Welcome to the XXXII installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."

Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole.

It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords, the cutthroat merchants of the East India Trading Company and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous monarchs like Maleficent, the Horned King, Grimhilde and Jafar, mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog.

It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.

Welcome to thread XXII!
In the last thread we
>made more fluff
>ran and processed the second playtest
>made civil discussion about shipping elsa/sverd and elsa roughly dominating him
>complained that everything was OP
>determined that only armored and armed beasts were actually OP
>made some more fluff

And that about wraps up last thread.

Thread XXXII, rather.

Goddamn sticky keys.
>>
So if I'm reading the map on 1d4chan right, we're not going with the scenario where Rourke threw it in with the colony of virginia, and instead where the imperial republic is spread over islands around the world?
>>
>>36258258

So Nob, character-building question (related to both those posts):

I want to make a guinea pig Smart Guy, but I don't know if the Mouse traits are right for him. Guinea pigs can grow kinda big (see pic)

Thoughts?
>>
So; I've been bouncing around an idea in my head that will make Lackeys a bit more dangerous;
We're going to give Inner Circle and Villain enemies additional Actions every round, so should we do the same and give Lackeys 2 actions each?

>>36258348
Rourke and Radcliffe(Ratcliffe?) are allied, but not the same nation.
>>
It looks like we're at the point in our archival that we're starting to get a few downvoters on Sup/tg/
>>
>>36258363
Hmm. I'd recommend increasing the size to Small then, if you want a big-ol rodent creature. Perhaps I should change it to Rodents in the next 'bin, since at small it'd sort of encompass rabbits too.
>>
>>36258381
I blame the wizards.
>>
Suggestion: A Rapier or something similar that allows someone to use Agility instead of Robustness for melee, but just with that weapon.
>>
>>36258438
I remember a debate about replacing the 'no slowed movement through difficult terrain' with "can use agility for melee attacks' but i forgot how it concluded.
>>
>>36258464
well, mechanically, there isn't a huge difference between Melee and Ranged attacks other than the attributes involved, and you can already use ROBUSTNESS for Ranged with thrown weapons, so it seems fine.

Also, the reason I want to do it is that I want to be able to make a monkey that can fight, and ranged would make him Diddy Kong
>>
Totally making a dude from DOOMtown.
>>
>>36258520
didn't we remove doomtown?
>>
>>36258529

It's still here on the settings traits and the wiki - I don't see it on the map, though.
>>
>>36258520
Gonna have to wait until the expansions for that.
>>
>>36258538

Suppose I'll have to pick some place else then. Shouldn't be too hard.
>>
Every fucking time a new thread starts, discussion dies down entirely.
>>
>>36258715

I imagine it's pretty late for some folks, so they might have already turned in for bed.
>>
It's assumed that all characters have hammerspace for their stuff, right?
>>
>>36258754
Not really.
Try and keep it reasonable. Don't bring along a bajillion swords.
>>
>>36258754
Yeah. We aren't doing inventory management, and I'd advise against implementing weight limits.

>>36258715
It's late here (midnight) and i'm tired. I'm basically going to bed in the next twenty minutes and am only around to answer questions rather than actually debate.
>>
>>36258251
We all know Captain Jack was entirely okay with being the last of the pirates. We also know hes rather desperate for Immortality, going as far as the Fountain of Youth to do so. The only reason he have up on being the Dutchman was the fact he couldn't go back on land and he would become like Davy. We also know that Jack dislikes not only the brethern court, but also the pirate kings as well.

So, heres my question: What if Urusla promised Jack Immortality and free rights over the sea and piratery in exchange for being her lieutenant and killing off the rest of the pirates and davy Jones.

OR, we could use the first movie, and have Jack as the sole afflicantant of the Golden Medallions curse
>>
>>36258811
That's a good question, but I think Jack's fate is one of those things that we decided to leave up to the GM; he's either roaming the Asian seas in the Black Pearl, trying to overthrow the Pirate Kings, or he's currently in the Kraken and thus in Davy Jones' Locker.

Also; Jack's too smart to trust Ursula. Golden Curse would make more sense.
>>
I'm back and hopefully have everything catalogued.
Glad to hear playtests are going well.
>>
>>36258845
I dunno, hes fallen for some stupid tricks before. Remember the ending of pirates 3, where they lead jack out onto the meeting grounds, only to swap him out for Turner and steal his piece of eight? Also, I think Ursula would rather keep Jack around. Who would be a better human servant for the mad sea witch then the mad sea pirate?
>>
>>36258901
How would that even work?
>>
>>36258973

So Sverd, did your character have the Power 'Fated Duel', or was it something else? I've decided to go with a Strong Role character, so I'm looking for some advice.
>>
>>36258901
>>36258973

>Who would be a better human servant for the mad sea witch then the mad sea pirate?
Simple. Jack becomes the mad sea witch's mad sea bitch.
...Oh, Disney, and we were JUST talking about Elsa domming Sverd in the last thread, weren't we?
>>
Design archetypes for characters;
these aren't classes, just general paths players should be able to take their characters down.

None of this is written in stone, this is literally something we threw together back in the day and never really used again other than flavoring Powers after it.

http://pastebin.com/1qqesDus
>>
>>36258995
Taken from Sverd's power list:
Powers:
Test your might: Spend a Will Point to challenge an enemy to HONORABLE, SINGLE COMBAT. Neither you nor the target may attack others while in single combat, nor may you be attacked by outside forces. You and your target must close to melee as soon as possible. This effect lasts 3 rounds.
Zealous Champion: Martin cannot be dissuaded from the cause of protecting the weak and innocent by Illusions or social skills unless the other party spends a will point.

Sverd is above all a combination Robustness/Social character with nothing in-between, based off the idea of him being ludicrously naive and innocent. He's probably not the best model for a straight strength character, who'll want Robustness, Agility and Sensibility.

Well, I wanted to build from the more princely, 'knight on a white stallion' archetype that seems to be ever pertinent in Disney films, though rather than being naive and charming, he comes off as more brash and straight-to-the-point.
So far the powers I have him revolve around ally fighting, with Protector and Achilles Heel, though I'd like for him to be able to ride into combat. >>36259026
Sort of like the 'rider and melee fighter' idea mentioned here, but I've also considered good old sword and board.

Vergil part 2

Physical Description: A fairly large and plump brown guinea pig, wearing a vest and waistcoat complete with handkerchiefs and monocle.

RUNDOWN:
His mother and father were two guinea pigs for one of Yzma’s many experiments to increase intelligence. Or maybe she just transformed them from humans. Vergil doesn’t really know. Afterwards, they were left to face the world (and all the hungry, hungry Peruvians) on their own. They managed to escape, though, and Vergil was born aboard the vessel, inheriting his parents’ human-level intelligence.
The ship came to port, and the wandering Vergil was found by the daughter of an EITC officer and became the family pet. To their surprise, they soon discovered that Vergil was as smart as any other person, and thus led a comfortable young life reading all the books in the family’s library, playing with the officer’s daughter, and learning to be a proper English gentleman.
When the daughter got married, she left some of her dolls' clothes to Vergil, who then decided to set out into the world in the pursuit of knowledge.

Is well-spoken and tries to keep a stiff upper lip as a proper gentleman should, but is prone to jumpiness nonetheless. He is IMMEDIATELY suspicious of any human or carnivore that he knows/suspects is from South America, unless he has a written/spoken promise from them that they’re not interested in eating him. He’s also wary of the ‘savages’ that exist in the wild

Equipment: EITC maps of the world (+1 travel)
2 or 3 guinea pig-size notebooks, a few pencil halves, fountain pen and ink
spare monocles with chains, spare handkerchiefs

Feel free to rate! (Is this too fragile a character? Will he die right away???)

Right proper Disney character here. Two issues; Your character has poor means of dealing Strikes, but you're just going to have to suck that up. Other issue: Professor isn't a class, it isn't anything really. It's just an idea to develop things.

However, when the Mistress of all Evils rose to power, all of France came to suffer from her rule. Innocents were tormented and transformed, and among these victims was Antoine’s wife. Cursing her for her vain nature and exceptional beauty, Maleficent changed her form into that of white peony – Shocked and stunned, Antoine immediately set out on a quest to return his wife to her human shape, searching for ways in which to restore her. However, he fears this may mean confronting Maleficent directly.

Like how there's a seventeenth century East India Trading Company in a world where medieval England is ruled by the Horned King and medieval Scotland is ruled by a giant bear, while on the other side of the world late Puritans square off against Roarke and his early twentieth century magitech mercenaries.

Not saying its a problem, just want to know for the sake of writing fluff.

Wrote this as a possible start for a campaign, about as open-ended as I could manage.

The players open their eyes. The world has somehow changed between blinks; they no longer stand where they did a moment before. They are in a wide chamber with gold walls and floor and a ceiling the color of the dusking sky, decorated with stars and arcane symbols. The players spot each other for the first time, interactions ensue.

After a few minutes of conversation, the double doors at one end of the chamber open, though nothing emerges. Instead the players find a staircase stretching through a void of stars to another set of doors, seemingly connected to nothing. Magic is clearly afoot.

Beyond the second doors is a much smaller room, filled with stacks of ragged books, alchemical fluids pooling together, broken charms scattered about the floor haphazardly. In a large chair opposite the door sits a man. His beard is long and white, though unkempt, his robes a dark blue, tattered from what seems like ages of neglect. The man himself seems emaciated, though his posture is stiff and his gaze fierce.

"Welcome, travelers, do enter my sanctum. I pray you forgive me for spiriting you away so suddenly, but I would not have dared were the need not so dire. My name is Yen Sid, I was once a sorcerer of great power, though I have since been demoted to an observer, my powers dwindling by the growing darkness, though I still have enough to beckon you to and from this tower. I knew not whom the spell would seek out, only that it would search for those who crave a better world, those with the will to pursue a truly good future. Come, tell me of yourselves."

Yen Sid listens carefully to each player. He does not respond to questions until each one has had their say.

CONT'D
>>
>>36260522
There is desperation in the sorcerer's eyes, though his face remains stern.

"I know it is an enormous task I entrust to you, and you have the right to refuse. But know this: a good soul that chooses not to stand against this plague is akin to a hundred evil ones. Inaction will spell the true end of this world. If you succeed, however, even in saving the world from the smallest part of its evils, you will have done the work of ten lifetimes."

Yen Sid conjures his crystal ball with a wave of his trembling hand. It illustrates for the players as he continues, showing fertile lands falling to ruin, bold heroes defeated and dying, sorrow and terror spreading.

"This world was not always destined for such a cruel fate. Heroes have fallen, kingdoms crumbled, families scattered and true love... denied. Conquered by tyrants, destroyers and traitors, it is the villains victorious where never before should they have triumphed. It is because of a force of great evil, intervening at every moment, foiling each act of heroism, that this world has fallen to such ruination. I dare not speak its name for fear of drawing its attention to you."

The sorcerer sighs deeply, he is still coping with his own failures.

"I have attempted to counteract the fiend, but to no avail, for it was well-prepared for my magics. You may be the last hope for this world, and I can offer little guidance. I know not how to vanquish this great evil... but you may be able to discover one. Go out into the world, seek out the last vestiges of hope among the people of this broken world and rally them. I implore you, for a brighter world, do not allow evil to remain triumphant."

Good crunching, man. Time to flesh out his personality!
What would make him interesting?
(Keep in mind: I'm just giving you suggestions to make him stand out a bit and give you more ideas to roleplay him. Feel free to ignore any of this.)

Now what makes him different?
Does he think badly of all fairies because of what happened to his wife?
Does he have relationship issues?
Does he carry his wife the peony in a flowerpot with him? Does he talk to it?

The fact that he's scared of Maleficent is good. I'm just saying all this because while it's fine to play a straight Disney character expy, adding in something else will make him more memorable.

*clapping*

Hey, man, can I use most of this for the Adventurer's Almanac introduction? It's general enough to set the tone for the entire RPG.
>>
>>36260617
Go ahead, it's meant to work for just about any campaign.
>>
>>36260549

His nature is charming, but also rather brash. While many could consider his confidence a good thing, he sometimes comes across as rather audacious or overbearing.

>Does he think badly of all fairies because of what happened to his wife?
Yes, he would hold a strong loathing towards them not only for what happened to his wife, but also due to the constant havoc being wrought upon civilizations all across France. Though Antoine fears Maleficient’s power (as well as the power of the fae as a whole), he feels very strongly that they must be stopped. It would certainly take a while for him to get used to a ‘good fairy’, though they would never be able to see eye-to-eye.

>Does he have relationship issues?
Well, he certainly doesn't think so! But of course, there were quite a few problems with their marriage. He had the tendency to smother his wife and shower her with material goods, and though that’s not to say that he’s clueless as to how to have a proper relationship, he was upset that their marriage didn’t have a concrete ‘happily ever after’ – the bumps in the relationship persisted after the two of them got hitched, while he believed that they would go away after they were wed.
Perhaps it wasn't his wife that was being punished so much as it was him - for his treatment towards her.

>Does he carry his wife the peony in a flowerpot with him? Does he talk to it?
I was thinking of having him pin it on his chest or carry it in some sort of pot, but he probably wouldn’t talk to it openly – in fact, trying to converse with his wife is something that he’s tried a countless number of times, though she doesn’t seem to be able to respond in her current form. He’s not even sure if she can hear him - I think that he would only talk to her if he was very sad.
>>
>>36260733

And bam! Now we all know more about him, and you know a bit more about how to play him. Everybody wins!
>>

No idea. I was actually going to make one character for each role so I could pick the one that best fits (and so I can have backups if one of them dies.)

Speaking of which, have another combat monster.

Name: Helga O'Hara
Role: Strong Girl
Country of Origin: Land of the Bear
Size: Medium
Species: Human

---Attributes---
Robustness: 12/12
Agility: 8/12
Intelligence: 7/12

Will: 3/3
Strikes: 4/4

---Skills---
Acrobatics: 3
Athletics: 3
Melee: 4
Ranged: 3
Brawl: 4

Honorable Challenger: +3 to Melee and Prevent Harm while engaged in one-on-one combat.

Let Me Show You How It's Really Done: +2 to combat rolls is the foes are using the same type of weapon or combat style

---Powers---
Steel Drivin’: Spend one Heart Point. Gain a huge bonus for the next five non-combat physical acts of strength

>>
>>36260853

Physical Description:

A fairly large (5’9”) and well-muscled girl with auburn hair and freckles, in typical mercenary dress. She has a bandanna of her family’s tartan that she wears around her neck/head at all times. She’s only been at this mercenary stuff for a while, and has already gotten sick of the things her fellows have been doing for pay, so she’s struck out on her own.

She has a rather bad temper at times, and tends to break stuff when she’s angry, inadvertently or no. There’s a small chance she will also slip into nigh-intelligible Scottish brogue as well.
Her ego bruises easily, and she reacts badly to teasing (see above). She’s prone to take people seriously and finds it hard to turn down a challenge issues to her. However, she’s basically good-natured for the most part, and is always up for a fight.

Equipment:

Basic Mercenary Armor (medium armor)
Longsword (+2 to Melee, 1-or-2 handed)
Hunting Knife (+1 to Melee)

Posting my updated K/L/R for Captain Hook.

King: Captain Hook - Pixie Dust. Thanks to the captive Tinkerbell, Hook has outfitted himself and his allies with flying ships to best evade the wrath of the sea witch Ursula. With the pirates constantly thinking happy thoughts about pirating as much as they could ever want, the majority of the captains and their crews are capable of individual flight as well, making them formidable foes. (They are, however, prone to depression. Songs about mothers seem to cripple morale). Captain Hook himself is a proud and capricious man who puts great faith in his skills as a leader, swordsman and sailor, and for good reason. Hook is a master of morale, and even the most cowardly buccaneer will gladly charge into battle with the captain's inspirational words and well-placed threats. His skill with a rapier is impeccable, but Hook though he adores good form, he is often found cheating in duels. Despite his shortcomings, his navigation skills through the skies are second to none, and he will gladly offer his services to those whom he doesn't plunder first.

Lands: The Islands and the Cloud Sea. The islands controlled by the pirate alliance are constantly under siege from the sea, and so are largely unused on a day-to-day basis. Shore leave is a joyous occasion for the pirates, though very brief. PCs without flight must risk traversing the seas and catching one of the crews during their brief shore leaves before Ursula catches wind of the party and whips up a storm. The skies are where the pirates reign supreme, however, and any airborne group is a potential target for the loot-hungry pirate fleet. Walking the plank is nearly a mile down to the treacherous seas below. Pirates are predictable people though, and true to form they leave many buried treasures on their many islands. PCs in need of wealth might be able to track down these hidden caches, though digging up the pirates' treasure is a guaranteed way to make an enemy of them.

Rule: Good Form. The crews of Hook, Davy Jones and the Pirate Lords abide by the strict laws of the Pirate's Code. The Code dictates everything of piratical life: rules of hierarchy, manners, fashion, engagement, combat etiquette, loot and just about every other aspect of life. The Code is to be strictly adhered to, and the pirates' views on the PCs will relate directly to it. A pirate PC would know the Code by heart, but any other would have to ask around or guess as to whether an question or action would possibly go against the Code. Violating the Code is a serious offense, one that could merit death if severe enough, though the rules can be skirted fairly easily since they're more of guidelines than actual rules. PCs that encounter Hook's fleet will most certainly be attacked, unless they can prove their usefulness otherwise. There is a good chance that the PCs will be shanghaied if they prove themselves to be capable fighters (though not capable enough to overpower the pirates).

It's all over the place, really. The disparity isn't too bad, because most of the medieval or early gunpowder age factions also have a) numbers and b) magic to tip the scales in their favor. After all, a machine gun may be a great odds-leveler, but not when the enemy has giant stone jaguars (Kan), sorcerers turning your bullets into noodles (Jafar), knowledge of all your strategies (Grimhilde), a massive terrain advantage (La, the Beast Kings), or a willingness to keep charging long after you've run out of bullets (Frollo).

Compounding that is that Atlantis, the most high-tech civilization, is also by far the smallest - even with its land territories, I doubt it could field an army of more than a few thousand. Not to mention that a lot of their best stuff, like the ancient Atlantean machines, is probably irreplaceable.
>>
>>36261878
>>36260446

I always felt the reason for the tech disparity was because certain Villains or a more long-lived or immortal bent actively tried to repress technological advancement in their realms, or, through the presence of magic, convinced their citizens that it wasn't necessary. The more technologically advanced nations seem to be from the Americas and perhaps Australia, which you could choose to interpret as a result from colonists and immigrants escaping the Villain held lands and allowing technology to develop before their own villains were established in the New World.
>>
>>36261962
Yeah. After all, why would Cauldronborn need guns? The only thing it does is give them the same result slightly faster, and the Horned King's a patient dude.

Besides, getting hacked apart with an axe is much slower and more painful than a bullet to the head, and we all know how the King feels about pain.
>>
>>36261740
I know this has nothing to do with the thread, but my autism forces me to say that most of the stories about that are bullshit. By the time of the war polish cavalry acted as mounted infantry (they fought on foot with rifles, machineguns and shit but used horses to move rapidly between battles) and was actually in the process of replacing horses with motorcycles and tankettes. What really happened is that an Ulhan division attacked a german convoy near the town of Chojnice but was caught in a counter-ambush by a tank division. When the war journalists arrived and started asking about all the dead horses the germans fed them the bull about the cavalry charge to make the polish look incompetent and backward in the eyes of potential allies. After the war the new soviet regime perpetuated the story to discredit the nobles and bourgeis of the local military elite.
>>
>>36262050
Yeah. Not to mention soldiers on horseback stuck around well into World War II, it wasn't just Poles being dumb.
>>
>>36258438

But you can already use Agility with Melee.
>>
>>36262371
so you don't need a trait or a power for it?
>>
>>36262427

No, you just have to roll on Agility + Melee; it's only the great sword that stops you from doing that.
>>
I'm trying to write up a short bit to do with Virginia, but I'm unclear on how concrete the tech-level is. Are they still fucking around with 1600-1700's stuff, or has it progressed at least a little bit thanks to the fact that they don't have magic to back 'em up and their tyrant doesn't quite have a hard-on for their current level?
>>
FINALLY DONE:

>King: Empress Yzma the First and Last
While Empress Yzma's dominion over the majority of South America would seem to imply that she is doing something right, you might be hard pressed to figure out exactly what that something is. Building on the foundations of narcissism, madness and wild unpopularity laid down by her predecessor and one-time protege Emperor Kuzco, Yzma's reign has so far brought more of the same, making the transition of power a relatively smooth one from the perspective of her jaded subjects. Despite all appearances however, she is much more than just a crazy old lady that's scary beyond all reason. Empress Yzma the First and Last is a consummate mad scientist with an encyclopedic knowledge of chemistry, alchemy, pharmacology and zoology. Even beyond her love of transforming people into bizarre and ridiculous things, she is also well versed in other cartoonishly super-villainous disciplines, such as lever pulling, deathray building, monster ranching, secret laboratory rollercoasting and, her most impressive feat to date: banishing the sun from her Empire. The true threat Yzma poses to would-be adventurers and the world is not what you know she can do, but what you don't know she will do.
>>
>>36262995

>Land: The Sunless Empire
The first thing an adventurer would notice about the Sunless Empire is that it does indeed appear to lack a sun, having in its place something very much but not quite like a solar eclipse with a caricature of the Empress' bat-like face at the center. This astronomical eyesore leaves the entirety of Yzma’s Sunless Empire bereft of the daystar’s life-giving rays, but aside from blanketing the land in an eternal twilight it does not seem to have affected things much at all. For reasons Empress Yzma will not or cannot explain, plant and animal life continue to flourish despite the lack of sunshine, leaving the lowlands and tributaries swathed in some of the densest and most untamed jungle the world has ever known. This jungle is crowded with the dangerous mix-and-match beasts and violent vegetation that have flourished there as a result of centuries of magical potion runoff that has flowed downhill from the Empire’s population centers in the Yzmandean Mountains, surrounding the upland-heartlands like a madcap moat and protecting it from the militaristic machinations of most other nations.
>>
>>36263006

In the Sunless Empire proper, the upland-heartlands are densely populated and extensively terraced to provide Empress Yzma’s citizens with the room they need to live their lives, farm their land and raise their llamas, or whatever it is that peasants do with all that free time they always seem to have when they aren’t dealing with random transformations, tax-hikes and their Empress’ mad whims. Above them, the peaks of the Yzmandean Mountains themselves have been sculpted into the stylized likenesses of the Empress and carved out into a labyrinthine, cliff-clinging metropolis known as Yzmopolis, an empty city but for all the failed experiments wandering around, built mostly as a monument to Yzma’s vanity. Above even this rambling ghost town is the great golden palace of Empress Yzma the First and Last Herself is perched upon the tallest mountain, craning the necks and rolling the eyes of all below who behold its tackiness.
>>
>>36263017

>Rule: Nothing is certain except death and taxes. And monsters. And Kronk’s stupidity.
Empress Yzma the First and Last cares just as much about adventurers and their plans as she does about her subjects and their hopes, dreams and aspirations, which is to say she cares nothing at all for any of these things. All Yzma really cares about is her comfort, her vanity, her experimentation and, just maybe, Kronk, and anything the adventurers do, absolutely anything that doesn’t directly impact the Empress or her ego will go completely unnoticed. The Sunless Empire is a strange and intensely magical place after centuries of its ruler’s rampant experimentation, and as a result the majority of its population possesses at least some mix-and-match animal parts, with a fair number among them being fully chimeric creatures. This does not make them bad people, but it has left them completely jaded and used to Empress Yzma’s mad schemes and machinations, making them less inclined to aid adventures in attempts to overthrow the mad scientist. It also suggests that the longer the adventures stay in the Sunless Empire, the higher the chance is that they may wind up with a tiger tail or ram’s horns or something equally outlandish as a result of the high ambient magic levels.
>>
>>36262875
1700, but they import a lot of atlantean stuff.
>>
>>36263006

This actually presents a semi-legitimate reason why Yzma's empire is so huge. It's not that she's actually gone out and conquered these lands. The magical pollution from Yzmopolis has just fucked everything up downhill from it.

I like this, because it gives the character a range of actions and interpretations that are still seen in the original movie. May I add one?

>Lord Weselton survived the deep freeze brought about after the events of Queen Elsa's coronation, but was unable to flee Arendelle as Hans had and was left trapped in the frozen wasteland. Luckily, Oaken and his family found the half-frozen nobleman on one of their exploratory expeditions and took him back to their hotspring-warmed compound where he still lives today, unable to return to his come country. Along with Ice Anna, Hans and Queen Elsa herself, Weselton is one of only four people who know what really happened to Arendelle, and this knowledge weighs on his heart and his conscience to this day.

Strong of jaw, long of hair, and both tattooed and built heavily. Rundown:
A genuine prince of a Polynesian tribe, his ambition far exceeded what he could find on his tiny little island. He knew that there was so much out there....so he snuck onto the ship of that band of pirates who often used his island as a place to hide from the law and spent his adolescence growing up among the wolves of the sea. Now a man, he's ready to make a name for himself; he's got the sword, the gun, the snazzy outfit, he's got a ship! Sure, it's only a sloop, and he doesn't even have a crew for it, but it's a start.

Fun fact: his name amounts to 'manly thunder', and his sloop is 'the storm'.

I like this. Let's do this. I can't think of what to do with the other dignitaries quite yet, maybe we'll do nothing, but dang if I don't want to include the Spanish in somewhere.

On the side I think there should be a Good, Bittersweet, and Bad way to defeat the villains or "beat" the game.

Good should be classical disney ending. All the good guys are restored either by Walt Deus ex machina or some other disney magic.

Bittersweet is we won but we've still lost a lot of our friends along the way. Elsa's bittersweet ending is a good example.

I'm not edgy enough to right the bad one

I love it. I completely lost it at "middle Yzmanager"
>>
>>36264379

You managed to show how hilariously horrible it is to live under Yzma's rule and how jaded her subjects are too it while still giving the story a really sweet ending. I loved the ever present "Yzm-isms," and hope that maybe Cava can use those new wings and find some nice delivery job or something somewhere before she gets too mutated.

More rumor mill stuff

Aladdin
>_____> Dead, but we all already assumed that. Probably froze to death at the end of the world.

>Not dead, he actually made it back to the Cave of Wonders. His belief is that there is an item in the Cave of Wonders that will give him the power to defeat Jafar and restore the Caliphate to what it should be.

>Wants to get into the Cave of Wonders but is unable to because the Cave only allows you to enter if you name a single item inside it, and then allows you to grab ONLY that one item. Aladdin is now attempting to find a record of any item in the cave of wonders that could be of use (maybe trying to get into the Beast's Library or in the hidden records of Atlantis)

>Got changed into an animal by the Aurora Borealis and can now be found in one of the Beast Kingdoms

>Is in Arendelle taken in by Oaken and his family

>Was taken in by the trolls

>Was actually found by Elsa, who miraculously spared his life. He is unable to escape her Ice Palace and provides Elsa with her only source of mirth and happiness when she's not in her mad depressed state by telling her all about his love of his life, Jasmine.

I like your way if thinking, but I'm not sure about restoring fallen heroes, or at least all fallen heroes to life.

>Walt, in that quaint little house in the orange grove serves his heroic guests ice cold lemonade as they look around at all the framed pictures of the legendary figures from history lining the walls of the old man's sunny drawing studio. A sketch of the brave thief Aladdin here, a black and white photograph of the original Atlantis Expedition there, a beautiful Chinese painting of Ping Mulan while we was still alive and but a young woman. Hundreds of pictures of heroes and heroines, many dead, many long dead in the pursuit of freedom.

>"They're not really gone, you know."

>Walt says, sitting down on the stool in front if his drafting table, the last glass of lemonade placed in its last waiting hand.

>"Not entirely, I mean. I remember them all here, heroes and villains alike, just as you remember them. They may no longer be there with you, but so long as you remember them and honor their memories, they will always be a part of the story."

>"Your story."

>"And the story never really ends, does it. Not until happily every after, anyways."
>>
>>36264751
You've got Aladdin in a reverse 1001 Arabian Nights situation there with Elsa. Whether on purpose or by accident, bravo.
>>
>>36264987

See I consider this a GREAT bittersweet ending. I loved it. Great writing. Just I think that the rumor mill, as long with the endings should allow the DM to anyway they want. Some people are listed off as just dead. And that's no fun. If a DM wants to go that route then fine but I think most of us here are leaning bittersweet anyway. Let's just leave a door open for Good, because it fits the goal of "Disney-as-fuck"

>>36265031

That was not intentional but now I love the idea.
>>
>>36264751
>taken in by Elsa

That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard. We should remove that one, it fucks up both stories.
>>
>>36264828
>yfw it's just a four-way
>>
>>36265112
I kinda like it just for fucking up both stories. It adds a hint of interconnectedness between stories, in a more unusual way - It provides a way for players to care about going to the Frozen North other than just to fuck around with Elsa. Now, they can hear rumors about this hero who's still alive up there and they have a reason to go there, or they are doing stuff in Agrabah and they find out Aladdin's still alive and they need his whatever. Or, if you're starting in Elsa's story, hearing about this street-rat who somehow survived for years with Elsa might bring your party to explore Agrabah in order to find out more information.

It's a wonderful source of campaign-connecting plot hooks.
>>
>>36265240
Connecting totally unconnected plot lines is a fucking terrible idea, mate. Besides fucking with the spirit of Disney you've created a convoluted interwoven thing that should really stay only linked to plausible connections. It also goes against the character we've established for both characters.
>>
>>36265299

All the plot lines are already connected in a rather significant way. I mean we have ONE WORLD where ALL THE DISNEY resides. And trade and interact with each other. Europe has a ton of different plot lines all bumping into each other. In fact the ones that don't connect as easily are the ones that stand out. Like China and Mulan. But we got the Shadowlands and the Old west bumping into each other as well as the Radcliffe's virginia which has connections to Atlantis which has connections to Queen La which has connections to the Pride Lands which interacts with the Caliphate and so on.

We've already written that the Taran, Arthur, and Merida could potentially be working together to create Uber Brytonia

Also keep in mind that these are rumors. It would be up to the DM to include them or not. The current setup leaves alot open to the DM, and rightly so.

Aladdin is more out there because well he was sent to a Frozen wasteland and there so happens to be a disney movie named FROZEN.
>>
>>36265299

It's just one of many possible rumors. It wouldn't be one of my choices were I to be running a campaign, but I doubt there's any harm in throwing it in if we're casting our rumor net wide.

>Former Emperor Kuzco:

>Remained a llama for the rest of his days, beyond which little else is known. However, some of the Sunless Empire's more aerially inclined subjects have reported finding an isolated mountain valley inhabited by an "empire" of suspiciously intelligent but childish llamas that do little but raise stone monuments to themselves and bicker with each other about proper imperial lineage and rights to the throne.

Also, are there any magic builds? I'm pretty happy with Antoine, but I'd like to give a few other roles a look over in terms of mechanics.
>>
>>36265440

> are there any magic builds?

NOOO, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!
>>
>>36265440

There is one Anon who is working on a magic splat book, but as of right now we are focusing on testing and troubleshooting the base game before we deal with the havoc magic can cause. As long as you're polite and respectful about the topic you should be fine, but the Magic-Inclusion, Magic-Exclusion debates have raged hard in the last and are a sore spot for many posters.
>>
>>36265412
The point is that Elsa taking him in goes super duper against her character. To the point where it basically invalidates everything else we've written so far. The res of the stuff you wrote is pretty ok bit that one just is such a big 'fuck you' to the character of Elsa and DVV in general that it needs to go.

And the people working together are doing so because it makes geographical sense and fits in with what we've made them out to be, this spectacularly does not.
>>
>>36265112
>>36265299
>>36265478

Gonna have to agree with this anon that having Elsa take Aladdin in is a really stupid point. It just doesn't work. Even saying the frozen wasteland he went to was Arrendelle and not Antarctica is pushing it.
>>
>>36265478
>>36265503

I think feelings on the matter are pretty clear now so let's not harp on it. Speaking of which, wasn't there some sort of magic harp in a Disney short or cartoon? One that had the body of a woman carved into it and would play itself? Or am I remembing something else entirely?
>>
>>36265468
>>36265460

Oh really? Yikes. But I agree, the base game is very easy to understand at its core, and I appreciate the system for it is currently.

How about 'Nimble Guys'? Anyone mess around with those blokes much? I haven't seen many builds outside of the bowman or gunslinger.
>>
>>36265588

You can do a lot of nice stuff with them, considering that they cover any physical character more reliant on reflexes and coordination than strength.

A duelist would be a great Nimble Character.
>>
>>36265633

I assume you mean gun duelist?
I don't know, I thought it would be fun to see what sort of wacky ranged weapons people could get away with, like a boomerang or something.
>>
>>36265633

A duelist, a street rat, a cat burglar, there are a whole lot of things you can do with Nimble characters.
>>
>>36265669
Oh, now a boomerang would be interesting. Maybe a character with ties to the Huntsmen and australia with a boomerang and a big knife?
>>
>>36265669

No, an actual duelist. A swashbuckling gentleman, if you'd rather call it that way.

Remember: Agility and Melee work together, just like ROBUSTNESS! and Ranged (even if for Thrown Weapons only).
>>
>>36265703

Oh, so you can use either Robustness + Melee OR Agility + Melee?
>>
>>36265719

Yes: the only melee weapon exclusively made for ROBUST! characters is the great sword.

I mean: you can still use it with Agility, but you need high ROBUSTNESS! to avoid getting a penalty.
>>
>>36265719

Pretty much every Attribute + Skill combination is fine, as long as you can justify it.

Agility + Academics is hard to justify, but Agility + Melee is easy.
>>
>>36265751

Hmm...maybe I should change up my stats a bit then, from 12/12 Robustness and 10/12 Agility to 12/12 Agility and 10/12 Robustness.
That way I could throw in the Superior Speed trait and get that +2 to attack and defend against slower dudes.
Plus, could I still use the GREAT SWORD with 10 Robustness?
>>
>>36265719
>>36265751
>>36265778
Cool
>>
>>36265778
I know it's not Disney, but would Agility+Academics be someone like Indiana Jones?
>>
>>36265793

With no problems at all: a 10 in ROBUSTNESS! and you're already a very buff man.

>>36265818

Indiana Jones would have both high Agility and high Academics, yes, but he would still roll Intelligence + Academics most of the time.
>>
>>36265778
>Agility + Academics

The character isn't so much a hunter as a zoologist, and uses their high agility to get in close to measure the beast with a measuring tape, listen to its heart with a stethoscope, stick their head in its mouth, all before the creature can react.

Or:

The character is an adventure archeologist, traveling the world looking for artifacts both magical and mundane, using their high dexterity and quickness to speed through boobytraps and tricks.

>>
>>36265859

In this case you would dodge the boulder with Agility + Prevent Harm, but yes, the idea is fucking hilarious.
>>
>>36265865

Actually, the only splat/expansion I'm really looking forward to is the Toon one.
>>
>>36265858
It's not especially one-sided. The pirates fly overhead all the time and raid what ships do pay her tolls to sail (See: The EITC) and under Rourke's government the Atlanteans proceed to give exactly zero fucks about Ursula and send out their submarines anyways.

There was some greentexts in the early threads that were basically Rourke using speakers on buoys to fuck with Ursula, I think.
>>
>>36265865
Speaking of, progress update on the magic splat so far:
>Still waiting for somebody to add sub-roles to 1d4chan so I can see what the Wise Men/Shamans and Alchemists do
>Possible magic item: Atlantean Crystal - can restore 1 strike per day on any target as long as the wearer is touching them, can allow communication with the Crystal Heart providing the user is in Atlantis and has her/its attention
>>
>>36265902

Well, in that case, where is Calypso in this setting? I think she could be a neutral party at best, and should at least own a portion of the waters.
>>
>>36265882
>>36265859

The character may claim that they're a professor or an archeologist, but they don't actually hold any degrees in anything they claim to, being closer to a straight up adventurer than an academic. They are like the Discworld's Rindewind in a way, who is a wizard by title but a sprinter by skill and a hero by plain bad luck.
>>
>>36265979

And now you have a new character to play.

Basically, Ratigan from the Great Mouse Detective has this global Under-Empire/spy network thing, and is basically a glorified information broker.

Kristoff Rumor Mill:
>DEAD
>Everyone's dead, Elsa.
>One of Elsa's ice dolls.
>People speak of the Frozen Guide. Whether he is a ghost or a frozen corpse that seems to walk on its own is uncertain, he is a tall, rugged blond young man who is always accompanied by a reindeer of a similar undead nature. He appears only to the lost in the mountains, and helps them find their way to safety, usually to the warm valley of the trolls. He can often be heard weeping for his lost true love, but never speaks, unless he hears someone ask about how Arendelle ended up in such a sorry state. Then he will tell them the terrible truth, for in life he was a character of the tragic story himself: Kristoff, the ice harvester who accompanied and fell in love with Princess Anna.

>ALIVE
>Kristoff says he's trying to pick up the pieces of his life and carry on his career as an ice harvester, but more often than not he spends his time helping people traverse the icy mountains. If the trip takes more than about four hours, he will inevitably tell the true tragic tale of how Arendelle ended up in such a sorry state, and his own role in it. Not a night goes by where does not shed at least a single tear for Anna; encountering Ice Anna will not make him feel any better, for the sight of a twisted mockery of his true love only hurts him more. In order to get his best ending, the true Anna must be restored to life.
>>

Good to see you back Atlantean! I'd listed it there because daily life in Atlantis is something I've been wanting to see, even if I had to write it myself. Maybe a little slice of Mahrikatohka's home life before she shipped off in the Bellerophon or met the rest of "Disney Team Alpha."

>>
>>36266697

I guess so. It looks like people really like to make Strong Guys so far, so I'm going to make my Charisma and my Nimbleness characters and see what else happens.

>Milo Thatch manipulates Rourke into skirmishing with the other kings by arranging 'archeological expeditions' into hotspots in other king's territories.
>King Arthur Pendragon, Taran of Caer Dallben and Meridia of the Scots fight the good fight against the Horned King in Prydain. With Hen Wen, they are able to see the strategy of their enemy before he can even think of it himself.
>In France, Prince Henry engages in intrigue in the courts to deal with the invaders from without and the Inquisition within, while Prince Phillip gathers strength of arms against the fae. There are even rumors of a prince made a horrible beast working in collusion with them.
>Knowing what your enemy knows is an important asset and Grimhilde often lends use of her mirror, so Prince Florian's spies in the Mirror Kingdom oft benefit the entire Alliance.

Nazi Cauldronborn do exist.
>>
>>36267449
>and the PCs actually did nothing while the canon Disney heroes won a few years later anyway

WAAAAAY too noblebright. Having all the Disney princes alive in jolly cooperation and eventually going to win anyway defeats the entire point of the setting and MASSIVELY downplays PC roles.
>>
>>36267530
Pick and choose which princes you want to live to your liking. Also, remember that they cannot communicate with each other QUICKLY, that they need many messengers to go between them, and that their enemies are so numerous and great men so few that there's no way that even they can succeed without the help of multiple parties of PCs. In fact, multiple parties of PCs may even be needed to assemble the alliance in the first place.

Alternatively, view it as a big rumor mill for many different princes who don't talk to each other.
>>
I could get behind the idea of a "Princely Alliance" as a banner for a commoners' revolution or composed of a very few remaining princes who ally the selves with the PC heroes, but don't think they ought to be a globe-spanning secret organization just waiting to strike. Even if, for instance, Mulan the Undying is the one to land the death blow on Shan Yu, she is in the throne room to do it because she, the PCs and the Spiritual Army worked hard to be there.
>>
>>36267672
They cannot really be 'waiting to strike'; they are too far apart geographically, and their enemies are too independent of each other. All they can really do is exchange information and things.....which I admit, can still get you pretty far.
>>
>>36267449
I'm afraid this is a bit optimistic, some of the princes are well-screwed just by the nature of the villains winning.
Eric probably drowned since ramming a boat into Ursula didn't work, Phillip might still be in Maleficent's dungeons for all we know, etc.
>>
>>36267449
Christ Knightfag, what's it with you and making it easy mode for the players and making the villains look utterly bloody incompetent?
>>
>>36267449
That's not what this setting's about. There isn't the Big Alliance of Good Guys unless the PCs make one. It's Grimbright, that's the point. The world is shit and good is about to be completely and utterly destroyed, but there's still hope if the heroes have the courage to change things.

When you look at the PCs, they're well intentioned people who live in a horrible, harsh world that fell long ago. Nobledark.
>>
>>36267971

But it's not a bright fairy tale world anymore: the villains won and the world is dark.

It's just Nobledark.
>>
>>36267942

Welcome back! I think it would be a good idea to stat out NPC allies like you've done with Mulan, butthat its probably something than can wait till we're ready to undertake the task. I would like it if you could post her stats though, if you please.
>>
>>36267942

I'm interested

Additionally a cooperation pact between the princes give evil characters/edgelords something to target in the game.

Again, rumor mill. It just helps the DM tweak the setting to however grim or noble or bright or dark as they want it to be. No problem putting more options in there.

What is it with shitty fluff suggestions this thread?
The Elsa/Aladdin thing, this 'fuck the PCs contribution' organization, what next? Where is the singing and writefaggotry?

There's no real reason to just insult people.
Also, some of us aren't NEETs, and have employment, education, or training to be at during daylight hours.

Although, Aladdin making it to Scandinavia somehow is a bit suspension-of-disbelief breaking.
>>
>>36268164

I know that I have a shitty job in at rift now that has kept me from writing about Cruella and the Huntsmen cocktail hour, but there are a few good pieces of writing in this thread, especially:

>>36262995
>>
>>36268182

But he was sent by Jafar to some frozen land at end of the world. This actually happened in the original movie.

Aladdin being in Arendelle is the closest to Disney canon we've ever got in this setting.
>>
>>36267010
Uh, link appears to be broken, it redirects me to the homepage.
>>
>>36268182
I always figured he was sent to the Himalayas. There's no way he'd get back to Agrabah at the speed he did from Norway
>>
>>36268228
It's pretty obvious that was supposed to be far north Scandinavia or, far more likely, Antarctica. Not where civilization is or where Arrendelle is implied to be. (South Norway)

>>36268241
Actually, the himilayahs makes MUCH more sense. I retract my previous statement, likelyhood of being in Scandinava is nigh-zero.
>>
>>36268182
>>36268228
I much prefer Aladdin having been killed by Jafar when he first retrieved the lamp. Jafar managed to throw him back into the Cave of Wonders before Abu could snatch back the lamp or something.

Of course, your own campaign is your own campaign.
>>
>>36268241
>>36268258
>>36268290

Yes, of course he was sent to the Himalaya and not Scandinavia, but that's still pretty close to canon: why would Jafar sending him to a frozen Arendelle be any more suspension breaking than Jafar sending him to the Himalaya?

Actually, since Arendelle is farther away from Agrabah than the Himalaya, it would be a better move on Jafar's part.

I don't care for Aladdin hanging around with Elsa, but I still don't see it as such an undrealistic idea.
>>
>>36268384
Because that would imply that Arrendelle was somehow already frozen WHILE Jafar was winning.
>>
>>36268439

You could just say that Chernobog's time fuckery was retroactive, but yeah, that's a good point.
>>
>>36268281
I'm getting a suspicious WEST start time again, what's the correct one?
>>
>>36268439
You know, that's a good point. I know hat all our Villains are victorious now in the present, but have we ever discussed in what order the dominoes toppled? Arendelle getting Frozen has to be one of the last, maybe five to ten years before the events of our campaigns.

It's all instant. Shit gets weird if all the princes are aging 40 somethings and that's not DISNEY

>>
>>36268494
Ok. This time it was just an hour off. Thanks.
>>
>>36268487

Atlantis would have to have been brought to the surface roughly twenty years ago, give or take, to give time for Atlantean-Americans to be born and grow old enough to adventure.
>>
>>36268541

Sounds about right.
>>
>>36268487
>>36268541

Idea: fuck the timestream, fuck logic, chernabog did it and it's DISNEY.

Listen to this guy>>36268512. No one wants every villain to be an old, crusty Castro-tier idiot and every prince and princess as an agig 40 year old. That's super far from DISNEY
>>
>>36268579

Villains are immortal and I don't care about princes and princesses: bitches be dead, yo.
>>
>>36268595
We could pass it off as the protection of Walt making the heroes and villains unagig and shit. I like the idea of the PCs unintentionally earning immortality.
>>
>>36268579
Yea, but it's no fun if the villains have had no time to establish themselves. If there's no room for DEEPEST LORE and GRAND INTRIGUE inbetween when the rose and now.
>>
>>36268579
There are some defined things about the timeline, though.

Chernabog won first because otherwise the heroes would win.
Atlantis needs to have emerged from the ocean long enough ago to have allowed kids to grow up, but it doesn't matter because all the heroes and villains of Atlantis are ageless and immortal.
Facilier won long enough ago to expand his shadowlands across the midwest, same with Alameda.
Mulan has been fighting Shan Yu for at least a few years now.

That's all I've got.
>>
>>36268579

I agree that we are going to have to play a bit fast and loose with the timeline here, but there are some bits of flavorful fluff that work a bit better if the Villains have been in charge for a while, like being able to have bright-eyed Atlantean American kids leaving home for the first time, or having Mulan the Undying haunt the Hun Dynasty for decades to centuries, or seeing all Yzma's craziest aspirations for Yzmopolis come true. I'm really not saying that you're wrong or that we shouldn't be aiming for Disney Ideals, but it's forth a little bit of thought.
>>
>>36268620
Okay, let's say some time's passed between the Big Thing That Caused Everything To Happen At Once. After all, Clarisse isn't a baby in the setting and she's Gaston and Belle's daughter, which means she must have had some time to grow up. As for everything happening at the same time, the most common explanation seems to be Chernabog fucking up the universe by sealing away friendship and love. Why he did this, we don't know. I personally think it's because Walt let him control them and he decided the universe wasn't worthy of their power.
>>
>>36268731
>she's Gaston and Belle's daughter
Bastard daughter whose real father is Beast. Sorry, forgot to mention.
>>
>>36268731
BECAUSE HE'S CHERNOBOG!

Chernabog is Satan, and Satan was a fallen angel. I see no problems in having some aspects of Chernabog's history reflect that.

Sverd here, back home from doing shit. Just looking at the last bit of the thread, can I say that I really like this idea: >>36268617

The thought of Chernabog/Walt making all the heroes and villains unaging in any form solves so many timestream and age problems, and the thought of PCs earning a spot as immortal legends by defeating Chernabog and doing whatever they've set up their characters to do in their Happily Ever After by the grace of Walt afterwards is prime DISNEY AS FUCK.

In other news, songs?
>>
>>36268731
Another problem with this 'Everything happens at once' idea is that it goes against some older fluff like HK building up a massive army over the years and then driving out King John later on.
>>
>>36268797

I like the idea of making heros/villains immortal, that frees up a lot of room to fluff and sets up some cool PC shit. Seconded
>>
>>36268797
As long as we're still able to decree all the heroes are dead and gone.
>>
>>36268792
Still, Walt did confirm IRL that he was Satan. Are we going to go against what the man himself said?
>>36268812
Well, not EVERYTHING happened at once. All the villains achieved their win conditions and then ended up in the same world and timeline. After that happened, Clarisse was born, the Horned King kicked John's sorry arse out of England, Louie worked out how to be a human, the Hunters got together, Yzma built her Sunless Empire, etc.
>>36268829
But we already decided most of the heroes were either dead or MIA. Nobledark, dude.
Although villains being almost immortal, I'm okay with.
>>
>>36268797

Songs are always welcome and encouraged. There have been a few stories but no new songs.

We need to have there be some sort of rough timeline just so that everything isn't happening all at once.
>>
>>36268840

Depending on the rumor mill. The heroes dying was a result of Chernabog coming to power in the first place, after all, so it's a valid reason for waving some of the 'PCs are immortal' stuff.
>>36268852
Well yeah, duh. I don't mean immortal as in 'totally unable to be killed', because they're clearly dead in a lot of rumours, just that they don't age. Maybe they could be functionally immortal after Chernabog is removed from power, Iunno. I just write songs.
>>
>>36268797
I'm almost in favor of it, but across-the-board immortality would have some problems. Mother Gothel would be useless, for example.
>>
Mulan stats, in case anyone's interested;

http://pastebin.com/PQncjc81
>>
>>36268861
The earliest event in the timeline should be the villains winning in their stories. Then they're all in the same world, and the stage is set for all the events we've made up to happen. Cue a few decades of empire building, and we arrive in our setting at present.
>>
>>36268882
Okay, let me clarify that - only the true heroes and villains of Disney are the immortal ones. Not everyone. The immortality bit was waived upon Chernabog coming to power over(?) Walt for whatever reason, so now they're just unaging. The PCs could earn a spot as true heroes and therefore become immortal by defeating Chernabog.
If we're all okay with this, we should probably mention it somewhere on the 1d4chan page, maybe in a 'timeline' section.
>>
>>36268923
I'm okay with this. Now we just need to write an actual timeline
>>
>>36268923
I know it's just the big heroes and villains, but it's still problematic. If none of the big villains age, Gothel has no plot significance whatever. She can just sit in a tower being ageless forever, no reason to go after her.

Still, if the group's in favor of it, the rule sticks.
>>
>>36268970
She's still old and ugly in appearance though because of her actual age, and needs Rapunzel's hair to be physically young. As well as trading it off for whatever she needs to the right people. There aren't any other issues that jump to mind with making villains/heroes unaging as far as I can remember.
>>
I'm actually against the PCs, by and large, being immortal or somehow chosen by Walt to wage war against Cherry Bomb. To me it just feels as if it makes the characters' struggles fated or preordained, which makes their efforts feel to me less about personal choice and responsibility and more about being time what they must do.

In even more against everything happening at once due to CB time-space fuckery, or that somehow all these Villains and their Lands were somehow jammed together into one world in an instant. I feel that it much more impactful and cohesive if the dominoes, like another Anon had said, toppled one by one in a natural progression.

Maybe I'm wrong here, and I definitely respect everyone else's opinions, but those are my thoughts.
>>
>>36268970
I'd rather have the villains becoming immortal their own ways: Frollo turned himself into a lich, while some of the others are immortal thanks to Gothel, who's selling them eternal youth. Discovering this and taking down Gothel could be a terrible strikes against many villains.
>>
>>36269007

No one is arguing that the PCs are immortal or chosen by Walt. I'm actually arguing the exact opposite - by their actions, they would EARN a place as heroes.
>>
>>36268923
I like to think that Chernabog, if we play up the whole Satan angle, was a favoured servant of Walt before he fell. He may or may not have actually fought Walt, or maybe he just sealed away the powers of love and friendship. Either way, one of those things fucked up the timeline. Walt, being a sentimental old sod, can't bring himself to kill his favourite servant, so he's kind of waiting for the world to fix itself. Of course, if one of his other creations is able to persuade him that it's what has to be done, then he'll do it. That's why he currently has power over Walt, and also why the timeline's fucked up.
>>
>>36269027
They should be flat immortal to account for the fact that Rourke would be fucking dead and a ton of other villains would be senior citizens and shit. All of them should be immortal in some form, by the blessing of Walt or other means.
>>
>>36269002
So they stay the same age they were at no matter what, but Gothel can sell the physical youth? I suppose that's alright.
>>36269027
I do agree, if the main villains and heroes are all going to be immortal, they should at least have their own method of getting it rather than Chernobyl just making it so. Atlantean crystals, Yzma's potions, etc.
>>
>>36269053
>rourke
Immortality due to Atlantean crystals.
>>
I vastly prefer everything happening at once and maybe 10-20 years have passed. Ageless is nice and Mother Gothel can sell her potions or wharves to npcs that don't have the same luxury. No 40 year old princesses plz.
>>
>>36269027

I really like this idea.

>>36269053

Rourke has got crystal, man.

And yes, all the Villains should be immortal, but I like the idea of them getting htere through different means: some got immortality through their own efforts, while others are buying it from Gothel.
>>
>>36269053

Rourke wouldn't be dead, seeing as how he has an Atlantean longevity crystal around his neck, and how his movie's place in a potential timeline would be 20 +/- years before the present day.
>>
>>36269053
There are definitely ways that we could keep most of the villains alive.
>Horned King
Whatever he is, he doesn't age.
>Yzma
Mad science keeps her alive.
>Facilier
His Friends are keeping him young.
>Hook
The hold of his ship contains waters retrieved from Neverland. Once a year, he bathes in them, and stays young.
>Hades
Gods don't age.
>Jafar
World's most powerful sorcerer, probably knows a few anti-aging spells
>Ursula
Sea witches don't age.
>Maleficent
The Fae don't age.
>Shan Yu
Maybe he buys potions from Gothel?
>Grimhilde
Has Gothel.
In fact, the only issues are the Beast Kings.
>>
>>36269079
>>36269082

What about Scar, Radcliffe, Elsa, etc - many villains don't have a determined method for being unaging when it's clear they need to be in some way. The PCs being able to become immortal is a really cool idea as well. We should at least have 'Immortality by the will of Walt' as an option for those who don't make their own.
>>
>>36269116
>Elsa
Got me there.
>The Hunters
They buy potions from Grimhilde.
>>
>>36269114

Everything you just said is glorious.
>>
>>36269116
You just have to get creative.
In some cases, it'll have to depend on who they're allied with, for example Radcliffe can buy himself some crystals off of Rourke
Others like Scar you can say are sapping the spirit/life force of his very land, since it got grey and barren since he took over.
>>
>>36269114
But not all of them, and the villains shouldn't really age. Also, the surviving heroes shouldn't age either, and I still think the PCs should be able to gain that shit by being amazing in general.
>>36269116
Brought up a good point, we could just have that kind of immortality for those who don't have other methods.
>>
>>36269116
If we went with the "not everything happened at once" and "villains are not necessarily immortal" Scar and Elsa would not actually have to be. It was suggested earlier that the icing of Arendelle happened not long before the start of the games, so Elsa would probably be in her mid twenties by that logic.

The Lion king doesn't take place at any particular time, so that could have happened whenever.

Radcliffe though... I've got nothing.
>>
>>36269116

Elsa is immortal thanks to the preserving power of ice, while the Beast Kings. . .

No idea.
>>
>>36269147

Hey, that would explain the never ending drought: he's using his Fisher King connection with the land to sapp the life force out of the it.
>>
>>36269116
The Will of Walt would be a good one for just heroes, his last touch of goodness in the world, though you have to prove yourself a hero to earn it.
>>36269114
>>36269173
Howsabout Queen La is to blame? She tried an immortality spell to make her most powerful animal guards last forever, but it set off on a global scale so that the most powerful beasts world-round are ageless.
>>
>>36269116
>Radcliffe
Governor of Virginia is a hereditary title. The current Radcliffe is the fourth to bear that name, and the governorship.
Alternatively, he's a close ally of Rourke, who has access to healing crystals.
>Elsa
Winter has no age.
>Scar, Beast Kings in general
lol no idea.
>>
>>36269116

Any person in power who is not magically immortal can simply have come to power later in the timeline. Nothing says that they all rose to power at the same time.

The events of Frozen, for instance, could only have happened five years before "present day."

>>
>>36269217

>>
>>36269220
He'd be unlikely to steal anything from Atlantis. They're an industrial society strung out along small islands, meaning that they have very few resources but a massive demand for them.

Trade with Atlantis is growing his fortune far more than all THE GOLD the natives had ever could.
>>
>>36269196
Works for me.
So what's the general opinion on there having been a big event that caused all the villains to appear in the same time, just after they won in their own movies? Assume the Disney universe had been going as normal until that point, then some big shit went down that not only dramatically altered the course of history, but caused some areas of the world to effectively time travel into the present. I blame Chernabob's shenanigans.
>>
>>36269196
We could also just do this, bullshit reasons on the couple of villains that don't have a magic method and say the heroes could gain immortality in some form.

Elsa and any sorcerer-king is probably a bad example for being unaging since it's assumed that, as MAGICSHITS they can just stop their aging whenever, however, and assumedly to other people as well. We can safely assume that Sorcerer-Kings and anyone they chose to keep alive are unaging.
>>
>>36269246

He would just need to catch one careless atlantean-american and take his crustal, but yeah, trade is good: it would surely make the situation more complex if the atlanteans saw Radcliffe as an ally.
>>
>>36269252

I really, really don't think that the Villains should just appear into this world.
>>
>>36269252
Okay, allow me to rephrase that:
After each film happened in its own version of the universe, they effectively "skipped" the next few years until the present in the main universe, where they all appeared at once in their respective countries.
>>36269268
Why do the heroes have to be immortal? I think that for the most part, the original Disney heroes shouldn't feature as major characters at all. They'd just steal the spotlight.
>>
>>36269220
Steal? All he did was redistribute the wealth that those greedy savages had hoarded like magpies for years!

>>36269287
Because the thought of a 30+ year old Ryder or Phillip is weird, if the GM chooses to keep them alive.

I can see where you're coming from, though. Looks like people just want for the villains to be immortal/unaging by whatever bullshit methods, but the question still remains on how we'd keep the Beast Kings alive.
>>
>>36269301

>>
>>36269324

>>36269196
>>
>>36269281
Well, they probably didn't JUST appear. There was probably an event that caused it. Besides, it makes more sense for all the villains without their own immortality methods surviving long enough for Grimhilde and Gothel to start selling immortality potions.
>>36269324
I like the suggestion somebody made about Queen La getting a spell fucked up and making all animals above a certain power level - in other words, all Beast Kings - unaging, immune to most diseases and a lot more durable.
>>
>>36269324
>Because the thought of a 30+ year old Ryder or Phillip is weird, if the GM chooses to keep them alive.
Like I said, they shouldn't steal the spotlight. Making them past their primes is a good way to make them less powerful, thus balancing them against the players.
>>
>>36269324

Scar steal life force form the land, that's for sure.

The others should have found their own way.

Maybe Shere Khan and Kaa are keeping themselves alive by feeding on the life force of the animals they eat. They literally devour their souls to stay immortal.
>>
>>36265588
My character in the playtest was a street rat bow and pistol using Nimble Guy. I planned on him being really great in chases, but that didn't happen because we had combat monsters and relatively weak enemies, so there was not much to run from. I didn't know about Agility and Ranged, so I'd change him now. Here's a link:https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1355846/post-your-character-sheets#post-1356337

So basically, for the villains:

>Sorcerer-Kings: Fucking ridiculously powerful magic. All of them can probably keep themselves and anyone they want alive forever.

>Human Kings: Case-by-case. Some of them have methods (Rourke), some of them (Slim) we have no fucking clue.

>God-Kings: Well gee I wonder

>Beast Kings: Case-by-case, stealing life force from the land? Seeping magic? Stealing souls?
>>
>>36269374
That'd be super dark, though.
>>
>>36269358

But not every villain necessarily NEEDS to be immortal. The only ones that need immortality would be the oldest ones. The events needed to put Elsa, the Beast Kings, the Hunters, Alameda Slim and so forth in power could have just happened recently in the chronology. Just because the DVV world is rotten doesn't had to mean it went rotten all at once.
>>
>>36269403
Yes, and?
>>
>>36269403

Oh geez, oh no, how will this setting survive this kind of darkness?

>>36269397

Slim is between Facilier and Radcliffe, which means that one of them has probably got him his immortality.

Friends or crystals, is the only question.

I'd say crystals.
>>
>>36269412
It does seem like it'd be a lot easier if we made all the villains come into the world at once. Gives the setting even more of a "things have gone horribly horribly wrong" vibe, and it saves us from having to come up with how the hell civilisation was able to advance when all the successful rulers throughout history were evil dictators, not to mention how they all stayed alive until Gothel started selling immortality potions or whatever.
>>
>>36269432
Either that, or both Radcliffe and Slim are trading with the Eurofags, since I don't see Rourke sharing his crystals with anyone. And when I say they're both trading, I mean Radcliffe is trading and Slim is raiding him and stealing his shit.
>>
>>36269447
Oh, and why most of Europe is still in the medieval period when America advanced to at least the early 20th century, and then further thanks to magitech.
>>
>>36269477

Rourke is an entrepreneur: keeping those two guys alive would be just the kind of savy strategical decision that he would take to consolidate his power even more.
>>
>>36269447

It may be easier, but it is necessarily better? I don't feel that we shouldn't try to make this a cohesive and "natural" setting because reconciling the timeline might take some hard thinking and creativity.
>>
>>36269397
Villain-by-villain determined methods of immortality:

Sorcerer-Sultan Jafar of Agrabah
>Incredibly powerful desert magic and powers. Unquestionably immortal, so is everyone else he wants.
Maleficent the Faerie Queen
>A fucking dragon. A magic dragon.
Grimhilde the Fair Queen of the Mirror Kingdom
>Magic gives her eternal life as long as she's fairest of them all.
The Horned King of Prydain
>A skeleton.
Doctor Facilier of the Shadowlands
>Deals with the Friends.
Queen La of the Leopard Kingdom
>Jungle magic and shit. All her court is probably still alive too.
Elsa the Frozen Queen of Arendelle
>Winter magic, doesn't age past probably 21. Uncertain of how well that'd apply to other people, but it can probably be done.
Empress Yzma of the Sunless Empire
>Fucking SCIENCE. Kronk is most certainly still alive and well too as a result of her mad science experiments, undoubtedly her and anyone she chooses is immortal.
Pontifex Immortalis Frollo of the Grand Archdiocese
>A skeleton.
Tzekel-Kan of El Dorado
>Gods keep him alive through sacrifice and prayer.
Shan-Yu of the Hun Dynasty
>Unknown, maybe fucking around with ancestor spirits
Governor Radcliffe of Virginia
>Not immortal. Has a dynasty of identical-looking children.
Imperial President Lyle Tiberius Rourke of the Imperial Republic of Atlantis
>Crystals keep him and everyone else he wants alive. Maybe trades them.
Alameda Slim, Sheriff of the Old West
>Who knows?
McLeah, Clayton and Gaston of the Elite Global Huntsman Club
>????? Crystals?

Not even gonna bring up Gods. This should be obvious. Also, people can steal souls from Hades and stuff them back into bodies if they're determined enough.

Scar, High King of the Pridelands
>Something evil. Probably stealing souls or something
>Unsure about every single other beast lord
>>
>>36269512
Just as well, while atlantis can function well for an empire of conclaves and coasts, but owning an inland empire would be a massive expenditure of resources, labour, and administrative power, things that Atlantis tends to have precious little of, save for ultra-tech and crystals.
>>
>>36269522
It wouldn't BE "natural" though, because nothing feels natural about a world that's a patchwork of different time periods unless it IS a patchwork of different time periods. Seriously, we have medieval Paris within a relatively short distance of ancient Greece. How is that natural by any definition?
>>
>>36269477
>Slim
>Raiding Virginia
>With the entirety of the Shadowlands in the way
>>
>>36269494

One though was that, since Europe has some of the oldest Villains, they would want to keep things nice and simple within their domains, cherry picking the innovations they supported and the ones they outlawed. Thisenjnnivstedsnand inventors are the ones who went out and colonized the Americas and Australia, causing the technological disparity we see.

But he would only need to give them the crystals and then tell them that he can turn them off whenever he wants.

This way he gets two powerful allies and trade partners without having to expend any important resource.

That map is fucking daunting.

I know some contrivances would need to be made, that's for sure, which is why it might feel "natural" rather than actually being natural. Maybe I'm letting my own personal feelings cloud my understanding of this matter, but we can all say that opinions are strong here I guess.

I personally feel the world would feel like it made more sense if we actually had a reason why every area's in a different time period, but that might just be me.

Ah, but there's also the fact that Radcliffe and Rourke would likely dislike each other as they both are intensely nationalistic for different reasons. While Rourke manifests patriorism and jingoism, Radcliffe manifests pride, greed, and xenophobia. They're quite at odds for other reasons as well. While Atlantis works with small, highly skilled, technologically masterful groups, Virginia likely uses large militias and irregular forces, probably in a mixture of mass-action and terrain-based geurilla warfare.
While Virginia uses massive amounts of resources and metals, Atlantis bases itself around superior tech.

Really, for how similar they seem at first glance, they're quite different.

They don't need to be similar, they just need to trade with each other. They would be partners, not part of the same nation.

We could try to figure out a reason that feels right, but I think I may stop debating now, as I really don't want to step on any more toes or irritate anyone. I've really been glad to work with you all on this project and don't want to cause unnecessary tension.

Also: new thread?

I like it. The conflict would make things interesting if players were trapped in the middle.

New thread. Threadstarter?
Also, if not debating, we should certainly think of a reason. I personally think we should straight away outlaw history just progressing as normal as a reason, because otherwise this scenario makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. As has been mentioned, Ancient Greece ruled by an evil god and medieval Paris ruled by a xenophobic religious fanatic, and for some reason neither conquered the other or advanced at all?

Yeah, there should have been time fuckery at work here, it's just that it all happened twenty years ago and now some things are moving.

Exactly. 20 years ago, shit went down and Chernabog altered history then caused a time skip in certain parts of the world, so they all appeared in the present at the same time. Now, after 20 years in the calendar of A(?) (After [first letter of whatever we're calling our big world-changing event]), the world has been rebuilt, but it is horribly flawed, and if not fixed soon, it may remain that way forever.

But that means that he and Jasmine only met once, which takes away from the story. I would rather Aladdin be banished, imprisoned, or killed by Jafar when he gains his sorcerer powers. Also, if he's imprisoned, I'd like the idea of him being locked away in stasis or something and used as leverage to control Jasmine.

It's also possible that the Spring Sprite isn't dead, but instead so dispersed that the Aurora can't find her again. This could add for a mission where the players find her ashes, while trying to keep the Firegird from waking up.

Ok, gonna try my hand at some writefaggotry to detail the Republic a bit. I've not done this on /tg/ before, so please be gentle.

My dearest Sylvia,
I suppose I've put this off for long enough, Thomas had always told me that I should do something in lieu of a funeral, or, whatever event would be proper for this separation. It's been five years since I last held you and little Jackie in my arms. Five years since that damned expedition went beneath the atlantic waves, never knowing they'd not see the shores of home again.

We all knew there was a risk that we wouldn't come back. After all, the technology was unreliable and any employer hiring as many mercs as Whitmore did was expecting trouble. Still, we thought it worth a good trade with how much he promised. I know I promised you that the risks were minimal, but you were right, god you were right.

It was bad enough after the sub went down after being attacked by that monster... Leviathan I think Thatch called it. The expedition I promised you was safe claimed all but a few dozen of the 200-strong crew. Despite our misgivings about Rourke (and we all had them, even way before he started styling himself "Imperial President"), I can't say there was a man among us who didn't find themselves moved by his words after we'd lost so much.

The journey we took to make it to the city claimed even more of us, not only to the volatile geography, but also to strange creatures and other obstacles that littered the way. Most gave up on any idea of being able to get back home. We took things a step at a time, moving forward only thanks to Rourke holding us together, and having no other way to go. The force that made it to Atlantis was tired, angry, and desperate for anything that would make it all worth while, something to justify the sacrifice. We were desperate, and while that doesn't make what happened next right, I just hope you understand.
