Today is August 24th, UC 0084. You are Dominic O'Hara, a Commander in the Titans anti-terror organization and squadron leader of the “Grim Guard”, stationed aboard the SCV-82 Valkyrie which is itself stationed aboard the Nagato. During your last resupply in Londenion, many things happened. You arranged extra security for your family while you'll be out chasing Mars Zeon's raiders on the far side of the Earth Sphere, and were interrupted by a mental plea from the Sisters.

You, Haman, and Rossweisse found yourselves pulled into a dark carnival crafted out of your fears and doubts by an empty void in the universe in the shape of a man. This “Hollow Man” interfered with the Sisters' message from the outside, and forced you and your companions to face your deepest and most dreaded fears to reach them: Haman's fear of her own ambition and will to power, seen in her 'shadow-self' taking over the world and dropping colonies on dissenters. Rossweisse's fear of people sacrificing themselves for her, seen clearly in the gruesome deaths of her parents as they tried to protect her as a child during the war.

And of course, your own deepest fear: that of your perceived powerlessness to prevent simple human brutality from claiming the lives of those you love. But you didn't need to air that out in front of anyone: after all, the carnival itself had been set up in the shadows of your old school, still appearing on the nightmarish landscape as it did after being damaged in the war.

Seeing that you understood this, the Hollow Man grudgingly allowed you to pass.
(1/2)
>>
>>35898006
As for who or what created this dream for you? Well, you don't really know who or what the Hollow Man was, nor his apparent opposite. But then again, does anyone really know how the psychic phenomena that manifest between you and your several lovers actually work? The universe is a big place: big enough to contain things that defy understanding, like the Hollow Man and his globular, white opposite.

What you CAN understand is the reason for the Sisters' original message, which you finally heard from them after driving off the Hollow Man. As it turned out, one of the guards Carya and Catrina took with them to meet their parents' “representatives” had been compromised, and sold them out to a group of mercenaries working for Riah to capture Newtypes for study. They were holding her captive and waiting for extraction when you and your team infiltrated their safehouse.

Though they all quickly and quietly died under a hail of your team's bullets, or at the end of your knife, or even throttled between Carrina's bare hands, it won't undo the damage they did when they captured her. Carya and Catrina's spirits remain unbowed, but Artesia quickly determined that Carya's left eye was damaged too badly to be saved and was forced to remove it.

Which isn't to say it's slowed them down at all. After three days' rest, Carya turns up in the ready room with a patch over her left eye, and crashes on the couch next to you right in the middle of a meeting.

“Sup?” she greets, leaning back quite comfortably into your arms.

“Should you be here?” Karen asks, eying the patch.

Defrah shrugs. “It's just an eye, right?”

Catrina nods in agreement. “It's not like I'm half-dead or something. I'll be fine.”

“Enough to pilot?” Audrey presses, concerned.

“Barely use 'em anymore anyway.”

Now that I think of it, has the Feds and Titans received anymore telemetry data as to where exactly Axis is moving? Is it moving towards the Earth Sphere or the outer solar system?
>>
>>35898532

it should be in mar's orbit by now.
>>
>>35898685
It was making a hard burn out of Mars orbit actually. Hence the curiosity of which way Panini was traveling. Earth Sphere or Jupiter.
>>
>>35898101
"Well, that's good enough for me," you reply. "Good enough for you, Karen?"

Your Captain nods. "If you think she's fit to pilot, who am I to judge?"

"Good, but promise me one thing?" Carya cocks her head, training her one good eye on you.

"At least TRY to take it easy."

The Sisters' face splits into a smile. "Sure. Will do, Commander."

"Alright, so where were we?" Emma asks aloud. "Something about Riah being backstabbing bastards?"

Catharine passes around a set of files, which you and your teams pour over intently. They're a mix of schematics for mobile armors and pdf printouts: one of which seems to place a rather sizable bounty on live Newtypes.

"I know, right?" Reiko agrees with your silent assessment of the situation... the look on your face must have given your thoughts on the matter away.

"These were an internal memo," Catharine tells you. "We can't say for sure how many people in the Riah government know about it."

"I'm half inclined to send this along to Titans," Karen tells you. "It'll make a hell of a big stink, and probably turn Newtype research into a political third rail for a while."

"Can't be a bad thing, then," Audrey agrees, resting her chin against her knuckles.

"Anyone see a problem with having ALICE just send the data to Titans?"

"There is quite a bit in the way of personal emails between the mercenaries and the conservative politicians backing them," ALICE adds from one of the terminals behind your head.

"Nothing else official?" Roberto asks.

You see ALICE's red-headed avatar appear on the view screen across from you, shaking her head as her body seems to shimmer with an update. "Aside from this memo, no."

How good are the republics contacts in Riah? Any chance they could handle this semi-quietly in the interest of not giving the Feds an example of an action by an independent Spacenoid government that they will definitely use to smear the Republic by association.
>>
>>35898818
>>Send it to Titans
>>
>>35898818
"We'll send it off anonymously to Space CNN, Fox, and BBC. Leak it anonymously on Space Twitter and Spacebook. With a bit of sockpuppeting from ALICE, we can make enough stink in the public to force the politicians backing this to quietly resign or hurriedly change their positions.
>>
>>35898818
>Send it to Titans

Make sure to keep an ear out on what Titans do about this information... If they plan a big raid or such, we might want to send in our Second Team to 'assist' and insure that any kidnapped Newtypes are safely extracted... Titans might decide that they want to continue Riah's research...
>>
>>35898818

>Don't send it yet: no need to add tension

So this is a choice of either making Newtype research politically more acceptable yet visible, or political suicide yet completely underground.

I'll go with not sending it, so that when the time comes where we can fully focus ourselves on the issue, we'll have a lot less of a horrible task tracking all of these people down instead of driving them to more illegal or underground forms of establishment and funding.
>>
>>35898818
>Send it to Titans
>>
>>35899013
Its kidnap. its already underground and illegal.
>>
>>35898956
>How good are the republics contacts in Riah?
Mediocre. Riah doesn't really like the idea of associating with the Republic (because the name Zeon is involved).

>Any chance they could handle this semi-quietly
Depends on how Cima would want to handle it.

>giving the Feds an example of an action by an independent Spacenoid government
The feds know they're not much better.
>>
>>35898818
>Don't send it yet: no need to add tension
Yeah, I'm actually in favor of newtype R&D. Just not the retardedly antiethical way they tend to go about it.
>>
>>35898818

>Send it to Titans
But also to allot of media outlets. That way the Titans don't have the ability to hush it up if they want to.
>>
>>35899040
So's Dom. The issue is that fact that they are going on about in a retardedly anti-ethical way. Honestly we should see about doing it our selves and getting our family involved if we ever take them off the colony.
>>
>>35898818
>Send it to Titans
I don't want to give the Titans any fodder for their anti-Spacenoid agenda, but we can't just let this go. If Riah is willing to take the risks of kidnapping Federation officers in the name of expanding their military, they're probably seeing conflict as inevitable. They wouldn't chance it, otherwise. Best to cut this off here and now. As for how it will affect the public perception of Newtype research...well, that's trickier. On the one hand, it'll cut down on the unethical research practices. But it'll also make it harder for legitimate Newtype research to happen. Then again, all of our Newtypetechnology was developed in-house, so it might not hurt us so bad. I say we do it.
>>

We still know shit all about how newtype abilities work. We don't even know that newtypes can have highly special skills.

>>

That's the point. Stop questioning and DO IT. We don't know until someone tries. Hell, Audrey could have a machine affinity. Rosseweisse could be sitting on a Reality Marble. Dominic is obviously a Pornomancer/Thrallherd with 2 additional dice for women, but that's all we know. Sitting aside time just to experiment is something that needs to be done.
>>

"Roberto's on to something here. We gotta identify which places and persons within Riah we need to take out first before submitting the info to the Titans. Who's up for an infiltration mission?"
"Apolly. Roberto. Ready the Rick Dias— I mean your Barzams."
>>
>>35898818
"The Federation needs to know what's going on with Riah," you sigh. "So ALICE, send Titans the data, but send it around the regular media outlets too. And try to make sure it's obvious that the Republic wasn't involved."

"Very well, Commander. Captain." ALICE replies politely, bowing her head as she disappears to go handle the task.

"Alright, one more thing before we can take a break," Karen announces. "Noel, where exactly are we?"

Lieutenant Anderson's brown eyes flick downward to the dataslate in her lap. "We're a day out of Luna II."

"And how close will Luna II be to where the raids were reported?" Haman inquires.

Noel takes a second to check. "Within another week's cruise to the centroid," she replies, meaning the centerpoint between the reported raid locations. "Captain Joshua's idea was to start our search there."

"It only made sense," Karen replies. "The raids' locations didn't seem to follow any pattern time-wise, so my guess is they have a base somewhere. Only issue is it's thousands of kilometers between all the sites."

"Could be am orbiting debris cloud," Audrey suggests.

Carya nods in agreement. "Zeon was using some of the Amirs and Atens during the war... Apophis, Mithra, and one of the numbered ones, I think."

"True enough," you agree. "Any of the larger bodies among the Earth-crossers could make an excellent mobile base for a small strike force."

"Or they could have sent a fleet," Haman suggests.

"How could they keep a fleet hidden?" Emma asks skeptically.

"Commerce," Rosse reminds her.

Also true... they could have hidden themselves as a freighter as well.

Karen glances over at you, seemingly curious as to your thoughts.

"I've got an idea," she tells you when you make eye contact. "But I'll let you go first."
>Focus your search on large Earth-crossing asteroids
>Focus on a "family" of asteroids that may be in the area
>Focus on the local shipping traffic
>Other?

Remember, there's a massive number of targets involved.
>>
>>35899227
They're variations of the Dendrobium II. They're bigass weapons platforms that make up for the lack of numbers Riah can sortie by virtue of overwhelming firepower and extended patrol/cruise times.
>>
>>35899580
>>Focus on a "family" of asteroids that may be in the area
>>
>>35899580
"Local shipping seems unlikely. If mobile suits were launching from a freighter then it would have been reported by eyewitnesses. Asteroids, once again, seem unlikely. Federation and private companies would have set up mining operations on them. In addition, a seismic beacon placed would alert any outside observer to intrusion."

"I'm thinking we have a team actively moving from location to location. Check the local records for derelict Federation and Zeon ships in the area. Look for missing salvage crews that did not report back after heading for a wreck or debris field. We can start our search there."
>>
>>35899580
>Focus your search on large Earth-crossing asteroids
They'd need a relatively large asteroid to sink their thermal emissions in. Even with Minovsky interference, it's still possible to spot a base at range from the heat it produces. You need mass if you're going to hide that.
>>
>>35899580
>>Focus on a "family" of asteroids that may be in the area
>>
>>35899580
>>Focus your search on large Earth-crossing asteroids
>>
>>35899580
On one hand, asteroids don't emit M-Particles so it's easier to search them with the MPIWS, but we might not hit pay dirt in a while.
On the other hand, local shipping is a time honored hunting ground for pirates, so it's very likely for them to operate in those areas and thus have higher chances of intercepting them. Dunno if we can tune in to the shipping lane chatter either, due to Minovsky interference.

>Focus on the local shipping traffic
Why not disguise the Valk as a bulk freighter? Or is that too much to ask of Karen?
>>
>>35899853
It's pretty clearly a mobile suit carrier. The modifications would need to be extensive.

You could do it, but it'd take forever and a day to finish.
>>
>>35899853
Technically, the Nagato is a bulk freighter. A bulk freighter of a type no longer in service, that's been heavily modified to serve as an ersatz warship, but a bulk freighter.
>>
>>35899580
Did we hear anything from those shipments we were tracking?

If they are using traffic to hide their ships, one of the ships with the tracking device will light up for us.
>>
>>35899853
Even more of a reason to check derelict warships. The team could bleed off the helium and propellant stores on the Musai and Magellan wrecks to restore their stocks. Plus a leaking Minovsky reactor could easily cover the emissions of an active mobile suit or armor reactor.
>>
>>35899580
So we're pretty much split between larger Earth-crossers, which could hide a large ship, or a smaller cluster of asteroids that are co-orbiting. The latter could easily hide smaller ships.

Five minutes, link back to this post and place a 1 or a 2 right below the link. No other text

"Well, if it were my call..." you begin, as Defrah looks at you hopefully. "... I'd probably hide out in a group of smaller asteroids. A few ships of a couple hundred meters each could disappear among some of the families of Amirs or Apollos."

Defrah's hopeful smile disappears. "It could get a bit hairy," she reminds you.

"I've got faith," you reassure her. "Between your piloting and ALICE's gunnery, we should be able to handle things."

"Speaking of piloting," Defrah continues, "I know you're fond of the Nagato. I like 'em big too sometimes, but there's a time and a place. And dodging asteroids isn't it."

You nod. "You're thinking we take the Valkyrie in close and use the Nagato as support."

"Right."

"Karen? You have any issues with that?"

Your Captain shrugs. "Who'd be in charge of the Nagato while we're gone?"

"I can fly a ship," ALICE's sweet voice offers helpfully.

"Let the AI handle the whale."

I was thinking we could run triangulation. Nagato takes one corner of the search, Val Varo and Second Team take another. Valkyrie and us take the third. We run them down by eliminating the places they could hide if our search of the asteroids prove fruitless.

Another thing, the Zeon team could have a base on the moon and be funneling off supplies from Luna II. Kelley had a similar setup on Von Braun after all..

She can handle it for now, but we should acquire a backup bridge crew. I have faith in ALICE, but I also have a strong belief in redundancy.
>>
>>35900579
Let's just say, actually playing the game and doing some background work helps.
>>
>>35900376
“Whaddya say, ALICE?” you ask. “Want to take over on the Nagato for a while? Can you manage?”

“Mhm!” she informs you enthusiastically. “I have unlimited access to weapons, navigation, sensors, helm, lighting, and environmental control...”

At that last item, several heads turn nervously towards the AI's terminal.

“... I read in my spare time, Commander, Captain,” ALICE explains. “Specifically, all the works of Bradbury, Asimov, and Clarke. I know that rogue machines are a favorite topic of human entertainment, so I did not access any vital systems so as not to alarm you.”

“But you DO have access to them?” Karen presses.

“Affirmative, among many other secondary systems which are too numerous to list in full.”

A long list of systems, most of which are trivial or at least non-vital, scroll slowly across the screen behind ALICE's avatar.

“Good,” you confirm. “But I'd still like to get all our bridge team to train on both ship's setups. I have faith in ALICE, but redundancy never hurts.”

“Alright,” Karen concludes. “The plan will be to sortie the Valkyrie with a full bridge staff and skeleton crew. Second Team, including the Val Varo, will coordinate with the Valkyrie and Nagato to sweep whatever targets we find, then First will sortie to eliminate them. Sound good?”

Your various teams seem to agree immediately to the plan.

“Good. Meeting adjourned... Reiko, get me the notes in full by tonight.”

“Yes'm,” Reiko replies, folding her notebook of shorthanded scribbles shut.

Rosse struggles as you add the fourth funnel to the mix, and Audrey struggles just as much to keep up with her.

"ALICE? How are their brainwaves looking?" you ask loudly after switching your mic off.

The 3D image of ALICE flickers in what you suppose is the digital equivalent of a sigh. "Lieutenant April is unimproved from yesterday's readings. Lieutenant Junior Grade Rossweisse's brainwave output is slowly improving: however my estimates suggest she will be unable to continue maneuvering the fourth funnel while continuing to evade with her own machine."

You shake your head, leaning back into Carya's arms. "You can call them by their first names, you know."

"Affirmative. However I find an air of professionalism helps others accept my participation. Not everyone among this crew is as accepting as you are, Dominic."

You shrug, and continue watching the mock battle over the large projector in the officer's lounge on the Nagato.

“You're thinking too much,” you scold Audrey. “A normal ace anticipates using reason and experience, a wet behind the ears Newtype reads the instruction manual once and feels their way from there. You're both, so use both! Think AND feel!”

“Same goes for you, Rosse! Commanding the funnels is more than half about instincts!”

Haman sits quietly behind you, simply feeling the maneuvering pilots with her mental senses. Her pinkish-blonde hair is bowed in deep concentration.

“Rosse,” Catrina adds. “Think of it like driving a car on the ice...”

“She's never done that,” Carya interjects.

Catrina shrugs their shoulders behind you. “Whatever. It's not important to the point. The POINT is that you only need to do one thing at once. Keep your senses open, and either move your funnels, attack, or move your suit. Then switch focus. But don't try and do everything at once, or you'll lose control!”

Over the next several minutes, both Rossweisse and Audrey seem to improve noticeably.

“Good,” you tell them as the exercise concludes. “Come back in, refresh yourselves, and we'll run one more.”

“Roger.”

“We'll land in about thirty seconds. Support team, prepare to refuel.”

Carya pats your stomach from behind with her hands. “So, what now?”

You slowly shift your way towards the Sisters' left side, intending to take full advantage of her blind spot and to test how well she fights without the eye on that side. When you feel the time is right, and you're sure they can't see you, you strike.

Your right hand easily finds Carya's left asscheek, giving it a firm but playful squeeze. For her part, she makes no effort to stop you, and actually cracks a smile... before striking back.

A quick strike of her left hand to your right wrist knocks your hand away from that sweet derriere, and it's followed by a backhanded slap from the same hand. At no point does Carrina turn her head to face you.

"I'm flattered you find my ass so irresistible," she admits, "but please try to take this seriously."

"Right," you reply, barely able to stop a fast kick from her left leg in time.

With your arm around her knee, you step in to throw your right elbow at Carrina's ribs, but find your strike blocked by her own left elbow: all without the Sisters being able to see you.

After locking in that position for a second or two, Carrina lifts herself up and places her right foot against your hips before pushing off.

You come to rest several meters apart from each other after drifting into the deck.

With an increased wariness, you move your way back into Carrina's blindside as a curious crowd begins to gather, including Haman, Audrey, and Rosse.

Near a desk you find a wooden broom, and lift it. Again, Carrina isn't turning to face you. What you're planning may not be nice, or honorable, but you reckon you have to know for sure. So you close in a little, and chuck the broom at her.

And she catches it without turning.

She spins the broom around with her right hand with a flourish, and gestures to you with her left.

"C'mon," she tells you, and you oblige.

Rushing forward you dodge and weave all around the broom as Carrina swings and thrusts expertly at you with it, until you can pin it between your arms and ribs where you snap it in two with a palm strike.

Now that both of you are armed, you strike and parry at each other for several seconds, neither of you able to gain advantage. Finally, you step away from each other, sensing that the point has been demonstrated.

"Okay," you ask breathlessly. "How'd you do it?"

Carya is just as tired out as you are. "My left eye can still see... it just doesn't see the same things as my right eye."

"... you can see the future?" you realize, astonished. Haman and Audrey are nonplussed.

Carya, however, merely nods. "Just a second or two... but yes. It seems to have evolved out of our natural ability to sense danger, though now I see much greater detail than before."

August 29th, UC 0084.

You sit patiently in the cockpit of the Lilium, listening to the reports back from Second Team and the Nagato as your ships prowl around a nameless cluster of asteroids, spinning in a slow orbit a few tens of thousands of kilometers out from the Earth/Moon L3 point.

"We've got movement!" Emma announces. "Mobile suits, three of 'em! ALICE, confirm type!"

ALICE's vice from the Nagato almost sounds worried. "Unknown, they seem to be GM variants."

"They're not responding to our hails," Reiko reports.

"Keep trying," Karen orders, "Defrah, get us in range to support!"

Defrah laughs nervously. "Don't blame me if it's a bit bumpy!"

The Nagato is a whale of a ship. Sortie now and treat the incoming suits as hostile. Keep the Val Varo in reserve to engage any suits that slip through Second Team's net or to engage and breakup a second assault while the other team is engaged.

Don't commit fully yet.
>>
>>35904869
The Val Varo is part of Second Team: basically, it's everyone but the two Lilium-Ikebana machines.

As per the earlier plan, you're aboard the Valkyrie right now, and ALICE is handling the Nagato.
>>
>>35904915

Slave Wraith contacts you upon leaving the asteroid field: they have one of the new escort carriers, as it turns out. The ship is literally half a Columbus class with a "flight deck" on top, and a cramped couple of decks between that and the hangars below. A miserable ship to serve on, but quite efficient. Its standard compliment is eight mobile weapons.

"So," the captain of the mystery ship addresses Karen. He's an older man, haggard and gray with lines all over his grim face.

"So," Karen repeats. "You're looking for the mystery raiders."

"Aye," the older captain replies. "And they're not here. We've been searching nearby clusters for three days now."

"Any clues as to where they might be?" Karen replies carefully.

The man shrugs. "Could be a larger asteroid."

"Is that the best you can do?"

"Aye. I'll send you some of our data."

Karen quickly gestures to Reiko and Catharine, who prepare to handle the data transfer.

Huh. Color me surprised. I would've assumed there's several dead space hulks floating in this sector for salvage crews to gut. Looking into missing persons and the local paper for said persons could've pointed us in a general direction to track their movements.

But alas, that's a dead end now. Maybe. The Moonbase isn't off the table though. They've gotta get their propellant from somewhere.

It's on the wrong side of the Earth Sphere. Most of the colonies are at L1 and L2, which are on either side of the Moon, and L4 and L5, which are the largest areas of "stability". L3 is opposite the Earth in its orbit, and you're investigating objects that rarely breach Earth orbit at all and are beyond L3.

During the war, L3 was also the least populated area of the Earth Sphere due to its remote location.

I doubt the CO of the Penal Division will give us a straight answer about the conditions of the prisoners...

We do still need to see if Titans are capable of doing Penal Divisions correctly without mistreating the convicts... Though we'd need to get that from the cons themselves. Find out what the deal for service is, what the living conditions are like... that kind of thing...

"Tell him off nicely," you warn Ilya in a low voice. As she takes center stage Haman catches your eye, and quickly disappears off the bridge. A little display ALICE overlays onto a nearby screen for you shows she's heading for the hangar...

"How many of your men are prisoners?" Ilya demands.

For some reason, the Captain seems willing to respond: either he genuinely wants her to know, or he's just being overly confrontational.

"All of our pilots save one, and half the rest of the crew. The others are mainly Military Police."

"And this is sanctioned?" Ilya presses. "On whose authority?"

"On Titans' authority," the old man replies. "I'm under no obligation to tell you anything else."

"And so you'll just throw these soldiers into the grinder till they die, I suppose?"

The Captain nods. "That is the general idea, yes. Now if you're quite done, I have several missions to pursue and new pilots to pick up... this last batch dropped like flies against the Principality remnants."

Ilya barely manages to keep from shouting obscenities long enough for the Captain to cut the communications line. She's left stunned by the interaction: she's used to how you deal with prisoners, no doubt. It probably just occurred to her how unusual her circumstances are, and how close she's probably come on numerous occasions to being as comprehensively screwed as Slave Wraith's pilots.

While she's still fighting for you, there IS after all a difference: you expect her to come back when she's done, rather than expecting her to die for you.

"We have their data," Reiko offers. "They're on the level: none of the asteroid clusters around here seem to be what we're looking for."

Defrah even takes the unusual measure of accelerating past the escort carrier rather than turning around, but it's no use. Haman radios the bridge as the Valkyrie returns to dock with the Nagato.

"Sorry," she tells you. "I couldn't sneak a tracker onto their hull without a serious risk of it being detected."

"You tried," you reassure her. "Tricks like that won't always work... we'll just have to find them again later the old fashioned way."

Ilya walks past you, clearly frustrated at the whole experience, but pauses to speak with you.

"Thank you, Commander. For indulging me just now, and for everything else."

"Of course," you reply. "We'll deal with Slave Wraith at some point, I think. So don't worry too much that we lost today, alright? We'll win in the end."

Back aboard the spacious bridge of the Nagato, your teams turn their attention to a list of minor planets and large asteroids in this area of space that could hide a Zeon vessel.

There are so many of them, but it has to be one that's fairly large to confuse normal sensors into thinking it's all one object. It has to be moving at the right speed, in the right location... everything has to be juuuust right...

"THEY ALL LOOK THE FUCKING SAME!" Karen shouts after several minutes.

"I hate to say it," Audrey admits morosely, "but I can't see any reason to pick one of these over any other."

Haman and the Sisters have simply remained silent, and Rosse has gone off to grab a pot of coffee. Even ALICE is muttering to herself about "search parameters".

Then it hits you: a bolt from the blue.

"3200 Phaethon," you declare, sliding the dossiers on several objects clear of the screen to reveal an old image of the object in question. "It's one of the few large bodies that crosses Mars, Earth, Venus, AND Mercury on a short enough orbit, and it's big enough to hide a ship."

Your teammates stare at the image of Phaethon for a moment.

"It's like a natural ticket into the inner Solar system," Haman mutters.

Karen cocks an eyebrow. "It's the best we've got. Punch it in, Defrah. ALICE, get Defrah any navigational data she may need, and the rest of you should get to work."

September 1st, UC 0084.

As you close in on Phaethon, the sensors aboard the Nagato pick up a ship hiding on the far side of the asteroid. On average the body is about 5 kilometers across, and it's fairly well rounded. So looping around Phaethon in a two-kilometer long ship seems like it'd leave you vulnerable.

You can also sense the same thing your Newtype teammates can: there's at least one powerful Newtype on that ship.

Karen keys her comm to speak with you. “What're you thinking? Keep Second in reserve?”

“Yeah,” you agree. “Sortie everyone, then send 'em in if we get into trouble.”

“Roger, I'll tell them.”

“Gundams Lilium III and Viola III,” you hear Miyu's voice announce. “Cats are prepped, load up. I'll be your operator this time.”

“Got it,” you reply, launching headlong out of the Nagato's port side and regrouping with the Sisters and Audrey, who launched from the starboard.

“Five kilometers and closing,” Miyu informs you, and your keen senses are already telling you that the Newtype, or Newtypes, you will be facing have been alerted to your presence. Strange, though...

“They seem confused,” Haman notes. “Barely even aggressive. More playful, even.”

“Second Team sortied,” Miyu informs you. “Standing by.”

“Call us when you need us,” Emma adds.

“Establishing visual,” Carya announces as a single Chivvay-class ship comes into view, hanging close to the far side of Phaethon.

The ship quickly opens up with its cannons as it disgorges its mobile suits: the former are a mix of slow, inaccurate particle cannons that are too few to pose any serious risk, along with machine cannons that would hardly scratch your Lilium's paint even if they hit you. But the mobile suits are five modified Gelgoog machines with broad, thruster-laden shoulders and a trio of familiar black suits: Tusche Scwartz units, each modified with large particle cannons on their shoulders.

Their pilots feel similar to each other, at least to your mind... possibly sisters, and they regard you with that same curiosity as they send out a wave of funnels which dart around without firing.

“Weird,” Rosse observes nervously.

"Haman," you encourage your Newtype copilot. "Send out your funnels, but don't shoot."

Quietly, she obeys your rather strange order. You can feel Carrina and Rosse following your lead as well. Your machines' funnels are slightly longer, and more cylindrical compared to the tapered, almost floral-looking funnels sent out by the Zeon machines. They dance back and forth for several long seconds, little trails of compressed gas marking their adjustments. A pair swirl in a tightly-matched duet, another group form a wagon-wheel and dogfight between your mobile suits. For a time, nobody shoots.

You can feel the pilots of the three Tusche Schwartzes following with rapt attention, and a mix of curiosity and playful enthusiasm.

It's not to last, however, as one of the Gelgoogs takes a potshot...

"Unclear," Rosse replies.

Haman is too focused on moving her remote weapons into firing positions on the Gelgoogs, when you're suddenly confronted by a stark realization: one of the three Tusche Schwartzes just unloaded its cannons at the first Gelgoog that fired.

The Purus are what, nine years old right now? Probably younger, given that their growth was accelerated, but I'm not sure how that would affect their emotional development. Point is, we're going to have to be very careful in handling them. Between the natural sociopathy of youth and whatever brainwashing they received, they probably don't have a very good sense of empathy. As cute as it seems for us, they shot at their allies because they interrupted play time. Kind of worrying. I'm sure we'll be able to turn them around, but I think it'll cause trouble at first.

Ah. I thought each set of three were for the Puru's since newtypes get to roll three rolls each and have the best taken from them.
>>
>>35908812

>>
>>35908848
It varies on how powerful the newtype is. For a while Audrey was getting two, and for a while Rosse got two.

Since the Purus are naturally disposed towards working together, all three of them are using the highest of their rolls for all three of their rolls: meaning if one of the first three rolls was a 99, they'd all act as if they got a 99.

You point your rifles downrange towards the enemy, but find that there's probably no need.

Funnels are swarming the Gelgoogs from every angle now: Haman's, Rosse's, Carrina's, those of your unnamed enemies... friends... frenemies. Whatever they are right now. Each beam tears away at the Gelgoogs, assisted by the constant fire of the backpack cannons on the Tusche Schwartzes and the stream of fire from Carrina's rifle.

The five Gelgoogs are stripped to their component parts and melted into slag without even requiring you to fire... though two of the pilots who helped accomplish it are feeling relieved at your desire to help, and the third feels skeptical, but doesn't strike you as inclined to ask questions in the middle of a battle.

Now that its own friendly mobile suits are gone, and the three Newtype machines have apparently turned on them, the crew of the Chivvay has resumed its ineffectual fire. The saturation barrage is meant to hit any and all of your machines, without distinction of Zeon or Federation.

The Tusche Schwartz pilots feel even more betrayed at this turn of events, and prepare to swarm the Chivvay next...

“Zeon pilots,” you announce over a laser burst, “concentrate on their weapons and comm arrays. No need to kill them all.” Despite further confusion and hesitation from the trio, they seem to comply and focus their shots on ruining the AA turrets on the Chivvay. Your own guns hit the triple turrets aft and fore, ruining them in one shot each.

“Zekes firing on each other,” you mutter to Haman. “ALICE better be getting this.”

When the Chivvay is completely out of options, you demand the ship's surrender... which the surviving officers are quick to deny you, maneuvering to ram into your team and probably self-destruct.

Unfortunately for them, doing so brings them into view of the Nagato's guns. One full broadside of twenty-four mega particle cannons obliterates Phaethon and leaves the Chivvay a shattered and burning hulk. A few of the more sensible crew seem to have evacuated... you'll need to remember to have someone pick them up later. It's not their fault their commanding officers were suicidal fanatics.

The empathy in that sentiment catches the three Zeon pilots off guard as they drift in the void, wondering what to do now.

“Come with us,” Carrina insists. “You've got nowhere else to go, and you did us a good turn. Let us return the favor.”

>>
>>35909442
Fine, then. Bakunetsu God Finger, you happy? I said the "Erupting Burning" version because the guy said "Shining Burning". It was for consistency, that's all.
>>
>>35909495
>>35909510
I'm pretty sure he would consider them way to young for him by that time.

Poor Purus, the people they once trusted turned on them.
>>
>>35909530
Depending on how matured our Newtype powers are by that point, Dom might not be capable of keeping them off him. He literally attracts Newtype women from the woodwork or bulkheads.
>>
>>35909572
i think they are to young to feel that way for us, so the "attraction" might manifest as onii-san platonic love
>>
I'm literally running on a 10 minute nap since I woke up about 29 hours or so ago, got off a shit boring day at work, I'm literally about to pass out once I lay my head down at all, and your ass has to keep me up with Cute Imoutos.

Fuck you KoH you bastard you
>>
>>35909572
The funny is that that isn't Dom's newtype ability. It's just something he seems to do. Honestly I think his ability involves ghosts or something considering he noticed Goto's when he killed him.

Will she be an adopted Puru and go around the ships screaming PURUPURUPURUPURUPURU? Hopefully NOT while naked...
>>
>>35909598
It'll be closer to Artesia when they grow older. They'll see us as that really cool uncle who fights Nazis.

>>35909629
I don't know anymore. I'm still going off the theory we're a psionic force multiplier and tuning fork for fellow Newtypes we've Social Linked.
>>
>>35909572
That's why we need to take Banagher as an apprentice, He can handle the Newtype girls that are too young for us. Kamille, too, so that he'll know how to handle things with Cyber-Newtype ladies.
>>
>>35909676
Now that I think about it I wouldn't be surpised to find out that the Ple's had some of Minerva's dna in them.
>>35909683
Actually I could see Artesia hooking up with Dom considering that before she got together with Amuro it was more of a brotherly sister love between them. On what else you said we have word of GM that dom's newtype power is the same as someone from canon.
>>
>>35909694
fuck I just saw the ep where 4 bites it for real fucking blondy
>>
>>35909683
Social links, heh I joked about that earlier this thread but it's rather like a Persona game with all the different relationships with multiple beautiful women. Hell Minerva = Nanako even.

I hope binge gaming on P4G for the past few days and this thread doesn't cause me to have fucked up dreams once I pass out
>>
>>35909710
It's a classic case of escalation. Kamille killed three people important to Jerid. so Jerid had to kill Four.

Banana is still to young but Kamille will soon be ripe and ready to become the Diciple of the O'Hara school

Hey was P4 good? I liked P3 but haven't played any others and people seem to hate P3 and P4

"You'll be safe on our ship," you promise them. "We take care of lots of our former enemies... some of them even end up as our comrades and friends."

"I tried to kill him when we first met," Carya shares with a laugh. "And now look at us."

"What do you say?" you press gently.

There are a few moments that go by where the three pilots seemingly argue among themselves before reaching a consensus. A soft, feminine, almost child-like voice replies to your offer, with stern words and a stern tone that seem far too old for her.

"Thanks for the kind offer. I don't trust you, but my sisters are right: we've got no choice, really. So please take care of us for now."

Satisfied, you lead the trio of black suits past your Second Team, who screen for the Nagato as rescue teams sortie in your compliment of base jabbers to recover any survivors from the wrecked Chivvay, and guide your guests into the port hangar.

You dismount your machine with the rest of your team, and stride across the cavernous hangar to meet these three strange young pilots. To your surprise, they quickly remove their helmets.

Long orangish-red hair, all the same color. The same purplish-blue eyes, the same height, the same modest build. They're at least a head shorter than you, and some uncertain number of years younger than Rossweisse or Haman were when you met them. Or possibly the same... who can tell for sure at that age?

But they look more than similar, you realize: they look the same. They FEEL the same to you, as if they all shared the same Newtype presence.

The only way you can tell them apart as they stare back at you are the numbers marked on the padded sleeves of their otherwise tight-fitting pilot suits: 7, 9, and 12.

I'm now imaging a Camille that's raging like a mofo, has a Harem of his own AND is pulling that Hokuto No Ken shit with Zeta (Or was that with Zeta in ZZ?)
>>

I haven't finished but I work 8 hour days, bought the game on last Saturday and I got approximately 40-42 hours worth into it.

'Nuff said. The Golden version (think P3 FES) is a bit more laid back and casual, but it's still got some great story and characters. Dungeons are slightly hit or miss, but still it's a very solidly made game
>>
Well we have Marida Cruz. Also please don't let them be close to dom in age physically.
>>
>>35909770
And once again, Haman, Audrey, Rosse, and the Sisters start laughing hysterically at Dominic bringing more women onto the ship.

I wonder how much money is exchanging hands right now amongst the crew over Dominic bringing yet more enemy pilots onboard.
>>
>>35909821
Contuning my post depending how mature they are it would be really awkward if they try to sleep with Dom
>>
>>35909614
And I'm practically dead myself, so I'm calling it a night here. I can't even really stay awake to answer questions, I think, so if you have any go ahead and post em here, and I may respond to some of them next weekend.

Hope you enjoyed the ride as much as I enjoyed writing it: I'm glad to finally have the Purus in the story. It means we're getting to the point where shit starts hitting the fan again, and in large quantities.

So the archive is up, and hope to see you next time!
>>
>>35909831
I can just imagine Dom's Dad when he sees even more little girls next time Dom visits.

He's gonna Dateline NBC his son
>>
>>35909831
Considering the odds on us not bringing girls back with us, I have to assume not very much money is being traded
>>
>>35909770
Yes, we got 12! Whatever happens to the rest of them, we can at least make sure that Marida's backstory will not involve being sold into slavery as a child prostitute.

>>35909831
Oh, the crew doesn't even bother to bet on that. They all know it will happen by now. These days the bets are on how many new recruits, not the fact that there will be at least some.

>>
>>35909853
I'm a bit disappointed that the Purus maturation has been accelerated to bring them to their ZZ ages. I suppose it makes sense, even Bernini wouldn't send eight year-olds into combat, so with a bigger budget to spend on the program it's reasonable that the Purus growth would have been sped up. But I would have liked them to be closer in age to Mineva. There could have been fun hijinks. Oh well, having them be big sisters to Mineva will be fun, too.

Thanks for running, Hearts. Despite my griping this was a good thread, very nice. See you next week.
>>
>>35909831

not only that, but the Puru Collection quest has now unlocked and is at 3/12 completion status.

Also, I don't think we'll be able to strip analyse the Puru's suits just yet....

How would the Puru's get on in our suit? The fact that they share the same Newtype pressure should put them at a level similar to CC's coordiantion....

If we get all 12, can we design a massive MA which they all operate? or would that be too Zeon in design? Should we stick to our current suit design and have 4 units with 3 Puru's?
>>
>>35909934
Four mobile suits that combine into one super-mecha. We're going to make an entire Super Sentai team of little girls.
>>
>>35909835
The discrepancies between their literal age, their mental/emotional maturity, and their physiological maturity should be come apparent pretty quickly next weekend.

Whether people wanna waifu what they see, or daughteru, or make them some kinda battle-imouto team, I really can't say for sure.

>>35909903
You could. There'd be a marginal improvement in mobility.

Crashing now.
>>
>>35909934
>the Puru's suits just yet

That has me worried. The Purus we captured were completely cognitive and not drugged out of their mind.
>>
>>35909964
Daughter/Little Sister status. I don't know why anyone is thinking otherwise right now.
>>
>>35909964
Waifu.
>>
>>35909964
i think its been pretty clear most of us wante daughteru/imouto not waifu
>>
>>35909964
Well, the more Newtype women we boink, the faster we level-up our Psychic Powers, right?
>>
>>35909982
Psycommu huh?
>>
>>35909994
I think few if any of us are seriously thinking of waifuing them, we're just all worried someone else is going to. I'm pretty sure the consensus is that Purus are for little sisters, not girlfriends.
>>
>>35909964
i think its been pretty clear most of us want daughteru/imouto not waifu
>>
>>35909994

I'm a rather sick fuck myself, but even I couldn't think of even giving thought to waifu small ass kids like that. I would go total Big Bro with a slight Sister Complex on them though.
>>
>>35909964
>You could
Let's do it!
>>
>>35910016
Yeah, that. Mussolini apparently fixed the bugs in the prototype Schwarz or he somehow found a way to increase a Newtype psychic output to make up for faulty equipment.
>>
Daughteru or Imouto
The choice is yours so pick wisely
>>
>>35910051
Jupiter?
>>
>>35910051
Could be that the Purus have been specifically engineered to be resistant to the damaging effects.
>>
>>35910016

Plot-Twist; Riah made the Puru's. Axis went full EXAM. Jupiter plan on invading Mars...
>>
>>35910056

Such a hard choice, but I can say with 100% certainly I rather have her as an Imouto. Daughteruing them depends on the Puru themselves, #1 would be a BITCH to raise and #2 may actually be fun to do
>>
>>35910067
Oh, right. Pappy. I keep forgetting he's using Panini for his own ends.
>>
>>35910023
Honestly that depends on the Puru in question and how mature physically and mentally they are. If they are all around 16 years old then physically there wouldn't be an issue. How mature they are mentally is another matter.
>>35910041
>waifu small ass kids
Thing is they aren't small ass kids in anyway but mental most likely. Dom noted that they are ether a few years younger or the same age as Haman and Rossie where when he met them. Like I said it depends on where they are mentally. Honestly it depends. For the most part no I am not going to go after the Puru's as a waifu. Most likely as an imoute or treating them like a daughter.
>>
>>35910079
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4t8KisRznQ
>>
>>35910100
Bah. I meant to say I wasn't at all. Dom is not going to start it if I have any say about it.
>>
>>35910100
And I meant to say there would be an issue on the physical side. Mentally is a whole other thing.
>>
>>35910056
>>35910084
It comes down to how much Defrah corrupts them. And if they get ahold of ALICE's videos she's recorded of us with the other five in bed, the cockpit, the hangar, the sauna, the shower...
>>
>>35910100
A few years younger than Haman and Rosse would put them around twelve years old, the age they were in ZZ. I'm going to interpret any ambiguity on that as the results of being raised in microgravity and pumped full of growth hormones. The Purus are imoutos, and nothing will change my mind.
>>
>>35910116

What Dom wants and What Newtype Girls want aren't all necessarily the same...
>>
Waifu the 12 Purus.
>>
>>35910116
I meant to say there wouldn't be an issue

>>35910139
And I didn't know that. Like I said if they are sixteen physically then there would be nothing wrong when it comes to the physical aspect. Mentally is a whole nother story. I'm going to vote for dom to treat them as little sisters regardless until they are old enough physically and mature enough mentally.
>>
>>35910075
Bernini wouldn't spend anymore than he had to on Newtype research and construction. This has all the signs of the Jovian Man written on it.
>>
>>35910139
Well if their twelve then yeah I don't see dom returning any attraction but brotherly love.
>>
>>35910208
Yeah. Haman and Rosseweisse are 16, so "a few years younger" means they're at most thirteen. Way too young.
>>
>>35910139
>>35910208

I'm going to go out on a really long branch here and point out the last line.

>Or possibly the same... who can tell for sure at that age?

They could be anywhere from 12 to 15/16. As someone who wouldn't care one way or another, the age is still ambiguous enough that we could waifu them if people wanted to.

>>35910264
Both Haman and Rosse are 17 now. It's been almost seven months in-game I think.
>>
>>35910286
I wouldn't vote to waifu any Puru who wasn't mentally or physical mature enough. Would be really creepy.
>>
>>35910286
I was referring to the time when we met them. They were 16 then. Sorry, I'm tired and not speaking right.
>>
>>35910314
I should have put an and in there.
>>
>>35910314
Don't get your hopes up on that front. I didn't want to increase the harem beyond the initial three, but look where it is now. And Anons still want to bed Karen. I just shrug and roll with it now. If others want to bone the Purus, then so be it.

>>35910325
Ah. Alright.
>>
>>35910368
Several people had an issue with waifuing Rossie because they thought she might be younger then 16. It took word of GM that she was for this quest for them to be okay with it.
>>
>>35910394
I'm just saying, if there's enough Anons voting for the waifu route, Hearts can easily change that ambiguous a "who can tell for sure" to "they're old enough/16/17 years old". Hence, don't get yourself set on the little sister route.
>>
>>35910428
Honestly I don't think Dom could handle all the Puu's plus the sisters, Haman, rossie, audrey, and karen at once. He wouldn't have enough stamina.
>>
>>35910428
Honestly for now lets not choose a route and just learn more about their time at Mars Zeon and help them cope with their new home. We probably have a bit of time before things go to hell in a hand basket.
>>
>>35910486
I like this plan. It's a good one.
>>
>>35910471
I jokingly made a post he'd eventually get seven Newtype women; one for each day of the week. Then seven more so those could share and create a complicated schedule for sharing Dominic between them. That day may be closer than I anticipated.

>>35910486
Well, that's a given. They're the closest we have to actual, current intelligence on the movements of Mars Zeon and Axis too. We'll haft to have ALICE strip out the data on the hard drives on the Chivvay and see what intelligence she can glean.
