Forging is a great deal more complicated than you thought.

Different mixtures of metals, of metal and other things, of pattern forging and welding and forging heat and the different kinds of steel and iron and-

There's a lot. You're saying there's a lot of things to learn. and memorize. Thankfully, Mikhael is there to help you. To teach and train.
Unfortunately, he teaches forging in much the same way Mom teaches fighting. And while it's the metal being struck, you have the sneaking suspicion that you're the one being forged.

"Again!"
Even with your heat resistance, there's still sweat beading on your forehead, and you blink your eyes clear while you pound a yellow glowing sheet into shape.
"Too bloody hard! Strike softer. Flip it. Again!"

You're not entirely sure how long you've been here at this point.
Maybe an hour? A few hours? It's hard to guess. The lights low- You need to see the metal to know when it's ready. That was easy to learn, at least. And you can identify how ready it is by colour (And also via magical cheating. But The smith insists on learning properly, first). You haven't even started making things yet, just learning how to swing a hammer. How hard, from where, which side to hit- Everything changes depending on what you're making, what you're trying to do.

Wikipedia isn't nearly as useful as you'd hoped.

Your professor grunts, gestures- You hold up the piece with a heavy pair of tongs, and he examines your work.
"'s passable. For now, yeah?"
You pant as you answer.
"Thank-you," you say, breathlessly.
>>
>>35893656
He waves it off.
"You aren't nearly done yet, lass. But there's work to be doing, and I need to get a move on. Come back tomorrow."
You swallow heavily and nod.
Free for the moment, you skitter clear of the smith's as the sound of metalwork resumes, a rapidfire ring of metal beneath his hammer.

Outside, it's early evening- The sun has a ways to go yet, but you definitely spent longer in there than you'd thought. Your stomach is making its protests known- It's probably time to find your friends.
And hope that they brought down a lot of food.

>Check by Jin's house. They're probably done.
>Swing by the gate, see if they're back yet.
>Try and ignore your stomach.

so now that the evolution knife fighting has ended, anyone care to put money on which girl hits awkward puberty first?

Lyra trying to explain why her chest is getting bigger to Jin?
Jin's mom tells her after she catches her parents kissing that it is between two people who care about each other a great deal (and Jin demanding kisses from lyra in the aftermath)?
Shesza's decent into panic as her instincts tell her the pack isnt big enough?

We are already in the middle of it, remember the teasing after we evolved. Thats how it beginns. Although I don't think Lyra has a tendency for rebellious phase, she didn't even really have one as human, if her own words are to be believed.
>>
>>35894759
And you need it tough enough, and enough of it, to change a magma blooded spider the size of a car from a preteen to a full grown woman in a week or less.
>>
You could head straight to Jin's home and wait for them. If they're not back.
Or you could make more work for yourself, loop through town to the gate, see if they've come through yet, and then either wait for them or head to Jin's house to meet them.

So obviously, you make your way to the gate.

Your trip through town is pretty much the same as the your entrance earlier. Lots of staring. The centaur is back, though, paralyzed at the sight of you. Your stomach growls as you pass him by, sending him fleeing into the stables as you laugh.
Kind of.

You smile a bit, at least. You're really getting hungry.
When you pull up to the gate, the guards have changed. How do they divide the shifts? Four by six? Two? Eight? Hmm. It's not like you can ask. Guards probably aren't in the habit of telling people when they're switching.

You crawl up to the entrance, now manned by the sword wielding adventurer and the old man. Is he even an adventurer? Or does he just sit at the gate and laugh at people? The adventurer ignores your clattering legs as you approach. You're inside already. Not his problem, apparently. The elderly man, on the other hand, is in the habit of making everything his business.

On the plus side, he does apparently recognize you.
He takes a long look at your body, eyes lingering on the giant skull before he starts to laugh, throwing back his head and leaning deeply into his chair.

Which draws the attention of the guard, who looks, raises his eyebrows as far as they'll go, and redirects his attention to the woods. Jobs come first.

"Hee heeee.... Suddenly realize you were naked there, kid?"
You raise an eyebrow of your own.
"I do not think it works like that."
"Sure it does. Men like to watch a woman showing a bit of skin, yeah. And the spiders show a whooooole lot."
>>
>>35894888
The guard is already pinching the bridge of his nose, trying his best to ignore the conversation.
"...This is chitin, yes? Not skin. I do not think men will be staring at a spider's legs, yes?"
He lets out a dismissive puff of air, shaking his head.
"Ah, missy. It shows how little you know- Men love a girl with a lot leg, yeah?"

The adventurer has had enough, and rolls his eyes before he sets himself in the middle of the chat.
"There's two conversations going on here, and neither of them is meeting, at any point. Is there something we can help you with?"
"Yes, yes. You don't seem surprised with the whole-" You wave behind you. "-thing, yes?"

"I'm not going to go and faint, if that's what your asking."
"I do not think you are the fainting type, yes. But that isn't what I meant."
"Lann passed on that you were back in town and looking 'spooky'. Though she spent most of the time laughing. The boy is having something of a rough day."

You smirk.
"I would imagine, yes. Have you seen Jin or Sheszka? The wolf. They went out to hunt while I was visiting the smith."
"I am continuously surprised that girl hasn't singed every last one of her feathers. But no, haven't seen them yet. They went out before we set up shop, yeah?"
"Hmm."

>>
We need more stuff to discuss
Can you build an airship without other gasses to fill it?
can we build an eberron style airship? I love the magitech shit from that setting.
>>
>>35895352
you can have an airship without lighter than air gasses easy.
All you need is a heat source to heat up normal air, then trap that air in balloons.
So we can fuel it ourself, or we can get some kind of stabilized star to do it.
>>
>>35895395
Stabalized star? Why so complex? Im sure a few wind and fire elemental stones of high enough purity could do the trick. Also arent there spiders who make makeshift parachutes to catch the wind? A personal spiderbutt mounted flight rig seems much easier than an airship, at least to start.
>>
>>35895619
ehh what ever it is id rather not just be at the mercy of the wind.
>>
>>35895619
just use a gravity or wind stone to fly directly

hot air balloons is something we use because we don't have magic IRL.

Spider paragliders would be absolutely enormous, given our size.
It's mountain spiders who do that shit easily.
>>
>>35895724
>mercy of the wind

Nah, we could fix that easy. A fire and wind stone could easerly be harnessed to run a piston and propeller.

In fact, and Air Ship is well within our current means. It would take weeks, at least, to produce that much silk, but we could do it. I'd want, at least, a two skin balloon for safety.

We could put an order in at the trading post for the Element Stones we need, we've got all the wealth we need to order them.

A basic pressure driven piston motor to turn a prop would be cake with our metalbending talents.

We could to this. Let's do it!
>>
>>35896011
and then someone pokes a hole in it and it falls down and everyone dies. because we didn't use proper magic levitation stone instead.
>>
>all these magic-based methods of flight
I wonder if lyra disenchants shit when she sneezes.
>>
You're not really one to sit and wait.
Not anymore, anyway.

You thank the men for their help as you head out, and do your best to ignore the old man whistling at you as you leave.
People don't really look at your legs like that, do they?

Gah, you don't need this.

In any case, it's time to bend your hunting skills to other uses! You'll track your friends in no time flat, following their trails right to them!

Five minutes in the forest confirms a few things.

First: Tracking anything that flies is pretty much impossible. There's no scent, no tracks, nothing.

Second: Tracking and hunting are two very different things. Finding something specific is a great deal more difficult than finding anything at all.

And third: Following Sheszka's trail is a little disorienting- She definitely has her own scent, but it's very much overlaid with your own. You have a few stop and starts where you need to reorient yourself, trying to focus on the wolf-girls scent by itself.

Once all that is settled, though, it's not too bad. You rumble through the woods at medium speed, following any signs of your friends you can find- pawprints, smells, everything.

You arrive easily, breaking through into a clearing where the two of your friends surround a few deer bodies- Jin has perched herself on one, and Sheszka is circling them, apparently trying to figure out how to get them back to the village. Both look up, smiles wide as you head towards them.

Im honestly more worried about random birds and or harpies suddenly getting attached. I propose an emergency air cushion system comprised of wind stones along the bottom of the ship that could trigger all at once in the event of an emergency
>>
Spider's really are the apex utility creature aren't they?

They exist everywhere, they make balloons, they make diving suits, their silk is very flame resistant, they run a huge variety of appearance, limbs, and venom.
>>
>>35896516
I deleted my post to make a bit of a correction. based on what i looked up

spider silk is not flame resistant, but it doesn't burn well either. it shrivels when exposed to a direct flame but won't catch on fire.
it resists ~250 degrees before starting to shrivel
OLD webs might be covered in dust that would burn
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dust_explosion
>>
>>35896516
Spider silk won't really combust, but it will immediately begin to lose its mechanical properties if it goes above 428F. The fire risk seems to be that it's a surprisingly good conductor and that the dust and debris on and around it will ignite.

Too old! Though if he was a bit younger, you might have my ear.
>>
Your friends straighten as you close in on them, standing near at attention, even their ears and feathers pointing up. You laugh, reaching your wolf first, one hand already reaching for her head as her smile grows.

The absolute satisfaction on her face as you scratch her behind the ears is a reward all its own. Maybe it's the ears? You tried petting yourself, but it really didn't do anything. Or maybe other types of monsters just have sensitive heads? Well, you'll find out eventually. Sooner rather than later, considering your lack of self control.

Which is ridiculous, of course. You could stop anytime you wanted. At all.
It's just that they like it. And it's a reward. So, you pretty much have to do it then, right? You don't ask people to do things and not reward them. That'd be wrong. You're perfectly justified.

Jin flutters her way next to Sheszka, standing shoulder to shoulder with the canine and folding her wings, leaning her head closer to you.

You cup your hand around the back of her head, running your fingers up and through her hair, gently combing hair and feathers alike. The two lean heavily into each other, each one twisting their heads to offer better access to you, looking for all the world like they're ready to melt.

You lean down, pulling them closer and smiling.
"Good job, yes. I knew I could count on you both."
Their smiles are brilliant.
"Sheszka found them!" "Jin showed me where to chase, yes!"
"You were working together, then? Well done, well done!"
>>
>>35897649
Both blush at the praise, and you pull back, your hands slowly slipping free of their hair.
"Now, my hunters, will you help me carry them home?"
"Yes!"
They're even talking all at once, now.

It only takes a few minutes to get everything ready- You could do it easily enough by yourself, and with Sheszka's enhanced strength, it's hardly an effort. With a small pile of deer strapped to your back, you turn and head for the village, your pack in tow.

The guards are the same as you left them, and you're waved through without a fuss. A few minutes more and you're pulling up in front of Jin's home, settling down outside and getting ready for dinner.

>Scarf it down, head to the hall to chat with Lann.

You... don't really know how to prepare something for a spit. So that idea is out the window.

You consider your options as you ready the meat- stripping the skin, pulling it off the bones. Something simple. You did steaks, already. Pan fried was good. Maybe skewers? That'd work. Simple, fast, and you could even let your fire crazed harpy cook for herself. She'd enjoy that.

You direct Sheszka to bring you a few straight sticks- strong, but thin enough to hold meat. She heads straight to the woods while you start carving the venison into cubes- big enough to be a mouthful, but small enough to cook fast.

You're hungry, and nowhere near that patient.

Sheszka is back in a flash, a small pile of sticks in her arms and excitement in her eyes. Wait, is sending a wolf to bring sticks racist, or something? She seems happy. Maybe as long as you don't yell 'Fetch!' or something. You'll be careful.

Fire built, meat ready- You set each girl up with a skewer of heavy chunks of meat, and take three for yourself, showing them how to hold them over the fire, twisting the branches to cook them evenly.

In no time at all there's a thick smell of cooking meat, the fire casting you all in a warm light as the sun sets. Jin is humming, enraptured by the fire as much as her dinner, and Sheszka is salivating as she watches the fat hiss and spit over the blaze.

The moment of truth arrives, as you all pull back your works, setting about devouring them without delay. You wolf down the first two sticks, barely even tasting the game-y flavour of the deer. The next one you take the time to savour- It's good, but all this cooking is making you miss beef. And chicken. You'd kill for chicken. Oh gods, how many chicken would it even take? You could eat a whole farm. Fried or baked or roasted or-

Dammit, you just chewed through your skewer.
>>
>>35898660
You set up the remaining two again with more meat, but your friends have other plans- Jin has even managed to tear herself away from the blaze. Their standing on either side of you, each stick with a single sizzling piece of meat, right at the end. And held up for you to eat. They are apparently planning to reenact the last meal. In reverse.

Well, you haven't said no to food just yet.

You alternate bites between each one, tearing off chunks and swallowing them as they watch, smiling. You give each a quick pat before they settle down to cook the next round, and you devour your way through the rest of the meal.

___________________________________________

There is absolutely nothing more satisfying than a full meal on an empty stomach. Not even head-patting. Maybe head-patting.

Head patting is probably on par. Better.

You round up your friends post dinner- Not that it's particularly hard. Sheszka is pretty much comatose, and Jin looks like she might too full to fly. Everyone washes their hands, and then their faces.

You're monsters, not animals.

The guild is well lit, and pretty lively. It's still kind of early, though. Or maybe not? Maybe with the monsters people go to sleep earlier? Or maybe adventurers just get drunk whenever they feel like it.

You'll go with the latter.

Friends securely (and probably unconsciously) stowed behind you, you walk right in.

Lively is a weak word. Rowdy. Rowdy is better. There's more than a few facees you don't recognize, people of all shapes and sizes and colours wearing all sorts of ridiculous things. A small, brown skinned woman wearing barely anything at all- but she's covered in scars, and sports a pair of horns. A giant of man taking up the whole corner, a wide braided beard spilling across his chest, all the way to his waist.

Lann is sitting on a bench on one side of the room, her hood thrown back- Her ears are pointed, but short. She's got a mug in one hand, and is laughing uproariously, one arm around the shoulders of a man with sharp features, a bandanna pulling back his hair from his face.

You manage a few steps into the room before Lann spots you, shouting excitedly and waving, spilling ale right into her friends lap.
"Lady spider! Hey, Yah! Over here!"
You work your way through the hall to her table, drawing glances all around- Even adventurers don't see arachne too often, it seems.

The table is the right height at least. You sit down, resting your elbows on the wood and greeting your acquaintance.
"Good evening, yes?"
"Haha! It's a pretty good evening so far!"
>>
>>35900152
You smile, and she returns it, a full grin splitting her features.
"You seem much more... outgoing? Yes."
"Pffft- I am an, an expert! Yeah, I'm great at keeping my... work and my other stuff. Apart!"
The man looks up from his damp pants, waving a hand in dismissal.
"She gets like this with even a single mug. Adventuring for a bleeding decade, still a lightweight."
"I can drink youuu under the table, Cliff!"

"She gets excited, then loud, then she's asleep inside the hour. Four ales, every time."
You laugh, and find yourself joined by other voices- this is a common argument in the guild, apparently.
"I am Lyra, yes. These are Jin and Sheszka, though I don't think they'll be awake for long."
"Cliff Derray. Nice to meet you."

He offers his hand across the table, and you take it, careful to keep your fingers from cutting his a you shake.
"Lann was wanting to trade stories, yes."
His expression perks a bit- and the sound of sliding wood on wood fills the room. Your fenced in in seconds, a cage of benches and adventurers all around.

Lann laughs at your face- you're definitely gaping.
"The little spider says she was down inna dungeon, yeah. In the woods, too!"
There's a chorus of curious voices all around, as attention focusses on you.
A waitress prods your shoulder, holding a tray of drinks.
"Everybody here likes stories more than just a bit, kiddo. Take something for your throat, or you'll be dry 'fore long."

Now, this is the story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became a giant spider out of thin air

In the great forest, born and raised
On the ground and swamps is where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out, maxin' stats, and hackin' monsters its all cool
Puttin' down some big ass bears and lizard fools
>>
>>35900176
>>Take whatever is offered
>Ask where they want you to start- They've heard Jin, but you've got more than a few stories.
>>
You want stories in return, and you aren't picky about what you're drinking.
Now where do they want you to start?

Writing!

But this skeletal guy
He was up to no good
Started making trouble
In my neighborhood

I'd got in one little fight
And my mom got scared
So I went back home
And told her he was there

[And then the charge of the spider Rohirim]
>>
>>35900455
Let's start from the beginning, tell them all of our adventures from since we were but a new born spider!
>>
It's important to remember that spiders get intoxicated from some different things than human.
>>
>>35900566

Coffee...
>>
>>35900455

Back when we but an itty~ bitty~ spiderbutt~ little under a month ago we...
>>
>Lyra ends up drunk
>Wakes up in a meadow
>Surrounded on all sides by the corpses of giant bears
>Jin and Sheszka lie naked to her sides, a fine sheen of sweat contrasting with their satisfied smiles
>There is also a tiger tied to a tree for some reason
>>
>>35900566
>Oh your too young to have this beer spider, here have something to keep you up to tell us your story
>>
>>35900518
I for one vote to just give them the notable moments, otherwise we could be here all night. They want to hear about our adventures, not about each individual hunt we've gone on.

But if we do give them our life story, we must sing it.
>>
I wonder how many beers it takes to get a giant spider drunk? That and I wonder if mom is going to kill us if she finds out that we got drunk when we're still not even a month old
>>
>>35900701
No.
I refuse singing meme life stories.
>>
>>35900701
Quick someone make a drinking song
>>
The biggest hurdle in our quest to obtain Coffee is that there isn't any in this town... we'd have to go across the continent to find/obtain it, or get very lucky at a traders...

Though we might be more likely to find some at a large mercantile port city as the ships are likely laden with exotic good and foodstuffs...
>>
>>35900701

No, no, see, we just have to Disney this. What could possibly go wrong?

How about a strong cup of tea?

Mom is going to punch us if we over do it. Also, we have water on tap via shield.

Oh stop being such a wimp. Time to live it up!

>>35901133
We are a giant spider.
A mug of alcohol won't do shit.
A barrel or two on the other hand...
>>
random thought, just how flammable is this alcohol? I mean we do have fire powers... and if we get drunk I don't see it past us to try and down as much booze as we can to let off a massive burp seeing if we can't light it on fire to show off.

Sorry about the wait.
Figured I'd say I'm not dead, just that this update is ridiculous.

inb4 we are ultra lightweights because of biological coincidence.

After looking up some more info we are probable immune to LSD and Mescaline shouldn't do much to us, but we should avoid sedatives and caffeine. So no coffee, tea, or soda.

You take the mug she offers, raising it to your lips and pausing as you sniff.

It smells... Well, it smells alcoholic. But watered down. Nothing like the stuff your friends used to try and get you to drink. You take a sip, leaning back over your spider half, looking around the crowd that's formed around you. You clear your throat.

"I was promised a trade, yes? I want stories in return."
"Aye." "Fair enough." "Yeah, we got plenty, right?"
You nod.

You sweep a palm out in front of you.
"Where do you want me to start? I know that Jin is... ah, very fond of bragging? But I think she skips details."
"Nah, I think we know exactly how strong you are!"
"Very, she's very strong."
Laughter rings out over the sounds of glasses clinking, people drinking.

"That is exactly what I am talking about, yes."
Lann's friend chimes in quickly.
"How about the ruins, yeah? We hear all sorts of things, but nobody's allowed in. The little bird was rattling off about kobolds, or something."

You nod twice, and take another sip.
"It was late in the forest, yes? Before dawn had cracked. A child was missing, a little moth chased into the ruins below. The harpies had come to ask for help- from my mother. Ah- Nialla, yes? She is an adventurer all her own. But she could not fit into the ruins. The entrance was long collapsed, and it was too small."

"An arachne adventurer?"
"Yeah, she went around years ago-" "I met her over in Rensburg, yeah? Exploring ruins."
"And training. Always, always. She stopped in the guild over there, looking for sparring partners. Alex was sore for weeks!"
>>
>Talking Dorf
>Lyra is an Elf-Spider.

Get the fuck out.
>>
>>35902264
>Giant, terrifying, red skull-spider getting tipsy and doing cute spider dance.

SECONDED.
>>
>>35902323

You laugh.
"I am glad I am not the only one, then."
"She spars with you?"
"She beats me into the ground, yes."
The ring around laughs, people leaning in closer as you continue.

"So I have woken up, yes? From the harpies calling her to treetop. And up I go- and if she cannot fit, there is still a child needing rescue, yes. So they carried me to-"
"What, the harpies?"
"Yes."
"The hell'd they even lift you?"
"They held web. And there was three. And I was a lot smaller, yes."
"It's the last one that counts."

"Yes. Ahem. So I am taken to the ruins, to go below. And Jin is to come with me, so I am not alone. The entrance was tight, even for me- My shell was scraping the walls."
"What're they like, kid?"
"Hah?"
"The ruins, yeah? It's the old spider city, isn't it?"

"It was all the monsters of the forest. There's broken statues and... and when we got through the door, the stairs- They were huge. Gigantic. Wide, and they went so far down. And below there was pillars, and cuts into the stone to carry the water- We came to a giant hallway, and the water ran through it freely, until the hall was broken, and a cave was there."

"And that's where there's a monster, right?"
"Yes."
"Jin likes this part."
You laugh along with them, and the harpy stirs a little, curling further into the eyehole. Sheszka is snoring, arms and legs lying loose out of the socket.

"Yes, there is a monster here. A centipede, a giant one. But we are quiet- and I strike all at once, killing it with one blow. We leave the body, following the trail further through the corridors- out of the cave and back into the ruins beneath. And there is a shattered room- Three kobolds are inside. The wall is cracked, but it is enough for the moth, yes. She is hiding, crying while they laugh, threaten."
You take a long draught. It still makes you a little angry.
>>
>>35902400
The adventurers at least know a good part of a story when they hear it. They're all leaning in, silent and waiting.
"And she cries. And I am, I am mad. Angry. I yell, I strike- One kobold, I drive my weapon through it, through it's armour and into the wall. Another attacks, and I kick it away from me, driving it to the ground! And the last tries to stab me with it's spear, and I knock it away!"

"Jinni said they were scared, even."
"Yes. It tried to keep me away, but I grabbed it, bit it-"
"Your fangs don't look that big- You got a spider mouth or somethin-"
"Arachne are venomous as hell, Kev. She bites you, you're dead on the floor in seconds."
"Hells!"

"Yes, yes. He fall, he dies, and I take his weapon and turn to the last- He tries to guard, and I stab him. The spear shatters in my hands and my knife tears through his guard!"
"Bloody- How old were you?"
"Ah. More than a week? I, ah. I threw up, right after."

More laughter- broken by the giant raising a mug the size of your chest over his head.
"A toast! To a brave spider, aye!"
The guild reverberates with the shout that follows, every glass held high, clinking together.
"AYE!"
You down your cup with them, and the barmaid has another in your hands in seconds. You offer a thanks as you smile.
>>
>>35902442
"Yes. And Jin coaxes out the little moth, but now the ruins are coming to life! There are noises, growls all around! I carry the little one, and we run back the way we came-"
"You didn't get lost or nothin'?"
"I am a giant spider, yes! I left web behind, so I could find my way!"
"Damn. That's a hell of a lot easier than a map, for sure."
"Ya haven't the ass for it!"

More laughing, more drinking- The two people are arguing, shouting, people chuckling around them.
"More, more!" "C'mon, what's next?"
"Ha! And we ran, yes? All the way to the caves! And we slipped through- and there, over the dead centipede, was-"
"A giant bloody spider!"

"Yes, yes! Seranthis, the forest walker! I spoke to him! And he said he would keep us from being chased, yes-"
"Wait a bleeding- Seranthis? That's just a legend, right?"
"I thought the old empire refused to attack till he vanished or whatever?"
"Then he's still around?"

You nod, drinking more, as every one in the room stares.
"Yes. He said he went below the city, to keep it safe. That there were things in the dark that couldn't be allowed above."
"So there's a castle sized spider underground somewhere. Great. I'm never sleeping again."
"Spiders ain't even scary, ya nit-"
"Too many legs-"

"SO we went up, yes! Out of the ruins. And our families were waiting. We rescued the moth-girl!"
There's a round of applause from the adventurers around you. Another toast.

And then the giant leans forward, tossing back his ale before he starts to speak.
"Aright, then. Lissen up, an I speak of the mountains far away-"

"Annnn enntire room! Nuthin bu picturesss and picturesss and stoopid stoopid books. About, about hisself. WIZARDS!"
Everyones laughing. You're not sure how much you've drank, but you're feeling pretty good right now. Sheszka woke up for a bit, and had a drink, and then she went back to sleep.

"So ya got past a whole pile a traps, and there was a room about nothing?"
"Yesss! And more rooms, just about him! Banners and statues! And the last room- The last room! Hah! It wasss him, right? His stoopid skeleton in a bloody throne. Juss sitting there! Thought he was importan enough for venturers to look for him!
Everyone's laughing, drinking. You've heard so many stories! About mountains and rivers and forests and the plains and cities and caravans and-

Damn, you're tired. But Jin's house is soooo far away. Wait, wait. Lann says there's beds upstairs. You're pretty sure you'd break them though. You're a giant spider! But you'll take the sheets and the floor, anyway.

You fall asleep, contented and warm, your human bits splayed across a bed, snoring and drooling, a smile across your face.

shit, it WOULD sort of be our half-elf part.

It's gonna be weird to incorporate the information that we are in fact part elf. We never use that bit, but are always using the giant spider bit.

Technically it's our humanoid part and nothing else.

Calling it our 'elf part' is in no way more accurate than calling it our human part, considering that we still have chitin covered arms, way more eyes than any elf and poisonous fangs.
Even our ears are basically just Arachne ears, regardless of whether our elven heritage makes them slightly more pronounced.

I don't think thats how it works. The guild just gives out the missions and then pays people, they don't care about who does it how.

But we might make it a thing. Soon other giant spiders come from the forest to do the same thing.
>>
>>35903053
>But we might make it a thing. Soon other giant spiders come from the forest to do the same thing.
why? its completely counter to their culture.
mom has been an adventurer for years and nobody else but us followed in her footsteps.
Most spiders have no use for money as they are super self sufficient and their culture values that self sufficiency. in fact, how will they even KNOW that such a thing is going on in the first place, when we are about the only spider who visits town?
>>
>>35902931
how much did Lyrra's weapon craft go up with smiting or would that be a new skill?

When we eventually leave on our adventures and visit various taverns and guild halls, I think we'll be able to tell the people that knew Mom well by who has PTSD attacks when they see us.

>Go to guild hall.
>See if anyone wants to spar, can't let our skills get rusty.
>Hardened adventurers see an Arachne wanting to train, just curl into the fetal position and start to weep.

Lyra asks him to tell her about the dungeon.
He gets filled with a sense of pride at being asked about it.
As he starts going on about the type of traps that are likely to be in there, Lyra tells him what traps Used to be in there and only wanted to know what half the stuff she got from the place was.
The young adventure has his hopes dashed and his pride shreadded.
Jin then pops her head out of the Skull and asks if he knows what they are or not.
He then appraises all the items whilst mourning the time that he has now apparently wasted...
