You are Reinhold, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

The only issue at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.

It looks like your plans are going pretty well so far... Sir Gregory gave you the okay to bring Emilio and Karel over to his house later today, and also informed you that the big lake trip will be tomorrow.

It's way earlier than you were expecting, but at least Marianne seems to be doing better today as far as her health goes...

>Congratulations, Reinhold is now a fearsome DIRE WOLF!
>Much larger than their the other types of wolf, the Dire Wolf's size also means that they are also that much more dangerous.
>The Princess considers you to be her dear friend!
>But while dire wolves are massive, they still don't -quite- stand on the same level as people.

>"Good morning." Marianne says rather unenthusiastically. "It looks like you're certainly in a good mood..."

"...huh, do I?" you reply, raising an eyebrow. "And here I was going for 'fearless' or 'intimidating'..." you sigh.
"Sure you were," Marianne rolls her eyes.
"Anyways, are you feeling any better today?

Her actually bothering to come down here doesn't mean that she's not still about to fall out, after all.

"Yes, I'm fine," Marianne says.

And then a fit of coughing immediately proves her a liar.

"...I'm fine enough to attend to the day's activities, always," the Princess mumbles.
"You sure?" you ask. "Because I doubt your father would mind if you decided to-"
"Yes," she cuts you off, "I'm sure. Now let's take our seats before I end up fainting from hunger."

With your worries somewhat alleviated, you follow the Princes into the dining hall and take your usual seats at the table.

The sooner she knows about the trip, the sooner she'll be able to accept it and stop complaining about it. You hope.

"...what?" Marianne turns to you. "If you have something to say to me, just get it over with already."
"Umm, yeah," you nod. "About that trip to the lake... I talked to Sir Gregory about it this morning and he told me that we'll be going out there tomorrow."

That sounds about right.

"At least Luciana is coming along... though she'll probably want to stick to you the entire time," the Princess sulks.

After Marianne finishes eating, Melanie approaches the Princess and they go on for a short while about her plans for tomorrow. What she plans on wearing on the trip, what if any food she'd like them to bring... it's a lot of things that don't particularly concern you so you kind of zone out after a while.

ONe thing that does catch your attention is a VERY stern warning from the bespectacled maid concerning Marianne's health. After triplechecking that the Princess does indeed hear what she's telling her, Melanie repeats what she told you earlier today about how the King has authorized the use of force when it comes to making sure that Marianne doesn't overdo it today.

She doesn't seem at all happy to hear that.

Seeing as how you don't really have anything to say (and also because it's pretty clear that both Sir Gregory and Marianne want to get done with this already), you keep quiet and let the knight speak.

Today's lecture is about economical... things, the specifics of which go right over your head. You are able to get the overall gist though, that being that Celestino's reopening of the borders has had a massive positive effect on trade in not just Marconetti but Granache as well. You're pretty surprised to hear that, considering that said reopening is supposed to be on a limited basis... and also because it's only been like a day since they've been reopened.

Word must travel quicker than you expected.

With the lecture over with, you and Marianne get up from your seats and start towards the door... but then you remember what Citrine told you yesterday.

Hey, we're past 150 replies, arch! You can end the thread and go to sleep now.

Nah, I still have two hours left in me.

"Oh yeah," you turn around just before you're about to walk out the door. "While we were on the subject of the borders being reopened..."
"What now?" Marianne grumbles, clearly not happy about her teatime being delayed in any way.
"You better hurry up with whatever it is that you wanted to say before Marianne decides to kill you," Sir Gregory says. "Or maybe she'll just cough on you until you end up sick with whatever the hell she has."
"Maybe I should cough on -you-," Marianne says, glaring at him.

Hahahahaha better get to the point before they start fighting.

"I ran into my sister yesterday night," you begin, ignoring both of their comments, "and she said that my grandmother sent her a letter saying that she'll be taking advantage of the borders being opened to come over and visit for a while."
"Your..." Sir Gregory stares at you. "Y- you mean Agnes!?"

>[1/?]

>>36072978
Was that a fucking stutter?!
Did we make the Red Mist stutter?!?!?

I'm going to kill someone if anything happen that slow down Karel and Ariane's little conversation.

>>36072978
>asking that to the orphan

Bad, Gregory. Bad.
>>
>>36072978

Marianne seems to be VERY amused by the total crack in Sir Gregory's persona just now.

"Yeah," you nod. "I just thought that you'd like to know about it beforehand."
"Uh, yeah," Sir Gregory replies. "That's good to know... but where's she going to be staying? I mean there's still plenty of room in my place even with five houseguests but I'd still have to clear it with Ariane and-"
"She'll be staying at Citrine's place," you reply. "I think all that stuff's been taken care of already."
"Oh," he sighs.

You're not sure if he's disappointed that she won't be staying with them or relieved that he won't have to make extra arrangements.

Rein and Citrine have real grandparent's out there who have know idea what happened to them.
>>
>>36073109
We know Gregory hated his father and latched onto Arnaud, but if he had a difficult relationship with his mother then the way he clings to Agnes is kinda sweet too.

ArnaudxAgnes is never gonna happen but it would be worrth it just for his face. And the two of them teasing him about it.

"Well, uh..." Sir Gregory scratches his head, "thanks for the heads-up."
"no problem," you reply.

And with that, you follow Marianne out of the room before she gets -too- annoyed with you.

But judging from the way that she's looking at you while the two of you head to the courtyard, it might be too late for that.

"Reinhold," Marianne says without bothering to look at you.
"Hm?"
"When exactly were you planning on telling me that your grandmother was planning on coming here?" she asks.

Either of these is fine.

At the picnic could've been a reasonable time as well since we invited Citrine, and it'd be nice to have been able to tell everyone with both of us there. She's as much Citrine's grandma as she is ours, and Agnes is staying with them.

It'd have left Arnaud out of the loop, but maybe we didn't think it was something worth mentioning, grumble grumble.

Arnaud is our Obi-Wan in how he hides things from us, except we'll die long before him.

Window-viewer dropping by, has Reinhold gotten good at not falling flat in comparison to others yet?
>>
>>36073325
Can we leave Arnaud out of the loop?
I mean even if we genuinely attempted, could Reinhold actually do it?
>>
>>36073392
He kicked a lot of ass when Marconetti's castle was attacked.
>>
>>36073392
He's respectable compared to friends his age, fighter/caster dichotomy asides (and mages have their own limitations, mainly mana). And the only swordsmen better than him in the castle are monsters like Gregory and Arnaud.

And anytime there's action he does more than his share.

Monique is away and we're more or less on neutral terms with him now.
>>
"Sorry about that," you say, turning to the Princess. "I could claim that I just keeping it to myself until I could see Sir Gregory's reaction, but the truth is that I have a bunch of stuff on my mind right now so I kind of forgot."
"...that sounds like you," Marianne sighs. "I wish you would have told me about -that- this morning instead of informing me about that stupid lake trip at your first opportunity."

You can't really blame her for being annoyed with you, it stands to reason that she'd rather hear about grandma visits than about something that is nothing but a nuisance to her.

>>36073511

Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention over the last like 40 threads, but why is everyone we talk to varying degrees of pissed at us?
>>
>>36073649
Maybe we smell(?)
Some of them I understand, we've done some dumb stuff here and there.
>>
>>36073649
Marianne is pissed because we turned one of her joke into a picnic invitation for half of the cast.

Karel is VERY pissed because we pressured her into confiding to Ariane that she's a girl in a few hours.

Sylvie, her mother and one of her sisters are still mildly butthurt about Sylvie losing the waifu war.

That's about it, pretty much everyone else love us.

Reinhold's initial charm wore off and now all thats left is his annoying behaviors.

Upon reaching the courtyard, you step through first to make sure that it's not too cold. She seems to be rather annoyed by this, but she's pretty lightly-dressed as it is and you're not about to let her go out in the cold and risk getting her even more sick than she already is.

Fortunately, the temperature is just fine.

"So," Marianne says to you as she makes her way to the table, "is there any other important news that you've forgotten to inform me about?"
"Uh..." you pull out a chair for Marianne to sit down on. "I don't think so?"

But then you remember a thing!

"Oh," you snap your fingers. "Citrine's going to be coming with us to the lake. And maybe my grandmother if she's around?"
"Just great," Marianne sighs. "And I suppose you've informed your sister that we'll be going there tomorrow morning?"

...yeah, that's kind of a large thing to forget.

"Informed who about what now?" Arnaud asks as he walks through the door carrying a teaset in one hand.
"Reinhold's having problems with telling people things that they should know, that's all," Marianne replies.
"I see," he nods. "Perhaps I could help with that?"

I'd like it if we could continue PGQ threads until we get to Karel and Ariane having The Talk, but eh.

What's Karel's state of mind right now?

What time is it?

Does Gregory got any way to quickly inform Ariane about their guests?

Pantsu Getter?

Do Granache knighthoods come from one big, defining badass moment or from a general, sustained life of badassery?
If the former, what were Arnaud, Greg and Vincent's biggest badass moments?

>>36073923
We thought the picnic would be ruined by Leviathans but the REAL monster was Reinhold's organizational skills all along!

maybe

>I'd like it if we could continue PGQ threads until we get to Karel and Ariane having The Talk, but eh.
I get how you feel but that'd probably end up being about two threads from now.

>What's Karel's state of mind right now?
She's extremely agitated right now, as well as nervous as FUCK.

>What time is it?
11-ish.

>Does Gregory got any way to quickly inform Ariane about their guests?
He could straight-up fly home and tell her himself if he really wanted, it'd only take a few minutes to do so.
But with that said, he isn't going to bother doing so. Surprises are more fun.

>>36073946
>Pantsu Getter?
lolno

>Do Granache knighthoods come from one big, defining badass moment or from a general, sustained life of badassery?
It depends on the individual case. Some folks get to show off to the King and he'll be all "fuck yeah you a knight now" while others end up accumulating low-key badassery over a long period until they finally get recognized. The latter is what Nicolette's currently planning on.

>If the former, what were Arnaud, Greg and Vincent's biggest badass moments?
too tired to answer that now, ask again later

And now I go and pass out. Thanks for playing!
