of making it balanced and limited.
are we going to let one fucking terrible mess of a system not only ruin but prevent every possibility of magic in any game in the future.

then limit the magics power/crunch,make certain magic types work only with certain roles, or just see the concept at a different angle in terms of what types to have.

You helped make the crunch, you are clearly one of the best people to figure out what number can make the difference between useless, useful and caster edition.
dont dismiss it just because people dont have the same foresight as each other.

anyway good luck with the items, il see if i can sort out the magic problem
what were the specifics that annoyed you with peoples ideas/solutions
>>
>>36305217
My personal ideas, as the current anon working on the magic splat, were that magic would come in two forms for players: Items, which would generally cast support spells and be useable by any character, or Alchemy, which was mostly a Smart Guy thing, not because others couldn't use it but because you needed to be smart.
For example, Jafar wouldn't be a wizard, he'd be a Sensible Guy with a Serpent Staff that granted him the abilities to cast Scrying and Hypnosis a limited number of times each day. Meanwhile, Grimhilde was a Smart Guy who used Alchemy to make the poison apple and her Magic Mirror to cast Scry an infinite number of times each day.
>>
>>36305254
Oh, and Jafar had an Artifact in the form of that scarab. Artifacts being powerful items that are unique, almost indestructible and basically just plot devices. For example, the Cauldron.

>saying that as if Wizards and people pretending to be Wizards were not the trolls themselves

No, we haven't. Magical items can certainly be included in core, so long as we're reasonable about it. Magic items like Jafar's staff have to be hard to obtain (impossible to obtain at chargen) and if they aren't just a stronger version of a mundane item they must require an Occult check of 25.
>>
>>36307598
No, I'm saying the way that every thread after a certain hour of the day seems to turn into "random trolls accuse any new posters of trolling and then shove them out, enforcing a secret club mentality." You're guilty of this yourself, I've seen your posts.
>>
>>36307657
I assure you, that is just us being paranoid about wizards. If new guys are willing to get with the program, then they should be welcomed, for there is absolutely no reason to turn them away.
>>
>>36307712
Then stop being paranoid about wizards, man. Seriously, if you know you're doing it then stop doing it.
>>
>>36307657
Maybe it's because around this time the trolls come out to bait paranoid people. It's not use turning people away: it's them.
>>
>>36307733
We must keep our guard up or they'll destroy everything we've been working for. This project is too important to let a couple of wizards obsessed troll destroy it.
>>
>>36307749
So, you just assume anyone who walks into the thread being curious is a troll? How paranoid can you get?
Besides, even if they were trolls, maybe if you didn't take the bait then they'd go away.
>>
>>36307787
Then ignore them. Do not take the bait. Instead of taking the bait by yelling at the bait about how much you're not taking it, just don't take it.
>>
>>36307733
It's a reflex at this point. If a beloved family member flicks their hand in your face, it doesn't matter that you know damn well that they would never hurt you, you're going to flinch.

I really wish that the wizards had never come to this thread, so that I, and others, would not have this fear and would respond to every new idea with a courteous manner and no hesitation.
>>
>>36307805
>>36307840
So now it's our fault? Do you have any other critics you want to make? Maybe something about how we need to add more magic options or change some rules?
>>
>>36307787
You let them destroy it by paying attention to them. Think about it. We could have been writing fluff, making rules, finishing the game, getting this done even more than it already is. Instead, we were arguing with each other.
>>36307854
You could just do it anyway. There's nothing stopping you. Just think before you post reflexively. Once you've typed up your insane rant on why somebody's a troll without any real provocation, just think to yourself "Do I have enough evidence for this conclusion?" Innocent until proven guilty, bro.
>>
>>36307886
You see what I mean? Somebody critiques you about something, and you assume it's a troll.
>>
>>36307919
Maybe it's because most of the time you are trolls.
>>

And if you weren't a troll, you'd shake your head and leave us to our errant ways.
>>
>>36307955
>>36307958

>>
>>36307854
Still, that flinch is something that happens instantly and reflexively. Unless you instantly and reflexively type up a paragraph on why somebody's a troll, you can stop yourself, answer their question in a civil manner. If they keep flinging shit even after that, then yeah, they're a troll.
>>36307958

>>
>>36308266
I've been here since before that. I just saw some guys coming in and didn't immediately assume they were trolls. You guys do what you want, but you'll isolate these threads and prevent new people being interested. To prove the point that I'm not a troll, I'm just going to stop replying and stop trying to end the paranoia. I can see logic and reason won't get past you. I'm trying to convince Cold War America that not everyone in Russia is Satan.
>>
Maybe some actual discussion of mechanics and fluff will stop the constant arguing. You guys think we should stat individual types of mook or do you think we should just stick with the generic templates? Because the current templates say nothing about resurrecting or being immune to persuasion, so they can't be used for the Cauldronborn.
>>
>>36308325
Well, goodbye then!

Anyhow, magic items. We accepted the idea of a magic wand earlier; it copied the genie power of being able to manipulate 1 kg or so of matter, and required a TN25 Occult check. So how do we scale up the Occult checks for more powerful wands? +5 for every doubling of the affected mass?
>>
>>36308408
I could see that working. By the way, I bring news from the magic splat on our interpretation of how magic items should work:
We have a spell list, but you need an item that can cast a specific spell in order to use it. For example, you can't cast Scrying at will, but if you possess a Magic Mirror, you can. We also believed that with most items, anyone could use them. That way, we don't deny magic items to people with a low Occult skill.
>>
>>36308370
I'd say give specific mook types specific traits, if it warrants that.

A better question; should Lackeys get one action or two, like PCs?

I think this wizard paranoia has gone a bit far: just say that magic isn't being debated right now and give them the reason. If they go "hurr durr apprentice Mickey", then you can disregard them.
>>
>>36308370
We never did get to the Cauldronborn, did we?

The consensus so far is that the rate at which they resurrect is dependent on both how they were destroyed and how thick the mist is in the particular area. So I think that every area is going to have a mist number that calculates how long it takes for the Cauldronborn to come back, and that every strike beyond the first adds a multiplier to this time (2 strikes takes twice as long as usual to revive, 3 strikes 3 times as long, etc.)

Are you so desperate to stop use from finding you out you can't even read the entire rule before criticizing us?
>>36308408
Finally some peace. Now, do you think every wand should have its own fixed TN, or should there be only one wand of that kind and the higher your roll the more matter you can influence?
>>36308473
>spell list
>scrying
shit nigga what are you even doing?
>>
>>36308513
Calm down. You can only cast Scrying if you are in front of and staring into a Magic Mirror. You can only cast any spell if you are using a magic item. For example, your magic wands you were discussing would let you cast Telekinesis.
>>36308513
Yes, and we haven't statted a single one of said mystical abilities. Now, shall we make a game or keep flinging shit?
>>
>>36308553
Then start statting, so we can see if you are actually trying to help us or if you are just here to troll us into losing more time.
>>
>>36308513
Not sure about the wands; it could go either way. Maybe all wands can influence more matter the higher you roll, but any wand might have a limit on it where you can't use it to effect any more than a given amount of mass.

As to the spell list, so long as it's just a list of effects that fit the nature of Disney magic, we have nothing to worry about. Taking a look at it myself, though.

>>36308635

Cauldronborn
Standard mook stats, but an 8 in Robustness, a 6 in Charm and a 3 in Intelligence.
+3 to Brawl, Intimidate and Avoid Harm.
Undead: The Cauldronborn will never obey commands contrary to those of the Horned King or a Wight. Though they can attempt to determine if somebody is lying, they cannot perform any other intellectual or social actions. They are also immune to any social rolls, and if killed, they come back to life within 6 days. (Roll 1d6.) Equipment is light armour and either a shield, which gives +1 to Prevent Harm, and a 1 handed weapon, a 2 handed melee weapon or a bow. They can use ranged or melee.

That way, some areas would make the Cauldronborn less of a threat, and mightier warriors would be much harder to overwhelm with respawning Cauldronborn. I also think 1d6 days is a little long; it didn't even take them 5 minutes to pop up when they were in the Horned King's castle.
