The second that the ways of the rising sun hit your face, your eyes snap open. Be it because of your excitement about the various things that are coming up or just because you got a good night's sleep, you're filled with energy.

Hopping out of bed, you say hello to your sword for some reason before ducking into the bathroom to take a quick shower. On cold days like this, you really appreciate the hot running water... this is the kind of luxury that you never even dreamed of when you were little.

As you walk out into the hallway, you glance over in the direction of Marianne's room. She was still coughing pretty badly when you gave her those chocolates last night, and you can't help but wonder if she's doing better today.

And while you -could- simply walk next door and ask her yourself, something tells you that that's not a particularly good idea.

But maybe you could ask someone else? One of the servants... like Melanie?

After finding out the whereabouts of the (acting) head maid from one of the other servants, you make your way down to the main floor of the castle. Apparently she was last spotted by the library... and there she is!

"Hey, Melanie!" you call out, waving to her as you approach. "Good morning!"
"Eh!?" Startled, Melanie jumps a bit when she sees you coming. "O-oh, Reinhold," she sighs. "Good morning."

Melanie's a busy girl so you figure that it's probably best if you get to the point as quickly as possible.

"Umm, I was wondering if you happened to know if Marianne was feeling any better today," you say. "If she's not able to attend her classes today, that kind of thing."
"Ah, I can understand why you'd be concerned," Melanie nods. "She's coughing a lot less than she had been, so I think she'll be insisting on leaving her room today..."

And then her expression goes stern.

"...but if you think that her health is deteriorating at all, do whatever you have to in order to get her back into her room, okay?" Melanie says. "I spoke to her father about it yesterday, and he's fine with you forcibly carrying her to her room if need be."

Your only response is a nervous chuckle.

"Since you're the one who's around her for most of the day, I'm entrusting you with her health," Melanie says. "I'll do my part, but she's actually a fair bit stronger than I am so it's not like I'd be able to keep her from doing anything that she wants to."

While Melanie does have quite the imposing presence when she's angry, she -is- kind of... tiny. And the mental image of her trying to keep Marianne inside her room is just too funny not to laugh at.

"Reinhold, it isn't funny!" she says, stomping her foot and pouting.

Niklaus was the last "important" person in the castle who I really wanted you guys to meet. Aside from him, there was the head of the castle's medical staff and a female knight who I'd originally inteended to show up around when Anatole did but they never really got off the ground.
The quest has more than enough characters as it is, anyways.
