Welcome to the VI installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."

Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole.

It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous queens like Maleficent and mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog, pictured here.

It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.

What monsters would we have?
Hydras, Sharkanians, Sand Sharks, Monstro, the Krakken, Ceto, rogue Gwythaints, Echidna's Children, Dinosaurs, Maleficent's Goons, Chernabog's Minions, etcetera
>>
>>36045548
The Friends or the Shadow Demons are a must-have for monsters. We need Elsa's Snolems as well.
>>
>>36045548
Monsters would just be based on the land they're in. Black Louisiana has the Friends everywhere while Scotland would only be home to Mor'du the bear
>>
>>36045603
>While Scotland would only be home to Mor'du the bear
Maybe Mor'du's presence has made other animals more aggressive or stronger due to magic or something? If you think he qualifies as a King, then it's possible. Although not really a King, since he doesn't even know he rules anything because he's a bear.
>>
>We have been at it for like three days and we have six threads and loads of content already

/tg/, I love you. Will you marry me?

Anyway, quoting back from the last thread, concerning skill monkeys and Smart Guys™

>Skillmonkeys should affect things other than mooks, then.

Make the guy crash ceilings and reverse traps. Make him ricochet his arrow three times in three different points to hit THAT ONE switch just out of reach.

As for the smart guys, I feel like they should be the main anti-magical-bullshitters. They know which symbol is the one that you got in Black Louisiana and how to pay back the Friend. They know what that tree's real name is, and will use it to stop a batallion by crashing it down. THEY know what is the antidote for the poison that has been destroying the village. Etc

>Aditionaly, think of it like this. The smart guys can find weak points in things they haven't seen before based on previous patterns. That one building is like those back home, which means they have a main standing stone, or that catapult probably has a weak link, the BBEG's armor doesn't cover his crotch properly, etc
>>
How is currency and merchants going to work? Does equipment and gear carry over to different kingdoms or do you exchange your old gear for that kingdoms version of your gear?
>>
>>36045681
Well, that'd be a bitch for the guy with the really expensive Atlantis energy rifle when he has to swap it for a shitty crossbow, so I'd assume that there's some kind of universal currency among humans. Among animals, the currency is "I won't eat you", unless you're in the Pridelands where the currency is water. Oh, and in the Shadowlands the currency is whatever the Friends want, and often souls.
>>
>>36045726

Well, as has been said on the other thread, sometimes you might want the crossbow instead of your bazooka. Running around Froll'os France firing off blue energy lasers is going to bring the Inquisition down on your ass faster than his boner on Esmeralda's
>>
>>36045726
Only some Friends want souls, the powerful ones who work with Facilier. The weaker Friends are willing to trade in little things they enjoy, like one might just want a drink while another wants a nice flower
>>
>>36045764
True. Still, if I have this gun, I don't want it to get taken away because I went to France.
>>
>>36045786

[Insert joke about gun laws in Europe here]
>>
>>36045786
Then stay hidden from the Inquisition and don't use it unless you're planning on taking them down.
>>
>>36045778

If I'm not mistaken, the original idea was to base it on some voodoo things.

One of them might want tobacco, other one a pint of a good drink. The other one might be a sewing enthusiast.

I'm just really happy with how Black Louisiana is turning out, it's my favorite so far.

Anyway, last thread I think it was agreed that we should go with "Disney as Fuck" as our building motto. I agree.
>>
>>36045681
>>36045726
I would imagine you can carry gear over, but it might attract attention in stricter realms. Carrying around an electric crystal raygun would be perfectly fine in, say, the Pridelands, but if you want to take it into Frollo's France you're going to have to figure out a way to hide it.
>>
>>36045816
>stay hidden from the Inquisition
I thought this was a given?
>don't use it unless you're planning on taking them down.
Why else would you be in Frollo's France? It's not the most pleasant holiday destination.
>>36045849
If you took it to the Elite Hunters' Club Headquarters in Australia, they'd probably admire you for having a bigger gun than any of them.
>>
>>36045893

You are not going to take down PONTIFEX IMMORTALIS in one afternoon, sparky. That's what they mean, you gotta conceal yourself while you build up the powder barrel. Once the rebellion really starts, THEN the lasers come out. Before that, and you'll just ruin everything
>>
Let this be a reminder that /tg/ gets shit done.
>>
>>36045936
Don't celebrate yet, we're halfway done at most. Probably not even that.
>>
>>36045893
Hell, you might even be able to build some rep with the Hunters by connecting you to whomever hooked you up with one.
>>
>>36045936
We don't have a pdf or a 1d4 page yet, let's not get ahead of ourselves.
>>
Alright, so to remind everybody.

STATS:

POWER (Strenght and Constitution) aka ROBUSTNESS
DEXTERITY
INTELLIGENCE
SENSIBILITY (Perception and Empathy)
CHARISMA
WILL
>>
>>36045982

>Also reposting this:

5 classes: strong guys (Hercules and Li Shang), nimble guys (Robin Hood and Aladdin), smart guys (Milo and Belle), sensible guys (Pocahontas and Esmeralda) and charismatic guys (Peter Pan and Flynn Rider).

This way we get those who like to face their problems with their muscles, with their reflexes, with their mind, with their heart and with their wits.

No class should be based on Will, because eveyone needs Will but Will alone is useless.
>>
Do the Elite Global Hunters do mercenary work? I'd say they do, but they don't view it as hunting. Hunting your own kind is a crime, they say. That's part of why they hate Scar.

If a stronger tier villain walks into a weaker one what happen, like if horned king entered Kaa's domain. would the horned king be affected or would he drag his own rules into the land?

Should we get the locational traits done? I had some ideas - some of them might need maluses as well to make them more equal

>Prydaini: Smog-tolerant - Living in the cauldron-hazed isles has made you more resilient to poison and miasma.
>Land of the Bear: Skulker - Dwelling in the shadow of the demon-bear has made you better at avoiding the attentions of predatory animals
>Dioceses: Not sure. Possibly some religious thing you can use to ward off minor demons and shadow things?
>Fae Lands: Wild Runner - Years of constant awareness and desperately fleeing the capricious whims of the Fair Folk have made you excellent at running like a little bitch cross country and city, making you better at avoiding obstacles whilst running or something like that
>Mirror Kingdom: Supervised Efficiency - The Fair Queen hates slacking, and as such you have become exceptional at making sure everything you do is good and efficient. Not sure of a bonus for this, maybe change it for a stamina drain resilience.
>Sultanate of Agrabah: Wheeler-Dealer - Haggling is practically the national sport of Agrabah, and you have become excellent at getting good prices on whatever you buy or sell. Stuff costs less and sells for a bit more.
>Olympia: Dead Man Walking - Living in the realm of the Lord of Death has rubbed off on you somewhat. Undead beings are less likely to take notice of you, seeing you as one of their own.
>Bald Mountain: Can't think of one. Maybe demons less likely to notice you.
>Arandelle: The Cold Never Bother Me Anyway - More resistant to cold
>>
>>36046261
Some do. Sven certainly understood human, and Kristoff understood animal enough to know what Sven was saying most of the time. Mowgli and Tarzan could have genuine conversations with animals, though, but they were raised by them.

We are keeping Toons mostly out of the setting because toon physics would just break everything. And since the tone is a lot more Nobledark, I'm not sure it would fit properly.

You can find a few toons in certain areas of the world like Slim's Old West, performing in saloons to try and get some laughter going. The world is just too humourless for them so they stick to their own world

How did Facilier get so powerful/so much land? Once he took over New Orleans did he start hiring goosn to do brute force work for him?

What happened to Tiara, Nadim and Lawrence? Are the protags still out in the swamps with Mama Odie in a little safe haven? Is Lawrence still disguised as Nadim somehow, or did Facilier just dispose of him shortly after getting rid of LaBouf?
>>
>>36046479
They're probably subordinates of the Horned King.
>>
>>36046484
Also, when people from Bald Mountain are referring to God, they often just say "Him." Same if they're referring to Cherny himself. It's a habit born from living in Satan's backyard. You mention God, Satan's servants kill you, you mention Satan, he kills you himself.
>>
Okay, so before we go any further.

Last thread we were discussing the more crunchy stuff. If I recall correctly - and I do, because I just found the post - it was something like

>Now, for character creation to be complete (to say nothing of game mastery) we need the following things. Who's willing to work on some of these?

Attributes, total number of and description of;
Skills (not too many but not too few);
Roles; (Combatnant, Skillmonkey, Face, Support)
Talents;
A working combat system?;
Ideals;
Goals;
XP; (can be finished later)

We got number of Attributes, I think.

The "combat" system would be the Three-Strikes one. You can score a "strike" on anything by any means your character excells at; if you are a punchy guy, you can just hit the boss until your strike goes through. If you are a sensitive/emotional, you can speak directly into his emotional and make him hesitant/livid/saddened and it'll count as a strike as well

What else?
>>
>>36046514
>How did Facilier get so powerful/so much land? Once he took over New Orleans did he start hiring goosn to do brute force work for him?

He's friends with the things that live on the Other Side, the place that is unknowable and unfathomable. For the right price he can buy whatever he pleases, including 1/3 of the US
>>
>>36046514
A mixture of hired goons and promising the souls of Luisianans to his Friends on the Other Side in exchange for help. After all, he managed to nab them a prince, so he's earned enough trust that he could probably take out a more hefty line of credit with them.
>>
>>36046514

With his Friends, of course. He gave them a whole town worth of souls, so they just kept the whole thing going.

The Other Side in this canon is the one place you absolutely, desperately, do not want to fuck with. The Friends on the Other Side have powerful magic and creatures at their disposal; those shadow demons that they give Facilier? You could win wars with only a few.
>>
>>36046537
I personally think we should go with the idea of Degrees of strikes. A third-degree strike is equal to three strikes, and basically a crit.
>>
>>36046537

>Putting together stuff from the old thread:

Armor slows you down a bit and makes you get tired faster, while at the same type reducing the hits you take.

Any strike coming from a guy weaker than a certain threshold doesn't count as a strike against guys in armor. This way the knight is FUCKING INVINCIBLE against mooks, while at the same time he can get tossed around like a ragdoll by the dragon that has problems catching the nimble thief.

This could also make classes more different between each other: strong guys could deal damage faster, but they would have to deal with armor, while charismatic and sensible guys would have to focus more on one enemy at the time, but they would bypass any armor they have.
>>
>>36046610
The general work needed to hit an enemy is going to be 3d6+skill used + Attribute used versus 3d6+attribute used to defend+3 unless they're important enough to merit their own skills to attack/defend with.
>>
>>36046586

I think that strikes themselves should be immune to crits. After all, once you get Three Strikes on you have basically won already, you just need to give the opponent a little push. It would be too easy if you could crit that.

If you crit, you might knock up your action to complete a full strike on the spot, but I think it should stop there
>>
>>36046537
Striking by emotional/sensitive means would require that you know what makes him tick; what his hopes are, what his dreams are, what his fears are. Makes proper intelligence-gathering before a confrontation even more vital.
>>
>>36046514
>What happened to Tiara, Nadim and Lawrence? Are the protags still out in the swamps with Mama Odie in a little safe haven? Is Lawrence still disguised as Nadim somehow, or did Facilier just dispose of him shortly after getting rid of LaBouf?

Lawrence is gone, but there's good news: Facilier's plans never involved killing Tiana or Nadim, and he seemed perfectly content to let them spend the rest of their lives as slimy little frogs. Nor did he care if his curse was ever broken. He let them go because as far as he was concerned, it was a better use of his time to enjoy his newfound gains.

Out in the bayou, in this tragedy stricken-world, they got a little happy ending.
>>
>>36046652

Exactly. It also gives the characters specializing in Sensibility and such other Disney-tier shit as effective as the punchy guy, maybe even more so since you don't have to go through armor.
>>
>>36046610
I think that Armour decides how high you have to roll when you roll damage. Armour+Power/ROBUSTNESS! is the damage DC.
>>36046647
I didn't literally mean there are crits. I don't even think there ARE crits. It just means that it takes out all three of your strikes in one go. Armour makes it more difficult for this to happen.
>>
>>36046669
Doesn't the nature of the curse mean that both would have turned back into humans though? Because when Tiara marries Naveen, that makes her a princess, which is the condition for the kiss needed to break the spell.

Maybe Tiara, Naveen, Mama Odie and Louis all went back to Maldonia?
>>
>>36046645

I'd say:

Attribute + Skill + an eventual Talent + 3d6, against Attribute + Skill + an eventual Talent + 3d6, except against mooks who don't roll and just add 3 to the rest.

If you hit you deal one strike, or more than one if you hit with a very, very wide margine.

If your target has armor he gets a malus to his defense against phisycal attacks, but he also downgrades every hit he takes by one strike. He's easier to touch, but harder to damage.
>>
>>36046731
>Doesn't the nature of the curse mean that both would have turned back into humans though? Because when Tiara marries Naveen, that makes her a princess, which is the condition for the kiss needed to break the spell.
That's what I'm saying: Facilier doesn't kill them, and his success doesn't prevent the wedding, so the curse is still broken.

>Maybe Tiara, Naveen, Mama Odie and Louis all went back to Maldonia?
Where is Maldonia anyways?
>>
>>36046796
>Maldonia
...North Africa?
>>
>>36046759

And very big monsters, or other powerful enemies, automatically deal one or two strikes more with every hit they make, which means armor is not a good defense against them: better dodge the ogre's club.
>>
>>36046796

>I wouldn't say AUTOMATICALLY. That sounds kind of unfair. However, they do have ridiculous damage to the point where you'd need Atlantean Power Armour to stand even the slightest chance.

I don't mean that with every attack they automatically deal damage: I mean that every time they hit and deal one strike, they upgrade that strike to two of three strikes regardless of their margin of success on the hit, so it's better to avoid their attacks than to take with armor. Armor is good against mooks.

Alright people, let's talk Traits.

We have agreed on using general traits for weapons and specialized ones if you REALLY like that one, but what other ones are there?

For example, the "Ranged Weapons" trait would let you fire a pistol, a bow, or a bazooka alright. The specialized "Gunslinger" or "Archer" traits would focus on specific weapons

Do we have anything aside that?

Domains: Chaos, Darkness, Death, Destruction, Evil, Fire. He may use any of the relevant domain powers as a 16th level Cleric, and cast domain spells as quickened Spell-like abilities at caster level 26 (29 for evil and chaos) with DCs of 92+spell level

Divine Salient Abilities: Annihilating Strike, Clearsight, Divine Dodge, Divine Fast Healing, Divine Fire Mastery, Divine Recall, Divine Splendor, Extra Energy Immunity, Frightful Presence, Hand of Death, Improved Damage Reduction, Increased Spell Resistance, Indomitable Strength, Know Death, Know Secrets, Lay Curse, Life Drain, Power of Truth, Rejuvenation, Supreme Initiative, Wave of Chaos

Summon Wickedness (Sp)
Once per night Chernabog can, as a full round action, automatically summon one Dread Wraith with advanced hitdice per every corpse/grave in a 50 mile radius, 10 times his own hitdice in demons and twice his hitdice in fire elementals, with all monsters being under his command.

Satan Is My Bitch
Chernabog is the be all and end all of evil. He cares not for petty things such as 'size penalties' and he laughs at the idea that a superior being such as himself should stoop to using hitdice as puny and worthless as d8s.

Greater Deity: A roll of 1 on a d20 isn't an automatic failure, all dice are considered to have rolled their highest result, and plenty of other nasty stuff.

You've all got internet access, so if you're curious, pop over to the D&D SRD to see exactly what nasty, nasty abilities he has.

>you can't lie to him
>you can't fool him
>you can't hide anything from him
>he knows everything about you, even when you're going to die
>his mere presence is fatal
>he can kill you with a mere thought whenever he pleases

Ah, literally the same at the same time!

Next: Academics, Acrobatics, Athletics (maybe Acrobatics and Athletics should go together) and Sleight of Hand.

>>36047043
Traits like Gunslinger and Archer shouldn't just be "Do more damage with X, Y and Z weapons." That's boring. Instead, why not "You gain +2 armour piercing as long as you aren't seen when wielding a bow or sniper rifle" or "You can fire up to 3 arrows a turn"?

Let me throw up the skills we're going to need, for sure.
Acrobatics, Melee Weapons, Ranged Weapons, Unarmed, Dodge, Deceive, Convince/Negotiate, Disguise, Stealth, Mechanics, Advanced Mechanics/Atlantean Mechanics, Acrobatics, Athletics, Lore, Drive, Sail, Locksmith, Barter, Perceive(sense motive, basically), Sleight of Hand, and Ride. What have we missed?

>>36047201
We're trying to keep this simple to start. Diversify after we've got a solid ground to work with.
>>
>>36047199
Lying
Barter
Rational Argument

maybe?
>>
>>36047201

Yeah, they should all add neat stuff, since if took them it's because you want to use them and remember them.
>>
>>36047206
Definitely languages. Though at the risk of wanking off my chosen land again I think Atlantean would be the Lingua Franca of the new world, or at the very least the resistant types.

Remember that scene when Milo first met Kida and they flipped through a good half dozen languages working their way back to Atlantean?
>>
>>36047225

Already too specific: Bluff and Persuasion should cover everything you can do socially, aside from Intimidate.
>>
>>36047119
>>36047139
Yep, done with D&D. My autism has now been satisfied. But even in our system, it would be good if you all took a peak at what his Divine Salient Powers do. They're not all about power; some of them might be pretty good for a Disney campaign.
>>
Wait wait wait. Should we separate the different skills under what Stat they'll fall in?

Make a list for each Power/Robustness skill, then another one for intelligence, etc?
>>
>>36047255
Bluff=~=Lying
Persuasion=~=Rational Argument
Barter doesn't really fit into either.

>>36047279
Sounds good
>>
>>36047279
We decided not to last thread. Assign whatever skill to whatever stat depending on what you're doing with it. You wouldn't roll Power to flash a sword about to show off, you'd roll Charisma, even if you were using the Melee Weapons skill.
>>
>>36047279
Well one of the things I got from the last thread was that, given the correct situation, and skill could be used with any stat; using charisma and swordplay when you want to impress girls with your moves. Though I will admit, some skills will lend themselves to certain stats far more than others.
>>
>>36047218

Athletics & Acrobatics, Melee, Ranged, Brawl, Dodge, Stealth, Bluff (which is also Disguise, because Disney: put on a fake moustache and bullshit your way out the problem), Persuasion, Academics, Mechanics (which is also Disable Device and all that stuff), Ride&Drive&Sail and Investigate (Perception, Search and Sense Motive).
>>
>>36047290
Barter would be both at the same time.
>>
>>36047321
>Investigate (Perception, Search and Sense Motive)
Investigate implies a long, drawn out study of something. Insight might be the better name for it.
>>
>>36047279

While, as >>36047312
said, some skills will lend themselves to certain stats far more than others, we decide that it would be best to keep them separated: you can add Melee Weapon to ROBUSTNESS, Dexterity and Charisma, or even Sensibility, if you are trying to wedge something open by being clever about it.
>>
>>36047248
I think Atlantean would be a meta-language ability; knowing it allows you to learn any other language stupid fast, within a couple of days at most.
>>
>You get to Arendelle
>Get your ass handed to by the combined efforts of Elsa's Snowlems and Hans' Army as they are stuck in an endless war
>Retreat to a place full of rocks.
>The rocks reveal themselves to be Trolls
>Pabble comes up to you
>"Welcome to Arendelle... What you witnessed before you was because of my warnings falling upon deaf ears. Maybe I should have worded it better, maybe the people I was telling it to should have dug the wax out of their ears... Whoever's fault it is, you and I are dealing with the fallout, and no amount of fixer-uppers will solve that. The least I can do is help you salvage the ruins..."
>>
>>36047307
>>36047312

I see. Alright then.

I like this list >>36047218 but I think we should make some of the more niche ones traits instead. Let's see....

Acrobatics

Melee Weapons
Ranged Weapons
Unarmed Combat

Dodge
Stealth
Disguise

Mechanics
Sailing
Riding

Knowledge (Lore)
Languages
Perceive?
>>
>>36047290

And bows ≠ sling, but they are all Ranged Weapons. We are keeping it short.
>>
>>36047321
We're also going to need some sort of Lore skill for an Intelligence character to just bullshit his way through a mental problem and not feel useless -- or perhaps that should be a role feature?
>>36047376
Drive is key in the Pan-asian cooperative and Atlantis. Should that be a trait or a skill?
>>
>>36047355

Good, Insight is perfect.
>>
>>36047384
No, I was saying bluff and lying are roughly the same thing, as are persuasion and rational argument.
>>
>>36047415
Bluff is not the same as disguise, and Barter needs to be a skill on its own at least for the Shadowlands of Dr. Facilier.
>>
>>36047403
All vehicle operation should fall under one skill. However, you only get to apply that skill if you're somewhat familiar with the controls of that ilk of vehicle.
>>
whenever someone decides to run a game, for the love of all that is good post an announcement thread, I will play the shit out of this
>>
>>36047403

Academics. And Occult as a separate skill, because that's very precious.

>>36047415

Ohhh, ok. Well, ask yourself: would you buy Barter as a skill when you could buy Bluff or Persuasion? I'd just let you use Bluff or Persuasion, depending on how you're trying to barter. Even Intimidate could be good for it.
>>
>>36047430
So something like Ride for animals, Drive for vehicles, and Sail for ships? Cause Atlantean fish-ships put us in a weird place
>>
>>36047428
But no one can see through disguises in Disney, ever, unless it's a plot point. You need no skill to pass in appearance, you just need to act in a way that arouses no suspicion.
>>
>>36047428

>Bluff is not the same as disguise

But it may as well be: Disguise is too specific on his own, and you need Bluff to succesfully pass as someone else. Let's just roll them together.
>>
I think we need to reach a consensus on where to draw the line on what is a skill and what warrants a trait.
>>
>>36047441
I think there should be a Knowledge skill with specializations in things like history and magic and other stuff just to cover the smart guys area
>>
>>36047441
Maybe Barter could be a more specific trait?
>>36047463
Same for this. Having Disguise improves your Bluff when wearing a costume and pretending to be someone else.
>>
>>36047459

Exactly: Bluff should cover Disguise.

>>36047454

I'd put Ride&Drive&Sail all under one Skill: you just need to rely on common sense and backgrounds during the game.
>>
>>36047367
>One of the Arndelle minibosses is the animated statue of Anna, instilled with a faux personality of the real Anna ala olaf, but due to their seperation and Elsas isolation, she only has a rough immiation of Annas personality
>>
>>36046260
This map isn't very colorblind bro friendly.
>>
>>36047498
I did not think I would feel this feel from the description of a miniboss.
>>
>>36047498
>You get to befriend her and have her join as an ally ala Noh
>>
Okay, here's a thought everyone: let's do what Legends of the Wulin did, and keep the skill list short, BUT give the option of buying cheap undefined specialties for any skill, allowing you to focus on any skill imaginable.
>>
>>36047470
Skills should be general while traits are more specific. Like you would have an Academic skill with traits in Magical Knowledge or History.
>>
>>36047485

I'd say Academis and Occult, and then Traits if you want to be very specific.

>>36047487

Yes: exactly: you can do it with your Skills, unless Barter or Disguise are something very significative for your character, in which case Trait.

Let's just not fall into the Feat trap: Traits should only add something special, not be the only viable way to build a certain character.
>>
>>36047498
>The other minibosses on Hans side is the duke of weasltown, who dies from a single shot.
>>
>>36047523
>>36047470
I think a trait would be the application of a skill, where a skill can't really be applied as it is, so 'mechanic' is a skill because you can't mechanic something, but 'mechanic (vehicle)' would be, because that specifically applies to vehicles
>>
>>36047521
>>36047523

Ver few Skills, then Traits. Melee for everything, then Swords if you're a knight. Ranged for everything, then Gunslinger if you come from the Wild West and are know for how good you are with a Colt.
>>
>>36047498
>>36047540

Okay, we have already agreed that Elsa is isolated and alone in Arrendelle, but I'll admit that this is pretty cool. And feelsy.

Melee, Ranged, Brawl, Dodge,
Stealth, Sleight of Hand
Bluff, Persuasion, Intimidate,
Academics, Science, Occult, Mechanics, Linguistics
Ride&Drive&Sail
Insight

>weaseltown
The place is called Weselton.

http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Weselton
>>
Should we have a skill solely for conversation in order to include stuff like bluff, banter, barguain, etc? Or is that dumb?
>>
>>36047606
What is covered by Academics?
>>
>>36047606
Sleight of Hand might be too specific for a skill, and Acrobatics and Athletics could probably be folded into one.
>>
>>36047360
That's a great idea.
>>
>>36047613
Ooohhh....I thought you were saying that Hans was in 'Weaseltown' on account of Elsa knowing that he's a treacherous little snot.
>>
>>36047615

I think Bluff, Intimidate and Persuasion can cover everything conversation related, but all in one would be too much.

>Ride&Drive&Sail

Maybe we could call it Traveling?

>>36047626

History, Politics, Philosphy, Theology, stuff like that.
>>
>>36047626

EVERYTHING

Seriously though, I'm assuming it would be general knowledge about geography, rites, magic.
>>
>>36047626
Anything you'd be able to claim expertise on in a Disney movie because "I'm a doctor/scientist/professor" but that lacks actual, practical utility in day to day life.
>>
>>36047630

Sleight of Hand would

>>36047657

Magic should fall under Occult, because it's a pretty big deal and should be on his own. Then Science is pretty clear and Mechanics is the practical side of things.
>>
>>36047665

Sounds like Disney, alright
>>
Skill Idea: Invention, for mad-scientist heroes, covering the cobbling together of handy gadgets out of random scrap and household chemicals.

>>36047684

I had a idea for a way for players to fast travel.

>When judge doom finally won, killing that meddlesome Private eye and sending the rabbit running, Judge Doom quickly set to work

>And by god, he did not lie, it was glourious. Stretching across every state, every nation, every country, are the DOOM .inc roads. Quick, safe and most of all efficient, they allow for quick and polite travel through some of the worst nations. They cut travels that would last weeks and kill hundreds down to a few days.

>But unfortunately, its not perfect. By the same reason they are resistant to the rule of the kings, they are prone to mislead and trick and even spit people out in entirely different nations or continent's . The reason behind this is due to the Toon asphalt used in construction, is actually the melted and recycled remains of ToonTown. Angry at being wronged, they will continue to put travelers lives in danger until justice is done, and the good Judge is dead
>>
>>36047676

Sleight of Hand would cover getting out of manacles, stealing, hiding stuff up your sleeves and prestidigitation. Sounds pretty good to me. And Acrobatics and Athletics could probably go together, yeah, but the big guy that breaks down the door and the nimble guy that climbs to the window are usually distinct from one another.
>>
>>36047630
The ability to twist and turn in midair like a pretzel is highly different than the ability to run/swim a mile. Remember that in D&D terms, Acrobatics would also include Escape Artist.

>>36047676
I feel like Locksmithing is a bit too specialist of a skill, but should Mechanics really include clockworks, lockpicking, engineering, AND driving all kinds of vehicles? seems almost too generic.
>>
>>36047726

Nah, driving should be Traveling: Riding, Driving and Sailing, all in one. Mechanics is building vehicles, but not driving them.
>>
Are we going to have any sort of skill synergy, where buying up one skill makes it easier to buy other related skills?

>Science and Mechanics: knowing the theory makes the practical a bit easier to understand, and vice versa.
>Melee and Brawling: tactics and footwork are about the same, and the blow that gets you is always the one you don't see coming.
>Bluff and Persuasion: lying is so much easier when you can come up with really good reasoning behind it.
>Occult and Linguistics: Dead languages. 'Nuff said.
>>
>>36047742

Oh, and Traveling could cover Survival: you know how to ride a horse, but you also know how to walk across the land and feed on berries.
>>
Can we get a pastebin up telling us what's the current story for the settings?
>>
Do we have like ten new people in this thread now, or am I just trippin'?
>>
>>36047769

They could default to each other: Brawling is Melle - 4 and Bluff is Persuasion - 4, and the other way around.
>>
Could be that we're attracting some attention. We're on thread six now, so the backlog is getting a bit on the long side.
>>
>>36047800
We're not exactly agreed on all the details ourselves.

Some guys say Taran and Meridia are dead, and Arthur sleeps in the mountain.

Me? I like to think that they're not only alive and well, but all grown up and hiding out in the Kingdom of the Bear, plotting the downfall of the Horned King.
>>
We should also add Music and Crafting, now that I think about it.
>>
>>36046311
Louisiana- Past experience has taught you exactly the price of things.
>>
>>36047842
>Kingdom of the Bear

>>36047828

>>
>>36047842

I agree: they should be putting up a resistance. Maybe Merlin should be out, but still trapped somewhere, ready to be freed.
>>
I think that "Riding" should be divided into two different skills

Riding (Animals) For horses, llamas, oxes, dinosaurs and shit

and

Riding (Vehicles) For boats, cars, that stuff.

I feel like it'd save us a lot of trouble

>>36047882
I think in some earlier thread there was the idea of how this whole setting came about was that Merlin tried helping all the heroes in his own way and in return MMM helped the villains in much more major ways, causing them to win in the end.
>>
>>36047920
Don't forget that Driving should also cover sailing.

Now that we've sort of generally decided on skills, how are they going to work? Should we just give them a rating between 1 and 6, allowing you to increase them one step at a time and be done with it?

Should we get some 'character examples' up for each background?

Damn. I knew I forgot something.

>>36047842

I think it's better if they're dead or otherwise absent from the setting, e.g. someone mentioned Merlin being sealed away. I don't think any of the true heroes (asides from Mulan, who's a grey area and Bagheera who's too cool) should be alive/awake, makes it that much grimmer, allows for our own original characters that better fit the setting and sets the villains as a serious threat.
>>
>>36047875

>>
>>36047984
We'll do it later, once we've actually got enough to be declared a proper homebrew. So essentially; hold that thought, we'll get to it later and do it when all we need to fix is grammar.
The movies we aren't using: Toy Story (too small to effect anything), Treasure Planet (Not even set on earth). But what about POTC? Should we have Tortuga be a sort of 'free state' with a chunk of the Atlantic carved out by Davy Jones?
>>
>>36047972
A rebellion is a prime place for PCs, though, and some of the heroes having survived serves as a single foot in the door for good to strike back.
>>
>>36047972

I don't know, I think that the players should have something to look forward in the short run: some allies to find, someone to rely upon for information and equipment. Knowing that a merry band of anthropomorphic animals are still fighting the good fight would really help the players, giving them something to talk about: do we go find them? Can they be trusted? And stuff like that.

It could also help with the backgrounds: if everyone is enslaved, where did the PCs come from? But if there are pockets of resistance, maybe some of the PCs came from there.
>>
>>36048025
Which is what Mulan, Bagheera and Arthur are for. Having too many heroes running around makes the villains look incompetent as well, and raises questions about how the heroes are immortal as well.
>>
>>36048013

Yeah, let's keep the pirates around: they work for Captain Hook. This way, Hook's got all kind of crazy sea voodoo magic.

The bad shit starts when you go to, say, Black Louisiana or the Bald Mountain
>>
>>36048013
I think the Pirate Lords are part of this all somehow with Hook as their immortal leader and his flying ship. In the way of Treasure Planet there was talk of a continuation that goes into space, dealing with WALL-E, Treasure Planet, and maybe Star Wars, but all that was just an idea
>>
>>36048013
>The movies we aren't using: Toy Story (too small to effect anything), Treasure Planet (Not even set on earth).
Don't worry. That's where spinoffs come in.
>>
>>36048045

Yeah, Mulan, Bagheera, Arthur and a few other guys. We want a few surviving heroes, not a shitload of them.

And a trapped Merlin would be a nice idea for a campaign. Oh, maybe he's starting to open cracks in his prison, ending out messages for the heroes to find, telling them where they can find useful artifact and allies in their quest.
>>
>>36048013

POTC is basically the full on Ursula/Captain Hook campaign. The PIrate Lords are uncatchable because Hook is sharing the secret of fairy powder and magic with them so they can keep their way of life, and in return he's considered pirate king.

You gotta feel kinda bad for Ursula, now that I think about it.

Atlantis is just a gianti glowing blue middle finger on her face all this time, there Pirate Lords are just navigating her waters when she keeps the whole thing stormy....

>>36048059

Black Louisiana, under Dr. Facilier, is just a constant competition of backstabbing and trying to get the other guy in your debt, and running from your debt until you can pay it off. Because the Friends can and will just up and eat your soul.

Frollo's France is a small territory shoved in between many, many monsters and pagan shit that just makes the Inquisiton go "HERESY!" on everything, and his King, Land, Rule ability just makes every citizen distrustful and xenophobic as well. I suppose there is enough order in there for people to live, but I can't help but imagine it being a constant civil war.

As Hunnic China IS a country in civil war, only it is so damn big that you might be able to get yourself a nice little hole somewhere desert and nobody will bother you. Until your ancestors get pissed off at you for not restoring honor.

Oh, and the Pridelands. The Pridelands aren't very nice. Scar is a dick.

They're mostly ignored by HK except as a source of new corpses, so as long as they continue to throw their cadavers outside and pay homage to him, he lets them be. The Horned King's success pretty much depends on Taran being dead or unable to escape his chains before he can do a swan-dive into the cauldron.

A resistance movement could spring up in these cities or hiding up north in the Kingdom of the Bear. Unfortunately, Mor'du still being a thing also requires the DunBrochi being dead.

Bald Mountain has no resistance at all.

Louisiana would be a difficult place to start a resistance movement. Shadow Demons are nasty, insidious bastards, and Facilier seems pretty adept at reading those cards of his.

The Archdiocese would probably not have a resistance because THE INQUISITION, WHAT A SHOW, THE INQUISITION, HERE WE, WE BET YOU'RE WISHIN' THAT WE'D GO AWAAAAAAAAY

Well, I thin we did some good work today: the setting is moving along quite nicely and we are getting closer to a nice and simple system to improve later.

We need some narrativistic mechanics now, but there's still time for that.
>>

I like it. Staying near a road is a good way to have an escape route and a reprieve from a King's effects, but you're put at the mercy of where the GM wants you to exit.
>>
>>36048345
We still need these things before we can progress to a playtest:
We need to decide how attributes and skills are ranked and scored
We need to decide on some general traits and how traits in general will work
Roles/Classes need to provide some bonus or framework for a character
We need to nail down how the Three Strikes system will work
Tiers, and XP advancement need to be finished eventually

Hey everyone, I just got back from watching Big Hero 6 and I think Yokai and the Eastern Co-Prosperity Syndicate have a lot of potential. I know it just came out, so do you want me to post a King/Land/Rule for it in spoilers or should I just leave it out for now?

No. When the Toonton portal was broken the Toons were severed from Toon Magic. Now a few poor peddling toons wander the wastes, hoping to find their way back home. They have small powers, but there are rumors of some artifacts hidden around the world.
>>
>>36048454

Good, good. And the Skills?

I suggest that the first time you take a Skill you get a +3, while each time you raise it after that you only get another +1. This way there's a huge gap between an untrained guy and a trained guy, but after that the Attributes go back to weigh a lot more.
>>
>>36048421
I was thinking some of the more obviously and unabashedly taking place in 'modern' times could be a post-main release book. I mean sure Chernobog is banished and the evil lords are dealt with but after so many years of darkness and Evil, its not like things would (probably) get better and now everyone knows about the King-Land-Rule thing so while you don't have one strong powerful Evil, you've got a buncha little evils popping up.

Maybe. I just feel the fully modern day movies shouldn't take part in the world currently being built. In the 'far' future of that world yes but not IN it. Y'know?

Sound's workable. Let me do some math real quick to see if we're getting too big.

Untrained roll for (skill): 10.5+8 = 18.5 average roll
Trained, rank 1: 10.5+8+3 = 21.5 average roll
Rank 2: 22.5
rank 3: 23.5

Okay, it's workable but we'll need to work the TN's around it. Also, attributes might be better to increase depending on how you've built your character but that's true in most games.

Ranged Weapons
Melee Weapons
Unarmed Combat

Disguise
Stealth
Riding (Beasts)
Riding (Vehicles)

Knowledge/Academics
Occult
Languages

We need to figure out what to do with Bluff/Persuasion/Intimidate. I think they work much better as traits.

Bluff/Persuade/Intimidate should remain separate skills if only to differentiate the kinds of faces (charismatic and sensible).
Acrobatics and athletics are remaining separate as per our discussion above.
>>
>>36048663

I think we should go with:

Acrobatics
Athletics

Melee
Ranged
Brawl
Dodge

Insight

Stealth
Sleight of Hand

Bluff
Persuasion
Intimidate

Academics
Science
Occult
Mechanics
Linguistics

Traveling

Music

>>
>>36048762

Intimidate is not always done through speeches: cracking your knuckles is perfectly good for a guy with ROBUSTNESS! Bluffing is also not always done with speeches: feints don't rely on words. And Persuasions should cover Seduction, so no speeches there: only eye fluttering.
>>
>>36048804

Stealing, getting out of manacles, using ropes, hiding stuff, prestidigitation, juggling and shit.

>>36048874
The fact of the matter is that bluffing and persuading someone are very different. 'speech' doesn't exactly cover telling a convincing lie, that's more a matter of pose, poise, and your body language/tone of voice, whereas convincing someone involves appealing to them and trying to rationalize with them.

As a side note: Our 1d4chan page now has a image, and someone thoughtfully sorted it into homebrew settings! Go team.

Yeah but here's the thing: Those movies' settings are more modern than most. A lot of what we got is either old or has an older feel to it that it could get a pass with how hodge-podge the world is. Settings like Bolt, Lilo and Stitch, Meet the Robinsons (especially), The Incredibles etc etc are better suited for a post-Chernobog beaten setting in the same universe

>>
>>36048985
I've never seen Bolt or the Robinsons so I can't really say but Hawaii is part of Atlantis. I'd say we leave Stitch and Jumba for the Space Expansion with Treasure Planet and Star Wars
>>
>>36049027

This guy's got the right idea.

Frankly, I think we should reiterate that we are kind of mkaing the "Core" book right now and possible add ons might come later, depending on what people want to include

That includes anything from Dreamworks to Stars Wars and Marvel, but for now let's focus on the ones that compose the setting best, alright?
>>
>>36049027

>>
>>36048514
I get you, but I think that it adds some nice Cyberpunk variety to the mix. As far as the power of tech is concerned, it is really limited by access to resources in a way that the magic of the other factions isn't.

We haven't fleshed out Jafar or Maleficent very much, when it comes to the big villains. I think we've bandied the idea of Agrabah Sultanate being big on trade and not so much on religion, and I've sort of had the idea that the Fae Lands are just Maleficent's playground. She leads fellow fae in wild hunts or occasionally turns the air poisonous when she's bored. Technically, most of France would be probably be under Frollo's rule, but the Fae lands are where people fear her and her pals more than they do the INQUISITION.
>>
>>36049087
Our tech level is highly anachronistic.
We've got Yzma's sunless empire at around 600bc level tech, we've got the multitude of medieval empires in europe, we've got 600ad China, we've got 2020's pacific, and we've got renaissance Scandinavia, as well as the Wild West, the Age of Exploration Gulf of Mexico, et cetera et cetera.

>>36049106
Linguistics feels like a boring mechanic to me. Disney movies never really had language trouble outside of Atlantis, but it's probably a thing we're going to have to add. Moreover, can talking animals speak to people?
>>
>>36049106

I believe Animal should be a language option, considering that many of the most influential movies were beasts

I would go with

Languages (West)
Languages( East)
Languages (Beast)
Languages (Occult)?
>>
>>36049129

Languages should come with Linguistics: when you buy Linguistics the first time you get three languages, then one language every time you buy Linguistics after that.

There's shouldn't be too many languages: maybe not Human as a language, but three or four human languages at most. Not!English, Not!French, Not!German and Not!Latin/Greek. Everything else is done with accents.
>>
>>36049210

Then, an Animal Language and a Demon Language, made of cackling and sinister laughing.
>>
>>36049247

>All these times the BBEDemons were laughing evily at you they were just shit talking a little more

>>
>>36049247
Might be different animal languages as well, for different biomes or continents. Rainforest, Savannah, Deciduous, Evergreen, Tundra, etc.
>>
>>36049210
Eh, I feel like there should be some non-European languages as well. Maybe two European languages, an Asian language, and an indigenous American language?
>>
>>36049120
Maleficent doesn't really have much going for her personality besides being, well, describable as maleficent, does she? What /would/ she do once she's established dominion over her realm? Mess with her subjects?

>>36049129
Beastial should definitely be a category. I saw something earlier about having to pick up the local animals' dialect across the course of a day or so.

>>36049210
But this is Earth, so there's no need for fake languages. Real ones are perfectly applicable.

The players would need ways to pick up these languages, though. Maybe as a mechanic it would indeed be too restrictive.

The Eastern Co-Prosperity Sphere is a land of untold prosperity and progress, but also exploitation and social stratification. Yokai eagerly swallows up any talent into his research facilities where they produce wonders which can rival the magic of the old world, and the crystal fueled technology of the East Coast.

ATTENTION: THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR BIG HERO 6. DO NOT OPEN UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN IT/ DON'T CARE ABOUT SPOILERS. BUT SERIOUSLY, GO SEE IT WHEN YOU CAN, IT'S A GREAT MOVIE

King: President and CEO of the ECPS Robert Callaghan is an accomplished and respected roboticist and ruthless supervillan. From his boardroom, he rages, driven mad by the inability to save his daughter. He stalks the night as Yokai, controlling an innumerable swarm of microbots, which can quickly overwhelm any adversary. However, his true weapon is his affability. He appears to be a kind and fatherly figure, and encourages his students to build him new technological marvels. His inner circle of students and researchers are utterly devoted to him, and will defend them with their own lives.

Land: The land of the ECPS is one of stratification, with towering, glimmering cities surrounded by rotting slums. Within the center of the cities, every motion is watched, recorded and analyzed. Any newcomer is carefully monitored for potential, and for potential danger. In the slums, crime is rampant and people are poor. Here the criminal arm of the Syndicate rules, extorting the populace, trafficking slaves, and terrorizing them with crude robots, derived from the underground fighting leagues. Outside of the cities is an industrial wasteland. Avarice and gluttony for resources has stripped the land of its livelihood, and has left it dangerously toxic and uninhabitable.

Rule: Callaghan is a resourceful man, and finds a use for each of his subjects. The brightest (but not too bright), are taken into his inner circle, where their inventions can increase his power. Most of his subjects are kept in poverty deliberately, so those absolved of their misfortune will be forever grateful. Others are taken into the various gangs and mobs, who take payment from the syndicate to oppress those without potential. Dissedants and anyone without talent are shipped off to the colonies. Some are sent into the jungles of Brazil and the east indies to find rare organic compounds, while others are forced to mine, to suppliment the insatiable hunger for rare earth elements. Why waste precious resources on robots when there is such a surplus of idlers? Those who show up Callaghan and create wonders beyond his own capacity disappear, their records are abolished and all inventions are credited to the dear president.

Maybe freeing all the boys trapped there would give the nobler characters XP?

It's kinda funny that Radcliffe was the guy reaching out for peace and trade between native americans and settles IRL, and Powhatan's older brother was the belligerent arsehole.

Of course, most of the NA's died off from diseases caught from traders, so...

>I had an idea where after Pinocchio defeats the Coachman, and finds out Geppetto is dead, with nothing else left in his life, he takes over Pleasure Island for himself, as it's hedonistic Wooden Lord...
Nice!

Btw, I'm the one who did the King, Land, And Rule for her.

It's normal: crunch discussions take time and move slowly, but have no fear, because we are going to get this done. Not now and most certainly not tomorrow, but we are going to get it done, both fluff and crunch wise.

Stay strong, brother: the bells are going to ring again, someday.

>we established already that Toontown still sort of exists

We did, but the DOOMroad is way better.

Here we get into the >brace for impact part of character creation.

Are we going to do random generation or point-buy? Keep in mind, player characters will need to establish stats between 4 and 12 for all statistics but Will, and will need a handful of skills for early on.

Prepare your buttholes, this could get intense.

Welp, I'm off. See you tomorrow, guys. I hope you'll get down something about the relationships between the Kings in the meanwhile.

>>36049726

Obviously, we create both systems and allow each group to choose which one they'd rather use.

See you tomorrow!

I sure hope so. Frankly, I never managed to play any tabletop properly so my knowledge of all things crunchy is less than limited, so I can't help too much on this

But since I was having a blast with the fluff, I shall keep around and try to do what I can for the setting. Can't quit now. It wouldn't be the disney thing to do to quit when things start to get hard

Welp, looks like I picked the perfect time to go to bed.

Try to not blow yourselves up. Stay strong /tg/

>it's hedonistic Wooden Lord...
>You fight him
>You mortally wound him
>He retreats
>You celebrate
>Sirens blare fifteen minutes later, followed by self-destruct countdown
>You and others run out, only to be stopped.
>It's Pinocchio, but now he's all silvery and robotic.
>He walks down, red eyes and mouth glowing.

Speaking of which... I liked the suggestion earlier about gathering bells from around the world for the final assault on Bald Mountain. Maybe what keeps it from being any old bell is that it needs to have participated in a significant event, or needs to have dwelled in a place of (nonevil) magic for a long time.

The lone church in Chernobog's realm was also an excellent idea. Maybe all the bells could be set up there.

An idea for the Spirit Realm: the spirit realm is the Genius Loci of the Earth, which is fighting to maintain its hold on the inhospitable places of the north. It manifests as the Aurora Borealis, and takes the shape of various totem spirits. As evil grows, it grows weaker, and has been severely weakened by the powers of wickedness in the world. Anyone who can brave the wilderness and survive malevolent nature spirits will gain the opportunity to prove themselves. If they are successful in their task, they will be granted resistance to some of the negative effects of the realms

Anybody up for making the Captain of the most famous sub in Disney part of the Atlantean Republic? Cause Nemo would be a grand NPC, I think.

Should we take out the Prosperity Syndicate or whatever it's called, then? Cyberpunk doesn't really fit.

This all seems a little too modern for our setting. I think we've said multiple times that sci-fi won't mesh well with the rest of our world.

But wouldn't it be neat to have some campaign ideas for the 100 Acre Woods, too?

Let's assume Christopher Robin is the King of 100 Acre Woods. He's gone missing. One of the early movies, Pooh's Great Adventure, reveals that the people in the 100 Acre Woods live in peace, as long as Christopher Robin is there, and he has some form of bravery-inducing power, as proven by the difference in the Skull Cave before and after Pooh finds Christopher.

So picture this. The King, Christopher Robin, has vanished, and the 100 Acre Woods are growing more and more frightening by the minute. The peaceful natives have struck an alliance with the Heffalumps and Woozles, in fear of the reently more active Skullasauri. There's even rumors that something worse lurks out there, something even the Skullasauri run from in abject terror...
