You are Nomad, a parasitic entity that serves as the leader of Able Squad aka Unable Squad, a team composed of seven misfit girls with more than a few problems. Your current Prime Host is one Lieutenant Rodney Watkins, a veteran of the Cryptid Wars. Your squad has been granted a brief vacation on Orbital Cityscape Little Downtown until 10 AM tomorrow while Command is conducting major internal and external investigations.

After looking through your home, you decided to visit the members of Able Squad while they are off-duty. After visiting a few others you checked in on Teza who was working on a machine named the XXYX Destuco Shipper, a FTL-capable mech oriented towards automated weaponry in order to escort its occupants.
After accepting Teza's request to take it for a test drive, your Host was knocked out as the Destuco accelerated into a tunnel. Currently, you're about to come to.

...
You're
starting to wonder if Rodney should just wear a helmet 24/7, maybe even welded.
You're also wondering how many dents they'd find if they scanned his skull.
At least he's waking up quickly, you can already feel your minds becoming one again.

There's a slight pain in the back of your head from slamming into the metallic chair. Surprisingly your back doesn't hurt, though you can feel a hard surface against it.
You open your eyes to the console in front of you, a very quiet humming emanating from it. Outside of the cockpit window is more or less pure darkness, the interior of the Destuco providing just enough light to barely make out a couple of the mech's armaments.
Turning your head you take a quick look at the chair you're sitting in. No visible safety measures whatsoever, not even a damn seat belt. At least you weren't sent flying all the way to the back of this damn thing.

A somewhat pleasant-sounding beep draws your attention back to the console. From the same screen Teza talked to you is a message in bold green text against a black background.
[This is the AI of Little Downtown. Your subordinate forgot to activate the Gravity-Movement Stabilization System.]
You rub your head as a new message is displayed seemingly the instant you finish reading.
[I apologize for the redirection LT. Watkins. However, I find that you and the Destuco Shipper to be convenient for brief pest removal. Best to consider this to be a favor repaid for the free ride. Feel free to respond verbally.]

>"Define 'pests'."
>"Convenient?"
>"Where exactly am I located?"
>"Mind sending me a layout of the controls?"
>[insert]

>"Define 'pests'."
>"Mind sending me a layout of the controls?"
Considering our memory, it's very likely we owe this AI some favors.
>>
>"Define 'pests'."
>"Mind sending me a layout of the controls?"

"Define 'pests'."
The screen takes a moment before a new message appears.
[A lower lifeform of non-sapience that complicates the lives of a higher, sapient lifeform. In this case, several malfunctioning drones and biodrones have been causing the occasional issue and I would like to deal with this matter quietly.]
"Bio-drones?" You ask.
[Drones with biological components. A highly unusual one happens the property of one of your subordinates.]
Ah, Shizi's drone URI.
"Mind sending me a layout of the controls?" You ask while looking at the rest of the console. Some knowledge would help.
[That will be unnecessary. The Destuco Shipper is intended for automated combat. In the event that its combat programming is insufficient I will take direct control of the vehicle.]
"So, what's my purpose?"
Another beep sound.
[Whatever you wish. Stay by this cockpit, go in the sleeping bag, dance, so on.]

So...
>You'll stay in the cockpit seat and watch the action like a normal person.
>Lie in the sleeping bag.
>Dance. You might remember some moves.
>Ask for the control layout again.
>>
>>35984223
>Ask for the control layout again.
The fact is that we have little else to do, and if the AI is unwilling to give us a chance to engage a manual override would be telling.
>>
>Ask for the control layout again.

Ignoring the AI's suggestions (like hell you're going to sleep) you ask for the layout again, keeping your voice calm.
"No thanks. Can you send me the layout of the controls?"
Politeness helps with machines right?

[Unnecessary.]
Nope. Maybe with a hint of forcefulness...
"Send me them."
[Unnecessary and inadvisable, you currently lack proper training.]
Screw subtlety.
"Alright, suit yourself." You reach your hands towards the console, taking a gamble.
[What are you doing?]
"Guess I won't know ahead of time what this button do,es what this joystick move, what the hell this lever made of gel supposed to do..."

In moments the Destuco is flailing and spinning about, randomly firing weapons. Seems the AI can't lock the controls.
[I CONCEDE LIEUTENANT.]
The message screen displays layout of the controls. A series of whirring noises emits from one part of the console and a moment later from a slot emerges a printout of the control layout.
Another beep draws your attention again.
[LT. Watkins, it is most irritating for me to say "please" but I shall ask that you allow automated control of the Destuco. The drones are dangerous.]

>"I'll be fine."
>"Alright then, I'll just nap or something."
>[insert option]
>>
>>35985881
>[insert option]
"Very well."
Read the instructions, let the AI control the Destuco for now. Bring up the targeting systems, navigation, and communications.
I want to get in touch with Teza and find out what drones we're targeting.
I don't want this to be a repeat of that unsanctioned mission we were on.
>>
Really goddamn hate to do this but I have to call it a night, tired out from some unavoidable distractions that came up over the past several powers.
Next time I'll try advertising in QTG again.
