LAST TIME ON GEASS QUEST: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/35895192/

Thread times and updates posted here: https://twitter.com/Crosswire

Rules and Mechanics: http://pastebin.com/J8ehewqf

Your name is Xinlu Kuu...or at least that’s what you need to convince someone of.

Everything was going rather well up to this point. You’d survived another nasty battle, saved the life of one of your comrades, gotten a chance to join the Advanced Special Envoy Engineering Corp, found out you’d be working aboard the flying aerial battleship “Avalon”, and were in a much better position to exact your revenge in HIM.

However as you were unpacking and getting ready to meet your boss, someone walked into your room and spoke to you, someone with a frighteningly familiar face.

Suzaku Kururugi

The fact you can think and recognize that name clearly without feeling the urge to ‘forget’ deeply worries you, but the way he looks you is even more worrying.

Ever since you figured out HE had been lying to you, to everyone, you became very self-conscious of how other people's eyes looked. Slowly you came to realize that whenever someone’s looked you in the eyes it always felt they were hiding something, weather they were your comrades in bootcamp, strangers on the street, or your friends back in Ashford. Most of the time it didn't feel intentional, with your friends it seemed more like a reflex, like a nervous flinch to hide what they were thinking or feeling for fear of making a scene or poisoning a happy situation with an unpleasant truth.

Other times it felt intentional, that the person you were talking too, the emotions they displayed, the things they said, were just calculated and produced to hide not merely what they were thinking and feeling, but who they really were.

But Suzaku’s gaze is different, because when you look into his eyes you don’t feel he’s hiding anything but rather that he’s telling you exactly what he’s feeling.

The look in his eyes is unnerving, a disquieted type of anger that’s both intense and calm at the say time. Suzaku’s anger doesn’t reflect in his body language at all as he stands in the doorway to your room, leaning into the frame with his arms crossed and his body relaxed in a casual manner.

For a moment you’re unable to move, unable to speak, and for a brief time unable to think about anything but his gaze. Even behind the comforting tint of your sunglasses, you can still feel the heat from Suzaku’s stare.

You’re not sure how long the two of you stand there, but eventually Suzaku speaks and blasts away the silence.

“I’ll ask you one more time. Who are you?"

Suzaku is kinda retarded, but I seriously doubt that he could forget Shirley, especially considering her "depression" episode in this timeline.
Oh well, whatever.

>Xinlu Kuu nice to meet you sir!
>>
>>36041126
>especially considering her "depression" episode in this timeline.
She's gone to recover after her mother committed suicide (Which didn't actually happen in the original series, now I look back on it.)
Suzaku shouldn't have heard heads or tails of it after that. I think what's on Suzaku's mind is that we're his replacement, due to him being an 11 and honorary Britannian, who's Euphie's knight. Who incidentally is no longer royalty AND failed the entire 11 containment special zone of Nippon.
>>
>>36040851
>I’m Shirley Fenette (Tell the truth)
Just to go against the flow. Though I really doubt Suzaku will be convinced by our lie. Suzaku might be stupid, but he isn't THAT stupid. So I don't think lying is going to work on him. Hopefully we can convince him to help us keep up the lie.
>>
>>36041169
Wait, Euphiemia is no longer royalty in this timeline? Where did we learn that?

Murder princess was nothing to do with it I believe.
>>

>By the way way, Crosswire, am i right to assume that murder princess didn't happpen because of the incident with Shirley?

Not strictly because of the incident with Shirley, but rather because Lelouch didn't use his Geass as many times as he did in canon and it didn't go out of control when he met with Euphemia.

Also I apologize for not putting up the thread link on Twitter, I think I locked myself out by botching my own password too many times in my sleepy haze. It should unlock in an hour or so. Sorry for the inconvenience.

“I’m Xinlu Kuu, nice to meet you!” You give Suzaku a delighted smile and act as calm as you can, snapping a salute when you realize his rank makes him your superior.

Suzaku remains silent as you reply, his gaze hardening and a heavy sigh escaping his lips. He pulls himself out of his leaning position and walks over to you, his movements slow and nonthreatening, but his eyes burning with an intense look of disgust.

“I thought you’d be better than this Shirley…” he says with a slow shake of his head.

“But I’m not-”

Suzaku lunges forward before you can finish and with a single quick movement snatches the shades from your face, giving him a clear, full view of your barely disguised face.

“But I guess I was wrong. Then again I’ve been wrong about a lot of things haven’t I?” He stands in front of you, one hand gripping your sunglasses and the other laying at his side, as if waiting for you to do something foolish.

A surge of panic runs through you as you realize you’ve been cornered, and despite Suzaku being around your height he seems to tower over you now that he's figured out your secret. You think quickly and desperately on how you can salvage this situation…

Xinlu Kuu, however, does.

>No one can be allowed to know your true name, after all joining the military under a false identity is illegal enough as it is, if anyone found out you'd been mentally institutionalized prior to joining it could complicate matters even further. Even as Kuu it wasn't easy joining the military, your ‘condition’ almost got you turned away for being medically ineligible for service. It took the pulling of a lot of strings by your late father’s friend, Dr. Pailsen, just to get your new identity setup and have your condition overlooked.
>>
>>36042180
And how is lying more when he already knows we're lying going to help, exactly? If we admit the truth, we can at least try to convince him to understand our situation. Lie more and he'll be more pissed at us, and we might just be making an enemy out of him.

In your fear and panic it's tempting to go all the way in your lie, to lose yourself in it, to break down in tears, deny your very existence in the small hope that Suzaku will believe you and let you go without any consequences. However you're stopped when you realize something:

That's exactly what you would have done as a child.

As scattered and spastic as the memories of your childhood now are in your mind, you remember constantly lying as a child, like most children do. It was about little things, accidentally breaking a dish, stealing a piece of cake from the fridge, things that seem foolish to lie about now but seemed terrifying back then.

Only instead of lying to your father or your mother you're lying to Suzaku, who despite having some connection with...him, remains in your mind as a good person and one of your friends.

You decide to tell him the truth.

"Suzaku. Shirley Fenette is the naive little school girl who was too weak to stop her own mother from killing herself, she could never take revenge on the person who she's come to hate the most." You look Suzaku in the eyes, dropping your defenses and speaking with just as much anger and disgust as Suzaku was moments ago, your own 'truth' spilling out.

"But Xinlu Kuu has the strength to get revenge, to make a difference, to become stronger and exact justice on Zero!" You say the name and your head immediately begins to throb in pain, but you bite down on your tongue and focus on what's in front of you, fighting the urge to forget.

Suzaku's gaze actually softens and his look of disgust becomes a deep frown of worry.

"Revenge isn't justice Shirley. It won't bring your father or your mother back. Killing isn't going to solve anything." Suzaku states, now sounding more like the boy you talked to in school.

>(1/2)
>>
>>36042204
So you don't have an argument at all. It comes down to nothing.

There IS no reason we shouldn't continue lying to him. Why should we lie? So we don't have to explain why we're shooting refrain-alikes into ourself to keep our memories, so we don't have to explain why we're in the military, so we don't have to deal with him intruding into our plans.

>>36042226
>So that he won't go SHE"S KILLING MUH ELEVENS, LLOYD PLS THROW HER OUT SHES CUHRAZY or something.
Lloyd's a heartless bastard, we're a devicer, a part, nothing more.

>>36042239
We're not IN the Military any more. We're in the special research decision which accepts anomalies. Hell, Suzaku, THE anomaly. A numbers isn't allowed to pilot, there would be an outrage if we were brought out because of that.

>>36042250

>>
>>36042344

>>
>>36042250
"Then why are you fighting Suzaku? You're a pilot of the Lancelot, you've killed plenty of people. Why? It's not going to solve anything."

Suzaku looks conflicted but shakes his head. "I'm fighting to stop people front dying Shirley, I want to end this fighting so no more innocent people need to die."

"And that's what I intend to do. Once Zero's dead the Black Knights will fall to pieces, then no one else will have to die from suffocation or grief."

Suzaku remains silent and stares deep into your eyes with you staring back unflinchingly. Neither of you move or say anything, as if looking into one another's eyes is all you need to say at this point.

As if losing some kind of silence contest Suzaku is the first one to speak.

"I don't agree or like what you're doing Shirley. Revenge is only going to tear you apart and ruin your life. I'd turn you in here and now to stop you from making this decisions...but if I did you're probably face criminal charges and most certainly go to prison..." Suzaku's turns his back on you as if knowing you're armed with a knife and fully capable of stabbing his in the back.

"I'm willing to let this drop and play along on one condition. I want you to start coming to Ashford with me. The others are worried to death about you, Milly practically seems manic nowadays. If they ask where you've been or where you go we can tell them you're still undergoing therapy..."

You think long and hard for a moment as silence swallows the room again. Going back to Ashford would be uncomfortable considering...he is still going there. However Suzaku only has the time to go infrequently so it wouldn't be like you'd be going back to school full time, and considering Zero could launch an attack any day it's likely you'll be rather busy with your 'therapy'.

What do you wish to do Shirley?

Suzaku wouldn't be listened to. The special squad is an anomaly in itself, having one person who's a bit out of it isn't out of the question when you already have Suzaku being seen as mentally unfit AS WELL as being a Numbers.

"No." You say, practically on reflex. As nice as going back to school would be there's a chance HE could learn what you were up too and that would complicate things immensely.

"Oh? Then I'll have to tell everyone the truth." Suzaku says, turning back around.

"Please, after Kamine Island, Co-Operating with Zero, and everything else you're practically a joke. I doubt anyone would believe you if you actually knew who Zero really was!" You snap defensively and grin, feeling you've got Suzaku beat.

"I'm not talking about the military Shirley. Like I said before I don't want to see you go to prison. However I won't lie to my friends and let them beat themselves up over not being able to help you when you're out here wasting your life on some stupid quest for revenge." Suzaku speaks plainly but his words turn your blood ice cold.

"Y-you wouldn't!"

"I would. I'll tell all of our friends, Milly, Rivalz, Kallen, Lelouch, I think I'd even go so far as telling Nunnally. You can ruin your life all you wish, but I refuse to let you ruin theirs as well. You can ether start coming back to Ashford with me on our days off or I can tell our friends the truth . What's it going to be?"

For the love of God, if we're going to go back anyway, we should at least have the decency to let Suzaku thing we're in this together. Lying sets him off, so the route we're taking is just going to make him as shittershattered as he could possibly fucking get about this. And as Lancelot's test pilot, he's a lot more valuable to Lloyd than we are, as Lloyd judges by deed instead of word.

There is nothing about the idea people are currently pushing anyone could remotely consider intelligent if they stopped to think about the consequences, which are far more harmful than not. And that's not worth getting a little "ha!" moment in.

You just laugh in Suzaku's face and smile, your hands going to your hips as confidence swells into you a plan exploding into your mind.

"I'll down things my own way Suzaku. I'll start going to Ashford on my own, that way no one will believe you when you say I'm in the military. It's the truth, but who would believe little old me being a soldier of all things?"

"That's fine." Suzaku says with a shrug.

"W-what?"

"You get the same days off as me Shirley and will get called away to action the same time as me. Eventually everyone will come to realize the truth. Do you really want to put them through learning one of their friends is lying to them?" Suzaku frowns, his guard dropping and his face becoming sincere.

"Please Shirley, all I want you to do is start coming back to school. You can stay in the military, I'll even cover for you and make sure no one figures out what you're doing. Please Shirley...I don't want to see you or anyone else hurt..."

You hesitate and look down at the floor, finding it difficult to look at Suzaku anymore. Does he really just want to protect you? Or is he trying to get in the way of your plans of revenge?

You're uncertain if trusting in Suzaku is the best option, but going against him would just make you another enemy and you already have a very major enemy to deal with.

"I understand." Suzaku merely nods and gives a relieved smile. "If we need too you can skip some days to avoid making it look like you're always leaving and arriving with me. Do you actually have a doctor? Maybe you can have him tell everyone that I'm picking you up and dropping you off at therapy? I mean every time Milly's called your phone it's been someone else on the line..."

"Yeah his name is Doctor Pailsen, I can call him up and-"

"Wait, Dr. Pailsen? That's weird, that's the new doctor that just transferred aboard yesterday." Suzaku says with a confused look.

"What?" You don't remember telling Pailsen you'd been transferred to the Special Corp...

"Well I doubt it's the same man. Anyway just get things sorted out with him and you can start coming back the next time we get leave. It's good to have you aboard Private First Class Xinlu Kuu! I look forward to seeing how you'll serve here in the Special Corp. I'll leave you be so you can get settled in and we can talk personal matters latter.." Suzaku turns and leaves but pauses at the door.

"Shir-I mean Kuu. I want you to know that killing someone isn't always a proper revenge. Some people want to die and being kept alive, being denied death or their purpose, is a fate worse then death.

You'd rather like to see if Dr. Pailsen really is aboard the Avalon, but you're pretty sure your boss is waiting to meet you. Not wishing to make a bad impression you check yourself in your mirror and leave, deciding to visit the infirmary later. Navigating through the halls of the Avalon proves more difficult then you'd expect as the ship is quite large and all the hallways look the same.

After getting directions from one of the crewman you make your way to the hanger. You spy some rather interesting Knightmares at the back of the room as well as some odd looking equipment, but force your attention back to finding and meeting your boss. Unable to find anyone who looks remotely related to the noble title of Earl, you approach a rather eccentric looking man with silver hair as he looks over something on a laptop.

"Excuse me, I'm one of the new test pilots here and I can't seem to find my way around very well. Someone told me Earl Lloyd Asplund was here in this hanger, but I haven't found anyone that matches the description of an Earl, do you know where I can find him?"

The silver haired man turns around with the most amused look on his face, as if you'd told him some kind of joke. He closes his laptop and stands up from the crate he was sitting on, proving to be at least a half a head taller then you.

"So you're looking for Lloyd Asplund, are you?" The man leans over, getting uncomfortably close to you, his round glasses beaming as he speaks.

"Y-yes I am. Is that a problem? I was told I needed to report to him and it's my first day on the job so..."

The silver haired man chuckles to himself and straightens himself, pushing up his glasses as he stares down at you with bemused and analytic eyes. "No, it's not a problem at all. You're not needlessly defective or defiant, but at the same time you're not like Suzaku. You're interesting, but will you make a good devisor?"

>(1/2)

It's hard not to feel uncomfortable at the man's almost dehumanizing words and you shift awkwardly, taking a step back from the strange man.

"Well I'm sure I'll find out, once I meet the Earl. I'll go and look for him now, so I guess-" You turn to leave the hanger and put as much distance as you can between yourself the the silver haired man, but he speaks out before you can.

"Why are you looking for the Earl? You already found him."

"Huh? Where?" You look around, not seeing anyone but orange suited mechanics and the man in front of you.

"Right in front of you Kuu." Lloyd states in a singsong voice, causing you to pause in disbelief and then blush.

You immediately snap a salute and straighten yourself. "Private First Class Xinlu Kuu reporting for duty!"

"There's no need for that nonsense, I'm a military contractor, not an actual member of the military. Though it's amusing to see just how different you are from my other divisor..."

"Is that a problem?" You ask, worry welling up in your stomach.

"Not really. Every mechanism needs specific parts and just because a part works better in one machine doesn't mean it'll work well in another. You should do just fine for what I have in mind. So do you have any questions before I introduce you to the mechanism you'll be apart of?"

"Well if you don't mind me asking, what makes me so qualified to be your new 'mechanism?" You're still not particularly comfortable with the term, but your boss doesn't say it maliciously almost like it's the proper term for a test pilot to him.

"Well for starters you managed to defeat a 7th generation rebel Knightmare in a 4th generation scrap heap. So you obviously have some manner of skill that's not dependent on the Knightmare you're using. Then there's the fact you don't seem to care throwing yourself into dangerous situations. I heard the proper report on what happened at the Odake base, you could have easily ran during the simulation and the rebel attack. However you didn't, you stayed and fought despite the danger of the situation and the limitations of your equipment." Lloyd grins at the last part, looking like a giddy school body for a moment before relaxing.

"A willingness to fight in spite of technical limitations or failures and the ability to pilot 'peaky' Knightmares is exactly the kind of qualities I want in my new mechanism. You seem to fit those qualities rather well..."

"Uh, thanks? So how often does the Special Corp get deployed and what are my duties when I'm not deployed for battle?" You decide to switch the topic and get a shrug out of Lloyd.

"We're an irregular unit. We're usually deployed whenever we're needed or the Brass want someone disposable to throw at a problem that might risk their own troops. Our primary goal is data collection and weapons development, and since the best data is gained from real battles and combat it's important that we see as much combat as possible. Before the fall of the Special Zone the Lancelot was only deployed for major battles and operations, but ever since Zero's gone underground and the fighting as become sporadic we've been sent on rather menial nonsense." Lloyd looked genuinely displeased for a moment, though he appeared more irritated then angry.

"So does that mean I won't get to fight very often?"

"Oh heavens no. With all the talk of Zero returning I'm sure we'll be busier than ever. Until then you'll probably be sent on some mop up operations. When you're not piloting it's expected that you assist in maintaining your machine and help the other engineers with their duties. From what your file said you don't have any background in electronics or mechanics, but all you'll be asked to do is regularly maintenance. I'm sure Suzaku or Cecile will be able to show you the ropes."

"Will I have to wear a special uniform now that I'm apart of the Special Corp?" You ask, looking around at all the orange uniformed individuals moving about the hanger.

"Yes. I'm sure Cecile will fit you for one or something..." Lloyd states dully.

“So how is Suzaku doing? I heard he’s been through some pretty rough things lately…”

Lloyd turns his head and glances at you, intrigue flashing in his eyes. “Suzaku’s been performing like any good divisor should, but you’re the first person who’s ever asked how he’s been outside of Cecile. Tell me, do you have personal feelings for Suzaku?”

“W-what? Of course not! I was just wondering if he was OK that’s all!” You blush and Lloyd laughs to himself as you continue to follow him.

“Also, Earl Lloyd, can I have your contact information?” You ask, deciding it’s probably a good idea to have some way of calling your boss.

“I’ll have you know I’m already married Private Kuu.” Lloyd states.

“W-what? No! I just want to be able to contact you when I need too…” You blush again and your boss just continues to grin in amusement.

"Just ask Cecile, she handles all my calls anyway."

Your memory is faint, but if you're correctly then this man is married to Milly. The way she always teased you and made you feel uncomfortable like this makes her marriage to his man bizarrely fitting.

Trying to make your questions to your boss less awkward, you decide to ask him something simple but personal

"So uh, what's your favorite food?"

"Only the greatest culinary achievement of humanity of course, pudding!" He spins around and throws out as his arms as he announces his love for pudding, actually making you giggle yourself.

"I actually like quite a lot myself."

"Really? Well then that's just another piece of proof that shows you're a proper divisor after all!"

You're just about to the end of the hanger when you ask "I've heard about the Lancelot before, is my Knightmare based off of it?"

Just the word 'Lancelot' in that question makes Lloyd's eyes light up like Christmas tree's and he grins wider then ever.

"I was wondering when you were going to ask me about that..." He stops, moves aside and points to a set of scaffolding set up around three Knightmares. The first is obviously the Lancelot, standing tall with regal looking white and gold armor that makes it look even cooler in person.

Beside it however is a machine that looks oddly similar. It's head and torso is different, and it's armor isn't remotely as regal. Paint in white and blue the green eyed Knightmare towers above you with a horn on it's head that reminds you a little bit one of those huge beetles you heard about.

"This is the Z-01b Lancelot Club. I made it using spare parts from the Lancelot and some experimental designs I wanted to try. The Lancelot is too good for some of my more eccentric designs, so I built the Club as a test bed for them and to try and adapt my precious Lancelot into a form more suitable for mass production."

You stare up at the machine, looking it over carefully and taking in every aspect of it.

"It's...pretty cool to be honest! Looks a lot lighter then what I'm normally used to piloting. What are it's specs compared to the Lancelot? Can it use the same equipment? And can I paint it in my own colors?"

Lloyd just smiles and basks in the questions about his creation, nodding slowly before speaking. "The Lanceot Club has about 70% of the performance of the original Lancelot. However it's performance is 'peaky' it tends to dip and climb whenever it feels like it, but that's probably because it's incomplete at the moment. Ultimately it's inferior to the Lancelot but it's still a seventh generation Knightmare and it cost significantly less to make. Equipment wise it has four Slash Harkens, two on it's forearms and two on it's hips, it can utilize a VARIS rifle, it has Blaze Luminous shields in it's forearms and it'll be able to use MVS blades as well."

You don't really understand a lot of the weapon terms he's using but from the sound of it the machine sounds like a HUGE step up from a Glasgow. However looking at the horn makes you curious.

"The horn seems kind of out of place for something based on the Lancelot. Is it just there for decoration?"

"Ah so you noticed the horn! No that horn isn't just a decoration, it contains a powerful ECM system that should be able to jam enemy communications and interfere with Factsphere usage. It's still highly experimental though and like I said the Club isn't finished. You'll be piloting the Sutherland Club to help test out some of the parts necessary to get the Lancelot Club on it's feet."

Lloyd points to the third Knightmare in the hanger a heavily modified Sutherland with a similar paint scheme to the Club.

"Performance wise it's only on par with a Gloucester, but it's mostly just a straight up test bed so I can finish the Club for proper deployment. Outside of the advanced Factsphere in it's head and the Blaze Luminous shields on it's forearms, it's nothing special."

"But you didn't answer my question, can I have it painted in my own colors?" You ask eagerly, intrigued by bother machines.

"We'll see. The Lancelot Club and Sutherland Club are picky machines, I originally tried to have Suzaku test them out by they proved to dislike him quite a bit. If you're not killed within your first week of active testing then you can paint the Club however you wish. But you'll have to pay for the paint." Lloyd doesn't look particularly thrilled at the thought of the Club painted in a ridiculous color scheme, but he looks to the ever regal Lancelot and just shrugs his shoulders.

"Yeah!" You cheer, genuinely excited to start testing.

"Well I have work I need to attend too. Cecile should be able to get you your uniform, the manuals for your machines, and will answer any more questions you have. She's the women with the dark blue hair, she should be easy to find. However if you think of anything particularly interesting feel free to bother me a little." And with that Lloyd turns aloofly and strides away.

You're left looking over the Sutherland and Lancelot Club, smiling to yourself.

As interested as you are to investigate Pailsen, you decide it’s better to just focus on what you immediately need and head off to find Cecile. It proves to be much easier finding her then it did Lloyd, as there aren’t very many women in the Special Corp it seems.

You find her alone in storage, moving around and organizing various boxes when you walk in. Even through her uniform it’s easy to tell she’s a slender, but fit women from the way she lifts some of the larger, heavy looking boxes Unlike Lloyd who had an almost otherworldly oddness to him, Cecile feels so much more grounded and approachable as a person merely from her body language.

“You must be new test pilot Lloyd had scouted. I’m Cecile Croomy, it’s a pleasure to meet you Private first class Xinlu Kuu.” Cecile gives you a warm smile and extends a friendly hand to you, however as you look the women over you’re reminded of your mother and cringe.

“Is something the matter?” Cecile asks, pulling her hands back at your cringe and frowning.

“Huh? Oh no I’m sorry I just remembered something unpleasant, that’s all. It’s a pleasure to meet you ma’am” You give a salute by Cecile merely shakes her head.

“You don’t need to salute me or anyone else in the Special Unit. Since we’re an irregular unit we’re much more lax on regulations and military procedures. You'll be expected to show proper respect for authority and salute regular members of the military, but for now you don't need to act so formal."

"Oh...The Special Corp isn't anything like I imagined it to be. Maybe that's a good thing." You smile a little, but still feel somewhat uncomfortable towards Cecile with the memory of your Mother's suicide still floating around in your head.

"Well is there anything I can help you with?" Cecile asks as she starts to go back to organizing the boxes.

"I was told by Lloyd I should pick up the manuals for the Sutherland and Lancelot Club he also said I could get my uniform and my contact information from you."

"That sounds about right. Lloyd might technically be in charge here, but I'm the one who does most of the work to keep everything running smoothly. Not that that's a bad thing, Lloyd's better suited to research then maintenance or leadership." Cecile leaves for a moment, disappearing into the maze of shelves before returning with a large stack of paper back manuals and an orange uniform with a military barrette.

"This uniform will probably be loose on you, but if you give me your measurements I can have a uniform and pilot suit tailored for you." Cecile offered you the bundle and you graciously accept it, whispering your bodily measurements to the women.

She doesn't comment on your rather nice numbers and merely jots them down for later.

"So Cecile, how does someone like you end up working for a guy like Lloyd?" You ask.

"Well I was fresh out of university and looking for a project to cut my teeth on when I met Lloyd. At the time I heard about his eccentric attitude and behavior, but I also knew he was a genius. When I heard that he was assembling a team to develop a Seventh Generation Knightmare I couldn't think about anything but the work I'd be doing. However as time went on and people left the project, I grew somewhat attached to Lloyd." Cecile explains, sounding a little nostalgic as she speaks.

"Attached how?" You ask, rather confused on the relationship between Cecile and Lloyd.

"It's difficult to explain, but I've been with Lloyd for so long that I just don't think it would be right to just up and abandoned him, at this point I've come to consider him family if that makes any sense..."

"That's a rather touching way to put things." You say, struggling to hold onto all the manuals.

"Thank you. Is there anything else you need help with?"

"So, how well do you know Suzaku?"

"Suzaku? Well he's been a member of the Special Corp for a couple of months now and he's become an invaluable asset in testing the Lancelot. He's an excellent pilot and a rather sweet boy. Why? Are you wondering if he's single?" Cecile raises her eyebrow at you and you once again blush, frowning at the ridiculousness of being asked that twice in one day.

"W-why does everyone keep asking me that? I was just wondering what you thought of him." You say, wrapping all the manuals in your uniform so they're easier to carry.

"Suzaku's someone who's always doing what he believes is right. He doesn't believe you need to bend or break the rules to get things done. I think he's very strong and rather noble, but ever since the Princess became ill he's been rather lonely."

"The princess is sick? I didn't hear anything about that..."

Cecile shakes her head. "I shouldn't have said that, but yes Princess Euphemia is rather ill. Ever since the failure of the Special Administration Zone she's been having some difficulties with her health. It might not seem like it but Suzaku’s been incredibly upset ever since the Zone failed. I hope having someone like you working closely with him will lift his spirits.”

You can’t help but frown a little at that, remembering that you wanted to kill Suzaku just a little while ago. Shaking your head you ask about Pailsen.

“Dr. Pailsen? Yes he transferred here yesterday though I don’t know why a such a famous doctor would want a job aboard this ship, maybe he’s just looking for a nice and quiet position here?” Cecile just shrugs and goes back to work?

With your manuals and uniform in hand, and confirmation that the Pailsen on board is your Dr. Pailsen you decide on what to do next.

You take your uniform and all the manuals you got from Cecile back to your room. After dumping the stuff on your bed you leave your quarters and head to the infirmary which is surprisingly easy to find.

Entering inside you realize how surprisingly small the infirmary is, at least compared to the size of the ship it’s on. Though considering how small the crew is perhaps the size of the medical facilities is correct? Looking around you find the infirmary empty and barren of life, save for a single potted plant next to a nearby desk.

You turn to leave when you come face to face with a gray haired, disheveled figure standing directly behind you, one you failed to hear approach you.

Naturally surprised you jump back and shout, ready to draw your knife until you recognize the old man’s face.

“D-Dr. Pailsen! I thought you were a doctor, aren’t they supposed to keep people healthy? Not scare them half way to the grave?!?”

You glower at the Doctor who just laughs and waves his hands in mock surrender.

“I apologize, I have a habit of sneaking up on people, your father would be able to attest to that if he was still alive. It’s good to see your vocal cords still work properly though.”

“It’s good to see you Dr. Pailsen, but what are you doing here? How did you know I joining the Special Corp?”

"I got a job aboard this vessel so I could keep an eye on you. Your condition is rather sensitive and knowing it could worsen at any time was troubling. Now I'm at ease as with me so close by I can treat you or run tests to see if you're deteriorating or recuperating without the hassle of finding time off from your duties. As for how I knew, well...I have a few friends in the military who give me updates on your progress."

"You've been spying on me?" You ask with a frown.

"Shirley I'm a doctor and a friend of your father. You have an affliction that could very well make you forget how to breathe one day. I don't think making sure I know where you are and what unit you're joining counts as spying." Dr. Pailsen says with a flustered sigh.

"Still, why couldn't you just call me and ask?"

"Because you getting personal calls from a famous doctor would arouse suspicion. However this isn't the first time I've followed and researched soldiers with unusual afflictions before. I used to do this a lot in my youth, so the people who I get my information from merely think I'm chasing after another entry in the medical text books."

You consider that for a moment and guess it makes sense. Dr. Pailsen is famous and well respected, but from what you heard and from what he told you he was a bit of an asshole in his youth. It's better off if everyone thinks he's just studying you instead of actively helping you.

"I'd like to run some tests since you're here now. Before we begin can you tell me how you've been feeling since you first took your medication?"

"Huh? It's been almost a week since I took it, why do you want to know how I've felt? Are there lasting side effects?"

Pailsen shakes their head. "There shouldn't be, but I need to ask to make sure."

We seriously need to avoid him as much as possible though. We're the protagonist in a code geass so murphy's law is going to be against us at every turn. Odds are he sees us for more than a few minutes he'll know.

I think mao is dead mang.

doesn't really matter if he does. Our doctor happens to be on the ship he is often on, and it is more convenient that we go to him on the ship then it is for him to come see us. We can describe it as Suzaku being our escort to help us get by security.

>>36049019
Is he though? Because he only truly died in the 2 season, and we don't know if that has come to pass.

"I feel perfectly fine Dr. Pailsen, if anything I feel physically better then I have in quite a while. However lately I've been feeling very...emotional. When I'm in battle I just get so overwhelmed with feelings sometimes all I can do is think about how much I want to kill the enemy! And when it's over...I don't feel guilty about killing them."

Dr. Pailsen taps his chin and nods his head. "I doubt that's a side effect of the drug...unless some of your memories are being restored. Your emotional state could become erratic as you remember and experience your old memories as if they were new ones. However I don't like guessing these sort of things, let's get to some tests to see for sure."

"Alright, I swear you worry about me more then my own grandfather did." You say as you take a seat and get your arm ready for some blood taking.

“It’d be so much easier to not worry about you if you’d tell me about who you were convinced killed your father. He was killed in the Narita landslide, so you must be after one of the Black Knights, or maybe someone else was responsible... "

“Like I said before Dr. Pailsen, I don’t wish to talk about it. I don’t want anyone involved with this, you've already risked enough helping me so far…”

“Of course, of course. Your father would be proud at how protective you are of others, even as you hunt his killer."

Pailsen takes some blood, asks you a load of questions, has you do some memory exercise, and runs a myriad of other tests and scans on you. About an hours worth of work he comes back, looking over the results of your test with a rather pleased look on his face.

“After some thinking and consideration I think you should take your medication once a week as a preventative measure against anymore attacks.”

“Really? I thought you said-”

“That was just a precaution. Now that I’m so close by I can take any action if something goes wrong. Besides, despite the painful side effects of the drug it might ultimately help prevent any further memory loss on your part and might just restore some of your memories of your rampant emotions are connected to them like I believe."

“R-really?” You ask with a smile.

“It’s not a guarantee by any stretch of the word, but it’s better to try and fail than not to try at all. Just keep taking your medication and come see me every week for a check up. Your ‘condition’ is on the books, so if anyone asks why I’m seeing you so much try to play it off like I’m trying to make my way into the medical text books again by naming your ‘illness” The Doctor laughs at that and you can’t help but grin as well.

"I'm planning on going back to school again, if any of my friends call you could you tell them I'm still in therapy with you and that Suzaku's bringing me here for treatment?"

"Of course. In fact I know the Ashford Family personally, I could arrange some things with the school so you won't have any issues attending your duties here."

"Really? Thank you so much Dr. Pailsen!" You can't help but reach out and hug the hold man, actually causing him a bit of physical discomfort from the way he gasps.

After apologizing for grabbing him a bit too roughly you get a restock of your medication and are left to your own devices.

It's still fairly late, 10:00 PM, just two hours away till midnight. Is there anything you want to do or would you like read up on your manuals and head to bed?

Obligatory diary entry? dunno if it's possible, considering it's mostly about Shirley.
Oh, and if we do go to school we should always leave the diary on the Avalon.

Going back to your room you write a short diary entry, not much to add today that doesn't involve well, you, but you summarize the days events as best you can without giving out anything personal.

Stashing the diary away, you go to read over the manuals but think back on Suzaku. You're tempted to just read over your manuals and head to bed, but you feel you need to talk to Suzaku. Leaving your room you make you find Suzaku's quarters and knock on the door. After a few moments of waiting a sleepy eyed Suzaku comes to the door.

"Yes what is- Oh, hey Shirley..."

"Listen Suzaku I'm not entirely sure how I should feel about you. A part of me sees you as a friend and another part of me sees you as just some hypocritical prick. However...I appreciate that you're concerned about me and I apologize that I've had to mislead everyone. However what I'm doing isn't just for me, but for them as well. As long as Zero is still alive no on is safe, nothing is sacred, until he's dead I can't fall asleep without worrying I'll wake up and find someone else I love is dead."

Suzaku frowns but he doesn't speak out against you.

"But...thank you for not ratting me out. I know you probably don't agree with what I'm doing, but I'm not out to endanger innocent people. I'm only after Zero and the ones who follow him."

"Just remember what I said." Suzaku says as you're about to leave. "Sometimes death is exactly what people want. Killing isn't always the best revenge."

Thinking on that, you return to your room, skim through the manuals and then shoot up with your medication, becoming paralyzed and wracked with pain before slowly slipping off to sleep...

(And this is where I'll end things today! Again I apologize for not posting a link on Twitter, I got locked out of my account and I couldn't reset my password because of some bullshit with my cookies. I'll make sure beforehand my Twitter account is functioning before I start next week)
